We went for dinner, the meal was delicious, the wine list is limited but of good quality and enough choice to accompany your food and have fun. Attentive service, thanks to Mehdi for his advice and his charming good humor. A beautiful evening, in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

What a relaxed but sophisticated spot!! Was here for a birthday cocktail celebration and we were all raving about the ambiance as well as the food and beverages. Charcuterie was fresh and not at all run-of-the-mill. I had a Granny Sour which was superbly crafted and others enjoyed the Lavender Haze. Louanne was our gracious server and she spoiled us with a first-class experience. Highly recommend this hidden gem in downtown Ottawa.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Norca this past week alongside friends. I was welcomed and seated promptly. The bartender had made us feel welcomed as well as being knowledgeable of what was offered and able to make great recommendations for the table. The staff overall had gone above to make sure we were satisfied. Our food was ordered and brought to the table in a fast manner, keeping the smiles on our faces. I highly recommend the bartenders choice as we were not let down, as well as the Lavender Haze, Sidecar and Dragon s Den. In terms of food, the Atlantic Cod, the Bacon Cheeseburger and Steak Frites were delightful. To say the least, my experience was extremely memorable with the food, overall staff from the lobby to the restaurant and will definitely be coming back soon!

While our food looked fantastic, unfortunately, it didn t taste so. Most of it was either bland, burned, or not as described on the menu. We told the supervisor about our experience, and were given free dessert which, unfortunately, wasn t great either. We were offered no discount, so we paid a lot of money for food we didn t eat much of. All that said, the spring roll appetizer was amazing.

The team at this restaurant does an extraordinary job. The service was very courteous. The food was delicious. The effort put into preparing the dishes totally justifies the price.

I was thoroughly disappointed to see you have taken off your vegetarian option as a main course. The vegetarians are left with little options. I think this is unacceptable in a restaurant like yours.

Particularly successful and tasty meal. The poor rating given to the service does not target the waitress, but rather her manager. Even though I had a good meal there, I will never return to this restaurant because of its attitude. We do not lecture in a condescending and contemptuous manner to a customer who has just paid more than $500 to honor the presence of colleagues who are dear to him. In front of my guests, he lectured me on the tip that he wanted to be at least 18% or more. I paid in cash and left the required amount. There was no tact or respect in the way he addressed me. The place is welcoming, well decorated and the cuisine is original and delicious. The bilingual service is second to none. We went there a second time because we liked our first visit, and it was even better the second time. Highly recommended!!

I visited Norca for the first time , new years. 2023 , absolutely everything 10/10. Service , food , everything amazing!!! Wao. It s incredibly how the taste of the food can make you travel . My host was a such a kind gentleman as well as my server. 10/10 all I can say .

Charming hotel restaurant in Ottawa with good food and tasty cocktails. Perfect for a quiet dinner and good conversations. We had the duck, bison, creme brulee, and caramel sponge cake! The Thyme for Marcs beets and House of Tarragon were our drinks choices. Pro tip: dress warm. Its gets cold.

They have the best fries. My food portion wasn t a lot and it was quite pricey but I heard that the brunch here is even better maybe I ll come back for that. Other than that my server was really nice and gave us wine to taste before we got it.

Nice atmosphere great cocktails but the food was not good at all. The meat on every dish was not good at all. My husband sent back his duck poutine because the duck was extremely dry and over cooked like left over duck wings from the menu. The Lamb Carbonara had minimal lamb and it was fatty and small tasteless bits. The AR burger meat mixture had large chunks of brisket in the ground beef which gave an odd texture. The service was good but when the poutine was sent back It was only compensated with a $4 reduction on a $22 poutine. Not sure what the issue was but it was a sadly disappointing meal by very experienced restaurant goers.

The drinks were quite good and the service was fine. The duck poutine was terrible. The duck was dried out and tasteless. The manager was not helpful to resolve this concern. Only a small portion of this dish was eaten. Offers for free desert were made but we were not interested. We stayed for another drink and when the cheque arrived a very disappointing $4 was removed from the $24 poutine. The wait service was fine and polite.

Went here for dinner tonight staff was very friendly, professional and prompt. Atmosphere was very cozy, comfy and romantic. Food was very tasty our favorites of the night being the beef tartar and the bison. Will be returning, thank you for the lovely dining experience.

As a former server, I hate to do this but the service was appalling. We were not loud and belligerent, yet were treated like a complete inconvenience. My friends and I were treated like garbage by this one server. She was rude and killed the night. If we hadn t been such a large group, we would ve left for sure.

