Full Service Irish Pub in Downtown Ottawa and steps from Parliament Hill
We were walking down Sparks Street on a Monday night looking for a place to eat. The restaurant we originally wanted to go to, Rabbit Hole, was too busy, so we decided to give this place a chance. We asked to see the menu to check if there was anything we’d like. While we were browsing the menu and waiting for a table, one of us politely asked if they could use the washroom. From the very beginning, the server was incredibly rude. She gave us a nasty look and immediately said no, explaining we hadn’t ordered anything or been seated yet. We asked her to seat us at a table for three, but instead of treating us like customers, she rudely said, “I can seat you at the first table by the door, but seriously, if all you want is to use the washroom, don’t waste my time.” We were shocked by her attitude. I asked why she was being so rude—it’s part of her job to provide service—but she just doubled down, accusing us of wanting to use the washroom and told us to leave if that was the case. This was such an upsetting experience. We genuinely wanted to eat there since our first choice was full, but after how we were treated, we left and will never go back. Instead of letting us decide what we wanted to eat, she jumped to conclusions and made us feel completely unwelcome. Ottawa doesn’t have many places open on weeknights, but even if this were the only place left, I wouldn’t recommend it. The service was shockingly bad.
This bustling pub offers a fantastic selection of shareable food items and drinks, making it a great spot for a casual outing. We ordered the nachos, a plate of veggies that were perfectly seasoned, and some drinks. The service was quick and friendly, though the table was quite small and a bit restrictive—nothing major if you're just having drinks, but it can feel cramped if you plan to order food. Despite that, it’s definitely a place worth stopping by when you're in Ottawa!
We enjoyed a nice diner after traveling from SSM, our server was very nice and the old pub atmosphere was fun. It is close to Sparks Street.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Waitress treats you like garbage, specially the one in the front who receives guests. The food is disgusting, I asked for a steak pie and there was barely no steak in side, vegetables were not cooked enough, dey and hard. On top of that, something wich never happened to me, it happened at this place. We paid the bill and went out wait for the amphibious bus, at the bus stop, which is just in front, after 5 minutes that I left this racist place, Me, my mom that's 69 years old and her friend 74 years old, we felt like going into the washroom, when I actually went at the door and asked this ... lady in front, where was the washroom, she said I couldn't go in anymore and that was part of their law. The law says: ( Businesses that offer sit-down dining are required by the Public Health Act to provide washroom facilities for their customers). I explained to her that I was inside and that I had left the place just 5 minutes ago, she said I know but you still can't go inside. Now i Understand why even on Saturdays Ottawa is empty. Bars and Restaurants they have their own laws. Civil rights doesn't exist anymore. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!
Look like I go back to Wild West Cowboy saloon styled of pub. Actually was an Irish pub/ bistro. And we have a delicious dinner here in Ottawa. Not disappointed….everything we ordered taste wonderful. Service is fast and local beer they recommended here is very good too.
Just finished the Amphibus Tour and needed to grab a quick bite for the kiddos and drinks for the adults. We got a spot outside. Inside felt too crowded. The poutine was really well done. They then gave the kiddos a complimentary bowl of ice cream of their choice. It was a good random stop over.
Overall a cool spot downtown Ottawa on Sparks and Elgin Street. Food was really good, though it took a while to order and get the food. AC was really cold, so bring your sweater. Not bad prices for downtown.
Very cosy and safe neighborhood, we were late night Americans visiting Ottawa and looking for a bite to eat. Some restaurants say they were open late, but I recommend calling ahead if you are staying in Ottawa since their kitchens may close an hour in advance. I Calle Darcy McGees and they said their kitchen would be open until 30 minutes until closing which was awesome! We swung by, and Vanessa was the sweetest gal we ever met, and was so sweet to give us a seat and some glasses of water while we looked over the menu to place a to go order. We went inside to use the washrooms briefly, and the atmosphere was so cozy in there too. Will definitely be returning for some French onion soup tomorrow. The food was incredible, and we cannot express enough thanks to Vanessa who put napkins, utensils, wet naps and all our food in the bag which stayed nice and warm all the way back to our hotel! This is also part of our honeymoon trip and this was such a special memory for us, so thank you Vanessa!!! Much love and appreciation!!!
