Best pub in the Market. Ive worked in the neighborhood for 20 years and the Brig never disappoints. Great variety of brews and exceptionally tasty food. Update...went back today for the first time in a while and its still amazing.

Came for drinks, but they don t serve Guinness or sour beers. The decor is nice and the service is responsive.

Amazing food, amazing performance! And props to security guard for playing along with the actors! Best spot in Ottawa for sure. Kid-friendliness: Definitely take your kids here they will love it. The actors are so friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accommodating.

Everything you could want wrapped up into one cozy, busy, scrumptious spot. A must do on the to do list. Ill be back for more so much to try on the menu so Ill be there a few more times, Dont change your staff they were fun, fab and fantastic

One of my favorite pubs in Ottawa, the food is always good and the beer selection is usually spot on. You can get half fries and salad, and both are good.

The female manager with blonde hair and blazer was looking at me and my friend from far like we weren t going to pay. It was pretty obvious and triggering as she kept looking over and staring in my eyes. felt like it was discrimination. Not going back there. Please do better and fix this is 2024. It s very tiring. No one has time for this. The waitress was polite, but I sensed something very off with that manager.

Do not order the personal pepperoni pizza.... Its basically a soggy frozen pizza.. with abit of extra cheese.. Just get lunchables pizza, at least it comes with a dessert.

We were a large group arrived at 10:30pm and the restaurant took us in and took care of all our needs on time with a smile on their face! Excellent service.

I came here with two friends for my birthday, I ve been here multiple times in the past and had a great time, I love coming back for the drinks and service but this time our server, blonde and purple hair, worst service I had in my entire life, was extremely rude, I ve never had a server like this before, so much attitude, never coming to the table, I felt like I was an inconvenience, if you want to go and have a positive experience I d avoid being served by her.

I absolutely love this place and I go there every time I m visiting Ottawa, however I was there celebrating my friend s birthday and had the absolute worse service I ve ever had in my life. The server was blonde with purple, she was never coming to our table, gave continuous attitude to us. We felt like she hated us and didn t want us to be there. I highly suggest not sitting in her section if you go to this place!

Our waitress Chloe was so knowledgeable and kind! The food was so good!

Absolutely LOVED The Brig. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was friendly. There were several gluten free options and no contamination issues. Dietary restrictions: No issues with contamination of GF food. Several options available.

First time here and major 10/10! The environment was cozy, inviting and suitable for all ages and groups! We had the braised short ribs, general tsao s cauliflower and the pad thai. Super yummy and comforting on a fall Saturday night. Despite being busy, the service was quick, friendly and efficient. Highly recommend! Kid-friendliness: There were toddlers there in other parties.

Tony the doorman is super welcoming, professional and accommodating. Then you re greeted by the most down to earth staff. Will behind the bar is a gem. When it comes to late night food, nowhere beats the brig. The crispy chicken is hands down the best chicken burger you can get in Ottawa, and the fact you can get it at 1:30am is impeccable.

Go and see Nic or Will on Bar theyll take the most pristine care of you making you the best spot on cocktails around !

Great service and even better fish and chips! The fries were the best McD style fries Ive had - SO crispy! If you sit on the patio, you are bound to be entertained as there is always something going on at the Ottawa sign on York street! Parking: Paid street parking in front of restaurant. Free parking on Sundays! Kid-friendliness: Adult oriented, not the place for young kids.

Pretty cool place ,staff is friendly, quick efficient, its also surprisingnly cheap for a place in the byward area ! The one thing that I dont like is that apart from the drinks menu you cant get a regular paper menu for the food ,not a big deal I just have a preference , other than than 5/5 Parking: Byward Market... good luck finding a parking spot Kid-friendliness: Pretty much everyone is welcome. Wheelchair accessibility: Seems very accessible, although bathrooms are on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator ,that might be a problem

I have never disappointed with their food. You can try anything on their menu. If you like dirty martini, you must try theirs.

Really enjoyed my food and service at the Brig. Was there for dinner and ordered the chicken sandwich. Was delicious and a good portion. I sat by the bar and Matt took great care of me, always asking if I needed things before I had to ask myself. Overall great experience and would return again.