My partner and I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and romantic. We both enjoyed the beef tartar and bison dishes, and the wine list was excellent. The desserts were amazing, and the presentation of the food was top-notch. We also appreciated the live pianist and cellist, which added to the ambiance. The only downside was the limited vegetarian options on the regular menu, but the Valentines Day menu had great selections for vegetarians. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning soon.

Yesterday night after going to the theater we went to norca for a glass of wine and decided to order the charcuterie board I just wanted to tell you how bad this was , I now wished that I took pictures of this for 26.00 it looked like they had used the left over of pate and cream cheese ( both enough for just one small crakers ) and 3 very small pieces of cheese and some ham 2 cut up strawberries 2 blackberry and some trow over blueberries ... My partner did not want me to said anything cause it look like the waitress where ready to go home plus he works for a big catering company here in Ottawa . I realize it was late but for 26.00....come on So please make sure you think twice on ordering it or make sure it early in the day .

Very bad experience. Mediocre meal (simple salad without sauce), average dish, tiramisu which is tiramisu in name only. Olive oil charged, bread charged. All at an exorbitant price (more than $140 per person) The only favorable point (which justifies 1 star) is the service. Quite pleasant and who makes the effort to speak French.

The price charged is simply mind-blowing: more than $143 for a poor salad, a steak and potatoes, a tiramisu that only had the name, a beer and a few glasses of wine... absolutely avoid!

In a word: run away! The feeling of having literally been robbed; a meal, imposed because there was a large group, consisting of a green salad without sauce, a piece of dry chicken, defrosted bread (and charged 65 dollars for the table!), a tiny tiramisu (only in name, horrible taste) , olive oil charged, gratuity imposed, all for 143 dollars per head. Terribly disappointed. Fortunately, the young servers did their best, the only positive point of this experience.

A real rip off! Paid 143CAD for half a bottle of cheap wine, a salad without dressing, a poor steak and something shamefully called tiramisu.... Oh yeah, I forgot about reheated frozen bread. To be avoided at any cost!

Endroit a lambiance tamisée agréable, bons cocktails, service aux petits soins. Les plats étaient plutôt bons, mais loption végétarienne vraiment décevante. Tian avec peu de saveur, très basique, alors que les autres plats étaient bien plus travaillés. Très bonnes tagliatelles homard et champignons ! Les dessert étaient très simples mais bien exécutés.

WOW always impressed! Norca restaurant has left the best impressions! Delicious dishes, beautiful presentation and wonderful dessert. The chef had all the attention to make sure the meal was gluten free and free of allergens so I can enjoy. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again

Not the best meal i had. The food wasn t that great. There are no nonalcoholic pescatarian options. When we asked if they could remove the alcohol in the food they said no. We ended up getting the vegetarian option which was bland. The salad had no dressing. I ve had better food at less expensive restaurants. The service was good and the waiter was patient with out demands, but the chef needs to create a better menu. The only great part about the place was the atmosphere. Nice music. Cool and relaxed ambiance.

Nice plate of cheeses and charcuterie. The cocktails are original but expensive, $18 to $20 a glass. Courteous service.

I decided to dine here out of convenience as I was staying at the Le Germain Hotel. It was the right choice! I had not been to a place like Norca before, where the menu seems to be centred around specific dishes from different Canadian regions. I opted for the Alberta bison tartare; I absolutely enjoyed it!!!! Their contemporary dining atmosphere was complemented by excellent, attentive service. I found Norca to be great restaurant that provided a refined level of service without a stilted formality. Looking forward to my next visit.

Yet another great experience at the Norca restaurant! This establishment is innovative and exquisite. The word needs to be spread in order for people to be aware of this Ottawa gem! First of all the front desk staff is fantastic. So attentive So hospitable From the charismatic and professional gentleman that opens the door to the funky girl with cool earrings that made sure we got to the parking lot safe. You could tell that she is a hawk when it comes to being costumer oriented. I will like to thank Lydia from the restaurant. She was not our server, but she was basically running the whole place by herself. Charming lady. I can t wait to keep coming back to Norca and experience it s authentic local flavours. Germain is the place to be! Parking: Don t park across the street. It was 29$ for 2h. Park at Rideau center.

Very nice restaurant with excellent service in the Germain Hotel. House pickles and roasted seasonal carrot salad were particularly good. Bar menu is small but well curated and cocktails were well balanced and crafted. My only complaint is that the restaurant prides itself on its focus on Canadian ingredients and food but the wine list is mostly non-Canadian. With so many good and varied wines from Canada available this is not necessary. I find this is unfortunately a characteristic of many restaurants in Canada but it is a time we learn to take as much pride in our wine as we do in our food.

