160 Bay St, Ottawa, ON K1R 7X8, Canada
Restaurant serving locally sourced food made from scratch.
Food was cold, the cauliflower bites tasted like old fryer oil and the bulgogi tuna was okay but honestly just missed the mark. Our server was nice enough but it took a while to get our order and bill. Maybe it’s better outside of the holiday season, because right as we were leaving a Christmas party came in. But yeah the cauliflower bites being cold + soggy + tasting like old oil just kinda ruined it for me. Cute place tho
Came earlier in the week for a work lunch and was impressed, so much so that I told my girlfriends to come for dinner. Jess was our host and server and didn't seem overly interested in doing a good job. We had to ask multiple times for water and condiments. The kitchen was out of a number of ingredients. They replaced lobster with shrimp (3.5 shrimp served for the bruschetta dish) and it cost the same amount. The amount of bacon, cheese and jam was extremely underwhelming for a $22 sandwich. There was one larger group but it was otherwise a manageable crowd. Overall, a disappointing experience made worse by poor service.
I recently came here for lunch with a few coworkers. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was delicious. We did, however, at times find it hard to hear what the others at our table were saying because of the loud music that was playing. We had a great time and enjoyed the overall experience nonetheless. I hope to visit again soon.
The Gochujang salmon looked good from the title. But when I saw that it had a turmeric sauce I thought it would either be a hit or a miss. Sadly, it was a miss. First, I’ll say the atmosphere and service were good! The waitresses were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has a nice patio facing a calm intersection. There are multiple seating areas that offer an inviting and comfortable vibe whether you eat alone or in a large group. Now, the food…The dish looked nice but did not eat well. There was too much sauce and the flavour of the sauce clashed with the rich flavour of the Gochujang salmon. Plus the sauce was heavy and overpowered anything you ate with it. The smashed potatoes were great -and I usually only like mashed potatoes! They were a bit salty but it worked well with the salmon. The dish also came with bukchoy that was fried in oil. It was both flaky and oily which I did not like. I didn’t want fried food. Overall, all of the ideas of the dish sounded nice but did not eat well.
We came for dinner on a Friday evening and had no problem getting a spot on the patio. We ordered the cod cakes and donair after seeing it on the food network as well as the pad Thai. Food was great in a relaxed atmosphere.
Attended a work event here. Food was incredible. Drink was good. It got very loud so I didn’t stay too long after the crowd arrived. But it was a great place with a lot to offer.
Dined with a large group and found the service to pretty good considering the group size. The portions were generous and the meals were delicious. Definitely would go back just the two of us to see if service would be better.
Read some reviews on Yelp about OCCO and they stated that the burgers are very good and my wife would agree wholeheartedly! She said it was one of the best burgers she’s ever had and that’s saying a lot because she is very picky about her food. I tried it and I especially loved the candied bacon!! Very tasty. I had a Cobb salad and it too was very good. Lots of chicken and bacon in it as well as other ingredients. We also tried the calamari as a starter and it was very flavorful. Also tried something new for me and that was a kombucha drink that had a very strange flavor but was good. Can highly recommend this place and we will go back again, most likely. There are many other things on the menu to try. Oh, a big shout out for the sweet potato fries too!! Lastly, the service was great also.
Odd layout of tables. Roddy crowd.
The food was not what I expected. I tried the Soba Pad Thai with chicken, it was a bit gross. My co-worker also tried it and did not like it either. Firstly, it was too spicy, the noodles tasted mushy, and it was all brown, perhaps soy sauce or something like that, there was pretty much no veggies that were visible in the pad Thai, perhaps a few hidden bean sprouts and then of course the chicken that lacked everything. Never thought Pad Thai could get this complicated, I ve had it numerous times in other restaurants and it s one of my faves. This one did not look, taste or resemble pad Thai. I also tried the Occo bowl with teriyaki chicken, this was a bit better but also not a dish I would reorder but at least it was edible. Overall, I was a bit grossed out but thankfully I survived. Also, I was a bit turned off that all their washrooms are all unisex. Sorry ladies, but you will have to drop those seats down yourself if a man just used that same washroom, which is what I had to do. Yikes!!!
Ive tried handfuls of different things off their menu for brunch/lunch/dinner and everything is always amazing! Nice atmosphere too. I just wish they would bring back the toutons for brunch! Wheelchair accessibility: Very wheelchair accessible
Food and atmosphere was great. A little noisy but it was busy
Food is bossssss....I so recommand people to hit this spot if you are ever in Ottawa.
