Back to Brooklyn is based on Brooklyn New York authentic food, ambience and vibe. Shabby Chic style.
I have been to this bar a few times. It is a small bar with a small space patron use for dancing. It is up and down ranging from busy to very quiet. Usually, it is free admissions but sometimes they charge $10 cover which is not too bad compared to the one across the street (Room 104 bar charges $20 if you are well dressed and assess that you can afford it). Bartenders are nice and fast serving. Usually I drop by here for a short time from Lookout (during the half hour breaks there. I have a separate review of Lookout). Last time I was at Brooklyn it was Saturday of two weeks ago. Usually they have a polite security on the outside but two weeks ago there was a rude one on duty. I was searched like a suspected criminal. I got in and inside was quiet but since the admission was free I didn't mind. I got myself a drink and soon a couple of lovely girls started dancing with me and I dance and had fun for a few minutes. Then it was time to get back to the top of the bars (Club Lookout). It is an okay place to be on those Saturdays when there is free admissions.
The restaurant is nice and aesthetically pleasing. The atmosphere is very friendly, but the dishes are a bit expensive for the quantity. The pizzas are quite small, and the waitress automatically added a 20% tip herself… I’m not sure if I would recommend this restaurant.
3 of us had dinner on the patio. The food was delicious and generous portions. 2 of us shared a salad with figs, and had 1/3 left to take home. I had sliders, very tasty. I was full after 1 1/2 sliders, took rest home. Husband had mushroom risotto with steak added in it. Adult son had barbecue chicken pizza. We all enjoyed our meals. Server was very good, attentive and friendly. She gave us a complimentary slice of cheesecake for my husband’s birthday. Suggestions for improvements: There were only 2 types of beer, Corona and one other type. The patio seats seemed too low for the table. The street view was obscured by the horizontal wood panels of the patio; lower panels would allow patrons to see the action of the Byward Market. I recommend this restaurant.
Great food and service. Good for girls night or fancy date. The place is really cute but it’s small inside. They have a lovely patio though.
Got the queens garden cocktail and it was delicious! Got the baked Brie as well which was also good, they had a cute little rave clothing swap going on inside while I was eating and this lady gave me a bracelet! Love!!
We were able to get a last minute table after originally being turned away. The hostess called us back a few minutes after we hung up as she was able to rearrange something for us. They use QR code menus here which was easy enough to navigate. Service was a bit slow given there was only one person working the entire dining room - she was great nonetheless. The kitchen closes around 9pm when the place flips over to more of a club with a DJ setting up as we were wrapping up our meal. The cocktails were delicious, the bottles of wine were reasonably priced, and the food options were diverse.
Wow it's pretty in here! Although it is narrow, it has an intimate feel. We ordered the tuna tatake bowl, and the veggie burger and we were not disappointed. My bowl was perfectly prepared, and the burger was delectable. There were plenty of amazing cocktails, which the bartender was pouring all night but we decided not to try them that we will have to go back to sample.!
Went for brunch on a cold November weekend, really like their heated patio dining area. Food was great, eggs cooked perfectly with a jammy yolk👍🏼, my husband had the steak sandwich. Cocktail was good too, white wine sangria had just the right buzz for brunch. Server was attentive and friendly. Reasonable prices.
The best
We didnt eat, it was the Halloween party. We had a great time. The place is a bit small, but its a good central place.
vibes are on POINT, honestly the best music i ve heard in a bar. perfect combination of old and new rap. delish drinks with so many different options
It was my first time coming here and I honestly can t wait to go back. They have amazing food. Great music. Everyone who works there is nice. I really appreciate their service. It s a really cute place. I had a bad experience with Angel the 3 other times, she needs some coaching. Alex however was amazing.
Server CALLED ME CRAZY. I visited just the other day, we had an amazing service with a server named Alex but he had to clock out and we got referred to Angel. Angel offered the worst service I had ever seen in a bar/restaurant. She made very derogatory comments such as we got better things to do when asked about our own orders that werent fulfilled. She promised to call the initial server and sort things out but she lied and never even tried. She was very diminishing in her statements like calling My friend Crazy. HOW DO YOU CALL SOMEONE CRAZY FOR ASKING ABOUT THEIR OWN PAID ORDERS. Angel is just a very poorly spoken person with a very Unpleasant demeanor that offers the exact opposite of good customer service. YOU CAME TO WORK, ACT LIKE IT. Spent Over a Thousand just to get treated wrong in a restaurant that didnt even have enough business to even explain the poor service from Angel. Alex, on tue other hand was nothing but perfect.
Is this place supposed to be a dance club or a restaurant? Can t tell because they blast ridiculously loud music but don t really have a dance floor. The food is very hit and miss, the pizza is very good, but many other items are not. And the front staff including the bouncers are so insufferable, I hate talking and dealing with them.
