I took some out-of-town friends here for trivia and it was a fantastic time! Great beer, the staff were wonderful, and trivia was so much fun. I can t wait to go back, and I am recommending the Monday night trivia to all of my friends in Ottawa!

Good beer

Restaurant was empty when we arrived. Drinks were fine, but food (chicken burger and chips) was very, very salty. Service was very attentive, but cant recommend the food.

It wasnt full and it still took a long time until we were served. The typical water to order was also forgotten despite being mentioned. We drank a flight and tried 4 beers. Overall that was ok.

We arrived to Ottawa late and we were looking for something to have for dinner so this place looked nice, we ordered some wings, which were very good. We ordered the butchers experience but the chicken and brisket were very very dry. The white slamming sangria is actually very good and refreshing.

We came as a big group, ordered nachos, poutine and chicken sandwich. Everything came quick despite how busy it was, server kept checking up on us which I appreciated! Would def come here again

Absolutely the best bar Ive ever been to. Ive been in Ottawa for 6 days, and the service has been unbelievable. First off Cat is the best bartender Ive ever had the privilege of knowing. She introduced me to Corey Perry super low key. Jason was unreal my second night, and Taylor runs around like a chicken with her head cut off but she still kills it. Cat, Cat, Cat! Jason, Jason, Jason! Taylor, Taylor, Taylor!

Reserved for a table to watch Euro 2024 quarter finals, they sat us at the bar facing a bar tender with no TVs in view.

We chose the place randomly for lunch on Saturday noon, and boy were we glad with the choice we made. Service was excellent, served our drinks and took our order within minutes (Im very partial to having a beverage served quickly) Their own beer is good, the food is very good pub fare. One might find wings on the drier side, but I like them this way Will be coming back next time Im in the Market area

Such a great place on a Friday night. Sarah our server, was awesome with our large group who sat outside. She was very attentive and friendly. Definitely worth going back.

The service was fast and friendly. I forget his name but he was quick to say hi to us, get us our drinks and take our food order. The poutine was pretty good. The pulled pork sandwich was a bit underwhelming.

Come for karaoke with the live band on Tuesday nights. They are absolutely exceptional, and seem to be able to play pretty much any song you request to sing to. This is possibly the coolest weekly event in Ottawa.

In town for a celebratory end of the university season with my daughter. We were going to do the Keg next door but opted to go local with this joint instead. The restaurant wasn t busy but we sat at the giant bar. Had a couple of their beers, the Raspberry and the blonde which went down very nicely. I went for the brisket, lowering my expectations that 6oz would be enough, and that it would match the quality brisket I had just last week in Arizona. There was way more it seemed than 6oz, to my delight. It might ve used a bit more seasoning, but the smoked taste was definitely there. It was tender and tasty - not dried out. The accompanying bbq sauce made up for the lack of seasoning. The fries were okay, the wee corn bread was a nice touch. It s a bit on the pricey side here, which is to be expected given it s within the touristy Byward Market precinct.

We came in for dinner.. we gor seated at a very sticky table and given 3 menus that were so stained and sticky. Ugh. Creeper us put as it makes you wonder what the cleanliness of the kitchen is. We left without getting dinner. The only nice part was the waitress was friendly.

Food was pathetic. Beers were great. Gave us stale chicken wings with no flavor. When complained there waitress had an attitude

Beautiful restaurant but incredibly noisy. We waited way too long for our meals to arrive. The wait should have been explained before our orders were placed. Over an hour for an appetizer of nachos and a pretzel is just ridiculous. They should stop taking new tables if the kitchen isn t catching up. Our waitress was inexperienced but incredibly sweet. Pinball and arcade machines were fun to play while we waited. Our burgers were very good.

Seemed like they were short on staff but they managed. Fish tacos and the Hazy IPA was good.

