I used to come here once a week and probably won't come back since it's gone downhill. Pizza slices are tasty when fresh but often cold and greasy. The people now seem cold, stressed out and uninterested. It's unfortunate because I use to love this place and now it's just disappointing. It's $16+ for 2 slices and a soda so it's really just not worth it since the pizza itself should only be 3-4 dollars a slice. Pasta sauce is delicious but honestly it feels like they over charge for pasta, I got a slice of combination pizza a portion of pasta and a soda and it cost $17. The "freedom fries" have a nice name but are quite lacking overall in both flavor and quality of fry. The tortelloni is quite bad and only saved by the sauce and it seems pre made or just old. It's quite sad to see this happen to a business I used to love. The food is really not worth the price and it's a shame because this is a small Canadian business. I think it may be because of rent at their current area or maybe just lack of motivation . Unfortunately id rather just not come to Mento place anymore if the only good place is now subpar. It's a shame to see what has come to once was such a great place
I get breakfast there regularly and I’m always greeted with a smile from the employees. The service is outstanding, the prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious. Highly recommend.
Great pizza, solid diner style breakfasts, and a level of customer service and friendliness that every restaurant should strive for. The staff are incredible when it comes to remembering their regular patrons orders, and are always in a contagiously cheerful mood. A great go-to spot for consistently good food at any time, with a smile.
I stumbled onto El Toro, and was taken back to my childhood and their sit-in restaurant on Richmond rd. Had to go inside this new food court version - hoping for a m old school reset to find memories. Sadly it’s not at all the “since 1967” recipe, not ingredient quality. Thick doughy pizza. Flat on taste. No zest in sauce.
If you work in the office building connected to the plaza or you're in the neighborhood for locally owned and fresh pizza. El Toro Pizza is the place you should try. They offer breakfast, lunch and even dinner options. The customer service is great. Service is quick and served with a smile. A trademark that is not commonly seen in today's fast food chains. The pizza is of good quality. Not over or undercooked. Fresh ingredients and served hot. Beverages are available and served either hot or cold depending on what you choose. There is also a good selection of choices while not be overwhelming to the consumer. Price is the hot topic is everything these days and it's no different here. A price for a canned drink and slice of pepperoni pizza is $8.87 with HST. It's a fair price to pay for a slice of pizza and drink but if you're going to treat yourself to quick and decent meal it's worth paying the extra couple of dollars. 4.5/5 - I recommend this place.
Ate there for the first time. The pizza tasted good but was definitely it worth the $13 and change I paid before taxes. It was very small and the crust paper thin. Not a lot of topping. Definitely not worth the price.
Pizza's not bad if you like it thicker/doughy. I would prefer thinner crust, but the dough was actually nice and soft, so I don't mind. Cheese and sauce were alright, nothing spectacular. But for a plain slice (just cheese) with tax, it was $6. This slice is worth like $3.50 max. I would give 3 or 4 stars if the price was more reasonable
This is a small restaurant inside food court. We ordered lasagna and chicken wings. Both items are very delicious. Most importantly, the person took our order and served us, was very friendly and super helpful. He gave us many options and provided details of each food item. Food price is reasonable. Sitting arrangements are great. However parking around this area is very difficult. You can park on paid street parking only for one hour at a time $3.5. Highly recommend to try this great place.
Above-average service. Must try the egg-tomato-Feta sandwich!!
16$ for 2 slices and a pepsi
There wa no sauce in the pizza
Cold pizza
Some of the nicest folks you ll meet, and fantastic food. Thanks!
Easily my favourite restaurant in the entire city, no question. Breakfast and pizza are excellent. Food : 5/5
Great food! Amazing people. Service always comes with a smile. Highly recommend!
Great place, great staff!!
Addicting pizza + great customer service. I bring a lunch from home and still come here lol. Worth a visit for sure!
From the moment we opened the box we could tell this pizza was disgusting! My first words were this is frozen pizza!. It was soggy, bland and firm. The meat tasted exactly like what a cheap, rubbery frozen dinner would taste! Just disgusting. Worst pizza weve ever eaten!
I have been eating at El Toro forever. Working in the downtown core no matter which building I switched to, I would always go back for lunch. The owners are incredible people. Never had such hospitality and great food combined. I was so glad to see Covid didnt beat them. I only wish they had more locations as I would order from home if I could. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Thanks for all you do.