Food is pure garbage. The staff is friendly but the owner seemed unprofessional towards the customers. Im never going to eat here again. Just avoid this place and rather go to the worst mcdonalds for a better experience. 0/5
The server was very nice and friendly, and he did the best he could, but it went downhill after that. It took over 10 minutes for him to bring the menu, even though there was only one table ahead of us. From the time we sat down to receiving our meal, it took 45 minutes. When I asked for tea, I was informed they dont serve it. I had the salmon eggs Benedict. It was good, but the sauce and eggs were cold. Additionally, the table was wobbly, which made it awkward to eat. I do not recommend this place and would never go back.
Lovely place. I asked the music to be turned down on the patio and they responded wonderfully. I had the avocado toast. Eggs perfectly medium - fine. I would cut the one piece of bread in two with an egg on each. Eggs could have been hotter but was delicious. I would definitely go back! My guest had eggs Benedict - it would have been nice to offer fresh ground pepper or put it on the table. Again, eggs were perfectly cooked and presented. Less fries and a bit of green salad for both dishes would have improved the presentation and deliciousness of both dishes.
Good service
Brunch menu had limited options, unless you live off of toast. Sadly no coffee (neither percolated coffee nor was the espresso machine working) at brunch is a massive mistake, but the one waitstaff was struggling to remember to refill water glasses. Unless they hire more staff and expand the menu for more fresh produce, unlike to return and try again.
Okay I love going out, and I love a bottle. Tonight was FANTASTIC between the DJ who did NOT miss and the service that was stellar this place is THE place. PS: our Server Julia is a STAR and DJ ASHLON need to be back! Service
Came in from out of province and loved the atmosphere & their take on drinks & food
Thank you B2B for hosting my 37th Birthday party. My group had an amazing time. Thank You Thank You! Our Server Bianca was amazing and BIG shout out to Gabby for being the absolute best Service
Highly recommend this place if you want amazing food & also the nightlife experiences is top-tier in Ottawa
I simply love this place the room esthetic is beautiful always providing perfectly presented garnished yummy Food and of course the most delicious delightful drinks such a wonderful all around place to relax in the welcoming atmosphere 10/10 Recommend!
Absolutely love the atmosphere of Back to Brooklyn! The staff are all fantastic!
Stopped in on a visit to Ottawa. Front hostess was so nice and welcoming. The floor manager was very attentive and made us feel important. All around amazing venue!!!
Excellent food, Great service and cool vibes. An amazing change to the downtown experience. Highly recommend
The smoked salmon had gone bad (pale and tasted off). There are many better brunch spots nearby that are cheaper too. Dont waste your time.
Not recommendable. Horrible seating and atmosphere.
We dropped in for lunch yesterday, and opted for a cool seat inside. Right below a speaker, loud enough that we could barely hold a conversation. Almost empty, so we went to try another seat, but the waiter helpfully pointed out the dozens of speakers infesting the place. He said it was a party bar. That seemed odd for noon on a Tuesday. We left. He seemed nice, food is well reviewed so 3/5 there, but fail on atmosphere.
Food is absolutely subpar and overpriced based on the quality. 40$ for dry mashed potatoes and an overcooked filet mignon is a ripe-off. Not returning.
Every time we visit Ottawa we stop here for drinks! dj was fantastic Friday night. Always friendly staff and delicious cocktails. It s such a beautiful bar!
Our server was super friendly and great I honestly feel bad for her working at what appeared tonight as a poorly managed restaurant. Our apps started off just okay with the sliders being a a little cold and the mussels lacking well..mussels (low quality shells broken and some closed and extremely small) sauce was amazing tho! After our waitress came by for the 5th time to say our mains were on the way (waiting an hour at this point) a manager finally stepped in to apologize for the wait, I am not sure why it took that long for a manager as I dont think its fair for the waitress to be taking all the pressure for the deficiencies of the restaurant. I had to make eye contact with the manager and give a look as to what is going on here? She came over and gave what did not feel to me like a very genuine apologies considering how long we were waiting. She did comp us a round of beers which was nice. We were not the only table having these issues, litterally all tables with food had problems. The one table beside us, only one of the couples mains came out, a steak and a salad and finally 20min later the second main (a salad) came out, yes 20 min for a salad. She was sharing her main plate with her partner because it took so long. Just embarrassing on the restaurants part. Our waitress was running around like crazy and seemed genuinely concerned with our situation and it did not appear like she was getting appropriate support from her management.
Went for ladies night on Thursday, they gave all the women roses. Was a great experience with good music and good vibes. Will be going back
Great flatbreads and cocktails on the happy hour menu. Our server was awesome too! Loved the patio space, though the music seemed a bit too clubby for our taste.
Beautiful atmosphere. Would love to go back and sit on the patio. The pizza (gluten free) was amazing.
Pretty atmosphere, high-quality cocktails, and decent prices. Will be back to take advantage of the 4 cocktails for $60 again.