Food was absolutely terrible, some beers were too flat. Service was good, cant go wrong with Guiness at a pub.
We just had a long drive from Toronto and wanted to enjoy a pint in Ottawa, we entered right away at the first pub, but the staff member refused our entrance with an excuse , telling that is required a reservation to drink. We are from Germany and Brazil originally, but we live in Dublin - Ireland. We would like to enjoy a nice guiness in the evening. We travel a lot, we know many good restaurants around the world, and it is unbelievable how the staff still having stereotypes nowadays. It happened today, we told the staff member that we would like to have drinks and the other one asked if we had reservations. RESERVATIONS TO drink at the bar? UNBELIEVABLE, if they dont wanna accept costumers just dont make any excuse, just say that they dont wanna accept you, simple. We live in a place with plenty of pubs, and for sure we wont die, but these behavior is unacceptable. I feel only frustrated, but for the management a future reccomendation: keep that in mind to train your workers properly, because a pub should not accept stereotypes in all manners. God bless you all!
Great atmosphere, live music most nights. Old reviews say this is a chain pub, but ownership has changed, independently owned and the new owner has put $ into it. Lived in Ottawa 35 years ago, came here then, it s as good or better now.
Extremely rude and disrespectful management under new ownership
Good place to relax in the city center, decent food but the service leaves something to be desired, cold and indifferent welcome, the experience of dining in a place with charming decor is obscured by poor customer service.
I will start with; I dont understand why people complain about the service... Im here on a Tuesday afternoon with 1 waitress who also acts as a hostess and the service is perfect! I think it s representative of the image we have of a Pub, but with healthy choices on the menu! ;) Its a perfect atmosphere for eating and relaxing in the heart of the city, I recommend it to the simple person looking for a place to sit/relax around a beer
Great fresh pretzels
Recommended place to stop.
For me just an all round 5 star! Everything was just perfect and the Jalapeño grilled cheese was awesome Thank you! Food
The food was fantastic for pub food. I had the fish tacos, and hubby had the fish & chips (waffle fries). The craft beer was also goodI would definitely go back if I didnt live in Louisiana. Dietary restrictions: I am gluten sensitive, so I asked to substitute the flour tortillas (fish tacos) for corn tortilla chips. It was obliged and the meal was still excellent. The toppings for the tacos are very tasty.
We went to D Arcy McGee s on September 21 St after our Hop on Hop off tour due to its location. The service was fine but the food was awful! My husband had a Rueben sandwich which was at best disappointing , meat dry but fatty and stingy. I had chicken tenders ( which tasted old and reheated) . Would not recommend at all!!
Take out order after a long day, staff at door was very friendly, ran inside and got my order. Good portion, quick option of good food when not much else was open
Extremely rude owner and hosts. they re insulting customers and acting entitled and disrespectful for no reason this is the worst place you could ever go to in Ottawa take your money somewhere else cuz it s definitely not worth paying for below-average food and horrible services and the worst place to eat in downtown Ottawa was not fresh dont waste your money when we went to the washroom the manager scream at us if you are not White you are not welcome
A very decent spot for lunch. Very authentic Irish pub style. Loved the beer and burger. Burger was a little too well done but overall very good. Service was great!
Very rude employees.
Great place right across from Parliament Hill, friendly staff, and the food was amazing. If you go in the summer try and sit on the patio.. if you are going in the winter, the ice sculptures are pretty impressive. Vegetarian options: Salad choices are pretty good. Dietary restrictions: We were able to order non-dairy items without any issue.
Great service and Atmosphere! Food was warm and quick.
Update 8/24/24: Thought I would give them another try this time eat in. Waited 10 mins after being seated and not one person came to table to offer me drink or take my order. I left. July 2024 Takeout: Ordered Fion crispy tortilla bowl. Got all the ingredients but no tortilla bowl. No crispy tortilla bowl. Chicken was dry.
In Ottawa for a few days, taking in the sights. Stopped in for a drink on the patio, stayed for dinner. Great food, great atmosphere and our server was awesome. Her name was Lauren. My go to anytime I m in Ottawa.
Very good atmosphere in this pub. Super nice server. It was very good and plentiful
Very good Very noisy Sticky and dirty table Really poor and slow service, not professional. We left before the plates were served. We had to ask the waiter for our bill again! He was gone again...
