Nestled in historic Bayward market, Ratatouille Bistro is a family-owned casual fine dine French Fusion cuisine Restaurant operating under roof where culture, cuisine and community come together. Inspired by the colors and flavors of the French Cuisine, and the Canadian, our ingredient-forward menu is a carefully crafted balance of local, seasonal flavors.
Amazing food. Went for a mother daughter brunch date and we both enjoyed it very much. We ordered ratatouille egg Benedict and mushroom ravioli. Both were flavourful. Finished it off with a creme brûlée. Will come back.
Stopped by Ratatouille for breakfast and it was great. The portions were generous, and the food hit the mark. We got the short rib hash skillet and the beef brisket Benedict—both solid choices. Coffee was great too. Service was good—servers were attentive and quick. It’s worth mentioning that the beef and lamb are halal, which was a nice option. Highly suggest you make a reservation, some walk-ins were turned away without a reservation. We got seated right away, and the food didn’t take long to come out. Parking is easy enough with street parking in front and a garage nearby. Good spot for breakfast. Would come back.
I’m from the New York City area, so when I can go to a place and announce that they served me the best cocktail I’ve ever tasted (Ratatouille Empress) that’s really saying something! Connor provided amazing service and the menu was creative and intricately crafted. My daughter and I enjoyed a spectacular finish to our trip to Ottawa at this small, unique and casual experience with impressive food for any palate, but amazingly crafted for the discerning among diners. Definitely a must-visit for a trip to Ottawa!
I rarely give 5 stars because there’s usually room for improvement, but in this case… it’s already amazing. Not perfect, but amazing. I just couldn’t give it 4 stars. 👍😋 The service was quick and warm. Due to my allergies, the server (a young woman whose name I unfortunately can’t remember) clearly explained what I should and shouldn’t order, along with the reasons why. The food was excellent. The kebab burger was well cooked and had a unique flavor, different from a regular beef burger. I appreciated the generous portion of fries and the included sauce, without the usual extra charge found at many other restaurants. She also left the water at the table so we could serve ourselves, which I prefer to constantly signaling for refills. The pricing was in line with what you’d expect at a quality restaurant…not “cheap,” but not overly expensive. I definitely recommend it.
This place is perfect. Excellent service and holy the food was amazing. Best sit down restaurant in my week in Ottawa. Highly recommend the ratatouille Wellington, lamb shank, and scallop and lobster risotto.
Having had a disappointing dinner elsewhere in the city last night, I was looking forward to finding a breakfast spot this morning that would be simply incredible and, luckily. I found the Ratatouille Bistro. The place is immaculately clean both inside and out (including the bathroom, which is often a telltale sign for a kitchen that may be sanitary or not). The decor is cozy, casual, but stylish. The service was prompt, professional, and super-welcoming. And the food was among the best I've enjoyed anywhere in the world! I had the Challah Bread French Toast, topped with fresh fruit, compote, bacon, and accompanied by a generous serving of maple syrup. I opted for whipped cream instead of the traditional ice cream topping (It was breakfast, after all). Incredible start to finish, and very highly recommended.
We had a wonderful breakfast/brunch on Sunday morning here. The staff is very friendly and kind, service was prompt and nice. The food was the best! Portions are very generous and we left feeling very full. We got the eggs benedict with wild mushroom & kale, and the hungerman breakfast. Also got a grapefruit juice and iced latte, and both drinks were tasty too! The food, ambiance (earthy cozy mood), and plates reminded me a lot of my favourite brunch spot in Porto, Portugal! Will definitely come back next time we visit Ottawa.
We had a reservation because this place seems to get busy easily since it’s small. The food was delicious. I had the French toasts and I was very pleased with them. The crab cake is a MUST. It’s delicious, creamy and crispy. The ambiance is very cozy but can get loud if it’s busy. I recommend this little bistro for its delicious food and excellent service !
Excellent food. Highly recommend Lamb shank
Seven of us had brunch here with a reservation on Christmas Eve (2023). The drinks were perfect, the food was delicious, and the service was great. They were packed when we arrived but they got us seated and served efficiently. It was a great experience and I d definitely recommend for brunch with small or large groups. I ve come back here several times (most recently on Dec 13) and all of my visits have been great. The pork belly gnocchi was amazing. Our server Conor was also great, he was very attentive to our needs and went above/beyond with making sure we had a good experience.
Ok food somewhat overcooked, not a good value for what I got. Noisy.
First time and will come back! Went there for a brunch with friends whove been raving about the crab cakes (apparently its a must have!) We booked it in the morning but had to be late by 15 mins so we called and let them know. They were more than happy to wait for us which was awesome. Our server was pretty nice and welcoming. The much expected crab cakes were sold out sadly But still had an amazing food served. THE SALAD was phenomenal (my first time having blueberries on a salad). I ordered a salmon omellete and Id say its pretty good (maybe just need more spice but the dill flavor was well balanced). Another great thing they have are the Scones with butter its the perfect combination of crumbly and buttery texture. Also recommended to order the creme brulee if you still have some space because the portions were pretty big. Overall a highly pleasant experience
Recommend lamb burger
We were a couple of visiting Americans, pulled in by the menu and the simple ambience which suggested to us that the restaurant was focused on food and drink rather than glam. These folks are doing something amazing, next-level. Its worth driving 4 hours over an international border to eat here again.
