LOCAL Public Eatery Lansdowne in Ottawa

Lunch at The Local was a win! Our waiter was awesome and attentive, and the food was on point. I had The Local burger - flavourful patties, bacon, cheese .ah. Side of Ceasar salad and the fries were yum. Only two minor complaints: the virgin Caesar was a bit meh (I mean, I know its virgin, but still...). I wish it has some spicy beans or something to make it more fun. And sitting by the door meant we got to experience the full force of winter every time someone walked in. Oh, and parking at Lansdowne? 20$ for a couple hours. Overall, The Local is a great spot for a casual lunch. Just dont forget your coat.

Fantastic food, drinks, atmosphere and service! Been to Local Lansdowne dozens of times and I ve never left disappointed. Management staff (Jamee) always makes our visits welcoming. Get the local burger, ramen, fish tacos or curry. All 10/10 dishes.

Came in tonight just after 6pm left name and we waited around over 40mins (was told 15-20) we then finally at 6:50pm got seated then waited around watching others that just got seated get food and drinks (7:05-:10) we decided to leave told front end staff. Completely unprofessional and after waiting so long were left hungry still and looking for answers why this happens. Music very loud as well cant even have conversations with it blaring in the background.

Local is always an amazing time ! From the managers down to the servers to the hosts to the bar! Gino at the host desk made sure he did everything possible to make sure we were seated and was accommodating the whole way, Mike on the bar took care of me and my girlfriend for the night and made sure we had the best service possible. While the managers Jamee and Bella checked up on us the whole night to make sure we were satisfied with everything and of course we were ! Great music and a great vibe, 10/10 recommend.

My family and I came to Ottawa from Sudbury to watch the Ottawa Charge game. We stopped in at Local Landsdowne for dinner before the game. There was a small wait so they let us sit at the bar to grab a quick drink. Our bartender Justin was amazing. Made us feel right at home. The food was also AMAZING and the manager Bella frequently checked on us to make sure everything was up to standard. A+ service. Will definitely be coming back!

Its a great place and its always busy in family oriented during the day and early evening. Sometimes its so busy its small things are missed like water however the majority of the items come quickly and correctly. Highly recommend in a situated in a really cool part of town in the Lansdowne Park and also has an outdoor bocce ball and the patio thats massive that is great for people watching on weekend or at night. The food is always great and looks good but they should mix it up a little bit more . But we will definitely go back and have been for years.

Great vibe in a central location. Staff is good and the burgers are effective. Good beer selection. The combination of the location, atmosphere, outdoor seating and overall food make this a top spot for anyone going to lansdowne.

The bowls were super expensive with just three small pieces of tofu as protein. I order the tuna poke rice bowl (comes with tofu) but being a vegetarian, I told them to replace tuna with as much tofu possible but they did not add it, neither they reduced the price for the bowl. Taste and vibe was great but cannot justify the higher price.

I recently ate at Local, and I must say, the service was outstanding. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. Our server, Kiera, was attentive and expertly guided us through the menu and offering excellent recommendations based on our tastes.

Update: We met another great server yesterday: Lindsay (from behind the bar). She was attentive without being over-attentive, friendly and genuine, and when we did want anything, she was quick to arrive to our table. A great staff member! Weve been coming here for years, and its a consistently great vibe. Samantha (Sam) is a complete professional, always quick to attend but also not hovering over us too much. She has a great personality and is really the face of Local for us.

Food was incredibly salty, service was good management was appalling. Sat outside in cold weather to start was told we would be moved in ASAP. Was not as other groups were sat inside without wait. Only was sat inside after coming in with my child who was too cold to wait outside any longer . Management blamed the hosts despite there being a note on the wait list clearly stating we were to be moved inside . Not impressed at all. Won t be back can t recommend. Thanks but no thanks for the free icecream dish to share with 4 other people .

