Burgers & Wine from Lunch to Late Night
Great service, good food. They were understaffed with one person serving and hosting, but they were kind and delightful. The server gave us complimentary drinks and offered us the Happy Hour option, because of the labour shortage (mind you we only waited 10mins). The Burgers were good but the spicy chicken burger was not a soft spicy but a direct hot, pepper sauce spicy. It would have been better of the burger could have been a tolerable and enjoyable level of spice. I would come again to try their other options on the menu.
Amazing customer service. Ali was our server and went above and beyond. We got our food and drinks super quick and he was very friendly and helpful when deciding what to order. There was also a great atmosphere with a dj and music. Will be returning
Portion was rather small in general. The food was also overly season with salt. Especially the “spicy curly fries” which had zero spice just overly salted and the burger was salty especially in the center area. Aside from that, the milkshake is good - vanilla flavored but more so on maple/caramel. The mac n cheese was okay and small portion for the price. They have happy hour menu which reduced price on some items. Also, lunch and dinner menu which may have different options depending on time.
We hosted a corporate cocktail event there 2 days ago for about 70 people, and if you're looking for a great venue look no further. The team was incredible 10/10 and made the planning process extremely easy. The coordinators we were in touch with (Matt and Amanda) were so quick to respond and get things sorted for us as the event was coming together - they brought in cocktail tables and linens for us, candles for the table, and even had beautiful and on-theme plates and trays to carry out the food. They even wore bowties to match our theme. I can't say enough about the team!! So many of the guests commented on how great the staff was (which is really saying something for a corporate cocktail event so many people go to many of these a month, so for this to stand out the way it did is very big and really helps make a memorable event!). A few photos are attached to showcase how well the space can transform from Gburger into whatever you need it to! (also it goes without saying but the food is the BEST! Huge compliments on every item served, and people were leaving with burgers in hand because they loved it so much)
Unfortunately was quite disappointed with the single burger & spicy curly fries. The fries were frighteningly over-seasoned but the seasoning was more acidic tasting than spicy? It was a bizarre combination of spices, in my opinion. The burger just was lacklustre, the cheese was barely melted, it tasted a bit dried out & the burger was lukewarm in temperature. I was really looking forward to it but unfortunately was not satisfactory :/
The worst burger in ottawa; small buns that was burned while trying to warm it ...too sweet for burger ! Dry meat...very salty fries...horrific salad with weird brown dressing . Dead leafs .. ..tooo much time(25m to wait for meal while There are 2 customers in the place( see pic) Dirty floors with fries ...dusty tables ...!
Best burger in town! The burger was juicy. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made for a relaxing dining experience. Good selection of drinks and great view of Elgin street. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving a proper burger.
Ordered for delivery the fried chicken burger and curly fries. Loved everything and the quality of food was great! Only thing I’d change is get the burger with no dill as I’m not a big fan, but it was still good nonetheless.
The burgers and food here are good and offer a unique twist, especially the Gitanes burger and root beer float, which are definitely worth trying for something different. That said, consistency has been an issue over the years, which has unfortunately led to a few disappointing experiences. During a recent dining experience, it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive, which dampened the overall enjoyment of the evening. On another occasion, we ordered takeout burgers for guests visiting from Toronto after a relaxing spa day. Sadly, the burgers were undercooked verging on raw which was both unexpected and disappointing, especially for such a highly regarded spot. While the food can be creative and enjoyable, I hope the restaurant can address these consistency issues to ensure every visit, whether dining in or taking out, meets the high standards they re capable of delivering.
Update: Owner of the restaurant reached out to us and invited us back for a second experience. This time there was no odor of frying beef and the atmosphere was quite nice. There was music playing and candles on the table and I liked that the music wasnt too loud so that we could talk while eating. Our server was fantastic and paid attention to every detail. I dont think he let our water get less than halfway mark without filling it up and he cleaned the tables between servings. We started off with the beet salad which was fantastic. I thought it was almost like someone reinvented the salad to be not a salad! It was delicious. Then we both had the Americanne Burgers. They were also very good with all the works. We paired that with a poutine which was very good. The cheese was so melty I got twelve to fourteen inch of strings going! We topped it off with a banana split which was fantastic. Our total bill was ninety dollars and well worth an evening out. First time: The first thing that struck me was the odor of frying beef, kind of like the exhaust hood was not adequately moving the air over the fryer. The server was very polite, very attentive and did a fantastic job. The menu was a bit limited and, for the price, I was expecting a premium burger. I ordered the single avec Fromage combo and was underwhelmed with the burger: very thin patty, lots of bread and a sauce that was only okay. The fries were thin, crisp and nice, maybe a bit salty. When asked about my food I mentioned my reservations about the burger and the server immediately offered to remove it from my bill. I would definitely give the restaurant another try for the server alone, but would suggest the restaurant focus on serving a premium burger for the premium price they are charging. My daughter had the chicken burger and said it was delicious.
Tastes like A&W teen burger but 17$ with no sides....
Asked for food and didn t get any .. girl was rude said she worked there for a year. Free drinks tho, would go back. But my neck, my back,
I m from out of town (Toronto) and was recommended this spot and it did not disappoint. I had the L Americane !! It was on point
Got a burger, and a curly fry poutine. The burger was good, exactly what youd like from a burger. The curly fry poutine though I didnt enjoy the flavor of. The seasoning they put on the fries contrasted too much with the gravy and it led to a very strange combination that I found unenjoyable. I know Uber is also expensive, but $38 for a poutine, burger, and fountain drink was absurd for the quality & portion size. I wouldnt order delivery here again, maybe its cheaper & better to dine in, but overall I wasnt impressed with the value.