The lamb shank.....
Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in town. The attention to detail, from the exquisite food to the impeccable service, is consistently outstanding!
The best food in Ottawa. I ve been to the top restaurants in the area and this was the best meal I ve had. It was a fusion of South East Asia and French done perfectly. Every item on a dish felt intentional and well executed. You can tell the waiter loves the food. He is very passionate and ran the dining room perfectly. Absolute gem. I ordered the quail, burrata, and lamb shank.
Great food, huge portions, attentive service and lively bistro ambience.
Went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Had the Lamb Ragu Pappardelle and it was delicious. My partner enjoyed the mushroom ravioli. The entrees were large enough on their own to make a good-sized meal; excellent value for the money. The server has been at the restaurant since it opened, and knows the menu very well. Excellent service. Its a small place with minimally elegant decor. The floor plan is very open.
Great little place:)
The food was great, but it was overshadowed our servers rudeness. He was clearly overwhelmed by the breakfast rush but there was no need to speak to me in the manner in which he did. We were in town visiting Ottawa and absolutely will not be back! Save your money and go someplace with great food AND great people!
Delicious!!
This is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Its very busy, so I would advise reserving a table in advance. Rose was our server today, and she was a total gem. Amazing service, attention to detail, and incredibly friendly atmosphere - these employees were working hard in a fully packed restaurant, and they all maintained a very professional demeanor. The food pricing is great for the portion sizes and the interesting menu items that arent your boring, run of the mill meals. 10/10 would go again!
Good little restaurant, the dishes are very good and there are atypical dishes to try.
Finally tried the brunch because it was one of the few places open on a Tuesday! Ive been here a few times for dinner. Its one of my personal favorites. I like the seasonal menu offerings that change up.
My and my friend went for brunch, both of our meals were excellent! I had the avocado and eggs on toast with figs and pesto. It was so good and unique, the flavors were great together, one of the best and most memorable brunch I ve had. So excited to go back, I would highly recommend!
The restaurant is unassuming which kind of makes the food shine even more. Dinner was excellent. Drinks were equally tasty. Service from Connor was thoughtful, attentive and quick. Top notch all round.
I had the pleasure of meeting the manager before my party arrived. He was very accommodating throughout the visit. I truly appreciate the way him and his staff took care in making sure we had a great experience. We had 3 young children (all under 10) at the venue. They are very child friendly and even provided the children with colouring sheets and crayons. The food was also AMAZING. Great portion sizes and very thoughtfully curated plates. I had The Hungerman Breakfast plate and found the salad a great way to cut through the more savoury portions. Very well balanced. I also had the iced latte (without any sweetner or syrup) and it was so smooth and rich. Great coffee! Finally I had a mimosa. It was one of the best ones Ive had - not too sweet and not too strong. I did not order dessert but others in my party did (French toast) and they really enjoyed. I wish I had pictures to share :( but we were so hungry we dug right in! They are very popular so I do recommend that you make a reservation if you plan on dining in at peak hours (: Parking: Parking is available on the street as this is a downtown location - it was not hard to find Kid-friendliness: We had 3 young children (all under 10) at the venue. They are very child friendly and even provided the children with colouring sheets and crayons.
The hungerman breakfast tastes good, the salad is great with many varieties and goat cheese. The bacon is bit dry, the sour dough bread is great with butter already on top, no jam needed, the crab cake is too deep fried. The poached eggs have too much whites and small eggs, did not like it. The wild mushroom breakfast is great too. Just right amount portion of food. Price is a bit expensive but is worth the price for its quality.
My husband and I were here this week for a birthday breakfast. Ratatouille has a very interesting menu and we both ordered things that totally satisfied. He had the short rib hash skillet - excellent! The hash - more like a shredded meat - was tender and delicious. I had the Sammie, again excellent, right amount of spicing, and all the ingredients worked well together. Portions were generous and the coffee was bottomless! Service was friendly, not rushed and not too slow. We will definitely return to try other things on the menu! Thank you for a lovely birthday breakfast!
Food was awesome. Service was amazing. I would highly recommend this place
Overall the food and service was quite good, but they had trouble accommodating one of our vegan party members at breakfast. The online menu says their lunch menu (with a vegan dish) starts at 10am, but the lunch menu in the restaurant actually starts at 11am (and we were told there was no way to make that dish before then). The server did offer to make one of the breakfast dishes vegan, but it was then served with cheese on the salad. When we pointed that out, we were lectured that we should have told them ahead of time that we didnt want cheese on the salad (despite the fact that they offered to make it vegan and nowhere on the menu says there is cheese on their garden salad). They did replace it, but I would have expected better treatment from such a well reviewed restaurant.
Delicious brunch spot with a variety of fresh and healthy options. On the menu: Beef brisket & Swiss panini (With salad instead of fries) Sous vide lamb burger (With truffle fries)
Went in for breakfast and had their wild mushroom and caramelized onion eggs Benedict, served on a homemade herb scones. Everything on the plate was delish, service was also wonderful and my friend and I would absolutely revisit this place again!