Didnt know what to expect at this place because we hadnt googled it, but it was close to the hotel and it was getting late. Turns out it was the best food of our trip. The fish (haddock) and chips were the best I have ever had, so now ill always compare others to this place and that will be a difficult standard to meet. Patio dining was nice, very tranquil in the evening. Waitress was attentive and the drinks were also good. As a bonus, the price was reasonable. Parking: Walking distance from the many hotels in the area. Just a couple blocks from Parliament. Patio faces Sparks st, which is pedestrians only, and busy Elgin st off to the side. Nice setup.
Perfect casual outdoor dining on a warm summer night. Irish inspired menu and vibes!
Get the taco plate of fish chicken and beef , 9 in total. It was delicious
Waited close to 40 mins only to get a dry and cold burger. Service was decent, prices are outrageous for quality of food. Better places across the street Food
What amazing service! Beyond expectations. From the moment that we reached out to the restaurant to inquire if they could accommodate a team dinner for 50 they were super responsive and flexible. It was one of the best team dinners that we have ever had and this bunch has been together 7+ years and dozens of tournaments in Canada and the US. The Shepard s pie was the favourite by many and everyone found an item that they enjoyed. Thank you for your hospitality and making for a memorable experience in Ottawa. P.S. The person who runs your IG account deserves a raise!
Had the Shepard s pie there. It was a tiny portion and tasted like they use canned gravy. Not impressed at all.
Worst hamburger Ive ever had. The toppings were clearly not fresh, and the sauce on my hamburger made it inedible. The manager was also very rude when I went to the washroom, they scream at me even though Im a client. SAVE YOUR MONEY, GO ELSEWHERE
extremely rude owner and hosts. they re insulting customers and acting entitled and disrespectful for no reason this is the worst place you could ever go to in ottawa take your money somewhere else cuz it s definitely not worth paying for below average food and horrible service Food
The food and atmosphere is really amazing. The sun was out which made the experience even more special. The hostesses were friendly. The only downer was that our server was mechanical and not really interested in chit-chat. Perhaps it was just a one-off!
It was really cool before there was a change of management and the new owner is very, very unpleasant, disrespectful and has no manners. In the womens toilet there is a door that does not close, the tampon bins do not work either and there were tampons and toilet paper coming out. Finally, out of 4 soap dispensers, only one works. I referred all my clients to this place before, now I highly recommend Château La Faillette in the Byward Market!
love the patio
Checked into Hotel and walked down the street and found this pub. It was packed with people enjoying their bevys. Even tho they closed in an hour, we got our food / appetizers with quick friendly service. I know its a pub setting but was crazy loud in there, no sound dampners.
Great live music incredible bar and the Guinness was on point. Good fish and chips and also the shepherd pie
Great Irish Pub food, reasonably priced, great location
Had 5 double vodkas d not believe any of them had liquor in them :(
The meal (chicken wings) that was ordered, first arrived under cooked. It was sent back to the kitchen. When it again arrived at the table, it was burnt. Again sent back and we then cancelled it. The server was also not friendly or understanding. He expressed his interest in getting his shift over with as soon as possible.
Really gone downhill since new owners. Really terrible attitude. With so many amazing places to try during your visit, we recommend skipping this one.
Bees all around, Once we left we tried to get back inside to use the restroom and we were refused. Even with a big tip!!!!! Never Again.
We have been here every time we are in the area. Went here for dinner and definitely not disappointed!! The service, and food was AMAZING!! Love this place.
Dont order the nachos but good spot to watch the game
100% recommended
We had a great evening. Our waitress Chantal was perfect, professional, kind, attentive. Really a very nice place to go for dinner if you are passing through Ottawa.
We went there with a group of friends and were overall disappointed. There werent enough seats for us, so we had to squeeze in. They even ran out of glasses, causing us to wait for cleanup. Additionally, the service was slow, and the food was average.