This place is AMAZING. I just had the American burger and a side of fries. Mind blown. Wow. Plus the atmosphere is fun and funky and welcoming.
Love their fries, delicious poutine especially the gravy, and tasty & fresh chicken burger, I ll definitely come back and try more items from their menu!
Went there close to lunch hour and I received great service and very good (which I hear is from local farmers)from the gentleman at the reception (thanks for recommending the curly fries)
I rarely give bad reviews about food just cause I think if a place did something mid then it s not really worth criticism. But in this case I thought I d do a PSA with an honest review of Gburger. I ordered the buttermilk chicken burger, chicken nuggets and apple pie. Nuggets and apple pie were so-so, nothing exceptional but cost 2-3x what it would have cost at Macs and honestly I would have preferred macs. My real gripe though was with the burger - nothing was done right and I was so disappointed since this was an establishment that supposedly specialised in burgers. Starting with the burger buns, they were not buttery / crispy at all. I couldn t tell if they were even charred on the pan - that deprived the burger from a good bite from the get go. Moving on to the slaw (which in fairness to Gburger can be removed upon request), the seasoning just didn t make sense and I couldn t get the direction they were going for. In any event, it simply did not pair well with the chicken. The chicken was done horribly. It was not crispy at all - I m not sure what they did with the batter or the frying but that s not a chicken burger to me. It felt like I was eating mashed potatoes at some point? The chicken patty was also so thin and not juicy. TLDR, save your money and have a burger anywhere else, give this place a pass. I was actually struggling to finish my burger just so I didn t waste the money I had spent on it. The servers were quite nice and friendly tho but that s about it. Postscript: in response to Gburger, with all due respect, my gripe wasn t that it was an upscale chicken burger. It was that it just was not well done . Yes sure the sauce and all may have been carefully curated but there s no point if the chicken isn t even crispy or if it doesn t pair well with the chicken. Also, touting past accomplishments sounds overly defensive rather than a genuine appreciation of a customer s feedback. It s akin to touting one s high school accomplishments in university. Maybe your other burgers taste alright but I do hope you sample your buffalo chicken burger instead of being so defensive.
PLEASE bring back the Wallbanger drink!! Please please please please I ll leave a 5 star review once a day if I must. Me & my friends miss it sm!
Thank you so much Matt. You and your team were impeccable hosts for our event! We heard so many compliments from the food to your space and the incredible service you provide to your guests. Thank you for having us, we will definitely be back
Loved Gitanes burgers so much. Especially the Gitane Burger. 5 stars for the food. I m removing the star for the prices though because compared to Happy Days Burgers in Lansdowne, this one doesn t have the combo option. Means the fries and the drink comes as an option which is a little bit of a downside. The environment is stunning and I have to say it again, the burgers were really good. Don t let the one star that I removed for the price fool you, it s still a magnificent spot. I definitely will come back often just for the Gitane burger. Cheers!
The food was really tasty and our server was nice :) Will definitely be back
Had an amazing vegan burger! Recommend! And Naughty Negroni was
They had a popup at the NCC. Ordered two burgers with no sides. The service was EXTREMELY slow. Felt like they were purposefully being slow. The guy at the front even took like 8 seconds to rip the receipt. Needs serious training. This stuff will kill your business. Not exaggerating, took 50(!!) minutes. I have receipt evidence.
The fries were over seasoned and the burger was really not the best.
What a nice spot! Had the double cheeseburger and curly fries. The cheeseburger was perfect, with nice crust on the patties, perfectly melted cheese, a good amount of sauce, and a nicely toasted bun. The curly fries had just the right amount of spice and paired perfectly with ketchup for some sweet spicy goodness. Will be back for sure! Vegetarian options: Plant based patties available.
Ali was fye
Service was worse ever i have seen in any restaurant.
Kyra was the best waitress I ve had in a long time and believe me I ve been in many many restaurants. Will definitely be returning. Would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks Gburger and Kyra. You are a class act !
Wonderful stuff and perfect meals. Kefeer was super nice and advised me a wonderful wine. Will definitely come back
Tasty food and very nice atmosphere
I had a double vegan cheeseburger, it was so delicious! Zero complaints!
The burger was very bad...not tasty at all And was so expensive Food
This place was perfect before covid but not worth a penny at the moment, they forced me to tip 23 dollars for five tasteless burger under the name of private policy . Think twice before you go there
July 2024 Good burgers with fresh produce. Portions a little lighter than other restaurants tested.
Disappointed that the Montreal Steamy hot dog on menu is really a toastie hot dog. Thin fries did not seem to be fresh cut fries.
Wildly overpriced fast food. It was over $30 for a burger fries and a pop. Thats around the same price as a nice restaurant, for the quality of a fast food chain. Honestly it would have tasted better at most fast food restaurants.
Great food, service, and vibe. Would recommend and come back! Great happy hour food deals.
Options for both meat-eaters and vegans which is great for my dietary restrictions. Due to the location, parking is a challenge. The food was good, but not sure it was worth the price.