A wonderful dining experience all around at a lovely venue! We went with a group and ordered a variety of items, including - bone marrow, charcuterie, risotto, cod, the burger, and beef short rib. Everyone enjoyed their meals! Furthermore, the service was excellent and the drinks were tasty with a nice kick! Would highly recommend.

An amazing restaurant experience in every aspect. Amazing staff, wonderful food and great cocktails. This is what every single restaurant should be striving for. Impeccable, attentive and courteous service. Every minor detail of the experience was addressed, in order to make it as pleasant as possible. Weve tried the following cocktails: The City of Gold: El Dorado 12 year, Eclipse Heritage Blend, Goslings Black Rum, Turbinado syrup, Allspice bitters, orange *Smoked* Pink Melon: Cazvedores Blanco, Triple Sec, watermelon, lime, pink salt. I Cantaloupe to Cowansville with you: Ungava Northern Gin, cantaloupe, lemon, sugar, egg white Straw-Basil Lemon Spritz (non-alcoholic): Strawberry, basil, lemon, sugar, soda. The city of Gold was a very interesting and smoky twist on the old fashioned. Both the initial taste and the aftertaste had a lot of complex layers of flavours. Ask for it to be *smoked* for the full smoky experience. Pink Melon and I Cantaloupe both had fresh fruit juices and tasted amazingly refreshing and well balanced. The non-alcoholic Straw-basil was a very tropical, pleasant and not overly sweet. Food wise weve tried the following: Soup of the day: Carrot, Celeriac, terragon oil, prosciutto chips. Scallop: 2x scallops, black garlic mashed potatoes, mushrooms, Gruyère cheese, breadcrumbs. Braised beef cheeks: Ontario raised beef cheeks braised 48H sous vide, pinot noir reduction, salsify purée, garden vegetables and seared foie gras. Duck breast: Mariposa farms duck breast, rösti, Brussel sprouts, baby turnips, orange gastric sauce. The soup was a perfectly balanced cream of root vegetables, and was exactly what we needed on a cool rainy day. Ended up getting another one after the dinner was done. The prosciutto in the soup was a very interesting addition and gave it even more depth. The scallop, covered by Gruyère cheese, on a bed of mashed potatoes and mushrooms, was a perfect starter. The braised beef cheeks just melted in your mouth from tenderness. The seared foie gras just added another level to the whole experience. The duck breast was simply amazing. Perfectly cooked and sauced. Would have gotten another portion of it if I could physically fit it in. Got the following for dessert: Espresso panna cotta: Served with chocolate ganache, mascarpone cheese and crumble hazelnuts. It was the perfect dessert to round up the entire culinary experience; great texture and perfectly balanced coffee flavor. A special thank you to Marc, Meagan and Annie for making it such an unforgettable experience. Delicious breakfast/brunch buffet in comfortable and well appointed restaurant with great service. Wheelchair accessibility: Street entrance that is accessible and large elevators to the restaurant on the second floor.

My girlfriend and I were staying at the Le Germain hotel which we loved and decided to eat at Norca for dinner. The service was great, but the food and drinks were unfortunately not worth the price. We had a spiced cocktail to start which was ok but kind of watered down by the ice. We ordered a burger with a side salad and fries as well as a side of mashed potatoes. The texture of the topping on the fries was a bit powdery, the mashed potatoes were cold and bland. The salad was not bad. Overall it was just more expensive than I would have hoped for something of that quality. Again, the service was great, but for such a nice hotel I would expect the food to be a bit better.

We had brunch here with our family. Nothing amazing, but no particular complaints. Kids enjoyed the buffet options. We liked it.

Vegetarian pasta was good but not wow. I enjoyed the squash sauce but menu should really have more vegetarian options. Also I feel like at this price point restaurants should bring some fresh bread and olive oil to the table or something.

We visited this restaurant on November 7, 2022. From the moment that we arrived, we were greeted with professional and friendly service. The server we had was Armande, and he was amazing. We ordered cocktails, apps, mains and dessert and will definitely return. Amaretto Sour, made with egg whites....perfect. Appetizers were the scallops and the Chausson. Both were absolutely perfect. For dinner we had the Bison Osso Bucco and the Arctic Char. We had a dispute about whos meal was best. The portions are also generous. To end the evening we shared a cake/pudding...WOW. Other tables were also saying how amazing it was. The manager of the restaurant, Hamza, came over and thanked us for the visit and wanted to ensure all was good. Such a amazing touch of good service. We have already emailed friends about going with us again next month. We will certainly return.

