I came here for brunch a few years ago and it was very good. Most recently I went for a coffee and chocolate amandine. It was delicious! I love the ambiance and the fact that it's located in the basement of a church. Very worth checking out!

The food sure does look pretty, doesn't it? The venue is unique and attractive, and those are the only positive things I have to say about this place. I knew it was going to be a bad experience when I asked the server if the duck was served rare. (It was sort of a trick question because duck is ALWAYS supposed to be served rare.) They told me that no, it's well done. The server said that the Beef Wellington would be cooked medium rare, so even though I REALLY wanted the duck, I opted for the Beef Wellington. It arrived well done to the point where I had to chew it like bubble gum to be able to swallow it. My dinner companion's fish was dry and overcooked. (Do they stick everything in the bread oven at this place?) Of course I'm not going to pay $40 for overcooked meat. The server had the kitchen make me another one and offered a free appetizer in the meantime. We opted for the squid and chorizo. Eating the squid was like eating rubber bands. It was so, so bad. It didn't take long for the server to return with my Wellington. It turns out that it didn't take long because THIS time, it was RAW. It wasn't rare, or even blue. It was RAW! The hostess told me that they rent out the upstairs for events, so obviously, the owner won't care that they lost my business forever so this review is meant to warn other diners. For Heaven's sake, don't waste your money at this converted Church.

In a nutshell (outdoor menu): It felt like the kind of food that makes people not like upscale food. Pretty dishes, cute venue, but food was overpriced and had little flavor. I swear I had asparagus with no oil or spices, and there was a kid cooking on the grill outside... On top of that, we ended up going on the day of an event and rain. We got moved in and out twice. Staff were really nice about it but seemed unorganized.

Extremely slow service. We were greeted right away, we asked to sit inside, and the server said that he will prepare a table for us. He didn't come back for around 5 minutes or longer! I saw a lot of staff around and there was only two tables occupied outside so it was strange to me. I had to go inside to look for him and there were about three tables occupied inside. Then once we ordered it took a very long time for the food to arrive, over 30 minutes. We had no update from the server, nor any offer to refill our filter coffee which by then was empty. Finally I asked if the food was coming soon and mentioned the long wait, especially since the place was not busy. The server was unapologetic and rather glibly said they are making sure that they make us a good meal and it takes time. My partner said to me that it seemed like the serving staff were students who were apathetic and uninterested without any manager present. Food: the scrambled eggs were really good, but strange that you can't choose how you get your eggs for the price. The bacon is really nice and crispy. We all found the flavour of the beans 'weird' (quote from my kid) and my beans were tepid, barely warm. Toast is good, but you need to ask for jam (the server doesn't ask if you need any). A few issues: the potato wedges were very generous BUT they were not fully cooked, so they were hard in the middle. We did not eat them all because it was not pleasant to eat. A few were fully cooked and they were good. There were many egg shells in the scrambled eggs! (see pic) My partner ordered the mushroom toast with poached eggs and one egg was completely cooked - no runny yolk (see pic). And unfortunately he now has the runs :( - the only other thing he had was a cappuccino at a café, so we suspect it is what he ate. It's a shame because this place was recommended to us and I wanted to have a special brunch with my family who was coming to visit me.

Love this place. Last time I ordered a shaved beef baked potato which was insane. The bread service is on point and the mocktails as well. The only hiccup is the service, it’s always very slow and you don’t get much attention from waiters even if the place is empty. I work in the service industry too so I try to be understanding before writing anything related to the service. Otherwise, it’s a must!

We ate here for dinner and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was lovely with an old world charm. The service was impeccable and attentive and the food outstanding. I would highly recommend the Working Title Kitchen to dine as a couple, family (I’d advise against small children though) or special event. We will return for sure!

