They have karaoke night every first Saturday night of the month which was so fun. The entertainment crew were very engaging however my boyfriend and I were very uncomfortable with how one of them was dressed and I think it is inappropriate. Staff were friendly and efficient. We ordered the burgers from the menu and it felt like the frozen patties and wasn’t my favourite. Overall a fun night. We will definitely come back.
The service was awful. The staff behaved racism as we were not white. The waitress delayed taking order too much. We asked few of them and they were just saying “my colleagues will be with you shortly” but when she took the orders, all our 6 orders were delivered mistakenly! We wait for more than 20 min again for the right food. And I had to stand and look for someone to remind them we are still missing an order! The quality of food was terrible. Fish and chips were oily, not fresh. The chicken sandwich was tasting bitter and badly.
We had choices of places to go. We chose this one as it wasn't an over priced chain. The service was excellent. The food came in an appropriate amount of time and was very good. The Haddock and chips was awesome and some of the best I've had. I have lived on both coasts. Thanks for a great evening. Oh! I forgot to say that the prices were very comparable to anything around.
Our experience was a friends 50th. I had never been there before and was impressed by the look of the restaurant. I've been in the industry 42 years so I'm fairly blunt about eateries. This place was almost void of personality. The general feel was one of disorganization. We had a good time but we won't be back. I spent $100. My professional opinion, if you have $100 of disposable income.... spend it elsewhere.
I don’t know what to say or where to start, Worst experience ever for me . My wife and I sat down around 9:50 They were a bit busy but it’s normal for a Friday night, We sat down on a table with glasses on from the recent clients Not a big deal , server cleaned the table and another one gave us menus and he was very nice , 20 minutes after and no one asked us for drinks or anything. and all 3 tables around us got served and got their drinks. A third employee showed up and asked us if someone took care of us and we said no , so he quickly grabbed drinks for us , Another 10 minutes employee #4 showed up to take the order and said to me ( I was send to here) so 4 Employees came to us in 45 minutes and no food been ordered yet!!!! I ordered Steak Salad and asked if i can add a steak so we can Share, The steak was sliced very thin and split into 2 plates ( I understand the size of the steak with a salad is small BUT NOT THAT SMALL) When we got the Salad the server asked us if we Eat Bacon Which is Very weird because there’s literally a pitcher of Beer in front of us !!!!! at the end i spoke with our server and she was trying to explain the situation but still a big question mark ❓.
Ordered a Poutine on the phone for pick up. It was 16.50 after taxes but thats not the worst part. We paid for xtra cheese and it didn’t have the extra cheese. But wait it still isn’t the worst part! The box was pretty much empty. Barely any fries barely any cheese and gravy. What a bunch of scammers. Almost 17 dollars for this! Why are we letting these thieves get away with this ?
Not a good experience at all. Went for family dinner, and the restaurant was dead. Service was bad. No water for the table, no checking for drink refills. The drinks came underfilled, which isn't a good sign, and the restaurant continued to prove to be very stingy with their food. I ordered the $33 steak, and got what is shown in the attached picture. That steak is not even 1/2" thick, so it doesn't matter how you order it - it'll be well done. "Mushrooms" means a single mushroom cut into pieces. I voiced my problem before eating, and they offered a 50% discount to which I agreed and then ate the meal. When the bill came, they decided they didn't want to offer a 50% discount anymore and instead tried to offer a gift certificate! No thanks... I shouldn't have to fight for a discount I was promised up front. That's so shady. Other meals at the table were very underwhelming. One wrap was all lettuce, and the noodle bowl was just microwaved mush. Staff was clearly fed up with us when we brought up issues, so I don't think they care at all if the customers are happy. Apps were good though. It's not the same as it used to be. The whole family left disappointed. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner. It's not worth it and if you do have any issues, you won't be treated with respect.
My wife and I stopped by after a Sens game tonight. We were greeted by Cass who was our Server. She had us playing musical chairs as there were heating issues and she wanted us to be comfortable 😜 we had a couple beers and our food was all served within great time. Cass and my wife even talked about tequila together 🤦she had such a great sense of conversation and humour. Very hard to find, give this lady a raise.....the food I will say was absolutely amazing just wish the serving was a bit bigger for the price. My only complaint was the heating inside, it was quite chilly and it's the reason we left and didn't stay for another drink

I grew up in the area and went there a lot in my adult t year before I moved to the rural. I still attend the bar when visiting parents or friend. Parking: Plenty parking spot in back when front is full cause the plaza increased better stores. Otherwise huge parking area behind it, if your willing to walk a bit.
Half-prices wings were very tasty and the server was great.