Great breakfast Great service she had a full restaurant by herself! Food
Had seen this place a number of times walking by. It was excellent. The food was tasty, unique and done absolutely perfectly. The cocktails were exquisite and different with a great selection. Wine was hand picked and the service by Connor was top knotch. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be back again myself.
The shakshuka I had today was so spicey I had to wash it down with water. I mentioned this to the server and he said he was sorry. Also it was noon and the place was packed. It was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation. The coffees and dessert were good.
Disappointing food experience in view of excellent Google ratings. Shakshuka tasted like tomato paste and there was an off taste to the salad dressing.
The establishment is good in terms of design and comfort, the service is fast, fast and friendly, the food is delicious although it lacks a little salt. As for my taste, it is worth clarifying but as far as possible the flavor and presentation is very Good, I ordered benedict with brisket and an espresso, both highly recommended.
We ate during our visit to Ottawa, and were delighted with the quality of the service and the meal. Meal that is really qualitative in terms of products and its preparation. A big thank you to Sam for keeping our wallet for 1 week which we had forgotten during our visit. Without regret we ate there a second time. THANKS
High quality goods Well prepared Reasonable high price
Very good table, all the dishes on the menu were no longer available, but we enjoyed ourselves. The staff is bilingual. The room is just a little noisy.
Food and service were amazing! Definitely coming back
I had the pleasure of dining at Ratatouille Bistro tonight, and honestly, I cant stop thinking about the entire experience. Raiden and AP were not only incredibly attentive but also had a deep knowledge of the menu. I love when servers can describe dishes in detail, and they did just that, explaining the thought and care behind each plate. We started with the oysters, which were the perfect balance of fresh and briny. Then came the Ratatouille Wellington, and wow, the layers of flavor were phenomenal. It was a unique twist on the classic dish, wrapped in a perfectly crisp pastry. The fries was delicious as well! For our mains, we had the rabbit risotto, which was incredibly fresh probably one of the best risottos Ive ever had. The texture was creamy, and the rabbit gave it a rich, earthy undertone. We also tried the pork belly gnocchi the gnocchi was pillow-soft, and the pork belly practically melted in my mouth. And let s not forget dessert! The banana caramel Wellington was just as decadent as it sounds sweet, indulgent, and a perfect end to the meal. Every dish was so well-executed, you could tell there was a lot of heart behind the cooking.
Delicious food!
Little nugget, I recommend! Good options for a savory and vegetarian breakfast/brunch Vegetarian options: Several options for meat-free dishes: omelettes, eggs benedict, etc.
We are visiting Ottawa from Florida. We saw Ratatouille Bistro on line. After reading so many positive reviews, we decided to eat there. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and our waiter AP was wonderful. He was very attentive and very kind. We highly recommend the restaurant.
Food was unique and great but the server seems not in the good mood at least for us. Will come back and try again.
An absolutely bang on breakfast! The care and attention to detail in their dishes is a step above the rest and an unexpected delight. Big pieces of fresh fruit, edamame and charred corn in the side salad, perfectly smashed potatoes and the most delicious avocado toast that was way above and beyond how lame that order can be! Fresh cherry tomatoes full of flavour and just the right amount of spice on delicious sourdough. It was busy and full of good vibes, our server was awesome and despite being the only one serving an entire restaurant full of people, they were kind and welcoming and you just don t get that kind of service a whole lot these days. Thank you, we will be back on our next visit to Ottawa!
Went in for a late breakfast (which they have until 3) and was blown away by the food, service and cozy ambiance. Such a gem of a place and the Benedict dishes were generous and excellent and the creme brulee was perfection. Will be back :)
nice place for brunch. food is delicious.
Great place for foodies. Amazing service Food : 5/5 |
What a gem! World-class dining experience. Exceptional flavours. Cannot fault a thing!
My friend, boyfriend and I went there tonight and absolutely loved it! The service was very efficient and friendly, offering their suggestions on what they liked best. The food was absolutely incredible, the ratatouille wellington and the banana wellington was amazing. We will definitely be there again.
Food was amazing but very pricey, the service lacked and the place was very loud
Food: amazeballs. 14/10, would eat here every night if I could afford it. Service: very good. They were busy when we got there so it took a while to get our orders in, but the server was brilliant. Atmosphere: only gets 4 stars because it was hard to hear my partners across the table - the acoustics mean it gets loud fast.
Very good service and very tasty creations from the chef. One of the shops worth visiting if you want to eat something special. Prices to a little more expensive than the established ones.
the food is absolutely delicious... I had the steak and my friends had the pasta... very tasty and absolutely recommendable!
The food was great. It was a small menu with interesting choices. I love the infusion of French food with other regions of the world. The restaurant was packed and noisy which made it difficult to have a conversation but Id go back.
Very good food. Will come back.
Ratatouille offers a sublime fine dining experience, whether you bring in a group of 40 people or if you are dining solo. Their food and presentation is inventive yet familiar and comforting. Their head chef, Sam and server Luca make every visit memorable with their warmth and attention to detail. This is an absolute MUST VISIT spot!
Delicious and well rated. Food is absolutely worth the cost, we had 7 people get 7 different dishes and all empty plates at the end. I got short rib skillet and it SLAPPED.
