Best halal Indian restaurant in Ottawa
I got extremely sick after eating here. The eateries at Rideau are not to be trusted. Do not bring your children here. A child could die. That's how dangerous the food is. 4 days after eating here and I am still recovering. It could be Amaya, but the day before I ate at Bourbon St. Grill so there's a possibility that it's them. The fever is quite intense even for an adult like me. Please investigate instead of calling me a liar. (20/11/2024)
We had the Veg combo, which was good quantity, and the food was delicious. The reason for 4 star is the samosa they served with the combo was not good at all, and it was a bit bitter. It almost felt like old stuff was reheated or it was fried in old oil. But everything else was good
Dine in. You’ll be fine but do not takeout without checking what’s being pre-packed (Uber/Skip/Dash). I ordered goat curry and rice, but what I received was mostly gravy and bones. Here's my message to the server: 'Lady, I’d like to see how you'd eat these bones and fat, and maybe then I could make it work.' As a suggestion, consider ethical business practices—without customers, there's no business. I'm disappointed to see the restaurant using the halal label to boost sales, only to deliver substandard food
I ordered chat papdi they gave me papdi without any mint sauce without any tamarind sauce nothing. it was so dry. i asked him to put some yogurt or chutneys but he said he didn’t have any. Very bad experience overall!
Delicious I love this place. Fresh made naan so delicious and butter chicken. The best place in this mall. Wish there was one in Winnipeg Thank you for the great food.
Absolutely delectable experience at AMAYA! I ordered veg plater, and i was so good. Specially Curry Pakora is a true masterpiece of flavors and spices, with each bite bursting with authenticity and aroma. I'm not a fan of curry pakora so I just opted for the rice with veg korma dish and naan. The naan was one of the best. It was freshly made to order and was so fluffy. It was all-in-all simply delicious. I will return again and again… I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a superb Indian food the choices are so simple but good in taste. 🤤 And truly thanks to girls (Sandeep and Simran) they were so nice to me and I really like the way they gave me options for my food.🍱
Some of the highest-quality Indian food I've had at a takeout place. Absolutely everybody should try the garlic naan. The portion sizes are perfect as well, so you won't be hungry afterwards. It's definitely one of the best restaurants in the food court.
The food here is very good while the portions are quite generous. Given my overall positive experiences I expect to come back. That said, for a food court, I find the prices a tad high. Meanwhile , on my latest visit, I was disappointed to see that they are now using plastic forks, knives, and containers. While I am assuming this is due to fallout from the pandemic, I wish they were still using proper plates and cutlery.
Ordered the Naan wrap with beef and spicy sauce. It was indeed spicier than expected. Fast service. Good amount of staff on deck.
The chief was rude but the girl staff was good . Management should act on him! Very bad of him.
The garlic naan and the butter chicken was very tasty
Very friendly staff butter chicken is very good big recommend
I had a wonderful experience at Amaya Express Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious. Simran, was fantastic warm, attentive, and full of great recommendations. I can t wait to return. Highly recommend this place!
It was a fantastic experience a very welcoming atmosphere and friendly workers in particular Simran took excellent care of us. Very timely service in getting our food. I would really recommend it.
Vegetarian options: I ordered a vegetable wrap and I got paneer (cheese) and lettuce. Taste is decent but not what I wanted. Employees seem impatient every time I go. Food
The food was great and the girl at the front desk was very generous and polite!
Ordered online and they missed the item, no value for the customers at all.
I had a great time eating delicious food at this restaurant and the service given by simran was top-notch. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.
Taste was below par , dal makhani was salty , samosa chat lacked flavour and no garlic to be found on garlic naan . Only good thing about this place us their service.
The address is completely wrong and I couldnt find it
tidy place but food is really below par. the masalas are really strong, it gives you a feeling of almost raw taste, . Indian spices are complex fusion of grind spices, this is def not one
Service was really good however the chef s behaviour with the staff seemed disrespectful and unprofessional. I hope the chef takes this feedback seriously and make necessary improvements
Service is great but food is down right bad.
Bought Samosa Chaat. 0 flavor. Very bland and they were using Sriracha sauce. Why would you use Sriracha aauce in Indian food. Tasted bad.