I found this place from an IG post about the top 5 burger places... And yet I have no idea why this place was on this list. First off, the food is way over priced, especially considering what you get. I wouldnt go back just for this alone. It cost us almost $70.00 for two burgers, a fry, a poutine and two small pops. Totally overkill. The food was ok, but the burgers essentially tasted like over-salted McDonalds burgers but maybe the slightest bit better, but not by much. On the surface, the place looks clean but the floors are so greasy theyre slippery, the window ledges are littered with old dead bugs and food crumbs. The bathrooms look clean but you can smell them before you even turn the corner to get to them. The service was good.
I just found this place this week. I wish I found it sooner. I didnt know it was so close to home. You guys got me addicted to your chicken burger and fries. I ordered it 3 times this week. Its literally so addicting. I can never find a good chicken burger but you guys are it! Ill probably order a lot more because Im hungry at night and can never find good options but now I found you!
Best buffalo chicken burger I ve ever had!
Slow slow slow
Poutine & chicken nuggets Enough said! Attention to detail is obvious. Good design, branding, and most importantly food.
Burgers, fries, poutine, nuggets - all amazing! Great brand with even better food and service.
Nice place with good staff and location but the food is just not it. The curly fries are overspiced to the nines which masks any flavour there might be. Something like a Popeyes curly fry is a much better fry by comparison imo. The gitans burger was a soggy mess, served in a sauce and meant to be eaten by knife and fork (I assume) but the burger does not hold up to any force to actually cut it. The bun was tough but the meat and cheese is not so while you try and saw through the bun the rest falls apart. I imagine itd be better by hand but I dont particularly want to dip my hands into the plate of sticky sauce to get at it. Didnt taste too bad, but not at all worth going out of your way for. No better than a fast food burger in my mind. Not a bad spot, alot of people like the burgers here but certainly not for me.
I wish I took a picture to explain, but I really didnt believe this place. Unfortunately the reviews are spot on, for better or worse. The service is excellent, atmosphere, very upscale with a massive bar and selection of alcohol to match; likely a byproduct of its location. But then its downscale food alongside chicken nuggets; admittedly done well, so its an unusual feeling, especially at lunch. Me and my partner went and just split a burger, because of the price and Im glad we did. The comparison to a Big Mac for an American is quite fair, bit the sauce and meat is far better quality. Where it lets down, is the miniscule amount of meat, a double patty came at 6mm of beef....pathetic. I finished in three bites. The server unironically said I would need napkins for what was essentially a finger sandwich. The other oddity was the bun was a plain untoasted seasame bun. Why wasnt it toasted? And scrape off *some* of the seaseme if youre skimping on the beef that much - I tasted more seasame than beef! Disappointing. Edit: My suggestion, go to the Waverly. Its up the street, classier, better burger in every way, way more options for other stuff, and turns into a club later in the day if thats your thing.
I ve had almost everything on this menu and I can say confidently that this his a top 2 burger spot on this city!! The regular menu has been rock solid since day 1, and the creative specials that come out are beyond amazing! I love this place, the chef is incredible and the staff is amazing
The DJ s last night made it a really fun vibe! Definitely coming back! (Also, A+ curly fries)
Awesome food, great atmosphere and amazing staff!
This place sucks I ve been waiting 4 hours for my burger
Good morning , went yesterday with my family , good atmosphere..good burgers and chicken ..my only upset was the bread , my 2 sandwiches (bread with sesame ) wasn t fresh
Not bad. The decor is cool. But I find it overpriced for what you are actually getting.
Good but prices are ridiculous. Like actually insane
Best place in town for burgers! The only difficult part was making a choice. Service was too notch, thank you Kyra! We will be back.
Best plant based burger I ever had.
Plant based options were excellent. Atmosphere was meh and prices are on the higher end. Service was excellent, Shannon made it a place worth coming back to. Food
Burgers were mid as hell for the price point. Salty and dry
Update: wait what?! Is this a joke? The veggie burger almost got me thought I was having meat lol Food : 1/5
Atmosphere and people are nice. But to be honest the food is too overpriced. Their double Gburger has the same quality as a Big Mac except its triple the cost. Never going back.
Mamma mia! Perfect place to eat with friends, top service and amazing food and prices ;) Food
Absolute favourite burger spot in the city! Love the service!! I really recommend the double cheese burger and curly fries
Friendly staff, clean, and great view of the street. Burger was flavourful and tasty, the fries crispy. The gravy was rich. Parking is available via Elgin st and aide streets but you will likely have to park further away.
We came here for their New Year s Eve party, and we have a great time. The music they played was great. The staff was so friendly and made sure everyone had a good time. The sparklers at midnight were a cute touch. I hope they continue to do this every year. Happy New Year!
We had lunch here while touring the Nature museum. The burgers taste pretty good. However, it is pricey for a small burger without any sides. The double burger patties are quite thin. The double cheese burger was very small. The mortal kombat arcade game is not functional.
I highly recommend this place! The burger I ordered was juicy and flavorful. As a person who searches for the best food. This is the only one that sticks out from anywhere else I ever been. Best fries too! I hope to come back another day.
Gitanes Burger is incredibly tasty!
The Atmosphere was ok, in a good location with some arcade games to play while you are waiting for the food. The burger I had didn t come with side dish like fries, was big but meat inside was salty so I had hard time to finish it, the service was friendly, but the food is overpriced.
Our fav party trick is ordering the 24 pack of burgers when we have friends over. Really great burgers and so much better than ordering fast food. Great selection of frizzante wine.