This place knows how to do meat. Chicken and ribs were fantastic. Unfortunately that s where it ends for me. Our table of 6, 3 of us ordered meals that included corn bread. When I complained there was no corn bread on our plates, the waitress apologized and said she d get some. Took about 20 minutes to hear back that kitchen was out. This should have been advised at time of order with a substitution offer. Again had to complain to get $1 off meal. Five of us got our meals and they started serving another table. Had to ask where last meal was before they served the last meal. Waitress was pleasant enough but didn t seem to know much about menu. NOTHING was ever cleaned off our table. Not a single glass or plate was ever taken off. We had no room left in the table and were piling things up, still nothing. It was only once one person in our party decided to clear the table himself that they saw there was an issue. No dessert available, on a Saturday of a long weekend. They did give us a discount and gift certificate however truly believe they only survive because of tourists. A shame because they really know how to use their smoker!

We were seated fairly quickly but in rear of restaurant. Took 15 min for server to come and ask if we wanted drinks. Then it it went downhill from there. Drinks can 35-40 min later. Excuse was we are busy. We ordered food and waited over 45 min for food and 2 of our party of 8 didn t get theirs for another 25 minutes!! After another 30 min asked if we wanted anything else and we asked for another drink. Took another 30 min! Also nobody ever took dirty dishes and glasses away. We had to do it ourselves. They got annoyed we were leaving dishes in their pick up area lol. Table behind us was a table of 6 and beside us was table of 8 , and they were building a tower with their water glasses because after 40 min nobody asked if they wanted drinks or food. Avoid this place at all costs!! It s to bad because their smoked meat is amazing. Staff sucks and are rude and they don t have a clue what the F is going on. Too bad nice looking place :(

I went to Lowertown a few weekends ago and my bartender Mark was so helpful, kind and funny! He gave me great recommendations, a friendly greeting, and awesome service

Jason, our server, was very personable and helpful in recommending the best fish tacos I have had! I highly recommend this place if you are in Ottawa. Make sure you ask for Jason.

Awesome spot for drinks and food. Great selection of beer on tap and a wide selections of food, even later at night. Kay and Jay are great and you would be lucky to have them serve you, make sure to tip well!

Literally smells like a dog kennel. The bartenders have zero service coordination, cannot keep track of who s waiting for a drink or not and will skip you if you don t order beer or booze. The house speakers are blown and an embarrassment. I ve been here many times, but I will never return again after tonight. What a shame and waste for the Byward Market. Do better. A LOT better

First and last time at this place. Burgers are the same as the ones from McDonalds and service is terrible. Entitled and arrogant staff. 80 dollars for 2 burgers and drinks.

It was my first time in Ottawa but it sure wont be my last time at this brewery! Awesome place with a great beer selection and smoked meats. We went here for our anniversary dinner. Our server was great and food was great too. However, I was disappointed when the manager did not honour CFOne military discount even though Lowertown Brewery is one of the restaurants listed for discounted meal price for military members.

Never been in the place before. Was immediately greated by a warm smile and a cold beer. Amber and Kay took the best care of customers. Will def be back.

The meal arrived in less than 5 minutes, which is a bad sign in a restaurant. The food was tasteless or downright disgusting. The coleslaw was stale and gave off a foul odor, the beer had an ashtray aftertaste. I have serious doubts about the freshness of the food I was served there, so I barely touched my plate. I dont recommend. The waitress was at least courteous.

Do not order the charcuterie board and pretzels combo.. it is 29$ and consist of cheap salami and literally 9 thin pieces of cheese oh sorry and 2 pickled beans.. charcuterie? More like charnada!!

Good place, I took the brisket plate. The smoked meat very good, but the quantity could be increased. However, you get a mountain of fries with it, a little spicy homemade coleslaw and corn bread.

I gave this place two stars becuse the two beers I had where ther only good things I had in this place. The service was pretty good but the food is terrible and small portions... i say eat at the keg and then go over there for beers after...

Have been coming here for the last few years and the place has changed a lot. The front of house workers are very nice but dont work here for long. The beer is some of my favourite in the city, and the food is good but used to be better. Since a change in management the place seems like its trying to do a lot of things very badly instead of one thing very well. The general manager is also a creep. Just go somewhere else.

I used to go here all the time cuz the staff was super nice but seems like all my favorite ones have left recently, which sucks because I can get overpriced mid-rate food and drinks from disinterested staff anywhere else in the market. The DJ is still good though

This is a five star and three star review combined to make a four star rating. I had a great bear, Barracks Bitter, it was very close to a pulled British bitter. My friend had a dragon fruit mojitos which was meh and overpriced. We did not have anything to eat so we cannot comment on the food.