Kindness and flavors! We had a lot of question to ask because there was many dishes we didnt know. The girl that served us was very patient and kind, the food was so flavorfull! Food
Its closed
Very bad taste Clod drink cane not even cool forget about chilled drinks Food
I visited this place in the mall and the staff was really rude and disrespectful. There was this Indian guy with a quirky grin on his face all the time and he did not even tell when to expect the order . Very rude guy .
Worst kind of packaging in wraps
The chef is good and his work mind blowing, but staff dont know the rules ( how to deal with customers)
Good food and good portion size. Had a samosa chana chatt was very tasty and yummy. Tha cashier was really welcoming and polite. Would definitely recommend this place......
This is in the food court. Person at the cash was very kind and informative. Food tasted great! I got the butter chicken, curried lamb and rice.
I have been to Amaya at different locations but this was the worst. Low quality food and service. Order for chat papdi $10 and later the guy informed they dont have it. Asked for a refund he couldnt do that. Instead I ordered for aloo tikki chat. All the 3 items ordered didnt taste good at all. Went back to him to return the aloo tikki, he couldnt refund and couldnt even give anything in replace to that. Argument skills at best. Wouldnt suggest anyone to this location.
The food is not at all up to the mark. Very arrogant service team. I would not recommend anyone who likes Indian food. Please try some other better restaurants.
We had very bad experience here. We ordered food which was not well-cooked, the batter in the onion pakoras were still raw. We also ordered for chat papadi, but the person said it wasn t available and no refund was given so he suggested to order aloo tikki chaat instead. Unfortunately aloo tikki chat was horrible. We went to complain about the food he said he can t give refund and even the owner was hiding inside the kitchen even if we wanted to talk to him directly he send his employee in front. Even though it was their suggestion they didn t have the decency and ethics to give us refund or give us some discount. Aloo tikki chaat was for 9.50$ and he offered us to give one gulab jamun worth 2.50$. Very bad experience with the food and customer service. Would never recommend this place to anyone
The food was too oily. The packing was not good. I just got a paper cover which was sacked with the oil from the food. To make the food hot, they fried it again in oil. They could have heated it in the oven.
I just loved it.
Service was very friendly and food was the best Indian I have had in Canada on the whole.
Food is absolutely delicious. Fresh and tasty. Service is fast and pleasant.
good indian food. Good price. Good quantity.
A must visit at the Rideau centre! I m so delighted they brought back their famous in house made naan bread. THANK YOU THANK YOU
My daughters first restaurant experience with Indian food. Best service and food,in a shopping mall food court! And a decent price :)
Vegetable wrap was so amazing. Me and my friends like the food. Best service provided.
I love the food !!Not too expensive for what you get Lots of choises and the naam bread is made on spot so its DELICIOUS !!Of course for atmosphere its located in the rideau center so alot of noise and people !!But for the rest !!I will surely go back
Staff was welcoming at first but they scammed me with a 9 DOLLAR SAUCE!!!! I asked for a butter chicken with rice bowl and the worker ended up giving me a sauce bowl. I went up to them asked them what is this? They started being very rude! NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN! Utterly disappointed. Had no food at home so i had to eat this and was very hungry the whole day. Wasn t enough..
The staff was bad in many ways: - quiet - rude ( laughed at someone for walking away after feeling the food was too expensive ) - slow - incredibly unhelpful The food was: - bland - too salty - my bone-in food was more bone than meat, with plastic forks that dont help. - the fresh food was not rotated properly. They just put the new food directly on top of the old food - Too expensive for what they give The Amaya express at the St. Laurent mall is way better than this one will ever be with its current staff. I would be embarrassed to own this location, especially given that it is in the large Rideau mall. Not a good look. Will never return.
I recommend. Diverse and very spicy Indian . We chose the Royal platter, onion Bhaji and the mango lassi
I had an amazing experience here. The staff were very welcoming and gave me an amazing experience there. The food was amazing especially the knaans there! 10/10
Absolutely an incredible find (at the back of the food court) & the variety to select from is amazing. The flavours linger on the palate for longer enjoyment. I required assistance because none of it was familiar. Staff is very patient. I got a sauce with goat & another with chicken. I also tried all 3 spiced breads. I will definitely order takeout from here, every time I go to the Rideau Centre. Dietary restrictions: I have no allergies nor food restrictions but I notice lots of signs that say gluten free & vegetarian Wheelchair accessibility: It s in the Rideau Centre food court
Rude waiters
Over all experience is good but the chef behaviour is not good with the staff i feel very bad for the staff because his way of talking is not professional.