Went here for brunch. The atmosphere was really unique and nice. The space in the repurposed church was well set up and had beautiful art on the walls. The food was good, not amazing. My main issue with the dishes was that the eggs options were either poached or scrambled giving me the impression that they only have pre-prepared egg options. I just found it strange that they don't have fresh eggs especially for the price of the dishes. It would have been nice to have more options. As well the beans on the side of the classic breakfast were a tiny portion and in my opinion didn't taste very good. Other than that food was still overall pretty tasty and cooked well. The sourdough bread was definitely a star of the show.

Had an excellent brunch experience at the Working Title Kitchen! The unique setting in an older church creates a clean, well-lit ambiance. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the variety of bakery items is fantastic and super fresh! I couldn't resist the almond croissant, a daily favourite during my stay. The brunch offered generous portions and was totally worth it. This was one of my most enjoyable meals during my visit in the city. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot!

Went here for a holiday lunch with a couple of colleagues and I got the mussels and toasted baguette. When it came out, it smelled extremely fishy and half the mussels were closed and the other half were undercooked and mushy. I luckily didn t get sick from the dish but I wouldn t order this again.

I really wanted this place to be nice but I cant bring myself to give it more than 3 stars The food was average at best. They try to elevate it by putting micro greens on it but in my opinion it was a bit of a lipstick on a pig situation. And then there s the service. Or the lack thereof it took forever to wait for someone to take order and then 2 x forever to actually receive the food. The space itself is beautiful and that s pretty much all they have going

They have a great patio that looks so inviting. My wife and I went here for a date night and came away disappointed. We received our drinks promptly and after that didnt see our waitress again until 45 minutes later when our food arrived mostly cold. I sent my meal back since I saw it sitting on the counter about 6 minutes before my wifes meal was ready. Her wagyu beef burger was okay, but nothing special and the loaded potato was lukewarm. Overall not a great visit.

The food is tasty and the ambience is cool... Tip: if you are not someone that tends to over eat, share a plate with somebody! The portions are way too big for me, and others. I looked around and lots of food gets wasted as it is hard to finish everything on the plate. I hope they could readjust the portions to waste less. Also, they are not adaptable at all. For example, if you ask for a dish with scrambled eggs instead of poached, they cannot accommodate that simple ask. Weird.

Might have been an off day due to weather and a wedding, but while the service was outstanding and the servers were great and accommodating, the food left a lot to desire. Might be worth trying again on another day, but we order literally all of their recommendations, from the grilled romaine ceasar salad, the mushroom based sandwich, and the salmon on sourdough bread, etc. and it it was all just meh to the group. Were not picky eaters, but everything seemed just underseasoned, and underwhelming. Once again, kitchen may have been swamped, so I may return another day to adjust the review, but after this one visit, Id say come for the patio and coop underground bar, the drinks were good, but the food items we order Id skip.

For $17 without tax I expect a knockout tasty cocktail with actual alcohol in it...but student pubs consistently make better cocktails than that Rhubarb/lemonaide/gin cocktail I ordered, which was mostly tepid lemon juice and a whisper of gin. The menu is stiflingly pretentious and hideously overpriced. Staff was pushy when we (for some reason) didnt want to order more drinks/dinner. Patio would be packed if not for cutthroat prices without the quality to match.

I would have loved more spaces that cater to the café user rather than the brunch goer. The remodel, while beautiful, is certainly a departure from the previous café identity. This is a shame given the lack of these spaces surrounding ottawa U. It felt like sitting in and opening my laptop was an imposition, and that the servers were unhappy that we werent eating.