It s soooo cute and so much food! A really fun vibe, very pretty, good food and drinks!
Food was good, but drinks were very expensive and VERY little. Nice place.
Spoke with the owner Nigel to book last minute for my birthday with a very large group. He was able to book a spot for us all for bottle service and the minimum requirement to spend was very affordable. He was efficient, provided us with all the information we needed and was SO SO kind! Can t wait to celebrate my birthday there! Thank you Nigel!
Ummm those mini rib burgers
Back to Brooklyn hosted my GF, birthday party. They helped us with the planning, let us bring a cake in, and printed a private menu that she loved. The food was great, service incredible, and all the guests had a blast. Nigel, the manager and one of the owners, tended to us too and made sure we were having a good time!
food was so good i exploded
The food was incredible, best in Ottawa, nay Ontario dare I say Canada. I have never had a better experience anywhere else. It felt like I was transported to downtown Brooklyn. Everything from the experience to the staff to the cleanliness to the food was outstanding. The food was in a word exquisite. It melted on my tongue. I almost fainted at how the food somehow tasted homemade and authentic at the same time. Like a grandma straight from New York.

Eager to indulge in a gastronomic adventure, I entrust the task of selecting my meals to an AI-powered ordering system, confident in its ability to curate a flawless menu tailored to my preferences. For lunch, the AI selects a refreshing starter of citrus-infused crab salad, perfectly complemented by a glass of crisp Sauvignon Blanc, setting the stage for an exquisite meal ahead. As the afternoon unfolds, I indulge in a leisurely brunch experience, courtesy of the AIs discerning palate, which surprises me with a decadent spread of eggs Benedict crowned with velvety hollandaise sauce and a side of crispy bacon. Paired with a freshly brewed cappuccino, the brunch becomes a delightful interlude, offering a perfect balance of savory and indulgence, leaving me eagerly anticipating the evening ahead. As dusk descends, dinner unfolds with the grace and sophistication befitting a five-star establishment, as the AI orchestrates a culinary symphony that delights the senses and ignites the palate. The starter arrives a delicate amuse-bouche of foie gras atop a brioche crouton, accompanied by a glass of vintage Champagne, signaling the beginning of an extraordinary dining experience. The main course is a masterpiece of culinary artistry, as the AI presents a perfectly seared Wagyu steak, accompanied by truffled pommes Anna and a rich red wine reduction, each bite melting tenderly on the tongue. As the evening progresses, the dessert arrives a decadent chocolate soufflé infused with hints of Grand Marnier, served alongside a scoop of Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, a fitting conclusion to a remarkable meal. Throughout each course, the attentive staff ensures that every need is met, their impeccable service elevating the dining experience to new heights of luxury and refinement. The restaurants ambiance, with its soft lighting and understated elegance, provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of culinary indulgence and sophisticated charm. Back to Brooklyn is one of my fav spots on Clarence to get drinks and a quick food. Atmosphere is really cool and makes me feel like I m not in Ottawa. The drinks were hitting and the their flat bread is amazing
The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing, the decor was beautiful.
Beautiful decor, friendly service, amazing vibes! The cocktails are excellent and the food is absolutely delicious! I had the seafood pasta and my partner had the mushroom risotto. Both were cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Highly recommend for date night, or a fun night out with friends!
Wonderful experience at Back to Brooklyn! Service was phenomenal, very friendly and attentive. The food was 10/10 really enjoyed the beef tartare as an appetizer and the seafood pasta as a main! We stayed around for late night and the cocktails, live dj & atmosphere was amazing. Definitely will be returning!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it truly deserves five stars. The ambiance was chic and inviting, the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about their extensive cocktail menu, and the drinks themselves were expertly crafted, offering a delightful burst of flavors with each sip. The creative combinations showcased a dedication to mixology, making it a must-visit for any cocktail enthusiast. I cant wait to return and explore more of their enticing concoctions.
Food was actually really amazing! But furniture felt really old/worn down. Needs a bit of an update.
Smelled weird , the vibe was good , but nothing more to it ... wont go back , nothing that impressed me ...
The omelette was excellent. The service was over the top.
To the girl this happened to! I m so sorry and I hope you read this! Or at least I hope the owners read it! You don t not need to flirt with customers! This guy posted this on a public forum for thousands on people to see! So if you have a protected disability and get fired for not being flirtatious enough for the customers here s your receipt! I have screen shots of bar daddy s post to prove it! Just message here with a email in case it gets taken down I ll send them! This is disgusting and I m tired of seeing male chauvinist ruining it for good hard working honest women just because we have to smile and be playful . Jovan morales said You should smile more I run a trendy downtown restaurant/lounge/club. One of my female bartenders has resting uninterested face, shes good at making cocktails, but due to lack of customer engagement, she doesnt bring in a good tip percentage. I had a chat with her about being more engaging with customers and trying to be more playful/friendly with guests, part of that included smiling while bartending. Her first reply to my critique was saying back at me you should smile more. I dont want to force someone to seem happy, and I dont want to come off as just another man telling a woman that she smile more, but this is a customer service industry and I want my staff to make guests feel welcomed and treated warmly. I brought up being more engaging, playful, interactive, and other things, but at the end of the day, yeah, I want her to smile more. Thats the job, smile and give great service for better tips and customer experience. Is there a different phrasing that isnt so problematic?