Oh boy, let me tell you about the mind-blowing experience I just had with the medium El Toro Supreme pizza! It was like taking a bite of pure pizza heaven, and I couldnt help but let out a few oohs and ahhs with every tasty mouthful. Now, picture this: a pizza covered in all the good stuff. Were talking tomato sauce, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, pepperoni, bacon, sliced meatballs, and a generous blanket of cheese. This El Toro Supreme had it all, and it was a party for my taste buds from start to finish. But lets talk about the crust, my friends. It was a work of art! Crispy on the outside, yet delightfully chewy on the inside. It was like biting into a cloud of doughy perfection. The crust alone had me thinking, Am I in pizza paradise? Now, as I took my first bite, the flavours exploded in my mouth like fireworks on Canada Day. The tangy tomato sauce set the stage, while the mushrooms, green peppers, and onions added a fresh and satisfying crunch. The pepperoni and bacon brought a smoky and slightly spicy kick that had me reaching for more. And those sliced meatballs... oh boy, they were juicy, tender, and packed with flavour. They took the pizza to a whole new level of indulgence! And the cheese, my friends, the cheese! It was a glorious, melty sea of deliciousness. Every bite was like a stretchy, gooey cheese pull that would make any cheese lover weak in the knees. However, if I had to be nitpicky, I would have loved seeing the cheese get a little more golden and bubbly. But hey, even without that, it was still a cheese lovers dream come true. To sum it up, the medium El Toro Supreme pizza is a pizza lovers fantasy turned reality. Its divine crust, mouthwatering toppings, and explosive flavours make it a truly unforgettable experience. Whether youre a hardcore pizza aficionado or just someone looking for a slice of pure delight, I cannot recommend this pizza enough. Trust me, you wont be able to resist the allure of El Toro Supreme. Go ahead, take a bite, and let your taste buds embark on a pizza adventure theyll never forget!
The service here is always amazing and the staff are very friendly. The staff greet everyone and clearly care about all their customers. There are lots of delicious options on their menu as well! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian pizza and combo slice is really good!
Delicious breakfast and very friendly folks. My go to place for morning downtown breakfast.
I paid 15.71 for two slices of pizza. Never been extorted so hard in my life. Not coming back. Taste was decent but not deserving of the price
nick the owner is ever present and good at both customer service and cooking awesome food eat there every chance I get his wife is also great as well as the dedicated staff...the painter Vegetarian options: veggie pizza is to die for lasagna was authentic goodness
Ordered a small 3 topping pizza with pineapple, ham and bacon. The bacon was not cooked, the dough was very thin and watery and there was almost no tomato sauce. It was just a big mess mixed in with the cheese. I ate half a slice and threw the rest away.
Workers are super friendly, quick service and delicious food! Will be coming back.
Would love to try this again fresh right at the location. Good quality ingredients etc. Should not deliver pizza on tin foil. Makes the pizza soggy. But that being said still better than many in the area
Awesome restaurant with amazing staff! Fast and reasonably priced with great quality! Ordered the large meatlovers pizza, was the best meatlovers Ive ever had, hands down!
Thank you for the delicious pizza!
Tasty pizza and friendly staff, would definitely recommend
Do not get pizza here, cheese was worse than rubber.
Unparalleled hospitality. Such kind service. The pizza is AMAZING. So cheesy. The crust tastes so light and crispy. Living so close to this place is going to be deadly. Cannot wait to try some of their other items like the pizza rolls!
Great service. Quality food
Large, delicious, and generously loaded pizza slices. Very friendly staff.
First time trying here. Pizza is great, and the service is fantastic. Very friendly and personable. Will be back 100%
Great food great service!
Super nice seller, the pizzas are very good and well garnished. I recommend if you are passing through Vegetarian options: Vegan pizza option, without cheese possible for vegan
Best pizza in Ottawa!
First time having their food, felt the need to post a positive review! very generous on the toppings, especially the cheese, I like it when a restaurant cooks their own bacon and the toppings are big and full, not tiny. Also loved the Lasagna and Rottini
Always friendly, always delicious. Small veggie pizza packed with olives and onions hmmmm.
My favourite pizza in Ottawa! Friendly people making the best food. Cant wait to try their lasagna!
Amazing service. The guys here are top notch. The pizza is amazing, and the meat sauce for the pasta is one of the best Ive had. Absolutely amazing place for dinner or lunch, and the breakfast is so good its like you cooked it yourself.
I highly enjoy this place. Not only is the pizza and breakfast amazing but the owner is also such a nice and friendly person. Highly recommend!
