I see no healthy food their

Updated review: normally I would place 4 or 5 stars in FNS, their food is delicious and 90% of the staff is helpful. But this time we came for breakfast there was a server who ignored us for 15 minutes, would speak rudely to us/indifferent to our mere existence. When we asked for more coffee, it took over 20 minutes before we asked another server if they could help us. When we asked for 1 cup of water, it was another 15 before we were able to ask again. When we did ask again, she got upset, and brought a whole pitcher of water and one cup, said nothing and left. FNS has amazing service but todays was shocking and really upset my parents who were visiting. The server, btw, was not busy, half the restaurant was empty. They spent the whole service taking photos and talking to a single table of seniors. It is ok to talk to customers but to spend 15 or 20 minutes with a single table numerous times is not ok.

Great quick eats at a fair price

For the first time ever, I had bad service. I ve been coming for two years, and this is the first time I m seeing the lady who hosted us. However she walked away from the table as we spoke, didn t communicate at all, and all around, didn t provide the service you see here normally.

Parking: Is parked out front and received a fifty five dollar ticket. Be careful Food

A nice corner bar/restaurant right by campus. You get a lot of students and locals there. Sunday was very busy. Service was somewhat chaotic.

Bouncer was rude, hostile and aggressive with me and other customers for no reason, on a absolute power trip. This is my local bar as a student, and after 3 years, I am strongly reconsidering my future of coming here as frequently as I do. I expected better from what is regarded a top establishment for students in the city of Ottawa.

The food is great as well as the atmosphere and most of the waiting staff, except for their male waiter who is not professional at all, he acts snobby and gives us mean stares every single time.

Busy but efficient place with good and very reasonably priced brunch. Waitress was top notch and kept everything quite in order.

Nice a little noisy but excellent

Only came here for the breakfast which was good and cheap, cant say anything else for lunch / dinner / drinks because I have not tried any of them. The eggs were as I wanted them, sunny side up, sausages tasted good, toast had a nice crunch and the home fries had nice seasoning to them (can be a bit salty).

This is the place I go when I want to feel like I am in university again. Recreate those wonderous days I moved out, became independent and started my own journey in life. Food is great, service so kind - probably because the young servers have not weathered the storms of life yet, or have managed to stay afloat.

Excellent breakfast. Father and Sons delivers quality diner breakfasts with consistency, all their menu items are good, and I have never had a complaint with them beyond service that is sometimes overwhelmed with tables. Only thing I will say is that the breakfast potatoes are consistently too salty. Still love going there and will return.

2024/08/03 9 pm Ive seen better service at McDonalds the waiters are too busy trying to rizz up eachother that they neglected to actually serve me so after 15 minutes of waiting I go up to the counter and everybodys playing touchy feely and after I intruded and session they took my order and only took half the damn thing, so there I was waiting for like a good 40 minutes for food that wasnt even coming so like dont come here unless you wanna watch teens screw around and not do their job 10/10 was excited to come here 10/10 disappointed and 10/10 mad because they ruined my date night and to top it off theres like 5 items on the dinner menu

this might as well be a sandy hill institution at this point its been here for so long I never have a bad time here and have never left hating what I ate they are running a good deal every day of the week so the bill isnt too bad 5 outta 5 star no drama

The food was more or less, the service was bad like almost all the restaurants in Ottawa, the atmosphere is university-like, and if you want a quiet place to talk, look for another option.

Great place in the university neighbourhood to chill and enjoy nice food, filling and tasty. Fish and chips, pizzas are amongst our regulars. Good price.

Best breakfast in sandy hill

Literally the best breakfast I ve ever had. I was in Ottawa for two days and stumbled upon this place and omg it s fantastic. The home fries are to die for. I need the recipe. I m gonna think about that place for the rest of my life

Well, I cant rate the food as I did not get my food! Dont come when they busy as they are not organized! Dont think Ill come back for dinner but if pub fare is your thing then I suppose its OK. The food did come out quick for the others. My tip is that when tending tables ensure that everyone at the table gets their food!!!

My go to spot. The food is good, your standard bar fare. The prices are good (although I always watch my bill as sometimes the servers make mistakes, which is okay). Overall though I still call this a solid 5/5, never been let down by it and it s always been a great experience with generally attentive staff.