Great atmosphere!
Disappointing service. The staff have an arrogance to them, but Im not really sure what theyre so proud of.
Really chill and cozy loved the ambience. my co workers and I really enjoyed
I am not the type of person that writes reviews, ever! Much less bad ones. But I went there for brunch with my girlfriends this weekend and we were so disappointed. The ambiance is great and the decor is beautiful. Our server seemed lovely but she spoke very quietly for some reason and we were having a hard time hearing her. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, my dish was very salty. When we asked for coffee, she said they only serve espresso. With that in mind we then asked for three americanos and she said that was not a problem. We thought she would simply pour the shot, then add boiling water to the cup. But she brought us three cups of double shot espressos. When we asked if they were americanos, we had to explain what that was to her and then she brought an extra little container with warm water (we assumed from the tap). At that point we were so confused. My friend s chicken and waffle was burnt and completely dry (which tells me it was baked in the oven) but we were all so hungry that we decided not to return the dish. I didn t think to take a picture but I wish I did, it was almost unbelievable that they would serve that. I would also think that for $24 there would be a little garnish or something. But it was just dry waffles and chicken with maple syrup, that s it. Anyways, of course we had a good time as friends, I will say the staff was friendly and restaurant is beautifully decorated.
2022-11-14: tried this place the first time. The burger was not bad but I barely touched the fries. I prefer crispy and piping-hot fries.
Very good food and service ,I went for the weekend brunch special! My dish is not in the listing? It was potatoes mixed with steak strips and mushrooms with eggs and hollandaise sauce served in a cast iron skillet Food : 5/5
Amazing place! Everyone there is so friendly and awesome!! Thank you!
The place is very cute- definitely a vibe. But the food was terrible. I went with two other friends- we all got salads. It s very hard to get a salad wrong- but all three salads were terrible. My friends salad came with no dressing. We all paid extra for chicken (was supposed to be Cajun chicken) and it was very dry and tasteless. When I mentioned the chicken had no flavour the response was oh ok and do you want hot sauce . There was no initiative from the waitress to help make thing right or for us to actually enjoy our meal. Overall not a good experience. Paid a lot and we all left hungry.
Gorgeous spot. Frozen everything. Fries are frozen and then served uncooked (don t think that have a deep fryer) burgers were frozen, all meat is frozen, nachos were soggy and slimy, Caesar salad was extremely weird tasting and the drinks are very expensive for very small drinks. Too bad because the vibe is incredible, but the corners they ve cut made this place somewhere that we would not recommend. Oh, and the bathroom is pretty nasty and there is only one. Too bad. I was VERY excited to try this spot.
Amazing shrimp skewers and Caesar salad.
Music was too loud. Waited an hour and ten minutes and still NEVER GOT OUR FOOD. not coming back.
Waited 2 hours and food didn t show.
Horrible service. It took us almost 2 hours to get food and drinks. Not only that is they weren t busy and the music is so loud. Don t recommend
absolutley awful. waited an hour and 10 minutes and never got our food, never got our waters, food was terrible. would give 0 stars if i could. Parking: no parking Kid-friendliness: not kid friendly, music was too loud
Had a large event in the private room. Ambiance was great, Chow the host was great but come the end of the night the waitresses double charged several people and refused to give back our money therefore we were basically hustled out of a few hundred $.
First time there and probably my last. 2 stars for the drinks and ambience but the food was horrible. Waited over an hour for a couple of burgers and everyone on the table said their plate was cold. Not even sure the chef followed the menu as the toppings on my burger made no sense. At these prices its abit of a joke.
Never go here! I had the worst experience. The male bouncer was touching up me and my girlfriends. It made us severely uncomfortable before we even walked in the door. I complained to the manager and he argued with me. Then he kicked my friend out for rejecting a creepy guy and he wouldn t let me back in to get my friends. Overall a horrific experience. I ve never met such a rude and hostile manager in my life. If you are a women this is not a good place to go.
