Home of Ottawa's best burgers, fried chicken, hand cut fries, shakes, and all day breakfast! We offer a classic retro diner vibe with fresh choices, we are not just a one trick greasy spoon pony! Craft beer, wine on tap, and unique cocktails give you that elevated experience. Open 24 hours every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We serve full brunch menu seven days a week! We believe in quality food and great value, come on by for the King Eddy experience: "We Love All!"
With so many eating options in the market area, The King Eddy should be near, if not at the top of your list if you are looking for some really great food at decent prices. Seating is larger than what it seems from the sidewalk, with a huge counter area that tips its hat to diners of a bygone area, very nice! Seating, sure, but what about the food! Freaking fantastic! I had the Eddy burger which was really great. Fries were some of the best I have had. There is a salad option, but not for this hungry bear. Chicken and waffles looked huge, and was really great too. Portion sizes are quite gracious, come hungry! The spicy chicken sandwich was pretty spicy and held its own with the burger and waffle options. Service was terrific, staff are so chill and create an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are eating at home.
We were visiting in Ottawa and decided to check The King Eddy restaurant for breakfast and weren't disappointed!! Food was amazing!! We arrived somewhat early on a Sunday morning (around 10am) and by the time we left there was a line up out the door... and after eating our delicious breakfast I csn understand why!! Delicious!!
We really enjoyed our brunch here! The food was great, the service was consistent and the prices weren’t too bad. I would definitely go again and recommend to my friends. I got the eggs Benedict and my partner got the hot chicken sandwich! Both were very yummy and the bill was just over $50 😊
Fun experience. Very spacious and clean restaurant. Classist diner I’ve ever been too. 🙂. Hostess and Server were polite. We went on a Sunday night so it wasn’t very busy. The music they played was at a good volume and played awesome songs that my 22 yo son and I sang along too. The food was hot when it came and the fries were delicious. I had the corn dog (pretty good for a corn dog, light tasting batter) and my son had the patty melt and he really enjoyed it. The only downfall was that the restrooms are down two flights of stairs. It wasn’t a problem for me but it may be an issue for others.
Recently checked out The King Eddy and loved the vibe – it’s got a really cool retro m atmosphere. But when it comes to the food, I was a bit let down. I had the crispy chicken, and it was more soggy than crispy, which was a bummer. Overall, the food was just okay, nothing to write home about. The place is great to hang out, but the food could definitely use a bit of improvement.
We had the worst waitress I have ever encountered. She was rude and did the bare minimum, asking an order, bringing food. No check ins, drinks were empty for half of the meal, no offer for a second round, couldn't get her attention at all and the place was not busy. The presentation of the food was nice, the fries were good, but that's really where it ends. The NFC has some of the worst seasoning for fried chicken and those of us that ate the chicken aren't feeling well after, so there may be a storage or prep issue as well. The fried fish still had the skin on, so you couldn't eat it as usual, you had to peel the batter off to peel the fish off of the skin. Overall we won't return, mostly because of the very unwelcome feeling we had the whole time.
Sad to say that the food here was not the best, did not like the hollandaise sauce they use on the eggs Benedict and the potatoes were not cooked well, most of mine were still hard. The menu is also way overpriced in comparison to other brunch spots in town. I will say that the staff were friendly and provided quick service. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant were nice and inviting but personally I don’t think I would return for their brunch menu at least.
Oh my gosh, I loved the vibe and spacious atmosphere at The King Eddy! It was recommended and absolutely didn't disappoint. The King Eddy Burger was stacked with a double decker cheeseburger payload and topped with pickles, and their secret King Eddy Sauce...and sooo good! I had a piece of carrot cake and a chai tea for sharing dessert and I would absolutely recommend this to wrap up your meal. The carrot cake was amazing! Fun vibe, just loved how bright and open it was in the heart of downtown Ottawa! Cheers, Spicy Jan
Poutine was really big. The pepsi tasted like a tap water don t know why. Staff was really kind
Hard muzak too loud to converse, air drafts cold enough that many guests put on outerwear. The servers were two young women non-stop running everywhere plus one very slow moving guy in a baseball cap; the kitchen staff was two guys who were obviously the cause of the very slow service. Food was good but not exceptional. Wont be back.