I tried Alloo Tikki Chat, but it was sour, and I think they have been using the same yogurt for months
Having th worst food as they are serving 1month old dahi (yogurt) and Aloo Tkki Chaat. Also having Paneer Butter Masla in menu but not serving anytime. Worst experience ever. Food
Excellent, tasty Indian cuisine. I tried the naan tikka, delicious.
Service provided by employees was so good. I enjoyed my meal
Excellent food, fresh and delicious.
Good customer service
I recommend this Halal certified restaurant. Very welcoming and attentive staff, even the chef asked us our opinion on the dishes. We wanted to try it so much but we were afraid it would be too spicy for our taste, the Chicken Briani was super good with 2 generous and super good portions of chicken. We asked for fries and got a very large box. We cant wait to try other dishes from them
The only thing I would change is the saltiness but the flavors cannot be compared!!! Loved it and the cashier was super nice to me!
Amazing garlic naan. Best in the city
Really great place to eat
One of the worst place to eat specially the one at Rideau centre I m not sure how others rated you more than 2* ..u charge for Garlic naan and then serve the ready made naan we donot go to restaurant to eat MTR or any other packed food ,not for market owned ready made naan ..:. If some one has to eat that kind of food they can simply go to any Indian supermarket or ( even Walmart have that now a days) and just heat and eat
Delicious Indian food. Very tasty and healthy. The best option in the food court of Rideau Centre
This place has the best goat curry. The combos are great.. sufficient quantity, good taste, nominal cost!
They charge extra for water. Just ridiculous
Who would have thought a food court would have the best Indian food. We have been several times and have never been disappointed! Food is hot, flavourful and the spices are perfect. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Slow service, very disorganized, overpriced for what you get
worst customer service ever experienced
Never visit this restaurant very bad food
The best place I have ever been too . The service was fantastic.. I am recommending this place to everyone
Waste of money super expensive and bad taste
Bad food.
The best place to get Indian food. Staff is super friendly. Curries are super fresh and hot.
They have the best quality Indian food. Highly recommended. Prices are good for the quantity you get.
I ordered food for take out and was amazed to see the quantity of a bowl. I had to share it with my friend because i couldn t finish it all by myself. The staff is really nice and friendly. Food is just finger licking good. Highly recommended to anyone who wana have good tasty food
Food was not fresh. Meat tasted very old and disgusting. Contacted the store and they were very rude about it. AVOID
This place is AMAZING!! I go there every time I m at Rideau and they never disappoint! The food is always so fresh, their Biryani is honestly the best I ve had yet in Ottawa. I highly recommend this place if you re looking for great Indian cuisine!! Kid-friendliness: All the workers are so polite and positive, they always have a great smile on them which I love! I go with my kids and they are always so very patient with them!
I have eaten here many times and they never seem to disappoint! They have great service and the food is just exquisite!!! Their biryani and butter chicken is my favourite! I always come here just to get their biryani! I 100% recommend this restaurant if you re looking for a amazing food for a really good price!!
Worst food ever in the name of indian food. However the only thing I like is caned coke.
Owner/Manager bad hygiene; cross contamination wearing gloves while touching food and simultaneously operating the computer and interact machine. Food bad.
Excellent service and great food with top quality
Food quality is very poor
Worst food and won t recommend to anyone
As someone who know what real palak Paneer or chole looks and tastes like , I really did not like the taste of the gravy. Looks like the owner is saving on butter/cream as the Palak Paneer gravy tasted like a green spinach water and it was tasteless. Real authentic gravy should be smooth . Moreover, Paneer was not even fresh. It was tasting stale and was too hard to even chew. Chole tasted nothing like authentic Indian chole-masala. No wonder why this restaurant has a rating of 3.5. Even the person in the front counter was quite hostile towards the customers. Tasteless food and worst customer service.
I used to think this place was really good but the quality seems to have gone down and they no longer make fresh naan, they just reheat premade ones on a flattop
I ordered a butter chicken wrap and sadly it contained only 4 mini cubes of chicken (less than 50grams) and the wrap was so thin and paid more than $14 for it. Which it wasn t enough for a meal. Ii was just the flour tortilla and the chicken. I definitely never came back to eat here. So expensive and cheap on the portions.
