Super place with ambience of 80s...great food also..Only negative thing to say is they never answer the phone, NEVER.

The Rooster never disappoints on a Friday night!

The place is a little rough around the edges, as would be expected in a bar in this area, but the food was great, and the staff was excellent! Reasonably priced, too. The live band, who apparently play their pretty regularly, were lots of fun.

Fairly good food. Friendly service. The specials and music events are very good. Prices are better than average for the area.

One word: AWFUL After 1 hour of waiting we decided to leave because they were still 30mins away from beginning to cook our order. Worst part was the place was empty, so there was no excuse for this inefficiency. After deciding to leave the owner told us we couldn t because they had already began our order (false) and then they charged for four coffees. I knew Ottawa was a government city but I didn t know business took that as an excuse to offer terrible service.

Very good service the two evenings we went there. The food is good and plentiful and there is a lot of choice on the menu. Very nice restaurant for a very good price.

Place is great. Took my lady out we love dancing. From walking in to be seated awesome staff. The band was a blast food and vibe super fun. 100 recommend if you want fun vibe.

Very discriminatory.

The karaoke host on Thursday interrupts many people singing. The bar staff take over half hour to bring a drink. Even longer to get their attention. Service is awful. Bathrooms are gross. 0/10 would not recommend. This isnt a friendly atmosphere.

Unpretentious and cozy place. Food was good. Love that they have quarts. But the highlight was our server Evan, so genuine and personable.

REALLY great food! So many different comfort food options, a food special every day of the week and the kitchen is open until 1am every night. Free entertainment most days of the week including some of Ottawas best local bands, 2 karaoke nights, trivia and paint nights. Local artists work featured on the walls every month. 24 beers on tap. Check it out! Vegetarian options: Veggie Chili, Portobello Wrap, Hummus and fresh made flatbread, Veggie Burger Wheelchair accessibility: Theres about a 1½ inch lip at the front door that most wheelchairs can easily get over. The washrooms are a tight squeeze as its another old building on bank street.

Lovely little dinner with kind staff and great affordable food! Their veggie option was really good. Vegetarian options: Avocado toast was great with generous servings of guacamole. The home fries and beans were great too!

We arrived at 11:45 in the morning for brunch and we think they must have been understaffed because it took them 20 minutes to take our order. It then took a long time for our food to come out. I had the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce tasted off. The homefries were really good, though. My parents ordered the Morning Basics breakfast and both of their eggs were really runny when they asked for over medium and over hard. The servers were nice but slow and forgot to get hot water for tea that we ordered. Overall the experience was slow and the food was okay. It might have just been an off day. It was busy and there werent many people working.

Such a chill vibe at the rooster. They are all super nice and hilarious. They seem genuinely happy to have you visit, want to make sure you get what you are looking for, and have a good time. We went for lunch but they have live music which seems like it would be super awesome. Lots of cool character in this place.

The house beer was great, but the food was okay. The inside is full of paintings and they do have live music, which is nice. The service was good. All in all, it s worth to be visited at least once.

This is a fun place to go for beer and wings. It feels like a neighborhood bar with regular customers. Its a friendly place. We have gone on Friday nights when they have a band playing.

Came here with a couple friends for a few drinks and food on Boxing Day. A really cool place, I especially appreciate all the artwork. There are a ton of pieces on the walls for sale, the walls are all colourfully painted and even the tables have unique designs! Great drink menu and the food menu had a few non-standard bar/pub items like butter chicken and gumbo. Ill definitely be back on a busier night for some more food and drinks!

Fantastic Sunday Brunch with a huge selection!

Food tastes okay, for a pub, pretty decent. Has a special everyday almost. Tuesday butter chicken, Sunday shepherd pie and so on. Karaoke night Thursday after 10pm. customer with different characters, has a feeling of a community pub with arts on the wall.

Love the vibe of this place, and the food is well above average. The rotating taps have become a bit of a disappointment, however.

I m from out of town and overall such a great experience to have dinner and a live show. It s hard to come by a solid place like this. Staff was friendly. We got the classic build your own burgers and some chicken wings. You can never go wrong

Best eggs Benedict Ive had in Ottawa. If the hollandaise isnt made from scratch, they had me fooled. Crispy homefriea and strong coffee. Cool atmosphere and I was surprised it wasnt busy.

While I did enjoy the food and the service, some of their so-called wall art was very irreverent and I found it disturbing and offensive. I will not eat there again if it still hangs on the wall.

Our experience at Atomic Rooster, was terrible. We walked in on live music night - the music was so loud I was barely able to hear the people around me or the waiter. When we finally put in our order, the food came approximately 50 minutes later. The food was subpar. As we were wrapping up, we saw two cockroachs near the wall where we were sitting. We informed the waiter, and she killed one with her napkin, and the other with her hand. When asked if they see them here often, she replied no its the first time we saw them in that corner (which makes me think she has seen them elsewhere in that establishment). By that point, we were very disappointed and had to settle our bills and leave right away. I do not recommend this spot.

Evan was great to chat with. Cool barman. The customer beside me was super nice, she reccomended the pierogies and they were the bomb. Butter chicken for only 14$ was so flavorful as well. Ill definitely stop by again when I come to Ottawa.

The people who go to the bar are very kind people but the people who serve drinking are always so negative. They want you to get out of the bar as soon as possible with out getting to know you. They have no empathy!