Terrible in every way! Here is my honest breakdown: Ambiance 4/10 - why? Uncomfortable seating, bright lights, bad music that was not loud enough. Service 3/10 - why? They paid ZERO attention to our table and the woman who did serve us did so with the most painful fake smile I ve ever seen. Drinks 3/10 - why? Watered down with no flavour. Food 3/10 - why? Over priced small portions that are NOT gourmet, trust me I know. Will never be back and I don t recommend this place at all.

Amazing ambience if you want romantic drinks. Food isnt worth it. Trying to be upscale with bland food. And just sad that the female manager was so rude . Went while empty and was told to move from a nice four person table to a tiny two seat table that couldnt even hold our orders and drinks. Wont go back. Service is key and they havent figured that out yet.

Vegetarian options: Was served mushroom and pesto penne that actually turned out to be some sort of black whole wheat linguini. The pasta was extremely undercooked, had an awful, gritty texture, and was a minescule portion. Salad was a bust, with mushy overripe tomatoes and the strangest plating Ive ever seen. Tiramisu dessert tasted great, but had a very custardy consistency and texture. My spouse had a salmon dish which was alright, but the skin was very soft and mushy. Honestly I cant recommend this to anyone looking for a satisfying dining experience.

Came here after an event at OAG since I already paid for parking. Wanted a glass of wine and some nibbles. I like California Cabs, French Bordeaux and Bourgogne, essentially big bold reds and not much selection on that end by the glass. Order the beef tartar with fries and fries were excellent with homemade mayo and regular ketchup. Asked a staff member what type of fat for the fries and she said she will ask but did not get back. A couple of large parties may have contributed to that. Tartar was good but had a little more caper than what I liked and already combined and it was flank steak. While good, I think I prefer the beef carparccio made with beef tenderloin at another restaurant for similar price. I can taste each component separately or together as I choose. Higher end pricing and I would likely come back and try a beef or duck main course and I would definitely order the fries with it. The soup sounded a bit on the lighter side although I eyeed it a little bit. Now moving into winter, would love something heartier like a nice clam chowder.

3 friends and I had a lovely experience at Norca this past weekend. The food was delicious, the ambiance was lovely and the service with friendly and efficient. I had the Streak Frites paired with a glass of Red and I really enjoyed it. My only suggestion would be to add a seasonal vegetable to the Steak Frites - the dish seemed like it was missing some greens. Overall, would recommend to others!

This restaurant is excellent. The menu is small, but everything is made exceptionally well. I have dietary restrictions and they were accommodated well. We had the lamb and the rabbit. Both were fabulous. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was nice, clean and modern. We are also staying in the hotel and thus far, Norca is far and away the highlight. I strongly suggest.

Nice ambiance and decor. My husband enjoyed his lamb and cocktail. My pasta dish needed more flavour. The tiramisu was delicious. The bartender was also the hostess and waitress for the whole restaurant, which was too much for her and made service very slow. Interestingly, the manager was the food runner and busboy.

Impeccable service. Incredibly delicious and beautiful dishes and adequate quantity. We greatly liked the relaxed lounge atmosphere. This was our last holiday meal, our expectations were very high and were largely met. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you.

Cocktails and wine selection were nice but overall food was good but not great. A few dishes were missing vegetables listed in the menu, everything was a little lacking in seasoning and the gnocchi were mushy and tasted like raw flour. Service was very good though.

One of the best fine dining spots in Ottawa. The service is always exceptional and the food is delicious and the portions are a good size as well. The desserts always wow me.

The restaurant has a lounge feel which is really nice. The food was high quality and well plated. I would highly recommend the Halibut and Beef Short Ribs as mains. The only downside was that there was very few veggies with the main dishes and they were slightly undercooked. I also would not recommend the Norca Salad which was 20$ for mainly a bunch of Arugula. Overall I recommend this place.

I was staying in Le German and dining here. Impressive environment either in day or night, floor to ceiling glass, warming light and modern design. A few styles of seating place you can choose, sofa, bar seat etc. My main course was the smoked pork chop, the chef masters the cook timing and the taste match my expectation. Good size is enough for me but may be average for many people. I didn t get the drink due the need of driving, but the virgin cocktail taste good. Btw, Sunday s menu is the same as room service which only has a few simple dishes and is different from the normal. (the current I picked was from the normal menu)

Great service

We were prepared to be blown away when we arrived at Norca last August, we heard a lot of good about this restaurant in Ottawa. Well we didn t like it at all... sorry to say it like that. My boyfriend tried the green pea soup with lobster as a starter and then he had the duck. Both were okay but nothing special and certainly nothing to be impressed. I had the beef tartare for starter ( it was great but a little too salty) and then i had the lobster papardelle. The papardelles were not enough cooked, the sauce was salty and brownish, and the lobster was dry. It was definitely not well done and i didn t finish my plate. I have to say also that the servings were too big, a starter was the size of an entree. Very disappointed! And it cost us nearly 250$ for this dinner...