It took forever to get brunch good even though they were not busy. Everything was really salty and oily
the place is aesthetically pleasing which drew me and my friend in but honestly the good music made up for the VERY subpar food and service. I ordered a steak medium well it was pink and cold when i received it, truffle fries are a waste of your money they literally sprinkled it with parmesan and called it a day
We were starved and managed to get a short-notice rez. The menu looked decent and location was handy for us. Atmosphere was fine- cool ceiling. Staff very pleasant and cheerful. Food, meh. I ordered the wonton nachos with added AAA steak ($10 extra). Well bla! No taste. The steak (maybe? Two oz of it, if that?) seemed boiled and tough and had zero spice despite me asking if it could be spiced up as they did have a Cajun chicken option. It came with tortilla chips and not wontons. The waitress claims they changed that ingredient the week prior. Ummm maybe that could have been explained prior to ordering? The salsa was like tomato sauce. I actually had to add some salt and pepper just to get flavour. I do NOT recommend the nachos. Others at my table ordered a steak sandwich- same boiled steak with no flavour. Mac and cheese - no flavour. The only thumbs up was from the burger eater. We were all ravenous so we didn t complain and just inhaled the food. We had had two bad restaurant experiences earlier in the day (one hour wait for the Mill St Brewery and then a wait with no service for 45 minutes at a brewhouse on the Quebec side) so haha we were hungry! Anyhow, just be careful about what you order if you enjoy flavour. If you are a picky eater and don t care for flavour/spice, you won t have any complaints. Oh! And if you are a wine drinker? Check the prices before you go. Crazy prices!!!
Cute restaurant, good food.
Venue is pretty, staff is nice, music great. Management is very uptight and it makes the overall place feel like youre constantly being watched to make sure you dont have too much fun. Weird Vibes, lame crowd - wouldnt come back which is a shame because the place is very pretty - has lots of potential.
Very cute spot, love the decor.
The best place to be at, when you are in Byward!
We went out of our way to try something new for Fathers day. It was a great experience overall even though my first impression wasnt ideal. The food and service was great is what matters most. Definitely give it a go.
Music and dj are awesome, prices high and service needs some urgent help .
Cozy spot. Right in the middle of the market Food
Bouncers are so rude. When it gets busy, they keep you wait in the line and ask you to pay for a bottle to get in. Very unprofessional and greedy.
the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant were amazing however our server was not great. Firstly, it took 15 minutes to even get a water glass even though we were the first people in the spot. secondly, our server was incredibly rude when asking us for our food order and us not being ready to order. Lastly, after watching my friend pay for her meal and give a smaller tip than normal due to bad service interrupted our conversation aggressively to ask why she didn t tip more. It was incredibly inappropriate and the server has no understanding of finacial histories. Beware of being judged for your money when you go here .
I went to Back To Brooklyn just to buy a beer and say hi to my brother who works there. When I sat down I was greeted by a bartender named Helder. He fixed my drink right away and kept them coming. We talked all night while he served others and me. He had a smile on his face the whole time and treated everyone kindly and with respect. And Helder makes a pretty mean Old Fashion, That s for sure!
The service was SO SLOW even though there were only 3 tables and ample staff present. Food was so mediocre, I could ve made better at home. Avocado toast had like no avocado on it, and it literally tasted like the pre-made guac you get at the grocery store. It was very bland. Atmosphere was nice tho, but wouldn t go back. Don t recommend.
Ive travelled to Ottawa for a girlfriends birthday and Thursday night we decided to hit this club for a couple cocktails. Wasnt disappointed by its cocktails and music was on point. Ohh now I know why they named it Thursdays ladys night, the crazy blue eye bartender is latterly eye candy, ladies dont miss out
Great staff, classy atmosphere and tlc in the drinks and food. A great place to go if you are a young professional. You can tell the bartenders actually care about about the drinks they make. Handler especially knows his stuff.
Best bartender ever held thx you vers much Parking: Right next to
Welcoming staff Helder the bar tender very professional and friendly
Enjoyed a perfect avocado and egg sandwich. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Cheers :)
Food was bad ! The music is not good since the dj was more interested on saying where he is from and dancing with wall and looking at himself on the mirror like a creep. And in the end they asked me to leave my table when my bill was more than 500 $ and my bottle was still full just because the reservation of the table is only for 2 HOURS. So disappointed i will never go back and i don t recommended
Came in here on a Sunday evening for a quick business trip and decided to have a drink. Intended to stay for one drink but the staff kept me around for good reason until closing! Staff were very friendly, accommodating and made great impression even if they had a less than ideal party in the back patio. Definitely looking to come back to here next time I am in Ottawa! Keep it up you all!
Absolutely LOVE the food here! Their new menu is so yummy! A must try!
I came to Back to Brooklyn for bottomless mimosas and unfortunately the food and service was not the greatest. I asked for a salmon food item to which I was told there was no salmon unavailable (something that could ve been noted prior to having us look at the menu and asking us our orders). I chose another option the Shepard omelette and was told my food would come shortly. Upon receiving my food item, I noticed my order was incorrect and advised our waitress Talya about this. She took the plate back and returned to say the chef advised it was the correct order. I re-read the order with the waitress as we looked at the food item provided and noticed it was incorrect. When it was brought back again, Talya advised the chef did not know what a chorizo was and decided to opt it out of my meal completely without offering an alternative. They also advised that they were out of chorizo after the second time being sent back. I find it very odd that a chef in the kitchen would be unaware of a food item such a chorizo. As much as Talya was very nice, I found the service very disappointing. I wouldn t recommend based on service and lack of menu items as well as lack of notice of missing menu items.
staff were nice.
