Go here 100% this is now my "hey you need to try this place" place . The food was so tasty and flavourful. Each bite slowed down time it felt like. My partner and I split 4 of the tapas ( we wanted to try as much as we could) and we were the right amount of full. But we couldn't say no to desert which hit the spot. I forgot to " let the phone eat first" on the first two tapas. I can not wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.
Awesome gem in Ottawa! The food was spectacular with very unique flavours. I had the Causa Vegetariana which is a cold dish full of flavour, and the escabeche (mushrooms), which was a perfect complement. My husband had the suckling pig and also enjoyed his meal very much. I only wish they would add a bit of bread because I really wanted to lick the sauce off the plate after I was done but felt it might be a bit inappropriate ; ). This would be a great place to share many little plates with a small group! Very good cocktails too! Definitely plan on going back sometime.
Lovely. Service was incredible, ambiance was perfect (we could hear each other talking, can’t say the same for most restaurants lol) the food was a mix of art and perfect combinations. As a pescatarian I had almost the entire menu to choose from. everything was so good. our server Ana Sofia was fantastic and explained everything so well. Photos included are Pulpo Al Olivo - octopus dish Escabeche - mushroom dish Ceviche Raphael - pacific lingcod Trucha - mountain trout They also gave us little free sample bites (spoon photos) which were also incredible
Nice restaurant that was recommended from bloggers for new innovations. The restaurant has an exceptional design. Though, it doesn't give me the latino vibe, the service was nice and the food was delicious. The menu is adapted for Westerners with a bit of Peruvian insights but not 100% peruvian. This is kind of elevated type. The tiradito and the ceviche was on point. Duck and lork were nice but missing the Peruvian flavors. The tamalito was a great idea to out it in a corn mold. Very delicious.
The food was good but not mind blowing. (We might be a little biased from our recent travels). The calamari was great, plantains were a little salty. We had a variety of dishes between our party 4 and my ceviche was the tastiest. The ambiance was nice and intimate but music was a little too loud for conversations. They brought out some complimentary amuse bouche which was very generous of them. The service was the most memorable part of our visit as the staff were all very friendly, attentive and kind. We're glad we experienced it and recommend everyone to try them at least once.
Rafael Peruvian checks all the boxes. Ambience and decor were fitting. All the dishes were delicious, vibrant and colourful. Loved the flavours. My favourite dish was the steak skewer. Our waiter, Francesco, was amazing too. Amuse-bouche and dessert was nice touches.
Despite the significant distance between Peru and my home country, Iran, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality of food and the warm hospitality that reminded me of my own culture. The dining experience was outstanding, from the ambiance and service to the detailed explanations provided for each dish, highlighting its authenticity and origins, which I found particularly impressive. The flavors were phenomenal, and considering the level of service, I believe the overall pricing is reasonable. However, the cost of beverages was slightly higher than expected. There were vegetarian options too. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary celebration, and I am very satisfied with my choice.
We went on a Thursday evening, and I was impressed with the atmosphere… very lively! Our server Ana Sofia (sp?) was excellent. She walked us through the ingredients on every plate that came out, which added to the experience. We were also served water throughout the evening which is always appreciated. Top notch restaurant with top service and staff. We were a pretty big group of 7, and we had a lovely table by the window (a circle). The flavours are of course out of this world! I am looking forward to going back for dinner.
This is my second time dining at Raphael s. First time I had it was when it just opened as a takeout operation out of city-center location. At the time I found it pricy for what it was. Now it s in a nice location with a fine dining vibe and it seems to have gathered decent reviews, I thought I should give it another try. Unfortunately I came to the same conclusion. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, and the complimentary amuse-bouche and petite four are nice offers, but most of our dishes are way too salty to be enjoyable. The classic ceviche was served so cold it was hard to taste the flavour. The presentation was good but it alone was not enough to justify the price. We had two appetizers/tapas, one main course and two glasses of wine. The bill came to be $140+ (on GST break and before tip) yet we were left still hungry. I feel the owner should do a better job given the price level charged.
I planned my husbands surprise party here and it was perfect! Flavia and Maria made coordinating the dinner super easy and even let some friends in early to decorate our table. We were sat at a large round table near the back of the restaurant which while open to the restaurant still felt private. The food is incredible here too! You have to try the Mahi Mahi tiradito dish (one of the best dishes Ive ever had) and the anticuchos (super tender flank steak skewers). Honestly we tried almost everything on the menu and it was all amazing, you cant go wrong with any selection! Thank you so much to the team at Raphael Peruvian Cuisine for an amazing evening, we will definitely be back soon!
Place is nice, service is standard but it was too salty and too expensive for what we got.
Im Peruvian. Heard about this place and how good it is. My wife surprised me for my Birthday. I had no idea we were going here and I was genuienly enthusiastic when we arrived. It was all down hill from here. I really just wanted to eat the great food of what is Peruvian cuisine. Instead, I got incredibly tiny servings at very high prices. The drinks took forever to arrive even though the restaurant was only half occupied. I have to say the biggest dissppointment was the pisco sour, which had too much lime juice and an egg white substitute and resulted in a chemical-soda-ish taste. I will say that the anticuchos were good, but such a small portion.
The none of the dishes were really memorable, some were badly seasoned. The ceviche we were the most excited for, but was way too sour. The fried corn was overcooked to the point where it certainly kernels were hard to chew.. The humboldt squid was cooked perfectly - very tender. But the batter was very heavy. The sous vide duck was the most disappointing. Duck itself was very plain and the piece was small. It was served with some mash that looked like a corn? When I asked about what was inside, the person serving us didn t even know and said something vague like corn.. a bunch of stuff, some potato . Bro does not get paid enough to care LOL The service was not good here either, not very attentive. For a restaurant with an upscale vibe serving non-american cuisine, they should take the time to explain the dishes, which didn t happen of course.
Amazing food highly recommend
Perfection all around Every bite was delicious service impeccable and fantastic vibe in restaurant. Really exceptional!
No to bad
We chose Raphaël for our anniversary dinner while visiting Ottawa, and we are so happy we did! Staff made our evening very special, from our greeting at the door, through to an incredible meal. Our waiter, Sean, was wonderful, describing many of the options on the menu for us. Cocktails were amazing; highly recommend the Mancora. The meal was so delicious, fresh and perfectly balanced. The highlight was the Mahi Mahi Tiradito, but everything was incredible. We will be back and we would advise anyone to visit Raphaël if you haven t yet!
The foods is soooo delicious! Great people!