Enjoyed my meal, staff was friendly. I had the salmon and it was great.
The service was fast and friendly, the food is your regular bar food. We had some starters which are interesting. Korean popcorn chicken, it says there is gochujang, but you can barely taste it. The occo bowl with salmon was ok, everything is very subtle. It needs more flavor.
The dining room is a little noisy, but the menu offers several options. Delicious food.
Ordered fish and chips for delivery and it didn t come with tartar sauce or any kind of sauce. Food has always been very good though
Nice place, English pub type
Went out with my gf and we had amazing service, very friendly and amazing food cant ask for more and the music old school was just a bonus smashing pumpkins in the background. Thanks!
Great burger with seasoned fries and homemade ketchup.
Had the occo burger and the candied bacon in it was the icing on top of a great burger. Upgraded $3.50 for the chowder in place of the salad or fries and the chowder was one of the best Ive tried with a good portion of seafood and great flavor!
One of the best burgers I have EVER had!! And I have eaten lots. Highly recommend :)
The burger I ordered was delicious, however, the Newfie fries were excessively salty for my palate. I rated the service two stars because the waiters were not very attentive. On several occasions, we had to obtain our own napkins and water.
Average at best. Cod cakes appetizer was flavorless, very disappointing. Niçoise salad was decent Dessert sundae was large but nothing to recommend it. Very loud when I was there, trouble hearing others at my table due to the noise.
A Taste of the East Coast at Occo Kitchen! Occo Kitchen did it again another amazing experience! If you love a maritime twist, I highly recommend trying the East Coast Donair. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, this is the real deal. Its so big youll need two hands to handle it! The donair sauce is out of this world a true must-try for any donair lover. As a side, I had the Fries with Dressing, a Newfoundland favorite. If you havent tried your fries like this before, its a game changer and yet another reason to visit. The staff is always top-notch so friendly and welcoming. Thank you, Occo Kitchen, for consistently delivering such a great dining experience! I cant wait for my next visit.
Amazing place. Love the food!
Never disappointed
Sangria y not good to sweet and watery.
The food here is delicious! I had the chicken burger and it was so moist, I have never had a burger like that before. Shout out to our waitress, Kris, who was attentive and took good care of us. I will say that it was quite noisy in there, which made it hard to have conversations. This would not deter me from going back though!
The food was incredible and service was great. The menu has so many great options that I would definitely come back again to try!
Honestly amazing, came here for a vacation and it was awesome, atmosphere was nice not perfect but very nice, but it was made up for with the service and food, less then 20 minute wait for 3 full meals, the waiters were super sweet and it was honestly a great experience 11/10 would absolutely recommend Kid-friendliness: The waiters were very fine with kids, I came here with a baby and he was a little rowdy and knocked my drink over and it spilled on one of the waiters, I apologized profusely but she was very fine and she loved my baby and laughed about it, she even paid for my drink! 11/10, your staff are super sweet
Went there for some drinks and appies. We shared some Brisket sliders, some Newfie poutine and some Asian cauliflower wings. Everything was good. I didnt taste much with the Asian flavouring on the wings so I think I would opt for a different sauce if I went again. I felt like they needed a little sweetness or tanginess. But they were still crispy and good. The sliders were good. The newfie fries were also good, fresh cut fries with good gravy. All in all a good spread. I hale from the east coast so you can tell from the menu theyve got some east coasters in the kitchen. Next time well have a meal. :)
Went there for appetizers and a drink. Waiter was fantastic didnt have a lot but was I had was good
Love the food. Great service. Great atmosphere.
Food was great, services was good. Donair was great
Salad was delicious!
10/10 would recommend. Will definitely be returning.
It was good but very loud, a few guys at the bar seemed to need to yell to communicate! Food was ok!
NATALIE IS A LIFESAVER!.MANAGEMENT QUALITY
Delicious! Great service. Thanks
Wait time is super long although the restaurant isn t half full. Food was salty, greasy and bland at the same time. $60 for two people, no drinks. Never coming back. Staff was nice though.