I was at Local with a friend last week. We were both so impressed by our server (Lindsay the Bartender) that I feel compelled to leave a comment. We told Lindsay that we wanted to chat before ordering food, and she left us alone respecting our conversation. That said, drinks kept appearing whenever my soda got low (and lets face it, that doesnt give a server any extra tip). When we were ready to order, Lindsay was friendly, fast and efficient. She made our lunch a very pleasant experience.

Stopped in for drinks after a concert at Landsdowne. Our server Starr was outstanding! She was so friendly, personable and attentive. A great asset to this establishment.

Popped in today for the first time. Genuine welcom from hostess, we were seated in less than 1 minute. Ordered edamame to start.. delicious chili garlic dressing. Home made veggie burger, super fresh salad. Spouse had diablo burger and he enjoyed it very much with the Caesar salad. Good sized portions. Our server Lilly was amazing, genuine smiles, efficient and attentive. Several times during our visit asking if everything was ok, also taking time to connect with us re decor, menu, etc. nothing was too much trouble. We will make this a place to visit it again. Also the other servers who came to our table were lovely, but I didnt get their names. Lilly is a credit to your team. Thankyou Vegetarian options: Veggie burger and edamame beans great

I booked a table of 15 for a friends birthday, and from start to finish, it was an incredible experience! Lily, the manager, greeted us at the door with a warm welcome and checked in on us several times throughout the night. Over-hyped, I didnt like the food at all. Average service and still expecting a minimum tip of 20%, prices are expensive and dont justify the portion size. Even the drinks are meh, we went in a group of 10-12 people and nobody liked the food or drinks. Never going back again!

OK, final straw. Enough is enough. It s called local public eatery. But really it s just a sports bar. I frequent this place regularly. Decided it was a great place to celebrate my 60th birthday. Got there at 4pm had a couple of bottles of wine. The rest of my guess we re also drinking. Coming around 8 o clock think maybe it s time to eat. And the football game comes on full blast. I could understand if it was a local football game. But it s preseason game in Brazil Now I m home ordering Uber eats and I will not return if you re a sports bar advertise it as that. But you say you re a local eatery. If that s not enough once I m home. I get a call from my guests telling me that they ve been asked to leave the table that they ve been sitting at for four hours so a bigger group could sit there. My husband myself and his four friends sitting with him have been going to that bar since the day it opened. Despicable

Awful service. 2 beers unavailable on tap (the only 2 that are not lagers or ipa). Disgusting Caesars (can see right through them, no taste, basically a splash of Clamato on ice). Errors on orders (ordered drinks only on an unoccupied afternoon; can only imagine the wreck it would be during a busy dinner rush). Should have gone elsewhere.

Local is a wonderful restaurant in Lansdowne with great food and great service. One of the managers Bella is always eager to help us with accommodating our larger groups! We spend a lot of time at the restaurant before and after Redblacks games and even during their busiest hours Bella and her staff are always kind and attentive to whatever we need! 10/10 recommend checking this place out! Since google doesn t let me select it as an option I also have to rave about the best item on their menu which is the chicken quesadilla!! Chefs kiss!! Kid-friendliness: When the weather is nice they have outdoor games on the patio that the kids enjoy! They also have booster seats available for younger kids that even work for their taller tables

The chicken wings were horrible. Staff was rude and never came to check on us and not welcoming at all and felt very uncomfortable and had to leave as soon as we finished eating because of how uncomfortable it was. I am not the kind of person to write reviews but this was the first time ever that i experienced such horrible and most uncomfortable service. Will never return here again. My go to spot for pre work meals, or solid proper food. Had the pulled pork pasta 15/10 asked the server for the name of the chef. Massive shout out to NOLAN in the BOH, and always a phenomenal experience sitting at the bar tops!

Breathtaking experience! Where do i even start, the second I walked into the establishment I was welcomed with an open heart by Margo. I always felt incredibly welcomed and comfortable during my stay. The service provided by Margo was truly spectacular and I had all my needs filled. Of course it was a Sunday and everyone knows on Sunday you come for football and what can I say Margo helped me cook up a lethal 8 leg parlay. This parlay won me over 12,000$ and started my childrens college fund! Truly remarkable my children will always be reminded at dinner during prayer to thank Margo for her efforts on my parlays which are putting them through college! :) Im simply lost for words for how grateful I am that someone like Margo works here truly a blessing!