Excellent atmosphere which really sets the stage for a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the food and service fell well short of expectations. Everyone in our party was disappointed in their food and we all considered it below average. The truth is we have had better food at a local pub for half the price. However, it was the slow and non-attentive service that motivated me to write this review. It can be best described as clueless. We were the first party in the restaurant and showed up 15 minutes prior to our reservation. We had a comfortable 2 hours to eat before the start time of a nearby event which the restaurant made us late to despite us letting them know ahead of time and repeatedly reminding them as we got closer to being late. We sat with empty glasses for most of the evening and didn t even get to consider having dessert since the service was so slow. We waited about 30 minutes after eating for our bill and ultimately had to tell the waitress what we had ordered as she couldn t remember. All the staff were nice and we all were friendly with them but like I said - they were just clueless. All our requests and reminders just fell on deaf ears. It wasn t until we got home after the event a couple hours later that we realized everyone was still hungry because the portions were so small. The below average quality and service just eclipsed any discussion about the portions. We won t return and will steer other friends clear.

Updating this review to say that the pastries and bakery portion of the business are fantastic. I havent ordered for a brunch or dinner service since the below. ve been to Working Title on four occasions now, spread across several weeks. I desperately wanted this place to be good as I live right around the corner, but it may be one of the worst brunch experiences Ive had. On different occasions ive had the classic breakfast, the chorizo dish, mushrooms on toast, and the eggs benedict. The quality of every single dish was not even subpar - it was singularly terrible and exemplary of an incredibly lazy kitchen staff. The potatoes are obviously deep fat fried in advance of service and then reheated (probably in a microwave). They are incredibly dry, flavourless, and have a gritty texture around the exterior that suggests the potatoes havent been washed properly. The bagged lettuce mix they use is not properly picked through, so you often end up with clumps of rotting lettuce. The scrambled eggs are also obviously cooked in advance as they come out as rubber and barely luke-warm, which is a theme throughout every meal - improperly heated food. The singular thing cooked to order are poached eggs. Mushrooms on toast was cold and didnt serve nearly enough mushrooms for the exorbitant price. Chorizo was dryyyyyyyy, again suggesting it was cooked in a deep fat fryer in advance. Simply, the quality is way way way below par before even factoring in the frankly ridiculous prices (everything is ~$18-25, with an average of ~$22 from memory). Service was also shocking. I had the displeasure of having the same blonde waitress on each of my visits who is perhaps one of the coldest people ive ever encountered. She was completely missing from service, only taking orders and payment while the kitchen porters and cafe staff ran my actual orders or refilled my water. Even during check out, she doesnt even gave the courtesy to stay at your table; she wanders off to chat with coworkers or fiddle on her mobile, leaving the machine at your table to checkout yourself. She never once said a common courtesy of thank you or have a nice day, let alone any kind of small talk. And the cherry on top of this miserable food and this shocking service, the resto defaults to an 18% gratuity suggestion. It leaves me with the singular thought: are you mad? Cappuccino was okay, but not quite enough for the price point. The space has potential, but the offerings are shocking for a mid 2000s Holiday Inn and Breakfast, let alone an independent resto in 2024. Avoid until there is marked improvement.

