Chop Steakhouse & Bar in Ottawa

This was better than The Keg, but that s not saying much. The eggnog martini cocktail was delicious, but tiny. The wedge salad was great. The steak itself was closer to medium than medium rare and didn t have much crust. My wife got the loaded mashed potatoes, but they barely had anything in them. It was an average meal overall. Our waitress was lovely.

French onion soup was served cold and congealed. Escargot was flavourless and barely warm. Brussels sprouts were charred and burnt all the way through. Servers took 20 minutes to deliver rather overpriced drinks and barely checked in. $11 for a 12oz pint is ridiculous. Pistachio crusted cod was dry. Side veggies were undercooked and squash was unpeeled. Flavour was one dimensional at best. Burger was decent but uninspired at the price point. A $225 meal for food we couldn t enjoy (not that we were asked how the food was). And I haven t even mentioned the other couple s overcooked and unseasoned steak. Not sure we ll be returning unless there are serious improvements. It might be busy season but we are paying for a good experience, not an endurance test.

Have been here twice in 1 month and had an absolutely wonderful experience both times! The food was delicious, but what really stood out was the amazing service. Talina was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. They went above and beyond to make our dining experience enjoyable. We were celebrating a birthday with two small kids. Our food was great, kids were given free starters and dessert. All the food was very tasty and service by Donovan was exceptional!

Had dinner on the wood, I ordered the large prime rib and my friend ordered the rib steak. When the food came out the steak was over cooked so they had to make a new one. My prime rib looked good but it was very chewy in the middle but the cap was good. The recooked steak was good for my friend. Sadly to say every time I come to chopped hoping the prime rib isn t chewy, I m always disappointed. To be a steak house the prime rib should be amazing and it falls very short of this. Honestly I believe it s the quality of the meat Chopped purchases because I ve had better quality steaks from independent grocer. Sorry Chopped, we won t be back, the quality of the meat for the prices you charge just isn t there. If anyone wants an amazing prime rib, wait for Milestones to put it back in their special menu, best prime rib I ever had in my life, you could cut it with a fork.

I have visited this restaurant 6 times. Anytime I sat in dining (two times), I got first class service. If they are busy, tables are at a premium and you are alone and offer to sit at the lounge to help out with the crowding...you will be on your own. I get the feeling if you are at the bar, and you want a full meal, you are annoying them immensely. You just kind of feel it. I can appreciate the poor bartender is swamped, the servers coming through are trying to serve their own tables, there are bigger fish to fry then one person at the bar. Tonight I sat for 40 minutes at the bar with a menu after being seated and could not get anyone to take my order. Sure I could have firmly advocated and voiced my needs; but if I want to spend 200 plus dollars on a meal I feel one shouldnt have to. I left the restaurant and crossed the street to a different restaurant. immediate 5 star service...at their lounge. Make a reservation. If they are busy, just dont go there. The food here is excellent. For the most part the servers are excellent. But 4 out of 4 disaster lounge seats have me questioning my repeat visits.

We were in town on business and went to Chops steakhouse for dinner. The food was great and the service was even better. Our waitresses name was Jodi and she was amazing. Very friendly and she made us feel very welcomed. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

Wow, what an amazingly intimate restaurant. The ambiance is warm and surprisingly private, and the food is over the top decadence and truly worth it. My new fav restaurant.

On Saturday December 14th I was quite disappointed with my experience at Chop steakhouse. I ordered a T-bone steak, which I was looking forward to, but to my surprise, it was served already cut. This not only affected the presentation but also left me questioning the quality and freshness of the meat. A steak should be served whole to truly appreciate its flavor and texture. I expected better from a place known for its steaks. On the website it s shown as a full bone in steak. When i was served I kindly asked for a box because I did not want to eat the steak anymore my waitress then insisted that she bring the manager so I did not refuse. The manager Teresa then proceeded to talk to me in a baby like manner telling me that I should ve told before hand, I guess she is right but at the same time I shouldn t I need to say don t cut my 100$ steak she then offered me a desert to which I refused. I like chop and I really wish this hadn t happened I don t mind spending 200$ or even more at chop like I ve done in the past but something this is just unacceptable and I am still shocked a steakhouse would serve a 100$ steak already cut. It s just upsetting that s all

