100 Elgin St, Ottawa, ON K1P 5K8, Canada
Upmarket place in the Lord Elgin Hotel offering steaks, seafood & many wines, along with breakfast.
I really enjoyed this place. Lovely red hardwood decor, high stools and table lamps, wine shelves and very subtly cozy service. The food was great, I really recommend the eggrolls
Had dinner and then breakfast here. Food was amazing, fresh and hot both times and clearly excellently made and presented nicely. During our dinner there were some other guests at the bar nearby who were occasionally shouting (probably watching a sports game and drinking) which was kind of loud, but outside of that not a bad atmosphere. Servers were all attentive and polite, asking us several times to make sure we had everything we needed.
I recently went out for drinks with colleagues and had a fantastic experience thanks to Amanda. From the moment we arrived, she was attentive and friendly, making sure our glasses were never empty and our needs were met. Her recommendations were spot on, and she took the time to chat with us, which added a personal touch to the evening. Overall, Amanda's excellent services really enhanced our night out. I'd definitely return, especially if I could have her as our server again!
Great location at the Lord Elgin Hotel. It is beautifully decorated in a classic contemporary style. The food and mixed drinks were good, but I was disappointed with the club sandwich (the bread was soggy). Poutine, steak, and fish and chips were excellent.
Just want to say Amanda, the bartender, went above and beyond for our little one. She was incredibly sweet and patient, making sure he was entertained while my spouse and I enjoyed their delicious Sangria! Amanda’s warm and friendly demeanor truly made our experience unforgettable. Their breakfast buffet was also great!
My mom and I are visiting Ottawa for a few days, and staying in the Lord Elgin for the first time. She has severe allergies so when she sees somewhere she feels is safe - we go. She saw a special Thanksgiving menu at this restaurant so we decided to go. Well from the first minute, we knew it would be an amazing experience. The restaurant was full so we got to sit in the private dining room with only one other table. Then Owe met our waitress Daphnee who was absolutely amazing - so friendly and offered amazing suggestions. She even asked our names and used them - making it a very personal experience! The kitchen paid close attention for no cross contamination with allergens for mom. The entire meal and experience was a 10/10!
Delicious breakfast in downtown Ottawa. The best eggs benedict Ive had in a long time. Everything was extremely fresh and the sauce not too heavy.
I enjoyed my breakfast here. The coffee was strong and tasted great. I ordered the classic breakfast with ham. I asked for the eggs over easy and they were OK, though one still had some undercooked white. The sour dough toast was great and the potatoes were crispy. The portion size was generous and it was definitely a full meal.
The egg-rolls were delicious. Service was good. Older hotel. Steak was good. On the fence about the tacos.
The Lord Elgin is one of my favourite places to stay in Ottawa. Was pleasantly surprised when Amanda at the bar recognized me as I walked in and welcomed me to the bar. Made me feel welcome right away. Great hospitality - I will be back! :)
Waited 20 minutes for her to grab a takeout box for my food
My wife and i attended a brunch as part of a reservation for a wedding brunch. We were a group of about 32 people, so knew things would be slower. However, we did not anticipate how slow. We waited almost an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. By the time we were served, members of our group had already eaten, paid, and left. The restaurant only assigned 1 server to our group of 32. Orders from the menu were routinely wrong or missing items, or given to the wrong person. The buffet ran out of most of the food (for those who chose it). A decaf, regular coffee, and hot water dispenser were placed in the room with us, but once it ran out, there were no refills, the dispenser was simply removed. We were then all charged 5 dollars for coffee despite it being empty. I do feel for the waiter as he was overwhelmed, but there was no apologies for the wrong orders or lack of items. Since we were a large group, we were charged a gratuity. Id normally be fine with this, but the service and wait time was so bad, I took issue with it. The food was fine. My wife ordered the French toast and I got the breakfast poutine. The poutine was surprisingly filling, though the wedge fries were a little strange to use (my own opinion and the menu said it was wedge fries). The French toast was good, nothing special, but nothing bad either.
It was great and service was excellent
Tasty food, good atmosphere
Big thanks to Shahed who was the best server. We had a very nice friendly evening dinner! And thanks for the extra Moscow Mule
The service was terrible. And the lunch was alright but the buffet breakfast was boring dry and bland.