Great service, excellent food!
Dining here is an experience. The food is experimental fusion and youd never expect these flavor combos to taste so good. As someone who doesnt drink, I was wonderfully surprised by the mocktail options. The service was excellent.
We had a really great time. The food was delicious, and I was impressed by his service. I would definitely visit again
I came here with my wife for a sunday lunch and the experience was excellent. staff are very friendly and the food is unique and delicious. Everything tasted fresh and we will definitely be back!
We came at lunchtime and they were able to accommodated our large party. Everyone enjoyed their food. I wanted the Ratatouille Wellington but they only serve that at dinnertime. I tried the Shakshuka and it was flavorful however it would have been better with a few more vegetables.
Love this place. Easily the best breakfast Ive had in Ottawa.
A highly recommended place to eat, the service is good and the food is delicious, at least what we tried, although it is not cheap at all.
Great little place. Food was excellent with generous portions. I will be returning!
If youre looking for high-quality, exceptionally executed food with portion sizes that will leave you stuffed, or bringing home leftovers; then make a stop at Ratatouille Bistro! Appetizers Ratatouille Wellington - (4.7/5) -this appetizer is closer to a small full main! -awesome crispy pastry, full of delicious veg which still had nice crunch -amazing salad with delicious dressing -fries were nice, crisp and large Burrata on sourdough - (5/5) -every single aspect was pure perfection, from the burrata to the nice think chewy sourdough and everything in between -plating was as beautiful as it tasted Mains Lamb Shank - (4.8/5) -absolutely HUGE delicious lamb Shank, large enough I had a second small meal as leftovers! -enjoyably intense flavored sauce to dip -perfectly cooked potato dauphenais -lamb Shank was super juicy and perfectly cooked inside, just a tad dry in a couple spots on the exterior which is the only reason it was not 5/5 Pork Belly Gnochi - (4.5/5) -cream sauce was delicious, the crispy bread crumbs added a great texture -pork belly was super crisp with nice flavor Vegetarian options: Quite a few very appealing vegetarian options! Parking: Very limited paid street parking in front of the restaurant, but there are paid parking structures nearby too. Kid-friendliness: Not the space for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Would be difficult to enter without assistance: 1 step up into 2 manual front doors. There is also 2 small tables outside the restaurant which are completely accessible.
A perfect welcome and service, we enjoyed a poutine, a plate with eggs benedict, and an excellent dessert! I really recommend.
Delicious Pulled Beef Panini! This place is my go-to spot for lunch! I absolutely love the pulled beef panini especially with extra caramelized onions and the garlic aioli for dipping. Yum! The sandwich is perfectly crunchy and crispy on the outside, while the inside is soft and filled with moist, flavorful beef brisket. It s so delicious! The lobster poutine is also a must try! Plus, the service is quick my order is usually ready in just 5-10 minutes when I come in for lunch takeout. Highly recommend this spot if you re looking for something tasty and satisfying!
Best brunch ever
Went in on the recommendation of a friend. Wasnt disappointed. Tasty food, decent prices and solid drink list (hampered only by the LCBO strike). Seemed a bit under staffed as portions of our order werent punched in, but they were quick to fix and the lamb ragu and the shank were solid. Also, nice to have the open air aspect in the front of the restaurant.
The 2 best leg of lamb Ive eaten in my life and when it comes to lamb Im like a wolf (Ive had many). The Gnotschies also had very good company with me. Recommended eatery
Restaurant that we highly recommend. The warm welcome, the excellent and copious dishes will not make you regret stopping there.
Great service and food ! Love it
Excellent food and service! Would highly recommend. Food was delicious and the owner made us feel really welcome even though it was busy.
Good cooking
Excellent beef and lamb based foods. I went there for 3 days in a row and ate excellent braised meat and excellent tagliatelle with meat sauce.
Reservations recommended. Very busy and limited space. We were served quickly and the food was delicious.
It was the best food, we ve had so far in Canada! Lovely concept and a very inspired cook. We ll definitely be back!
In Ottawa for business , & took a stop by at this Bristro that was recommended from the front lobby at my hotel and when I tell you this place is amazing. It s amazing! Ambiance is great is amazing. Great customer service would definitely recommend. I would definitely come back! 10/10 I would recommend a hungry man on the menu. The crabcake is to die for
Great discovery! Very tasty meal! The only star missing for the atmosphere, the ambient noise is quite loud... but the restaurant was full so that was to be expected.
Its a cute little place with nice ambience. The staff and service were great, and the food was delicious! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good brunch spot in the area.
We ate here for brunch! It was very good, I had the ratouille, I recommend it!
Good restaurant
Delicious food and desserts. Staff is incredibly friendly and the ambience is nice. The chef even took time out to speak to my young son. All in all, a great dining experience.
Absolutely delicious!! A very cute, clean, unpretentious spot with very good quality food and service. We were very happy diners.
Really great food ! Be sure to make reservations in advance. Lots of foot traffic here Food : 5/5
Excellent lunch but the coffee leaves something to be desired
Too noisy! That we need to move to another table.
Hands down, best brunch in the market!