Amazing juicy steak in all varieties of dishes but remember you were going there for their steak. It is a very charming cosy space, makes you feel luxurious with a high ceilings and trendy hardware. The staff is super friendly and kind and professional. People go there as families to relax in the lower seating area on one side or as couples to show off their attire on the trendy bar side with big TVs. Lol. Vegetarian options: Yes, you can have salads without any meat in it. As well as other appetizers without meat. Kid-friendliness: Yes yes kid friendly

I just got one of those weird explanations from the restaurant manager about my order. I ve ordered the beet goat salad a few times from Chop. Previously, they filled a large container with the salad including sliced avocado and pumpkin seeds. This time, they gave me a small container with no avocado nor seeds. According to the manager, I was lucky to get the big container on my previous orders. Today s salad size and ingredients were the correct one. Really? I honestly think they should have accepted my feedback and work on the inconsistent service issue they have.

Best steak Ive had in a long while. The service was excellent. The staff was courteous, very personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them a visit. Parking: We sat in the dining room and not the lounge. The restaurant was busy, on a Wednesday evening. So, making a reservation is recommended. The entire restaurant is at ground (parking lot) level. Wheelchair accessibility: Parking lot walkway leading through front door is wheelchair accessible.

Update: Talina was awesome! My husband got the wrong old fashioned and she immediately replaced it. Smiling the whole time, engaging with the kids, and very kind. Update: Arthur was fantastic! We returned for dinner, and not only did he provide excellent service, but he also kept us entertained throughout the evening. The pineapple dessert was absolutely delicious! My family and I visited Chop for the first time. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming. Our waiter was friendly and went through the menu for us. Since it was our first time, we had a complimentary appetizer - which was delicious! Kids enjoyed their food, and so did we. For drinks I had the pink lemonade... loved it! The only downside was that after the appetizers (shrimps were yummy!), the kids meals came right away, which was great. However, it took about 30 minutes for my meal and my husbands meal to be served (it was a busy night). By that time, the kids were done eating and started becoming restless. It would have been nice to have all the main courses together. Other than that, it was a great experience. Highly recommended!

My wife and I attended their Hunt Club location for the first time and found ourselves thoroughly disappointed with our experience. We ordered medium rare for our steaks but both came very well done, almost to the point of being burnt. Portions were quite small despite the pricing and the food quality was just not up to par. I ordered a coffee with my dessert and the mug was served with a giant fresh lipstick mark on the rim causing me to question the cleanliness of their dishes and utensils. Our server replaced the mug but offered no discount or compensation. With the entirety of our meal (appetizers, entrees, wine, and dessert) coming in at just under 300 dollars, we expected much better. The Keg, located just a few kilometers east offers far better quality, service, cleanliness, class, and value.

I came to Chopped this afternoon to celebrate my brother in laws birthday. My experience here was so unbelievably perfect. Our server, Isabelle, was so fast, attentive and had such a good spirit. This was my first time here and I just cant wait to come back. The food was perfect. I had the seafood linguini with a white sauce instead of the red. If I could give this place more stars I would.

I was there on a very quiet Monday afternoon but the burger was great and the service was excellent.

This is a great steak place. They used to serve in-house baked bread for free while you waited for your meal...they no longer do that. The charge for bread seemed a bit high to order so we ordered mains+apps right away. Ive gone to this location three times and its always been good. The consistency is nice & the service is good. There is not alot of riff -raff clientele so it is nice to go here for a special occasion. Vegetarian options: Sides ... appetizers Kid-friendliness: It probably is but I feel like unruly kids would ruin the vibe. Its dark and more of an adult place. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Hubby and I dined here for the first time the other night. It was fabulous to say the least. Our server Amanda was prompt and knowledgeable; as well as kind, and easily understood. The atmosphere was calm and beautifully decorated; also comfortable. The food was to die for! We had the best steaks of our lives and got to try some new things too, like their delicious goat cheese dip (which was complimentary due to it neing our first visit) and their gnocchi. Hubby enjoyed the house red wine, and I had a delicious pink lemonade. We 100% recommend! We definitely will be going back.