I have visited twice (both times with the intention of ordering Pollo a la brassa as a takeout dish). Both experiences were lamentable. The staff were oddly behaved, almost as though I was some sort of grotesque gnome that didn t belong there. The first time, I left out of frustration and non-service. The second, I was informed that the chicken guy wasn t there. I ordered something different and waited. To make a long story short, the service was diffident at best, and not in the least bit courteous (notable as well that the lightest tip option is 20%, which is absurd given the price - $106 all in for a glass of cava and one takeaway dish with an extra side of potatoes I didn t order). I love Peruvian food, and as someone who works downtown, I want to support businesses downtown. But although the food was excellent, this attitude and price aren t good enough.
I ve been here 3 times and the food has been absolutely incredible every time. The ceviche taste exactly like the one I had in Cusco, Peru and the chicha morada and Pisco sours are so good! Absolutely love going here and such a nice atmosphere.
Fantastic evening with some wonderful friends. Service was amazing (thanks Kimia!), and food and drinks were delicious. We had a lovely time catching up, and never felt rushed to leave. Highly recommended!
Booked a table here because its recieved such glowing reviews, but we found the food to be really below our expectations! The dishes had very little flavour. The place itself feels more like a glorified cocktail bar than a restaurant, which we also didnt enjoy but thats what you get here in Ottawa so that cant be helped. The waitress also forgot our wine order and brought the food out in a strange order, with our meat dish coming out within 10 minutes with our wine being served 10 minutes afterwards and the fish dishes coming out nearly 30 minutes after that. Very strange...
The vibe is upscale, modern but comfortable. Great place for a romantic date night or with a group for a special occasion. Every single dish had interesting and delicious flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The Mahi Mahi is a must try!
Excellent all around. The ceviche, mahi mahi, cocktails, and dessert were all delicious and the waitstaff threw in a few extras as well which was a very nice touch. My only criticism is that the locro is quite pricey relative to what you get, but it still tasted very good.
Exceptional experience in September 2024 @Raphaël Peruvian Cuisine. Food was fresh, well presented and very tasty (perfectly spiced) but the highlight of our evening has been Mica ! Super service, very attentive, sooo smiley, thanks for taking the time to connect and the story shared, we really enjoyed the evening and you were a good part of it. Thanks to the cooks and Mica!!
The food and service were very good. We had an octopus appetizer that was really good. The Ceviche and pork dish (cochinillo) were delicious. I m giving 4 stars because for the price couldn t justify the cuisine and servings could have been slightly bigger. I don t think I d go back but would recommend if you want to try Peruvian cuisine.
Really good food, friendly staff and nice interior ambience. Cozy dining with comfort and well prepared dishes.
It was our first time eating Peruvian food and it was delicious. The presentation of the food was phenomenal. Our favourites were the Causa Acevichada and Tamalito de Pato (sous vide duck).
Excellent food and good service
Food was okay, overpriced for the portion size. Felt very rushed by the servers. When I made my order, the server told me to order something else that would ultimately be more expensive which I thought was unusual and put me in a bit of an awkward position with the other guests at the table . I ultimately agreed and really regretted not getting what I actually wanted to order
Amazing atmosphere. I have absolutely loved it. Transition between meals was smooth. Meals were very pleasing to the eye. Some dishes were really good. However, one or two dishes lacked the wow factor. Thus, I gave 4 stars on the food aspect. Pricing is very reasonable.
Amazing dishes, drinks and service. Have been reccomending this place to everyone and many went and super thankful to me for this recommendation.
Amazing every time. Favourite restaurant in ottawa!
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Beautifully presented dishes and excellent service. We were 6 people and my only suggestion would be to double up on the sharing dishes as they re designed for 2-4 people.
The best Peruvian restaurant in Ottawa
The food, atmosphere and service made this experience so special.
This is quite an expensive restaurant, but the food is very good. Im not sure I would recommend it because Ive had amazing Peruvian food at a much lower price point. The service was good, but do make a reservation, especially if you plan on going on one of their busier nights.
We had the fried octopus, pork, octopus risotto and 3 drinks. Drinks are all great, especially the $10 mocktail. The food was ok but not amazing: the fried octopus and scallops were a bit pasty, pork was great but beans accompanying it were somewhat bland. The octopus risotto was great but the octopus that came with felt too chewy. I would have given a higher rating had the price not been that high. At $42 a plate (pork) and $46 (squid risotto) and $20 cocktails, the standards are higher and I cant justify 4 stars. Note that the service was excellent. Our server was amazing and small amuse bouches were also provided free of charge while we waited for our food.
Great atmosphere and good, attentive service. Hadn t had Peruvian food before so we were pretty excited to try something new. Flavours were good but unfortunately most of what we tried (pulpo al olivo, conchinilla, ceviche) was overly salty and the portions were not very big. Granted, 2/3 choices were light but still were on the small side portion wise. We left mostly full but having dined in many similar types of restaurants in that price range, didn t really feel the total value was there. With all that said the staff were lovely and we would likely try this place again when we are back in Ottawa.
Fantastic food. A great way to experience Peruvian food and culture in Ottawa. Will certainly be back for more.
A wonderful and welcome change of cuisine and atmosphere for Ottawa. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was top notch.
As soon as you enter from the street, the ambiance does a great job at putting you at ease and sets the stage for the meal and drinks to come. The food is fresh and savory and the pisco cocktails are rich and flavorful. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Great experience and highly recommended to anyone wanting to explore a small slice of Peru. I look forward to returning to discover more of the menu.
One of the best restaurant Ive eaten so far. Would recommend 100%. The Mahi Mahi Tiradito is AMAZING!
This restaurant brings to your table dishes and experiences. The history and art of peruvian cuisine is absolutely unmatched and you ll find nothing less while dining here. The servers and bartenders, only make it better by ever being so kind and attentive. Highly recommend, and MUST try Mahdi Mahi tiradito.
It was a lovely fine dining experience.
An absolute gem! I truly thought I had left a review but apparently not. So, here we go. I came across Raphaël on a trip to the city and went with my gut. It was closed at the time, so I came back for dinner. The entire experience was magical from the start to the end. Mica welcomed me and seated me. She then proceeded to answer all my questions happily, never once seeming put out or put upon. though, Im not usually a beverage fan, upon her recommendation I made an exception and went with Chicha Morada. And am I glad! The drink was a perfect blend of sweet with a hint of tang and beautifully infused spices. Then came the food. There was a fair amount of vegan options and they even offered to make a couple of other dishes vegan. Ultimately, I ordered the vegan version of cochinillo, which was scrumptious! Also wholesome and filling without being heavy. They even served me a complimentary appetizer made of cantaloupe. Equally delicious. And all this while being seated in a beautiful setting while the lights twinkled and glowed merrily. Everything from the service to the food and the genuine warmth accorded made me feel special. This was my first taste of Peruvian cuisine but certainly not the last if Im in the city again. Thank you to all those who make Raphaël what it is. And thank you, in particular, to Mica for being delightful, to another server who brought me the appetizer (but whose name I sadly do not know) and to the chef(s) who whipped up the repast. Thank you!