I have gone to the restaurant many, many times and it has been excellent. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been awful. Sadly, my most recent visit has caused me to never want to go back. I went to go eat on the terrace because the indoor restaurant was full. The terrace does not require reservations so I was hopeful I would be able to get a table. When I arrived a table for four was just opened up by a party leaving. The hostess told us to wait at the bar and assured us that it would only be about a ten minute wait for them to clear and clean the table. My party of four was told that we would be brought water and menus while we wait. We waited for about 5 mins when the manager came and told us the same thing, informing us that they were also having a big wedding party and were very busy but she assured us again that we would have a table within 10 mins. We waited and cups were brought with not water or menus. They came and filled up one and half of our cups saying they would bring more water to fill the rest, they never did. Two parties of two arrived a little while after we arrived who were also seated at the bar waiting for a table. They were both brought menus and water within mini a of their arrival while we had been waiting for at least 15 mins with no menus or water. By this time a table of two and another table of four had opened up. They were sitting empty, plates cleared. There were enough tables for all of the wrong parties to be seated and were not needed as there are no reservations on the terrace. The manager was no where to be seen and there was only one server working for the whole busy terrace. We have had this server before and she was very kind but tonight she was understandably overwhelmed would not even look at us. I do not blame her as it was the fault of the manager for not scheduling more people to help knowing they would be busy. This is a busy season and the restaurant was already hosting the wedding, the manager she have had more help to accommodate the rush or not had the terrace open if she knew it would be too overwhelming. We waited for almost 40 mins with no menus or water. The party of two that arrived AFTER us was seated at a table for four! Nobody came to talk to us after we arrived. This made no sense when we arrived first and there was table for two open! Regardless there was still another table for four open. We tried getting the attention of a server but it was very difficult. Finally we got someone s attention and he told us he would check. So after 40 mins they offered us a table but at this point we were so frustrated we decided to leave. We could see they were overwhelmed and the food was going to take a long time. If they had told us at the beginning that the wait would be so long or that they couldn t accommodate us than I would not be waiting this review. This was an horrible experience especially knowing how wonderful this restaurant used to be. I don t know if the management had changed but the manager should be appalled at the way her service was conducted. I am really sad to see such a great restaurant fall down like this. Either know your limits or learn to work better in a rush because that is the restaurant business. This was not the only bad experience I ve had and thus The Working Title has lost what used to be a very happy customer. I am truly sad and frustrated by this poor management and rudeness. Do better.

This resto has hands-down THE BEST charcuterie board Ive tried in Ottawa. In addition to delicious meats and cheeses, if you enjoy pickled things as much as I do, youll love this board. Their pickled cantaloupe is a flavour I now dream of. In addition to a beautiful interior, Working Title also has one of Ottawas loveliest terraces, a great place to stop for a drink before moving inside for dinner. Beautiful setting for patio. Service was friendly though 2/5 of our party thought it was overly familiar and a bit inauthentic. High hopes from the menu- 3 of us ordered the wagyu burger with side of potatoes. One ordered braised beef dish. Surprised to see that the side order of potatoes was room temperature potatoes with sour cream and cold cheese flakes. This is the opposite of elevating the raw ingredients- could the chef not have melted the cheese or roast the potato halves so there would be some crisp and caramelization? Burger was served on generic bun- not toasted or buttered. Patty was substantial but flavourless. Not sure what the toppings were but pretty bland. The braised beef dish was flakes of dried beef on 2 halves of a cooked potato. Looked like a treatment for leftovers. I was looking for a cold beer - a crispy European Pilsner but all their options were local breweries. What was recommended looked like dishwater and tasted horrible. Just because it is local and craft does not mean that it measures up. I was hopeful but was disappointed. Overly reliant on setting and cheerful service. Food and drink were inferior to any chain restaurant like Montana s. This place could be amazing with some attention to food and drink.

Overall an okay experience. There was an issue with finalizing my group booking which resulted in a menu a little different than initially expected. It ended up being fine due to the kindness of the owner who accommodated and honoured my reservation - she was even nice enough to offer complimentary pastries (which were delicious) as well as some Prosecco. I wouldn t have left a review if not for the service which truly was awful The waitress took over an hour to place our orders! We had ordered some coffees as well with milk and she took over ten minutes to come back with the dairy accompaniments. She did not quality check our table and was completely inattentive. At the end, it took over 30 minutes for her to bring our bills - she had them wrong at least 3 or 4 times, which eventually my group conceded to paying for bills that are not their own. I was initially disappointed in the reservation situation but the service really hit the nail in the head for me. We were nine people and every single person was in absolute shock over how the waitress had absolutely no idea who had what food item - the billing was truly appalling. Some of us work in the service industry and we really tried to be understanding but this was beyond I can t say I d recommend having an event at Working Title, unfortunately.

The one downside is there seems to be a lot of turnover of staff, and they arent always trained well. The coffee is very inconsistent based on whos working. Ill get an amazing flat white some days, and a really bad one the next. If they can fix this, itd be an easy 5/5!