We were meeting with some old friends and as we had enjoyed Chop before we decided to meet for Happy Hour. When we arrived we asked if we could be seated at a table rather than the Bar as we are all elderly and found the booth seating a bit of a challenge. The staff graciously agreed. Our server Morgan was a treasure ensuring we were comfortable and he was very attentive, answering all questions with tack and patience. We all ordered the Thai Garlic Shrimp and the Steak Frits from the Happy Hour menu and all six of us were very pleased that each of our steaks were cooked to perfection. All in all a great experience and one we will repeat again.

I recently dined at Chop Steakhouse with a large party of 11. Unfortunately, I left my glasses behind that night and called the restaurant the next day to see if they had been found. I was disappointed to be told that they didn t have them. Given the size of our table and the fact that it happened the night before, I expected better service and accountability in handling lost items. Its frustrating and inconvenient to lose something like glasses, and I wish the staff had been more helpful in locating them. Unfortunately, this experience left a sour note after an otherwise good evening.

Perfect place for a special celebration. Came here for my wives birthday. I had the rybeye (non smoked, medium) and she has the striploin (medium rare). Very tasty! The appetizers and desert was also good.

Had a large corporate event last night. The manager in the grey dress kept harassing us to stay in a corner when the place was basically empty. We werent being loud, we werent bothering anyone. She had a huge attitude problem all night, to the point where our CEO had to ask her what her problem was. People were going 35-40 mins with no drinks. Really sad to see cause this spot used to be so good, but clearly management has changed. Food was very good, but would not bring a group there again. company is considering other options for next year.

A friend spoke so highly of this place that when I arrived it was one let down after another. The hostess needed confirmation from a supervisor if she could give us one of the 10 free tables of 4 at 2pm. Service was good, no complaints. I ordered a smoked rib steak medium rare and I received a medium. A little disappointing. Tuna tataki, nothing to write home about. Escargot in mushroom, to much breadcrumbs, literally much to much. Espresso was like a chicken soup, a dead shot.

Great ambiance. Pricey though. With Baton Rouge next door giving lessons on what actual portion sizes should be at this price point Chop could learn a few things. Service was very good. Still not Keg level either. Apparently their happy hour is good though.

The food is absolutely amazing, the professional atmosphere and polite staff make the dinning experience overwhelmingly enjoyable. By far some of the most considerate restaurants that enjoy creating smiles with every meal. Id always recommend and give this restaurant my full support, and thank them for there delicious meals.

Service and food was excellent, rib eye was excellent, likely best in town, baked potato and sides were also excellent. Sparkling Sangria was mediocre. Amanda provided outstanding service. Dont usually give 5 stars but this place deserves it

I had a horrible experience here and had I brought it to the managers attention. He said he would compensate me and send me a gift card which I didn t even receive, and I wanted to escalate it further, but obviously it didn t get escalated to the right person will never come here again.

Absolutely 5 starts. Steaks were really good along with delicious sauces. Very classy place with unique architecture. Burger was also good. Staff were professional and polite. I would say youll get maximum value per dollar spent. Will definitely come back if in Ottawa again

What a phenomenal experience from the start to the end! We were welcomed with a taster of their dip since this is our first visit. The appetizer and prime rib did not disappoint and were absolutely delicious. Our stewardess Larissa was awesome and kind! Everything is top-notch.