Very high prices compared to other restaurants, coffee was extra for lunch, $3.90 each for a more than ordinary coffee. $54 for a lunch that wasnt worth it. Tourist trap
I expected more from this place. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. It actually seemed pricey. The toilets were clean.
Its the best spot in the area for great breakfast and brunch options! Loved it. Vegetarian options: They do have a couple of vegetarian options..specially the burger. I have tried it and it was good! Parking: Street Parking is free on weekends so you dont have to worry. Another option is of garage parking which is just opposite to it.
I am soooooo in love with this place
Great burgers with good side serving of poutine. Wine on tap
As i m from Montreal visiting ottawa i would recommend the place for sure the food is amazing( THE NFC BENNY 10/10)
On November 9th, I invited friends for a brunch. We noticed a hair in the food. We didnt receive any courtsey of having that dish free of charge neither did we notice any sorriness. Seems that it was too normal to have a hair in the breakfast for them. Atmosphere is vibrant and stylish. This was the plus point.
Food is fantastic. The burgers are delicious and fresh. Would bring the family back for lunch or dinner. Kid-friendliness: Brought out crayons and coloring paper right away. Kids menu was clear and easy for each child to find what they wanted. Kids loved the food.
Good and calm Friday here . Decent breakfast . Vegetarian options: Vegetarian chilli Food : 4/5 |
I had an excellent time with a friend at KE and when I went to pay one of the managers said there was nothing she could do to assist in paying. I questioned her and she brushed me off and said not my responsibility. Extremely rude and dismissive. It took a great experience to a negative experience.
Great food and service. It was our first time here and we were not disappointed. They were extremely busy but did a great job working through it.
We went there for lunch and ordered mac & cheese and a burger with fries. The fries were soggy. HOWEVER, we returned at the night for dinner and ordered the chicken and waffles with fries but we told the waitress what had happened at lunch and she made sure the fries were nice and crispy. This made it a really nice experience.
Been here a few times, food is always good and the times Ive been here the service has been great.
We had breakfast there today because our hotel had a rather limited offering. From the rooms to the friendly and quick service to the really wonderful food, everything was top notch. If you are in Ottawa you should go here. A real recommendation.
Its a shame the food is so horrible because its a really cool looking place. My home fries were stone cold, and the Benny was bland and overcooked. I would have said something mid-meal, but no one came back to check on us. Horrible. King Eddy take some pride in your food, or lose the kingdoms respect. (Was that you in the white hat manipulating our servers time?)
Wow, a true gem in Ottawa. I ate pretty late with friends on the spacious patio and it was lovely. All our food was delicious, highly suggest the morning glory breakfast. Upcharged 9 dollars for maybe 8 onion rings as a side so that kinda sucked. But the service was lovely and the place is really clean and nicely decorated. I hope to visit again soon.
Very nice service
The burger was good. Pricing was average for the burger. However, sides are an additional charge as well as toppings. Overall pretty good.
Good food !! But Unfortunately the guy at the door was kinda rude .. We are still waiting 1 hourish and the good not Hear The hosts forgot my drink and I had to ask her for it . This is not bad reivw this is just to make sure this restaurant work on managements. The food was so delicious and this is the good here .. thank you
Awesome! Great location, good service. Perfect day. Visiting from MB and loved every minute.
Friendly place with many options for breakfast. Love the seating by the large windows. Great quality food with lovely ambiance. Food
The atmosphere is nice and they can accommodate groups. The chicken fingers were quite dry and expensive. They have soft serve!!
They are so good! They have the BEST original pancakes I have seriously ever tested by far! I loved them so much I had to bring my friend back, and they served them to us even if it was an hour past brunch time, so sweet!
AMAZING the burger was out of this world. The sauce they served with my fries was unlike anything I ve ever had. The chocolate shake and waffles were divine. I m so glad I had a partner who was willing to split meals. So we could try two different plates. Definitely a must have!
Absolutely delicious. We ordered the chicks and waffles and the King Eddy burger. Nothing else compares to these!
Really not very good, we took the eggs of the moment with duck confit, the duck arrived with a gray color and was frankly not very appetizing. It was dry and flavorless. The granola was not with Greek yogurt but with classic yogurt, thats a lie, plus the yogurt was not very fresh, everything was dry and it lacked a coulis or jam. The potatoes arent too bad. The servers are nice but the service is extremely long (allow 45 minutes of waiting on weekends). We will not come back.
