First time trying Ember last night. We ordered the salmon crudo, beef cheek pizza, oysters, eggplant dip, bone marrow beef tartar, and spicy crispy tuna. All of the food was really flavourful and well presented. Our favourites were the spicy crispy tuna, eggplant dip, and the beef cheek pizza. We were a bit disappointed in the over-toasted plain dempsters bread that came with the bone marrow tartare. You’d think that with a dish like that they may try to give a better option like their fresh house made bread. Overall I would say the best part of our experience was the food. The drinks were such a let down. We tried so many different cocktails on the menu, each one more disappointing than the last. You’d think that an “upscale cocktail bar and restaurant” would put a bit more effort into crafting their bar menu. The service was not great. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that possibly they were understaffed, but there were very long waits for our food and drinks (to the point that we were ordering 2-3 rounds of drinks at once so we didn’t have to wait as long as the first few rounds took). Our server rarely came to check in on our party of 5, we had to flag her down to come to our table every time. As we really did enjoy the food, we possibly will be back. hoping that they can improve on their bar program, and service.
I recently visited Ember in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, the ambient environment and cozy vibes set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The décor is modern yet warm, creating the perfect atmosphere for a night out. The food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and you could tell it was prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. The portions were just right – great value for the price, which is always appreciated. We didn’t have to wait too long for our meals either, as the food came out in a timely manner, ensuring we could enjoy our evening without feeling rushed or delayed. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always checking in to make sure everything was perfect. Their professionalism and welcoming attitude made the experience even better. I highly recommend Ember to anyone looking for delicious food, great vibes, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning soon – this gem in Byward Market deserves all the praise!
Here is one of the bed restaurants in town. Their foods are delicious their service and staff are friendly and helpful . Their drinks are great, although they are pricey for the amount you get. I was there another time and I always order coal roasted eggplant. This time unfortunately I didn’t get the smoky taste that I expected from the other day. But in general they are amazing.
Very nice interior atmosphere and ambience. Food was okay. Chicken seemed a bit drowned in butter. Desert and drinks were good. Order took a while to come out despite the restaurant not having many guests when we arrived but overall service was fine.
Dining out should be an experience. I love food, and I love cooking, so when I treat myself to a night out, it should feel like a culinary vacation. I shouldn't return home feeling like I wasted my money since I can just as easily cook at home. Ember did NOT disappoint! We were considering a restaurant across the street, but one minute until opening, the place was still dark. That was not a good sign. The aroma of wood burning drifted from across the street and we walked over almost trance-like. As soon as we read the illuminated menu outside (nice touch that it was illuminated!) and read that bone marrow was available, we had to try it. Decadent is the only word I can use to describe the food. Sorry, there's no picture of the bone marrow because my dinner companion dived in before I could snap a picture! The service was impeccable. The cheesecake was to die for. Do you know when you're a regular customer somewhere because you discovered one dish you like, but you're wary about trying anything else? That's not the case with Ember. We can't wait to return and continue our culinary journey. Beef cheek pizza? Yes, please! Everything on the menu sounded amazing, and our meal last night proved that this place cares about its food. That's how it should be. If a restaurateur doesn't care about the quality of the food, and service, then what's the point? My only regret is that we didn't find it sooner. Note to the owner: Please always keep bone marrow on the menu! Extra note to the place across the street: You snooze, you lose!
The drinks were good, skip the food. The pasta lacked flavour other than being spicy and it was cold. The service was slow overall and lacked attentiveness. For end prices I expect a bit more. Waitress kept using gendered language which was off putting. I would suggest saying things like “folks” instead of “ladies” to be more inclusive.
They make their own gluten free pizza, bread, and pasta! This is how you know they take great pride ensuring everyone can enjoy each bite the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Reg was our server on the bar side (very comfortable high top btw) and was incredibly sweet and attentive. His recommendations were spot on and he checked in on us just the right amount. Each dish was unique and full of flavour with very fresh ingredients. We tried a few dishes and regretted it because we ate so much. The roasted eggplant dip with the fresh made gluten free bread was an instant winner along with the fired olives. The chicken was like butter and the sauce definitely needs a piece of bread to get every last drop. I can't see anyone not having a great experience here. We will be adding this to our rotation.