Worst place to go out and have fun. Staff treats you like robots, where is humanity. Food is greasy and disgusting
During a recent trip to Ottawa, an otherwise wonderful city full of friendly faces and great experiences, my family encountered an upsetting situation at a local pub that unfortunately marred our visit. I was traveling with my young daughter who urgently needed to use the restroom. Despite the urgency of the situation, we were denied access to the facilities on the grounds that they were reserved for customers only. This policy in itself could be understandable under certain circumstances; however, what transpired next was deeply troubling. Shortly after we were turned away, our tour bus driver (a white male) entered the pub solely to use the restroom and was allowed to do so without question. This inconsistency in policy implementation led us to feel unwelcome, possibly due to our Asian descent. The feeling of discrimination was palpable and deeply disheartening. Further adding to our discomfort, we had to urgently seek facilities elsewhere, which led us on a 10-minute walk to the nearest available restroom at the Fairmont Hotel. This was particularly stressful as my daughter was on the verge of an accident. Its worth noting that the pub was not busy at the time of our visit. Several staff members were visibly free and congregating near the entrance, chatting amongst themselves, yet they refused us entry. This made the situation even more frustrating as it was clear our brief presence would not have been disruptive to any patrons inside. From this experience, its hard to imagine the level of service one might expect as a customer if this is how urgently in need non-customers are treated. Its not surprising to see other reviews echoing concerns about poor service. Given this experience, this particular establishment not only fails to live up to the warm hospitality Ottawa is known for but also casts a shadow over the citys otherwise stellar reputation. It is my hope that this review will prompt the pub to reconsider its policies and how they train their staff in customer service and hospitality. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness, regardless of whether they are a paying customer at that moment.
The staff service and atmosphere were good. I ordered a lot of food, but I liked the look. The taste left something to be desired. The sauce didnt penetrate the meat enough so it felt dry. Still, it was nice to eat with a cold beer.
No public washrooms applies to customers too apparently. Bought 30 dollars of drinks, tipped 13%, got up and stepped off the patio and went oh shoot, I should go to the bathroom quick before I leave Was told by the host there are no public bathrooms. Once you ve paid you re not a customer anymore. I had taken one step off the patio and suddenly I was banished to the shadow realm like I d never even been there. What the heck? Won t be back.
Basement seating right by the stairs. Had the fish and chips and they were beyond greasy. The blueberry cocktail we had was delicious. The server was friendly but never offered us any water. Haven t been here in years and the food quality has gone way down.
Unfrendly stuff
My girlfriend and I went here for dinner and everything from the food and service was amazing thanks!
We had wonderful service with Josh. The food was so good and we want to go back. Its safe!!!
Great vibe indoors. Good beer selection. Very good food. Parking: This restaurant is right near Parliament Hill, so parking options are more limited. Very little/no street parking but several paid lots nearby Food : 5/5 |
Good food, good service, a nice pub in a nice area.
The food was fairly good- fish and chips and the Hunter s dish (chicken breast in gravy) were good. Double stacked chicken burger was alright, but wouldn t recommend. The worst part of our meal was there was a lipstick stain on my cocktail glass. It was a used glass and it was insanely disgusting experience. No, I will not recommend this restaurant.
Ultimate tourist trap. Great location, but atrocious service. Ordered a mojito and received a glass of watered down bar mix. Immediately and politely returned it, but was charged anyway. Told this was their policy. Manager refused to speak to me about it.
Josh the bartender was completely overwhelmed and overworked and still managed to provide some of the best service
Gay Mike told me about the food and he got me food when he was not working. Vegetarian options: Cobb salad. Parking: Good
Mike is great!
Very good, very good!!
This establishment has steps. Arriving inside this cozy atmos- phere with tables, chairs, and barstools, I went inside for a quick lunch. The waitor was prompt . The meal consisted of an unusual yummy chicken sandwich. It consist of bread, the filling mixed greens, chicken, egg, avocado, tomato I think mayo with thinly sliced red onion with bread on top. The soup base was tasty with vegetables and a small salad with mixed greens and wolfed it down! The washrooms are clean
What a great place. Our server Alex was so lovely and attentive. Best over.
It was fine.
We had a family gathering for our annual hockey tournament and arrived at Darcy McGees downtown Ottawa location without reservations. The manager accommodated us beautifully in our own section and personally handled our food and beverage orders for the evening in a jovial and efficient manner. It was a great evening for all 25 of us. Thanks again Alex. Hats off to you.
Mike was the best server, we had a great time largely because of Mike. The in-resraurant entertainment was wonderful.