Preface. Dinner, Wednesday night at 6pm. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Have been here once before for brunch, food was excellent service was okay. Came again for a birthday dinner, food was okay, good flavour. Service however was literally non-existant. Feel like nobody is managing the place, staff wander around aimlessly while your water glass sits empty, your drink is empty. Food took forever, and we watched it sit under a warmer while the waitress played at the cash and chatted with another employee. Really poor service. Asked for pepper, waitress went to serve others, we asked a chef for it, waitress came back with pepper when our plates were nearly empty, and laughed...oh guess you found some. Waitress left for break presumably, and we had no sevice for nearly half an hour. Other tables also had to keep beckoning for service. There were 4 seated tables in the restaurant. Not sure Ill return, nor recommend. Sad because the food is good and the atmosphere is lovely. Id like to say its because of the poor staffing situation the food industry is undergoing, but I would have to say its possibly more a situation of poor management and training.

Super cute and unique location. Unfortunately that s the only positive aspect of my experience. I visited for brunch. Service was painfully slow, our food was clearly pre-made and reheated, the greens in the salad were wilted and mushy. Getting a glass of water was like pulling teeth it took so much effort. The worst part is that my coffee cup was dirty as the server brought it to the table, upon noticing it she took the cup and wiped the inside of it WITH HER BARE HAND. She then proceeded to put the cup down and pour coffee into it as normal. I couldn t believe my eyes, as someone who is a former server, I was appalled at the unsanitary behaviour. I ll never return. Edit: owner reached out to apologize and offer a refund, which is very appreciated!

Very nice ambience and great service! The drink menu was large and everything we tried was good. Unfortunately I found the food underwhelming given the cost. Both the side pork and the beef suffered from dry vegetables and small portion sizes for high cost. The pork was kind of tough as well. The appetizers (bread plate, salad) had huge portion sizes so we didnt leave hungry.

Really disappointed with the lower quality and higher cost bakery goods at working title now. Used to be my go to for pastries but find the croissants and baguettes are over cooked, dry and terribly expensive. This summer also came for drinks and snacks on the patio and they ran out of charcuterie boards? Not sure how that is possible but seemingly unprepared to serve guests. Hope the decline doesnt continue and theyre able to turn around this neighbourhood gem.

What a pretty little place to have a brunch. You can see into the kitchen, and watch the baker as he crafts these delicious breads. My meal was very delicious, maybe a higher price point though. It has a great atmosphere and the exposed brick really adds to the aesthetic. Parking: Might be a nice place to Uber or walk to, parking is dependent on availability at street. I got lucky though, and parked around the corner

Apologies for the lengthy of the review but I really felt it necessary to sharey experience. We tried working kitchen a year(possibly 2) ago on mothers day and were amazed with the quality and service so decided to try it again for my wifes birthday breakfast on December 31, 2023, and were extremely disappointed with the food. We ordered a pastry basket to start our meal. Cant go wrong with pastries here. They seem to always be fresh and are DELICIOUS! As soon as you walk in you are welcomed by the fresh scent of freshly baked bread and pastries and can see the chefs hard preparing the dough for bread and pastries. The problems began once we received our meals. We ordered 3 classic breakfasts. The sourdough bread was pre-toasted and reheated when served, potatoes were also premade and reheated when served leaving them cold and rubbery. The eggs were also premade and reheated to serve and each plate got the equivalent of Id say one egg. I had enough egg to eat with one half of a piece of my reheated sourdough bread. The one plate that had cheese added to their eggs received a few unmelted pieces of a slice of cheese on top of the small portion of eggs. A whole slice of cheese clearly would have been way too much for the amount of egg given so they just cut off a few pieces of a slice and threw it over the egg not even bothering to melt it. Next was the brioche French toast which looked delicious, no complaints with that meal. The vegan skillet also looked excellent. The chorizo + salsa roja was served with raw eggs. I must say that the service was once excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant outstanding, much like our first visit. However, it is extremely disappointing to see such a dip with the food quality in such an expensive establishment. We spent over $150 for food quality that I would expect to get from a cheap diner or McDonalds. Even the coffee served was cold and not fresh. This is not a place that I would expect to be served premade/reheated food. When we came to working kitchen last year for mothers day I was so pleased with the experience. We were lucky enough to have a chat with the owner who was extremely friendly and we let her know how pleased we were with our experience. I thought I had found a replacement for Bakers Street, the best breakfast spot in the city that unfortunately closed down a few years ago but this second visit has me thinking otherwise. The atmosphere here is second to none, absolutely beautiful place and friendly service but I expect much better food quality from this type of establishment.