Inspired fusion tapas with perfect flavour balance. The mahi mahi and beef flank skewers are particularly great. Likely the best restaurant meal weve had in Ottawa in 10+ years!
Lovely restaurant great food, and great service we will return.
Wow what great food. We tried a few dishes..they were all amazing. So beautiful too. Great place to share some food and drink!
My daughter, husband and I had the great pleasure of dining at Raphaels last night. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. We ordered three tapas: the squid, polpo and beef skewers- each was absolutely delectable! The flavours, seasoning and execution were outstanding! We thought there was no way the principal dishes could surpass the entrées, but we were wrong! The Cochanillo (suckling pig) was succulent served in a delicately spiced sauce and the Lombo saltado (braised beef tenderloin) melted in your mouth. This was one of the best meals weve ever had anywhere! The freshness and quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef are evident. And the fact that the staff were friendly and the location lovely makes this a truly amazing place. Absolutely craveable- cannot wait to go back!
I thought it looked pricey at first but the quality is top notch and 100% worth the money. Flavors were amazing. Highly recommend.
Pairing of certain entrées with sides I felt didnt compliment each other well as it could have, but still remained delicious. Mahi mahi and cerviche were quite sour which Im not accustomed to, but made right for those who like it. Squid ink octopus risotto was very good. Never had such tender octopus before until now. Id go back for seconds.
Great service, food is amazing, their staff is so nice, thanks to Francisco for making our experience even better, would definitely be coming back here, the drink are top top!!
Amazing!
Fantastic meal! Loved it. It was delicious. Very tasty. Worth every penny. The Pisco sour was excellent as well. I definitely recommend.
The flavours are bold and fresh and contrasting in a perfectly balanced way. The seafood is light. The service is excellent. If you want a recommendation, the mahi mahi tiradito is incredible if you like the flavours of ceviche. Specifically for the seafood dishes, this is currently my favourite restaurant in Ottawa.
Raphael is an absolute gem in Ottawa! The Ceviche was a masterpiece - fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. And the Pisco Sour? Pure perfection! Our server, Francisco, was outstanding. His warm hospitality made our dining experience even more special. I highly recommend Raphael for an authentic taste of Peru!
The food was very good. Service was slow and mediocre. Empty cocktail glass stayed on the table for a while, empty dishes even more. I was ready to order dessert but server didn t pass by for 15 minutes. We had to leave and asked for the bill, waited another 15 minutes for it. They should check their reservation system. Received a text that our table was ready 22 minutes before reserved time. Reply 1 if you re on your way . I am, but driving, with phone in the purse. Most probably not their target clientele.
Nice restaurant, great food, good vibes. Definitely recommend
The music and ambiance were really good. I loved the fact that the background music was in spanish. Good taste but overpriced. We couldnt find the trout on the Causa, the taste was good but it was like having a very good and well spiced potatoe. I was so excited to have the Ceviche, but it had more onions than protein. It was delicious, though. I recommend people try the restaurant, but Im not sure we will be back.
dessert was great but the rest of the menu was alright
Fabulous meal. Creative fusion of Peruvian and local Canadian ingredients! Yet preserves an authentic take on Peruvian cuisine. Loved the pulpo dishes. Trout and quinoa was perfect. Real pisco sours! Chef worked at world famous Central resturant in Lima. Highly recommend. Food
Another terrific dinner at Raphael, one of my very top favourite restaurants in Ottawa. From the fresh, new and tasty ingredients to the presentation, service and ambiance. Hard to beat. I should also mention their cocktails are amazing!!!
I d like to give the restaurant a higher rating, but unfortunately can t because I got food poisoning there that took over a week to recover from. Maybe my stomach is more sensitive, but I still didn t expect food poisoning especially from a good restaurant and I haven t been this sick from food in 15+ years. We had the vegetarian causa, squid risotto, and suckling pig. I also had the sour sop cocktail. They were all delicious, but unfortunately something must ve been undercooked or have gone bad to give me such bad food poisoning.
Centretown is lucky to have you! I love Peruvian food, and Raphaël delivered the most delicious Peruvian dishes, while adding an amazing atmosphere and excellent and friendly service to the experience. We tried three different tapas (crispy squid, beef skewers and causas) and one of my favorite Peruvian dishes, lomo saltado, everything was the cocktails were also amazing and unique. We also got to try suspiro limeño and some coconut pinapple sorbet! This is a beautiful place to celebrate and have a lovely dinner. Let s support Raphaël so they thrive and we can get more and more beautiful restaurants downtown!
My experience lastnight was outstanding. This is by far one of the best restaurants in Ottawa. The food was INCREDIBLE! Do not wait to experience this gem. You will be blown away.
The food was plated beautifully. The flavours were amazing. I was blown away!
The most caring, hospitable and absolutely amazing team! I decided to have my bday party at Raphael and it was amazing!! We had a custom menu and empanadas were super tasty, salads, meat, fish, deserts - everything was outstanding!! Service and attention to detail was superb !! Carina organized my menus and flowers and is the smartest, kindest and sweetest person!!! Please consider Raphael for your events, you won t regret it
100% original Peruvian food authentic flavor favorite dishes anticuchos, causa acevichada, lomo saltado and tiradito. enjoy to the fullest.
Amazing food, cant be more tastier! I enjoyed every bite. Sucks I couldnt lick the plate.
Phenomenal food, exceptional service, lovely ambiance. Francisco was our server tonight and he was an absolute delight! Helpful, knowledgeable, charming, passionate and oh so sweet! What a wonderful human! Although we had no allergies in our party tonight, Francisco asked if there were allergies that needed to be managed when we ordered. The food every bite was an explosion of flavour. My mom, my sister, my son and I shared plates from the tapas menu as well as one from the Classico menu. We had the Mahi mahi, the trout, the causa vegetariana, the squid and the Lomo saltado which came with the roasted garlic rice. Everything was amazing. My sister ordered the soursop and mint drink which was also so flavourful and refreshing. We had to order dessert once we saw the menu the verano en la selva and the chocolucuma were both fantastic. Our first taste of Peruvian food and it was an amazing experience. Highly recommend!
Tried this place for the first time and it might possibly be my new favourite restaurant in the National Capital Region. From start to finish, everything was phenomenal. Our table sampled each others drinks and entrees, and we were blown away by all the unique flavours and presentation offered in every dish. Great spot for special occasions.