September the 12th, myself and two other friends were greeted kindly by a hostess who brought us to a clean table. Our server that nightvwas Starr, full of enthusiasm and professionalism looked after us drink wise and food wise. Even when bartender gave ne a crappy double vodka in lieu of my double grey goose Starr got me the drink I originally ordered. I would recommend the Local Public Eatery to everyone. If your lucky enough to get Starr all the better.

I had drinks my friend and I and we ordered the nachos with guac which was an extra 7 dollars on top of $20 for the nachos. We literally were there for over an hour. We only asked for a drink one time we saw a server on there cell phone and no other servers around to serve, we finally had a service show after an hour to our table and we explained the nachos were so salty that they were not edible . We had both eaten maybe 4 nachos each and it was so salty you couldn t eat it. It was disgusting and the server literally just said sorry they didn t offer a refund, or anything to make up for the fact that the food was served over salted or way over seasoned where it wasn t edible and the fact that we hadn t received service and the waiters kept changing and that we could see servers on their cell phone honestly, super disappointed I ve always received pretty good service but tonight it was terrible We ended up actually chatting to the table before us. We sat there for 20 minutes with no service as well as you could look over and see a server on our cell phone texting.. just unacceptable. I ve been a server and that s just horrible service.

My brothers cousin and I came here for dinner Sunday. Lilly was our server. Absolutely fantastic. She was knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. My brother ordered a drink that Lilly had steered me away from. I tried it and she was right. Not for me. She suggested a burger for me. Perfection! And yes of course she was super friendly. The local burger is really good but the fries are too salty, ask for no salt on the fries. The diablo burger is good too if you can handle some spice.

I ordered the signature burger. I was feeling really down. Although the food was good, it was not excellent. The atmosphere was amazing, and it was the perfect pick me up. I was really happy I came here. After my meal I felt much better. Based on my experience this is a definitely a go to place to have a nice meal and watch some sports and have an overall good experience. I recommend that you go her at least once.

Overall, The Local earns high marks for its ambiance and exceptional service, receiving an 8/10. The food and drinks, while enjoyable, could benefit from some refinement, scoring a 5/10. Livs outstanding service deserves an off-the-charts 11/10 rating. If youre seeking a trendy spot with superb service in Lansdowne, The Local promises a memorable outing despite minor culinary quirks. I will be trying this place again next weekend to see if anything has changed.

Went for a birthday, requested a reservation a few days before for the patio. Was informed that they don t take patio reservations, but would make note. The staff managed to accommodate the request on a very busy day which was amazing. Service staff was friendly and fast. Food was on point. Given the variety of menu styles, I am impressed they seemed to execute everything at a high level.

I havent seen people work so fast under pressure. The bar is always busy, and they always manage to look around to ensure great service was provided. Also, Zoe, great work. She helped when staff needed the support. Great job, everyone. You all need to be rewarded. Let me just say this, if I had a bar I would offer you a job on the spot. Food is oki, my family have been going for yearssss but there is this waitress who we ve had a real terrible experiences with:/ she has a high bun in and tattoos and is a little older. I am 19 so when out with my parents I ordered a beer didn t get ID by our waitrees. Whatever, I ve been here multiple times and have ordered a drink before. They know us essentially. The bun lady makes our waitress go back to our table to ID me, our server is clearly embarrassed. Again, whatever, I get it. But bun lady is constantly whispering to her co workers and glaring at me and my parents. This happens MULTIPLE times after this experience and it really seems like this waitress has something against me? Not sure but definitely not a great experience being continuously harassed by her. Best believe we have told frequent goers to local to stay away! Sorry!