Ordered a mango lassi and chicken madras from the Rideau location on Canada Day, July 1st. Got the meal super fast but found a slightly raw chicken piece... Chicken wasnt warm but basmati rice was hot/cooked properly at least. Only good thing about the meal was the sauce. Did get diarrhea so most likely hadnt realize I ate a slightly raw piece of chicken before finding the other one by cutting it open with my fork.
The butter chicken is sooo delicious and perfect naan and perfect potato samosa
Portions are small, naan bread is worse than those cheep store bought ones. The butter paneer is not fresh either.Too overpriced. Also the mango lasse was disgusting.
Delicious, flavorful, food. One of the only decent halal places in ottawa. Their butter chicken is excellent. I 100% recommend this place. Food : 5/5 |
Delicious butter chicken and great service.
I tried a few different things and it was amazing. Met the owner and his family and are wonderful. Will definitely go again!
Surprised to have such perfectly made Indian food in the mall
Good food, nice value for money.
Spicyyyyyyy even for people who eat spicy foods. Take the none spicy options. The prices are quite high but the quantity and the quality are good for the prices. Suitable for muslim and vegans.
Great food and great taste
I used to come here all the time when I passed through the Rideau center more often. It hasnt changed in quality, Im happy to say. I always get butter chicken with butter Naan. The Naan is made fresh to order and is always hot and fluffy. The butter chicken is pretty good, lightly spicy. The prices are a little steep for me but it beats eating at Subway lol. Id pay the price for this any day.
The food is varied and delicious.
I wish I could give this place a higher review but they up-charged me by adding a tip to the total without my consent. Very disappointing.
Ive been to this location a few times and always found the food and portions to be quite good. If I could make one suggestion, I would suggest at least 2 veg and dairy free options (or clearer signage about what you can get in a platter). I ordered a veg platter, not realizing that I could not get the vegan labeled options from the left side of the food. It had to be from the right side. Unfortunately, there was only one option for me. The service was not great when I asked what I could do, telling them I could not have cream. In the end, I was given something from the left side, and the food was good, but it took some time and frustration (on both ends, unfortunately).
Worst indian street food ever I tasted . Total waste of money.
I was given cold chicken and told I was unable to receive a refund because I chose to not have it microwaved in plastic, then I was laughed at for being told I can not have my money back when I was upset. Dont waste your money here, terrible food and terrible disrespectful service
The food is really delicious! But the staff is also amazing! I wanted something that wasn t on the menu (only with chicken and I am vegetarian) so the chef cooked for me without me even knowing. So thoughtful, thank you!! Vegetarian options: Many delicious vegetarian options
Food was bland . The butter chicken was spicy but no flavor. The garlic nann was good. They had a mango lassi on the menu but they werent selling it anymore.
I ordered 3 things and one of them was uncooked, other was ice cold like its been cooked since the morning and served in evening. Very bad experience
Food is really bad. Not gonna come back. Samosas were cold and undercooked.
My experience here was very bad I ordered 3 things and all the food was cold and below average in taste. Food
Best butter chicken poutine in town will recommend highly and thanks for the service especially to Bàljinder who do an excellent job
Have the butter chicken poutine. Born and raised Canadian, I m telling you it is a splash of Canadian mixed with the fine cuisine India has to offer. Unreal
Horrible service and rude staff provided very cold food and when asked to heat it up did not and misbehavied
Need to improve the quality of food.
Never had this place before but I definitely will again!! It was delicious today! The lady at the front (wish I remembered her name) was an absolute doll! Very pleasant gal :)
The food was really tasty. I love the garlic naan in this place they are so good. I find a chance to talk with the person whomade the naan and his name was harkirat, i appreciated him well as i loved the naan so much than any other places. Everything over here tastes delicious especially the currys. I would really like to identify and appreciate one of the server there. Anmol, she served food for me and my family with a very pleasant attitude and friendly communication. We all loved her service. I would definitly recommend this place in terms of food and service.
Disappointed. Charged me for $16.00 for Butter Chicken with 3 small pcs of chicken inside. Really Guys? Feels like i was ripped off...
Earlier this week I came here this week for lunch. I tried their Butter Chicken and it was amazing. The service here was amazing despite it being a little busy. Anmol was very sweet and had the friendliest service Ive experienced in awhile. Would rate more than 5 stars if possible. Great job to everyone working at Amaya :)
A few weeks ago I visited this place for lunch. I had the veg korma that was super yummy. I distinctly remember Anmol who suggested the option in the first place. She was very warm and provided an excellent service. I would come back again.