One of the best experiences I ve had in awhile at a restaurant. Matt was such a great addition to the night, very funny and patient. Will be back soon!

Great Byward Market Pub. Friendly staff and great food.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch on Labor Day Monday (September 2). Attentive and personal service. Fish and chips were tasty. Only suggestion would be to include some extra chips to justify the dishs price point. Fish tacos also very tasty. Proper pub food.

We went there for lunch and ended up having dinner. Before you ask, there arent two separate menus. The place was essentially empty. We waited for our food for over an hour and a half. The food was devoured because it was tasty, but plan on going there a couple hours before youre hungry to get served on time

I don t really understand the high ratings. I ordered the pulled pork tacos with peach salsa, I asked for the slaw to be on the side, but it still came in the tacos. The tortillas were cold. The pork didn t taste like anything and the salsa just tasted like onions. Also there were some fruit flies around us that decided to land on my meal. My partner had some sort of flatbread that was just as underwhelming.

Good ambiance, clean place, good food and drinks. I had a grapefruit wheat and my wife a mai Thai 5/5 the nachos was delicious, I want the cilantro lime crema recipe please!

Walked 20 mins to get there as the reviews were really good. Sat down to find out they didn t have what we wanted to order so ended up leaving.

We chose this nice cozy pub to watch the Panthers/Oilers game seven. Service was quick and attentive. Nice choice of tap beers and good food. I had the fish tacos which were delicious. My brother had the fish and chips which he devoured. All in all, a great place to get a meal and beer.

Just left after waiting 41 minutes to have my order taken after being seated. 06/27/24 @ 6:50pm seated back patio.

Server was rude, probably the worst part of the experience. Very short, not helpful, or seemed like she wanted to be there. When it came time to pay the bill she just dropped the machine in front of us without saying anything when she came to the table. Food was pretty decent. Likely wouldn t return. Ambiance was okay, restaurant was dead at 7-8pm on a Friday.

My partner and I went this weekend, and had Chloe as a server. I just wanted to say that she went above and beyond! So nice, had so many great drink recommendations and made the atmosphere so fun.

Great pub right at the heart of Ottawa. Googled them and everything just like expected. Pub food with perfectly cooked salmon, great bartenders and classic feeling of the old school pub. Stop by for fair price and service if you around. Recommending.

Great Food, Reasonable Pricing. 4 different dishes and it was unanimous that this was our favorite meal in Ottawa!

Came by with the family for a late lunch after visiting the Mint. Staff were very nice and provided great service. The decor was charming and has a classic old English pub vibe, with some nautical themes (hence the name). But the menu didn t seem to match with the place, it was a modern fusion menu and I felt the experience was a little disjointed because of that. Otherwise the food was good, no complaints, but the cocktail was on the weaker side and tasted more like a cooler.

We have been coming here for a long time. We love the new menu items and the service is always prompt and friendly. The food for the price is excellent. We enjoyed the shrimp saganaki and the kimchi chicken with a couple pints. We will be back!

We ordered 2 appetizers, they forgot one and the other one came with the food and our order took a long time. Besides that the food was AMAZING, lovely server.

All the staff here are incredible, always amazing, attentive service, great food and drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere. Tony on security is absolutely wonderful and knows how to make everyone feel safe and welcome as soon as you walk in the door, we always look forward to seeing him when we come by for drinks after a late night at work.

We were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food and the service and atmosphere were both excellent. Their branded Brig beer was good and they made good cocktails as well.

Food was ok. Bathroom is next door. Service was slow.

Arrived at 5pm. The place was empty. Still virtually empty an hour later. Not a great sign. However service is very friendly both the dishes I had (tuna tartar and portobello chicken) were both really great!! Hard to identify the vibe since I m pretty much here alone but I do recommend The Brig.

The Brigg is one of my favourite go to spots. The food is always amazing and Im obsessed with their indoor courtyard. I definitely recommend visiting with a few friends.

