Excellent, consistent great tasting food, friendly service, free parking, and kids menu is ten bucks! (Including drinks and dessert and I got 2 kids, its a no-brainer). Update 2024: still as friendly and amazing menu as ever. Parking: Ask the restaurant staff to validate parking ticket. Kid-friendliness: Dont skip the all inclusive kids menu!

Sorry to say..but I had a horrible experience. My Family came to visit me for My Birthday weekend from the US..I heard such good things about Baton Rouge on Alberta st that I made reservations for four weeks in advance..we arrived and where seated promptly..but after that it went downhill..we sat at our table for 20 minutes and did not recieve even a glass of water..in the meantime, we watched staff setting up tables for guests that hadnt arrived yet but must of reserved tables later. Finally, my sister approached a staff member and asked if we could at least get a glass of water. I assume she was a manager..because after that..our waiter showed up. He apologized..saying he was dealing with a customers bill. He took our order..and was very nice. We ordered drinks and our food..next thing we knew..we got a different waitress..saying to us our waiter was sent home..We got prompted service after that..I enjoyed my meal..but my family from out of town said their food was so so..Im writing this review, because I do hope this helps management to improve their service going forward with next guest to their restraurant..as this was a disappointing experience.

Disappointing we were told when we came in the restaurant that we only had the table that we were seated at that we had about 2 hours to eat at the table. The hostess stated they get busy & would need the table. Unfortunately we still stayed & ate dinner which was not very good & over priced for what we received.

Our travel agency reserved our menu without specifying! So salmon fillet/salad/rice... while we are in a steakgrill house.. Really a shame not to have tasted their beautiful meat!!! At the table we were very crowded, the waiters had difficulty passing us plates for 40 place settings.

If in Ottawa and looking for a great place to eat on Sparks Street, look no further. Baton Rouge Grillhouse has a great menu with many options. A visit here on business with a larger party and everyone was pleased with their food selection. Fries are plenty. ribs cooked to perfection, a true clubhouse sandwich and much more. A must try. The Food was good, but nothing Special. The Service on the other hand was terrible, our waiter wasn t patient at all and already left the table while we still wanted to say something. That is also the reason for the bad review

It was my first time visiting and I anticipated the ribs as I was told they were very good. Unfortunately they were not hot and the flavour was very basic. Not as good as I expected. The service though, that was great. I also tried using my giftcard and I wasnt able to use that.

What an absolutely fantastic Birthday lunch we had with our daughter and son-in-law. What made this experience so great was our server Jay. So friendly, so accommodating that we almost asked him to join us. Jay, thank you so very much for making our daughters birthday memorable for a couple of guys from Vancouver. You certainly exceeded our expectations.

Overly expensive big chain food and beer. Not worth the price.

Mediocre burger. No condiments and somewhat bland. Ceasar salad was mediocre. Service was mediocre. People were nice and restaurant is large and cozy enough despite its rather open concept. Burger lacked flavour. Ceasar salad a bit on the sweet side with bland croutons. Been here over an hour and haven t been asked if I want another drink. And water not topped up since it was finished an hour ago. Servers are nice enough. Just a needs a little more attention to reflect the price.

Average at best in every way. The steak, the overbreaded greasy chicken fingers, and non-attentive service. So many better choices in the area.

We celebrated a birthday and the food was amazing! Had the calamari, cod, and tenderloin steak which was all delicious The calamari has a uniquely amazing tasting batter! The burger was slightly dry otherwise everything was amazing. They accepted to keep our cake in the fridge so we can surprise the bday person. We asked not to have it cut as there is a cutting fee but only if they actually cut it for you! Katie was our server for the night and I cant even describe how amazing she was. She was thoughtful, super nice, attentive and friendly. Truly one of the best services Ive had in Ottawa in a VERY LONG time! I rated the atmosphere a bit lower but only because the lighting is too dimmed for my liking and the banquet seats are slightly uncomfortable. Shout-out to Katie and the kitchen. Great food and service! Thanks for making it a memorable evening!