Ember chef is cooking the dishes by deep love and passion! The food were delicious. Our waiter was a cool guy, polite, attentive and not disturbing 😜, the drinks are great but expensive for the amount of drinks you get it’s pricey. Although you would remember the taste and design of the drinks. The vibe is good too, it’s classy and cozy at the same time. Maybe the price and waiting time to serve the food can be considered as the downside, but still worth to try. Clarence is not the best spot for parking your car but there is public parking just across the restaurant.
I had a great experience at the restaurant. I had to return the fish because my first bite was full of tiny bones. If I were on a beach, I would eat it no problem! But in this beautiful atmosphere, I didn t think I could, haha. My server understood my situation, and we ordered the chicken instead. Wow, amazing! 10/10. A gold star for my server she was professional, kind, and even said, Your potatoes look cold, let me get you fresh ones. Like, wow! Thank you! To make my night even better, the dessert was on the house because it was my anniversary. What a great experience! You guys killed it , sorry for the fish guys!
Ember is the perfect spot for a date night, girls night or large group party. The food and vibes are incredible, not to mention their carefully crafted and delicious cocktails. The service is lovely and we always feel well taken off by the staff. One of the best spots in Ottawa, hands down!
Excellent food & drinks. The nice music was a nice touch. Great night out!
Absolutely horrible experience. Pathetic customer service, super bad management, they don t know the H of hospitality! Would never go back here when there are so many better restaurants.
Ember is a new fav! The rigatoni, pizza, and salad were absolutely delicious perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. Highly recommend for a fantastic meal
Food is very tasty and quite unique. Flavors are really well put together and make for a great dining experience. We started with the wood fired halloumi and the cucumber dip. Both were excellent, the halloumi being a favorite. We followed that with the stone fruit salad, papardelle and brussel sprouts. The deep rich flavor of the crispy sprouts was complemented nicely by the pleasant and slightly sweet salad. We finished with the basque cheesecake for dessert, which was a great way to finish the meal. Very highly recommend Ember for a nice evening out as a couple or with friends. Great atmosphere and service too.
Great food, went on a quick Ottawa visit, we had the Nduja pizza and the eggplant dip and both were excellent
Visited on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Food was excellent (Zucchini and pesto pizza ) but I don t recommend seating at the bar! Service was bare minimum; very long wait for the food and drinks. They should also avoid filming customers without consent!
This is a great spot in the market. Even when it was busy, it never felt overwhelming or overcrowded. The food and drinks were phenomenal. I would define it as upscale pub food with epic presentation and even better flavors. Id highly recommend Ember for many occasions. Whether its a date night, dinner with friends or even a business meeting, the ambiance is suitable for all. One of the owners, Kyle even came to check on us personally. Give it a try!
Fantastic dinner experience! Service and Atmosphere was top notch. The food is amazing, everything from the presentation to the taste. I highly recommend checking this place out.
Amazing experience. The food was phenomenal in flavours and presentation. Our server Josh was very knowledgeable of the menu and making recommendations and provided great service throughout the evening. I look forward to going back!
I recently visited this restaurant established by a former co-worker, and it was an incredible experience! I ordered the beef cheek pizza, and it was beautifully presented, packed with flavor and savory in every bite. I also tried the tiramisu, which was both a visual treat and absolutely delicious. The combination of textures and flavors was perfectly balanced. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality food with a unique twist!
Good vibe, cool furnitures, creative cocktails, good music!
Amazing food, amazing service. We were 6 and all enjoyed it!
10/10
HOLY MOLY!!!!! Was that ever a good dinner. The pizza was out of this WORLD!!!!!! The vibes were perfect, couldn t have asked for anything better, service was exceptional. I LOVE IT !!!!!!!! WOWZA
9 out of 10. Because the place only had a couple tables occupied, the servers were standing around, one looking out the window while we waited 15 min for the server to ask us for a drink. After that it was all 10/10, the food was excellent and the prices ware reasonable. The tuna appetizer and the rigatoni dish were simply excellent. Small but good craft beer selection. Nice atmosphere. Did not ask about deserts. Will definitely go back. Parking: 3 storey parkade across the street.