We went for breakfast, the staff were pleasant and helpful, the King Breakfast was average, the Eggs were nicely cooked, the toast wasn t toasted, the potatoes were ok, the little bowl of Chilli was tasteless. My partners French Toast with Strawberries, did indeed have one strawberry and the fruit was just a mouthful overall, so pretty poor given the price. The atmosphere was not helped because the restaurant is opposite a car park, so various car alarms went off during our meal.
Delicious pub food, great service, wonderful ambiance. The BLT+E is magnificent!
Amazing experience, delicious food, beautiful place!!!!!
Went for breakfast not long ago and, while the food was great, the service was absent. We got asked what we wanted after 15 minutes. We both took the breakfast with coffee. And once the coffee was served, that was the only time we had coffee, and they make you pay 4$ for it! The food was brought by someone else and we weren t able to see our server for the rest of our stay. I tried to get her attention but she never looked our way. Extremely disappointed by how we were received. I over heard that she was having a bad day, which happens, but we could have been seen just once more to make a difference in service. We had to physically get up to get our bill as we wanted to leave, a little frustrated.
Rubbish
This was our first time visiting and we were able to meet the owner ourselves! The service here was top notch, King Eddy helped us personally. The portions were good and so was the price! The owner was so genuine and very generous, we definitely will be coming here again, highly recommend!
UPDATE: I just got out of the Ottawa Hospital with food poisoning and a stomach virus. I will be reporting this to food safety. This place is actually a biohazard. Ive never had a worse dining experience then I had today at The King Eddy. They got our order wrong after specifying accommodations for a dairy sensitivity - which happens, so it s understandable. Had the order sent back to be changed by the kitchen and they simply scraped off the dairy instead of replacing the messed up meal. Our server was nice but service was slow. Then a bee landed in our sauce and we requested a new one which seemed to be too large of an inconvenience for the restaurant. Eventually the meal was replaced. After 20 minutes they sent us new pancakes *one at a time* In addition to being spoken to really disrespectfully by Mr. King Eddy himself (the old white man that walks around aimlessly) who acknowledged that we re frequent customers of the restaurant but snapped at the idea of even compensating *part* of our meal. He said, and I quote Nope not doing it. Not comping the meal He was more concerned we didnt buy his 3$ drip coffee, instead of our amazing lattes from a cafe down the street (shoutout Planet Coffee) We paid in full and still tipped. Will not be returning, Im attributing the poor service to the staff being strung out. And I think it s important to mention our party were the only people of colour in there.
Very good Club sandwich and poutine for two... Full as puddings!!! We will return!
Very good place.
Very good burgers and atmosphere but the fries were a little soggy
Casual Diner atmosphere with freindly staff. Try the poutine and the French toast which comes with maple syrup and berries, yumm
The food was delicious, the menu had some unique items and the staff were friendly.
The place was quiet but we waited forever for the food. They were prioritizing uber eats order, we saw a buch of orders going out in brown bags. Its not the first time I notice this. It is a great place with great food.
awesome awesome place...they are so welcoming and food comes out nice and hot..lots of room..very very clean...the Queen Benny is my go to...love it:):)
The food was sooooooo delicious, yet there was about 3 crackheads roaming the streets
very expensive for overcooked barely edible food , wont be back
We went there as a family to have breakfast. We tasted the pancakes and granola which were really very very hearty and good. We had difficulty finishing I think we should not hesitate to share the portions. The granola is served in a deep plate with fresh fruit and cottage cheese, really great.
I love this spot. They have a great selection on the menu, super friendly staff and a chic environment. The fried chicken is so good. An Ottawa must
Excellent food, great service, reasonable prices and above all dogs are accepted, its a big plus :)
A nice vibe, felt like we were somewhere by the beach. The staff is quick and courteous
Excellent service. The sausage was a little too big for me.
Bit pricy but good
Great food. Horrible service. No one checked on us at all, no drink refills and couldn t get someone to even give us bill. I would do takeout but not dine in again.
No where but Home can truly be home but the King makes it feel good. I feel safe here. No one cares who or what I m doing but they know I m a good boy(grown man), respectable and kind. The King Eddy is what you need to wake up to, chill out to on a patio for lunch or have a nice dinner with love ones or alone. But your never alone at the king eddy on Clarence.