Horrible price with even worse service. Sitting here for 2 hours with empty stomach because no one comes to take the order. And today is a Wednesday night. I will NEVER visit any of their restaurants.
We came at around 5:45. The first thing we noticed was how high all the prices were. We were there for an event and no one took our order until my friend had to get up and ask for at almost 7:30. We ended up not even ordering anything as it wasn t even worth it at that point. Never experienced this before in a restaurant.

When I saw the chicken meat pie (chicken pot pie) and side.salad I had to get it. The gravy served to pour on top pushed this to extremely delicious! Parking: Close to Ottawa airport and several hotels. But youll likely need a car or Uber to get there as there are few sidewalks.
Pub chips are not as good as they used to be. All of us were unimpressed with the quality for the cost.
We had a 5 hour layover at the airport and found this great little local pub. We were hoping for a dog friendly patio, good food, and close to the airport and Royal Oak delivered! Cassidy was super sweet and great with our pup. A perfect easy 10 min Uber from YOW and a chill classic pub. Will stop in on my next layover! Thank you!
Not a bad place to grab a bite to eat. Went for a friends promotion party and we enjoyed ourselves. I find the Spinach dip is good, but you can tell it isnt made in house - the way it is cooked leads to a lot of clumping, thickness, and not enough product. Overall I think its a solid place to grab a beer, have some laughs, and enjoy some pub food.

Had a fun evening watching some hockey and meeting some locals. Stopped in for a quick bite of nachos and they were just the right size. stayed for most of the night. Bartender Olivia was great, especially while engaging new customers late into the evening.

Every time I stop by the Oak for a drink (which is seldom) Shanny is behind the bar and shes been super nice to me every time. I can tell everyone there works really hard. All of the bartenders are kind and personable.
I cant say that this is a fave place to go. Not very welcoming, so much so our party barely got anything and left without having drunk anything other than water.
Food was good when we eventually got it. Will be back, most likely.
On our visit to Ottawa, stopped over of late dinner. Food was excellent, natcho platter was awesome Great customer service, professional and courteous. On our next visit to Ottawa from Peterborough and Ajax , will visit again.
Place was very slow in serving food. Had to ask waitress three times where our food was. We reserved ahead of time and there were 13 people. They should have had another waitress on.

On Saturday the 23trd of March we showed up at 13:00. The place was busy and the sign said to seat ourselves. The only table available was by a window and had not been cleared off but we sat anyway. During the next 15 minutes, NO ONE came to talk to us ( we were 2 couples) or made any attempt to clear the table. A couple came in after us and were served while we sat nearby incredulously. We left and will never return again.
The steak quesadiila was awful. The steak was rubber, and fat, hard to chew. The waitress also took the rest of my wine. I didnt complain.until.now. Hope you enjoyed that Chandra. Parking: Dont order the meat Quesadilla. Keep your eyes on your wine, as there are wine thieves.

This is our local Oak location. We really like the food and atmosphere here. I was at another RO location in the city a couple of days later, and none of it was near as good as the hunt club/uplands location. Kid-friendliness: The kids absolutely love the kids fish and chips. Theyre 9 and 3, so finding a clear winner for both is a PitA.
I thought I d treat myself to a buffalo chicken wrap for a takeout lunch on my birthday (which I ve had before at one of the downtown locations and was good). Came home and started eating it only to find that this wrap was ALL lettuce. There was maybe half a chicken fillet, deceptively chopped up into tiny pieces in the entire wrap. What an utter disappointment it is to pay $22 for a lettuce and bread wrap, I felt completely scammed and will never give this place any money ever again. I understand that inflation has been hard on businesses but that doesn t give anyone an excuse to scam their customers. I honestly would have preferred to pay more than $22 for an actual chicken wrap than pay $22 for lettuce and bread and still be hungry and upset after. Total garbage. EDIT: In response to the reply I received on this review - I confirm this was from the Hunt Club location and the prepackaged sauce was buffalo sauce I had in my fridge.