Kyle and Phil are the best. Because of their expertise and the quality of our food/experience.. we will be back. **Oysters and Whiskey**
First time visiting Ember and the concept is executed perfectly. You smell smoke the second you walk in and all the items on the food and drink menu reflect the open flame concept. The service was excellent making great recommendations and ensuring we had an amazing night. The Matcha cocktail was the perfect start, along with the beef tartare. The chicken, brussel sprouts, and asparagus were standouts of the main meal and the cheesecake was a great end to the meal. It is a bit pricey compared to some other restaurants with a similar atmosphere and food quality, but the whole experience is amazing and definitely a must visit!
What a great experience, Mom and I were visiting Ottawa and she googled restaurants near our hotel. Ember had some fantastic reviews. So once we arrived we were greeted by the sweetest hostess. Super accommodating as we changed from a high top table to the main dining area. I had the Beef cheek pizza and it was amazing, followed by this delicious version of Tiramisu. Our server was Josh, he was so incredible, professional, patient with my mom s food allergies and he was beyond accommodating, excellent server. This is a must dine at when in Ottawa. Super happy all around. We will definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: They were willing to accommodate my mom s MSG allergy.
Had an excellent steak with a bone marrow sauce and potato here. They only had local beer options and I didn t find them that great but who cares about the beer when the steak melts in your mouth. Enjoyed my time here in the heart of the byward market.
Great spot to check out in the Byward Market. Interesting cocktail menu. Great salads to share with a couple of glasses of wine. And the beef cheek pizza - wowza. You need to order this. We were visiting from the Okanagan and were so glad that we took a chance on this place. Open just two months - if you re in Ottawa and wondering where to go for dinner, go here. You won t be disappointed!
Excellent restaurant. Quality cuisine with a beautiful atmosphere. It s good to have new, good quality restaurants downtown.
I recently dined at Ember, and wow what an experience! Hands down, one of the best meals I ve had in Ottawa in a long time. This place is such an exciting addition to the city s food scene. We tried a range of dishes: the beef sliders, stone fruit and haricot vert salad, crudo, and the roasted eggplant dip, which was absolutely out of this world with its smoky flavor! The rhubarb and grape cocktail was also mind-blowing! Big shoutout to Cody, our waiter for the evening and the managing partner. He was fantastic! You could really feel the passion and pride when he talked about the food and the restaurant. It was clear that they re aiming for something creative with every dish on the menu. Also, the rest of the staff was incredibly polite and attentive. Can t wait to return!
Sat for 10-15 mins no service. Table for 4 came in after us (beside us) and got beers within 5 mins. We re ready to drop $400 on oysters, steak, bottle of wine . No thanks. Please learn from this please!! ***Management reached out immediately and solved the issue. Thank you so much and we ll see you soon!
Have been twice now, food is wonderful, tasty, and presented beautifully. Service was smart, kind and accommodating. Highly recommend.
The atmosphere and service was absolutely amazing First time back since it changed to Ember and the difference is palpable The food was tasty, drinks by Jovan was art, and the service by Hannah was above and beyond 5 stars is an unstatement! Thank you for a memorable day
Wow wow wow!! Super good, super service! I will definitely come back
Nice restaurant, our server was very attentive. Food was good, although would like to see more entree options. The place was packed despite being a weeknight.
Amazing place. The staff was welcoming and really nice and the food was exquisite. If I ever get to come back to Ottawa I will repeat for sure. Vegetarian options: Plenty of veggie-friendly options.
Imaginative recipes. The starter of tuna and beer tartar was scrummy. But the main of sirloin steak in a marrowbone gravy was on another level
We were a table of four, with everyone ordering different mains. All four mains were excellent, luckily we all shared. Service was attentive and friendly. We had lots of questions about the menu, and our server did a great job of explaining everything. We would definitely recommend Ember and look forward to our next visit!