If you are black, never go to this restaurant, its people are racist to the teeth, in addition to zero welcome and a mixture of attitude, they served me a sauce with a napkin in the sauce last night (the napkin in the sauce yes yes yes) like a very clear message to say that we dont want you here, I had to send back the food and leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. In any case they made my evening. .

Expensive pub food, frozen and warmed up selling 5 more times expensive, average service, average bartender with quite limited knowledge and nothing special. Upstairs is quite always close because there not enough people going there. Just do go there nothing no music no good drink no cheap food no good design nothing! Wheelchair accessibility: Quite horrible if you have a wheelchair bud and it s a shame for them.

Found this well-reviewed pub online as we were looking for a place to eat that weve never been to before. Location isnt great in the market, but decided to give it a try anyway. When we arrived, there werent that many people in the restaurant so we sat down and were served by a very kind and inviting waitress. Prices are reasonable. The food was average, but had generous portions and was filling. We ordered the nachos as a starter which were absolutely delicious! However, our main dishes took forever to get for some reason. We eventually got them but one of us had to send back a meal due to a minor issue and sadly, their dish wasnt brought back at all by the time everyone else finished their meal. The kitchen was very slow and I dont have an explanation for it as the restaurant wasnt busy. It was overall a disappointing experience and dont think well be back here sadly.

Good restaurant with a range of pub drinks. Good quality and tasty food for a reasonable price (I think one of the lower priced restaurants around Byward, but among best for service, quality and ampleness of portion). Great, kindly service. Lots of steps within. Ive only ever been for lunch, and it has always been quiet. Cant speak for other times, therefore.

Some friends and I were visiting Ottawa from the States for the long weekend and decided to stop in here. We ended up staying for a couple hours as this place was amazing. There is a huge selection of Ontario local beers that our server Chloe gave absolutely amazing recommendations and descriptions for. She was so lovely and even though it was very busy we could see how attentive she was to all her tables. The food was so good and the environment was great!

The Kung fu Panda (bouncer) outside is very rude and racist. Food was amazing but absolutely wont be going their again.

We dropped into the brig for a cocktail. It was not busy. Everyone at our table works in the food service industry. The server seemed unimpressed being there. We ordered simple cocktails and waited for over 15 mins for our drinks. We had full view of the bar which was not busy. Our server was nonchalantly chatting with other guests, which only added to our impatience. We received our drinks paid and left for a different establishment.

We came in here from out of town with our kids and had nothing short of amazing service. Our server Chloe was lovely and amazing with kids, she went above and beyond to make our experience great. She told us she was fairly new but she clearly put in work to be knowledgeable about the restaurant/menu as she was wonderful. 10/10 recommend this place and will be coming back next time we visit Ottawa, thanks for welcoming us Chloe!

Went there for wings and they were TERRIBLE. Thick outside skin that is rubbery and soft. No crisp to the wings at all. One of the worst I ve had in Ottawa. Service is also terrible. Avoid this place.

We had a great experience at the Brig Pub. We came here for dinner, were seated snd served right away. The food and service are spectacular. We had french onion soup as a starter and then the fish and chips and crispy chicken sandwich. I highly recommend those, they tasted soooo good! Definitely coming back!

Went for fish and chips with the family and overall everyone enjoyed themselves. A bit pricey compared to other places for just 1 fish and fries without any slaw at nearly 23$ each, however it was a good meal regardless and our server was great.

Ahh The Brig, this place is as they used to say the bees knees the real cats meow. Jokes aside I really loved this place during my Ottawa trip a couple months ago. My first impression going upto the door was the BFG of a bouncer that definitely looked intimidating but courteous once approached. I had the pleasure of meeting Matt and Lauren a powerhouse of a working duo. I went for drinks and food everyday during my 4 day trip and seen them absolutely slay the barrage of orders coming into the bar on a Friday night. Matt makes especially good espresso Martinis and Margaritas(as shown in my pictures). Nick was also a champ of a bartender aswell. They pulled me in with their late night menu starting at 11pm(if I remember correctly) and ends at around 2am. The late night eats is exactly what you need at 1 am after an evening/night of drinking and exploring. I ordered the crispy chicken burger with a Brig house lager for my first meal and drink and was pleasantly satisfied. Unfortunately there is no live music as of yet but I asked and Matt informed me that they are working on making that a thing at The Brig. Hopefully next time Im in town they have that implemented however there is a live DJ on Saturday nights. This place will definitely be a favorite when in town and a hard recommendation to anyone around the neighborhood with the opportunity to check out this awesome bar.

