Nice spot by the water. Delicious food with generous portions, and the wait time is not too long. Their drinks are good too! Points off for parking, as it is a distance away from the restaurant so you have to walk a bit. However, they do validate parking for 2 hours.

We had a great experience, the view is beautiful, and a huge thank you to Taylor for her excellent assistance in going above and beyond to accommodate my food allergy. Its not easy to dine out with food allergies but Taylor went out of her way to make sure I could enjoy a fantastic meal with my family. We look forward to eating at the Umbrella Bar again! Parking: Its a paid parking lot but they validate your parking.

My hopes might have been too high after reading reviews. The food was ok, not great, not bad, just ok. What really let me down was the service. It was nice to sit and watch the boats, but it would have been nicer with a drink. It wasn t overly busy, the server just didn t seem to care. Maybe just an off night, but I wish I had of chosen somewhere else.

Its nice to be on the water in Ottawa, we dont have a lot of spots for that. Food and service was OK, but nothing special.

We recently had our wedding at umbrella bar and it couldnt have gone any better or smoother. Gyneya the owner was involved in every decision and was so organized, she knew exactly what questions to ask to make sure the day was perfect for us and our guests. There was no detail missed and she made it so easy for us during the pre meeting. On the day of she was everywhere and made sure all of our needs were taken care of immediately, honestly she was amazing. The venue was stunning and so easy to coordinate with for set up and take down. The food was unreal and all of our guests are still raving about it. We did appetizers only and there so much food that people were full before it was done. The accommodations were impeccable and we just want to say thank you for everything and would get married 10x over at umbrella bar and with Gyneya and her team!

Everything the Ive tried on the menu has been delicious. The burgers (obviously) are a standout, but the bowls, the shrimp roll, the loaded fries, everything has been amazing. The service and the view are wonderful too!

The burgers are incredible. The fries are thick, like from a roadside fry truck. Unfortunately, the crispy chicken burger isnt gluten free, so I got the ahi tuna bowl (yes to gluten free). Also delicious and recommend

A cool place for a summer vacation in the heart of downtown Ottawa, with great service and a beautiful view of the lake. There are non-alcoholic cocktails.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on the patio. We both had burgers, and enjoyed them very much! Good size, tasty beef, soft and delicious bun. The home cut fries were well made as well. Recommended!

Really cute place but the food is super mediocre and expensive. I had the tuna poke bowl and it had virtually zero flavour and was 25 dollars I understand it is expensive to eat out but I would not recommend this restaurant. The service was ok but didn t add to the experience. All of my other friends said their food was also just ok as well and would not return. Very disappointed. Either change the menu or charge less as it is not worth your time and money.

Good price, great food, and AMAZING staff!

Food took about 50 min to arrive after ordering. Seems like they are not aware that people come to restaurants hungry and anticipating to eat. Fries were then cold too. Womp womp . Burger was alright - but get your stuff together guys, you failed.

We recently visited the Umbrella for dinner and drinks. The food was good and the service too. We would recommend coming here for lunch if you don t want to be assaulted by mosquitoes! Our table was on the patio and there were so many mosquitoes - the restaurant needs to make the evening dining experience more comfortable - they citronella candle they provided was ineffective and they couldn t operate the ceiling fan because of the lights- there has to be some arrangement made for a great dining experience .

What a great place! The patio has a very nice view of the lake, the food was delicious and the prices are very fair. We will definitely be returning.

This whole facility is way past its prime. The restaurant food was mediocre at best. The nachos were lacking cheese and had shredded lettuce on top. WAY overpriced and very little value. We wont be back.

Year after year the service is horrible. In a busy and beautiful location it s shocking that they are still not able to function properly. Long waits and mediocre service for expensive drinks and basic food.

There is a view of the lake from the terrace and a constant breeze to cool us. Enough places on the terrace! In terms of quality and price, it s excellent! The food was hot and tasty. Although there were 3 of us at our table, there was enough space on the small table. I had a dish of nachos which was succulent with a beautiful presentation! This time, I had extra cheese with the beef nachos. Succulent! I loved it and even shared it with the family! Be careful not to drop anything in the slots of the deck because you are above the water! The service for the food was perfect! You have to try! Its a must stop! Note: the parking lot next to the restaurant is closed for construction. There is a 7 minute walk to plan. In good weather no problem, but in case of rain, you can leave your guests next to the restaurant and then park. Its in Ottawa, the service is English-speaking with welcoming staff! Enjoy your food! The burger was exceptional! We tried the fries and they were only okay, though next time I ll be sure to try the spicy curly fries.