Went last night with friends for dinner and drinks we all had an amazing time. Pizza and pasta is top notch. Great service. Cocktail creations by legendary mixologist. Food : 5/5
This is a long overdue review. We re from BC and were headed through the Capitol on our motorcycle and the market was a place we didn t want to miss. We both wanted something a little more classy this night but were having difficulty finding a place. She chose Ember s but when I sat down and looked at the menu I kind of turned my nose up seemed like limited selection of items I had never heard of and I expected small portions the opposite of what I was hoping for. Well, I was WAY wrong. Haana was our server and she was terrific. She told us that they had just opened the restaurant that evening but it was hard to tell, aside from being mostly empty. She also explained that the restaurant was going to specialize in organic and locally sourced fresh ingredients to create an original menu with fewer choices so they could perfect the offerings. The Chef from across seas and didn t even speak English! So, I ended up ordering the beef cheek pizza (what the heck is that) and my wife some sort of vodka pasta (sorry its been over a month since we were there) and oven baked bread. It took awhile to get the food but it was clearly because they were making it from scratch and not just reheating something prepared earlier. This food DID NOT disappoint. In fact, it was one of the most memorable meals either one of us had ever been served. We even caught the attention of a couple of people walking by on the street that noticed our delight. It was simply superbly fresh, delicious and unique. You ll not likely see their offerings on any other menu. Hanna very generously offered us dessert but we declined because we were actually full, despite the portions deceptively seeming small. She then asked us to sample their cheesecake on the house. Who could refuse? When I bake a cheesecake, I buy the best ingredients and sit by the oven with a watch and a thermometer so I m no slouch when it comes to this dessert. Well, I had no idea a cheesecake could taste SOOO good. Perfect texture, sweetness, even a hint of savoury from the cheese and the toppings pralines, caramel? Something fresh and homemade and bursting with flavour. The most surprising thing of all the bill. We spent less here than we did at St Huberts the night before for greasy chicken and soggy fries. The bill was less than a typical dinner for two at a pub. I ve gone on long enough. When we answered how was your trip? , this experience was the first thing both of us recalled. You owe it to yourself to try this place.
Good was delicious- spicy tuna, rigatoni, eggplant dip and half chicken- all really yummy and with great service. Disliked my drink and the waiter happily served me another more to my taste.
Tartare w/ bone marrow is craaaaazy. Love the middle eastern flavours applied to modern cuisine. Food : 5/5
We had a lovely time at ember last night. The servers are very efficient and friendly. We added someone to our table mid way through our meal and they still had the bills all perfectly done by seat. The food came out in different courses which is very important and the plates are presented beautifully. We sat on the patio and it is wonderful for people watching. The food was delicious and we would definitely come again when back in Ottawa. We had the tartare, salmon crudo, halloumi and eggplant and loved everything.
Check this new and incredibly delicious hot spot on Clarence, the service was perfect, and we had a large group, extremely attentive, and the food was fresh and delicious! Highly recommend! And my Old Fashioned was the best.
We were a big group of about 30 people and the service was excellent. It was the night before our wedding and so we went here after rehearsal, lots of space and the food is delicious. Thank you for hosting us and our people, we will definitely be back.
This is the most amazing restaurant!! The food is so delicious, bread comes hot, everything so refreshing and tasty, all the people working here are the absolute nicest, they were so accommodating of our party of 10 ladies, I love it here so much. It s so so good. It s also so trendy and sexy and beautiful. I will come back so many times and I don t even live here. I love you thank you
Fantastic experience all around. Highly recommended.
The food was incredible (the branzino was the star of the show), delicious cocktails, staff were very friendly and attentive, very nice atmosphere as well!
Ember is truly a special dining experience. The cocktail list is creative I loved their riff on a negroni (with mezcal!) and the food is superb. The crispy tuna bites and roasted branzino were my personal favourites, but everything was delicious. The service was also excellent. We will definitely be back!
Had a great meal this evening at Ember. We were a group of seven hard-to-please ladies, and our server, Josh, rose to the challenge. His recommendations for food and drink all turned out to be great, and his service was very attentive. I will definitely be back.
Great atmosphere and absolutely amazing food. I have been twice now since the opening and food was consistently great. Flavour and freshness is very impressive. Must try is 1/2 chicken. Innovative drinks. Our server Josh was very attentive and informative.
Had an amazing night! Food and drinks were absolutely delicious and our service from the bartender was 10/10. Must try the cucumber dip.
Had the loveliest time! Delicious food and amazing service, can t wait to come back :)
Amazing experience at Ember last night! We often avoid the market for date nights, but after reading the positive reviews decided Ember was worth a shot. I am super happy we did! We tried the Oysters, Beef Tartare & Bone Marrow, Boar Cheek Pizza and 12oz Canadian Prime . Every aspect of each dish was fantastic. The spicy Thai mignonette, the bordelaise sauce, the prosciutto meat sauce on the pizza, each of these could be consumed alone by the bowl The booth style seating on the patio was extremely comfortable and spacious, the music playlist was great and service was on point. The pricing is fair in my opinion for the quality of experience. We spent $235 for two people which included 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 4 cocktails and 2 non-alcoholic drinks. We will be back for sure!