Very delicious food and beer.

The food was very good, all good except for the waitress named Alicia, who on several occasions almost reluctantly gave us our food and drinks, very bad, I had not wanted to complain, but since she has served my friend and I on several occasions at lunch I decided to give them a bad review today at Baton Rouge in Albert street Ottawa

Have been here more than a few times over recent years. Lately have noticed the restaurant looks tired. The wood on the seats is well worn with lots of scratches and the seats in the booths, some of them are torn on the sides. Just doesnt go along with the level of place they want to be. It looks like a place that needs some TLC and renovation. The service was decent, alveit slow, but we were there for dinner, so it was ok. Food was good. Overall, its a nice spot. I would recommend.

I m a vegetarian so I wasn t sure about Baton Rouge. I was so happy to see that they have a bunch of vegetarian options for appetizers and entrees. The cocktails are delicious and there is a good selection of beer. The service is 10/10. Thomas is a great bartender and he is bilingual so it was nice to be able to order in French. It s a great spot for a quiet meal or an event. Vegetarian options: I had the macaroni and cheese appetizer and a salad. Both were delicious and filling.

I went to Baton Rouge for my 1yr anniversary and I came back coz I had come here for my mum s birthday. I was very disappointed with the service, the waitress had an attitude about her and it seemed like we were inconveniencing her when we put our food order in. The presentation of the food is very good, the portions are quite large, the taste is good but not tolerable, the service is average, the price is very favorable in downtown Ottawa, it is worth trying...

Wrongly prepared prime rib. Ordered rare and not on the grill, ended up grilled was closer to well done. Server said they validated our parking pass but to our surprise when leaving it wasn t. Ended up paying for parking. Huge fail all around. Be warned.

I wanted to share our dining experience at your restaurant on July 1st. My family and I traveled from kitchener, Ontario, and decided to dine at your establishment. We were seated promptly around 6 PM and our server, Emmanuel, was attentive. While our appetizers arrived on time, the main course was significantly delayed. When it finally arrived, my wife found a hair in her food. Although the staff quickly took the dish back and apologized, she eventually serves but the steak was undercooked despite her request for a well-done steak. Unfortunately, my wife left the restaurant without receiving the meal she ordered. She share part of my meal. We were told that she will not be charge for a meal, nothing was offered as replacement. We appreciate the initial efforts of your staff but felt that our experience fell short of the standards we expected. We hope this feedback will help improve your service for future guests.

I dont think Ive ever been more disrespected at a restaurant ever. After being sat at my table, I overheard the table next to me asking for a fork, the server looks back at my table, sees my utensils as Im looking at the menu and grabs it from my table to give it to them without saying a word to me. No acknowledgement of my existence. Even the guy at the neighbouring table noticed. It almost felt deliberate. I waited for the server to come back, hoping they at least had the wherewithal to bring me a new set, but nothing. I waited 5 minutes with a closed menu and I didnt even get asked for a drink order. I left. I come to Ottawa frequently for work and stay in a nearby hotel and have been to this Baton Rouge before. I had a good experience then but this most recent experience was awful.

We wanted to be in the dinning room,was told no that the lounge bar was only place to sit. My salad was vary old and wilted so it went back. My strawberry Dakar was rimmed with SALT. Ribs were ok. Mixed vegetables were not cooked and were COLD. Baked potatoes were lacking everything aloaded potato should be loaded not a pinch of items. Waiter should not be long and Bushy.

Marie was a great waitress and the food was amazing

Right off the bat, when we walked in to decide if we wanted to stay - Sam (Samir) stood at the front and guided us through the menu to answer any questions we had. We chose to say based on his recommendations and menu knowledge. Sam ended up being our server tonight and he was so incredibly lovely. He went above and beyond multiple times to ensure we had a great experience. He noticed I was cold so he brought me a mug with hot water in it to warm up without even asking! He also brought me a birthday dessert as he remembered when we first walked in that we were celebrating my birthday. Overall, mainly based on his service, we would come back if we ever came back to Ottawa for another visit!