Lots of selection and great prices. Plenty of parking.
Amazing mocktails and happy hour prices
Great place, they have plastic straws so that s reason enough for a great review !
Great food and drinks for a fair price. I would recommend.
went for bottomless mimosas as advertised on website and they did not exist, tried to order food but they seemed to not have menus even after we asked for menus, staff was annoying and did not know what was on menu, left immediately
Fun spot! Very sharable portions. Wonderful cocktails.
Food is terrible, rotten salads, dry up cheeses, nothing is fresh at all
Limited menu items. Many items were not available at the time. The food was okay... average fare and definitely not a place if youre looking for a beer (only Corona and Heineken). Mostly cocktails and wine. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The high seating is a bit awkward, and you have to watch your step.... youll understand when youre there. Parking: Typical Byward Market availability. Street parking if you can find it and the parking garage. Kid-friendliness: No... its an adult establishment. Wheelchair accessibility: Poor seating options.
Some of the seating is on high stools that are, unless you are a 12 year old, excessively uncomfortable. I ordered the French Onion Soup which was a a small portion of soup with a Single Slice, yes a single slice like in Kraft Single Slices, of gruyere with a 5mm thick slice, 2cm x 5cm of a baguette - all for $10.00. Had the Beef Tartare and they provided the same size of baguette as above but not enough for the Tartare (only 6 slices). When asked if we could get additional slices, they provided 3 additional slices at $1.00/slice - nothing more than insulting. I had the Roasted Chicken for $34.00, Yeah, $34.00!! The thigh bone was removed and had possibly 1/2 a leaf of spinach in it and the prosciutto was nowhere to be found. It was akin to a ShakeNBake piece of chicken and once again, for $34.00. The potatoes were the best part however there were only 2 small round red potatoes that were cut into 5mm thick slices - just so it looked as if you were actually getting quantity. Small portions that disappointed with a taste that could be duplicated at any local A&W Restaurant. A suggestion for the Owner, if youre going to charge Paris prices, make sure that the quality is the same. Small portions for big prices doesnt cut it. Perhaps it does in Brooklyn, but I have my doubts but if Im mistaken, perhaps you should go Back to Brooklyn. Pretentious to say the least.
Told me on phone they were open but it was closed when we got there. $5 parking and waited in -20 degrees for nothing. Thanks a lot
Food was good but it was served cold (sliders) the staff and decor is what really makes the place
If you are looking to eat at a restaurant (outdoors) in Ottawa, Back to Brooklyn is definitely the place. B2B has very well heated outdoor seating areas. It feels like they put most of their effort into the seating and kind of skimped out on the food, though. The food was okay. It didnt taste bad, but it was all very dry (I got the b2b burger and kettle chips).
Outside dining never felt so cozy
Price: a bit pricey but worth it My experience: the negative reviews are flawed! The food is really good, the drink menu is extensive and theres so much to choose from. The service is friendly and fair wait times, despite it being packed. We did make reservations a day in advance for the outdoor patio. The cheese board is enjoyable, got the large which was a lot for three of us sharing. I tried the strong island which was tasty and strong , the Rudolph and Stormy drink (their version of a Moscow mule I think), and an old fashioned which was my favourite of the 3 drinks. One friend got the Queens Garden which is the beautiful purple drink with the petals in it. My other friend tried the steak sandwich, which looked and sounded great. My other friends shared the sliders which they also really liked and one other friend got the vegetarian poke bowl which she was surprised at how good it tasted. Found out near the end that they have mulled wine for a warm alcoholic beverage which I highly recommend for the winter patio experience. Love the vibes and art. Music was great Highly recommend this spot and will be back whenever Im back in Ottawa
Excellent spot! The food was great and we were also treated to some complimentary mulled wine. Theres also a lovely heated terrace, capable of withstanding the Ottawa cold.
Thw staff is amazing ! Thank you
Went to the outdoor patio and it took 40 minutes to even take our order. It was freezing, by the time the food came it was undercooked but we were too cold to complain so we just ate and left. Service was also really bad. Would not go again
Great service and food!!
Has the absolute best time and meal at Back to Brooklyn! The food was absolutely amazing! The serving staff were friendly, and quick! I ve been here a few times now and ever time has been nothing short of a stellar experience! Try their cheese cake and be ready to be blown away! In fact I m booking a party there for my staff as a reward for a fantastic year of business we just completed.