THIRD VISIT REVIEW: OCCO is a lively and lovely place to hang out at after work in downtown Ottawa. Close to the Supreme Court and National Archives (corner of Bay and Albert), this spot has a nice bar and a restaurant area with plenty of seating. There is a separate coffee shop area that is still in development, but you can grab a latté or cappuccino there or book the area for private functions. Or... eat outside on the patio. Food here is very good with generous portion sizes. Something you really should try is their specialty salad.. a work of food art and very tasty. Oh... and the salad is BIG. Meat is good quality... I found the burger meat to have an excellent taste. They make their own tomato ketchup for fries (but you can request a commercial ketchup if you wish). Exotic tacos... traditional fish & chips... a fish chowder that is hearty and full of flavour. Chicken burger to DIE for (homemade pickles on it... mmmm). They finally have figured out some quality deserts... making crême brulée from scratch on site... or a wonderful maple sticky pudding... I hope they keep making these on site as it adds to the dining fun and the flavor is wonderful. Full access for disabled and clean washrooms. BOTTOM LINE: I currently live close enough that I have become a regular... I highly recommend this spot for its food and, judging from the frequent special bookings, a lot of groups agree with me. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor entrance... no issues.
Meh, the food was ok, the service is ok, the cocktails were super watered down. The ambiance is just a little above downtown buildings cafeteria where you carry your own food in a tray. This place used to be a lot nicer but its clearly on the decline, which is too sad. I hope they turn it around.
When I was looking for a place to host a milestone birthday brunch for my wife I connected with Caroline. She was great to work with, gave great suggestions on how to make the event run smooth and answered all my questions. Once we all arrived her team took over making sure everyone had everything they needed to continued to work with me to make sure it was memorable day. Thanks to everyone at Occo Kitchen for haling make my wife s birthday great!
Food was good, great menu and selection but the service tonight was not great. A lot of long waits for drinks and food with very few other tables present. One dish sat under a heat lamp for nearly 15 minutes before being brought over.
Took a while to get us our food but when it did, it was alright.
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I sat down to enjoy a drink, but within less than twenty minutes, an employee told me I had to leave in ten minutes because they are last call. I felt rushed and unwelcome. This kind of service is unacceptable and left a very negative impression on me. I would not recommend this place to others.
Super friendly staff and great service.
andrea was an amazing server, SERVICE WAS GREAT. The food was amazing and she made our experience amazing.
Best fish tacos in Ottawa
OCCO Bowl was great. A little bit spicy, and I liked it Vegetarian options: Vegetarian ok, can be improved in taste, good portion size Food : 5/5 |
28 degrees in here. Orders are incorrect. Service is painfully slow. Please revisit your service standards.
The absolute best burger I have ever eaten (the OCCO burger). Side salad was crisp and refreshing, homemade ketchup for the fries was super tasty. Service was good. Definitely recommend.
Nice restaurant, great service. Food was overall good, poutine and club sandwich were a bit on the salty side
Shelby took the time to make this great little spot actually feel like it was on the coast! Friendly and fun. I wanted to try everything bit settled on Occo side salad with the Occo burger which had incredible flavours right to the last bite, which btw had a little meat, cheese and both buns, unheard of in burger creation! I started with a small bowl of chowder which blew me away, well done. Had a 3 speed lager and it was tempting to not steal the cool glass. Also yum. My friends had the pad Thai and she said the buckwheat noodles grew on her but the chicken was excellent. The other had a Cobb salad which was great. I wanted to try the Famous Bonaire, but didnt have the room for such a monster.
nice bar kitchen ... I just cross by and try the coffee.... it was good , really friendly staff
Im surprised by some of the reviews. Went there for lunch for the first time this week and I had a great experience. I tried the Bacon and Brie Grilled Cheese with the heirloom salad. It came quickly and it tasted amazing. Really friendly staff!
so good!!!! the server Kristina made our night!! such good food! our only note is please offer heinz ketchup as an option! (with the amazing fries!)
Kicking off patio season with Occo s avocado toast and poached eggs as always great food and atmosphere with Sonja, Allie, Kyle, Kris, and the rest of the super welcoming staff shoutout the kitchen crew for todays delicious work of art. Food
What an awesome experience! The Staff Sonja, Kyle, Jess, Natalie and the Chef Connor were amazing and very friendly/polite. The food was fantastic and very fast! Overall a wonderful place to go to and eat and relax with friends. Would recommend stopping by if you are ever downtown. Best wings in town!
Great experience! Our server Natalie was wonderful! I will definitely be coming back!!
We often stay at the Delta for work and have never tried OCCO (one block over) until this week. It was excellent! Natalie our server was so sweet, knowledgeable and attentive. We all enjoyed our meals. The food was reasonably priced, the atmosphere was perfect, and the staff top notch. We will be back in 3 weeks! You now have fan favourites!
ruche Tara, our server, was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. She made it a very enjoyable dining experience. :)
Had a wonderful dinner at Occo Kitchen and Bar. Food was great and service was awesome from Kris!!