I had heard great things about this restaurant, but my experience was so-so. Service was fine, food was meh. Kids meals did not include drink or dessert and was ridiculously overpriced for what it was. 3 piece fried chicken entree is just that, the chicken and nothing else, no side to go with it at all unless you order something separately to go with it. We were also charged $1 for a tiny little cup of extra mayo we asked for on the side. Its not the greatest place Ive ever eaten, nor the worst, but its certainly nothing to write home about. I tried it once just to say that I have, and after spending almost $120 on a lackluster time, Im doubtful I will ever feel the need to return.
My wife and I had breakfast on a Saturday morning. The place had many patrons inside, enough to say they were pretty busy. Just ordering and omlette shouldnt have taken too long but it was more than a 20 minute wait. The hostess apologized for the wait before our food arrived a as a nice gesture, let us know our drinks were on the house. The food that arrived was worth the wait, well prepared, and enough that I was packed and not disappointed. Pretty sure the owner was present and overseeing operations, so everything was going well. The place was clean and wheel chair accessible. There is a covered patio for dining g outside as well. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options. Wheelchair accessibility: Small slope at the entrance to get in.
Saturday at 3:45 went to the bar to place a takeout order since there wasn t anyone near the entrance door. Plenty of staff lingering but no acknowledgement of me standing there. Left and went to another restaurant.
For breakfast? King Eddies is absolutely fantastic - for dinner? Youre better off ordering breakfast again unless you want American cheese in your grilled cheese. I ended up not eating anything once because they were missing ingredients for not only my first choice, but my backup and my backup backup as well
The eggs Benedict were very good, the service was OK. On the other hand, the prices were very high. On the photo menu on Google, Benedicts eggs (king) were $15.99, which is why we chose this restaurant, but today these same eggs Benedict were almost $23!
I came here with my partner, the service was good and the waitress was sweet. However, the food isn t amazing from what my partner and I ordered. I had the Cobb salad with a Shirley Temple, and my partner had the fish and chips with the Nutella milkshake. My salad wasn t bad but the chicken was so dry and cold I didn t finish it, it was as if they had it sitting out for a while. My partners battered fish was over cooked and rubbery with the batter being very soggy and oily, the fry s that came with it were also very soggy and he also didn t end up finishing it. I feel like from what I ve seen the desserts might be a little better, the Nutella milkshake was very yummy and I enjoyed the Shirley Temple. All in all it wasn t bad but for the price of 80$ I would rather eat somewhere else.
Great breakfast and brunch choices. Classy and tasty.
In town from Calgary, came down for breakfast based on good reviews and didnt disappoint. A cool modern-ish take on the classic diner. Very friendly staff and food was delicious. Bomb chili!
We had a terrible experience at King Eddy, from very slow service and our burgers were not cooked properly, they were undercooked, red raw meat through out the burger and other tables got served way before us, when we arrived way before them. I rate this restaurant 0 out 5
Had a chance to dime , Good taste and overall good exoerience.
Great burger joint. Staff are friendly and the food is delicious. The chicken and waffles are good if not a bit overpriced. Food : 4/5
Misleading pricing on their menu
0/5 !! My partner and I came from Quebec for Canada day and heard great things about this restaurant. On arrival we were ignored and confused with staff passing by us. When we were seated the table was dirty. Another waiter came to bring us water, both of us said Hi how are you and were IGNORED. No greetings from both individuals. We got up and left. You cannot treat customers like this, its simple etiquette missing here.
Food was cold and bread burned
Staff was super nice, got the loco moco criminal price considering it s just rice, gravy, egg, and 2 patties. Maybe I just pictured it being different before it arrived but it looked gross and tasted like something i would make while high at 2am
Good brunch, staff are nice. Probably could use some more staff during the weekdays for summertime for faster service but otherwise great.
Went here for brunch on a weekday. Waited for 35 - 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Food was okay, nice patio and good breakfast vibes inside. Food
$55 for two burger combos. The burgers are delicious but there s no chance.
Great diner aesthetic and great food!
Went for a late late night snack. Standard food. Poutine is a miss.
Great service and good menu. Try Lil Zs next door if you want Italian as well
Best fries Ive had in a long time! Friendly service! Price a little high but the food is excellent.