I dined here with three family members last night to celebrate a special occasion, and we were all blown away by how exceptional the food was. The ingredients were fresh and unpretentious, yet each dish combined them in a way that allowed for complex and exciting flavour profiles. We shared multiple dishes, and every menu item we tried was as fantastic as the last, including: Mahi Mahi Tiradito, Humboldt Squid, Antichuchos, their fresh bread rolls and butter, Ceviche Raphael, Lomo Saltado, and the Dona Manuela and sorbet postres. Fish is not usually my first choice from a menu, but the Ceviche Raphael was so good, I think it may have altered my brain chemistry. We were a table of well-travelled foodies, and the quality of Raphaël Peruvian Cuisines plates truly impressed us. The service was also absolutely lovely, as Kimia and other members of staff took great care of us throughout the meal. We will definitely be dining here again.
Perfection all around. The food, ambiance and service are all outstanding. The flavour profiles in each dish were out of this world. What an incredible chef! Book a table!
I never had Peruvian before and have clearly been missing out! This restaurant is so special, and every single item was unique and delicious. None of us could decide what was the best because everything was perfect!
The food itself was good, but the service was one of the slowest and inattentive one Ive ever experienced in my life. For the level this place positions themselves its unacceptable
An absolutely incredible meal, beautifully plated and delicious. Instantly my favourite spot in the city - Ottawa is so lucky to have these folks.
Authentic Peruvian foods with a great atmosphere and fantastic service. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing. I will definitely come back. The waitress was very nice and explained the dishes to us and the history of them. The only reason I didn t give it 5 stars is because the hostess was a bit unprofessional or maybe not trained enough. I called the restaurant to let them know we were running 10 minutes behind. We arrived, and the young lady walked us to our table. It was very small, so I asked her if we could get a bigger table since the other side of the restaurant had about 6 8 large tables available. She responded to me by saying, No, I m sorry, but since you are late, I can t give you a bigger table. That made absolutely no sense to me. If a table is available with no reservation, you should always accommodate your customers. We were there for almost 2.5 hours, and not one of those tables got occupied. I really wanted to bring this to her attention, but my boyfriend just asked me to let it go. I think she needs training but besides her rudeness everything else was 10/10!
As a girl who is often underwhelmed when trying new and recommended restaurants. I can enthusiastically say wow! The food is sublime. The presentation elegant the flavors an absolute delight. Every bite is unique, delicate, and surprising in texture and taste. The staff are enthusiastic, informative, and all service came with beautiful smiles. Peruvian cuisine at its finest. I am obsessed! Can t wait to go back
Only thing thats wasnt great was the price but even then for the quality of food it was definitely worth it. The humboldt squid was absolutely fantastic and im not a fan of squid will definitely be back to try the lomo saltado and squid again.
Absolutely incredible, went in with no expectations and were extremely impressed, the food blew our minds and the cocktails are great. The Mahi Mahi dish alone is worth a visit but everything was exceptional.
My partner and I had an excellent birthday celebration here. The food was incredible, and the service we received was above and beyond. Admittedly the prices are a bit high, but for a special occasion its the right place to be !
Amazing!! Highly recommend this restaurant!
A discovery. Well decorated restaurant. Very pleasant. The server was very friendly. A subtle play of flavors to discover. Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy to access by wheelchair!
This restaurant is phenomenal. The food is unique and exceptional. The service is out of this world. Always a wonderful experience.
The food was delicious. The service was friendly, and the cozy atmosphere added a special touch to the evening. I will definitely be back soon.
This place is absolutely phenomenal! Between the authentic artisan Peruvian dishes, the extensive cocktail and wine list, tremendous service from the front of house staff, I know where Ill be eating again whenever I want to treat myself to an amazing experience. Unfortunately, Google only lets me give 5 Stars, where if I could, Id give like 30.
The food was extremely delicious and we really enjoyed the pre dinner bites, however, the service was extremely slow and that threw off the whole dinner. The place is also too pricey in my opinion.
We tried this restaurant to have a different taste in Canada. It was amazing! From the amouse bouche on, every dish presented in a superb way and with a particular and elegant taste. You could really feel Peru inside!
If you pass through Ottawa, stop at Raphaël. A Peruvian restaurant of very high standard, with simplicity and humility to boot. The cuisine is delicate, fresh, full of nuances and details. The chef and his team are wonderful people.
The mahi mahi tiradito was *phenomenal*. Likely the best in Ottawa (not that there are many other options for Peruvian, but still). The Cochinillo was super tender, but the carapulcra stew it came in was a tad too salty. Then again it was well balanced with an absolutely fantastic passionfruit dressing on the side salad it came with - it only could have used a little more of the salad to balance. Grilled octopus was a tad too chewy - not too much, but disappointing for a nearly $50 entrée. Desserts were on point. Usually I would not comment on much other than the food and service - but I have to say I have never sat on a more uncomfortable chair at a restaurant in my life. If you have back problems make sure you sit on the upholstered side. A great resto, but small areas for improvement. Would come back and try more of the fish dishes for sure. Parking: Park at City Hall lot
OMG this place is excellent! Pricey but worth it. The smell from outside makes your mouth water. I had the Humboldt squid and anticuchos and they were fantastic. Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: There are many delicious vegetarian options.
Phenomenal meal, fresh and so delicious. Service was friendly and professional too! I think this is the best restaurant in Ottawa!
The food was absolutely delicious. I couldnt choose one particular dish that I liked the most. From all that we have ordered, everything was exquisite & perfectly paired with a great wine.
We arrived at 9:55 pm, the kitchen was closing. They accepted to serve us. A group of 6. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. 10/10
The restaurant offers food that is a very nice change, with unique flavors and choices. We all enjoyed our mix of shareable plates and main courses. I found the shareable plates were the size I would expect, they are not intended to be a main course. The service is very, very attentive and the servers are very knowledgeable. I would recommend this restaurant for a special meal.
Theres one thing to pay a big premium amount for good food and be left filled and satisfied and then its another to do so and then be served with ridiculously small portions. Ordered multiple dishes and clearly all the effort went into their design and aesthetic. They are just trying so hard to be one of those fancy restaurants which serve small but decorative foods and charge crazy Couldve payed the same amount somewhere else and eaten so much better. In terms of the taste it was just average peruvian food - same stuff you can find anywhere else. Also like the smallest menu I have ever seen at any restaurant; think we ordered half of it in total. This goes to show how profit focused they are as opposed to food focused as they dont have to spend as much on ingredients. All this is is high prices, small menu, and small portions which is just a restaurant strategy to rip people off and gullable people fall for it and truly believe this is a fine dining experience. Definitely do not reccomend.
Delightful experience. My sister lives in Peru so was excited to give it a try. We shared a collection of dishes, avoiding fish dishes due to an allergy. All delicious, highly recommended a side of extra potatoes. We also ordered all three homemade sauces- added a lot of additional flavour to the dishes (yellow pepper the best, red pepper gave spice, purple coloured olive dip complex. It s a bit pricy but nice for a special meal out.
