I live in the area after reading the reviews I place a pizza order and their Donair and was Not disappointed you now how a new long time customer The mozzarella cheese taste like mozzarella lol the sauce was tasty the pizza pie itself was light not heavy . Donair had this nice sweet sauce that worked well with the generous amount of meat with its spices that were not overpowering. Fantastic job guys

Centertown Halifax Donair & Pizza is the ONLY donair restaurant/takeout place in the entire of eastern Ontario and west Quebec that knows how to make a proper east coast donair. If you are just visiting Ottawa go to this restaurant/takeout before you leave. They are a game changer for takeout in Ottawa. I could go on all day about this place and I would not do it justice. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, polite + friendly staff. Great eat in experience. When this place becomes popular you will regret not visiting before they got busy.

Donair was interesting with a sweet sauce to counter the savory spicy meet. Sauce was partially overwhelming with how much was added. Took 30 minutes to serve the food for a group of 8, with no one else ordering food. Relatively slow service given the type of food ordered.

As someone who has lived in Halifax and eaten many Donair in my time, this place is the best Donair I have ever had outside of Halifax. The sauce is perfection and the Donair was everything you needed and more. It brought me right back to the good old days of living by the ocean. Do not sleep on this place.

The East Coast Donair is really the greatest sandwich ever. You have not had a donair unless its from the East Coast. I say this as a person who is not from the East Coast. Only minor complaint here is the fries, looking at the photos they have served a variety over the years, hopefully they will go back to something uncoated or fresh cut. I got some coated stuff last time and they were pretty bad. Does not stop me from ordering an unhealthy amount of donairs.

Great authentic eats coast donair. The specials are great value. Try the regular donair wrap and donair egg rolls. Vegetarian options: Not really any veggie options. Parking: Somewhat limited street parking. Youll probably have to park around the corner on a side street which may or may not be free depending on the time.

My first time coming here, and had passed by once or twice. I got a large donair platter, and it was HUGE! I was very impressed by the amount of meat given and the taste was amazing!! Definitely going back again!

Made an order through skip the dishes who messed up and failed to pick up and deliver our order. Received a call from restaurant who arranged for them to personally deliver. They went above and beyond to provide excellent service. The food was amazing as usual, best donairs!

Still the greatest sandwich in the whole world and the best place to get them in Ottawa. Haven t been in a while after moving away but I came back and this was my first stop. It did not disappoint. If anything the Donair is better than I remember! The meat is flavourful and plentiful, the ratios of meat to bread to veg is perfect, and the sauce, oh that sauce, it s the nectar of the gods. The food is delicious - the donair meat is juicy and cut thick; combined with their donair sauce and veggies, it all comes together to make their deservedly famous pizza and wraps. I tried their Halifax donair combo and it was seriously good! I had never tried an authentic Halifax donair and I really enjoyed it, theyve got me as a convert! Also, when they say large, they arent kidding, it was absolutely loaded with meat and bursting at the seams like an overstuffed burrito! Otherwise, the fries were decent, the coated kind, likely of the frozen Cavendish variety, they were numerous and I enjoyed them as well, the donair is the real star here though!

The donair was heavenly as usual, the service is always fantastic and friendly. I do enjoy coming to this place and experiencing the welcoming atmosphere. One thing is Wish we had real cheese curds for poutines!

This is a real maritimer s gem in the capital. The food, the service, the decor, the nice owner everything just reminded me of Nova Scotia and the maritimes in general. I m not a fan of Donair myself, so while my husband orders some I go for their delicious pizza and the incredible garlic fingers. Highly recommended

Perfection! I am so happy to have discovered this little gem. The donair on pita was delicious. The meat was perfectly seasoned, the tomatoes & onions were fresh and the sauce had the perfect level of sweetness. You cant get more authentic Halifax donair on pita than here. The owners are so welcoming. The restaurant was really clean. Perfection!

Pizza and donairs are quite good, and service is always friendly. Hard to get there at the hours theyre open. 11-6/7 is not pizza primetime. Called today (Saturday) at 5 and it went to voicemail. Message says theyre open until 7 on Th- Sat. I assume they had a staffing issue or something. Disapponting, as I was going to pick up a bunch of donairs to bring to my Maritimer buddies :/

The only complaint I have is that they close at 7pm. They have the best donairs and garlic fingers here in Ottawa, their donair sauce & garlic sauce is amazing and they serve the right amount of meat with their donairs. The only downside to this place is that they close early, I really hope they expand their hours, every weekend we usually end up wasting our money at different places trying to find a good donair or one that taste similar thats open around 10-11pm and they never end up tasting good, Please expand your hours Thursday- Saturday Maybe add chicken donairs or wraps to your menu, on the days when we do order here I usually have to order some of my family members chicken donairs or chicken wraps somewhere else while the rest of us order our beef donairs & garlic fingers from here