Wicked burger spot in the heart of Ottawa s ByWard market. Excellent staff, great location, good food, and reasonable prices. King Eddy burger is top notch! Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, but no change tables. Server directed us a quick hop next door to make use of one.
We eat delicious burgers in the balcony with our little pet! Pet friendly, outside.
Food is always great! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Price is spot on for what you get. Would reccomend for a date night or night out with your friends! Highly reccomend the king eddy!
Food took forever with No updates Just sad service altogether Waited 45m and had to leave
Still one of the very best breakfast places in Ottawa.
Burgers come with fries according to their menu, but they charged me $7 extra for those. The food was entirely soggy, there were flies inside the restaurant, and the employees were cleaning the ceilings on top where the customers were eating their food.
great food and staff
Had the King Eddy burger and fries. Both were excellent and I highly recommend it.
Located in the Byward market is this retro-modern restaurant. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place and the service was amazing. The food tho sooo delicious! Definitely would go back again!
I went 25 of May 2024 between 5-5:30. The server was super rude, she literally threw the menus on the table and didn t even say hi. After that the whole experience was just ruined. At the end she just brought the bill without us even asking for it. I wont come back because I m afraid she still working there.
Came early morning during their opening, servers were very nice and patient! A bit on the pricier side but good food and the best part was the latte :)
Food was alright. Nothing special. Service was terrible.
Youre standard breakfast in the market. Usually busy and loud.
Best burger, best poutine (especially with Sweet Potato Fries), its a classic and we go back often! Great atmosphere and decor, ideally located in the ByWard Market...really, if you have a craving for fast food, this is where to go!
If youre downtown, stop in here, great food and great service. They allow dogs on the patio, not in the restaurant!
The King Eddy is greatly reviewed, but this made my visit even more disappointing. Waited for 35 minutes to be served and couldn t help but feel othered as the only visible minority sitting in the patio area. The treatment other patrons received by comparison by the server was markedly different. Lastly, receiving the bill without asking for it was interpreted as get out . I will not be returning here.
WARNING! ESTABLISHMENT VIOLATING Ontarios Health Protection and Promotion Act! I was at the restaurant today for brunch. The owner of the restaurant had his two dogs there. They were not service dogs and they were sitting on top of chairs and tables that are meant for customers. Multiple servers and at least one cook were observed occasionally touching the dogs and even touching the dog s mouth and then going back to the kitchen and presumably handling food! This violates city and provincial codes. One server was even taking a break with the dogs and sitting right next to it. This was brought up to our server and she said Yea, it s the owners dogs. They just hang out. . Now concerning the food, I ordered a 2 egg breakfast with a pancake. I asked if the server could please make sure the over hard egg was very well done. She said sure, I ll make sure they break the yolk for you. . The food came out and I was given French toast instead of the pancake. When I mentioned it, she said it would take 15 minutes to make a pancake because that s how long it takes to cook a pancake. which made no sense so I told her it was ok and that I would just eat the 2 egg breakfast. I cut into the egg and it was runny. I mentioned it to the server and she said she d ask them to make the eggs again but I said that it was ok because the rest of my food would get cold and the toast would become hard. In the end, I had half of a slice of toast, a few home fries and a coffee. She gave me $5 off when the only items I was able to eat were some home fries and toast. In the end, my bill came out to $19. The server was pleasant but she messed up my order pretty bad and she didn t compensate me in a reasonable way or seem to care much that I essentially left the place without having breakfast. It could be because the manager didn t approve of a further discount but I m not sure that she even mentioned what happened to him at all. Also, her telling me it would take 15 minutes to cook the pancake was simply not true. I worked as a server in 3 restaurants over the course of 8 years and it doesn t take that long to cook a pancake when you already have the grill on for breakfast service. It just seemed like she didn t care. Very bad experience overall and I still tipped her as I always do regardless of my experience at a restaurant. I have my food handlers certificate and dogs should not be in restaurants unless they re a service dog. Having dogs in a restaurant poses various health risks, including the potential transmission of diseases such as Salmonella, Campylobacter, E. coli, and parasites like Giardia. These pathogens can be present in the dogs fur, saliva, or feces, and can contaminate food or surfaces in the kitchen, leading to foodborne illnesses in humans. If the owners dogs are there during the day in the dining room, while people are eating, one can only imagine what the dogs are doing when there are no customers there. It s safe to assume that the dogs would likely be given free range to enter the kitchen which is unsafe, unethical, harmful, extremely unsanitary, and a major violation of the public s trust. Go to a place that respects their customers and values the health of the public.