Went there for my daughter s 19th birthday last night and had a blast. We were only 3 of us but the whole restaurant including the cooks, wait staff and a big group celebrating a graduation sang happy birthday to her. The service and the food was amazing and even loved how the bathroom was decorated. I highly recommend this restaurant. The parking is tricky, we parked on a side street off Carling.

I organized a work social lunch here last summer and we all really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. I tried to organize the social at Umbrella Bar again this summer on Friday June 21 because of how much we enjoyed it last year. I called on Monday June 10 and was told to send an email because it was a group reservation. I sent the email right after the phone call and waited a couple of days. I didnt hear back so on Wednesday I called again and was told by an employee who answered the phone that it takes time and to wait another day. No reply the next day. I called again and gave my name and number so the employee could ask the Manager to email me back or to confirm if they could take our group or not. No call back and no reply. Same thing on Friday. I thought maybe the weekend? Nope. I even checked my junk box and nothing. I know I had the right email address because I copied and pasted it from the website. I called yesterday (Monday) and was told by the person who answered to either send a follow up email but most likely they wont take our reservation because there is a private event. No apologies or remorse in their voice and when I said to forget it, I was dismissed and they hung up quickly. If I hadnt called again would I have been left ignored and rushing at the last minute to find somewhere else? It is a busy time of year to organize work lunches at patios for a group, especially on a Friday, so I really wanted to make sure that my reservation was confirmed. Honestly this was such a horrible, disappointing and stressful experience for simply trying to make and confirm a reservation at a restaurant. A simple email reply or phone call at some point would have been appreciated! I wont bother ever again.

Theyve changed their menu since last summer. Not a lot variety. Burgers are still great, if you like kind of food. Beef bowl is actually ground beef. Bring back the old menu!!!

Good food and drinks, and a wonderful patio. I had the smash burger with fries, along with the Cadillac Margarita. Everything was pretty good. Food price is reasonable. Efficient service. Patio was not too loud, which is great for a peaceful meal. Would go back.

Had a great time at the Umbrella Bar - can t beat the view! Ordered their burger with fries and had the nachos as an appetizer. The burger was great, but the nachos were the star of the show Parking: There is parking on site, but it s currently under construction. However, there is paid parking close by and if you bring your ticket, it will be validated so your parking is free.

Food was subpar. Ordered chicken sandwich and a burger for the two of us and both we re very disappointing. The beef patty was not even 1/8 of an inch thick, dry and overcooked and the chicken sandwich was too crispy, clumpy and dry Service was very personable. I give them that and atmosphere was nice given it surrounded by the lake

We hosted a baby shower of 45 people at Umbrella Bar and the service was incredible. The staff was beyond accommodating and helpful - they made the event go soo smoothly. Not once did I have any concerns about anything. Food was great! Would highly recommend this space for any future events!

The acoustics in this venue are really awful. When someone uses the stage microphone it echos so bad we couldnt understand what was being said and the speaker heard voice feedback. Same when music played from the main sound system. I would never attend a wedding reception or other event at this space.

Great place! We went in the afternoon on a weekday so we had the place to ourselves. The best chicken burger I ve ever had lives at this restaurant! So juicy and delicious. The sweet potato fries were also very good. The drinks are very expensive, 14-17$ for most cocktails on the menu.

Waited 45mins, teriyaki noodles were pan fried cold and undercooked and was the most expensive dish for veg in this restaurant. and yes tofu was sour.... Non veg burgers were good, fries were not up to the mark...

Sat at the table for 20 minutes waiting for service. Finally just left. The place was not even busy. Such a disappointing experience.

We had a great time at the Umbrella Bar! The staff were AMAZING and extremely friendly! We had nine children in our party and the staff was very accommodating and patient with us. The food was delicious but honestly, I d be back for the friendly and welcoming atmosphere! I believe our waitress was Tayler. She and the gentleman (I wish I got his name!) that welcomed us into the restaurant were awesome!