The Grilled Cheese Popper was so dry I couldnt even eat it. The waitress didnt offer me a replacement or discount. My partner had a salad which was good. The atmosphere is okay, a lot of family were there. Its f--t different upstairs, but first time and I was in the basement. The waitress was friendly and came to see us often. Overall its ok, but I wont go back.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Ottawa from New Hampshire and decided to check this place out. We went later in the day (two hours before closing time) so it wasn t packed. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and some food. The bartender is one of the funniest guys; I don t remember his name but he was tall and blonde. He had both of us cracking up. The food and service were great. We d go more often but it is a 5 1/2 hour from us
Love the style in this pub. It was a lot closer to my hotel than I thought. I came for dinner and talked business over the steak/mushroom pie and a pint. Then I had a really nice orange pekoe and jameson, which is a combo I will try again. The awesome part about this pub is that they have the death hand of DArcy McGee. I learned about him on a tour of the jail across the canal and how he was unjustly tried and hung.
Good food
Unique atmosphère, reasonable pub food and good service.
Im not even impartial. I want to say how amazing the service was, friendly and efficient. (Emily) She was welcoming and warm, knew her stuff and my kids adored her. This restaurant has restored my faith in pub nachos. Perfectly seasoned, layered with lots of toppings, perfectly wet and crispy. We had the taco beef nacho and usually the beef at other places are dry, but this wasnt dry at all. The price is right for the quality. My kids ate it... my mother ate it... I ate it. My child had kids eat free chicken and the chicken was PERFECT!!!! JUICY AND CRISPY!!! Bravo!!!!! STANDING OVATION! KALLOOSIT DUNN
Good lunch. I had the fish and chips it was fandidallytastic. The service was quick and I didnt feel packed in. Food : 4/5
On their outside patio with firepit, enjoyed a nice pint of Guinness with Poutine and mini yorkies filled with shepherds pie
Rude hostess
Best Guinness in Ottawa and always a perfect pour! Great pub with a friendly atmosphere! Quick service and nice staff! Menu had lots of yummy options on it! Definitely gonna be ago to now! Gonna come one night for their live music on the weekends! Cheers
Bartender Mike lets goooooo
Well located in downtown Ottawa for Theatre goers to NAC. Good variety on the menu that goes a little beyond typical pub-grub. We had the Bacon Burger and Salmon Bowl. Burger was great, though not a huge fan of egg buns. They seem prone to disintegrating when you eat. My wife liked the salmon bowl. Good mix of flavours although the salmon was overdone.
Excellent pub in the heart of the city.
*Shockingly* good calamari - for Ottawa and for a pub joint. Would go back whenever in the downtown area just for those.
Ive been here twice; once for lunch and once for dinner. I loved the atmosphere and the decor, and the both servers I had were awesome. Food is hit or miss, I had their beef and mushroom pie on my second visit and the gravy in it wasnt great. Their portion size was great, though, and there were lots of good things to choose from on the menu, and Id go back for the atmosphere alone.
Good pub, live music on weekends
My companion and I have been here twice in the past couple of months and both evenings were delightful, the service capital P professional, and the atmosphere very lively and cozy. Most recently, we shared a rack of ribs, which was truly the best rib meal Ive ever enjoyed. DArcy McGees is conveniently situated what seems like inches from the National Arts Centre, so its a perfect venue for a pre-show dinner. Be sure to tell your server that youre attending a show, and theyll happily accommodate you. If getting together after a show is more what you have in mind, DArcy McGees is a great spot - youre already maxed out on your parking anyway!
Best Frenxh Onion soup in town! Served by the best bartender in town Mke / Doc v2.0
Was in town with some friends and we wanted a good classic pub night. Our waitress Kayla delivered beyond our expectations and made all our dreams come true! She was personable, made great recommendations and the food and drinks were spectacular! Definitely will be back next girls trip
Nice atmosphere and great fish tacos.
New owners! Fantastic place to eat!
The bar staff were awesome and entertaining, there was a new young lady being trained and she was perfect for the job. The fish and chips and steak and kidney pie were delicious; although why put garlic on pees? The greeter had a bit of an attitude, we asked for a seat outside in the shade, she put us in the corner in the sun. We did try but it was too hot so asked to move inside and she tries to put us in the corner between an exit door and the way to the ladies toilet. By now we were a bit exasperated and chose to sit at the bar and it was a good decision. That being said, it is a great bar.