It a goog
Ordered the classic king eddy breakfast for brunch. Great place for a good chat with friends and family.
Had a brunch here with a large group Food was excellent and service Was just as good Food : 5/5
Went for brunch, with a friend. Was awesome. Portions were great, food fresh, service friendly. Good selection of gluten-free options, but that could actually improve. Space is a really fun design too. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options available.
The breakfast was awesome and yammy
It took way longer than it should have to even get our order taken, but when the food arrived it was delicious.
I visited your establishment about 2 hours ago and I must express my deep disappointment with the service I received. I ordered a large green salad, but unfortunately, the lettuce was not fresh it appeared to be wilted. The salad lacked variety; it mainly consisted of tomatoes and carrots, which are items I do not eat and asked to be taken out. Moreover, the hot grilled chicken was placed directly on the salad for takeout, which resulted in a less than ideal experience. Additionally, there were no cutlery or napkins provided, despite us mentioning that we intended to eat on the bus (3 of us ordered separately). I paid $30 for what was essentially plain dead lettuce with a few small pieces of chicken. The staffs attire was inconsistent and there were no name tags, making it difficult to identify who assisted me This experience was extremely disappointing for me, and I would rate it as zero stars.
Many popular foods often lack nutritional value.
The grilled cheese was delicious. First time sitting on patio this season. It was great.
Very good chicken
Love this spot
Great food, really nice atmosphere and unbelievably quick service. People there are so nice, probably best restaurant Ive ever been to
The milkshakes are top notch. 10$ for one is crazy for the amount you get though.
Stopped in for lunch on a fairly hot afternoon. The patio looked nice, but it was cooler inside so we grabbed a booth there. We tried the poutine, chicken strips, fries, king eddy burger, green salad, and whole eath salad. All the food was good, service was decent. Was about $35 each for 4 people with tax/tip. Kid-friendliness: Chicken fingers, fries, and poutine were hits with the kids.
Very very so so the price does not represent the meal the chili con carne was straight out of the fridge the hamburger had a lettuce bun.....we asked for multi grain
I visited The King Eddy for brunch on the weekend, and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant wasn t too busy, so getting seated was quick and easy. I ordered a coffee, which was nice and fresh, and the smoked salmon benedict. While the benedict was good, it had cooled a bit by the time it was served. It wasn t cool enough to ruin the dish, but it was noticeable. When it was time to get my bill, it took a while to flag down my server. Because of these minor issues, it wouldn t be my first choice as a brunch spot, but it s still worth a visit. Vegetarian options: For brunch, vegetarian chili substitute is available, and tomato substitutes for sausage/ham.
Omg the chicken! So good! Had a club sandwich and the chicken has the best seasoning. Great fries and poutine- Ill come back for anything with the chicken. The atmosphere was like an upscale dinner. Beautiful and relaxed feek. Only down side was our server. Not sure if it was just because of the time we went in and it was change over in servers but the server took quite a while to get our order, food was quick to come out but my order was a bit wrong due to her not listening haha but anyways then at the end she seemed to be rushing us out asking my friend if she needed a taken out box while I was still eating. GREAT FOOD!
Always a great breakfast experience!
The King Eddy burger is juicy and flavourful. Fried chicken bennies are well seasoned and the gravy is fantastic. Hash browns are well cooked and seasoned. The milkshakes are a throw back with their thickness and the boozy versions make a great dessert. Cold beers on tap. Excellent service, even when busy. Poutine is decent, with St. Albert curds, but the gravy could use some work. I prefer getting just the fresh cut fries as they come crispier and really dont need the gravy. Theyre great alone. Awesome place and great patio in the summer!
You can feel the smell of burnt oil. It means oil has been used many times to make fries. Salad was fresh. Coffee did not smell or taste great. To be honest I would prefer Mcdonalds coffee. Environment is good. Nice staff. I would suggest that they improve the quality of food.