Half price wings during NFL games. Wings where good. We got the breaded wings. Had a large ceasar salad. Witch was nice and crunchy and very tasty. Beer is always good there. Cold and lots to choose from. Food

I go to my fair share of pubs, including Royal Oaks. Tomorrow Im Hunt club in Uplands have really amazing staff. I was going to order a bottle of wine but because of a deal on that evening it was slightly cheaper to buy by the glass. I wouldnt have paid attention and I appreciate him pointing it out.
Good enough food. The weather covers for their outdoor seating could be a different color, white makes it blinding if youre sitting and facing the window towards them, creates a snowblind effect.

A solid local pub with a game room for your kids. Nice open seating, attentive staff, and not too many TVs. They have a patio for the summer and a long bar rail. It s a Royal Oak, a local chain that is almost 40 now, and we hope they have another 40 years. Kid-friendliness: There is a game room in the back with air hockey, Pac Man and a hockey game. It occupied my kids for 20 minutes, so bring your loonies and toonies.
Amazing food! We enjoyed it so much, we didnt even have time for a picture! The steak and cheese was GREAT! Kid-friendliness: My 6 year old loved his pizza!

Usually Royal Oak is a good place to stop however, our visit to this one was regretful. The service was slow, never came back for drink refills or to check on us at all. Had to go get our own cutlery as well. The pub itself is in desperate need of a reno as it just felt very run down. Wont be back to this location. Parking: Plenty of free parking

Tip and taxes are almost as much as the meal, which was overly priced as well. 32.00 for a hamburger and a few fries my first and last time there.
Good hearty food and good British ale. And you spend less than you would at some smarmy restaurant.

Updated June 28th 2023 This time waited 30 minutes for cold food.... Chicken pot pie was icy cold on the inside... Their fix was to bring out another one that was barely warm. This place used to be good... Last time here for sure. Avoid if you want something quality. This review was from 2018 Waited for an hour.... when there was almost no one here... after 50 minutes when complained... sorry will be out soon... Soon????? It was bacon and eggs on a Sunday morning.... not a big ask.

Been quite a few years since visiting RO, so clean & bartender was courteous. People at bar were talkative & enjoyed my time there.
Its close to my house so thats a plus. The interior is a wannabe Brit pub. Service was slow. Steak was thin and a little over cooked, had a burger and fries two days later. They are also stingy with their fries, which are quite good.

I went to a stag and doe at this location. I had a great time. However, when I got home from the party I realized that I had lost the oticon receiver for my hearing aids. The staff tore the building apart to look for it. I found it attached to my seat belt in the car the next day. The staff were so increadable and I am so grateful.

UPDATE 2023: Comicon weekend at the pubwas surprisingly slow, but service was spot on. After a year the atmosphere has changed and its much more of a Pub. The food is just passable pub food, and the odd time they have something unique on the menu, it tends to be overpriced for the portion size. Ive found service to be pretty hit and miss, but its otherwise a fine place to drink with a classic pub atmosphere.
The standards need to be reevaluated, the male server with black hair took orange wedges out of a finished pitcher of beer to garnish a drink, then proceeded to talk about how the table he was serving was going to leave a small tip. I ordered the fish and chips and the tartar sauce came with the added surprise of a dirty dish under my tartar sauce with lemon seeds and left over tartar sauce The female server and the male survey with brown hair were amazing

Its good. It could use a deep cleaning under tables and walls. Great wings , cooked perfect. Asked for crispy fries, perfect. Cold draft, servers dont keep bugging you, which is great, but a little more eye contact when clients are trying to get their attention would make the 10/10 a 5/10. I know, oxy moron, but service all around is great. Maybe a little more effort on decor. Some personalities wont hurt. its very dull/bland. Lastly, service the wastoom stLls so the gaps are not si wide. Parking: Very busy but free

It is a neighborhood pub feel. We came for karaoke excited to discover a new location. We find an empty table and the waitress walks over unhappily put down menus didnt say a word and just walked away. All night our service was mediocre. The food was decent but alot of money for what it was. We picked the make your own sampler. Pop is not free refills and at 4$ each it adds up quick. All round the karaoke was great! The food was ok. The staff was to be desired and it was expensive! Dietary restrictions: They did have a gluten free legend but the only gf item I found was the budda bowl.

Place is always close to full, but always a spot for you.
Appetizers were okay. Location is in need of some renovations as my party was sat near the emergency exit door, and there was quite the draft coming through the door which was uncomfortable given that its winter. Server was nice but forgot orders at our table and mixed up a drink order too.
My grandmother and I went there for dinner tonight and the servers are nice and really friendly, the food was amazing and if I was given a chance I would go back