The fish tacos, pinche beef tacos, and peanut butter cups are fabulous! We are always so happy when Liliane/Lily is our server. We have come many times with various family members and friends, and she remembers our faces and what our favorites are. She is friendly, kind and consistently gives the best service. She is a bright ray of sunshine, and we will be sure we ask to be seated in her section every time we come. Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs to the dining room nor to the washrooms which is great.

Our server Hannah B was so much fun. She made the experience almost as good as the spicy guava margs!

We came here unexpectedly as our original plans did not work. Bella (and others) was amazing at welcoming us and taking care of us. We are celiac and they accommodated our gluten free restrictions and have a dedicated fryer! The service was amazing. Food was very good and filling. It is a loud place so keep that in mind if you are looking to talk to the person you are with. I have no issues with high tables but they could use more that seat small groups. We were placed at a long high table and there were people on both sides making it feel less private. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options

Exceptional service and delicious food! We were kindly served by Brook who helped us settle on some fantastic nachos and perogies before our meals. It is not the nicest furnished restaurant Ive been to but the service from our server more than made up for it.

We always love eating at Local, and Lia made our experience exceptionally great tonight! Not only was the food great, but her service was flawless. Well be back all summer!

My place

Went to the Local s patio with two friends early this afternoon. They were fairly busy, but we noticed everyone around us was being brought water/served despite having sat after us. After about 20 minutes and flagging down a server we were brought waters. Our server continuously asked us for our names which we initially assumed was for our bills but throughout the interaction kept repeating our names to the point of discomfort. We ordered an app, some drinks, and an entree each. After eating about half of our loaded potatoes our server came by and placed the plate that was on the table right on top of our food and I explained that we were not done eating. She then took the plate off and expected us to keep eating it after a dirty plate was on it. She also never apologized and stated that we looked done . Later she came by with our meals, once again repeating our names and bringing up parts of our conversation amongst ourselves which again was uncomfortable. Later she came to collect her plates and made several body shaming comments to me including you ate that really fast, are you sure you don t want to lick this plate and you must still be hungry . The experience was uncomfortable for the three of us and frankly pretty humiliating for me. This was a spot that I enjoyed going to but after this experience I don t think I ll be back.

Great experience!!! Food was delicious and the waiting staff were super friendly. Atmosphere was super fun and unique. Highly recommend especially for large groups. Great indoor and outdoor dining.

Margo is one of the servers Ive had a number of times. Shes super attentive and gave my friends and I awesome recommendations off the menu. Best spot in Lansdowne easily.

This place is excellent for enjoying a drink, featuring plenty of seating and numerous attentive staff members. However, the restrooms require some attention, as they tend to become dirty quite quickly.

The brunch tasted amazing. The portions were a lil bit smaller than I expected but it tasted really good. Parking: Parking around Lansdowne when there s a game is tough.

Vibe, food and drinks - everything was great. Staff could be a tad more involved but it s understandable with how busy it gets.

We have eaten here a few times now and the food has always been great. Best part is their gluten friendly options. Our daughter is very intolerant (possibly celiac, but unconfirmed) and has not reacted to the food shes eaten here. Keep up the good work LOCAL!

Local at Lansdowne is awesome. Were regulars!! We always try to get seated at Brookes tables, shes such a friendly and amazing server - really attentive and personable.

Local has been one of my favorite spots to have beers, food and watch sporting events for many years now. Food is great and the staff and service is always top notch. Our favorite server Brooke always makes us feel so welcome and takes care of us and makes us feel right at home. In the summer this truly is a great spot for afternoon beers on a patio.

The host working last night was absolutely phenomenal! We were a large group looking for takeout while the restaurant was on a wait list. She was calm, professional, organized and detailed. We were all individual orders, which were packaged perfectly, payment was smooth and organized. I was absolutely blown away with her customer service! 15/10! On top of that, all of our food was hot and absolutely delicious! In a time where many places are not delivering customer service at even a mediocre level, this place is on a completely different level. Extremely well done, and highly recommended!