Lowertown Brewery is a must-visit for anyone in the area. The nachos were delicious and the beer pitcher was the perfect size for us. The service was fantastic, our waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere of the place was also great, really enjoyed our time there.

What you might imagine from a Market bar catering to tourists and people with low expectations. The patio was littered with cigarette butts, the tables are so wobbly they ll spill your drinks, rather slow service, and poor tasting beers and low quality wine (at $14 per glass like niche restaurant prices). Cant comment on the food. Meh.

Our 8 year old was thoroughly impressed with the ribs and fries on the kids menu. Don t see that too often!! We enjoyed the beer. A nice place to stop for a drink and a snack.

If I could give zero stars I ould We just waited 25minutes for a waiter to say hello to us after we were seated by the hostess. It never happened. At some point it became a joke between all of us to see how long it would go on for. But then the thirst got us and we went to The Laff. Long live The Laff.

Was there April 22 2023 , server was friendly but service was terrible . Took over an hour to get our food, when it came out everything was cold . Server told us there was only 1 cook in the kitchen and the patio was fairly busy. Server did not know how to redeem the gift card I had brought , no managers were working. NOT IMPRESSED

Awesome brewery! Kay at the bar took fantastic care of us. I was unsure at first, even petrified, thinking how would I choose from so many amazing beers. But Kay took my hand, guided me. She made me feel whole. Also. The Gold beer was great. Medium body, just right with the Poutine.

Love the music by the dj Friday and Saturday night. Great place to bring our birthday parties. The staff are friendly and energetic behind the bar. Meg made us feel great and her service is fast!!!!

Okay patio and food if youre looking for a bite and dont want to spend a mint. Definitely need to change the poutine so the gravy is hot enough to melt the cheese, and the fries are overdone. Chicken sandwich was dry but the mayo made up for it. Well seasoned.

Came in on Saturday with some friends for dinner and we sat on the patio and it was really nice to see how busy it was and how many people were enjoying their night out. Atmosphere was definitely one of good spirit. Our server Taylor gave us great service she was very attentive and very friendly. We got the raspberry wheat beer and it was great too. We will be back for sure again soon!

Terrible beer to match the terrible service. The place is a cool spot, with games to play while you drink a beer. However, there are no change machines to get coins for the games and the service is so bad, forget that as an option to get change. This would be whatever if it wasnt for the terrible terrible beer. Perhaps the worst beers Ive had. If youre a seeker of craft beer and thinking of checking these beers out, dont bother.

Went here for supper with 10-12 of my colleagues. Didn t appear to be busy. Can only say it was a catastrophic failure. Many of us literally waited 45 minutes for a first beer. Had to chase waitress down to take orders after sitting dor 20 minutes then beers came out 25 minutes later. Some only received their drinks after their meal was almost done. Ended being 2.5 hour ordeal for a mediocre pizza and warm beer. The bathrooms are disgusting. Service was terrible. I am not sure how this place keeps its doors open. I don t expect that it will be open by the next time we come to Ottawa for business.

Workers are nice, but was given a dirty menu and sticky table, a cup with lipstick stains and the washroom was kind of dirty.

An instant food store that looks flashy on the outside... Beer is worth drinking

Have been here a couple of times and always been happy, but recently had family visiting so we went here (3 adults and a toddler). Everything started fine nice seat on the patio and waited to be served. The place was not busy inside and a half full patio on a Saturday afternoon. We waited over 30mins and we werent even acknowledged by our server, no waters, no Ill be with you in a moment just blatantly ignored. She continued to serve other tables around us and who were seated after us. We got up to leave and with two servers and a host nobody said anything. Unfortunately wont be back, also seems that they have stopped their kids menu (was no longer on the menu - but we didnt get a chance to ask) which is a pity as it was really good.

The only nice thing about this place is its atmosphere. The service was terrible and we found our server to be unprofessional and not attentive at all. We didn t have food here, but the fries weren t fresh and I could tell the oil they were fried in was old.

Im not entirely sure, but I think they might mix water in their wine because I didnt find it strong at all, and its not even 6oz! Their wings are really disappointing. The beers arent that great either, and their food is just not very tasty.