I visit this site at least 10 times a year and have held our company Christmas Apart in the past. The steaks are incredible. I have tried each one Can be busy at times. Plenty of free parking Service is usually top notch. I say usually because a few weeks ago it seemed to be not at their standard. Now saying that , there was a trainee with the server. It was not him but the server himself. Oh well one time Im the many visits this year is not bad Would highly recommended this location i have been to other sites and the food has always been great. Fabulous meal. The service was great and extra kudos to Isabelle, who, even being the only one on the floor (and quite busy), was very pleasant and a joy to deal with. She genuinely likes what she does and it comes through in her pleasant personality.

SO good. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and we had the most amazing service thanks to Larysa. She was so polite and kind. They gifted us a glass of Prosecco for our anniversary as well as a small appetizer. After our insanely delicious meal, the staff signed a card saying happy anniversary it seriously does not get better than that. Definitely recommend

The food is great, real food from good cooks. We were disappointed how dirty the restaurant was. The glass partitians between tables are caked in spit and splatter, obviously there for months or even longer.. Very odd that management doesnt care about cleanliness. Will give them one more chance to see if they clean the eating areas. Service was excellent.

The Top Sirloin Steak & Oscar dinner I had tonight was less than spectacular let me tell you. The brussel sprouts were hard, bitter and undercooked and the steak was so full of fat, that I had to spit out 5 pieces. I definitely wouldve expected a better food experience from my $42 dinner. Everything from the service to the food was amazing! The mushroom goat cheese app was so good. I also ordered the steak oscar and mini creme brulee. The cook on my steak was perfect and I would definitely return if back in the area!

I emailed them to book for a large group ( celebration of a birthday ) about 2 weeks ago and didnt hear anything back, so decided to go see them and speak to the manager. She apologized and said we were fully booked. I said that s not fair. That s poor customer service when it comes to email. It shouldn t be acceptable.

My husband took me to this restaurant for my birthday because he wanted me to have a memorable steak experience. It was my first time ordering steak at a restaurant, so I was really excited. I decided on the center-cut New York steak, hoping for a perfect meal. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The steak had a strong bacon smell and taste, which was unexpected and unappetizing. It seemed like it had been either grilled or rested in bacon grease. This really affected the overall experience, as I was looking forward to the pure flavor of the steak itself.

Donovan provided us with the best service. He was really nice to us and gave us quality in choosing a good menu. We stayed at the hotel next door because the plane was cancelled and we had a great dining experience with this great restaurant right next door.

On the pricier side however well worth every penny

Chop is now my Favorite steakhouse in all of Ottawa. It puts all the others to shame. The way they cook their steak is amazing and the chicken dishes too. We also have their steak bites (appetizer) I must say I never had anything like this before. Five star review for me.

Four of us went for a friends birthday dinner. The food was delicious, including the appetizers and wine. Great atmosphere and exceptional service. Everyone was so attentive and made sure we were happy with our meals. We all tried different dishes from steak and lobster to cod and salmon. Plates arrived piping hot with a lot of attention to detail. Birthday dessert was comped for our friend. We will definitely be back.

Disappointed. Ive eaten here before and it was fine. Now I paid $17 for a kids salmon about 30 minutes ago, check out the portion of fish compared to the photo on their website (and what Ive gotten before). If you want to know approximate size compare it to the piece of zucchini next to it.

Enjoyed an excellent evening here last Saturday. Our server Arthur was outstanding. He recommended a Bourbon that my husband loved in his Old Fashion and we also loved out Porter House steak that was grilled to perfection (the spice was a little too salty). The entire serving team was highly efficient and very friendly. Lastly, we could actually hear each other speaking despite the the full dining room!

Overall , a very good place to enjoy a meal. Food is very good especially special featured soup, however way too expensive compared to other classy bars and restaurants in the area. You can probably afford it for business invites and company gathering but not for your own family.

Deeelicious! My medium steak was tender and extra tasty. The asparagus and beets were cooked to perfection. Their pink lemonade cocktail was great, and so was their flourless chocolate cake. If I lived in Ottowa, Id definition be back.