Wonderful spot! We stopped here tonight on a whim and were pleasantly surprised so many wonderful flavours! I lived in Peru and had some nostalgic expectations in terms of options and tastes, and they were all delightfully met (minus the papas a la huacaina being no longer available hope they come back!) highlights included the clove-y chicha morada and soursop drinks, the lomo saltado and the causa vegetal I highly recommend ordering the side sauces, all of them were amazing but especially the olive one and the aji amarillo also we ordered a side of potatoes and they were INCREDIBLE uniquely creamy interior and delicious crispy almost caramelized exterior do yourself a favor and get them we also really enjoyed the verano en la selva dessert the soursop mousse was almost savory so interesting! Great place to go and share a few dishes we were three people, got two appetizers and a main with the side of potatoes and a dessert, all to share and it was perfect for us. I am allergic to fish and shellfish and they were happy to accomodate where they could. Great service as well our server was very friendly, and despite being very busy she went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend this place, and we will definitely be back! Dietary restrictions: I am allergic to fish and shellfish and they accommodated to make the lomo saltado without oyster sauce
Peruvian cuisine is my favorite and I was surprised to see an upscale Peruvian restaurant in Ottawa on my last visit here. I had to book a table right away and my expectations were met. I have to admit - the ceviche was quite subpar and I wouldn t order it again, having had ceviches all over the world more times than I can count. The ceviche here lacked in authentic flavour and was egregiously oversalted. The rest of the food, however, was delightful - we really liked the anticuchos which were very flavourful. We liked that the food was authentic with real Peruvian sauces made from scratch.
An absolutely stunning restaurant with the most amazing food and accommodating staff. Everyone we interacted with was so kind and knowledgeable. There were four of us and we all LOVED everything from the food to the cocktails and wine. The aesthetics were a 10/10. Highly recommend.
We started with 2 small plates...squid/scallops and Causa Vegetariana. Both delicious and the Vegetariana was so fresh and yummy I could have made my whole meal from that alone. We shared Cochinello as the main, which includes pork belly on potatoes and a gorgeous side salad, although there is a vegan version if needed. We ordered and shared 2 desserts rather than sharing 1 because they all sounded great. And we were not disappointed. The crema volteada was the best custard Ive had, and the dona Manuela was so good we might have fought over it if we ever fight. The Soursop Mint mocktail was a refreshing drink. Missed photos of the small plates because we ate them too fast. Staff was excellent. Our 1st course was a little delayed as they had to redo due to allergies, but we didnt mind. One of the best meals and we have gone to a lot of restaurants.
Such tasty food. Our party of 4 ordered tapas and shared them. Each one was a party of flavours. And I sipped my Pisco Sour very slowly to savour it deliciousness. Will definitely return.
The food was great would recommend
Two of four meals were superb, one mediocre, one not good. Service was poor. Had to leave the table to go in search of our server who was standing at the bar chatting with staff. They ran out of two of our beverage choices before our 6:00 p.m. reservation. Music was too loud, everyone speaking in raised voices to be heard. Cavernous space. Overpriced. Sadly disappointed and won t go back.
Highly recommend the causa vegetariana! Both well-presented and delicious. The rustic potatoes + sauces are also excellent. Also has a lovely patio. Vegetarian options: Causa vegetariana and two other vegetarian tapas, and a vegan main. Was all tasty and very filling.
The food was awesome! Fresh and very flavorful. We shared 7 of the 10 appetizers along with bread, for a group of 4. Absolutely amazing food. The service need improvement. Sat at our table for 15 mins before we got any attention. No water, No drinks, nothing until 15 mins. We ordered everything we wanted at the same time Food came before any drinks. Kind of strange. Aside dropping food off, we didn t receive much attention. Couldn t get another drink (we went elsewhere for that), no checking in. So - it was a mixed bag. Amazing food, just need more staff or a better training program to ensure customers are treated as upscale as the food they are paying for. Might go back.
Our experience at Raphael Peruvian Cuisine was simply spectacular. From the moment we walked in to the last bite, every aspect of our visit was a celebration of authentic and delicious Peruvian cuisine. To start, the Mahi Mahi Tiradito was a brilliant suggestion from our waiter. The freshness of the fish combined perfectly with the sauce, creating an explosion of flavors in every bite. The presentation was a work of art in itself, with thin slices of fish elegantly arranged on the plate. The Anticuchos, those skewers of marinated and grilled meat, were a true pleasure for the palate. The marinade provided a delicious flavor to the meat, accompanied by potatoes with chimichurri, brussel sprouts and a spectacular sauce! The anticuchos made me feel like I had been teleported to Lima! Grilled Octopus is a dish that requires skill to achieve the perfect texture, and at Raphael they have mastered it. The octopus was tender, the Ink Risotto was irresistible. We also tried Suckling Pig, a classic of Peruvian cuisine. The juicy meat and combination of spices in carapulcra make it a truly memorable dish. All in all, our choice of dishes at Raphael Peruvian Cuisine was excellent. Every bite was a sensory experience that exceeded our expectations. From the freshness of the ingredients to the skill in preparation. Definitely 100% recommended! Next time we are going to try the Octopus al Olivo and the Lomo Saltado!
Perfectly seasoned, bright and citrusy dishes. Sat at the bar, had excellent Pisco sours, tried quinoa beer, loved every dish, and dessert was stunning. The tamalito, the passionfruit vinaigrette, Peruvian fried potatoes, and especially the rockfish tiradito. A perfect meal with fantastic service in a fun and bustling environment. Cant recommend enough.
The atmosphere was gorgeous! The server was so knowledgeable and fun! Provided great recommendations and the food was top notch! Loved everything from the tapas, mains, and dessert! Food
I must be getting old and these price are going well over my head... This is a very good place and I was looking forward to try it. I dont want to take anything away that it deserves. And we liked the food. Very, very much! The food is great!!! But the prices literally left us hungry in the end...3 small tapas and a ceviche main which is small, 3 drinks and $200+ later we ended up ordering a satisfying poutine at the hotel bar to fill that empty hole that the restaurant left behind. Should a better value be put forward by the magnificent Raphael (with two fancy dots over e) well be sure to return. Until then, if you dont care for the money be sure to visit them and youll have a great time guaranteed!
Wow, what an experience. Thank your to the entire crew at Raphaels for making our night incredible. Outstanding service, and quality. But most importantly, you can see how much care and detail is put into every part of the dining experience. Definitely, returning very soon!
Great service, atmosphere and amazing food!
Delicious food, especially the Mahi Mahi Tiradito and the Anticuchos. Try the Pisco Classico cocktail. Will definitely be back!
Very delicious food. A bit price but worth it to go on a special occasion. The ceviche was supposed to be a main but it was more like an appetizer portion wise, the lomo saltado, anticuchos and the pulpo al olivo were very delicious! are toDesserts a bit pricy but very special. Very good service and friendly staff.