Tucked inside a charming repurposed church, its a go-to for a cozy brunch experience. The atmosphere is inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends. Their charcuterie comes highly recommended a delightful start to any brunch. The standout for me was the Mushroom Fricassee burger, one of the best Ive had. And the espresso served in a cute little red cup just adds to the charm. This place is a celebration of local produce and a great spot for anyone looking for a unique, comfortable dining experience in the heart of the city.

The service was slow and inattentive. Either the system glitched or our server forgot about our order, but we sat waiting for 40 minutes. When my brunch salad finally arrived, it was still missing the eggs, so I had to sit and wait for another 5-10 minutes. The salad itself was bland and not worth the $20 I paid for it. The food was largely good, although there were some complaints around the table about overcooked meat. Other than that, theyve got options for vegetarians and vegans and their apps are quite tasty. Most noteworthy was their bread and dips appetizer. The bread is baked in-house, the slices are huge (and delicious), and the spreads were equally tasty!

I really wish I could leave a better review. We came for brunch with a reservation and waited for the host. A few groups came after us with a reservation at the same time and same people (2) and were seated before us. The host ignored us while she took away the other groups. When we were seated, we waited at least 10 minutes before we even got water and another 20 minutes before our waiter took our orders. If it was busy, I would understand but it was not. The waiter was standing and laughing with the other employees. It took another half an hour for our food. We were never checked upon once when we got our food. My friend got the French toast which was supposed to have vanilla ice cream (as per the menu) but instead was given chocolate ice cream (odd choice for French toast). The sourdough I got was stale. We tried to get somebody to bring us the bill for over 40 minutes to no avail. Disappointed considering this is a higher end place.

The only thing we enjoyed were the lemonades and the atmosphere Other than that we ordered cauliflower entrée, it came raw with some herbs on it.. inedible, we left it as is, tough to chew, hard on the stomach. Another entrée was the bread and spreads, we received a pound of bread and 3 small cups of spread that could be spread on one piece and the rest of the bread then went to waste. While I have never hired them for catering, they do offer private parties, as they have a gorgeous space inside for dining. While its true that the prices here are a bit higher than other places, the good quality of their food more than makes up for this in my view.

The smoothies bowl did not have any smoothie (?) but was just three scoops of sorbet (not necessarily what youd have for breakfast) while the lox croissant did not come with the caperberries as it should have according to the menu, which made it lack a bit in flavours and texture. The vegan breakfast bowl was basically just a salad. Portions were definitely on the smaller side for the price paid. One of us asked for more coffee, which we never received. The outdoor terrace was lovely, and our server was very kind. Hopefully, they improve on the food because the place is beautiful. Hope they accept our criticism! Might come back for pastries.

I came for the cafe and will probably not come again. One staff member was extremely rude to my friend and I while we were seated and working quietly on our laptops. We were asked to move tables because we were not ordering dinner, which is fine. But the manner in which we were addressed reflected disrespect on the part of the staff-member towards people who were equally patrons of the restaurant/cafe. Not to mention there was an astonishing 2 parties that actually dined for the 3 hours I was at the restaurant. After that it took another 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, so almost an hour in which is weird because it was not busy at all and we were some of the only customers there. We had been planning to order a couple of dishes to share, but because the service was so slow we only ended up ordering one app as we were worried how long it would take to get our food as we had an event to attend later that evening. We also would have ordered more drinks had the service been quicker, so they missed out on more money they could have gotten had the servers been more attentive. The bread we received with the burrata was cold and stale. Overpriced mediocre food. 2 stars is only for the cozy ambience and the host who kindly seated us and offered to hang our coats.