Great service!! Kyiv burger is the best burger I have ever eaten!!
One of the most erotic hamburgers Ive ever had.
The chicken burgers slap
Their plant-based items are absolutely delicious. We can t get enough of the unique and flavourful curly fry poutine.
Great service! We were served by very friendly staff :)
Absolutely amazing burgers, and the curly fries a must!! I really like going here, the service is lovely, the food is great, and on Wednesdays they have half priced wine. It s a no-brainer for me.
Great spot and great customer service! Bri, Melanie and Shane were amazing!
I m a big fan of Gitanes and this sister restaurant did not disappoint. Truly the best burger that I ve had in over a decade. When you bite into a burger and you say wow. out loud, it s a place you keep coming back to. Loved the cool, laid back atmosphere. The arcade games are a nice touch. Didn t get to try any cocktails or wine, but will next time. Also the service we had was incredible! Great staff. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly- they have their own dedicated fryer
Great spot on Elgin above the street. Burgers were really good and the spicy fries poutine was out of this world! Nice place for a date or casual hang out
Probably the best burger & fries I ve had, no lie. Everything was perfecttt
Sitting at the hightop looking over Elgin Street, I sat beside a stranger that would soon become my everything. We sat, drank, talked about old times. Oh yeah and the burger that was good too.
Great birgers, suprised on how fancy they were, and the salad was legit...restaurant style crutons and hefty portions. Very accommodating with swaping options in order and good stuff on tap.
Pretty dissapointing experience. We ordered two of their single avec Fromage combo and got a dense bun with a sliver of meat. Im typically a smash burger fan, so I dont mind smaller patties but this was a little outrageous. The bun up over 95% of the sandwich, and the flavour was just not it. The chicken burger and fries were more aligned with our expectations but when youre charging a premium price for a restaurant quality burger, you need to provide restaurant quality food. What we recieved definitely wasnt that.
Delicious burgers! The deep fried chicken burger was alright but I would go with burgers instead. Poutine was delicious! Service was great, super kind and quick. Classic Shirley Temple was good too, just a bit small. Overall a great experience
Great burgers, food was very slow to come out on a Sunday afternoon.
Incredibly slow service on a Sunday afternoon. Orders were coming out from the kitchen not in the order that they were placed. Another couple who arrived after us had ordered, received their food and was paying for their meal by the time our food arrived. Server apologized and said new kitchen staff were in training. Still doesnt make sense when most of the menu is just burgers and fries. Very overpriced for the food portion and quality. Will not eat here again.
Well, my proverbial G-spot to satisfy my burger craving was not hit. I would describe the place as a greasy spoon diner with some fancy cocktails and wine on the menu. There is only one beer on tap, but plenty of bottled and canned ones. I had the single cheeseburger and had to ask for the American Cheese aka Velveeta be replaced with some proper cheddar. Not many toppings on offer, but service and fries were good. The best part of the experience for me was the music playing in the dining area.
Great time. The cocktails were We got their six lil guys deal and holy smokes these single patty slices of mf heaven SLAP no mucking around, we chased those burgies with the curly fries and my life changed for the better, bite by bite. Our server was the super sweet, young Asian chick, thank you for putting up with us, I know we were headaches 13/10 service. dude on bar with the long hair, the drinks were banging bro. I dont even like gin dude, but let me tell you, wtv you made me has me second guessing life. Drinks 12/10 210% Ill be back. Great place, great drinks, great snacks
Great flavours, great service (Cayt), nice decor. Was really looking forward to trying them out, and was finally able to try the Single Fromage and Fish Filet. The burger buns are made daily and taste delicious. For some reason everything I tried reminded me of McDonalds. Their special sauce tasted like Big Mac sauce. The patty was just as thick as well. Which is too bad because the bun is thick so you don t taste the beef patty very much. You can tell the flavour is there, but they need to increase the size of the patty. The Fish Fillet was pretty good. The fish piece was thick, but the horse radish in the sauce was dominant. The fries are also thin style like McD s but not as crispy. Finished the meal with the apple pie. Again it was similar in flavour to the McDonald s apple pies. Unfortunately for those prices, and because they reminded me so much of McD s, I won t be rushing to come back unless there s some revamping of the menu and burgers.
Very cool modern diner spot. Love the interior, and I had their (chicken) Kiev Burger which is both incredibly delicious and some of the money goes toward helping the war effort in Ukraine. It wasn t on their menu so you might have to ask if they re still making them.
I expected a much larger serving for the $42 I paid for 2 cheeseburgers with bacon and a large curly fry. The burger was about the size of a McDonald s mc double with a slightly better quality bun. Thin, ok tasting patties, processed cheese and a tiny McDonald s sized serving of bacon completed this disappointment of a burger. Store bought cooked from frozen curly fries were also subpar. I guess it was too much trouble to put bbq sauce on the burger because it came on the side. Not sure what to eat next because I m actually still hungry!
The saltiest burgers I ve ever had in my life. Service was fine but man, 75$ for two burgers, 1 fries, and 2 drinks? Come on.
Food was decent, but the service is a joke. Ditzy, they made us wait 30 minutes to order when there were only 2 other tables. They messed up 2 our of 4 orders, then charged us for their mistakes (we complained and they took it off). The music was blasting at brunch, we asked to turn it down because we were shouting trying to hear one another. Five minutes later, music was super loud again. In general there seemed to be poor communication between the waitresses. Again, the place was practically empty.