BEST PIZZA EVER! They put little tiny pieces of fresh herbs all over the pizza, so good! And the staff are so nice! And cheap pizza! BEST PIZZA IN OTTAWA!
Top quality ingredients makes for a delicious pizza. Best pizza downtown, hands down!!!
Delicious pizza, generous with toppings and cheese. 5 stars!
You will not find a classier group of hard-working people anywhere. Great food for breakfast and lunch and the kind of old-fashioned real customer service that you rarely find anymore. The team is friendly and will go beyond the extra mile to make a customer happy.
This place is great and the serve well prepared Italian Food the right way.
Zero-waste friendly! This business gladly accepts reusable containers. :)
The manager treated me like a family member the first time I ate there. Great experience!
First time stopping by, had a slice of pepperoni and one all dressed just in case I didn t like one or the other. The taste is phenomenal!!! Just the right amount of sauce and ingredients. They are definitely not cheap on the cheese either. Very friendly staff (original reason why I decided to try out this location) best part they didn t push any item on you. I will definitely be stopping in again for lunch.
Great pizza - my choice for lunch, dinner and sometimes breakfast....
One of the best pizza Ive ever had and the pasta amazing too. Slices are big and very flavourful. Not too mention they are just all around great people!
My favourite pizza in Ottawa! Staff is always cery pleasant :) a must try!
Have eaten here many times, literally theee BEST pizza I have ever had!!!!! And staff couldnt be nicer! Me and my coworkers are obsessed with this place!!!!!!
Perfect
Great little shop to get a slice for lunch. Their pizza is a bit more saucy than most Ottawa pizza shops, but it is absolutely delicious and they definitely do not skimp on the cheese!
Had lunch here doe the first time, did the lasagna and ceasar salad and it was really good. The portion was a good size and the price was average for lunch . Will go back for sure!
Pizza-is top notch! Pasta is amazing! The breakfast is to die for! Not to mention they sell their own pasta sauce by the jar and its delicious!! Nick and his wife are super friendly and always upbeat. They treat customers very well and greet all guest the same whether youre a new comer or a returning regular. Thanks for being the way you are and always having the best food in the Minto building.
Delicious and fresh pizza everyday! Such a friendly team. Generous portions, well worth it!
Excellent pizza that is a favorite among downtown folk. Nick provides top-notch service and could not be more accommodating. We will be ordering from here again.
Super good pizzas. Freshly made, especially at lunch time.
If you want a great homemade tasty lasagna, this is the place to go. Very generous portions with lots of sauce. Staff is always smiling and friendly.
This place is great if you like hair baked into your pasta. Also the salad is always starting to brown and a chefs salad consists of lettuce and 2 cucumbers. Pathetic. Wont eat there again.
Wonderful staff great food! Love the Pizza!
Misleading prices on menu. Ordered the 2-large pizza deal and the price was not as advertised on the menu (was charged over $10 additional). Very poor service, unprofessional. Pizza was undercooked and bland.
Pizza was pretty dang good. Cheesy and with just the right crisp and taste.
First I will talk about the breakfast. Theyre probably the best in the area. I tried the typical egg and bacon, and it was delicious. I also tried the breakfast sandwich, Bacon egg and cheese, it was also delicious. You are eating a real sandwich, cook on the spot, and you decide what you want inside. For the lunch, I tried the pizza and the lasagna. Both were really delicious (Yes I used that word again!). About the staff, the friendlier you can find around the area. The owner and his wife are taking to you as you were friends since a long time. If you go often, he will call you with a chosen nickname. They will talk with you while they are cooking your breakfast. It is expansive to eat a breakfast every day but the experience make the every dollar you spend your over there worth it, as long as you dont mind the food court ambiance.
El Toro Pizza at Slater street minto place hands down best pizza in the city.
Excellent Service, huge slices, and the taste is delicious, American Pie style
Really great pizza, fresh and tasty. A tad on the expensive side, 4$ per slice, but its worth it to support locals. Fast lines.
Asked for a poutine.... Literally just 3 ingredients, and it was still messed up. I was under the impression a poutine was gravy, cheese, and fries..... Turns out they think a poutine means pasta sauce, cheap shredded cheese and undercooked fries..... Literally looked at it and threw it away. Anyhooo looks like that was the last buck you get from me or anyone i know. Ohh and the pizza slices there are crap too, right about as good as pizza pizzas