This is a new place with tons of potential. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. My one complaint is that service was a bit lacking and slow.
I recently dined at Ember Restaurant located at 92 Clarence in Ottawa, and it was an unforgettable experience! The ambiance is warm and elegant, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The staff was extremely welcoming and professional, making the experience even more enjoyable. The food was simply exquisite, prepared with high quality ingredients and beautifully presented. Every bite was a delight. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a pleasant setting in Ottawa. A true culinary gem!
Great experience! Our Server Josh was very knowledgeable about the amazing menu. Food was fantastic and we will definitely be back again soon.
Simply the best dining experience Ive enjoyed in a very ling time!
The food and service was 10/10!! Mike was our server and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night!! Would definitely come back, would recommend to anyone in ottawa who is in the downtown area
Our experience at Ember was top notch! our server was very passionate about the menu, made great recommendations, and the food was incredible! Would highly recommend to anyone The beef cheek pizza was to die for!
Love this new addition to the market! Completely in love with the decor. Truthfully one of the best looking restaurants in Ottawa - we need more like this. The service was quick and professional. We had the beef cheek pizza which was 10/10. The crispy spicy tuna - also delicious - 10/10. The only dish we felt needed more flavour and re-working was the Beef tartare with bone marrow. Presentation was wonderful but the brioche it came with was not great in terms of flavour. I think a baguette would have been a better choice and the gherkins in the tartare for us added too much acid which took away from the flavour and also added an unpleasant texture. Over than that one dish it was a great experience. Hope theyll be in the market for many years to come. Rating 4.6/5 if could
Great spot for a girls night! We were a group of 6 with a variety of flavour preferences and a few food sensitivities/allergies but all found multiple items to enjoy. Everything was prepared beautifully, including presentation and the cocktails were to die for - I recommend the matcha milk punch. Already planning our next visit! Dietary restrictions: In our group we had gluten, cucumber, dairy and egg, veg. restrictions and had no issues with the menu
First time and quite by accident! A wonderful lunch and would absolutely recommend and return for more! Go try Ember!!
Tasty food and they have a good service
An unbelievable experience from the ambiance to service to food! Food couldn t be more on point. From apps to dessert, it was all cooked to perfection. We got Shayne as our server and he couldn t be more awesome for the job. So friendly and went above and beyond. 100% recommend and you won t be disappointed.
Amazing ambiance and the food is to die for! An incredible addition to the dinning scene in the market
This place is great. We went for a birthday dinner with a group of 6 and shared a bunch of food. Every single plate was delicious! You can t go wrong here. I love the atmosphere too, and it s nice having a more upscale restaurant in the heart of the Byward Market.
Very flavourful, thoroughly enjoyable food. Personable service with individualised attention. We loved the homemade sourdough bread. The pizza with beef cheeks was terrific. Super tomato and stone fruit salad. The paperdelle were also memorable. A great evening--even though we ran out of room for dessert.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Staff were all fantastic, and our server was a delight to talk to. Me and my husband went this evening to celebrate our 11 year anniversary, and were delighted with everything we ordered. The beef tartare and spicy crispy tuna were fantastic starters. Great flavor and beautiful presentation. We got the charcoal striploin and n duja rigatoni as mains to split, which were both perfect. The steak was extremely tender and perfectly cooked, with a textbook perfect bordelaise that my husband raved about. The Rigatoni was superb as well, beautiful sauce and perfectly cooked pasta. We got the Caramel cheesecake for desert, which was a great ending to our meal. Not overly sweet but hit exactly what you want to end off a heavy meal. My husband also got a couple cocktails, the black grape whisky, and sesame old fashioned, both of which he really enjoyed. Highly highly recommend this spot, especially since its only been open a few weeks. Love to support new spots, especially ones this great. We will absolutely be back.