Ratatouille was so good, we had to visit it twice! We had a very late lunch upon arrival to Ottawa. We were greeted warmly by the manager, Connor. He showed great passion for the restaurant and menu, which made perfect sense once we sipped our cocktails they were delicious, particularly the old fashioned. The menu is French-Mexican fusion. The chef certainly has a gift. Bone marrow, rabbit leg, duck empanadas, duck fat sourdough bread. Need I say more? No but I will anyway. Their signature ratatouille dish is so, so good. Everything executed beautifully. We came back for brunch the following morning. The BEST crab cakes Ive ever had. Best restaurant experience I ve had in quite a while. Thank you Connor for your exceptional service.
Very pleasant surprise both in terms of the quality of the dishes and the impeccable service. Ratatouille is a must try. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent experience. The dishes are delicious and the service is top notch. Ratatouille is a must-try. I highly recommend! We enjoyed ourselves.
This week, I had the pleasure of visiting Ratatouille Bistro with my twins to celebrate their birthday. We decided to go for breakfast, and it turned out to be a delightful experience that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The Bistro has a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a special occasion. The décor is charming, with a cozy ambiance. The service at Ratatouille Bistro was exceptional. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed to make our breakfast special. We ordered three different breakfast sets, and each one was fantastic in its own way: The Hungry Man: This set was impressively large and satisfying. It included a hearty combination of bacon, sausages, eggs, and potatoes. Perfect for a big appetite, it was delicious and well-prepared. The Ratatouille: True to the restaurants name, this dish was amazing. It featured a medley of fresh vegetables cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. It was a hit with me. The Two Eggs: Simple yet great, this set came with perfectly cooked eggs, toast, and a side of fresh fruit. It was a classic breakfast done right. We also enjoyed juices and coffee, which complemented our meals perfectly. Given the quality of the food and the excellent service, I felt that our breakfast was well worth the price. The portions were generous, and the experience was truly enjoyable, making it a great value for money. Our visit to Ratatouille Bistro was a wonderful way to start the special day of my twins birthday. The delicious food, attentive service, and charming atmosphere made it a memorable morning. I highly recommend Ratatouille Bistro for anyone looking to enjoy a delightful breakfast. Everything was so perfect that we forgot our umbrella despite the rainy weather. We will definitely be returning!
Such a cute find for brunch! The grilled cheese with tomato and side salad was super filling and tasty. Glad I stopped here on my last day in Ottawa.
I was really looking forward to this place. Cute ambiance, the service was good but the food was just ok. The dishes we had were very salty.
We dined in and ordered the Ratatouille Sammie with poached eggs, Wild Mushroom Skillet and a side Crab Cake. Everything was fantastic, nice portions and quite a refreshing ratio (lots of salad and greens). Will definitely be returning for a lunch or dinner. Very tasty spot!
We absolutely loved our first experience at Ratatouille Bistro. The food was amazing, the best lamb shank I ever had. The service was fantastic. Wouldnt hesitate to go back or recommend.
Owner is also the chef, and it shows. Food, 5.5 star out of 5 I went for dinner for my birthday and I am extremely satisfied. The front line staff, waiter, host, are excellent. They have full knowledge of every meal & drink. Very professional. I cant wait to go again. I didnt take a photo of our plates or the interior. I put the phone away for this experience. But I can assure you, it was divine. I ordered the lamb pasta, gf ordered the pork gnocchi main. Incredible. 5 star. Connor and Raydon served us. ELITE level of service!
Unassuming, good little place with succulent plates. Good creativity and execution. Friendly service. Crowd of different age. Pork belly with gnocchis is outstanding.
Incredible breakfast! Highly recommend the eggs benny. My husband got the bacon and goat cheese omelette and said it was delicious. Don t miss the salad & potatoes too
Ive been to Ratatouille many times for brunch and dinner and have always loved the vibe, food and portions. However, yesterday I went for lunch and decided to try something different. I ordered the lentil and chickpea masala. The food was decent but I didnt see any lentils and was told that they are blended into the sauce. Ok. But what annoyed me most was the portion size! It was a small bowl of curry and a tiny scoop of rice for 25$. I was not impressed and even voiced my dismay to the kind server, she was lovely. Luckily friends were nice enough to share part of their meal as their portions were massive. Im still annoyed, thats why Im writing this review. DONT order the lentil and chickpea masala, unless ur vegetarian/vegan and its pretty much your only option. Shame on you for charging 25$ for that dish. **Edit** This is in response to your reply. Im sorry to continue on, but I find it hard to accept what you wrote. Chana masala is usually the cheapest dish at an Indian restaurant and they often give bigger portions than what I was given. My issue was the portion. I should have refused the dish immediately upon receiving it. Please dont patronize me that its due to it being vegan and gluten free. Its chickpeas and rice! There should have been a side salad and or Naan bread or something. I dont know, I still feel that 25$ for what I got is unreasonable. Im just comparing to other dishes Ive ordered at breakfast or dinner that have come with salad, bread, potatoes- a full plate! With meat, veggies, fruit! And all I got was a small dish of chickpeas and a tiny scoop of rice.
I m literally speechless. I had one of the best dishes in my life, the best service, friendly staff and of course a skilled chef.