We went twice during the tulip festival. The waitresses are very pleasant and the meals are very good. A lot of waiting time on the other hand, and to get the meals, but I imagine thats normal because of how busy these days are.

While waiting in the bar for a table a waiter told us that we were not allowed to waiting on the counter, and she asked us to waiting somewhere else for the to call us in about 30min. We left to another restaurant.

If l could give -0 stars l would. Out of town and came in for lunch with my daughter. They seated us and we asked if we could sit at a table closer to the water and not right at the entrance (note it was not even busy pretty much empty). They said no it was a rotation thing. Not even 30 seconds later another couple came in and asked to sit where we just asked to sit. They were seated there!!!!! Unbelievable. Terrible customer experience.

We hadnt booked a table for lunch but decided to give Umbrella Bar a go. It has a good location with a nice view. We waited about 5-10 minutes and were pleased with the table we were allocated. Several people arrived at about the same time, we noted. Drinks orders were taken promptly but slower with the food orders. The menu options are pretty basic (burgers, salads, soups etc) but on paper looked fine and we wanted something straightforward. We ordered 3 x burgers and chips and 1 x asparagus salad. After about 25 minutes, we started to wonder where the food was and noticed that no-one else had been served either. It turned out that the kitchen couldnt cope with the influx of 6 tables at a time. The waiting staff were apologetic. A further 20 minutes went by and still no food. The waiting staff were even more apologetic and said that discounts would be applied to the bills. The food eventually arrived and it was awful. Greasy, cold burgers and chips with no finesse to presentation and a pathetic and meagre salad that was drenched in an unpleasant dressing and contained a few asparagus stalks but no heads at all. We noticed that one table who had been waiting as long us were finally served soup and a wrap (this had now taken almost an hour to arrive). We ate anyway because we were hungry, paid the bill (were given a 20% discount rather than the 25% offered) and left. Did anyone ask if wed enjoyed our meal ... what do you think?

A Bar with amazing ambience and great view. I went with friends multiple times, good drinks and fast service.

Very disappointing experience. We went this past weekend to check out the bar as a potential wedding venue and were so let down. Communication was terrible. We had been emailing back and forth and then stopped hearing back. We were told they could not give us a little tour as there was a wedding at the restaurant next door. We still drove 6 hours to see the place and see what the service and food was like. We waited half an hour for drinks and over an hour for food. We had a table of 5 and one meal never even came out. They offered to take the tacos off the bill which obviously they should as we never got them. I still have not received a follow up or any communication. The inside was completely empty only the patio had patrons, Id say 80-100 people max. With 4 people behind the bar and a full staff of servers I cant imagine how they could not keep up. Planning a wedding of 80 people I cant imagine how they would manage to keep up for an event. I would NOT recommend this place for anything more than afternoon drinks at best. When people are looking to spend 20+ thousand dollars at your business, you would think a little effort would be made but NOPE. We got cold Nachos that had none of the cheese melted, a chicken sandwich that was worse than kfc, and overall just sub par food. Id like to review the fish tacos but again, we never got them. They did comp the brussle sprout salad which looked like it glowed in the dark, so that was kind of nice (I guess). It was generally just a huge let down. If youre looking at this place for a wedding venue, keep looking. There are tons of pretty spots on the water in Ottawa that would be way better options. I still have not received a follow up or any kind of confirmation. Just really disappointed all around.

This place and its sister restaurant (Umbrella Burger) do the absolute best smashburgers in Ottawa, and its not even close. They understand how a burger ought to be constructed and pull it off perfectly, every time. They also have a great menu of other items, and their drink menu is extensive. Its also a great place to come for those who dont drink alcohol, as they have a great list of mocktails. Kid-friendliness: Decor would make you think its not kid friendly, but they have high chairs. However, no change tables in the bathrooms. Wheelchair accessibility: Need to take the elevator, located just left to the big set of stairs, inside.

Updated this review as I ate here for first time in awhile. They changed their chicken burger style and it is not as good as it was. I was a bit disappointed but it s still pretty good. If you want better food I would recommend umbrella burger. The calamari is good! Great atmosphere and drinks are okay. Previous review- The chicken burgers here are by far the best in Ottawa! The Nashville hot is so delicious and perfectly spicy! The broccoli salad and macaroni and cheese are great sides, but spicy curly fries are good too (yes we go here a lot). The patio on Dows Lake is also beautiful and the decor inside is awesome! We bring out of town guests here all the time and they always make sure they come next time they re in town because they loved it that much!