Perfect restaurant , we went for dinner and breakfast great hospitality
First time in Ottawa, stayed at Elgin. Had room service one night, had to pick it up from the restaurant (not sure if they deliver to room, wasn t offered) - poutine was fine, the cauliflower bites were huge balls of battered cauliflower and the lady Elgin salad was not to the description as per menu. I had an egg sliced on top, no pomegranates which was not communicated with me at all. Second time, it was late and I didn t want to get out so I went down and ate in person - took half an hour to get my sandwich and Caesar salad, the restaurant had maybe 4 other people in there and it was meh. Never again!
We had an awesome server who was very knowledgeable of the menu and courteous. I believe our servers name was Mada, she made our Dinner pleasant to where my group and i would definitely come back. Thank you Mada for your service, you certainly demonstrated to all of us in my group you definitely live what you do. Fourtyone Grill is lucky to have you.
Just finished happy hour, the food and drink were fantastic and our server Kathy was an absolute pro!! Great food and even better service!!!
Very good restaurant A perfect score from our side with impeccable service from Graces The only downside is the wine list with little choice But the food more than makes up for it
Had their Chorizo Flat Bread, overcooked and greasy. Their Golden Plaza egg rolls burnt. Gross. Apparently thats how they serve them.
I was hesitant to eat at the hotel restaurant but I enjoyed a decent breakfast! Egg Benedicts were very enjoyable and their potatoes nice and crispy. Coffee a bit pricy but allowed me to take a cup to go!
Overall pretty good! Service was friendly but a little slow. Food was good though! Clearly labelled vegetarian and vegan options is a plus.
I just had breakfast here. They take time to take the order and serve the food. It is very expensive for the quality of food they are serving you. Obviously we wont be back and I recommend that if you value your money you spend it elsewhere. I must say that the waiter who served us seems to understand that they are offering a bad service (he apologized to us several times). Vegetarian options: Not many and not very elaborate.
Amanda the Bartender was SUPERB; friendly open and willing to create a most tasty cocktail for me using the Best Whiskey. Felt like an adventure definitely an unexpected Blessed Surprise. Looking forward to my next visit. Merci
Had a fantastic time here. It was late on a Sunday and not too many places are open but thankfully they were. The bartender and staff were very pleasant and friendly!
Fantastic and genuine service from Daphnee! She made the whole experience exceptional!
Fantastic paella, had no idea it was going to be so good. Felt as if I was eating the real thing in Valencia, Spain.
We tried to go here for dinner (first time), but ended up leaving after a drink due to the noise and poor service. When we were seated, the host asked if we minded waiting for menus, because they were all out. Weird, but there seemed to be a wedding related event going on, so maybe ok? I get that places get busy. A gentleman took our drink order and that went fine - nice to see Stray Dog beer on the menu. After a considerable wait (during which we just looked up the menu online) the paper menus finally showed up. The food selection is pretty limited, and the mains very expensive. That said, we decided to order, but waited long enough that we gave up and just flagged down a server to get our drink bill. We headed up the street to another restaurant. This was surprising given that it is in a nice hotel. I d give this place a miss. Ottawa has a lot of restaurants that are desperate for business, and this doesn t seem to be one of them.
The meatball is delicious
Amanda at the bar is a true gem! Her friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere, and her cocktail skills are unparalleled. Her friendly demeanor creates a welcoming atmosphere, and her talent shines through in every cocktail she crafts. The lavender martini, in particular, is a masterpiece, showcasing her skill in blending flavors to perfection. A visit to the bar becomes an experience of delightful drinks and genuine hospitality, thanks to Amandas impressive mixology skills. Thank you Amanda, we will be back for more tonight!