Very friendly service, overall experience was good. The food was good but I expected more given the reputation of the place and the ambiance (everything is very well set up). If youre looking for a great food experience I wouldnt recommend this place as the dishes arent spectacular for the price. The meat I had was properly cooked to my liking without being particularly tender. The bone marrow appetizer was served warm and it was quite tasty. The dish I ordered had an interesting variety of vegetable components.

Stylish restaurant on second floor with views over city streets. Imaginative menu with small and large plates. Food was well prepared with good flavours.

The customer service is excellent and the atmosphere is even more so. The employees make great efforts to speak to us in French. We ate very well and the cocktails were original! A very nice evening!

Amazing experience! Really refined lounge vibe with an informed staff who you can tell really care about the food and drinks they are serving. A great spot for drinks or a full meal.

We have been here several times and it is always excellent. The vegetarian plate is one of my favourites, though I m not vegetarian, and I try to make other choices than this one. Service is great too.

I attended the soft opening. The oysters had fermented root vegetables and a mignonette. All the fermented veg was done beautifully. Some had a spice some were more sour, but all were perfectly balanced. The second round of small plates consisted of the toast points with various in season Mushrooms, caramelized leaks, burnt goat cheese and ramps. A great dish with components that oozed the essence of spring. The other small plate consisted of thinly sliced fois gras with endive, white and green asparagus beet caramelized red onion, and sabayon. A fresh dish with a couple elements to enhance richness and give complexity. The mains were a preverbial punch to the face with flavour. The duck dish, done in the style of a canneloni, the ground duck and squash provided and rich sweetness which was enhanced with the complexity of the fois gras sour cream and crispy chicken skin. To cut through all the intense flavour profiles, the dish was seved atop a consumme and a forest gremolata provided a much needed earthiness. The other main consumed was a trip from land to sea. Halibut was served in a vegetable lattice, a classic technique that when done correctly steams the fish allowing it to become very tender. Served with the protein were salmon roe to add salt and a sweet potato hay added texture and sweetness. Even without liquor license at the moment (which they will receive soon) the mocktails tasted anything but. The gin and tonic with a house made tonic water and juniper infusion made it incredibly hard to detect the lack of spirit within. The interior itself was something to behold, a mixture of different cultural touches that somehow mesh together. Whether it was the Italian furniture or the Portuguese cutlery everything felt completely natural and in place, which to me was the cherry on the cake to this amazing dining experience.

This is a great new restaurant. They use local ingredients in a creative way. All the dishes have a range of ingredients and they showcase local herbs and vegetables rather than treating them as just garnish. A nice night out.

Impeccable service that gives you enough space to enjoy a conversation but always close by in case you need something. Very nice atmosphere with a modern decor. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Beautiful restaurant, just make sure you eat before you go (serving sizes are quite small... Basically tasters) and the prices are expensive. I had lamb which was served as 2 (tiny) pieces of tough and bland lamb served with a butter knife... yes, I used my hands! Not even close to what I was expecting for what I was paying in terms of the food or the service. Quite disappointing -though the company I brought was great (oh, thats right, that has nothing to do with the restaurant)

It never disappoints! I went there quite often already and the seasonal menu has a great rotation. I have new options everytime I go which is very stimulating as well!

The braised lamb was good but nothing special. The arctic char was over cooked and topped with salmon egg which made it so fishy. The only thing i really like was the duck cold cut. Beautiful restaurant though and great services!

Lovely space, decor is eclectic, cozy and inviting. Definitely approachable. The menu is creative. I have been twice and both times were extremely enjoyable. The food was unique and delicious and the cocktails are interesting as well. A welcome addition to the Ottawa food scene.

Beautiful new restaurant in the gateway to the Byward Market. Incredible cocktails in an intimate setting. Highly recommended.

Very nice ambiance and decor. Delicious food done with care from a Chef with amazing talent. Service from Jerry was exceptional as well. Very attentive by all staff. Will go back.

Extremely slow for large groups. Have been there twice and probably never again.

Good price/quality ratio. Food is tastes good you pay average price for above average food.