Wife and I stopped here for a quick drink and some nachos unfortunately, the nachos were not very appealing or tasty. The chicken was old looking and grey, and evidently, I am typing this from the toilet an hour later. With the nachos, I ordered guac on the side and emphasized we wanted some salsa and sour cream on the side. Was extremely put off when I saw that I was charged for sour cream and salsa on the side of a $23 plate of chicken nachos $3.50 each! I do NOT recommend going here!
I love burgers and this one was . Bad. You can see in my picture.
Me and my buddy went to Ottawa to visit the city. We stumbled upon this place called DArcy McGees to grab some grub. We looked up the reviews on Google Maps and they seemed pretty good, so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered two different dishes to share. One was this awesome Indian-style Fionns Butter Chicken, and the other one was some kind of Steak and Mushroom Pie (I cant remember the exact name, but it was a seasonal item, so just ask the staff for help). Both dishes were absolutely delicious! I swear, Id totally bring my family there again and again if we ever go back to Ottawa.
Just dropped in for a late afternoon drink. Were greeted by pleasant hostess & quickly seated although it was a busy place. Our waiter was super friendly & got our drinks just right- even went the extra mile to allow me to determine how much of a certain mix I wanted in my dri nk. Pleasant spot with lots of atmosphere.
We dined in after a bus tour. And I had the best burger EVER!! My son had a fantastic Poutine. Great service with a friendly server. Will go back for sure. Food
The Location was good and the food was decent and fresh. The Irish coffee tasted great. And Our server was absolutely awesome. Visit. Its great
Had lunch here today. I ordered the shephards pie with house salad. Overall, I think the dish is decent but Im not a huge fan. The salad tastes fresh but the pie tastes a bit bland. Nice atmosphere but the music is a bit too loud for me. I gave this place a 4/5 but a more accurate rating would be 3.5/5 imo. Maybe I just havent tried their best dish yet. May come back to give it another try next time.
Disgusting retororant and people working there amateur food was late smell so bad I will complain to health and Safty.
I cant give 5 stars, we found it really expensive: $90 for 2 beers, 4 sodas and 2 meals: chicken wings and nachos... BUT... The chicken wings were incredibly good. We had honey and garlic and the breading, the sauce, the chicken, everything was perfect. The nachos were okay, an extra $4 for a cup of guacamole as big as a tablespoon, I found it exaggerated but hey, it was all in all delicious. Vegetarian options: There was the cauliflower wings option, I thought it was good!
Vegetarian options: There is a whole page of the menu devoted to vegetarian and vegan options. Food
We ate ribs and salad. Portions are average. Everything is very tasty. Served quickly. We were satisfied
Bit crowded on the more popular nights but always a decent spot. Big plus for me is the military discount on food!
Always good food, service and a nice atmosphere upstairs or on the patio.
Cool atmosphere. Food was good. Had an excellent cocktail. Wait staff was excellent.
My sunset spritz had no alcohol. I asked to be changed and they just explained me that because of the sweetness I could not taste it.
Poor. Poor. Very Poor!!! Total waste of money.
Bar tender was great very friendly, quick service actually feels like an Irish pub
Great service. Comfortable place.
Even I was not in a rush, worst service ever, 30 min to bring anything and waitress always ghosted us. Food was below average, desserts were the worst, we ordered a donuts and came with no sugar coating. I would not recommend it, look out for other place.
This DArcy McGee is located in a very iconic location in Ottawa. It is a standard Pub. Service was friendly, attentive and nice. Inside was standard Pub style. Tables were small and need a clean, as they were a bit sticky. Food options... of course ... standard Pub options. Burgers, Fish & Chips and other. My meal was good, no complaints for standard fare. Beer options... standard Commercial offering, which is terrible, IMO. Corona, Guinness, Bud and other standard options are not going to separate the restaurant from the many options for Pubs. They had one Big Rig option and one Mill St. beer. But geez, they can do way better to have more local Brewers. And nearly $10 a pint for standard Commercial beer... yikes.
Kid-friendliness: There is a childrens menu Wheelchair accessibility: The outdoor area is accessible by wheelchair. Not the interior.