Amazing through and through. From the professionalism of the staff to the cozy and yet large atmosphere of both the bar and seating area, its elegance hidden in a dreary city. The mixologist can produce a 10/10, form a French 75 to a Honey Trap, and the kitchen has a sensible enthusiasm for food. Breakfast, bruch, late lunch, and dinner are all available (with wide vegetarian accomodation) and all of the menus are worth tasting. The wait staff are also notably incredible. If you cant be at a Taj or Shang because your in Ottawa, this is the please to be. 11/10
My partner and I went here for drinks and food after staying in the hotel for the weekend. I was blown away by the incredible service, staff, and food. The bartender is exceptional. He was able to craft drinks that were not on the menu and weren t recognized classics, but also the classic cocktails were elevated and the execution was perfect. When seated I noticed that we were walking toward a table with no table candle. Without even looking, the host pulled a light off an empty table and put it on ours. The food was flavourful, feels like it has a lot of thought and care put into it, and the menu is accommodating but not overwhelming. We will absolutely be back, if not for the service for the outstanding bartending!!! Vegetarian options: They have many flavourful vegetarian and vegan options
Food was delicious I have nothing to say , and try their beer !!!!! Vegetarian options: Poutine , nachos Food : 5/5 |
Why doesnt Google allow for zero stars? The Christmas buffet...where to begin? First, the food quality. Frankly, it was almost funny, if it wasnt so awful. The turkey was dry, the cranberry sauce needed ANY amount of sugar, the gravy was watery and flavourless, the stuffing was soggy, the dinner rolls were dried out and the desserts, well Im pretty sure they came from Costco. There was no option to order from the menu either. Thats my fault...I should have researched the menu for the day but I assumed a hotel of the calibre of the Lord Elgin would put out a decent Christmas dinner menu. Should have gone to The Keg. The ambience...what ambience? It was like dining in a dimly lit cafeteria on a university campus. For this, we needed a reservation? The music was too loud and it wasnt even seasonal music. The service...our server was passable but how long does a buffet plate have to stay on the table before its collected? Too long. My husband came back with his second plate and the first one was still there. And then the price...$178 of regret, and my husband only drank soda water. Maybe I should have had a second martini to forget the disaster that was this Christmas dinner. Spare yourself the pain...go to The Keg, The Social, The Courtyard...anywhere but Forty One.
Great Xmas buffet, the food was amazing along with the restaurant staff.
I spent 4 nights at the Lord Elgin and dined at Grill 41 a few times. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The waitress Diana (a young woman from ukraine) was wonderful and stood out in her amazing customer service. The nachos with chicken that I ordered the first night were huge in and full of flavour. The steak dish I ordered the second night tasted fantastic and juicy. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and tasty as well. Thanks for making my experience so enjoyable in Ottawa. I wont forget it.
Delicious food for all three meals during our stay. Timely service and wonderful staff has made Grill 41 a new favourite.
Having stayed at the Lord Elgin and dined at Grill 41 in the past we decided to put Grill 41 on our short list for New Years. After booking a table months in advance for New Years Eve we were disappointed that Grill 41 were unprepared for a table of 4 as booked (staff arguing about how to accomodate a table of 4 with tables only set for 2 or 6). More to the point, presented a fixed menu that at no time was indicated on the website or reservations. When challenged they provided an alternate New Years menu with very limited options and inflated pricing again, not reflected on the website. To be clear, I expect a level of increase in price at this time but take issue with the unapologetic response implying it was acceptable to impose an alternate reduced selection without disclosure. Based on the disregard for our expressed disappointment, we elected to leave in hopes of finding an alternate last minute option that might be interested in our business. Fortunately, we found another restaurant with space, offering their full menu selection and had a wonderful meal and evening.
This Steakhouse is of poor quality. My wife and I decided we would diner here during our stay at the Lord Elgin. When you think of a hotel level steakhouse I had in mind this would be comparable to the Keg or Milestone at least. Unfortunately, this was not the case. This restaurant (not steakhouse) is comparable to Swiss Chalet with slight worse service. The wait staff spend most of their time sitting in a closed dinning area on their phones. Not a good experience.
Great salad and great surroundings.
Food was amazing and service top notch. Sue was amazing. Thank you Sue for cheese cake was very generous. Make sure they know you are a keeper.
Friendly service, nice place to get your group together.
Fish and Ship is delicious and generous. The Tuna Ahi is also a pure delight.
Staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive. Food needs improvement. I had breakfast here and wished something else was available.
Very poor over priced poorly portioned breakfast. Service team seemed less than welcoming.
Beautiful plating on the steak-frites and good place for a quiet lunch
Had breakfast here too as I was staying at the hotel. Evening meals also on 2 occasions. Food good and very nice service.
I had a truly restorative evening at Grill 41 tonight. Im in Ottawa, staying at the Lord Elgin for work, and after an intense day of meetings and people, dining in at my hotel is a real treat. The food was delicious. The service was excellent!! I tucked into my table with a good book, and my waiter Shahed took perfect care of me. He found the perfect balance of ensuring I had all that I needed while also giving me some quiet time to just enjoy the meal experience. The butternut squash ravioli with duck and mushrooms was very well beyond my expectations. The Caesar salad is delicious with nice chunks of bacon and cheese. And the creme brule...yum! Will certainly return before I depart Ottawa!