Very nice view and the burger and fries was tasty. There arent that many choices on the menu, but no big deal. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Our to go to spot for a fried chicken sandwich. Hands down the best fried chicken sandwich in town. I also highly recommend the mac and cheese. The burger is very good as well. I have no complaints about their menu. Everything is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend this place. Been ordering from here for years now. Always a 5*

Went to this restaurant couple of weeks ago and were quite disappointed. Food and drinks were fine. When I had to go to washroom it appeared that there is no female washroom. ONLY male and all-gender, were 2 males were hanging out when I have entered. When management was questioned with regards to how come such discrimination of female happens - they have reported that an event that was happening on a different floor and they were upset about restaurant not having all-gender washroom and they had to choose between male and female, which one should be converted to all-gender for the time of the even - as you can see female one was converted. This is not supposed to be MY problem at the end of the day. If someone wants to have all gender washroom, where there are only 2 gender washroom you have 3 options: 1. Build new washroom 2. Close all washrooms and turn them all to neutral - however, one person per all 3 cabins! 3. Bring comfort station for those who are unhappy with standards and they can use it. I felt discriminated and uncomfortable being forced to attend washroom where males are present. Where is my right to attend ONLY FEMALE washroom if I identify myself with one?! Something that always has been a standard now is being twisted like crazy... After this incident will never again attend this place again.

In celebration of the release of Rays Approval Program - where I rate various chicken wings from different food establishments and I provide my respected stamp of approval. To begin, Maddy provided excellent service. Very charming and personable. Well done to you, Maddy. The wings were saucy af. 10/10 recommend. Classic style with a honey-Nashville sauce. To die for. The chicken burgers were better than popeyes chicken burgers. Well done umbrella bar. Spicy mango margaritas is the one.

Had a lovely dinner at Umbrella last week. It was fantastic. Cocktails and Food was excellent. Our table had the Hummus with Whipped Feta, Calamari (delicious but a small portion for the $) Nachos ( I usually prefer Salsa on my Nachos but the BBQ salad actually really good), Chicken Bowl (delicious) and of course the Chicken Sandwich that was delicious. Our server Grace was so lovely. The view and ambiance was amazing!! I highly recommend Umbrella. The only con was that the free parking was a bit of a walk especially since it was super hot out. I almost forgot.. the ladies bathroom was Adorable and now I want my own pink, gold and flamingo bathroom.

Went here for a birthday party with friends. It had a nice view, good ambiance, and overall nice vibe. Got a few drinks, and food. The food was a bit mediocre. I got the Jerk Chicken Bowl, but honestly it was a bit bland. The pork belly tacos were pretty good though. They had parking a bit of a walk away included which was nice! Usually it s hard to find parking, but since it was free, I was pretty pleased. Overall pretty decent place. I would recommend going if you re just going for the drinks or the patio views!

Meet with friends on a stormy Tuesday evening. Staff was great when helping us move from the patio into the restaurant so we would not get wet. I mentioned that it was on a Tuesday evening because there werent many people which might contribute to the good service. I ordered Brussel sprouts cesar salad and calamari. Our orders arrived promptly, and it was good. Cocktails wise my friends really like the suggestion our waiter provided. I was very happy with the wine.

The staff and atmosphere here was incredible. Being right on the water and the ambiance of the restaurant felt very refreshing. We were easily able to bring our dog on the patio and he was even given a bowl of water and greetings from the staff. I d recommend this place for anyone travelling with their dogs or looking for a place to grab some quick food

If you happen to be around Dows Lake Pavilion, visit this restaurant. Cooks at Umbrella Bar do their best to provide visitors with tasty fried chicken sandwiches, fried chicken and chicken burgers. Try the delicious beer offered here. The warm atmosphere of this place makes customers feel relaxed and have a nice time. The good staff welcomes guests all year round. This spot is notable for its fine service. Prices here are reported to be fair. You will appreciate the spectacular decor of this restaurant. Google gives it 4.3 so you can select Umbrella Bar to have a good time here.

We had a good time with good food and better views. The service was really slow as they made us wait for over an hour but they did compensate for it by giving us a discount on our total bill.