Came here for the first time with some friends and it was a great time. Nick, one of the bartenders, was very polite and even on a busy night managed to get everyone a drink in a timely manner. Also held up quite a few conversations while doing so without losing focus. All of the staff I had encountered were very nice. Great place and would recommend.

This place is always amazes, I underestimate the quality everytime.

Food was good and priced accordingly. My company ordered the beef dip and fries; dip was flavourful, the beef cuts were mediocre, a bit tough. The fries were overcooked (just preference); I had the Pasta puttanesca and it was delicious. Atmosphere, I felt like I was at a dance club, the music was a little loud for my liking. I couldn t hear my company talking.

HIDDEN GEM!! We have two young kids a s although there is no kids menu, the server was able to make some suggestions and our toddler had plenty to eat. The beverage and food menu has a good number of options. We enjoyed buffalo wings (5/5), the whipped goat cheese and beet salad (4/5, the beets could have had more roasted flavour), the shelherd s pie (5/5) and the chocolate mousse (6/5!!!!) Delicious. We would love to come here again. Fills up quickly- make a reservation! Kid-friendliness: No kids menu but server gave lots of options.

Very good value for money and pleasant atmosphere

I was out for a girls night out. I am a parent so I don t get to go out much, after the movies we tried going here but the security let everyone else in besides me. I was not intoxicated, I don t understand why this happened. I have dealt with a lot of racism throughout my life in Ottawa but I think this one was the worst. I ve never been to this establishment and I doubt I ll ever go now. That was horrible.

Amazing food (had the short rib risotto) and excellent service! Waiter would overhear our tables conversations before approaching the table and would join in before asking about refills etc. He also noticed a member of our party was sharing her plate of wings with a few others at the table, and he brought over extra napkins and wet wipes without being asked. Very intuitive and great service overall. UPDATE: Also a great place to go drinking! Reasonable price for shots & mixed drinks are definitely worth it. Staff are very kind and reasonable even in the wee hours!

I absolutely love this place and always questioned why it isn t packed full on the weekends, the food is incredible, the staff are friendly, I ve always been able to sit down for food and drinks despite not having a reservation, highly recommend this place!

We travelled from the West Coast to Ottawa and were looking for a place in the downtown core for dinner. Decided on The Brig due to the reviews and they were not wrong! We arrived at late lunch/early dinner time and ordered the fish and chips and the daily hand-formed pizza, the Pheonix. It was all excellent, hot, and prompt. Our server Maddi was attentive but didnt hover. Sometimes arriving before the usual dinner hour means a long wait time but the kitchen was fast. The fish was perfect: flaky, crispy outer batter and piping hot. Fries were crispy and hot shoestring fries. For dessert we tried the bread pudding, which had a nice crunchy top, a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, and a drizzle of caramel without drenching the dessert, and the creme brule. One of the best Ive tasted with a perfect texture. Be prepared to open your wallet a bit more for the pleasure of dining: dinner, dessert and a drink for three came to just under $140 before tips.

Me and my old colleague were came in yesterday (12/07th/23) and didn t have a good time. They double charged me for 2 fries when we repeatedly mentioned we only wanted one and the staff were rude to my colleague after we had asked multiple staff members for our check which took over 20 minutes and when we finally did, I was not shown the bill, I was immediately given the payment device. Horrible customer service! Highly disappointed and I highly do not recommend this restaurant.

Went because I had read good things about their poutine. But it wasnt worth it - far too salty. The service staff are nice but will hurry you along even when there are heaps of empty tables. But I cant fault the atmosphere, which is perfect imo. And the prices are very reasonable