We had a wonderful dinner thanks to good food and our server Shahed . We had great service and Shahed was fun to talk to. Thanks
Service was exceptional.
Decent food, hamburger was good but nachos were a little lacking.
I happily stayed at The Lord Elgin hotel over the past view days and had an amazing experience at the grill 41. Sue, the bartender, was amazing and provided the best service. She was nothing but kind, friendly, and efficient. Thank you Sue and the Lord Elgin/Grill 41!
We Stayed at Lord Elgin hotel because they had a this resturant within the premises. Amazing food and friendly staff. Complements to chef as all 4 of us has different meals order and each plate was cooked to perfection! Butternut Squash ravioli with duck bacon., salt and pepper wings , short rib in bourbon sauce and a burger. Great tasting food .
My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Lord Elgin and ended up spending a crazy amount of time and money at Grill 41. And it was worth it. We had breakfast here every day of our stay. The menu options are great, but I recommend the buffet. It has a little of everything. Mostly the service and atmosphere is what drew us. The food is good, but the feel there is like, we felt like we belonged. The morning staff, especially Cristina, were so nice. One waiter said we could stay for four hours if we wanted, get the most out of the buffet. haha Lunch offered another relaxed, delicious experience. I got the Buddha Bowl, a healthy, vegetarian option I enjoyed a lot. For dinner we tried the skillet nachos. We shared one and there was still some wasted, so plentiful portions. Very good as well. And finally in the evening we got drinks from Sumi. The cucumber mule was especially nice and refreshing. Just loved this place.
Great place for an evening drink or dinner.
Food was overcooked. Hamburger was so dry. Steak was not rare.
Service was great. Food was delicious. Our server also brought my girlfriend a desert at no cost, when she found out we were celebrating her birthday.
Very disappointing selection for breakfast. The orange juice tasted weak and the pastries and bread were poor quality. The coffee was OK.
good service, delicious lamb burger Decor is on the dark side and can be noisy. Food
SUE!!!!! best service EVERRRRRR. She was honest, delightful & so so sweet. The food was decent but the service made the experience 10/10! We both share the same birthday and s we shared the cupcakes my friend brought with us and she gave me a slice of cheesecake to bring home. Our group was quite energetic and she really embraced it! Thank you so much Sue!!!
Great lamb burger, Sue was an amazing hostess!
I had such a great time at Grill 41! The food was delicious. I had the Calamari and the Angus burger, I would recommend both. Our waiter Sue was absolutely delightful. She was really kind and such a fun person. She made the night for our group. Thank you Sue!
Great atmosphere, service and food! Shared our waiter was awesome, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Good location, outdated food and not great, feels like your in a sad layover hotel. Don t recommend.
Excellent services...I dont know how cook the fries ..but they are really tasty
Great food and service. But a small menu to choose from. Prices a moderate to high. Service was excellent and timely. Food : 4/5 |
My mom and I came for Mothers Day brunch. We went last year and it was lovely, so our expectations were high. This year there were half as many options. The food they did have was not on par with last years quality, although the price is the same. $135 for 2 people for brunch was just not justified this year. It was not BAD, but just mediocre. Some food was cold. Instead of a prime rib carving station, they had strip loin in a heating dish. It was pre-cut very thin and well done. The mimosa we were offered was actually a Sommersby cranberry vodka drink (maybe 1/4 of a can) with 3 Blueberries added in. Definitely not a mimosa. All in all, a huge disappointment compared to last year and will not be back.
This is the worst restaurant Ive ever been in Ottawa. Egg omlet was dry, egg benedict sauce was too thick, toast was burnt. Not worth $20 per meal. Dont have a brunch in here.
Nice place to eat out . The braised octopus is divine and the lamb burger is very good as well . It was on the noisy side here because one of the table had a dude screaming all the time but zap that one out and it s a nice place to eat .
The restaurant is very good, the menu is simple, not extravagant, but everything is well executed. I had lunch there the 2 days of my stay and I had dinner there once. The quality was always there, the prices are more than reasonable for Ottawa. I would say the only point to improve would be the furniture and the decor being a bit dated, but the food was top quality.
Great experience for this restaurant. I eat there 3 times during my stay at the Elgin Hotel. The menu is sober without extravagance or surprises, however each dish is very well executed and is very good whether for breakfast or dinner. Prices are average for the city. The service is discreet. I will definitely go back there.