It was a delicious experience. Welcoming staff and a great brunch menu. My friends and I ended up splitting the challah french toast as a dessert at the end and it was the perfect dessert.
We went at an off-peak time so the atmosphere was nice and quiet. The wait staff was friendly (even to people who were soliciting to put their ad posters up) and attentive. We ordered the wild mushroom ravioli (to die for, creamy, savoury, with a hint of acid to cut the heavy notes) and the pork belly gnocchi (great taste and mouth feel). I was very pleasantly surprised by the lavender fiz, which they make in-house. Very refreshing and delicious! Will come again!
This place is so so so phenomenal! We cannot overstate how delicious everything was, truly such creative and amazing dishes
It was so amazing! Food was excellent and service was even better. This place is so so so so good! 10/10
We had an OK brunch experience overall but my dish gave me terrible indigestion. I had the short rib hash skillet - it was very, very salty and oily, the short ribs were dry (and unfortunately, there wasnt enough runny yolk from the egg to help balance out the dryness). I really think the plate could use some kind of side salad or fresh vegetables to freshen and liven it up. It just felt incredibly greasy and too rich. Ultimately, I was quite disappointed considering the price of the plate and the reviews on Google. My partner had the crab cake benedict and he said it was really good, which is why I havent rated it lower. The restaurant also comped my iced coffee which was nice of them, after I kindly explained my disappointment in the dish. But I still felt really sick after the meal for a few hours and it kind of ruined one of our days in Ottawa. I would consider returning and ordering something else, but I would not recommend my particular plate.
We highly recommend the Boeuf Bourguignon and the catch of the day with seafood chowder. Excellent
We had an amazing brunch here! Great food and lovely service.
Visiting from Calgary, this is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. The duck appetizer was fantastic our risotto and lamb shank was wonderful, the banana Wellington is the best dessert I ve ever had and the service was the best we have ever had. 100% recommend.
That was the best food I have ever tried. The depth of unique flavors was truly amazing. I had the best service I have ever had the way the food was explained and then the food still excelled that explanation was incredible
Fabulous brunch! We sat down around 9:30am, which was great because by 10:30, it was absolutely packed. Coffee was really delicious as well.
Amazing breakfast offerings, I had the mushroom and eggs and my dad the Ratatouille Sammie, we both loved them. Give it a try if you re near the market Vegetarian options: As a vegetarian I often have only one or two good options at breakfast spots but here I was spoiled for choice
I had the B uf bourguignon and it was fantastic. The creme brulee was amazing as well. Great staff and atmosphere!
Carefully cooked, cleverly seasoned, it tastes excellent.
We discovered this fabulous place walking by Saturday morning. We later popped in to see the menu. Youd think Connor the manager owned this place the way he spoke so highly of everything. Well, he sold us, and we couldnt have be happier. We came after my husband finished his 25th marathon for an incredible lunch. The food is truly fabulous! My husband wanted a hearty meal being he ran a marathon, and the short rib hash in a darling skillet was excellent. My ricotta, berries, honey, mint, fig, pistachio toast with a side of eggs was perfect. I could have easily eaten another fig toast. So yummy. Brunch is definitely popular, so Im glad we made a reservation. Next time well try their dinner which looked great when we read that menu.
We tried the smoked salmon. It didnt seem smoked at all and the portion was small. The lamb shank was not marinated properly because it was smelling.
Staff was very friendly and service was great! Food was very fresh, would definitely recommend!
The salad is so good!!! Best salad ever had! Eggs cooked perfectly, looks like a marshmallow, I didn t realize that was an egg until I cut it. What a wonderful brunch! Food
Cute little brunch spot. Service was friendly and attentive. Ordered a latte to start (it was ok, prepared more like a cappuccino with a lot of foam but I understand it s not a coffee shop). Breakfast omelette with mushroom and goat cheese was delicious and fresh. I appreciated the side of salad and fruit. Smashed fried potatoes had a greasy/old oil hint to them (could consider refreshing the oil more frequently for a fresher taste). But overall, had a good experience and enjoyed the meal - so I would definitely recommend a visit.
The waiter said by far their most popular items are the eggs bennys. The highlight is for sure the rosemary scones. I would eat just the scones the eggs sat on. We ended up ordering 3 variations of eggs bennys: crab cake, brisket, and mushroom. The crab cake had a very crunchy and delicious coating but I found it to be a bit dry and crumbly. The brisket was nice, but others at the table found it to be more reminiscent of pulled pork, rather than brisket. The mushroom one was good but didnt feel as substantial as the rest of the dishes. The service was good but did forget we were celebrating a birthday, even though we had noted at the start of service. The restaurant is not big so it can get quite compact and loud for brunch.
Reso a must. Small space.
Our experience was great, Great and very welcoming service, good recommendations for drinks! We got two cocktails with our dinner, which was excellent! The quality of the food was excellent and tasty! The atmosphere was incredible too! Wed love to come back for the breakfast menu which also seemed excellent but we didnt find the time on this trip, definitely well taste next time!
Amazing service and super flavourful food!! Had the Ratatouille Wellington and it was really tasty.