This is an ambitious and kind hearted effort to bring food and community to Sandy Hill without compromising quality or service. Some tastes (and drinks) are great, some surprising, and some maybe just not my thing. But the quality of ingredients is high, the effort to make a difference in whats in your cup and on your plate is obvious, and the ambiance is personal and friendly. On top of that the price is reasonable in contrast to what Rowan found (dinner with drinks for less than say, Chez Lucien). Hope to see a cosy atmosphere in the winter in the basement - ideal showcase for local artists!Edit. Prices have risen somewhat. I know that it is necessary to pay for staff. Sausage had lots of little pieces of cartilage in it. Food was cold. Could definitely get a better eggs benedict at a diner for much cheaper. Reading the reviews, a lot of others have the same feedback as me. Its weird that they have yet to improve the quality of their food. Staff are friendly, but service was not great. Drinks came fast, and my server did come to check up on how everything was, so I appreciated that. The hostess did not get rid of the extra settings on the table. Two tables seated after us got their orders taken before us. Waited around 20 minutes to be seen and given water, a more tedious wait than usual because of the extreme heat and only seats available were outside. Server went to bill two tables who had finished their food after us. Finally, the manager must have seen us waiting and came to give us the bill. They have a very nice location with great ambience, it was a pity that the food and service could not keep up. Maybe their diner menu is prepared with more care, but I would not go back for brunch.

Their bakery is pretty awseome, alongside their coffee. However, I m giving this a 2-star because of the sit down experience. I gave this restaurant a few tries, since I live close by. However, the service has been horrendous every time. We have been waiting for a long time every time to get greeted by the server; at one point at brunch, we almost left before the server noticed. I don t blame the servers, it seems like management has no idea how to organize them in an orderly fashion, they are running all over the place and don t seem to be assigned to a specific spot. The quality of the food also doesn t match the price. I was very disappointed with the vegan charcuterie board in particular, it consisted of mostly salad and berries, with stale bread and cheese no different than store bought brands (I would usually expect quality cashew cheese. Brunch was very good, but not worth it for the poor service. I might be coming back from cocktails again, but definitely not any time soon for lunch.

I have such mixed feelings about this place. I really want it to succeed it s a great neighbourhood spot (I live nearby) with a fantastic patio. But I feel like when wedding season ramps up, this cafe and resto gets neglected a bit (because this resto is part of a larger building that does events). First, the cafe it s counter service in the mornings, and you can buy a coffee and a pastry and sit wherever you like. The coffee is just ok, but the pastries are really excellent. For the dinner service (and brunch and lunch too), things fall apart a bit. I am very sympathetic to staff shortages these days so I try to take longer waits in stride. But we ve been outright overlooked multiple times while trying to dine here like staff just walking right by us, no one even bothering to say I ll be with you soon . Food wise, the dinner menu always feels too heavy, and attempting to be too upscale, for the season. The place has the feel of a casual neighborhood spot, but the food does not match. I really want this to be my neighborhood spot, but I can t afford to eat here very often. Sometimes there s a burger on the menu and sometimes there s mostly $34 entrees. And the food itself is good, but if I m going out for a $34 main dish then I m going to go somewhere a little more well known for their gastronomy instead, not this restaurant with a casual cafe feel and not-great service. I do appreciate, however, that they re attempting to do more casual snacks and drinks in a back room, with live music. That feels more approachable. Like I said, I really want this place to succeed. For now I have very mixed feelings. I hope they re able to develop more of a solid identity instead of trying to be too many things.