Had great drinks and dinner with Kris thanks so much
Great food friendly service and willing to help you out with pricing options
My adult children treated me for Mothers Day. Brunch was excellent. Generous serving and a decent price. The decor is nice. Not too loud . The service was excellent. Also bought Newfoundland cod cakes for takeout...they were delish!
Delicious Food (Occo Burger), friendly staff and excellent service. We enjoyed our time at OCCO at the heart of Ottawa. Thanks a lot!
Nice place but the waitresses are not too quick to serve lets say. When you have to get up and go to the bar to get a beer because 25 to 30 minutes after my arrival and being directed to a table. I signaled and even went to meet my waitress to ask her to come take my order to no avail. Luckily I wasnt on my 1 hour lunch break I wouldnt have eaten.
We hosted a dinner for 30+ out-of-town guests the night before our wedding. Caroline and her team created the perfect warm and cozy atmosphere in the Cafe area, and curated a delicious menu for us with just the right amount of choices. The food was excellent, and our serving team - Kyle and Lauren - were fantastic efficient, friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Great first experience at OCCO Ottawa. I had a delicious bacon and brie grilled cheese sandwich with blackberry jam, yummy!
No complaints! Great food and excellent service!
An okay experience. We went on a Saturday for lunch but, when we got there, we were informed that they were serving only brunch. We were told, Lunch begins at 2:00. The menu options were limited, but we found items that suited us. The food was nicely prepared and it was tasty. The server was pleasant but lacked a sense of humour. I would not make an effort to return.
We ordered fish tacos and an alcoholic beverage. The food was sub par, if anything, overly greasy, and horribly overpriced!!! Service was average at best. Food
Good finger food, easy menu, pretty diversified. Nothing fancy there but enough choices for a table of 20 to choose a lot of different food.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good food
We recently held an event at OCCO kitchen at the Bay St location for a local not for profit. The event had over 60 participants and we very comfortably filled OCCOs front cafe space. The staff at OCCO were incredibly responsive to our needs and made the event planning process incredibly easy and carefree. The space was set up for the event before we arrived, and additional staff had been allocated to serve our party. The event went very smoothly and I cant say enough amazing things about the service! We ordered a range of appetizers for our group and the staff was very attentive to replenishing these throughout the evening as needed. Would not hesitate to host another event in this space - everything was great!
We enjoyed a retirement party with ten people. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive.
Food was delicious, staff were super friendly
Such a great place! The food and service are consistent. And the drink menu is broad, and includes some local favourites. They also have a nice patio in the warmer months.+
Appetizing and original plates. Beautiful presentation. Excellent service. I recommend without hesitation.
The food is really good. I ordered a fish tacos and it s fish and juicy. The fish is crispy and everything is awesome. The server is nice.
I ordered the Mac and cheese and it was so good!! The cheese was creamy and the sausage fit so well with the Mac and cheese :) I would definitely recommend this dish!
The staff is super helpful and the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere! I got the Porchetta Gnocchi and it was so good, I especially like the candied onions :)
The tacos here are really good!! Really recommend the crispy fish taco! Also, I love the atmosphere here, and the staff are super nice!!
Quick visit to a D D D spot on it way to Mont Tremblant. Good eats
Pics from the 3 times I ve been there, never regretted. It s yet my favorite place to meet my friends and have brunch.
Four of us stopped in for a bite to eat and to have a drink. There were two other customers in the whole restaurant. The girl behind the bar never acknowledged us at all while she made a drink for a guy at the bar. She then talked with another employee for 10 minutes after, still never came over and said hi or gave us a menu. We got up and left at this point. Would not recommend going here, if I could leave a negative star rating I would. The owner should be ashamed.
Everything was amazing! Went with some coworkers while on a work trip and their menu had so many options we took forever to decide. We all loved the food and service so much that we went back the next night with a larger group. Everyone loved their food and the service is wonderful! I got the birria tacos one night and the salmon and seafood linguini the next. Both were incredible. A couple coworkers got the heirloom salad and said it was really good also! Cant wait to go back next time Im in Ottawa!
Really slow service. We came as a group over lunch hour. As a group on a busy day, we expected to wait for food, but we waited over an hour to get our meals. The food was good, but we won t be back during the lunch hour since it seems to take forever to get served.
Great tacos with an east coast vibe
Jess was an absolute dream of a server. Made my experience so wonderful.