A++
Beat trivia and burger s on Elgin Street
Can I please get one g burger hold the
grace trivia nights are the best night of my entire life - the burgers ans curly fries bang (g burger more like g spot holt jumpin)
Love Thursday night quiz and the burgers!! Best curly fries in town!!
Amazing food, love the desserts, Grace trivia once a month is amazing. You all must come here and experience for yourself!!
A wonderful establishment Highly recommend grace trivia if you aren t a loser
Awesome trivia night with great service and awesome staff! A must in Ottawa.
We love Grace Burger Trivia!
Grace is my sister and I love burgers :)
Trivia with Grace or die!!!!!!
Best plant based burgers in town
Great food, great staff, the best trivia !
Came for their trivia night and had a fantastic time. Their host, Grace, was excellent and the fried chicken sandwich I had was delicious.
Great night out. Super service. Really great trivia.
Great cocktails ( Dusk til Dawn was my favourite), burgers and fun/great staff.
Cute throwback vibes in this little burger joint! Curly fries were AMAZING and the trivia host was hilarious Will definitely be back again!! Vegetarian options: All burgers can be made vegetarian :)
Burgers are certianly good but the Works os better.
Tasty burgers and good service
For a $20 burger, you expect it to be above normal expectations. It has to be said that this was not the case. Curly fries were nice but there was just too much left to be desired from the burger which is the main attraction. At the moment, the only thing that sets itself apart from other burger joints, is the price. I m not asking for a recession proof menu, they re clearly not catering for that group, it just wasn t impressive. Also, i m not sure if it was because we came during the Kentucky derby, but $15 for a Sunsplit IPA tall can is ridiculous.
Ive eaten at GBurger a number of times - both take out and dine in. When they first opened the food was great. Since then, the price has increased while quality has declined. Decided to try them again recently and it was the worst yet. A poutine is $15 for a fairly small portion, fries and gravy tasted as if they had been cooked the day before. Was hoping that they would return to their original level of quality but definitely will not be returning.
Very overpriced, music was insanely loud and service was lack lustre. I didn t feel burgers here were anything better than McDonalds which would ve been way cheaper. Overall I don t recommend eating here it s nothing special.
Becca was absolutely wonderful. Best server in Ottawa. Food was delicious and good price too.
(4.2) classic burger was a lot better than the recommend house Gburger due to the sauce. The price could be a little bit cheaper but the quality is worth the price.
We tried L americaine and double cheese. Both were delicious!! We didn t change the side and it was pretty good.
Great ambiance, service and food! Lovely spot to treat yourself and have a causal get together with friends. Hands down the Gitanes burger was my favorite! Kid-friendliness: Yes
Disappointed. I visited this place for dinner. it is part of the fast food category, except that you have the possibility of serving alcohol during the day at midday. I was not impressed either by the service (no courtesy) or by the quality of the food (fast food, only much more expensive than what you find around the corner). The menu came with an additional list for drinks, which seems odd because I was with family and minor children, and we were still talking about midday. Even if the tables are clean, the floor leaves something to be desired - its sticky...
Waited 30 minutes for a burger that never came. Maybe its a delicious burger, but no way is it worth a 30 minute wait. I genuinely wish you guys the best because it seems like a decent place, but if youre going to focus more on the bar side of things than the food side, drop the food altogether
Music was fairly loud, the Gitanes burger was good but the drink prices are actually criminal. $15 for a tall can of Sunsplit?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! My brother hadnt noticed the price until after hed ordered it and was in hilarious disbelief, as were all of us. Doubt wed come back as we would probably go to a place that has good food and more reasonable drink options
An absolutely amazing place to chill after a long day at work or to come hang out with friends on a Saturday night! A staple for Elgin street food and/or drinks!
Very nice place with delicious burgers and a variety of alcohol, from beer and young local wine to a variety of cocktails and whiskeys. Excited the burgers could be customised accordingly to the mood and spirit of a day :) For example, I can order a super hearty L Americaine with a freshly prepared brioche bun, as well as gluten-free or lettuce wrap. Was curious to try the same burger but vegan, had to share it with my husband, because it was so huge and tasty. I can also recommend the burger with fish fillet and of course the signature and super juicy Gitanes Burger - my favourite for sure. Romaine Heart Caesar is always both in the morning and at any time of the day. I definitely recommend this place
The hotdog is surprisingly good!! Actually my favorite out of everything we ordered. Gitanes was great, creative, tasting great the first few bites. But I had to admit that I don t like it that much when it becomes soaky. Salad was fantastic. Chicken nuggets were okay, very dense. The decoration of the store is my favorite- a little retro looking - perfect color matching.
I forgot to take a photo this place is amazingly delicious! The burgers and gravy are just tried the apple pie got dem knees weak!
Ive never seen burgers this small... 40 dollars for two menus with burgers the size of a childrens menu burger, never seen before! And what s more, we didn t like the burgers.
Delightful customer service that paid attention to our allergies but the burgers simply tasted bad. The veggie burger especially tastes like cat food and mayo. Fries are okay but really small (not the portions but the fries themselves). Prices are steep for what u get
They have freshly made from scratch burgers, sandwich, nuggets, etc. Its slightly expensive compared to other fast-food restaurant but the quality of food is good. Its worth the money.