The venue is gorgeous! Right on the water as well. Food and cocktails are great - I love the Pink Flamingo. Unfortunately the service is hit or miss. We have had some really good service but also some terrible service (one time our server completely forgot about us after taking our order so we were left with no napkins or drink refills, including water). Beautiful patio, nice atmosphere. Drawback is that you re paying a premium for it, food is extremely mediocre and also overpriced. We gave this place a second chance (we ate here a couple of years ago) but still have the same opinion. This time we got Chimi beef bites, which are extremely bland and the portion is small, def not worth $16. Nachos are not worth the price either, toppings are not layered so 80% of the chips have nothing on them and there s nothing special going on. From other reviews seems like the only worthwhile options are the burgers.

I really liked this restaurant. I was expecting some average patio food, but it was way more impressive than that! Of course theres a beautiful view, but I would go back for the food alone. Unfortunately they were out of two wines listed on their menu.

I made a short stop at Umbrella Bar (Ottawa), in the month of August, which means still hot and a little thirsty. In my opinion, fast food, good drinks, it is a cool, relaxing place, with a good view, on the second floor .. Very good burgers!!!! It is a quick and recommended option!!!! Parking: There is parking nearby. On the site, there is no available.

The drink menu has something for everyone - unique and fun cocktails, rotating and local beers, wines and sparkling wines - and our food was delicious (fried chicken sandwich and an order of sweet potato fries). The mains dont come with sides, so order depending on your hunger level. The view is lovely, if you are able to snag a spot along balconys edge. If not, youre kind of squished up beside the music speakers. It seems they havent figured out their post-Covid balcony. Service has always been fast and friendly.

Such a disappointment. There were three of us going in for dinner last night and (even though there were many available tables) they told us that there is 30 min wait if we want to eat outside on the patio. I gave my phone number to be placed on the waiting list. There was no one inside and I asked them if we could have a drink inside, while waiting for our spot on the hot day. They told us: You cant move outside if you have had, even one, drink inside LoL. I couldn t believe what I am hearing... We decided to leave for good. I don t think the owner would be happy to hear. Nice spot in this city, wrong customer service and nothing special on the menu. We would not recommend it.

Mixed bag - this is my second time here. I remember the patio being set up a bit nicer when i last went. A bit more grimy and worn this time. Food was ok. Small portions unless you order the fries. We ordered 4 items to split. We ordered a Caesar salad and literally laughed when it arrived. It was 3 pieces of lettuce absolutely drenched in dressing. I know food costs are up but they could ve quadrupled the amount of lettuce and we would ve still had enough dressing. I also don t know why our waitress didn t inform us that it was like that because we had asked her for recommendations and she said the salad was a good portion. Anyways! Great views, etc

I went and LOVED the cozy atmosphere (hello, waterfront views), and the food! I found a few new favourites here, and will definitely be back! The dishes in these photos were from two visits, and they are: Ahi Poke ($17): ahi tuna, edamame, crushed peanuts, cucumber, avocado, sesame, truffle-soy dressing, fresh ginger, taro chips, lettuce cups - I LOVE that this comes with taro chips AND lettuce! The fish was fresh and the flavour was light. A great appetizer! Mac N Cheese ($14): smoked cheddar cheese sauce, Wisconsin brick melt finish - this came highly recommended, and I understand why, although I felt it could have been cheesier (but I am also cheese-obsessed). Beef tartare ($17): raw beef, classic garnish, toasted rosemary bread - the flavours of the tartare were good, although I wish it was not on bread but on crisps instead. Tacos ($7/each): I tried the crispy fish and pulled chicken birria tacos! The Crispy fish was my preferred taco as the fish was fresh and crispy. Fried Chicken Sandwich ($12): Southern fried breast, crinkle cut pickle, vinegar slaw, comeback sauce, buttery bun - this was my FAVOURITE new chicken sandwich. The chicken piece was thick, crunchy, and filled with flavour. Im drooling thinking of it now - a MUST order! Another favourite drink of mine are milkshakes, and the one here ($7) delivers! It was SO thick and rich - my new favourite milkshake to get! They have chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, strawberry, and cookies & cream. I tried a couple Mocktails (all $6), but will definitely get a cocktail next time - their mocktails are beautiful, and flavourful too. Pro tip: if you want a table with views of the water, I highly suggest going early (5pm or earlier), as they do not take reservations at the moment.

