Great place to come relax and get a sandwich, or freshly made soup. Used to avoid coming here during my lunch break because of all the kids, they were loud, messy and very disrespectful. Glad management made the choice to ban them. The 1 star reviews are from them being upset so I would disagree with their opinion of this wonderful cafe. The staff at Oggi is super friendly and Maria at the cash is always in a great mood. Looking forward to all the different soups they make!
I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. As a regular customer and a student, I have always appreciated the quality of the food and service—until now. Unfortunately, it’s clear that the new management has no regard for fairness or respect when dealing with customers. During my visit, I felt blatantly discriminated against as a student customer. My concerns were dismissed, and I was spoken to in a condescending tone by the new manager, who was not only unhelpful but shockingly disrespectful. Their attitude left me feeling unwelcome and undervalued, which is unacceptable for any establishment. Treating customers differently based on their background, especially students, is both unfair and unprofessional. I sincerely hope the owners address these serious issues with the current management, as this behaviour is damaging to what was once a pleasant and inclusive dining environment. Until changes are made, I cannot recommend Oggi’s marketplace
I’m incredibly disappointed with the treatment I experienced at Oggi’s last week. As someone who has been a regular customer, visiting 2–3 times a week for the past two years and spending hundreds of dollars, I never expected such disrespect. Without any explanation, the new manager abruptly banned me and all other students from the restaurant. Despite our polite attempts to understand the reason, his only response was to yell, “Out!” The lack of communication and professionalism was appalling. I can no longer recommend Oggi’s. If respect and fairness are important to you, I suggest taking your business elsewhere. Their treatment of loyal customers like me is unacceptable.
Been dining there for much of my life. One day i was abruptly kicked out by the new manager. Horrible! No real reason given either, other than “students not being allowed”. Even the staff agreed that this was unfair! Wouldn’t recommend in a million years! I’ve included this picture of the breakfast that used to get there. Sad that these memories are now drenched with new ones of horrible treatment.
When this restaurant opened a couple of years ago, the owner was so welcoming and we enjoyed our visits there. To support a new business, we took colleagues there for coffee or lunch and also encouraged our son to have lunch there with his friends from the nearby high school, even when prices increased. Therefore, I was dismayed and disappointed to learn that all students were escorted out by security last week and told they were “banned”, with the new manager refusing to give a reason. We understand telling students (politely) that tables are only for customers (these students had all bought lunch there), but banning all students simply because one may have misbehaved in the past (as we heard) is inexcusable. I will no longer eat at Oggi Marketplace and I also will spread the word about the disrespectful treatment to my friends and colleagues. The students deserve an apology.
My experience at Oggi today was very disappointing. I have been a regular customer for a long time, stopping by nearly every single day, and I never expected to be treated so poorly. Out of nowhere, the new manager decided to ban all students without giving any reason. When we asked why, he just yelled at us to leave. The only person who even tried to explain was the security guard, who said it was some kind of business decision. It’s shocking to see how little they value their customers now. What used to be a great spot with great food and service has completely changed, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

If you value respect and fairness, please stay away from this business. It’s clear they don’t value their loyal customers.
They kicked all the Lisgar students who have been having lunch at this diner since Grade 10. Yes we brought outside food once before but the staff told us that as long as we buy anything we would not get kicked out, and we have been buying food there and no more outside food, for a long time. Today they called the security on us and all the students got kicked out, permanently banned for no reason. We did nothing against these so called “rules” that they made. Will not come back again because of this unfair treatment. Everything went worse since they got this new manager. Staff went less nice and food had been worse.
I am shocked at the poor reviews as of new. This place is very clean, super nice staff and amazing food at an affordable price.

Long time customer here, I dine there very often and the owner began yelling at people in the business who were simply Trying to enjoy their food/drink. He began to kick people out even when they made purchases from the store. I will not be visiting this establishment again! Food
The new manager is extremely rude and disrespectful. I cant tell if it was because of my ethnicity or just a general dislike for students. My friends and I were kicked out for no apparent reason, even though we politely asked why, all we got was disgusted look.
Ok food but new manager is very disrespectful to students and makes the atmosphere horrible. Do not recommend.
Perfect place to grab a great healthy wrap
Hazel, Maria, Emma and Alex are amazing and will take care of you. Hazel will prepare you the best sandwich, wrap, or bowl in Canada! And her smile is the ice on the cake. Phenomenal team and very affordable.
It is very apparent that there is some serious cost saving attempts. The food use to be amazing but has suffered a serious decline since Ryan the old manager was let go. Shelves are bare and drink fridges were bare for 3 or so weeks. Service is still great but the food quality has suffered what I would say is an almost un recoverable amount.
Theyve changed the process. What was once a great secret spot for sandwiches that we visited several times is different now. The past few times I visited the staff were less friendly than before, I could no longer mix and match meats for one price and the free lemon water disappeared. Its unfortunate that I wont frequent here as much. It should be noted the ingredients are still fresh and there is a wide variety with reasonable prices for many items in todays economy.