My wife ordered the smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese and got FOOD POISONING!!!! Absolutely ridiculous and VERY EXPENSIVE for what you get. Like who charges $20+ for bagels that are mediocre at most WACK. NOTE: It DOESNT come with any sides
Slow service from the bar and evening staff, often ignores customers. The breakfast staff, however, is on point.
Amazing atmosphere, great staff. A hidden gem amongst locals. Would recommend.
We had the Angus Burger, Lamb Burger and the Flatiron Steak. The food was incredible and clean! My mum had the steak and was raving about the bone marrow butter on it..in her words YUMMY!! Sue, who was the most gracious server, recommend some real refreshing cocktails! All in all good service, good food, highly recommend
Food was fine, service very hit and miss. The waiter tried to diddle me when paying and the food was very expensive for what it was
Consistently one of the worst experiences in service Ive ever had. The staff are incredibly rude and aggressive. Unfortunately for me this is the site that hosts the late night jam sessions for the Ottawa Jazz Festival that I like to attend, and I go every night... I felt that the way Ive been treated is extremely short sighted in that Ill be spending money here throughout the course of the week. Oftentimes Ill arrive prior to my friends and will get a table for a small group of 4. Ive offered to make a small donation ($20) in order to hold the table as my friends took about 15mins extra mins to arrive. The staff was badgering me about how rude I was being and that they had a huge line and couldnt hold the table for me. They also said I had to order a drink. I said that I was happy to buy a drink for someone else, or make a donation, but didnt drink myself. My server was adamant that I had to buy something. So I bought a coke which melted on the table throughout the course of the night. I havent even gotten to the food yet which is mediocre at best and EXTREMELY over priced for the quality. Short story long, there is definitely a managerial issue here. If servers are acting this way its because they have no guidance and dont know any better. This place can get really busy and from what I can see from the number of tables, theyre probably running the ship a little short staffed, which Im sure is stressful for the servers. The late night jams are such a staple of the Ottawa jazz fest. Its unfortunate that the magic that happens there needs to be somewhat overshadowed by rude and aggressive staff. Hopeful that someone is going effect some meaningful change soon...
I went here for lunch and was not impressed. First, we were sitting there for a while, then realized that no one was coming around on the patio to take our order, I had to go in and ask the waiter if we can please place our order. As we wanted something quick and healthy, we both ordered what looked like a delicious salad on the menu. When the salad arrived, it was simply some arugula, what looked like large pieces of brownish maybe peaches (I tasted it, and still could not tell), a few whole almonds, and two little pieces of cranberries, and some kind of oily salad dressing. It was in a large bowl and did not look appetizing. We asked for utensils and more salad dressing as the entire thing was too dry. It lacked seasoning, flavour or any kind of creativity (food should also be visually appealing, particularly when one is paying for it). While I do not like to waste food, I could not eat mine (I tried), it tasted too much like eating grass (while I have not ever done so, I posit that must be what it would taste like). As we were leaving, I was looking for someone to pack it up for me, as I was going to take it home and spruce it up. However, no one was to be found and we did not have time to go in to find someone. Therefore $18 (plus tax) wasted. I generally do not like to write such posts, but am doing so in hope that improvements will be made (good customer service is so essential). I called to give the manager some constructive feedback, based on my experience however, she has not yet returned my call. Perhaps salads are not their specialty. Servers are nice, but it takes them a while to come and take your order.
Excellent and plentiful
Good atmosphere but average attention, and we were alone
Very good service and delicious food. The staff is friendly and there is plenty for the kids to do. Good location.
I ordered the crab cake eggs Benny. The arugula salad was a nice change but only one egg was served on the crab cake and English muffin. Perhaps they can make two smaller crab cakes or at least serve the 2nd egg on the other half of the English muffin.
Friendly and very attention wait staff. Food is very good. Recommend it
Outstanding! Excellent portion size, great service. Food was prepared perfectly.
Food. Average at best. Service very very good. My braised beef was Luke warm. How the hell does that happen. Too bad.
If you are looking to have a good time with friends or family and dont want to go to an average restaurant, this is the place to visit. The amount of effort put into the dishes are beyond comprehensible. Wish the staff all the best!
We stayed at the Lord Elgin and decided to try Grill 41. It did not disappoint! Delicious food, friendly staff, and an overall wonderful experience. Special thanks to our server, Sue, who was not only accommodating, but very personable, not to mention hilarious!
I always enjoy the atmosphere here. The service is also incredible, I had a large luggage they helped me with when I came into the restaurant. If youre staying at the hotel, I highly recommend it. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids here with their families. Wheelchair accessibility: Enough space for a wheelchair.