I listened to the The Secret Life Of Canada podcast episode that talked about the history of the Halifax s donair and immediately had a craving for one. I googled Halifax donair in Ottawa and this place came up. We got the donair amd garlic fingers. Both amazing. The garlic fingers changed my life. 5/5

My husband and I are from NS and it was great walking in and enjoying the maritime atmosphere from the pictures to the music. We had to order the Halifax donairs to see how authentic they were and we were not disappointed. They are right on the mark and absolutely delicious just like we remember. We will be coming back again and again. The customer service is top notch. Great place to get a little touch of home.

This place is one of centretowns best hidden gems. The halifax donair here is just that good. The service is super friendly, reasonably quick. The inside surely is unique and very Nova Scotian. This donair shop is certainly worth checking out.

Same great taste and quality as Donairs and Donair Pizzas from Halifax, specifically Pizza Time on Pleasant Street in Eastern Passage NS. Highly recommended. Only thing is you have to park on the street.

After seeing the awesome reviews my wife and I decided to tour into Ottawa to try the Donair. We each had the platter and it was amazing. Never having a Donair from the Maritimes I will say that it was the best one I have ever had anywhere. All the food is made in house, super fresh and that sweet sauce was perfect. There is a reason they give you a bucket of napkins... What a delicious mess. The owner gave us fantastic service, chatted with us and gave a little background on the business. Great atmosphere and the music is traditional eastern coast. Cant wait to try something new next time. Paul & Meghan.

Ive been eating here since it was originally Tonys Donair, The only thing that has changed is owners and let me tell you Terry - Lynn from center town pizzeria is amazing, she will go above and beyond to ensure youre satisfaction. They are kind and attentive to detail, they really give you a excellent foodie experience leaving you wanting more. The only real authentic Nova Scotian experience. So delicious and the sweetest owner you will ever meet !

This was horrible. I do not believe people who review this place positively have actually been to Halifax where I lived for 18 years. My donair could not be eaten as a sandwich. The meat, though generously applied, was soaked in way too much sauce making it like handling wet tapioca. The undersized pita was rubbery, and even when I asked for utensils I could not eat this donair because I could not cut through the pita. A donair should be able to be eaten by peeling the foil and/or paper and taking bites. For this to be possible, the pita has to wrap the full way around the contents forming a tube. If the pita essentially goes 1/2 to 2/3 around, and if you use way too much sauce, you get a slippery, sloppy concoction that cant be eaten without incredible effort. I tasted one piece of meat. It had too much black pepper, but was ok in flavour. The sauce was the right flavour and consistency, but the donair had around four times what is necessary applied, making this item impossible to eat. I would describe this donair as being closer to soup on a pita than what it is supposed to be. Affordable, but if you eat this you will need to do laundry and clean your shoes. Never try to eat this sloppy mess in a car. And as for cars, parking is an absolute nightmare in this area during lunch or supper hours. In Ottawa, there is no real Halifax donair shop besides this, but what they are making here is nothing like you get in Halifax on every corner from downtown to upper Agricola. I was not able to eat my lunch.

After a long time we have tried Halifax Donair. And the Donair Poutine was really good. Same taste and flavour we used to have in Halifax.

The stuff they got here is as good as youd get in Halifax, according to my friend who lived there for most of his life. My favourite item is just the classic donnair in a pita, if you want to try other things too, go for the garlic fingers, nachos, or egg rolls. My friend says those are the most common things people in Halifax would usually get.

Fantastic donairs. I personally recommend buying, then sitting one in your fridge overnight. Microwave it the next day, and you will be in heaven. Only con is that its a bit pricy, though thats really just inflation catching up with everyone. Taste is perfect.