B2B ABSOLUTELY BY FAR THE BEST RESTAURANT TO GO IN OTTAWA FOR FOOD A DRINKS
From booking my reservation, to the staff, service and the food/drinks...Back to Brooklyn is the best spot in the Ottawa market. The owner was in and came over to ensure everything was going well and that our meals were to our liking. It has great indoor and outdoor space. Decor is very modern and sleek. I will definitely come back and do after work snacks and drinks with my colleagues. Thank you B2B staff. Sean
I visited several times since Back to Brooklyn open and was impressed everytime. The Decor, the ambiance and the delicious food are worth a repeat now that they are open again.
Amazing food and cocktails!
This places is great, youre in for a blast! Good food, good vibes, great staff! Sabrina (my server) was on point with the service. Ive been to Brooklyn and this place gave me the feels. Definitely felt like was Back to Brooklyn!

What incredible experience we had! I love the intimate front patio. It was so warm and we ended up making friends with everyone around due to that cozy comfy vibe. Service was amazing and the flat bread is to die for!
Cool vibes, great staff, non discriminatory, and awesome food....highly recommend the steak sandwich and the flatbreads
Such hospitality and wonderful service !!
The food and drinks were amazing! Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend going. Must try the cheesecake!
Great service, friendly staff, yummy food and decent pricing. Will definitely be coming back!!
Nice staff! Great ambiance!!! Good service!
Very good quality
Great food and ambiance ! Seeing how most outdoor patios are closed, we decided to try b2b. It got cold on the patio, however, the manager did everything he could to help us (changed our seating and brought us some nice big blankets. I had the beef tartare which i would highly recommend ! Overall my experience was great and i will be returning.
I decided to come back to Back to Brooklyn and was welcomed with a warm mulled wine complements of the owners and served by the beautiful hostess Jane!
I came here for a night out after the first lockdown and had one of the best nights of my life.. without a doubt Ottawas best hot spot. Fantastic music, beautiful people, great atmosphere, fun and very friendly staff and most importantly.... very professional standards regarding covid regulations. Considering everything.... all around great vibes. Thank you Back to Brooklyn for bringing me back to life. I cant wait to come back !
Verry good quality
Super awesome food and amazing place to go with friends. Super safe and great Covid measures ! Must try the cheesecake !!
Great environment, the atmosphere is on point. Excellent, friendly staff and amazing food. Took a group of friends for a night out and would go back again and again.
Awesome service and a really great heated patio
It s transparent the types of multiple experiences. Since 2019, we have been supporting and have experienced some of Canada s best customer experience throughout intimate 1 on 1 bookings and larger group get IG there at B2B, as everyone I have brought talks about how great the service from servers, to amazing food, prompt turn around with orders. The creative drinks and myself personally being very high maintenance, I have been blown away by their patience and overall like no other customer satisfaction. Designed by a creative eye and unique vibrant atmosphere, I would fully recommend Back To Brooklyn, as an Ottawa HOT spot worth making the time for taking in. Everyone I have taken or had the privilege to unwind after work have mentioned as one of Ottawa s places to be at or speak of as we travel across Canada for work. Make your on decision as you take it all in and enjoy amazing laughs, memories and overall being treated with upmost respected and appreciated by unreal service and management. Thank you Back To Brooklyn !
NY strip loin was amazing and staff was super friendly. It s a beautiful little hidden gem in the byword market. Will definitely be back next time we visit Ottawa.
Awesome customer service
The staff there is so rude. The wait times are ridiculous. We literally waited 45 minutes for water.
Amazing food and friendly service. Definitely going back.
Supporting peoples freedoms of choice..gotta love it!!
The patio was perfectly heated. There was a diverse keto menu, which was a pleasant surprise. The server was very friendly; I wish I had known about this place sooner; I would definitely return
Very nice staff and great food. Will be back many more times.
Love this place!
Awesome, 5 star if the portions were bigger, or maybe I just had a small lunch, or maybe I just burnt too many calories on my run, or maybe someone slipped me an edible.... Idk
Quite expensive
Nice setting - we ate early on a Saturday but the half chicken and potatoes were stone cold when they arrived. Disappointing as it wasn t busy. Very good Tristan drinks. Would likely try again if in the area.
Good but the chips are really dry!
Nice ambiance ! ZIf you are looking for a date its the right place !
Excellent menu and flavor
Really good food and drinks . The queens cocktail was amazing
Its my second time there, last time was in Spring time. This time the food was way too salty, and not very tasty. Drinks were good and the server did a good job.
Enjoyed a few drinks on a lovely Saturday afternoon in the Byward Market.
The DJ had the music at the perfect level, not too loud so we could still enjoy a conversation at the table. Grrat food selection and quality. Hope to go again soon.
The best cocktails and service in Ottawa!
I dont recommend it in any way, firstly we had a reservation at 5:00 p.m. for a surprise party and we only got the table for 5:30 p.m. because it wasnt ready. Extremely slow service, minimum 20 min wait for consumption for each order. Difficulties getting service. For our meal, we returned 9 out of 12 dishes: the lobster mac and cheese was cold, didnt taste like cheese and had water at the bottom of the plate as if it had been thawed, gelatinous steak, chicken extremely greasy in the chicken & waffle dish. So we left without eating. Very disappointing service.