The food is on the expensive end but the flavor and quality comes through in most dishes. The service was decent but not at the level youd expect at an upscale restaurant. As a vegetarian, I had reasonable options with good and unique flavors. I tried the causa vegetariana and the pachamanca. Though, my partner got the octopus appetizer, which was good, and the ceviche, which didnt quite hit the mark. This is something he was really excited to try, as a Peruvian and restaurant speciality but unfortunately, it lacked quality, flavor, and authenticity. A big portion of the ceviche was just raw onions which was disappointing. The dessert was delicious and our overall experience was good. Not sure if we will go back but it was worth a try!
We went to this restaurant on a Monday evening and we were a group of 5. The atmosphere was amazing and the wine selection was great. The food was really amazing and provided all with some cool and interesting options. I will go back as I would have ordered the entire menu.
One of Ottawa s best restaurants!
Great food. But quite expensive.
One of the best new-ish restaurants in Ottawa. Amazing and unique flavours with exceptional service - a stand out today when eating out!
Dietary restrictions: The staff work as a team. Super friendly polite and genuinly look and act like the love workin here. The mahi, beek skewers and casa veg dish were delicious. The. Meringue and fig dessert were. Well balanced. Very knowledgeablee about gluten free ption. The food was flavourful , dynamic plating and complexe Flavors. Amazing experience. Recommend to all.
Shared 3 small plates with my husband. Great portions. The Mahi Mahi starter and octopus potato starter are pictured here. The vegetable starter was also fantastic. They missed one of the dishes we ordered, but didnt follow up because we were on a tight timeline. Im sure they would have graciously made up for it as service was otherwise top notch. I would definitely go back. Highly recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Raphael. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive from the moment we entered the restaurant until we paid our bill. This is one of the better restaurants in Ottawa. The quality, taste and the presentation of the food was superb.
The food was delicious. Our server was very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was excellent.
Incredible flavours will definitely return. Outstanding service with some mini treats before and after your meal. Try the ceviche and the anticuchos and the shrimp risotto. The desserts were super tasty too. It s just wow.
My taste buds had a great party last night. The food has so much flavor that I have not had anything like this for a long time. Lomo Saltado and Mahi Mahi Tradito were our absolute favorites. Fyi, 3 plates are enough for 2 people. Highly recommend!
Delicious place with a great atmosphere and obvious passion for the food theyve created. I would definitely recommend!
I would ask them one question. Do you check for toilet paper before or after? You need to disclose if you dont accept something (Amex) before not after. Please disclose what you accept and dont. Your website does not state anything nor any of your staffs at the time of entry. I have seen business disclosing that they dont accept debit/credit or there is a fee if they do.
I made a reservation for a birthday party well in advance. When I called to change the number of people on the party, the manager says You claim to have a reservation? And apparently no one has a clue. So whoever took down my reservation forgot to put it down, which is a shame. I really wanted to try this place. I guess I wont be coming back.
The ceviche was disappointing. It was over 30 bucks and definitely not kept up to the expectations. The arroz con camarones on the other hand was really good. Drinks wise, the pisco sour cocktails are really good ! And the service was really good too m
Best culinary experience had in a long time! Thank you, Mika, youre such a kind, welcoming and knowledgeable hostess!
I can t speak of this restaurant highly enough. I felt extremely welcomed as a solo diner by the staff. The amuse bouche was a lovely surprise and full of flavour. Tapa I ordered came out with such a delicious aroma and the flank steak was so tender. Loved all the flavours on the plate. The dessert was 100% with it and the surprise of the petit four completed the course. The petit four were the perfect one bite blast of flavour to end the dining experience. Looking forward to going back with some friends. Make sure to reserve before going, I was lucky coming in solo and earlier on in the evening!
Memorable food, very high prices so both memorable. Would I come again? Probably not. Will I remember the experience? Absolutely. A restaurant should know when too much is just too much repeat customers are the engine of a good business. Unless you re expensing such dinners, it makes little sense to experience it as a family - even as one who could afford such occasional treats. Thanks to the Chefs nevertheless . I wish I were less conflicted about this review.
The chef is an artist. Super refined and modern but very faithful to traditional Peruvian flavours. The ceviche was out of this world and so was the octopus and the soursop meringue.
The food was good, but it was freezing in the dining area. The tables are crammed together, so you can t sit comfortably.
The expensive and salty ceviche without any taste of Leche Tigre, the grilled octopus horrible and salty. This restaurant is a disappointment for Peruvian food.
Our first time earing Peruvian food in Ottawa s downtown Elgin st. Very tasty and great atmosphere
I ve been to Raphael twice now and every time it s a delicious experience. The pisco sour is a go to, perfectly tart and not too sweet. The Arroz con Camarones (shrimp) is delicious on a bed of lobster reduction risotto but the real star of the show was the Mahi Mahi tiradito. Honestly one of the best plates of food I ve ever had. The sauce is to die for. Highly highly recommend a visit to this fine restaurant.
What a beautiful surprise! The decor is beautiful, great service and the food was amazing. Rich flavours, great portions. Our table of 7 split 4 appetizers and each got our own main courses. All 7 of us left incredibly happy with our experience at Raphael s. I will highly recommend this restaurant to my network.
This is a place everyone in Ottawa needs to check out. The dishes were absolutely delicious. Couldnt have asked for better service or food. New to the ottawa food scene for me after being away for a few years. Definitely coming back here
Amazing food and great service.
Worst service. Made reservations for dinner and no table available when we arrived. Horrible experience and ruined our birthday plans.
Absolutely delicious! Each dish was so flavourful, well plated and complex. Can t wait to come back :)
Our experience at Raphaël was exceptional! Every single detail was considered; the service, ambiance, decor, plating and flavours were incredible. Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing mid-week reset at its finest!
The food it s amazing, the drinks are ok I always get excited for food in this place, drinks are not that good, but the environment and service are great also
One of my favorite restaurants in Ottawa. I love the design and taste of the dishes. It has a very nice atmosphere.
We went to Raphael to celebrate a friends birthday. It is on the pricey side, but the food was outstanding.. would have liked the portions to be a little bit bigger for the amount they charge for each dish. We got the pisco sours and they were really good. We got the Humboldt squid and the anticuchos for apps. The sauces were excellent, all the elements on the plate were phenomenal. We got the ceviche and the pork belly for mains. The food was really really good. Service was amazing. The place is so nicely decorated. I think well be back to celebrate more occasions for sure.