Food was excellent quality, hot and great portions. Short wait time. Atmosphere and music great. Clean and great decor. Reasonable prices. Would recommend for a group or that someone special. Can t say enough good things. Hats off to the chef!!
I really enjoyed the food here! One evening I had their donair, which was amazing and pictured in the photo below. The following night I had their spicy beef bowl which was quite good as well. Overall a great experience. I never had their Newfie fries but apparently they are the bomb!
A great place for family gatherings, a quite meal with partner or a date. One of the coziest atmospheres in Ottawa. Food is delicious and the service is good too. Vegetarian options: You can find vegetarian options at Occo Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible but no parking near it
I love having lunch here when Im downtown. A beautiful restaurant with some amazing dishes. Vegetarian options: Several great options:-)
Excellent service, food ok. It s a good spot to gather a larger group which is nice and why we decided to go there. Pork belly was way over cooked but good flavour. Other meals looked good. No complaints but nothing special. The burgers looked incredible.
Food was fantastic and affordable. (2) Short ribs were fantastic, grilled cheese with caramelized onion and sweet potato fries, crispy fish sandwich was delicious and very plentiful. $50/person included ... 1 alcohol drink, an entree, shared dessert tax and tip. We were a family of 4.
Super good experience! We went for brunch and the food was amazing! Thank you!
The food is very ordinary. Several hits and misses. I had high hopes from the previous reviews, but I found that the food was generally just ok. The Cesar salad was very good. However, my hamburger was essentially raw! I can eat medium rare, but this was too raw even for me. There is nothing exciting about this place, unfortunately, despite very good reviews.
Dietary restrictions: Provide gluten-free bread Recommended dishes
Had a delightful experience at OCCO Kitchen & Bar in Ottawa downtown. Chose this restaurant for its East Coast-inspired menu, seeking a taste of Maritime flavors. The seafood platter, fish and chips, donair and chowder didnt quite capture the Maritime essence, but the burgers were outstanding arguably the best in town. Unfortunately, the absence of the Bouddha Bowl from the veggie menu was a letdown, available only at their other Orleans branch. Nevertheless, impeccable service and a serene ambiance make OCCO a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. Highly recommended.
Welcome back to how I remember my first bite of Occo s Burger. Thanks to Alya our server who served us with a smile and was excited to go skiing, hope she has fun in the slopes! And big prompts to the boys in the kitchen, Hudson and Ali for making me relive what Occo s burgers were famous for! The last few times we came on Bay st it was always a miss, but this time the got it all right !! My Occo s burger was cooked to perfection and fries were on point. Hot and seasoned perfectly. My wife s fish burger was outstanding, thought it was the best fish burger she had. Thanks for an outstanding service and amazing food!
They accommodated a large group of us last minute (10 ppl). One server served us and she was on top of things and very friendly. The food was good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed my latte. The mimosas were laughably small. They serve you two ounces at most so I wouldn t recommend. Otherwise, fantastic experience!
The food was just OK and a bit pricey. The chocolate cake dessert was very good. The server was friendly. The beer selection was good.
Living just down the street, this has become our go-to place. The menu is unique, with something for everyone, and theres lots of vegetarian options and substitutions available that arent just salads and veggie burgers. Everyone is always super friendly and the service is incredibly fast. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options that arent just veggie burgers and salads.
A delightful evening with friends. Was able to gather and chat at the table without being disrupted. The food was good minus the miss order. However the kitchen quickly fixed this.
Loved the Hamre burger. Had a nice evening there. Staff were great too.
Very slow lunch service for all tables when at about 50% restaurant capacity. Had to bag ours and go after 35 min wait. Very sweet ceasar salad and mediocre burger.
The food is amazing, the burgers are phenomenal, excellent service from our waitress Evan...
Delicious brunch and dinner menu! I love the East Coast influence, very tasty and great atmosphere
I cant say enough good things about this place, its a true Ottawa gem. The food is amazing, all scratch made, even the ketchup. Ive enjoyed everything Ive tasted, some favorites: COBB salad, candied bacon cheeseburger, fish tacos, seafood chowder...the list goes on. Everything is fresh and tasty. The staff are all friendly and attentive and the service is excellent. We hosted a retirement gathering here for ~60 people and the space was perfect and inviting. Shout out to Stephanie who was very accomodating and happy to help make our event a success. Love OCCO!