This was my first time at this hotel and this restaurant. I Have to praise their evening and night personnel at the Forty One : Sumi, Kathi, Shahad and Diana were simply amazing and made each of my evening relaxing and perfect! :-_
It is located on the first floor of the hotel. You can enjoy a hearty dinner, or you can have a drink with some snacks. I can eat poutine.
My wife ate here on Saturday Sept 23 at approximately 9PM. For her main course she ordered the salmon. It came out raw, so she sent it back to have it redone, and unfortunately it ended up coming back raw again. This is entirely unacceptable. She ended up getting a salad as she could no longer trust the kitchen to make her meal properly. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are a ton of good options in Ottawa that blow this place out of the water.
A group of us recently traveled to Ottawa for an art exhibition / event. The Lord Elgin was fantastic - centrally located, cleanliness was on point and most importantly, the staff were professional and hospitable. Definitely recommended. Much gratitude to Sue at the hotels Grill 41 restaurant for her above and beyond service.
We were there for Sunday Thanksgiving dinner. We had gone last year and it was very good. This year not so much. Our food was lukewarm to cold. We sent it back and it was still the same temperature. However we sat at the bar and really enjoyed the warm and efficient service from Sumi also known as Sue. We left although disappointed with the food, felt that we still had a good night because of Sumis service.
Underwhelming on all fronts. Limited, boring menu. Hotel lobby atmosphere. Service was decent, I guess.
Great meal and great service.
Food was generally overpriced and uninspired. Went for the cheaper bar menu options, and fryer oil was clearly dirty as the fish was burned on the outside but not overcooked. Keep going down elgin away from parliament, and you will find a ton of better restaurants/options.
Great service, plenty of menu options and excellent quality food. It is a bit pricier but it is a hotel restaurant so this is to be expected. They were also great with special requests! Pictured is the avocado toast (must have) and the fruit cup.
Great place, food was delicious. Service was good but a bit understaffed. Atmosphere was great and very enjoyable. Food : 5/5
Service is crazy.
Wow! Incredible food! Very attentive waiter. SHAHED IS THE MAN! I looked at all the reviews I was wondering how in the hell this place only had 3.6 stars, then I looked at it, every single negative review was from 4 or 5 years ago when they had different management. Dont let this fool you, was a incredible experience with my mother and best friend. Come here you wont regret it. Im a very respected Local Guide, I wont steer you wrong. Delicious food, incredible service and reasonable prices. What more could you want downtown Ottawa at one of the oldest and most prestigious hotels in the city? Come now, Im telling you.
We had high hopes but we we very disappointed. I dont think Ive ever been served spoiled lettuce in a salad before. I guess theres a first time for everything. We also ordered the flat bread which was a pre-cooked (and therefore cold) dough with slices of tomato, bocconcini and rocket. Two stars, because the hamburger was good.
Excellent service, excellent food. The new chef makes it worth putting on your list!
Ive been to the restaurant at the Lord Elgin Hotel many times over my lifetime, and the current incarnation is the best by far. The food was absolutely amazing. The charcuterie board as a starter was perfect. And the linguini with cream mushroom sauce was the best Ive had in a very long time. We tried all of the desserts, and they were all excellent. Go, you wont regret it.
Very cute place to go for a nice dinner. We unfortunately had a limited menu for Valentines day so cant really give an accurate review of the location. However, based on my visit the place was clean, waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food came out at an appropriate pace but keep in mind we were only 3 couples at the restaurant on that day. I will admit that parking situation was inconvenient. I would imagine during the convoy or even on a regular busy day in that area. My dish which was a pasta plate from the chef was tasty and filling. I will say this place is not really suited for random casual dining. The atmosphere is more of a business casual, get-together and dates.
Great food
Great place with awesome atmosphere. Went here after I got engaged and the bartender Sue made it such a special night!
Good food, great service.
Great service. Coconut cream pie was heavenly!
Great food. Loved that food was not salty. Service was excellent
Pretty bad as far as food and service go in a hotel
Bartender Sue is amazing!!! She goes above and beyond to help her customers and is so fun and full of life. FIVE STARS!