If the King Of Donair is in Halifax, then the Queen Of Donair is in Centretown. First time trying this place out, had the garlic finger and donair special, and we will definitely be back. Great quality food, and great price too! (Food didn t last long, so wasn t able to grab pictures)

Ok so coming from the East Coast you can not at all compair the Donair from Halifax to anywhere else.. when I first got to Ottawa I needed a Donair and quickly found a local pizza joint (not this place) and ordered a Donair.. well lol.. to my surprise they were asking me strange questions about strange toppings and weird sauces I had never heard of....(Donairs equil..Tomato, onion, Donair meat, sweet creamy halifax sauce and if you want cheese)...(no veggies or weird hot sauces or other offerings lol) (This just wasnt good at all) also I quickly realized Ottawa or not many places outside of the East Coast had or carried a Real East Coast Donair..(I thought a Donair was a Donair until I moved away) .. Then I stumbled upon this wonderful little place and my life in Ottawa has been changed.. this place is amazing.. They are not only selling Halifax Donairs but they also used to run a place in NS as well.. the food is top notch the Donair is 100% Halifax.. the people are amazing and treat you like family.. if your from the East Coast or want a real Donair or some other delicious foods then this is the place you have been looking for.. now I will provide this disclaimer the prices are not East Coast lol.. but non the less stool worth it.. Cheers to a wonderful restaurant serving Halifax Donairs...

Close but not just there, they are making the wrong version of donair sauce, its more comparable to the squeeze bottle stuff you get at grocery stores out east. Too many places in Ontario use that version, im guessing because its the first version they see when looking up the king of donair recipe, but the actual version everyone knows out east, is the alternative version thats alot thicker. Donair sauce isnt ment to be soupy, its ment to be thiccccccc. This place gets it really close, but until we get the proper east coast donair with a mountain of meat, toppings, and DONAIR SAUCE (NOT SWEET SAUCE) on a pita, everyones gonna try to compare donairs to a swarma while trying to make claim its a middle eastern thing, not a martimes thing. Quebec is truly the great firewall preventing the rest of canada from having a true donair.

Real east coast Donair.

Last Saturday, my wife and I stopped by with our great friends Lisa and her mother Judy, to try the world famous authentic Halifax Donair and the very popular garlic fingers. We were over the moon with the down- home Atlantic Canadian welcome from Scott and Terri-Lynn. Our Donairs were super fresh and tasted amazing with the sweet Donair sauce. The garlic fingers were also top-notch as advertised. Lisa and her mom had the Donair salad and pizza and loved them. We also enjoyed meeting several other Easterners in this updated feel good restaurant. We will be back soon with friends and family for another great meal. Thanks.

OMG great food...the donair sauce was unbelievably delicious. Would have given a 5 but some of the meat on the donair was very moist and flavourful but some was a little too tough for my liking. I have found THE BEST authentic Halifax Donair Flippin EVER in ottawa, and they have beer too!!! Its called Centretown Donair and pizza, omfg I could die happy here. Any time youre around bronson/Gladstone end of centretown check it out you will seriously not be disappointed. The foods absolutely amazing and the service is that east coast youre part of the family now vibe and I really and truly could not be happier with my experience here. Im coming back daily until they chase me away :) hahahahaha

You need to stop by and try the food here, very good food, very good prices, and very good service

Came in from Montreal and decided to try the place since we love east coast donair. The donair was delicious, fries perfectly crispy. Also got their lunch special small pizza, $9 for pizza and a drink is an absolute steal and the pizza was delicious!

Best Donair in Ottawa ever! the taste is original and simple. Like we say Less is more and Center town Donair do just that. The owner as well as the staff are great, welcoming and friendly, make you want to spend your entire afternoon there. Aside from their splendid menu they also have a little cozy bar where you can peacefully wash savour your meal with a sip of your favorite drinks. Highly recommended

This food is so delicious - but the hours are absolutely insane! I havent been able to get donair from them in a couple years since I work and dont eat before 6...how is a post-bar food only available lunch/early supper?

I recently returned from a trip down east where I tried my first east coast donair and loved it so when I found out Ottawa has an authentic place to get one I had to try and it did not disappoint!!! I got a large and it was definitely very filing, the donair meat was super tasty along with the sauce and the veggies were fresh and crisp! Will be back for more! Thank you!

New owners, same awesome unique menu from Halifax!!!

I had an excellent experience here and its my new go to spot for delicious and affordable pepperoni pizza. The owner is so sweet and welcoming, the atmosphere is bright and cozy (love the new renovations!). I used to go to Bronson Pizza but prefer the taste of this pizza now. Excited to try the donairs next.

As a person from NS... was very skeptical walking in. Decor made me feel at home, customer service truly resembles east coast hospitality. Prices are incredible and the quality... nailed it. *proper halifax donair sauce... no garlicy garbage... real sweet sauce...*

Comfort food for anyone who s lived on the East coast. Absolutely delicious donairs in a quaint small establishment with great personal service. We ate in, took another order home and are already planning our next visit with friends.

Had the large donair and fries. If you order the large... Really ask yourself how hungry you are. I thought the server handed me a rugby ball. Inside is cozy, staff is friendly.