Excellent food, exemplary service and a pleasant, upscale atmosphere. We were a party of six including my wife, who was celebrating her birthday. We were treated like VIPs even my father in law, who can be difficult to deal with. Dinner orders were mostly steak but also included salmon and a Caesar salad. Everyone at the table was very impressed with the food. There were several dessert choices, some with half positions available most welcome and my wife s was free! Not only that, she received a birthday card signed my the staff, enclosing a voucher for a free steak bites appetizer next visit. I recommend this restaurant most highly. Went here for dinner with family and friends. Was very impressed with the goat cheese sample we were given. Very flavorful. We orderd various meals and I personally ordered the Chop Burger. This is now my #1 Ottawa Burger. It is worth the price. Highly suggested restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Has a great kids menu with Free Ice Cream

Celebrated 36th wedding anniversary by ordering meals conveyed by a food delivery service. We contacted the restaurant when the meals were not delivered in a timely manner, only to discover that the food had been left on the doorstep without knocking or ringing the door bell. Tara, Senior Assistant, immediately offered to provide hot meals which she delivered in half an hour. We greatly appreciate the efforts made to recognize our anniversary and enjoyed our meals.

Love the atmosphere and services, but the food was meh... I had high hope for Prime ribs, which seemed to be the famous dish here. The prime rib was cooked perfectly tender and juicy, but the salad that came with it was not my taste. The mash potatoes were so-so. Crab cakes were so small and overcooked, but the salad dressing was fabulous. We went for lunch menu so the dishes didnt come with many sides. The price was average for this type of restaurant.

Best steak ever! A must try

We originally had a reservation for Bâton Rouge but their gas wasn t working so they were not able to cook anything. We went to Chops in hopes of getting a table for 4. This was around 4:45 pm Saturday. They were able to accommodate us, which is fantastic as we were stuck to find a place to go. I have to say the staff were AMAZING as well as our server. She was very witty and a joy to be around, she had told us that this was her second day. She was fantastic as we had a picky eater with us and she handled it very professionally. I was so impressed. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything we had with our meal including appetizers, drinks and deserts were AMAZING!!! I would definitely go back again. This is our favorite restaurant now. Far better than the Keg. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to people I know.

8 of us had an enjoyable meal and dinning experience yesterday there Food was over the top in flavour and well presented. The setting was elegant spacious comfortable and relaxing Washrooms were exceptionally clean and modern Donavan the server was very professional and first class doing his job Had a great sense of humour We drove 3 hours to dine there and would do it again I would HIGHLY recomend this restaurant

THIRD TIME- I went back like november ish- used the gift card they gave me and had dinner with my girlfriend. Didnt tell them we were coming and just dined low key. THIS TIME food was better, AND they explained that if you order the steak with bone it can be harder to temp and come out slightly less or more well done. All the food was good, but its also the most mid part of the experience. Its a nice place like I said before so Id say it looks nicer than it eats, and the service is TOP NOTCH, really nice servers each time and a GREAT manager. BUT you also go there to eat and you pay a lot, so its 3 stars final. Again JUST TO BE CLEAR, food is NOT BAD, just AVERAGE FOR THE PRICE. LOCATION IS NICE AND SERVICE IS VERY NICE. enjoy you steaks Back at CHOP today 24/08/23. soooo basically there was a problem with the steak AGAIN at lunch but then the manager just gave us the meal for free and asked us to come back again Beyond average steak restaurant. Ordered the nicest cut they had medium rare, steak came out rare. The bare minimum you have to do is be able to cook steak to temp. Other then that it s just very average- basic cuts, bland ambience, over priced everything- which you expect but the service is not there to make it a good value. Much better spots in the city, avoid wasting money here.