Wow! What an incredible experience! Our taste buds were taken on a journey with the delectable fish and chips, savoury poutine, juicy King Eddie burger, and refreshing beers and white wine. A definite must-visit for anyone craving an unforgettable culinary adventure in Ottawa. Food
Unfortunately the food was very subpar for the price for breakfast. It was Easter Sunday so perhaps they were very busy & therefore the reason for disappointing food items. This day & age it s not hard to get gluten free bread for Celiacs so they too can eat.
Cool spot discovery on short walkabout Byward Market. Seated and served by Eddy himself. Tried the crispy chicken sandwich with fries and the famous burger with modifications (no sauce) and a salad to accommodate a food allergy. Go for the double patties and add local craft beer on tap;)
Expensive
Service was amazing. Great food, affordable. Highly recommended.
Lousy overall. Bad $4 coffee and they really need to source new breakfast links.
We came here around 6:30pm on Monday, there s not too many people, but the service is incredibly slow. Only two servers in the restaurant and two kitchen staff. One of the servers is nice and patient, but the other one is rude. She s rude and somewhat unhappy? I don t know. She even doesn t look at me while I was talking to her. The food is ok, it s normal but kind of expensive. We ordered burger and NFC. Overall, it s unhappy experience because of the bad service.
Delicious chicken strip/fries and Club Eddie Sandwich. Yum
Been here a few times now and is one of the better diners in the area for the quality of their food. Always excellent and very tasty with a few options that are different than you see other places. Highly recommend.
Loved the atmosphere and the food and service was excellent.
Absolutely bright restaurant in this gray city. Me and my friends DEVOURED our plates. The fried chicken club sandwich was a joy in the mouth.
The waitress/bartender was extremely rude the second I walked in, didn t even want to order anymore because of her horrible attitude.
Excellent service and the fries were good. However, even if the veggie burger had been half of the $17.99 price (excl. fries), it would have been terrible value for money. Terrible burger thats 80% bun.
We waited too long for our food and to pay our bill.
Food was delicious! Got the CLUB sandwich and the seasoning on the chicken was delicious! Will be back!
I just had their The King Eddy breakfast for brunch and I was very flavourful and filling. I was surprised how the rye bread complimented the dish as I ordered white originally but was surprised with rye (in good way and glad I did too, it worked on so many levels) Since we arrived after 11am, the wait was a little long but only waited 10 minutes and it was definitely worth the wait. Our host assured us it wasn t a long wait once we arrived and we were just waiting for people to leave so they can clear a table for us. Once we sat down, service was great and wasn t long at all. Compliments to our server and the entire staff for a great execution. I would definitely recommend eating here again!!
I really loved this place. The atmosphere is great and I could tell the chef put a lot of work into preparing my choice. He/she really made my day because sometimes food is comfort for me on my tough days.
The French toast was really good. Also got a cookie and cream milkshake which was delicious. Loved that fact that I was able to come in with my dog. They allow quiet and well behaved dogs which was perfect for me . They also gave my dog a cup a whip cream Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for a good meal.
This was my second visit to this restaurant. It seems that every time I visit from Toronto, this is where my sister brings me I am thankful, and can understand why! The menu is great, with several good choices to choose between, but without the ridiculous pages and pages of options like you find in some restaurants. This time, I chose the vegetarian version of the Fried Eggs and Chili. Delicious, the perfect portion, eggs done just right I enjoyed this dish thoroughly. Our waitress was excellent; smiling, competent and kind, and our coffee cups were never empty. I love this place and can t wait to visit my sister in Ottawa again so that we can go for breakfast here yet again!
Had a team event here for breakfast. The food and service was amazing. Highly recommend to check out this place.
Amazing food and incredible service! Super cool atmosphere. Highly recommend
Amazing food quality and taste!
While the quality of the food and the ambiance justify the price, its worth noting that this establishment leans towards the higher end of the spectrum. While the experience is undoubtedly enjoyable, it may not be the most budget-friendly option for some diners. Overall, if youre looking for a lovely spot to indulge in a delicious brunch and dont mind paying a bit extra for the experience, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Just be prepared to splurge a little for the pleasure of dining in such a charming setting.