I love Indian food very yummy thank you
Not satisfied with their service this time. We ordered veggie plater. It looks like they cooked a frozen naan and served it even one of the veggie taste like they put a lot of coconut oil in it. Chana veggie was good though.
Tasty Chicken Biryani & Gulab Jamin After a long time tasted yummy biryani.Full spices and good quantity Highly recommended !
Very tasty, chicken biryani and butter chicken, really delicious , I hate spicy food, but this is not spicy but delicious I recommend it
The food is good but the value is not there for the price you pay
I ordered chicken biryani and combs 2 you could tell the food was not fresh and it was cold and I did not like at all waste of my money
Best Indian food in Rideau mall. Love their butter chicken
Food quality I found was fair to below standard. I tried chicken biryani and it tasted no where like biryani. I seemed boiled rice with just spices and chicken thrown into it. Lady who brought my spicy fries did not even acknowledge my polite thank you and walked away. How rude and poor customer service. But on the other hand I tried aloo tiki chat which was good. I think there is a room for improvement and combining excellent customer service with authentic quality of food service
The quality of food was so bad. The last time I visited, I really like it, the food was fresh and tasty. But this I think I wasted my money. Not even a single item was tasty. No fresh naan. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Let me just preface this by saying that it takes a lot for me to complain. Ive occasionally gotten food from Amaya a few times without issues, but my last trip there was extremely disappointing. I hesitate to say it outright, but it was plain disgusting. I ordered a meat/veggie combo which included the butter chicken and saag paneer. Ive ordered both of these before, from Amaya and other locations. But this time, the paneer tasted hard, old, rubbery, and not like *cheese*. I was so taken aback by this that I rinsed off the pieces that were left in my meal and as you can see by the picture... Well, those hard, orange pieces dont look like any paneer Ive eaten before. To me, it seemed like they honestly put old paneer into the new curry which I hope not, but it was horrible. Even with spices, Ive never had paneer taste or look like this did. Really disappointing, to say the least, as I loved the convenience of having an indian restaurant in the mall, but I cant see myself ordering from them again after this.
I went today to order chicken beryani, beef stew, naan and samosas. I regret why I wasted my money. The food was horrible. The beryani was more like stew then the rice had 2 spoons chould not take more than that . The naan was old and cold. The samosa was not fresh probably 2-3 days old just warmed up with abosolutly no taste and under cooked. I wish I was able not stoped there. I will never shop from there. Don t waste your money not worth a penny.
Best food in Rideau mall beeef vindaloo was delicious. We Would definitely come back to this place.
Yes it s in a food court. But this is some of the BEST most delicious and flavorful Indian food I have EVER tried! The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly! Highly recommend if you re around the mall and looking for a delicious meal.
One of the best food I have had among all Indian restaurants. It s always been fresh and delicious. Also , staff members are really humble and friendly to customers. Keep doing great work.
Service and the food is perfect. Staff members are very nice.
Worst quality of food.
I have oderd two tikki chat They didn t put stuff like onions tomatoes etc zero stars for food
Good and halal food but spicy
Travelled to Ottawa to speak on EDI to the future Medical Students at the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. Bonus Rideau Center to enjoy some amazing authentic Indian food. This is by no means mall food. #Yum #WorthTheDrive
Very poor food quality,I tried chaat papari and smosa chana chaat. Both doesn t tasted fresh. The taste was horrible same as prices. Even the pop weren t so cold. I don t recommend this at all.
my experience here was amazing. I came here for lunch today, the service from the young girl was amazing, Anmol I believe is her name. She was so friendly from the greeting. I was uncertain of what to purchase as I am quite unfamiliar with the food, and she walked me through the basics and suggested me an exquisite dish. Fantastic service, there should be more people like her out there.
Very quick and very friendly
I was presently surprised at the amount of food I was given.(especially after reading the reviews). I ordered a combo with Beef Vidaloo and Chana Masala plus 2 samosas it came up to 21$. After seeing what they dished out, my husband and I decided to share it. It was amazing, good seemed fresh. It was a little spicy for me but I had water and it went down well. Great job !!
Very delicious, I recommend the biryani and butter chicken
Pretty decent Desi style food. Really recommended if you like Indian food. Thanks guys!