Great place for well-priced casual eats. Amazing burgers and curly fries - one of Ottawas best burger and fries joints. Very gluten-free/Celiac friendly. Staff are all well-informed. Very good service every time I go. Dietary restrictions: gluten free friendly celiac friendly
Its all good! Good ingredients, good service, good dessert!
Great service throughout the night ! Food was good.
Slightly better than McDonalds and almost twice as expensive.
Super cute spot with decent veg options! I had the vegan fried chkn sandwich and some spicy curly fries - yummy and filling. Love the interior!
Amazing. No complaints you get what you pay for. Highly recommend one of the best burgers in the city.
Ask for Melissa, incredible server/somm/person all in all. She knows whats up with the menu, with the food scene in Ottawa. Dont lose her. Nuggets are kinda bland/ underwhelming, fries are great. Burgers are next level.
$20 for a double cheese that is smaller than a McDouble. Taste wasn t good , two slim Patties between a grocery store style dry bun. Plan to eat elsewhere after
Cool vibe with a diner feel that has hip seating area with a few arcades. Enjoyed l americaine and single fromages. No chicken nuggets available but would definitely go back.
Overall it was a good experience! For $40 pre tip I do wish the meals came with a drink. Definitely a step up from McDonalds despite how some others feel. The regular bun was delicious but the gluten free bun was on the tougher side so didn t finish. We did really appreciate the care directed towards those with Celiac rather than just gluten intolerence! (: The service was quick too Some places charge $5+ for a gf bun substitute so was really happy to see this wasn t the case here despite the texture. I d recommend other Celiacs dine here
This is one tasty burger. Fed my crew of six with a 12-pack of the Lil Guy Burger. Dijonaise sauce, pickles and onions mashed one tasty burger experience. Order a batch of regular and curly spicy fries to go with it. Service was outstanding. Fully licensed with wine, beer and cocktail options. Will be going back for sure!
I got the single and the patty was thinner than a happy meal burger yet the bun was much thicker. All I could tatse was bread. I wish the waiter would have warned me and advised me to get a double. The price for a single is high for what you get. At least the fries were great. If I do give it another try, I will definitely go for a multiple patty option.
Came for trivia night and had a blast! Love the array of plant-based options. Service was bubbly, atmosphere was a fun vibe. Food : 5/5
My favourite casual spot in the city. The best nuggets, and some of the best burgers hands down! Always fun cocktails that taste amazing, and a great selection of wine. Half priced wine Wednesdays can t be beat. The staff is always so fun and sweet too. I wish everyone in the city knew how underrated this place is!
Cozy and tasty! Nice and friendly staff. Burgers were delicious! They made an Aperol spritz for us even it s not in menu:) Recommended dishes
The food was wonderful. FYI...Always order the large fries, trust me on this!!
I just paid 70 dollars for nothing no test
My buddy and I went to Gburger for dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was fast and friendly, the food delicious and the atmosphere was fun. I am definitely going back for more!
This restaurant cares about walk in customers only but they have no care for on-line customers. They should realize that on-line customers are also valued customers rather they pay premium price for their items (Walk in price and online price are not same). Even when you go there at the front reception, itd be you shear luck to get any attention from any staffs especially, if someone is there to pick up they would pretend that they didnt see you just to avoid any extra work. You just stand there as if youre in a camp waiting to get some food. If youre are a delivery person and see any order from this restaurant, just decline it because your self respect is more important than money. These guys forget that they were survived by online orders during COVID..
Everything about the place was amazing! Food service and atmosphere.
The burgers here are great (comparable to a few other establishments in Ottawa) and I liked the fact that it is good quality meat. HOWEVER, the price of alcohol and our overall bill made it so it was not worth it. A pitcher of house lager? $37. A tall can of Dominion City? $13! Our bill included two burgers and a pitcher of beer and it was $89 before taxes. Absolutely insane and the price was not worth it. Also, our fries were cold. Will not be returning.
Burger and fries were fantastic, very tasty. Portions are a little small but the quality and the taste are good. The arcade games inside are a nice touch.
Incredibly delicious burgers. Great staff. For sure worth a visit.
Their Lil Guy burger is still legit as always! Decided to try the new fusion borscht instead of fries this time and, man, totally worth it! It is tender, veggie-packed with a bacon add-on. Just as the winter thing to warm up with before diving into the main course. Yummy!
Delivery peoples time is not valued
The food is excellent! Very friendly service too. You have to go!
Great friendly service and food
I ordered the lil guy and nuggets and everything was excessively salty, salty to the point where the otherwise decent flavour was drowned out. There s potential, and the burger was well cooked, but the salt levels need to be toned down significantly for it to be palatable.
Great burgers, great fries. We had a complicated orde with veggie and meat burgers, gluten free and regular buns, lettuce wrap, poutine, pommes frites, curly fries, and they got it all right, and it was all excellent. Well definitely be back!
I use to like their burgers but I m not sure what happened but this isn t the same spot I once remembered. Not to mention expensive. Took a friend visiting from Newfoundland but we were so disappointed. We both ordered the Gitanes burger pictured below. The most disgusting burger I ever had and I wish I was exaggerating, waste of calories. So much cheese in it, and then the sweet maple sauce or whatever that s put in the burger and on your plate below the burger yuck. The sauce gets your hands all messy and sticky and for what? A terrible tasting burger. Even if you get the chicken burger or one that s okay it s still overpriced. I think I once paid $45 for 2 burgers and one set of curly fries with my partner lol. Daylight robbery, please avoid. Many better burger spots in Ottawa.