Excellent breakfast and service. Beautiful combination of flavours. Unfortunately I ate it before I had a chance to take a picture.
The Hungermans breakfast - includes 1 serving of best crab cake ever - good salad and meats - eggs, bacon, sausages all cooked perfectly - potatoes cooked perfectly - nice location and server
The best place in Ottawa. The food was fantastically good and creative in composition. The restaurant manager was very friendly and gave a detailed description of each meal! Absolutely recommendable if you dont just want to eat the usual mainstream food...
A local gem. Novel breakfasts and the classics. I had bowl of smoked beef and eggs. Delicious and filling.
A very good bistro for brunches
Amazing and lots of good food Wich can fill up your stomach with yummy food. Mushroom ravioli Is amazing
Had a get-together with friends from IIDC 1982-1983. We all had breakfast at 2 PM! Great ambiance, good price... Food fills!
The paella was DELICIOUS, will go there again:)
We decided to go for breakfast but not to the usual places weve been before, and this placed popped up as a well-reviewed option so we decided to give it a try. Staff and waiters were very friendly. We got the short rib hash skillet and and the short rib and caramelized onion benedict both of which were great. Only two small complaints I have was I did ask for soft poached eggs but got medium and then the sides. I ordered a side of bacon for $5 but only got two overcooked/crispy slices which was disappointing. However, wed definitely come back and try some of the other options on their menu. Overall it was a good experience.
Delicious food and drinks! However if you have a baby, the bathroom has a broken changing table so my sister had to change her baby in the stroller... very awkward. Additionally there was no ramp near the front door to either access ourselves or that we could ask the staff for (and they were very busy that Saturday so I feel like it wouldve been an awkward imposition) To enter you have to scale two steep steps and pass through a narrow doorway, so bringing in the stroller for her baby was difficult. While it may not necessarily be an obvious family restaurant like Dennys or something, but its 2024 and you would hope they would apply for grants to get more accessible doors for their business, especially being in the Market aswell.
Food was excellent!!
Wow very good
Great brunch here food is fresh, portions are huge and the service is friendly. Cant wait to try the dinner menu.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food
I finally got to try this spot for dinner after being here twice for brunch (brunch was amazing!) Dinner did not disappoint. I can safely say the food here is legit!! Me and my partner had the steak tartare to start. I had the pork belly gnocchi for my main. Absolutely delish, flavors were very rich, serving size was very filling! The service was very friendly and attentive. They forgot my sister s meal but made up for it with urgency to serve it as quickly as possible, as well as giving her a free dessert, and we had some really good laughs with the servers along the way! 10/10 would recommend and we will absolutely be back.
This was my second time for brunch and will definitely be back again! The dishes not only look terrific, they taste terrific. Not a disappointing bite for anyone. Same for the mimosas and Caesars. This time I went with the wild mushroom skillet with poached eggs. The portions were perfect too. Others had the short rib skillet and challah french toast. Savoury or sweet they nailed it. The only critique is the noise volume. Mind you it was packed for brunch (so great to see! ) but it made it difficult to chat. Regardless, we will be back! Book your reservation now.
The food is really really good. The success just comes with a downside of a full house most of the times, it s loud and you wait a bit longer for your order. But again worth to wait. Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free options
Excellent food, but don t understand why some items could be sold out at 11:30 in the morning and had to choose something different than first wanted. Even I had to change my choice, still want to say food is great and don t think anyone will be failed by anything on the menu. However, be prepared with the noisy atmosphere, all customers speak so loud and I can barely hear my friends.
Good bistro type food. Excellent service. Music a little loud for lunch. Excellent salad.
Came Here for a bite with the girlfriend and it was absolutely amazing to the service and food this place is great for a quick date and bite.
Food is excellent. Service is excellent. 100% recommend. Everything was very good. Will definitely come back!! Food
Had an excellent experience here. Our waiter was impressively knowledgeable about the menu and the chef and was able to make some very good recommendations. Service was great and the atmosphere was a plus. Kid-friendliness: My son had the macaroni and cheese and enjoyed it
Fantastic food and excellent service. The Goat and beef tounge dishes were outstanding. Our waiter was a star. Very happy.
Delicious food: Brisket and Swiss panini Black forest Pavlova (pictured). Cheerful and efficient service. Food : 5/5 |
Delicious food and excellent service on the evening of Fri 10 May 2024. We had the sourdough with date butter, lamb shank, and pork belly gnocchi. All perfect! The two waiters were cheerful and friendly. Will be back.
Have been here twice, once for brunch and another time for dinner. Both experiences were exceptional. The menu has lots of variety, the food is beautifully presented and the taste is incredible. Staff are very friendly and helpful in explaining the story of the bistro which adds to the experience. 10/10!
Nice little surprise - possibly Ottawa s best kept secret. Great little French spot - French fusion actually. We had the Brie appetizer and the beef bourgignon main. Superb. Rich, tasty comfort food. Even the carrots were incredible. Didn t have the banana Wellington or the ratatouille Wellington but listening to our neighbours, I d say they are also a hit. Connor was our waiter and he was so passionate about the menu - it was awesome. You don t often see wait staff so invested. Added to the vibe. Cute decor, simple, nice music. Def a must try. Prices reasonable for quality.