If youre looking for an incredible dining experience, look no further than Occo Kitchen and Bar! This restaurant truly exceeded all of my expectations, and I cant recommend it highly enough. One of the standout dishes for me was the French toast, which was served with thick slices of bread that were perfectly cooked. The outside had a delicious crispness, while the inside was soft and fluffy. The toast was also generously topped with powdered sugar and served with a side of fresh berries, making for a truly decadent breakfast treat. But that wasnt the only amazing dish on the menu - the skillet was also a highlight. Served piping hot in a cast-iron skillet, this dish was loaded with tender chunks of chorizo, sautéed vegetables, and a rich hollandaise sauce. It was truly a feast for the senses, and I savored every bite. Overall, I was blown away by Occo Kitchen and Bar. The food was absolutely outstanding, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Whether youre looking for a romantic dinner or a fun night out with friends, this restaurant is the perfect choice. I cant wait to go back and try more of their amazing dishes!
Service is the slowest I have experienced, Ive been 3 times and it is the same each time..... fool me once... or how ever the saying goes.
Great looking restaurant . Location is ideal for that part of downtown. Close to hotels, transit and Lebreton.
A great time with friends, in this nice neighborhood restaurant in the city center. On this beautiful sunny day, the terrace was inviting but could not accommodate our group of ten people at brunch time. Everything is fresh and delicious and served in a warm and friendly atmosphere!!
Fast and courteous service. We finished our appetizers and the starter arrived straight away. Several options that you would see in the maritimes including donairs, crab cakes, scallops and fish and chips. To try!
Everything is good and fresh. However, you have to be patient, because even though the restaurant was not very busy, we waited for our brunch for more than an hour...
Very nice place, good service. My beer and fish and chips were great. Cesar salad was good too except they serve it with sweet maple bacon not a good mix with Cesar salad in my opinion. Other than that it s great!
My favorite restaurant in Ottawa. I go to the downtown location every time I m in town. Food is fresh and delicious, service is always friendly. There is something for everyone on the menu. Prices are really reasonable and good for adults or families. My family love it here.
We were there as a rather large group and the service we received was fantastic. The server handled the orders and getting us our food so quickly. The food was incredible and generously portioned.
Went for lunch with a small group of people. The place looked great. The menu is a bit on the more expansive side, but I will say, it was really good, and those newfi fries are amazing . You have to give it a try. Our service was not the best. Our waiter was cold and it felt like he didnt like is job. Maybe it was an off day, however, all throughout it wasnt the best experience. He was also a bit on the impatient side. This is why a 3 stars, I am hoping that it was just a bad day and that the next time I go, this doesnt happen again.
my super picky eater sons want to come back again for their breakfast meals (bacon, wedge fries, pancakes, etc), that says how good they are. Also super friendly service.
Went for breakfast, they have home made ketchup and jam. They dont have a kids menu, but they said they made kids portion and it cost 10$. The service was good and the staff friendly. They have Wi-Fi, just ask the staff for the password. Parking is on the street.
East coast doner!
Food is super consistent. Service is great
Great dinner
Unfortunately not a great experience. We were a table of 7 and our service and food was not great. It took over an hour for us to get our breakfast (all breakfast food) and people who came in after us were getting their food first. Service was extremely slow, the waitress did mention after we ordered our meals that they were short staffed however, you have to then plan for that. You shouldn t take on more than you can handle. The restaurant wasn t busy at all when we arrived so for food to take over an hour was disappointing. The food was mediocre - it seemed like it was sitting out for a while as the eggs Benedict was way over cooked and just wasn t super tasty. Can t say we will be back.
We arrived at 12 to eat brunch and didnt receive our food until 1.5 hours later. And this was only after we rushed the waitress to check on the status of our food. I understand that theyre short staffed but a 1.5 hour wait is unacceptable. No one came to check up on us unless we waved them down ourselves. I ended up getting take out for my meal as I had to go and the Eggs Benedict was overcooked. Overall a very poor experience.
I dont believe Ive tried their food yet but drinks and service were great
Went here to see Guy Fireri, sadly he wasnt there. That being said the food, service and atmosphere were excellent.
Just okay. Stayed nearby and opted to try on a Friday night. The place was nearly empty at 7pm there s lots of construction at the intersection so we thought it might actually be closed. I was lured in by online reviews of several dishes that were not on the menu (which was just a photocopied and wrinkled piece of paper). We opted to start with a simple appetizer and see what how that impressed before trying any of the mains. I had one glass of wine (partner had water). We opted to go elsewhere for an actual dinner as the appetizer was underwhelming and, again, the dishes that we had been curious about from online reviews like pork belly tacos were not on the menu. Again, Occo was okay but not worth the $55 including tip for one appetizer and one glass of Pino Grigio. We won t be back.