Good burgers. Unique taste!
The Gitanes burger and spicy curly fries are really the only thing I ever get here. There is simply nothing else like it in the city and it is a wonderful burger experience in a pretty crowded market already.
service is fantastic (Lena and Jake are amazing), food is incredible (plant based options are unreal) chef Matt is the best, if I could live here I would.
The staff are literally the nicest people in any restaurant I ve ever been. The warm welcome and friendly conversations are full of humor and great vibes. Lena, Jake, and Lo are nothing short of perfection. That being said, the food is immaculate.
The best vibes and plant based burgers (ever). It feels like you re just hanging out with your friends here. Consider yourself blessed if you re served by Jake or Lena!
Great food and a wonderful atmosphere!
Follow my food blog on Instagram for restaurant reviews: @mimi.munches! Sometimes I crave a cheat meal, and its usually one of poutine, burgers, or fried chicken - Gburger happens to serve all three! I went recently and had a great time sitting at the bar and seeing the partially open kitchen in action! The menu items featured here are: Gitanes Burger ($14): Époisses cheese, charred and pickled red onion, aioli, bordelaise - such a classic! I had this before at Gitanes, and found it very indulgent. Definitely hits the spot for a burger craving! Fried chicken sandwich ($13.50): buffalo sauce, ranch, radish and dill slaw, pickles - this was a treat, with a large piece of fried chicken. I love when the meat is larger than the bun! Spicy curly fries ($7.50): SUCH a nostalgic item for me. I would always get this back in my high school cafeteria with friends. The spice mix on this is really flavourful! Poutine ($11.50): Whenever there is poutine on the menu, I cant resist trying it. This was a simple, classic version. Root Beer Float ($8, non-alcoholic): such a classic! I love that use a metal straw and put a maraschino cherry on top. Tooth & Nail Fortitude Stout ($8, beer): easy-drinking and goes well with indulgent foods.
Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Came here for the first time and the food was excellent. Came a second time and the food was still good but not as amazing.
Gitanes burger was DELICIOUS! I also tried the curly fries! Ill be back again
Gitanes Burger makes one of the finest Vegan burgers in Ottawa. This was one of my favourite venues to visit after a long night out on Elgin Street. Admittedly, I have been known to stumble over here all the way Byward market, if the weather is nice. I like to double up and order the PB lil guy and the PB lil Chicken. Together they form a lethal combo with both sandwiches proving to be delicious. My only complaint is that I have snuck over here a few times around 1 AM and the store has been closed. I can not blame them for that though because, they have to go to sleep eventually too. I would also like to shoutout the staff who have been pleasant and hardworking on every occasion I was there. They are always happy to humour my light banter in my state of innebriation. If you want to avoid a severe hangover, head to Gitanes Burger before you finish your evening.
We had a gorgeous patio night out at Gburger! The server was super nice and the patio is really cute with the lights and pink paint. I had the Gitanes Burger and my partner had the Fish Sandwich and they were both delicious. A little too saucy for my taste but it was still wonderful.
I ve had G Burger a few times now through UberEats all of which were of great taste and value. I stopped in for the first time during a event with the Almont butcher shop where they had a special menu featuring sausages and lamb burgers. When spending $19 for a burger you kind of assumed that it would come with fries but in this case it didn t so I was a bit disappointed on the value of my meal. That being said everything still tasted amazing and the service was great but I think one possible change would be the value of what you get. I would definitely recommend but there are spots in town that you can get more for your money.
Rad spot, killer burgers and beer!
Great find! Very close to the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Gitane Burger is just crazy good! Eat with a knife and fork because it is very juicy! Have some fries with that, they are excellent! We also ordered a double cheese and chicken croquettes for the children and everything was excellent!
The vegan burger is delicious, its salty and grease like McDonalds non vegan burgers so I get my fix! The price is expensive and the burgers are very small tho so I docked a star
Hands down the best burger place I ve been to in Ottawa. Our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The Americaine burger with plant-based patties and bacon was so flavourful, and the bun was crispy and fluffy. The fried chicken burger had a great dill flavour to it. I also love that they have several non-alcoholic beer options.
Well good burger and vegan tomato VERY Small portion tempeh 1 piece cut in half what a disappointment and the best part is we waited for our order for 38 minutes WHY because the party of 6 that came in after us was served first
Great food, safe for celiacs, but a little expensive for regular meals out. The burger and fries itself taste exactly like youd expect: just a higher end burger. Delicious ingredients, well prepared, cant beat this place if you just want a good burger.