WARNING FOOD POISONING. Do not eat here. There was several issues when I came to Grill 41. To start, only one waiter was working which made the wait times ridiculous. I ordered the aged steak Mid Rare. Half of my steak was cooked for my desired temperature and the other half was RAW. I couldn t eat half the steak. The vegetables came out cold on the plate AND they forgot an entire portion of the dish the sweet potato purée which I will say was the highlight. After already complaining about the missing items I figured It just wasn t worth getting my steak recooked so I left it. Later on in the day I threw up and was glued to the toilet seat which I thought was unrelated until the other guests I went with reported the same gastric symptoms I was experiencing. Overall there s no reason to come here. The food isn t good, the service isn t either and the ambiance isn t a selling point. You can find so much more for the same price and that won t make you sick.
I kept coming back for more! The friendly staff, opening hours that were so welcome in the ghost town that is DT Ottawa in the evning before tourist season.
Great place to go for brunch!
Not the very best but pretty close.
Disastrous experience. I booked for 7pm, a family with 3 children. I had called around 3pm from my hotel room at the Lord Edge to do so. The lady I spoke to on the phone seemed to have taken my reservation. When we arrived, no reservation was noted in their system. Waited 30 minutes standing in front of the entrance to get a table. Several other people were waiting behind us. We waited another 30 minutes to place our order. All the waiters seemed overwhelmed. I asked for a refill of water which never arrived. Waited another 45 minutes before deciding to leave the restaurant without having received our order, nor even water. In the end, we found ourselves outside at 8:45 pm hungry and angry, looking for another place to have dinner. Really, I dont recommend it at all.
Grill 41 claims to be a destination restaurant for steak and wine. I was looking forward to the experience and unfortunately left with a sense that it fell short of expectations. For the price, the steak was very average and the wine list less than impressive. The restaurant is conveniently located, but there are other options in the area in terms of overall dining experience.
Fast and friendly service. Great steak.
Ambience is pleasing. Service is somewhat slow with salad coming minutes before main course. No bread unless specifically ordered. The fish (that came with the fish & chips) was dry. Even the home made tartar sauce did not moisten the fish. Waiter was not readily available during the meal. First and last time at Grill 41.
Enjoyed the visit
Serviceable at best. Mediocre food.
This was my second visit. The last time was too long ago to comment on. Today, we were a convocation party of 8. Our servers, Christina and Chris, took good care of us. Sorry, no pics. The lunch menu was small and all the options were very good.
Absolutely wonderful. The staff is pleasant and the food was great.
seriously. it makes no sense how bad this place was, im a garbage can and the salmon bagel was INEDIBLE. I literally eat ANYTHING and the salmon put me in a dark place. Took 45 minutes to get it to add insult to injury. Salmon was plastic and melted together. Holy moly please avoid these lemons.
Food was good . Salmon was done excellent. But the service was extremely poor. The only person who really was keen to make our dinner good was the bartender. The waitresses - one was older lady , the other was young one - never brought what was asked . I had to go to the bar to inquire about our order . The older waitress ignored us like were were some kind of beggers from the street , even though we stayed at the hotel. The bartender went beyond his duties to get our order and bring us food. The chef and the barterner made sure my food was gluten free. I would give 5 stars for that.
The meal was very delicious, the steak was very good.
Such a good bar experience!! My parents often come to Ottawa to visit me here and normally stay at the Westin. Changed it up this time and stayed at the Lord Elgin so we went to the bar for a few drinks. Sue was our bartender and was literally the nicest and most attentive tender Ive had in time!! Shared lots of stories and made us feel like we were the only customers in the building. Also made amazing drinks :) 110% recommended if your passing by and want a drink and some good company.
Great food friendly staff
The food servers and bar tenders were great the food was good but the restaurant needs some house keeping the dust on the blinds is as thick as a piece of paper and if you use US $ in the restaurant you will be cheated because I was told its a dollar US for dollar Canadian so use your credit card but overall its a good place.
Fairly pricey for basic hotel restaurant food, but not necessarily unexpected for the area and the fact that it s a hotel restaurant. Breakfast buffet is pretty solid for $25 but nothing exciting.
Ordinary meals that are definitely not worth the price. Undrinkable cocktail
We celebrated our first born, first birthday at this restaurant since we checked in at Lord Elgin. A small but cozy place. Serves semi-fine dining experience with good quantity and quality of food for it s price
Very friendly staff and great food. A regular place for visitors and some locals. Would definitely come back next trip to Ottawa. Great drinks and great breakfast buffet.
Super beautiful and delicious dishes. Impeccable service. No approach during our visit for dinner yesterday.
Good food but a little steep on the price....
Smart hotel, attentive service but basic food.