2 years ago: Its a nice spot and the staff is friendly. 1 stars refers to the quality to price. Its already overpriced for what you get for food and drinks not to mention the 5$ covid charge per person. I get it, its covid and they need to stay afloat but that should be reflected in the price which it does at 21$ for a small basic bowl of veggies and cheese or tofu. The owner sets the price and should account for extra costs of covid in it without 5$ a person in charge. They are already charging over 100% for alcohol and probably upwards of 40% for food which is normal for restaurants. It just doesnt make sense to force all customers to pay 5$ extra when they are already paying an inflated rate on the menu that the owner decides on and can increase each menu to improve profit instead of 5$ charge a head. A money-grab in my opinion. Definitely wont be back until this charge is knocked off, it isnt a good way to keep customers and ensure their return. Edited to 1 star because I called and asked if they still had the charge and they tried to make me think I was crazy and that they never did that.

Had an amazing evening enjoying one of these final warm nights of the season. Amelia (best hostess ever!!) and the staff were so kind and set up a spot just for us on the terrace. Dinner and drinks were great, and we enjoyed fantastic live music at Manifesto Lounge after our meal. Hope to come again soon!

Went for a nice cozy anniversary dinner, in late October so it was indoor dining. Absolutely loved the food! We ordered a charcuterie board, cocktails and mains. The charcuterie board which is usually for 2 people was packed with stuff because we said it was an anniversary dinner. (Had to take home most of it, ended up in our sandwiches the next few days) Mains were so good! I Ioved the stuffed chicken I ordered, cooked beautifully. And my husband enjoyed the beef. We were so full after the meal we thought of skipping dessert, but the chef made us a pavlova with berries to share and nibble while we had some coffee. We had the pleasure of being served by the owner herself. Very pleasant lady, and since we also live in the Sandy Hill area we had quite a friendly chat with her. Patio dining opens up when the weathers good, and its quite popular. So make reservations ahead to get a place. It also has a great bakery with fresh bread and yummy pastries, which runs out because of many happy frequent customers. All in all Im totally happy living so close to such a great local dining experience.

Delicious food and a nice space. Its loud, but manageable. The food is fun and different, we were there for brunch which was delicious and overall very happy with our meal and flavours. Great beer on tap! Dominion City :) Server unfortunately hurt our experience. It took us 20-25 minutes for us to get our bill after he cleared our plates and confirmed we were finished. My mom was excited to get herself a coffee after our meal but didnt get the opportunity. He was missing for most of that time and then walked by us multiple times while we tried to get his attention. He also walked to another server at the bar with a knife, sharp end up, which we thought was rather unprofessional. An establishment that hires young, probably new, servers so hopefully they learn and this review is no longer needed. Its a convenient spot, and there are not a lot of comparable restaurants in Sandy Hill, but I had expected to leave the meal much happier than I did. Brunch was $22 each and we spent nearly $90 for the 2 of us.

Three separate areas. A coffee shop, a dining area and a formal area. In the summer time an outdoor patio.

We went for brunch and the service was good, the room is beautiful, but the food was disappointing. The eggs Benedict was good. The vegan options, (avocado toast and vegan omelette) were tiny. The omelette was about three bites and was served with no more than a small side salad ($22). I d recommend adding some potatoes or toast at least.

Great brunch menu!

I would never eat there again, I had the Eggs Benedict and I could not eat, it tasted like vinegar and potatoes were so dry. Our server didn t offer any toppings. Our plates were never picked up and server never came back to ask if we needed anything else. Then I decided to get some breads from the bakery, I ordered specific, got home and to my surprise I didn t even get what I ordered. Will not return, highly disappointing.

Lovely bakery and eatery tucked down into the basement of an old church. I got a homey farmhouse feel that was accented with chic modern elements and all ensconced by the original stone walls. It all looked good. They had a decent selection of pastries and breads and prepared foods to take home and warm up/ cook yourself. The coffee on brew was enjoyable.