Located next to Ottawa University, very popular with students and locals from Sandy Hill. They appear to have a good special every day of the week. Great beer selection. Very vibrant atmosphere. Service quick , pleasant and efficient. We didnt eat, only pitchers of beer.

Decent food for cheap, but with service like that it better be! If youre wondering why the servers are so poorly trained, you need only look as far as the older gentleman that is clearly the manager/owner. Wouldnt even look up from his phone from behind the bar as we stood not two feet from him waiting and waiting and waiting to be greeted and seated as the sign suggests. Not a unique experience but probably going to be our last. Id have seated myself, but clearly with the lack of attentiveness we would definitely remain ignored. Absolutely pathetic response from management, short staffed? The place was very quiet and sparsely seated when we walked in at 940 this morning sir, and you stared at your phone facing our exact direction behind the bar like a teenager while we waited and waited for you to bother to look up. It wasnt like you were busy and it definitely wasnt like you couldnt have seen us, absolutely no excuse. Once again, the behaviour youd expect from a teenager and not a grown man, but your response is definitely on par for someone who is clearly that ignorant. Thank you sir!

Food is fantastic! Had the spinach dip and curly fries to split between friends. Definitely a place geared towards students, so keep that in mind. Prices are typical but the volume and quality justifies it. Love that they have deals for different days of the week!

Literally my second home

I dont remember anything about this place other than that my server Sabrina was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive, despite clearly being very busy. We had some custom requests and she handled them all with ease. She even saved my grandmothers life! Would come again, just for her.

For a bar that is situated right beside a college campus, it was decently well busy on a Sunday night. However our food was fast. The drinks were fast and the service was pretty decent. One thing I was surprised at is that the prices are lower than what I would expect at a typical bar or restaurant. And the quality of the food and with what you pay are quite reasonable. So if youre looking for a bar experience at a below average Ottawa bar price. This is the place to go to. The only thing that sucks is that its really hard to find parking.

Was looking at my breakfast plate recently and commented that it was a work of art. The toast, homefries, steak, and scrambled eggs were perfectly done & thoughtfully arranged. Wallys breakfast eggs are legendary. Get mine scrambled and theyre done to perfection. The coffee has the perfect caffeine quotient. Two cups and Im on edge. Practice makes perfect. F&S has been in the business for decades and it shows. They set the standard for early morning fare in the National Capital. For value for the dollar, the restaurant is the best in Canada. No wonder so many students and regulars consider the F&S their home away from home.

Great Sunday breakfast with the boys

Try their wings on wings night with hot and bbq but each time you go, the taste isn t consistent.

Perfect old school bar feel, the food is that bar grunge that comes out fast. Wings were solid, the lasagna was nothing special. The atmosphere is everything a bar near a university wants.

First time visit on Sat morning Jan 6th for a birthday Bfast with my family, and was delighted! Highly recommended! Service was A1, Food was delicious, quantities great and prices more than fair! Cozy feeling to the place, nice views outside from large windows and a few TVs with some sports on....loved it, we will be back 100% Thanks for a great meal and wonderful morning.

Went to grab a few drinks and wings but couldnt hear anyone talking cuz the music was deafeningly loud. The volume wasnt consistent and would go from a nice quiet background music to jet engine in seconds. Food and service was great otherwise. Decided to try this place as we wanted to go out for wings and dine on a patio in the nice weather. We had the medium flavour and honey garlic flavour wings. They were large and filling wings. Definitely did not disappoint. Will be back again.

A typical pub for the university students. The food is tasty and what you expect it to be (cheese curds in the poutine were squeaky!) But the highly affordable prices compared to other nearby places makes up for it! I would recommend the red sangria. The staff are super patient and nice with their accomodation of our large group on a short notice. Clean, bright pub vibes.