This place may just be my new favourite in Ottawa. Service and food exceeded my expectations. We ordered 6 dishes and all of them I would recommend and order again (beef tartar, egg plant dip, Brussels sprouts, spicy crispy tuna, half chicken, beef cheek pizza) A special mention to Josh, M, who helped our waiter ; he showed so much pride in his job, Ember is lucky to have someone who passionate and dedicated to providing and experience for their guest. Our server Josh H, was wonderful and provided great recommendations. We will be back and be recommending this place to our friends!
This restaurant opened a month ago, which is why there are so few reviews. It won t be like that for long. We were exploring the area to find a place to get a snack and saw that Ember had 55 reviews at 5.0 stars. Not possible. Ohhhh, it s possible. Hands down, best meal I ve had in Ottawa. The dishes were ah-mazing - cucumber dip, brussel sprouts, and the halloumi skewer is the best dish I ve ever had, seriously. Hannah knew about every dish, the chefs and their motivation behind the food. She made the experience even better. Thank you and see you soon!
We had a great time at Ember for dinner and drinks. We are big fans of craft cocktails and the cocktails at Ember are some of the best we ve had in Ottawa. The food was also top notch. It s a huge upgrade over Cornerstone which was there before. Ottawa needs more of this.
Great food. Amazing vibes. Love what they did with the space. Will def go back
Kind service, great atmosphere, amazing food.
I wish I could give it 5 , the food was amazing, and we loved the live music (Ryan king), but the front of house service really needed a lot of improvement. Other than that we loved our time there.
The pizza is amazing! (Oh god the crust) I hope they will do the basic Margherita pizza at some point, I would like to try it. The beef tartare & bone marrow was very good. The presentation is beautiful but away from the dish in my opinion because you end up dropping tartare in the dried beans and then its a mess to pick back up. The restaurant is beautiful, you have several different seating options and they have a terrace. The service was excellent.
From the moment you step inside, youre greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere where modern decor seamlessly blends with rustic charm. The ambiance is perfect for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings, with soft lighting and comfortable seating adding to the overall appeal. Ok onto the food, having had the opportunity to try most the menu I can honestly say there is nothing I wouldn t order again! My favourite apps is the bone marrow beef tartar and the baba ghanoush dip , for the mains do not miss out on the fish as a main or even the chicken is a masterpiece. Cocktails are top tier, matcha milk was extremely enjoyable! the servers were knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Will come again, thank you
Had the most incredible dinner here this evening. All the dishes were incredible, layers of flavour, kudos to the chef. Lots of options, they were extremely attentive to dietary restrictions.
I m not the type to leave reviews, but this place is deserving of recognition that words can t describe but I ll try. Entering this restaurant, you re immediately welcomed by staff who are energetic and caring about their place of work. We were greeted by a gentleman named Josh who made us feel at home and excited about our reservation. Upon seating, you re provided with a level of service that is hard to find. The knowledge and confidence of the service staff is incredible. I d like to suggest specific food items, but I was with a table of six who all had different wines/meals and across the board we were all amazed by the food. Our server, Hannah, was exceptional. She gave great recommendations and provided service with a genuine care and appreciation for us and the menu. I will be returning soon, and I encourage everyone else to do so as well, you will not be disappointed. P.S DO NOT skip on the sides. Although they are not included in the mains, the quality and tastes make them a MUST TRY. (Specifically speaking about their side bread and roasted potatoes )
Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! The staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgable on the menu and ingredients used. We got the charred caesar salad which was perfect to share, the half roasted chicken with crispy brussels sprouts, nduja rigatoni, summer pesto pappardelle, charcoal striploin with pesto herb potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection and the portions were great. We also got all three desserts and WOW! Two of them were gluten free and they were amazing. Dietary restrictions: I have a gluten allergy and was able to eat here no problem! I let the staff know from the beginning and they were able to direct me to the perfect dishes Parking: There are two great parking lots within a 5 min walk
Im a huge food snob and is tough to constantly find a spot that is ALWAYS consistent on every visit. Ember is hands down the only restaurant I will probably eat at now in Ottawa. Best food and cocktails in the city! Unreal service! Almost too good to be true in Ottawa. If I could give more then 5 stars I would! Thank you for the gem!
An utterly incredible experience. The vibe, drinks and the food made it perhaps the best restaurant I have had the pleasure to enjoy. A must visit for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in all the best things this beautiful city has to offer. Credit to all the staff and everyone that makes this place work, it is truly exceptional.