I spent 4 days at the hotel with friends. Sue was the absolute best bartender weve had. The drink prices are more than reasonable for a hotel bar. We didnt bother going anywhere else. Thanks for a great time Sue!
Food was good, bill was pricey
Sue was amazing and was super attentive and hospitable. She made me feel welcomed and provided me with great service!
Nice atmosphere
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about Canadas flight history. Excellent display of vintage and historical aircraft. Great to see some very impressive aircraft such as the Lancaster, and Spitfire.
You guys have someone claiming to be YOUR RESTAURANT using YOUR NAMe. Your location etc etc and are ripping people off blatantly. Getting people to order food from them and not delivering it and stealing their money. Uber eats claims that it is verified its your restaurant and that they cannot remove the listing... I would suggest contacting uber eats and having them removed before they begin ruining your reputation and you get lawsuits from people who got ripped off by you and that uber eats said is YOU. They said they cant remove it unless the real restaurant removed it ..
Delicious Fish & Chips! Pair with the Sauvignon Blanc. Youre gonna love it!
Food was awesome. Service was with a smile. Overall very impressed.
Pretty good. A bit sad setting. Correct food
Salmon cooked excellently.
Burger smelled funky, gravy was gross, fish and chips good, waitress was good, quite pricey.
One of the top 5 grills at ottawa
Disappointing experience for Grill 41 despite the quality service and atmosphere. We had a starter of fried squid, which was not spectacular for a small portion at over $20 Then for the meal a very ordinary Burger for $25 and a tiny portion of pesto-tomato-bacon tortelli for $28 which didnt taste very good either. In my opinion, Grill 41 is not worth the detour for the price to pay.
The food which took forever was tasteless and cold. The bartender was the only one that seemed worried providing a good service, but as he was overwhelmed, we couldnt get what we ordered in a reasonable amount of time.
Have you ever experienced a regular dinner service that took 3.5 hours? What about one that had you waiting 1.5 hours for the appetizer which consisted of either a soup or a salad? Neither have we... until this past Thanksgiving dinner. Food was ok, service horrendous, prices on the high side. Reason, as told by our server, we are severely understaffed at the front and the back of the house. Here is my question why would you fill the restaurant to capacity knowing there is no way you can provide a good dining experience for all your customers ? I can only assume the answer is greed and poor management
Untasty meal and too expensive for the taste and quality. No pepper or butter with bread with soups and service from 3-4 hours for a meal including starter, main course and dessert.
Benefits from its good location
Very poor - not recommended. Food took 1 1/4 hours to arrive and when it did it came with an allergy item we had discussed and confirmed they understood, clearly on the burger. Never again.
My husband and I were visiting Ottawa for the Remembrance Day ceremonies and had the opportunity to visit the G41 Grill on two separate evenings. We had the good fortune to have the same server both nights. Kathy L. is. an excellent server and remembered us from our previous visit. She was efficient, pleasant and kind. I happened to mention that my birthday was the next day. When we finished our excellent meal, we were just about to order dessert and she appeared at our table with a slice of birthday cake (complete with candle) for me. I was extremely impressed, and would recommend the G41 Grill to anyone. It is not very often that you are fortunate enough to have such an excellent employee looking after you.
Attentive, and friendly service. Food was well seasoned and prepared.
Absolutely amazing dining experience, service is exceptional - Sue is absolutely magnificent
really good
Not worth the money. Food is poor, atmosphere nothing special. Stuff old Canadian hotel vibe where everything is needless overpriced and terrible. Avoid.
amazing staff! friendly welcoming. very attentive. Food was great served in a timely fashion the private room was amazing . Great for our Christmas diner. It was a bit cold but it did not took away from anything else! Food : 5/5
Had breakfast there today. First time eating here. Nice decor. Staff were kind. Breakfast prices reasonable considering it is an upscale restaurant.
Food was okay, but the server tried to take away my plate twice while there was still food on it. The restaurant was more half empty, so why the annoying rush?
Today I had the opportunity to find this new restaurant. In a few words: great place, great service, amazing food. I had the Salmon lunch special that was served on quinoa & coucous bed. A M A Z I N G!
The meal was excellent.
Super nice Staff, quality food, perfect decor.
Great steak
Friendly staff, comfortable seats and liked the style. Reasonable prices and the food was fine. They serve a good breakfast, loved the fruit bowl with yoghurt.
Best burger I never eat before. Love it.
Best fish chip in downtown
Very clean, welcoming and the customer service is just perfect...