Was there today with my family and we enjoyed our time there as it s a kid friendly restaurant, which we very much appreciated as we had our 2 year old child with us. I usually don t write reviews, but I felt like I had to write something given there was food items missing on the menu regarding the nachos (have no idea if that s the case with other items in the menu). One of us has a severe intolerance to black beans and it wasn t on the items list for nachos on the menu. Usually, we simply don t order a meal if we see that there s black beans in them. We also could ve told the server that we had food sensitivities to black beans but we didn t given it seemed like a pretty detailed menu. Anyway, we noticed black beans in the plate was brought to our table, and they everywhere. The server was extra helpful and very nice and offered to have a new plate made. I just thought I d give our readers a heads up to let te sever know if they have food sensitivities and who it may concern that work there to please have a detailed menu for people like us who have food sensitivities. Thank you! :) Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu, crayons, give away cups

This brewery is a great concept but our service last night was really poor. The server forgot about our bachelor party and we ended up waiting over 45min for a round of beer.

The place is pretty and cozy but wings were overcooked. Poor taste. Completely dry inside.

Typical tourist bar trap with pub grub. Ordered poutine with brisket. Waitress forgot brisket and brought to the table after complaining. Offered a verbal apology. Waitress was friendly. $22 poutine and brisket had a salty corporate taste without flavor or style. Would not recommend or return.

Just got back from this place and was too excited not to write this review! Ive tried a lot of burgers in my life and this one was one of the best! The double burger was so good. You bite into this burger and immediately feel the different style bun its light and fluffy(seemed homemade) and can absorb the juices of the burger without falling apart! As you continue to bite down you get the taste of fresh romaine lettuce, tomato, and pickles. As the bite continues, you start to taste the two very well seasoned smash patties of beef and feel the juices of the burger explode with the bite! Finally as you get down to the bottom of the burger you taste the homemade house sauce (which really complements the whole thing)! Your bite ends with the bottom part of the homemade fluffy light bottom of the bun and it really brings the entire bite together! I hope to go back again soon and have a similar experience! The burger is messy and its delicious... Its the way a burger should be! Caesar Salad was fresh, had real bacon, parmesan cheese, and a small amount of dressing which I really enjoyed! Waitress was very friendly and the patio was nice and lit. There were lots of people around drinking and enjoying their Friday night which enhanced the patio environment!

Where the prices are high, but the spirits are low. I recently visited this establishment, hoping to find a golden brew but ended up with a wallet that felt significantly lighter. The $15 home brew pint felt more like highway robbery than a refreshing beverage. In conclusion, Lowerton Brewery left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and it wasnt from the hops.

The Cancun dry rub wing tastes no good, the orange bbq tastes good, the sweet chilli tastes good with crispy yellow fried skin outside. Wings Not breaded. Fries are good and crispy. All you can eat wing game night Sunday after 5pm. Price okay, has to order a drink, the first plate has fries on the bottom of the wings.

Went there last week Thursday for an open-mic night, the show the artists put on was great and that s about it for this place. I got some wings, and they have to be the worst wings I have ever had for $21. Their selection of beers is very limited too, which consists of about 5ish unheard of beers. They also had one single waiter/bartender serving the entire bar and that man was exhausted (props to him!). The place and the atmosphere is so run-down, and needs a complete overhaul. It is just disappointing, since that spot has SO much potential given its huge floor space and prime location. Overall, I would not recommend this spot and I personally will not be coming back.

New management has revamped the restaurant and nightly activities! Food quality has improved and I love the arcade games, Live Band Kareoke and Stampede Saturdays! Assistant manager Kay also planned a corporate event for my business! She took care of all of my event needs! Highly recommend!

Great bar, great open mic, great full band karaoke. They even have a bull on the last Saturday of every month Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly with kids menus and meals Wheelchair accessibility: Bar is fully wheelchair accessible with a dedicated accessible bathroom on the main floor.

This is such a great place to have a drink the 2 bartenders had some great suggestions and k ew the area very well! Glad we decided to stop here, Thank you so much Johnny and Phill!