So so so..I went to Amaya, for the 2nd time. I took a beef curry and tikki chat! I was curious about the tikki chat because of the name. Didnt know what was it...and yeah Im kind of glad I did that choice. The beef curry you already know (spicy, you can litteraly taste India in the plate with so many rich flavours). But the tikki chat...the tikki chat thooo.. Didnt expect to eat a vegan plate that good. It contains potato yogurt Indian essential flavour and of course PIMENTÉ. The hot pepper poking your tongue and the yogurt cooled it off. Like a bittersweet situation.. Amaya Express at Rideau centre Ottawa, well done!
This place is the best Indian food we ve had. We visited Ottawa for a few days and we made it a point to come here everyday for lunch. The food is extremely flavorful and fresh. I personally enjoyed the goat curry with rice and garlic naan, while my wife enjoyed their butter chicken and chicken madras with the rice and garlic naan. Others with us enjoyed their butter chicken poutine which I personally didn t try.
Over all the food was delicious, but disappointed in the naan they served us Costco garlic naan the main important part of Indian food is the naan. I had asked for the authentic naan was told the tandoori machine is not working I wish I told before paying 10$ for 3 naan when a whole pack Costco is 6$
The people at Amaya Express were very nice to me and patiently explained the menu while I asked way too many questions. Big thank you to Amul
Their naan over has been broken for over a year and it seems they have no intention to fix it. Very disappointed
The food was excellent, fresh and hot (had a vegetarian curry and a samosa).
Overpriced for what you get.
Samosa was stale!
1st time eating at Amaya yesterday, at the Rideau centre. Staff was very friendly, gave great recommendations and the food was delicious! The portions were a great size & I had leftover for lunch today. Will be back!
Too much spice not up to what it looks
Surprisingly good considering its food court indian food, I always love it.
Delicious food and plenty of options. Best place to eat in the mall. Would 100% recommend :)
Had the beef vindaloo! It was mad spicy but VERY delicious!!
I ordered biryani from here. There was 0% salt in it. How can you guys expect people to eat something without salt? Also, it was too oily. I could find a thick layer of oil below the rice.
10 year latter! After we had to go back 3 times to get our food correct. They finally got it. Well what can I say 3 times a charm. So if you feel like spending your lunch in line....
Its been so long since i have been to amaya and was really pleased to recieve such customer service. Thanks Sanimer Singh for this pleasant experience
Absolutely disgusting.. Nothing else to say
Food quality was so bad.
The food is absolutely awful! Everything was super greasy and bland. There was a single piece of chicken in the chicken biryani. Completely disappointed
Ordered for 22 people. This place was Amazing ! Everyone was really impressed. It was all warm. Not one complaint. And that juice was wonderful! Thanks to you and the team!
Authentic flavors and good quantity for price. Dont forget the Raita
The top tier experience for Indian fast food style, Amaya has massive portions, delicious food with the caveat being you will pay more for sides. While it entails spending a bit more than an average fast food lunch it is sincerely worth the price and the food itself is varied, delicious and plentiful. Make sure to get a garlic naan and mango lassi
we order papri chat the thing is that there was not any sauces and onions in that which is main ingredient in that and when I said to cook but he behaves rude with us. To impress customer he should have to behave good. At the end its totally wastage of money.
Please update your store hours, I have now come here 4 weeks in a row trying to buy food during my break at 10h on Thursdays and have been consistently told by the staff that they were only going to be open at 10h40. I love your food and really hate leaving reviews like this but either fix your opening hours on Google or tell your staff to be open and ready to serve when you say you will be.
First time eating here but not first time eating Indian food. Let me tell you the food is very salty. Overpowers other spices and make it very tasteless. The Madras and the vindaloo aren t even spicy as they are supposed to be.
The food prices are quite high. They sell one vegetarian samosa for 2.99 plus taxes. Nowhere in Canada, one can find samosa of this price. We had two samosas on March 4,2020. The staff reheated in some oil and it was still rotten. I would advise food lovers not to visit this place. Even their kanata Amaya is selling stale food.
Great food
Had a great meal at Amaya! Seeing them cook the naan from scratch was awesome and delicious! Highly recommend!
Food was amazing and excellent service there
The food i bought- chicken biryani- was too salty and had too much chili. Dnt put so much salt in foods
This is the best restaurant in the mall, and possibly the best Indian food Ive had in Ottawa. I eat here nearly every week, and I will continue.