Frequented there last summer and was never disappointed! Heading back tomorrow to celebrate a birthday July 2023.
Great friendly place
An Irish pub in Ottawa. The staff is nice, the food is lovely and massive portions. The Guinness is not great but there is no Guinness better that the one in Ireland.
Staff took quite a long time to arrive. Quite a few varieties but nothing more.
Great place e to when in Ottawa go we come here at least once a year food is awesome and the staff are friendly service is good and prices are fair
Friendly staff and old European charm.
Absolutely will NEVER walk through the door again. Waited 45 minutes for our food and the server informed us that they didn t have the ingredients to make her order??? Then told us they weren t going to charge me for the Dirty Fries I ordered and charged us anyway. Ridiculous!!!
Great food, helpful and friendly staff, and great location!
A trip to Ottawa isnt complete without a stop here. Came for lunch and didnt disappoint. Will be back next time were in Ottawa. Kid-friendliness: Usual kids menu... Kids enjoyed their meal and nice to still see a dessert included.
We sat for 20 minutes before a server arrived. After taking our orders we waited another 15 minutes for our drinks. As the server approached our table, she proceeded to spill all six drinks (two caesars, a Guinness, and three waters) in my fiances lap. The unfortunate mistake turned frustrating when the server didnt offer her a towel or try to help clean her clothes, instead she briskly pushed everything from the table onto the floor and attempted to clean it up with a few paper towels. After asking the server for towels to clean her soaking wet jeans, sweater, and shoes - she went inside for an extended amount of time only to re-appear with three paper towels. As my finace sat there soaking wet we were continually passed over by staff making no mind of the situation. We then asked to speak with the manager about the sweater that was now ruined. He mentioned that we would not have to pay for our drinks (that were on my finaces lap/the floor) and he would give us a drink ticket for the trouble. Frustrating that an honest mistake turned into us being responsible for replacing a pair of jeans and a cashmere sweater that were ruined. I didnt even get to enjoy that Guinness.
Great pub food and also some interesting cocktails on the menu. We try to drop in a couple of times a year.
Best atmosphere in town. Old bar with great ambience. The menu is the menu, same as elsewhere. But the location is historic and wonderful to be in.
Stop in here every time we go to Ottawa. Good location, always busy. Good is good, and staff have always been great. Can be loud inside, but lots of space on the patio too.
I always stop here when I m in Ottawa. Great atmosphere and location, the staff is so friendly and the live music on the weekends is always great. The food is also great, one of the best French onion soups I ve ever had and all the classics like the Shepard s Pie, fish and chips, wings etc never disappoint.
We always stop here when in Ottawa and have had Dale as our server many times a the food is always piping hot - and the service attentive and friendly . Today , when Dale offered us boxes for our food we declined (as we had no microwave in our hotel) and then he offered us the box to give our food to someone in need . This type of service to his customer / his community is what I would call above and beyond. It reminded me to be humble, to be thankful , and to give back to the communities we visit or call home. We thanked him / let the manager Alex know how amazing it made us feel- gathered out to go boxes and promptly delivered them to patrons of the community. For many reasons - we will be back/ but especially for servers like Dale ! Thank you
Nice baroque brasserie near Rideau Canal
Convenience, flavorful, and great service! The staff is amazing.
The service is terrible. We waited over 10 minutes before we were served drinks. We waited over 20 minutes to order food and decided not to because of the wait time. Then we waited for our bill which took forever. This has happened many times before. Ill never go there again.
Great pub food and service However, wished it accepted the Ultimate Dining card at Sparks location. Otherwise, great!
Great spot for the DDs and people who dont drink to hang with the people drinking. They have cocktails without alcohol and a couple non-alcoholic beer choices. All were great and the food was great aswell
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. If you visit Ottawa, be sure to visit this Irish Pub
I cannot judge the food as I didnt order any. My wife and I enjoyed a few drinks our favorite is called Purple Rain. It was delicious
Irish pub in the Ottawa downtown classic architect and nice atmosphere friendly staff different choices of food especially calamari was a really good chicken sandwich a bit dry and not much sauce on it but it is a good location, especially for evening and night time.