Wonderful food, wonderful service! Connor is amazing, he was very nice and helpful. Will return next time!!!
I came here for the first time with a few friends tonight. The service was AMAZING. So lovely and friendly. The food, delicious and amazing! I will definitely come back here, it was so lovely! My most heartfelt compliments to the chef! I had the ratatouille Wellington and it was so delicious. The salad was amazing. Simple and yummy. The Wellington was so good and satisfying. My only regret is that we didn t have enough time to order dessert! Will definitely return for that!
The food and service is amazing. Great sweet spot. Very happy I tried it. The food and service was great. Im glad I discovered it and tried it. Thanks IG
Food
I loved it here! The for was exquisite and the service was amazing. I wish i could give them 10 stars.
Lovely little bistro with super friendly staffs. Every single item we ordered were delicious - my personal favourites were the goat curry, beef bourguignon and the Banana Caramel Wellington. Omg you cannot miss out on the banana caramel wellington! It s so good! We will for sure come back next time we visit Ottawa. We had such a great time!
Great experience on new cuisines to indulge into and warm welcome from the staff to give the best experience. Thank you for making my visit special. I must say, it was a great atmosphere from the moment we entered the restaurant.
One of Ottawas best brunch spots, lovely atmosphere and kind staff
The food was absolutely delicious and service was great. Would definitely go again to try more things on the menu. We had the pork belly Gnocchi which was DIVINE. And the banana caramel Wellington for dessert . Delicious and very well priced for the quality and portion of the food! Worth every penny!
We had very good experience in this gorgeous place. Yummy breakfast, the only thing potatoes are over fry. Our server are very intelligent, friendly, professional. Food : 4/5
The food was a unique experience, we took all three garnished toast and they were all delicious. The music is well choses. The ambiance and the staff are lovely. Unfortunately, the small space can get a bit noisy but nothing excessive. We will come back for sure! Vegetarian options: Few but good options
Tasty brunch with great portion sizes. Loved the ricotta cheese toast, although the edges of the toast were a little burnt and one of the poached eggs wasn t runny enough. You get both sweet and savoury from it. The crab cake benedict was delicious and huge we were so full for hours afterwards. Service was a bit slow. The restaurant is always packed, so reservations are recommended. Overall a very pleasant experience!
Lovely spot in Byward for dinner with the family. The boeuf bourguignon was delicious and portion size was great. Sourdough was savory and just right. Banana caramel wellington was divine too. Service was great and made great recommendations!
Excellently good breakfast!
The brunch was spectacular! went with the waiters recommendation on the wild mushroom, kale and carelmalized onion benedict - it was phenominal! This spot has a great vibe! The owner is the Chef! Full of heart and tasty food. I just ate an eggs benny @ the feast + revel. I wish I hadnt. there was no love in that breakfast. lol
Ottawa s most colorful French brunch place. We ordered the crab cake breakfast and Ricotta toast. Both were exceptional. Make sure to make a reservation on the weekends! The place is packed!!
Good food , fast service.
A great cozy spot. Service was top notch. Very friendly to kids. Kid-friendliness: Great with kids! Food : 5/5 |
Friendly staff who could serve in both English and French with ease.
Great little bistro. Small menu, big on taste. Great service. Well be back!!
Ordered takeout for my fathers birthday dinner. Everything was very good - the big problem is we dont know if I like the dish, as this place makes everything so well it is all delicious! 2/5 dishes where vegetarian, but our 10 year old found them challenging. Ratatouille Wellington Pork Gnocchi Lamb Shank Beef Bourguigon Wild Mushroom Ravioli Scallop and Lobster Risotto Vegetarian options: The Wellington is amazing
Ratatouille was amazing for our first visit. The server was very nice and the food tasted great. The prices are on par for such a well balanced meal. We went during brunch and so I enjoyed the crab cake benedict. I enjoyed the fact that as per my request the egg was fully cooked. Flavour was on point and I definitely recommend. I enjoyed the booking reservation process as well powered by Google. Very pleasant experience. Parking: Best to park down dalhousie or on George St.
We enjoyed a lovely evening at Ratatouille Bistro with great food and wine. This is a great local business and well worth a visit.
One of the best places for brunch in Ottawa. Great service, atmosphere and delicious food. Can t wait to come back and try more.
Great brunch! Lots of variety on the menu. Cant wait to try out their dinner options.
Based off breakfast alone: Had the Brisket Benny - wasn t the best but still good. Personally don t prefer my brisket as a pulled beef. Smash potatoes are fire! I like seeing new, inventive ways of having potatoes for breakfast. Crab cakes are fire! My partner had the Challa French Toast best French Toast I ve ever had - wish I ordered it instead! My official rating is 4.5, but obviously it doesn t allow that so I rounded up.
The scallop and lobster risotto I had delivered from here was amazing. All elements were cooked perfectly: lucious and tender seafood, crisp and snappy vegetables, risotto at just the right balance of creamy and al dente. The flavor combinations were surprising and brilliant with a lovely balance of fruity, tangy, and sweet in the peach-bourbon sauce. I cant wait to try more of the menu.
Food was amazing. Go eat there. Make sure to reserve the table