My wife and I came to Lowertown two weekends in a row and were quite impressed. While the food was impressive, and the drinks delicious, it was the staff that really made our stay pleasant (Thanks Jamie!!). I recommend this place 100% and will be going back soon.

One of our favorite spots in Ottawa. Get yourself a pretzel. They re delicious! Great indoor atmosphere, outdoor seating and friendly servers. Lots to see on the patio if you sit along the street. Good selection of drinks including beer pairings and fishbowls. The food is excellent and the portions are huge, including the poutine, nachos and sandwiches.

Just ok. The place was short staffed which meant long wait times, and the beer was nothing special.

Great brewery with an extensive patio, good selection of beers and excellent food. The buttermilk chicken sandwich is a must try when you visit. Inside is also super fun and worth checking out if you are looking for some fun vibes in the market.

My team and I organized an event and Jason, the GM, was wonderful! We had fruits, veggies, a salad bar and desserts lined up, buffet style, and some waiters passing around hot food all evening. The music was on, they have arcade games available, and we had the whole patio as well! There was a lot of food to go around, everything was clean & organized, and Jason communicated everything to us very well and allowed our group to stay a little longer. Phillis, the bartender, was also very helpful and professional, leading up to our event and the day of, along with the rest of the wait and kitchen staff. Well definitely be hosting another event at Lowertown!

Nothing wrong with this meal, but nothing really stands out as exceptional except the price either. It is a tough economy for us all, no doubt, but eating out on an unmemorable experience like this one wont help stretch your dollars any further. Service was friendly and efficient, and atmosphere is fine. 43 bucks tip and tax in for a plate of pub grub and a lemonade is just not in my future plans.

I went to oktoberfest with lots of hope . Had pathetic experience in terms of food, drinks and service

Such a bad experience! My hopes were really high. Paid an entrance fee, paid 10$ plus tax for beer!!! and only 5 food items.. oh, and out of a few beer options, 50% of them they didn t have. What is the point of having an oktoberbeerfest if you guys cannot keep german beers stocked? never going back. There were only 3 functioning patio heaters, there were few other heaters, but they did not work at all. If they are selling tickets, they know how many people are gonna show up and could ve arranged a proper patio seating.

Attending the Oktoberfest was my first time at Lowertown and probably the last because of how horribly organized it was. Had to pay $25/person and for what .only got a beer mug and disappointment to take home. The event description was vague but we still decided to go since the organizers made it look very promising, we even invited our friends for it. The event page mentioned that we will receive complimentary beer or some sort of beer tasting would happen. But when we got there, we got handed a menu with very few menu items and beers, out of which they didn t have any German beers. A very average night where we paid $$ to enter the restaurant and sit outside and paid more money for severely overpriced and underwhelming food. Disappointed!

Amazing local beer, food, and service!

We totally enjoyed our experience at Lowertown Brewery. We were served by Victoria and she was absolutely amazing! We had the fish tacos and also the vegan tacos. Would highly recommend. Thank you Victoria!!! Vegetarian options: Flatbread , kettle chips, tofu tacos

To make it simple and easy, that was my favorite place for 2 yrs, ordering one single item: Smokey Habanero Chicken sandwich. Tonight things went south! wrong order twice, and an over cooked crispy chicken that you cant even chew. No worries mistake s happens. Our lovely waitress decided to convince us that the order was wrong because we added a side dipping of honey garlic, well none of what she said was relative to the issue but still its fine, people can have a bad night at work. To make things even worse we were offered a discount of 4$ . well I guess things went above and beyond our expectations!

My girlfriend and I visited, great drinks. The GM (Jason) was very forward and gave off an unsettling vibe. This spoiled our experience and I will not return. Management staff creating an awkward, borderline creepy environment for guests is unacceptable and I would not recommend this place to anyone because of this.

Nice pub. Good food, ambience and service. Had the BLT with salad. Was not disappointed. Price is also reasonable.

Tip was included on the bill but it was not mention to us, we paid the tip twice.

The service was great, our server was friendly and very attentive. We ordered the wings and the brisket and found both to be kind of dry and lacking in taste. When the restaurant started to get busier, it was very loud....we could barely hear each other. Apart from that, the restaurant is in a nice location.