Food was amazing
I was invited to a party and the restaurant is close to the haunted walk. Our server was great and the Chicken Schnitzel I had was tasty. It hit the spot. We were seated downstairs where large groups were and there was a constant draft coming from where I was sitting which meant I needed to keep my sweater on. Food
Great food!! Great Service!! Great value for price!!
Beautiful interior decor. The fish tacos were excellent. Efficient service.
The fish and fries was cold and with a lot of oil. I leave with a terrible experience of the restaurant. The fish suffered for nothing simply steaming the plates is not enough to call a dish fresh
Saturday November 11 Very busy pub, nice atmosphere. The singer present gave an excellent show; cool musical repertoire. We didnt eat, so I cant rate the food, but as for the drinks: I liked their selection of local beers.
Loved the pulled pork grilled cheese and the steak and mushroom pie. Super friendly service and class Irish pub atmosphere.
Great food and cocktails and the location is great for a night out at the Arts Center, but it can feel crowded and the service can be on the slow side.
Only went for drinks but been here many times and the food is always great. Great service and friendly service.
Nice little Irish Pub in the heart of our nations capital. Their menu has evolved over the years to make it more North American, but they have kept some of their classics. Awesome atmosphere.
Great place
Good food and drinks. Service was great
Best restaurant we have ever been to. We are sad we live so far away! Amazing food, wonderful, kind and personable staff, with a warm inviting atmosphere. Deserves 10 stars . If you havent been you are missing out! We would have included a picture of our food, but it was way to yummy looking we had to eat it immediately. Try the jalapeño popper grilled cheese
Service was a little slow but I also was there for late dinner during a live music event (on a Thursday night) so it was a bit busy and we had a party of 20. So honestly, it was quite good. I got there for 7pm and left by 9pm. I ordered the steak and mushroom pie which was a great sized serving with mashed potatoes and veggies. Reasonably priced and friendly service
I absolutely love this place!! The food was amazing and excellent prices. Staff and service was the best!! There were 4 of us. The atmosphere and pub like experience was through the roof!! There needs to be places like this in every city!! Vegetarian options: They have enough on the menu for everyone to choose
What a rude waitress; we kept bothering her to order more appetizers and drinks. Maybe she should get another job where hungry and thirsty clients wont bother her for them to spend more money. Very weak management to be hiring such incompetent staff. Next time we go where we are appreciated - right across the street!!!
Monday chicken wing special no good, Thursday app day is average, pickle is okay, calamari is okay, chicken bites and spinach dip no good. Was made to believe the waiting time is 15min, called not really waiting list so means should be seated fast, but waited a whole hour without any explanation or apology. Even local beer on tab is expansive. I was thinking to try the Wednesday two can dine deal, but I don t think so.
Music far too loud. Spoiled the occasion as we were shouting at each other.
We stopped at Darcy McGees for lunch after touring around Parliament Hill and surrounding area. So glad we came here, it was a great dinner! Our server was quick and attentive, food came out quickly. The chicken wings were amazing. Our meals were hot, fresh, and delicious. I definitely recommend this place! Kid-friendliness: Kids loved it here. Cheap kids meals.
Nestled in the charming parliament area, this establishment is a gem offering a delightful variety of delectable food and drinks. The bustling atmosphere adds a lively energy to the dining experience, making it an ideal spot for those seeking both culinary delights and a vibrant ambiance. The staff, with their warm and friendly demeanor, contribute to the overall welcoming vibe, ensuring that patrons feel right at home. Whether youre craving a culinary adventure or a casual hangout, this place has it all.
The meals were delicious and service was perfect. The atmosphere is great but its quite loud
Vegetarian options: Can t believe an irish pub to have veggy wings and that is so tasty. Thank you Recommended dishes
Service was great even tho they were busy and shorthanded (our server was also helping behind the bar). Fish and chips was very tasty and a nice portion size. Carrot cheesecake dessert was delicious and big enough to share.
I always make my way to Darcy McGees s on Sparks when I am in Ottawa. Great Pub food! Busy place so sometimes the service is slow and difficult to just visit. Reasonable prices. Food
Way too loud and noisy for me. Others seemed to be happy and celebrating. Fine establishment, just a place for a 70 year old
Food is fantastic. Best calamari ever. Cool atmosphere. Live music. Staff is great!