At full restaurant/bar prices, three burgers, three drinks, and two sides cost us about $100. We did not get a $100 experience. The service was worse than disappointing; it was inadequate. Our server completely mismanaged her timing and ignored us. We arrived about 25 minutes before a very obvious and easily predicted rush the Capital Pride parade was about 3/4 finished. There was no one in the restaurant when we sat down, a perfect opportunity for our server to deal with us efficiently and have us out before the rush. Our drinks took nearly 20 minutes and our server didn t take our food order until after the rush hit. When I looked around to see where our drinks were, it was clear she wasn t busy with other tables. We ordered and let our server know we were on a tight timeline to get to the airport, and told her exactly when we needed to leave. She said the timing would be tight given the rush, so we offered the solution (she did no problem solving at all) of packing up our food to go if we reached our time to leave. A competent server would have checked it at the time we said we needed to leave, with takeout containers and our bill in hand. Another 10-15 minutes later (much faster than we got our drinks), our server dropped off the food and proceeded to ignore us from that point on. We ordered poutine and received no utensils, so we couldn t eat it. She never checked to find out how the food was. It was already past time to leave, so we ate quickly, then bussed our own dishes hoping someone would notice and bring the bill. When no one responded, first we stood up, obviously waiting for our bill, but again, nothing. We went up to the counter, asked for a lid to take the poutine with us, and finally the hostess got us our bill. Our server never so much as made eye contact. Nor did she ask another server to take over, which would have been the next reasonable step given that there were at least 4 staff on the floor. Elevated fast food in a restaurant setting creates certain expectations the efficiency and reliability of fast food combined with the elevated experience of restaurant service. I worked in fine dining for 5 years, which makes me a very forgiving guest. So it takes a lot for me to say that while I ve been a long term supporter of Gburger, I don t think I ll be able to go back after this.
Food and service was really good! Was here late at night, just making the cut off for their regular menu. Based on the recommendation from the server I got the fried chicken burger. It was crispy, flavourful, and well cooked. The servers were also very polite and the service was fast.
Wow, i did a double take when i tried the veggie option american burger because i thought it had meat in it! Amazing, 10/10 delicious and those spicy curly fries poutine were to DIE for the waitress was so sweet and attentive, I really enjoyed going to this place! Was an awesome place for a date
Super overrated. The server Chris was doing a great job. Other than that, The burgers were below par, from flavours, to juiciness to textures The Gitane Burger was ridiculous, the bun would get soggy. The bun is not that good even before getting soggy , in seconds with the sauce they use. We waited for almost an hour for 2 burgers and they weren t even busy. Prices were fair though
Outstanding burgers, fries, chicken and fish. Never disappoints.
Overrated, overpriced. The restaurant was not very clean, the service ok and the food a big b...
Late night snack. Had the vegan Américaine. Realized after that they put fakon when you order it vegan. I usually only replace the beef. But the burger was amazing!! All he flavors were balanced and everything fit together! Loved it Vegetarian options: You can veganize your burger
Incredible place , such good options for meat eaters and vegans alike.
Best vegan burger I ve had so far, friendly staff and nice decor
I waited for 20 min and no one served me. Plus theres a brick standing outside of the door, I bumped into it and hurt my leg. WHY PUT A BRICK OUTSIDE OF YOUR DOOR?
Amazing burgers, very nice setting and atmosphere!
We came here last weekend for my FIL s birthday because he loves burgers. The burgers did not disappoint- we had the Américaine and Gitanes. We also ordered the spicy curly fries (totally recommend) and poutine. Food was delicious, service was great- our server came around several times to ensure we had everything and was exceptionally courteous. I had emailed earlier that week looking to make reservations and they responded in a timely manner and were gracious. Would recommend and we ll definitely be back!
Service was good, but the food is less than enjoyable. Wheres the beef?? There were four of us and when the burgers arrived we were wondering if maybe they were low on meat. Wish I took a picture! The patty was the size of one in a big mac (one patty in the mac) and the flavours were no where to be found. Definitely not worth the money. $160 for a snack (manly bread) at best.
The place looks nice, but food pricing is very dubious. Got their onion soup dip (after being told by a server that its a big plate to share) only to see a plate of perhaps 150 ml of dip (probably less) with a tiny plate of veggies and 6-7 Ritz crackers. Sorry, but some onions blitzed with maybe 20 g of cheese just cant cost 18 bucks! Even with three endive leaves on the side.
I guess looks can be deceiving! When I first saw my veggie burger I thought it looked small and, if I am being honest, overpriced. Disappointed about the size and expecting the burger to be just OK, I took a bite and . . . wow, it was delicious. Same for the geen salad that I ordered. By the end of the meal my mood had changed and I was a happy customer. Bottom Line: With delicious food, cool setting (I really liked the arcade games), and tasty vegetarian options, I would definitely come back. Vegetarian options: They have green salad, as well as a few veggie burger options on the menu.
I ordered the double cheese and it was delicious! The curly fries were great as well and not overly spicy. One of the best patties Ive ever had. It was legitimately cooked to perfection with a slightly hard outside and a very soft inside. The service was quick and friendly. However, I thought that $8 for 12.5 oz of a lager was a bit of a strange price-point, and while there were a huge amount of beer options from bottles/cans, having only one tap option, with no full pint, leaves a lot to be desired. The decor and overall look and feel of Gburger was fantastic, although the TVs and what was playing on them took a little bit away from the experience in my opinion. Id love to return another time and see if the beer on tap has improved! Cheers
First time in today. Did takeout with l Americain burger. It was awesome. Perfect. Delicious. A thank you to Sarah for being so pleasant and helpful. I will be back
Very underwhelming and overpriced. The menu looks interesting and most dishes look promising but sadly, they did not live up to the hype. Most of our food was cold and undercooked. Burger wasnt terrible but would not recommend getting anything else. Apps were incredibly disappointing. Probably wont go back.
Food was wonderful and the ambience of the restaurant was incredible! Shane gave us an exceptional experience at this restaurant! Overall is definitely a 5/5 experience.
Great for a late night bite! Servers are chill, atmosphere is hip, plenty of vegan options. Food is on the salty side and comes in plastic packaging.
The very best I have tried. But please bring back the ice cream sandwich, its been ages and it was the best Ive had my entire life, no joke.