Back to Brooklyn Ottawa. sorry for those who had a great experience, but last Saturday after a reservation at 5 p.m. allowing us entry at 5:30 p.m. during a surprise birthday, 9 meals out of 12 were returned, slow and non-bilingual service, making communication complicated for some guests. Yet widely recommended in the past by friends... I do not recommend this establishment in any way, covid or not. And with a bill well above the market for drinks and wine. Tie on your hats... Disappointment guaranteed
Good food, good atmosphere and the service was friendly.
Food was not that good and a waitress tried to rip us off. Wont come back.
After having read the controversial reviews, I was ready for not-the-best-time. But the experience was actually not so bad. We made a reservation at 6PM for indoor standard, but they initially seated us outdoor. They did re-seat us inside when we mentioned it, but it was odd of them to check our reservation which stated indoor, but still seated us outdoor. Great interiors - well decorated and aesthetic! No, the staffs here don t respect the covid regulations - 90% of staffs have their masks under their noses, and one of them had his under his lips. The waitress were friendly and quick in service. The food and drinks were surprisingly very tasty and huge in portion. I got Chicken and Waffle, and it was very tasty. Just found it a little odd and funny that they put the food on a huge plate, leaving an empty chunk of space My friend enjoyed her fig flatbread as well. Overall: beautiful interior, tasty food, good service after some confusion , but not well covid-maintained.
Actually the restaurant food is really bad and Costly. I am not sure how other reviewers say its okay. The Chicken sandwich was really bad, and Chips with the food was the worst that you could get. Its bad than what you could get at the gas station. Pretty sure we are never going back.
Their costumer service worst ever, i did go for smoke and they did not allow me to get in again
First off, love the name of the place, when you walk inside, it has a cozy vibe if you go during the day. The decor is very well tought off, it has a classy vibe. For the food, i Loved the Chicken Waffles. The sauce is amazing, the waffles fluffy, i cant start to describe how the chicken tasted, it was amazing, soooo good, unbelievable flavor. There drinks are hipster (meaning that they are unique and different and obviously very good) Overall, the vibe, the food, the drinks makes this place a perfect brunch or restaurant to go on a Date.
I got a sandwich and the bottom bun eas soaked and soggy. Service was very rushed
workers are violent. please be careful if you re a female and are drinking here
When I arrived to the establishment yesterday evening I was immediately appalled at the way that the host and manager handle the situation. Not only did they mess up our reservation that was for an important celebration that night but they refuse to be transparent with us about the length of the wait. If they had been upfront and honest about not have the space for us, we could have tried to move our party of 10 to another place. Instead, they promised the chance of a booth which we didnt get and then let us sit around for three hours and charged us 20% gratuity on top. Our party of 10 was placed in the outside extension seating section intended for 4 people. The manager keeps telling us he would get us the booth we booked the moment it was open yet after we waited at B2B because of that statement, they told us they were all booked and they couldnt move anybody around. I heard they had nice drinks but for the experience, it definitely isnt worth it. Not coming back for sure... and wish I could say ZERO stars.
Really good service and cocktails!
Back to Brooklyn has continuous good service, I have felt comfortable and protected as a female during every reservation which is extremely important to me, and would like to thank security and the bartenders specifically for making me feel protected! I always have an enjoyable experience here!
I ended up losing a piece of jewelry (my fault), when I messaged them on social media they read what I wrote and didnt respond. Another time I wanted to confirm something and they read and didnt respond. I find that extremely rude. Especially when I have been here on multiple occasions.
Id give zero stars if that was an option. My friend and I were there for brunch yesterday and it was not a good experience. The staff had no respect for Covid rules, the space looked not ready to receive brunch customers at 11 am (laundry and dishes all around), food was meeh, keto option was a joke of half the plate full of potatoes and stale bread, it was so cold that we kept our coats on, service was unattantive, and they didnt have any type of coffee or tea except for espresso for brunch! Worst of all, either the staff or the owners had a big table of friends coming in bunches. They kept screaming and walking around without masks. It seemed like they did not want customers at all. Not going back, not recommending.
Food nice, but reception staff could do with some lessons on politeness.
I m a pretty straightforward guy and i don t really like to say anything negative about anyone but I can t let this one go, this place was just horrible went for a brunch on Sunday was greeted by woman with a winter jacket on (she had it the whole time) once seated, noticed a drunk guy at the entrance stumbling when walking and talking really loud .turns out he s owner or manager. He kept on being served drinks although he was clearly drunk food was ok but service was horrible waitress got order wrong. They serve warm oasis juice and charged me 5$ FOR OASIS ORANGE JUICE I highly recommend NOT to go.