Ordered breakfast for pick-up and was told the order was ready. When I got to the restaurant they told me they were running behind and did not know when the order will be ready. I sat at a table to wait and after 30 minutes went back inside to see what was going on. They told me they have to cancel the order as there are too many customers and cannot accept take-out orders. I asked for a refund and they refused! I personnally have never seen such bad service and I was a regular customer (living two minutes away from the restaurant).
Awesome tacos, hard to find good birria tacos in ottawa, will be in again soon.
Went for lunch. First timer. My food was glorious and everyone else loved what they ordered. Two comments about the fish and chips to improve less salt on the fish before battering and the fries were warm but not hot. I ll be back!
Food delicious, the taste is layered, recommended, and the environment is good. the service needs to be better. After I asked the waiter for the WiFi password, she told me and successfully connected to the restaurants Guest network. However, my device could not access the Internet during the meal. The staff of this restaurant even has time to ban diners devices from surfing the Internet during meals. What is the purpose of the existence of the Guest network? So this restaurant is not recommended.
Good food but suuuuuper slow. Arrived 11:45 for a work lunch, got our appies at 12:15 and mains at 1:15. Didnt get out until 1:45/2.
Always great food and service!
This has to be one of the best restaurants I ve ever eaten in! We ordered the crispy fish tacos ($8, we forgot to take a picture), the 2 piece fish and chips with newfie fries ($25 + extra for the fries), the blt sandwich ($17), and the candied bacon cheeseburger. The BLT sandwich was definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my entire life. The candied bacon is exquisite and it paired so well with the vegetables and sauces in the sandwich. The bread has a nice thickness and my only complaint about the sandwich is that I found it a bit too greasy/buttery. The regular fries were a perfect size and had an excellent crispiness. However, I found the fries a bit too salty/seasoned (they also reminded me of the five guys cajun fries with an extra kick to it). The ketchup was unique and you could tell it was homemade because it was sweet I think. The fish was well battered and tasted great, but the newfie fries are an acquired taste (they have gravy and stuffing on them). The burger was also incredibly delicious, once again, because of the candied bacon. I highly recommend going here, especially because of the welcoming atmosphere! However, it can get quite loud during peak eating hours. Essentially, any item with the candied bacon is a must try!
Had two lovely meals at Occo. Many Gluten free options and staff very knowledgeable. Dedicated fryer so the fries are gluten free!!!!! Food was delicious. Dietary restrictions: Very gluten friendly. Dedicated fryer.
We got brunch here and it was really good. The breakfast sausage and beans in particular were much better than average. The kitchen was a little forgetful, I had to check on the whereabouts of certain items, but it all came eventually.
Some aircon would be nice, please.
Their jackfruit tacos were really good but they were pretty much the only vegetarian meal available at lunch. There was nothing else, which is odd, this day and age. Service was good, servers were attentive and ambiance was okay . Vegetarian options: Only one vegetarian option at lunch. Jackfruit tacos were very good but they need more variety in the menu.
Service and food were both fantastic, they catered to our large group and everyone left with a smile.
Such a nice place, AMAZING BURGERS! , always a nice experience!
Amazing place for food and music is great! The place made Diners drive ins and dines for a reason. 10/10 would recommend. A gem.
Great service, even better menu - lots of east coast inspired items and includes many options for vegetarians. Well thought out cocktail list. Good option for the downtown area.
The beef and other ingredients were very high quality and fresh, but personally, I was not crazy about the very sweet flavor sauce that drenched the donaire. After seeing this restaurant and their East coast donair on Dinners, Drive Ins and Dives, I had to try it out! East coast Donair - (3.8/5) -IMO the sheer amount of sweet sauce all over the sandwich overpowered all other flavors, including the wonderful flavor of the beef -all toppings were nice and fresh! -salad was good with really fancy presentation
Not great. Got delivery if fish and chips. Fries and battered fish had a very dark brown colour, with an odd sour taste. To me this seems like what would happen when fry oil is old and shouldve been changed.
Super great service, and the staff were really hustling. I had the cob salad and my wife had the beef dip which wereexcellent. Unfortunately the acoustics were so bad we found ourselves yelling at each other just to have a conversation. I feel like the staff were being let down by the experience. Sounded like a high school cafeteria at noon.