My wife and I came with high expectations. We were given a great recommendation for this place and we were excited to try something different in Ottawa. We ve both had Peruvian food in other cities and love the cuisine. Unfortunately, It was a very disappointing experience from a food, service, and even ambience perspective. We had reservations the day after Valentine s Day, and we arrived to a busy restaurant. They had some empty seating around but the server decided to seat us at a very small table (so small it was difficult to fit our food and drinks at times) right by the door. The door kept opening as guests entered and left, so there was a cold draft throughout the evening. There was a heater beside us, but it wasn t working well and kept shutting down every minute or so (I actually had to keep turning it back on every 3 min or so). We wouldn t complain about this normally as it s not something they could help at the beginning. But as the evening wore on, and they clearly saw us sitting uncomfortably. No one offered us to sit at a different table. Or bring over a working heater from a different part of the restaurant. Attention to detail like this at the prices they charge (putting them in the higher end category) is important. Next the food which was the most disappointing. Everything was seasoned a bit too heavy handed. There were some bites that were tasty but as others have noted, the ceviche was unbalanced. Their squid that you can add $12 for hakaido scallops was basically an overpriced calamari. We felt bad for such a wonderful ingredient like the scallops to be deep fried. The best part about the flank steak was probably the potatoes (cooked perfectly), but something just didn t seem right about the rest of the dish. The arroz con camarones was also very salty, and it over powered the blue shrimp. Our server was very sweet and nice. But quite honestly, she seemed a bit inexperienced. Our plates and utensils were not exchanged after the first course until she brought the second course out. There was almost 30 min between the 2 courses, so plenty of time to exchange them. Exchanging them after you bring out the food, just lets the food get cold while we waited for them. Overall, we just found that the prices commanded at this restaurant were too high for the quality of food and service. We want a restaurant like this to thrive in Ottawa, which is why we ve left our honest feedback.
Came here for my bf s birthday and the food was spectacular! Our server was attentive and service was great. Bit on the pricey side but the flavours justified it. Would definitely go back!
Had Dinner here last night, the food was amazing, we did shared plates so we could taste more items. The service was friendly, fast and answered all our questions. When food was brought to the table it was all explained to us as to what we where eating. All the dishes we had where amazing and like nothing we have had before. I have to point out the dessert Flan with Orange sauce is divine on of the best desserts I have ever eaten.
Fabulous
This has to be one of my favourite places in Ottawa. From the beautiful, calming interior; to the fantastic food, Raphael is the spot! I had the rockfish tiradito and the braised chicken dish, both were bursting with flavour and were phenomenal. The staff were friendly, although didn t check on the table too often but regardless they were good. The menu is amazing, I had a hard time choosing what to eat, all of the items looked delicious. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, especially if you re looking for a cuisine not often found in Ontario.
One of the best restaurants in Ottawa!
Truly a hidden gem! I had read the reviews prior to my reservation, but the food/service/atmosphere exceeded my expectations. The flavour profiles of each dish were amazing, with layers of flavour. The drinks were amazing, and the service was wonderful. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful. The decor and styling is very well done, and the atmosphere is great for an intimate dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant - dont sleep on it!
Great eatery for a fancy night out to celebrate something in downtown ottawa. Very good seafood options
My girlfriend and I have gone here now twice and the first time was for her birthday. It was a great experience and service as top notch. I forgot to leave a review last time, but today we went again and let me tell you somehow they topped our last experience. She(my gf) is a food snob and from her mouth said this is the best ceviche I have ever had . That says it all. Long story short this is no doubt a must try place!
Raphael was a pleasant surprise! Delicious food, great service and atmosphere, all around excellent experience. We eat out often and this was our favorite meal out in a while!
Great culinary experience with this Peruvian cuisine that I was discovering for the first time. Very good service with Sean who took great care.
Outstanding culinary experience. Wide array of outstanding dishes for either vegetarians or meat-eaters. However service may benefit from improvement, especially given the expensive menu. Atmosphere loud and decor inconsistent with food pricing.
That was incredible!!!! Was my first time trying Peruvian cuisine, and i m happy i had such an amazing experience. The food was excellent, deserts as well. Their seafood is so delicious! Special thanks to our server Mica, she provided us outstanding service, educated us about the geography of their cuisine and explained everything that we had in our plates. Excellent!!! 10/5!
Had a wonderful time at Raphaels. First time at this new location on Elgin. Our Waitress Mika was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain the dishes and the inspiration of the culinary experience we were having and I appreciated the extra knowledge. The food definitely did not disappoint! The Pisco sours were also a must try! Only thing I do feel like most of the tables are a tad bit small and close to each other. Will come back :)
The food here is incredible. Service was excellent. Overall a really great experience.
Glad to have stumbled on to this place on Google while looking for top restos to eat at in Ottawa. The cocktailswere so flavorful and chilled to perfection that I had to taste almost every one on the menu. The food was as explosion of new flavors that I will be back to enjoy. The service was genuine and the server asked all the right questions to make sure this was the perfect dining experiences for my wife and I. All in all this could be the best restaurant I have ever been to in Ottawa.
Good but way too expensive
Incredible food. I had mostly sea food dishes and I was floored. Beautiful restaurant as well. This place is a gem and very well worth it. Highly highly recommend!!!
Delicious and favorable food. Our waiter Rafael was very knowledgeable about the ingredients. The ceviche and rockfish very yummy. Their desert with the wafer, pistachio meringue and geleto was delish.
One of the best food experiences in Ottawa. Great atmosphere, excellent staff and amazingly delicious dishes. The slow-cooked lamb shank was packed with flavours. The pistachio soursop desert was irresistible! Would definitely go back.
Wow! What a special dining experience. Every dish impresses. Excellent service by the beautiful Georgia. This is not a cheap meal! Expect to pay higher prices for medium size dishes, but this is not to be missed.
It was great. Beautiful restaurant, good service, amazing food! I highly recommend.
Yesterday evening I ordered the lomo saltado (medium rare meat) and got the Tourista (diarrhea as they call it in Mexico) the whole night. I am a frequent traveler to Mexico and even eat street tacos without getting sick. I use to like Raphael when it was a small place in Hintonburg. This was a disappointing experience. Also the place was very noisy, we could hardly hear each other at our table. The food was expensive too. A glass of simple Tempranillo wine for $15. Also upon double checking out our receipt now I can see that they charged us for additional meals and dessert that was not ordered by us. Bad experience.
While the food is not bad, I personally think its very much overly priced for what you get. The portion is so small while you pay over 30 dollars for one main dish. In addition, for the price that you pay, I would have at least thought that we would get fresh ingredients; but the squid were definitely not fresh and the beef from the anticucho was not tender.
Raphaël offered us a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. First and foremost is the unique cuisine that you can t get anywhere else in Ottawa. The city has great Chinese, Mexican etc. foods, but Peruvian is unique and delicious. We had the fried squid, the chicken thighs, and the pork belly. I m not one to usually order chicken, but it was the best dish with a delicious chimichurri sauce and some of the most tender and juicy chicken I ve ever had. The service was also top notch, with a skillful sommelier who was able to give us a full explanation of the unique Spanish wines that they house. I ve heard from a food critic that this is the best restaurant in Ottawa, and it may just be that!