I m never the person to leave reviews, but I feel like it s to the point where I should. I used to love coming here because of the vibey atmosphere and good food, however lately I ve noticed the way customers are treated by staff is so poor that it s really not worth it to keep going. Yesterday my friend and I went here for dinner after spending a long day outside and when we got to the hostess stand we basically had to greet ourselves while they just stared at us. Then they brought us to a table in the sun, which is no big deal, but I had noticed a few other tables of 2 in the shade, so I just asked if we could go over there instead and she basically rolled her eyes and grudgingly complied. I was trying to be as polite as possible throughout these and a few other interactions that happened for the remainder of the dinner, but I want to have a positive experience when I m out to a restaurant and the last few times I ve come here it hasn t been that way. I ve worked in the restaurant industry as a hostess and waitress, so I really do understand how working busy and hot weekends can be tiring, but there s absolutely no need to take it out on the customers.

I lived next to this place for over a year, never went because it seemed too touristy, I could not have been more wrong. I have been more than 10 times this summer and every dinner has unbelievable, staff are fantastic, and they have a wonderful beer menu.

Great chicken burgers with different spiciness levels! Drinks were good but expensive.

I loved the experience at this restaurant. The decoration is so tasteful even in the bathroom! The burgers were so delicious - definitely worth stopping by to try some.

So first of all, the lone star I m giving is for the drinks. The drinks were good. Now I went there with my wife and daughter. My daughter order a burger and I ordered a chicken burger. My wife couldn t find anything that pleased her, so she order tortilla chips and guacamole. We WAITED NO LESS THEN AN HOUR!!!! An HOUR. FOR two burgers and tortilla chips!!!!!! When the food finally made it to our table. There was no napkins, nothing to wipe our hands. Terrible plus the place was not that crowded. Very disappointed. I ain t going there no more.

We came on a long weekend and were seated right away. Service was incredible , food came out hot and the portions where generous. The sides are enough for two people. The Nashville chicken was spicy and the umbrella burger with one patty was surprisingly packed with flavor . 10/10 experience for the food and staff

The selection of food isnt large but the portions certainly are, and the food was delicious. The prices are definitely very reasonable and the service was fantastic. I think our waitress name was Grace.

Decent place and great location but poor quality and service. Not including that we were at about 30 degrees Celsius and no air conditioning. Waiters are nice but seem to be not trained properly. Food not good, drinks not good and watered down tequila. My drinks tasted like water and I talked to my waitress and she mentioned that drinks are measured. I went to the bar and talked to the bartender and said the same. He made me a new drink and it was the same. I ordered a tequila shot and it tasted like half water (literally). I dont mind the poor drinks and price but please dont argue with a customer and LESS if the customer knows what hes talking about and not being rude at all. I sure Ill never come back.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. If you re getting their chicken sandwich, there s two things you should know. 1) it s the best chicken sandwich in all of Ottawa. 2) one is never enough, you re going to have more.

Our experience was not pleasant. The table was in a corner under a very large plant that had more room than we did. There were boards under our table that made sitting very difficult. However there were other tables, they wouldnt let us move because they were larger and we were only a group of four. We ordered a pitcher of mojitos which had mint that was bad and slimy, we pointed it out to the waitress and instead of fixing it, she said I will tell the bartender.

The best fried chicken sandwich I have ever had. The food is fantastic, the aesthetic is excellent, and the views are incredible. Uber eats/take out is available in winter and my go-to after a long day. The dining space and patio overlooking the lake are stunning.

I was totally impressed. Great food, cool venue, really good quality overall gorgeous views, and decor is fun and swank without being pretentious. Reasonable prices. I m looking forward to returning.

Terrible fire hazard with tiki lights flames hitting the top wood frame. Can t walk up stairs without fire near your hair. Thick black smoke from fuel. Totally fire safety violation. Eyes will burn for a couple days from the smoke and congestion. Epic failure by owner who doesn t care about client safety.

Food was delicious and arrived quickly but waited a very long time for overpriced drinks, some of the staff were not very friendly and not very accommodating for families. Beware when washing hands in bathroom. Water is dangerously hot and burned my skin to the point where it still hurts many hours later.