Food is actually quite good! Love all the art they have! Servers are very friendly. Nice local watering hole. Vegetarian options: Theres a really great portobello mushroom pizza thats vegetarian!

Ive been to Ottawa dozens of times and thanks to a recommendation at Queen Street Fare (you should also check that out) we came here for Monday night Karaoke. A fantastic dive bar (and Im from Victoria which has its share of those). Fun atmosphere, the food looked great and the beers were cheap and plentiful. Recommend.

This place is fantastic!! The food is fresh, homemade and delicious! The walls are covered in art left by artists with their selling price just below the frames! Absolutely beautiful works which are changed every month! The staff truly care and cater to all your needs. Great service! I can t wait to go back there again!!

Stopped in for brunch and the food and staff were incredible. They were very attentive to everyone who came in and had great conversations. It was a fun time and they made sure to make everybody feel welcome. We came back for the band later in the evening and enjoyed them as well. Thanks for making memories with us in Ottawa! I want to give it one star so that one of my favourite pubs doesnt get over run but they are too kind for me to do that to them. Great selection of local and mass beers, simple standard pub fare done well.

Great brunch experience! Arrived quite early before 11am and service was quick and attentive. Food was lovely with good portions, I look forward to returning. However, as we went on a Sunday, by the time we were done with brunch close to 12pm, the place was much more crowded and it was clear they are short staffed. Big kudos to the staff for remaining incredibly friendly, despite rush hour and being stretched thin.

Easy going restaurant/bar on Bank Street. Would recommend if your looking for a place thats got an older Ottawa feel - they have live music at night, serve brunch and have a good (and changing) selection of beers!

Fun place great venue , staff and food

This is a great spot with a lot of character. The food is good and the service is quick. Its also a little quieter as its not in the main restaurant district, but still is in a great central location. Definitely recommend checking it out if youre nearby.

Waiter forgot to put our order in, waited an hour, he then came back over took our order again and half an hour later we all got extremely burnt burgers. By that point we were so hungry we could have eaten a shoe. Place was dead so not sure how our order slipped his mind

I have not been here in years. Popped in for one beer. A few people at the bar knew me, I have lived here a long time. Placed my order. After about six minutes nothing appeared, so I left. See you again 10 years from now I guess.

Where do I start, went for brunch and the food was pathetic. Eggs Benny, the eggs were hard, the hollandaise sauce was something else still cant figure it out. Home fries were old, hard and cold. I can make much better breakfast at home. Service was another issue but lets blame it on covid and staff shortage. Avoid it or you can experience it for yourself

Went for drinks and kareoki on monday. The atmosphere was great and the kareoki host was cool. Would like to comeby next time for food. They also have live music, on some days, i believe.

Poor quality food. I ordered a cheese burger and fries and the beef patty tasted weird. Small portion of fries and soft fountain drinks which are flat. First and last time at this restaurant.

I really like this bar and I used to go every few months before covid. I like that it is not pretentious and its always consistent with great service. I got takeout Friday night but there was a problem with my order. Called them up and right away they offered to fix. Unfortunately I was already home and could not return to pick up that night. They offered to honor the meal another night. I picked you today and it was so good. The service here is so great. Cant wait to return for live music great nachos and awesome breakfast. Keep up the good work.

PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! My friends and I literally got refused to be served by the one of servers for absolutely no valuable reasons and we didnt anything wrong! We just asked politely for a couple stuff like to bring the menu (there was none on the table) and an umbrella for the table because of the sun. Apparently the staff didnt like that. Not only they were ignoring us for a while before that but after we asked for the menu, one of servers came back saying that he wont serve us because we were treating him like a servant and then to go kick rocks which didnt make any sense we never said anything rude to him since the beginning. Will definitely never go back there. Seriously the staff need to do better this behaviour is unacceptable.

My POC friend and I were subjected to racism by one of the servers (apparently hes the owner too? lol). Never would I have ever thought that asking for a menu warrants refusal of service (there were no menus on the table and we were being ignored for 20 min while a table across from us with ALL WHITE people was getting serviced by the second). Oh he also told us to go kick rocks for apparently hurting his deranged feelings. Regardless, better food can be made in your kitchen with 2 eggs and a toast..

Chili and wing night are fantastic

The burgers were ok, the beer selection wasnt very large. If you sit outside, be prepared to deal with the local homeless asking for money/food. The manager did a good job helping us have a quiet dinner.

Excellent service and delicious brunch. We visited on a Saturday morning as a group of five, on the recommendation of a local foodie. Donny, our server, made sure we had a fun and entertaining time, with prompt service. We each ordered different meals, and everyone relished their breakfast. My special request for Smoked Brisket on the Eggs Benedict was accommodated with a smile. The central location of the Atomic Rooster makes it an excellent jumping off place for adventures on Bank Street, the Canal or the Market. Couldn t have asked for a better start to our Saturday.

Exactly what I look for in a dive bar. Had a great sense of community and Donny Jr was a superstar. Seemed like he was running the whole place on his own when we came in and he was doing a stellar job. Wish we couldve come back for karaoke night!

Went here for breakfast and had the Island Breakfast. Included in-house made Jamaican patties that were absolutely amazing. Served alongside eggs and deliciously crispy homefries with a Jalapeno Gravy. Super tasty breakfast, that had an extra flare on top of the regular eggs, homefries and toast. Wait staff were also super nice, and they made sure to check for vaccination status. Highly suggest this place that is a step up from most places serving breakfast downtown!