The naan was literally reaheated naan from the grocery store.
They microwaved the Naan. The chicken seemed tough like its been frozen for a while. It was not horrible but I was caught by surprise. They used to be way better
bad experience not healthy
the food is okay. the service is not. The staff were pushy, and kind of unfriendly.
I goto Amaya Express twice a week at least and have been going there since I moved to Ottawa 3 years ago, most reasonable price in town and good quantity. My favorites are Mango lassi, Biryani and Samosa.
Had the Combo 3 where they include 2 meat option for 16 dollars. It was only plain rice with about 7 small pieces of meat and tons of gravy. Value wise this place is terrible! To be fair, their gravy was tasty spicy. However it doesnt justify the big price tag when others nearby is serving with better value. I had the meal 6 hours ago and forgot to review the place. It was such a bad experience that I had to go through my credit card history and come up with the name and looking it up and then posting the review. So you know this review isnt BS!
Giving this a 3 star because the other food looked good. However, I ordered a chicken wrap and it was not good at all. The naan was hard like a rock, tasted like sriracha and nothing really good about it. Quite disappointed
I mean it was good, but everything was so spicy. I got 2 combo 2. Palek paneer, chicken madras, beef vindaloo and another veggie dish. All very tasty but hard to enjoy it when its so spicy, we always order indian dishes and this is the first time we agreed this is too spicy. We also got onion bhaji however also very spicy, and still raw onions in the middle and like a paste. Naan tasted like any other kind.of naan Ive had in the past. Unfortunately because we did not eat in the food court we could not address it right away. I was very surprised that the food was so spicy for a food court. We will not be ordering from here again, 40$ worth for food we could hardly enjoy.
Great place. Had real Indian tasty food there.
I had the chick peas and rice, well seasoned. Not sure why people are talking about not getting enough food, the quanity was perfect. The sauce was excellent and my peas were not mushy and enjoyable. I work in the industry and Im completely satisfied wih the quality received. Thank you for an excellent supper.
The butter chicken and nana is excellent. Tasty and hot and reasonably priced
Royal platter is the best. My friend said Its good.
Food is good service was also not to bad ..but most of the items they didnt have at rush hours super time
Love how light their food is ! Their wraps are made with freshly baked nan breads and are so filling and yum ! Staff is really courteous and the food is definitely worth the price .
Food is good but the staff is so unprofessional they don t know how to speak or reply. I visited this restaurant 4-5 times but every time. i found them very rude.
This location is definitely not as good as the other ones. Initially, I was going to leave a review myself but seeing the way you reply to your customers (or in this case the customers you ve lost) is not really professional. From one business owner to another, I think it s crucial to handle constructive criticism. Your customers are taking their time to leave your restaurant a review based on YOUR service and YOUR staffs, the least you can do is stop getting defensive when customers have a negative opinion. This should be an opportunity to learn and maybe take their opinion into account (especially if more than one person are saying the same thing). For example, you can suggest a solution, apologize for their experience, or even compensate; not just agree and tell them to go other places. You don t create customer loyalty this way and this is certainly not how you should be replying to customers when they have a complaint. As a business owner I think customer satisfaction is what makes businesses successful. Thus, let your staff know about the complaints and find ways to improve (whatever it is). You cant just be defensive towards customers that didnt like something about your restaurant or service because its the customer that brings their money to you. Based on how you advise others people to go and eat at different places, I really hope that more and more people will take your advice and be loyal customers elsewhere.
Hasnt had naan in months but still charges full price. I miss ordering cause the food is delicious. Edit; a response to the owners comment. Yes. That is what a review is. Your service has noticeably gone down hill in the last year which has driven me and my spouse to stop ordering here.
Canadas best samosas and the mint sauce is the best . Good service .
They are always out of aloo naans! I dont know if it is because they dont have potatoes? Or if it is because they just dont wanna make it! Its so annoying when you come to the mall hoping you get the food you want and leave empty handed.
Goat curry was so tasty... And curries are not over spicied... Good service
Good service and tasty food
I got the butter chicken, spinach with cheese with rice and a salad on the side. The service was fast and it was a busy line, which is a good sign. The butter chicken was pleasantly spicy with a lot of sauce as was the spinach. The cheese pieces (paneer) are a good size. I enjoyed my meal very much!
Pretty good selection but the rice can sometimes be a bit soggy for my taste and the staff can be a bit slow