Went for dinner and drinks! Food is amazing! Only drawback is expensive parking. Advertised with 2 hours of free parking but still paid $14 to park for the additional 2 hours. Not very enticing to come back

Great location and view :) and the weather was a plus to enjoy outside seating Tip: We parked our car across the street (Dows Lake Parking). Had high hopes based on friends recommendations, but was overall pretty so-so on the Umbrella Bar. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich (okay), french fries (undercooked yet oversalted), and nachos. My partner also got the Virgin Pina Colada (good), I got the lemonade (good), and our daughter (Shirley Temple - not bad). The biggest issue with us was there were no kid options on the menu - this obviously isnt somewhere to take your child for lunch. The cocktail list was extensive and looked great, so I think if you were coming here to watch the water and have an adult bevy, youd enjoy. The outdoor views are stunning and we were happily shaded while eating. The only other big issue (minus not kid friendly) were the numerous wasps that hovered over everyone. If I return, itll be probably for an after work drink with a colleague.

Great experience, our server was super accommodating, attentive and witty! The view was excellent sunny and hot! The food was great- recommend the Chicken sandwich and the zero proof Pina colda was tasty. minus the bees. Cannot ask for a better experience- highly recommend! One suggest would be to add more items to the menu such as lobster roll or something like that but I read the reviews and they said to go to burger or chicken sandwich. I definitely will consider having my wedding here one day.

Good but not best in region chicken sandwich. Delicious milkshake. Meh fries: curly fries were soggy and underspiced. Go here for the decor, the friendly service (although our table of 6 had two items forgotten that servers needed to be reminded of), the central location, the lovely view, or the crowd pleasing options on the menu. Cocktails and milkshakes are great. Dont go here looking for memorable food.

One of the best burgers in Ottawa. Good local beer list. Only place to eat at Dows Lake. Service was sub par every time we ve been is why the 4 stars.

One of the best burgers I ve had in town, and for only $9. Good scenery of the lake, although the windows are a bit dirty. Waiter was overahovering which was a turn off and was watching me as I tipped not a fan of that.

Great patio and the umbrella burger is very tasty with their curly fries. Service is good, but can get very slow when very busy, 4.5 stars rounds to 5.

Lunch date was great! We had a beautiful view and amazing food. The calamari was perfectly fried and very tender. The beef had the perfect bite, but my favorite was the poke. It was so fresh and tasted amazing, appreciated being served with chips and lettuce. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again.

Terrible service, dirty place, the waitress was so rude and had dirty clothes. I asked for a clean mug and she just dropped another dirty mug on the table and left quickly . After another few minutes that I was looking for her and When I asked to change it, she said they don t have any other mug. The tea was cold, they brought the teapot in a plate with a napkin that was totally wet b/c it was so full and the waitress spilled the hot water in the plate.

Nashville. Hot. Chicken. Sandwich. That s all you gotta order. It s crispy, full of flavour, and the juiciest chicken you ll ever have in a sandwich. The sad part is is that I could probably eat 2 of them but it s also a $12.50 sandwich We ordered the truffle fries and sweet potato fries to accompany the sandwich which was a great call. Appetizers were also tasty but I wouldn t say worth the bang for your buck

I was here recently for my sister-in-laws wedding and the staff here were top notch. They were very attentive to our needs, and extremely nice. No issues trying to get my 8 month old a couple different seating options that would fit for him, and we re able to accommodate a dairy allergy. They cooked all the food for the venue in house (not their normal fair), and it was amazing. Just small touches too, like when I had to wrap my son for bedtime and stand to eat at the bar, the bartender without needing to ask set up all the fixings and a place to eat for me, really left a great impression on me. The venue itself is in a nice location with close by parking. Would highly recommend for regular dining or for booking larger events.

Wedding venue extraordinaire. We booked Umbrella Bar for our October wedding and all we can say is - WOW. Not only is the space itself beautiful, the food and drinks were incredible, all of the staff were attentive and professional, and Gyneyas event expertise, helpful guidance and incredible attention to detail made our day absolutely perfect. We can truthfully say that we would not change a single thing about our experience (with the exception of maybe having eaten more of the food, as our guests were raving!) Thank you to Gyneya and the entire team for a day well cherish forever.