Whats there to say, its the GOAT breakfast spot in the world

I have visited here on a number of occasions in the past. While Ive previously noted that the staff always seem to be under a certain level of pressure, leading to longer than usual waiting times, I have always given them the benefit of the doubt. However, my experience this evening was simply beyond unacceptable. It was a Monday, traditionally not the busiest time in the restaurant industry, but still, we found ourselves waiting for over ten minutes just to be acknowledged. Finally, we seated ourselves at a table that was still littered with the remnants of the previous customers meals. When the waiter did appear, he not only refused to clean the table but also made it clear that he believed it was an unreasonable request, given our presence at the table. His attitude was shockingly rude. While I understand the pressures of restaurant service, there is no excuse for such discourteous and unwelcoming behavior. Good service is the cornerstone of any restaurant experience and sadly, Father & Sons fell dramatically short this time. I hope the management takes note and makes the necessary changes to improve their service. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant.

It was good overall. I went for breakfast, and in fact, the breakfast menu tasted the same everywhere, the servers took good care of me, and it had an exotic residential atmosphere as it was located in a residential area near the University of Ottawa.

University student staple. Automatic As in all your classes if you come here every night instead of studying.

I fondly remember F & S from my Ottawa U days and can say that its just as welcoming today as it was 35 years ago. I was with a large group yesterday, and the staff and kitchen had no trouble keeping everyone happy. Theres something on the menu for everyone, great drink options, and the servers are excellent. Definitely check them out!

My partner and I have been going to F&S for over 2yrs. We always enjoy our breakfast and the prices are great. This last visit, my partner had an anemic episode and was passing out. Not a single staff member came to offer help. I had to ask to juice (I was given 3 sips in a children s cup) and as one served us, I went next door to get Gatorade and something to eat. After some time, I had to ask the supervisor if we could order food so she could up her blood sugar. We ended up taking the food to go. The experience in dealing with their staff during a medical emergency was horrible, felt like a problem for them to ignore rather than help. We will not be returning to F&S after this, very disappointing.

I ve never been more honoured to be served by a beautiful gentleman named Michael. The best service i have ever had and i will be a forever customer. He gave me a hug and a back rub before i left which made the night even more beautiful. Life long customer.

The food wasn t bad and the waiter was attentive but I only gave 4 stars because it seemed like the waiter didn t care about me at all. He did his job but not once did he smile or act friendly. Just turned his back to me every time. Once I paid the bill I gave him a big smile and said thank you very much in an extra kind manor and he did not even respond at all, just turned away with no reply. Very very rude. Other then that food was great for price point

Consistently have some of the worst service I ve ever experienced. Was even denied service at the bar after waiting for 30 minutes at my table for the waitress and was told to keep waiting.

Affordable drinks and food, pleasant staff, and a nice vibe

Student pub atmosphere also suitable for visiting parents. Chicken Rice bowl and Souvlaki platter were fresh and portion sizes were good.

Our favourite place for breakfast in Ottawa. Economic price, best service and atmosphere

Although the food here is decent for the price, the service is just terrible. The past two times Ive been here with my partner, we have walked out without even being seated or even acknowledge by a staff member for over ten minutes. Im not expecting a table right away as I understand they are a busy pub. But, it felt like the waitresses and host were specifically avoiding eye contact with people waiting for a table and they wouldnt even say hello or give us an estimated wait time. These are some customer service basics in a restaurant. Even times when I have managed to get a table, service was typically very slow. I once waited over 30 minutes for a coffee refill... Overall, the food and the prices may be good, but the service is just too abysmal to justify coming here again. Parking: Small gravel lot in back of the building, barely large enough for 6-7 cars. Otherwise its street parking and theres usually none around due to it being hogged by university students.

A perfect place for Breakfast and pocket friendly for students too. Love the Waffles and Cheese Omelette. Swiss Mashroom Vegetarian Burger is really yummy too. Recommended dishes

My son, grandson and I decided to eat here because of the name and they served chicken wings, my grandson s fav. We were not disappointed, five stars on all accounts across the board. Great atmosphere, exceptional service and outstanding food, probably the best Pub experience I ve had in many years. Our new Go 2 establishment whenever we come to Ottawa.

Good value for money; great simple brunch food. Basic drinks. I think at busy times, they get a bit overwhelmed. Twice Ive had an order forgotten; perseverance required at peak times. But, to be honest, it cant be beat for the price. Food : 5/5

Cheap breakfast,orange juice was horrible, home fries from a bag and my eggs were over MD when I asked for over easy bacon was cold,its local so I support.the waitress was good about taking the juice off the bill so thanks for that.the sign over the bar says it all come classy leave trashy