Loved this place! The ceviche was exactly like what I had in Peru! I took home a bag of Anomalie coffee from their shop and it s very good.
Delicious food! One of the few high end restaurants in ottawa that are actually worth it. I think people of all ages could enjoy it. Portion sizes actually are enough to make you full. It has a nice ambiance too.
very very VERY good dining experience. The menu is on the pricier side in contrast to all the other local Peruvian options but the value is there. Portions are fair, full of flavour, food is authentic however the anticucho is not using the original recipe (but they were very delicious! ) Favourites: passion fruit pisco, arroz con camarón, brownie, causa vegetariana Albariño on the wine list
Delighted to have a Peruvian restaurant in Ottawa that serves such delicious food! We had the Tiradito, the chicken, the roasted veggies and the squid. Each dish was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. We had to wait a long time for a table despite reservation and food was slow to come out. Minor issues that will no doubt get ironed out in time.
What a wonderful dining experience! Fantastic flavors and ingredients handled expertly by the chef. Highly recommend: Causa Vegetariana and Rockfish Tiradito- wow, wow, wow! Everything was so tasty.
Perfect spot for good food, good ambiance, not too fancy but very fine-dine quality of food. Had 2 cocktails both delicious, food flavours on point, nothing overwhelming and could taste every single ingredient. Had squid and octopus as appetizers and lamb and Risotto as main. The shrimp risotto was so tasty and still very delicate. The Lamb was melting even before getting the mouth. Ah the beans, I feel beans are underrated. These were gone before the lamb. Would have loved to have a slice of sourdough to clean the plate too, the sauces were delicious. The server was helpful and always there at the right time, very professional. Suggested the Meringue as Dessert. Glad she did. Highly recommend:)
Since hearing great things about this place in its first Byward market incarnation, I have returned for both a date night and a group dining experience with colleagues. I think this restaurant offers something new and vibrant to Ottawa. The food is delicious and while the selection is small there is great variety in flavour profile. I think they did an amazing job with the cold industrial space they moved into. I love the green velvet banquettes and lush greenery. A pisco sour is a perfect entree (whether you a like a citrusy classic version or the sweeter passion fruit version). We have enjoyed the rockfish and octopus entrees as well as the shrimp, beef and rockfish mains. Look forward to returning and trying more.
Ill start with the food: Ceviche: no balance between salt and limen. It was a big mistake ordering Ceviche. I was craving for it and ended up so disappointed. Flavor out of balance. Ceviche is about the balance of limen and salt. Pisco sour: it was more limen juice than pisco. For the price, it wasnt a real pisco sour but lemonade. Rice and shrimps: the menu mentioned it includes Ají amarillo. I got surprised that the Ají amarillo was tiny dots from a processed package. You can find real Ají amarillo in Gatineau and make your own souce guys. People who never tried Peruvian food, please dont consider this restaurant as a real and traditional Peruvian restaurant. Service: it was good. I wont come back but Im sure this review will make them improve the quality of the food. Cheers from another Peruvian Chef.
I had high expectations given all the hype and everyone was met - or exceeded. Delicious food. Great service. Their Pisco Sours are delicious.
Does this look like Lomo Saltado? I ve had Lomo Saltado before from several other restaurants and never have I ever had this soup version Where s my rice? Where are my fries? Why was this plate $50?
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The appetizers were great and flavourful but unfortunately I felt the mains we got fell flat. The food just didn t do it for me and I feel a few other guests felt the same way. I will take part of the blame as I should have done more research or asked questions. My suggestion would be if you are unfamiliar with Peruvian food it may not be best to gamble on just the description if you are not more of the adventurous type. I am not sure if I will go back so my final thought is if you love this type of food it s probably for you if you are unfamiliar then ask intently before you order.
Best restaurant in Ottawa. Thanks for the service and food. I am always amazed! Georgia and all the sfatt are top-notch!
Good service !! Good atmosphere!! Good meal !!
Very much loved the food and presentation.
Simply the best restaurant in Ottawa. The food is phenomenal. Try the pisco sour, the tartar and the shrimp rice. The Merengue dessert was out of this world.
Amazing experience. The food, service & ambiance was worth 5 stars. The dishes were all very good and the service was above and beyond! I will definitely be coming back here. Highly recommend for a date night!
Loved everything about my experience: the atmosphere, the cocktail, the proud server, and of course the incredible food. I had a vegetarian small plate full of flavour with attention to detail; the steak skewers where every component was perfect; and tried some pork belly that was delicious on a cold day. Look forward to trying more!
First time at the newly-opened Ottawa location. We knew it was pricey going in, but we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and thought wed treat ourselves. My husband had an Inca Kola (not a cola, but comes in a bottle and yummy!), I asked for a mocktail - server said she could make me anything - I asked for a Marguerita-ish drink, which she delivered beautifully. Husband had Arroz Con Cameron for main and Brownie/Gelato for dessert. I had Pork Belly Carapulcra for main and Orange Flan for dessert. We both had Americano coffees after our meal (so smooth and delicious that I drank it black when I normally add milk). Bottom line? Everything was delicious and our server was so friendly and efficient. Four stars instead of 5 because the entrée portions, at $36 each, werent really big enough. Not skimpy, but not belly-filling, either. Thats why we had dessert when we normally dont. Do I recommend? A big YES! We had a wonderful experience and loved having Peruvian meals in a beautifully decorated restaurant. Well go back for our next special occasion.
What a fantastic spot! Highly recommend you treat yourself. Inspired dishes, lovely staff and an inviting, convivial environment. Its so nice to experience someones passion come to fruition.
This was so bad. I had two plates which were 80% potato s - one freezing cold and one over salted. I could not finish either.
Service was excellent, food was good. Its designed so that you can share everything to try more of the menu. Portion sizes were a little on the small side though
Amazing dining experience worthy of a night out. Cozy and chic atmosphere to celebrate or catch up with fam and friends. Luxurious details from beginning to end, well executed food and drink menu with exotic and tropical vibes. Leave room for the soursop and pistachio meringue! Most appreciated, though, was the attentive and knowledgeable staff will return again.
Flavourful food and amazing service. We were impressed with every dish we ordered. Definitely a repeat.
We had our holiday party here and it was amazing! Delicious food and awesome drinks! The service was amazing and so attentive! Looking forward to coming here again!
The decor is nice and feels cosy. I ordered an Osso buko and a dessert which has meringue really appreciated the dishes as well as the service. A satisfying taste discovery. I unfortunately did take pictures I guess I was too focus tasting..
One of my new favorite places in Ottawa. Service leaves room for improvement