The recently renovated Oggie s Marketplace at Ottawa city hall is fresh and welcoming. But what distinguishes Oggie s is the level of exceptional customer service. Specifically, Johnny and Trudi are a cut above.

Came here for lunch at Ottawa City Hall - their sandwiches are definitely the main draw, especially the meats. I had the turkey sandwich with the pesto mayo, and YUM! The bread is excellent, crisp outside and fluffy inside. The owner (Johnny) was absolutely lovely and had great recommendations. I cant wait to try the other food here!

Let me tell u about a good sandwich.. The bun was fresh.. crunchy on the outside and moist inside.. absolutely the BEST Porc roast Ive ever had.. and I cook.. a large selection of the highest quality meats.. cheeses.. and fresh veggies.. puts Subway to shame.. the MANs love for his craft was so nice to see.. like he has taken his service and food years back and u can see he is proud of what he is doing.. I will definitely be going back.. Parking: Pay parking under city hall Kid-friendliness: Many chairs and open area kids will do fine here Wheelchair accessibility: Open and accessible to all impairments

I came in this morning to get my breakfast sandwich egg and cheese Terry kindly asked me in a timid way if I eat bacon I said no due to religious beliefs, she kindly made sure she doesn t touch it while she made my sandwich she was really thoughtful and caring for others and gives foremost respect for everyone!! Great place and great staff highly recommend this place for their home made kitchen menus!
Went to City hall and went Oggi cafeteria. Stumbled in to Johnny. The place is spotless sandwiches always top notch. A must for lunch . Fresh and affordable
New favourite place downtown to grab a quick bite! Been here several times over the past couple weeks and it s always amazing service and food! The fresh made baked good are highly recommended and the sandwiches are a must! 10/10

We were visiting Service Ontario around lunchtime and decided to try Oggis. Delicious homemade pea soup and a built for us sandwich. And the donuts--wow! Wonderful food and excellent service--what a gem in City Hall! Thank you for a great city experience.

Hands down the best sandwich shop in all of Ottawa. Their prices are extremely reasonable, the sandwiches are made with fresh and local ingredients, and they taste amazing. If they charged 10 times more I would still pay the price; they are that good. Not to mention that all of the staff are the nicest people I ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I highly recommend everyone to visit this shop, no matter how far away you live. If I could give a rating more than 5/5, I 100% would.
The owner (i think?) is VERY friendly! He tells ppl how fresh and well made the meats are for sandwiches, and letting us to try some just right away.. the house-in turkey and pork . The best !!! You can diy the sandwich the way you want to, and there are good options :) Also coffee is GUSTO Great price, amount, staffs, taste!!! One of the best sandwich ever!

Ordered a chicken parm sandwich - DELICOUS!! Service as always amazing and they have a good well priced selection of specialty Italian jarred goods and pasta. I picked up some spicy eggplant for home. Highly recommend this place Food
Best secret spot for sandwiches! I went in for a late lunch, and I was impressed by their DIY sandwich offering! Super tasty. The bread was great. The two staff members working were also very helpful, and friendly. They went out of their way to check if they had any Greek salad left.

I had a lovely fish and chips. The tartar sauce and the salad were also delicious. The battered fish and thick fries appeared to have been prepared in-house. The staff were very nice to me. I like the complementary lemon water. Excellent price. The cafeteria has comfy winged back armchairs, big floor to ceiling windows, and some nice stuff to look at around the room. I also like their bacon breakfast sandwich, very fresh and delicious bacon and cheese.
Was surprised to see a bagel was $2.75 but then cream cheese was $2.25! A bagel and cream cheese should not be the same price as a breakfast sandwich. The sign also said it was supposed to be a kettlemans bagel and it is clearly not. A little disappointed to be honest
Staff is super friendly but prices are a bit crazy. Paid $8 for just a regular size coffee that is self serve and a bagel with cream cheese. It s an extra $2.25 just to add cream cheese which is a bit crazy Menu says they serve Kettleman s sesame bagels which I ordered but they ended up giving me a regular plain grocery store bagel so that was sad