Was here with family in December. Service was excellent, in both languages :). Fried chicken has a very thick coat of fat, much too much of it! Ribs are excellent, as is the classic burger of the house.

Poor waitress who has worked there 10 years seems tired and over the customers. The seafood linguine is served with a red sauce. I dont like red sauces with seafood dishes and will have to inquire ahead of time to ensure I avoid that. The rib eye was flavorless and the BBQ sauce was terrible. Black forest cake, terrible. Coleslaw, not good. Truffle mac and cheese, oily and without flavor.

I don t usually leave reviews because I believe everyone is allowed a bad day however I have twice now been in the mood for Baton Rouge and ordered it on Uber Eats where it has been listed as available and twice have had my order unexpectedly cancelled by the restaurant with no explanation given. I m pissed.

My wife and I just had our dinner at Baton Rouge. Bartender/Waiter Sam suggested Short Rib Seafood Pappardelle (new on the menu), which turned out to be excellent. He also made other good suggestions. We really enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant.

Rib-eye steak was very good. 16oz steak w big baked potato. We split the entree, and had plenty of food for both of us. Ordered carrot cake & chocolate cake. Both were delicious! However, what would have been a wonderful date night experience was marred by the multiple tables of loud & boisterous drunks! The bar over-served and the cacaphony was unacceptable! We rushed to leave!

A nice steak/rib house. I had the short rib and seafood pasta, which was superb. Tender meat, well cooked scallops and shrimp. Add a glass of the house red and it came to $65. Service was a little disorganised and slow, but to be fair it was a busy night with some big tables.

Not enough stars for this experience. Everything from the front door to the time we left was amazing. The food was so tasty, well prepared and well presented - I had ribs, what else but the house speciality - with a potato skillet and spiced apples and it was absolutely delish, and filling. But wait, theres more. The evening would not have been complete without our server, John. Delightful. So professional, unobtrusive and yet so friendly. Made the whole evening a lovely way to celebrate with friends. Thank you Baton Rouge (Albert Street, Ottawa) altogether an experience worth repeating.

A fun place to eat.

Went here with work colleagues. The food tasted good and presented well. The staff were not great. They seem unsure what to do. We had a party of 7, and they tried to squeeze us in a small table that seated 5. All chairs were already touching, and they wanted to add 2 more to that little table. We had to suggest using 1 of the various other empty tables to bring the 2 together. This accommodates all people present. It was pretty awkward that this was so difficult.

Baton Rouge just served me a large size McDonald s fries (love McDonald s fries. I know them well) along with day-old Chinese food chicken balls that had been microwave-detonated into a bizarre batter explosion. It was truly a sight to behold which is why I broke the code of non-hipster humans by taking photos of my food right there in the restaurant. This was absolutely not edible. When the waitress finally returned she pointedly asked Would you like a take-home container for that? To which I replied No. I can t eat this. One may have thought that would evoke a follow-up question of sorts. Such as Why can t you eat this thing my restaurant called food? There were no follow up questions. None. The waitress simply presented a bill and offered zero apologies for the day-old chicken balls. Best advice: Don t eat at Baton Rouge. This was literal trash as far as Im concerned.

MORTIFIED BY THE END OF SERVICE. Me, my boyfriend and to of my friends went out for my birthday. The food was amazing not gonna lie but by the end of our service things went south quickly. Our server who was doing a good job at the beginning switched on us when it was time to pay our bill. We all tipped a total exceeding at least 30$ due to us splitting bills. After we paid, the server said I quote you guys suck due to our tips not covering his 5% service or whatever. I was genuinely hurt by it because we are students and tipping is not mandatory but despite that we did . If that was an issue we would have appreciated him approaching the issue in a more respectful way. The manager did a pretty good damage control and gave us 55$ restaurant credit but honestly the whole entire situation disgusted I don t think I could come back after. If anyone is interested in their gift cards let me know.