The food here is delicious! Order anything and everything you won t be disappointed. Got the Cure burger, patty melt, onion rings and fries, poutine and corn dog and it was all sooo good. The corn dog was awesome, loved the honey mustard with it! Their burger patties are so delicious, and the cheese!! The poutine gravy is my fave! Got this all delivered and it was well packaged and so tasty. Have been getting pizzas from Lil Zs for so long but this was the first time trying anything from the King Eddy and we were pleasantly surprised and will be getting plenty of food here again.
Everything was 100%perfect ! food is really delicious
The renovation is fantastic; super bright inside, lots of seating but doesn t feel cramped. Food is delicious, serving size is huge, eggs are always cooked to perfection, be a glutton and order a corn dog on the side.
The food wasbdelicious, the croissant donuts are out of this world, and the staff was just wonderful.
Honestly.... Best allday brekky , actually best Brekky in Ottawa
One of my favorite places in the market after living there for 6 years. Have the breakfast sandwich you wont be disappointed.
Ordered online and paid an astronomical price, for the drink to show up half empty. Claimed to give you 16 oz (showed up in an 8 oz cup half full) of fresh orange juice and this is what I got. Orange juice also tasted old and almost spoiled/ eggs were ordered medium and they were extremely hard Will not be returning.
Service was good. Atmosphere was nice and clean. Food was acceptable but pretty pricey. I dont love their home fries, need to be more crispy on the outside and soft/fluffy on the inside. Their gift card system was down but obviously not the servers fault.
First time at the King Eddy, and we loved it! We went for brunch, I had the breakfast sandwich that was voted best in ottawa, it was delicious! The sausages were pretty spicy in the sandwich but it didn t bother me. The potatoes were so good! Went with 4 girlfriends and shared a jug of mimosas which was a great deal. Considering they put sparkling water in their minosas, if you get 1 for $11 I don t think that s a good value but for the jug ($22 between 4) it was perfect. Will be back for sure!
Tuesday, January 16. 11AM. My server was super super nice and friendly. However, when we were leaving, we asked the bartender for a bag to go. She side eyed us gave us a lot of attitude, saying You can ask your server yourself for the bag, but if you want to wait until i finish making my drinks- side note she was making ONE DRINK- then you can wait and I will be able to get it for you if you HAVE to have it. The wonderful server at the beginning was busy waiting other tables, which is why we asked the rude bartender instead. Our original server ended up being really nice about it and she apologized on behalf of the bartender. However the bartender is one of the worst servers we met in our whole life it actually ruined our hangout. The bartender was wearing a Simpsons shirt btw.
We had a really good breakfast and coffee this morning while visiting Ottawa. The restaurant had been recommended to me. Our server Blake was on the move - quick, friendly and efficient! A great experience and delicious! Sour-cream pancakes are amazing
Elderly woman scared the living bejesus outta my kids after Sunday mass; her treatment of the other staff was a major contributing factor to the off putting atmosphere in the diner. Would recommend others visit King Ed on her days off. Wish we d had another server as other tables looked happy and content; quite the contrary to my family s experience
Nice
Great, cheery, delicious, some of the best fries you will ever have. Enough said?
Not a bad diner. The lack of a kids menu can make it expensive for families though! I wouldnt say the food justifies a special trip, but if youre in the area, want a slight step up from a typical greasy spoon and dont mind spending a bit more this would fit the bill. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly!
The food is tasty- and from far it looks really nice portions. However, when we got the food , extremely overpriced for the portions we got. Myself and 2 Yonge kids , went out while we are definitely not full, and looking for another place to eat something in addition. Food
Taste with ambiance
the atmosphere is great. lots of space at the table and decent service. because of the prices I expected real maple syrup with the French toast so was disappointed when it was table syrup. eggs Benedict with salmon was just ok. poached eggs were over cooked and no better than any cheapy diner youll find.
I had the tomato soup with cheese and croutons the day before yesterday. It was so good I came back today. It was so flavourful and tasted amazing. On top of that, the service is great and everyone is very friendly. Highly recommend!!
I had a grilled cheese and chocolate milkshake.. they were pretty standard. Next time I come back Id like to try a burger or pancakes. The staff were great and a huge highlight for me was the retro feel and cool mural.
I recently dined at King Eddy, and I must say the food was delicious. The flavors were rich, but I do wish the wraps and burgers were a bit juicier. The ambiance is great, although parking can be a bit of a struggle. On the bright side, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable a good value overall!