Amazing food and wonderful service. Definitely coming back next time Im in town.
Waited over an hour for lunch, refill on drink took forever. Was extremely loud.
Place was OK. My fiance and I liked the cod cakes that they are known for. Other than that, the food was very mediocre and service was OK.
Food drinks and service are always top notch!!
I had the OCCO breakfast skillet delivered and this dish really exceeded my expectations! The portion was perfect and it tasted so yummy!!
Update your menu! We went here for brunch as the menu said the Newfoundlander had toutons included. I called in advance to make sure they had room and were indeed serving toutons. We arrived, ordered drinks and food at the same time. There were 3 tables sitting at the time and only one server. Our food arrived before the drinks ( water, coffee and mimosas). The drinks came about 4 minutes after the food was placed in front of us. I ordered the Newfoundlander and it was set up like a eggs benedict without sauce. English muffin, stacked with bologna and a fish cake. Beans in a separate ramekin on the side. I was pretty confused and immediately asked the waitress about the toutons. She went and asked the chef and came back and said they removed it from the menu a few months ago and havent updated it. At this point - the entire breakfast was a let down. The waitress was friendly and offered a free beverage and even comped our bill 10%. We didnt require a discount, just an honest menu and to get what you ask for. I wont return to this location and will be extremely hesitant about returning to the Orleans location. Disappointed Newfoundlander ordering The Newfoundlander
Super tasty food! Lobster roll was great, not overly mayo ed! Portions are a bit small for the prices you pay
Went here before Bluesfest and fell in love with the tacos.
Always great service at OCCO Kitchen & Bar.
Not my fav but was recommended by the hotel
Food was great. Service less so.
Food was excellent and good service. We all had a different plate and all was very good. The bacon was really sweet maybe even too much.
Good gluten free tacos. Good allergy protocol knowledge. Seemed a little overwhelmed at half capacity. Food : 5/5
Amazing food at this gastro pub not far from Parliament! Dont walk, run to enjoy the creative menu and drink options
Regarding a review from today, August 31st, from Raji Narayan, I cant help myself. Internet world, take into consideration entitlement! If you walk into a restaurant and its busy......you have to wait. I was present and happily waited for good food and good service. If the establishment is busy and service happens quickly, Im sure youd also complain about quality! Be better, the service, staff and food is worth the wait!
My second time here and both times the wait for our food was way too long. Its been more than an hour since we placed the order and were still without food. Dont take reservations if you cant provide the service in a reasonable time. Edit: Up from 1 star. the food eventually arrived after 1.5hours. It was enjoyable (tacos, chowder, fish n chips). We were comped 50%.
Great food! Occo bowl and seafood chowder were delicious!
Logan was friendly and extremely helpful. He made our dinning experience one to remember.
All the burgers are delicious and serve staff was very polite
So friendly, and beyond delicious Occo burger!!! I wish I had taken pictures Highly recommend!!! Food
One of the very rare spots that nails everything they do. Their east coast inspired dishes are awesome, and their breakfast food never disappoints. Worth a visit for tourists or locals without hesitation.
Dropped by after a long day of research and was not disappointed! Staff was super friendly, food came up hot and fast, and overall I had a great time! Fish and chips were particularly great! Would definitely stop by again!
The food is not great but the service is good.
Great service. Generous portions
Great experience, and thank you for making a new plate/order (bacon on the hamburger) as some of us only eat kosher meat. Great ambiance & staff were very pleasant to make sure we had a good experience. Merci !
Have been wanting to eat here for a while, and was not disappointed. Had the seafood linguine which was delicious. Want to go back again and try out some of their other great food.
I went here for lunch today and arrived at noon and we ordered as soon as our drinks arrived. Our food did not arrive until 1pm. We had to ask for to go boxes immediately. Our server claimed she told us it was a long wait but she didn t, she meant to tell us but forgot. Anyway I ordered a rice bowl with spicy beef. When it finally arrived I couldn t believe my eyes. For $30, a bowl of plain white rice with no sauce, some vegetables sprinkled around (no edamame) and 3 strips of DONAIR MEAT. It was laughable and pathetic and it took an hour. I asked to speak to the manager to get some kind of explanation but he was too busy to talk to me. I left hungry at 1:15pm. Never ever, ever again am I wasting my time here.
Great service for our party. Had a spiced apple drink that was good enough to go back for itself. Was busy but not packed.
Waited for my order almost one hour, the food was not what expected, very loud and disorganised. Waste of time and money. Very overpriced.