Today have been the worst experience I ever had at any restaurant the food was mid but overall at the beginning the service wasn t that bad . Until at the end when it was time to pay, our bill was 140$ me and my friends and l tip the weather 20$ but he felt like he deserved better so then proceeds to come back to insult us and scream at us. One of my friends was so tired and embarrassed by the commotion he was creating so he give him more money so he could leave. He took the money out of his hands proceed to look at us up and down started mumbling insults but finally left. What left me more in shock is the owner coming to gaslight us with a 50$ gift card from their restaurant as if we would ever wants to eat there again and he didn t seem surprise by the situation as if it wasn t the first time happening . Indeed when we were leaving we were stop but a customer who told us it s not the first time that particular waiter antagonize clients but for some reason the owner refused to take any actions about it . This experience has taught me everything l need to know about this restaurant and I know enough.

Hands down the best burger I have eaten Ina while. Excellent soft and fresh bun, slim fries with very good texture. Loved the service and the ambience is excellent.

Chose the Baton Rouge to celebrate a co-workers retirement. The food and the service (shout out Cass and Bella!) was great! So much attention to detail. I personally enjoyed the seafood and braised beef risotto from the fall menu (hope it becomes a special menu item from time to time) . For somewhere as expensive as this, I was really expecting an amazing meal. I had fillet mignon with shrimp. Both of which were flavorless. And the veggies on the side were plain and hardly cooked. The stuffed mushrooms I ordered were also hardly cooked. A friend had the steak poutine. Which was entirely too salty to eat. This restaurant lacks imagination and creativity, and sadly even flavor! 10/10 will never waste my money here again!!!

Been coming here for 20 years. First time, disappointed. Spinach dip was good, chips were stale and tasted old. Deducted off bill but offered a second option, then charged for it. Calamari was soggy. Caesar salad had not only Caesar dressing but vinegarette dressing too which seemed odd and tasted funny. Ordered filet mingnon which was under cooked, prime rib meal was not presentable and veggies over cooked / soggy and sloppy. Overall 1.5 stars. All wait staff offered was a free dessert.

The food was terrible, drinks were bad, service was okay, the prices were insane for what you get. Save your money, go somewhere else!

Tonight my family and I along with friends and thier families went out to Baton Rouge to enjoy a nice meal together. Jon, greeted us at our table and was genuine , polite and very attentive to our tables, along with ensuring others were taken care of. The servers were also polite and efficient with our food. All in all it was a great night and experience for our family and friends. The only reason why Im hesitant to provide a 5 star rating is because an associate came to us while we were waiting on our deserts and advised us that our tables were only reserved until 730pm and youll have to leave by then. Very abruptly and not friendly what so ever in tone or delivery of her message. We started to explain to her that we were waiting on our desert order. She didnt acknowledge what we tried to tell her and walked away. You have what looks to he a great group of people working for to provide great experience, and then have 1 person take away from that. I would hope that you use this feedback if you feel it could benefit in order to avoid future references to this type of feedback. I was hesitant but also did provide the feedback to Jon when he assisted us with settling our bills. I also expressed to him that it was an enjoyable night and again the food was prepared with high standard. He apologized for the way it was handled with professionalism and thanked us. It was a great evening and experience overall, so thank you to team members who made it so.

Nice atmosphere but the reservation fell apart even when the restaurant was only half full. Nice meat but for the price it could have been tastier like in Argentine steak house.

Work Christmas lunch was at this location since we work nearby. The lack of friendliness/warmth from the servers/hostesses started things off in an odd way. Ordered the ruby rouge mocktail and was very disappointed - menu description states it s some fancy lemonade, garnished with fresh rosemary. They brought me a bright red fruit punch (could have glown in the dark) with wedges of lime and lemon with maraschino cherries. Asked the waitress about the fresh rosemary and if this was the right drink, she just stood there and asked if we were ready to order. I had a few sips and just could not drink it. 3 of us ordered the Santa Fe chicken and it was served with a Dijon mustard sauce instead of the advertised jardiniere sauce. All in all, we were disappointed and felt like we didn t get what we were expecting based on the advertised menu. Edit: they still charged me for the mocktail.