Ember, the newest gem in Ottawas Byward Market, offers a dining experience thats simply unparalleled. From the moment we arrived, the people-watching was fantastic, adding a vibrant backdrop to our evening. The service, led by our incredible server Joshua, was impeccable, ensuring every detail was perfect. The culinary delights from the entire Ember kitchen staff, but specifically Ottawa legend Marc Plamondon, were nothing short of spectacular. We savored the baba ghanoush, a bone marrow and steak tartare combo that brilliantly reinvented these classics, delectable East Coast oysters, and an unforgettable beef cheek pizza. Each dish was a testament to the chefs creativity and expertise. To top it off, the cocktails were mind-blowingly good, each one more innovative and delicious than the last. Ember is a must-visit for anyone seeking extraordinary food, top-notch service, and an all-around incredible dining experience. Vegetarian options: They have veggie options! Dietary restrictions: They re willing to accommodate some dietary restrictions.
Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere! Perfect for date night. Will be back.
Outstanding Experience, will be going back again and it s a MUST try!!
Exceptional food, incredible presentation. We got the oysters, tartare, halloumi and salmon. All immaculately presented and arrived quickly. Ember the atmosphere and service level of a long-standing Ottawa institution despite being a newbie. Diners around us visibly delighted by every dish landing at their tables. Our sever Elle was an absolute pro - we will be back for sure.
The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the beef cheek pizza and gyro. Both delicious!
Had such a lovely experience at Ember! The staff were wonderful and our server, Josh was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We really enjoyed our cocktails and the food was delicious. We really loved the beef cheek pizza. The patio had a great set-up, we really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning. What a great place!
Ottawa s best new restaurant!!! This is some of the best food I ve had in Ottawa in a long time. I can t recommend it enough!! The flavours and quality is incredible.
New restaurant that we stumbled upon. Food was excellent, service was fantastic. great atmosphere/vibe as well. Group of 5 so we ordered a bunch of everything and shared. Zucchini Pizza, Stone Fruit/Tomato Heirloom salad and the wood fired halloumi were unreal. Cucumber yogurt dip was stellar. We ended up ordering 2 more portions of the Halloumi. The bordelaise sauce on the steak was the perfect consistency, and the steak was juicy and tender. The bread with the olive oil/rosemary was incredible as well. We got a bunch of those. Food is 10/10 and the vibe is very nice as well. Decor is awesome, gives off an old school fine dining vibe. Also, the chairs swivel which is brilliant lol. Will definitely be returning.
This hidden gem in the market area offers amazing service and cocktails. The cocktails are not only delicious but also presented like works of art, making them truly special.
Great discovery! A spicy menu with several dishes cooked on the fire! You can really taste the difference. We had a great time and will return in the future! The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of the dishes and the careful presentation. Also, nice selection of alcohol-free cocktails. Vegetarian options: Lots of complex, harmonious and delicious completely vegetarian dishes. Dietary restrictions: Several non-alcoholic cocktails
Great spot, amazing open fire concept and neat execution! Long live Ember!
Literally some of the best food Ive ever had. The staff were so nice and the cocktails were amazing as well. The prices are also very reasonable for the level quality. Beautiful interior, great date night spot ! Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Halloumi, eggplant, vegetarian pizza, vegetarian pasta Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and pescatarian options
Fusion Delights with a Romantic Flair! Nestled in the market area of downtown Ottawa, Ember is a new delightful fusion dining experience. Boasting a talented executive chef, who created a unique culinary journey of savory charcoal and live fire hot, cold and side shareable plates. Our table thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni, pappardelle, chicken, steak, potatoes and brussels sprouts in the intimate ambiance of the newly renovated decor. The meal ended with perfectly crafted desserts which were bites of joy! Thanks, Ember Ottawa, for a memorable dining experience! We will definitely be coming back for more!!
Had such an amazing experience at this new establishment in the Byward Market called Ember. Craft cocktails, innovative, fresh and delicious menu. Perfect date night spot, shareable plates- just wow!
Food and staff were both unbelievable! We ordered 4 or 5 items as a table and we were more and more impressed with each one. The Charcoal Striploin was one of the best steaks I ve had. Very impressed, will be back. So happy we have this spot in the market now!