Wanted to make sure that the manager I spoke to, Emma & our server for the evening, Arthur, got the wonderful recognition they deserve. My husband and I dont get out often but when we do, we try to make sure we pick places with great food and great service and Chop hit the nail on the head in both departments. We went recently and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food, service and atmosphere. Everything was delectable and perfectly cooked, our server Arthur was friendly, kind and informative on all of the specials and offerings and provided very quick and efficient service. We came from out of town to eat at the Chop Steakhouse due to all its amazing reviews, we received the best service and steak ever - suggested by a top notch superstar server who s name is Donovan. We received the best service ever. All the staff are warm and welcoming, the place has a wonderful ambiance and the food is delicious! If I could give more than 5 stars I would because you guys definitely deserve it!

Great steakhouse with amazing service! All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. It was our first time dining there and we were not disappointed! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great date night location in Barrhaven. Everyone in our party had steak and they were all great but the cod definitely sounded delicious and will be back to try that next time around.

Tried it during business trip to Ottawa area. Nice place located inside Sandman hotel. We tried three appetizers, the best is definitely the Wild mushrooms and Goat cheese dip. Shrimps and steak bites are ok. The steak was good with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and Asparagus as sides. Tried the smoked ribeye topped with blue cheese

Went to Chop for the first time this week to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere is great, nice furnishings and volume level was great even though it was a busy night. Service was fantastic and the manager brought us a welcome appetizer on the house as it was our first time. Menu had a lot of great options to choose from and everyone in our party (5) enjoyed their meal. One steak was a tad overdone but this was rectified quickly and with no issues at all! The server (Amanda) and the manager were very friendly. They made our experience truly special by providing a birthday card (actually signed by wait staff) and a discount coupon for a future visit to the person we were celebrating. We enjoyed our time and will certainly be going back!

Great experience, great food, their steak was awesome and there was a small accident with our food and they did an excellent job resolving the situation. Dietary restrictions: Did a great job of ensuring our specific restrictions were followed. They did make a mistake on the first try but resolved the issue very nicely.

We were staying at the sandman hotel for the night and figured we would come to the restaurant for some drinks and food, our bartender was absolutely phenomenal sadly we didn t get her name but she made the most amazing drinks as well as conversation. We had some issues with are meal order and she made sure it was fixed right away for us. I highly recommend!

Great food and we got a table, no problem, at 7:45pm on a Saturday. Service started out nicely. It was our first time visiting and we got a nice little starter of bread and some spread. However, as the evening went on, our waitress became less and less attentive, barely offering us drinks unless we made eye contact. Our last set of drinks were made by the manager and brought over. Quite good, but hard to understand why the manager served us and didnt really say much. It was not a busy night and there were lots of staff. Service had the potential for more careful and considerate attention. We also asked for a dessert menu when we ordered our last drinks, and it never came...it took 15 mins to get the dessert menu. Overall, very nice restaurant and good food; wed go again. Just did not understand why the service was so mediocre.

My friends and I decided to try out this restaurant and we had a very disappointing experience. To start off, we received our wine glasses after the appetizers. Once we received our main courses, 2 out of 3 plates were incomplete (missing items). After they took the plates back, our server told us it was because the kitchen is busy. Like really, thats the argument youre going to use? When the plates came back, the steak for one of them was undercooked, so we had to return the plate once more. Once we started eating, we all noticed the vegetables were barely cooked and a large portion of someones steak was uncuttable (and therefore, could not be eaten). Additionally, the steak on one of the plates was very thin and of questionable appearance, considering it was supposed to be a 54$ ribeye. After telling our server about the uncuttable piece of meat, the server decided to actually check if what we were saying was true, so he took a knife and tried cutting it (unsuccessfully). This was borderline disrespectful. After this, our server brought dessert menus even though we had explicitly stated we did not want any. We changed our mind and when our server came to take the order, he took the first persons order, decided to go grab water for the table (because this could obviously not wait after he finished taking our order), to then finish taking our order. This was very odd. Finally our bills had mistakes and no discounts or gestures were offered, which was disappointing for a 300$ group meal.

Its was our first time at chops and we were blown away by the amazing service. We had two rib steak that was cooked to perfection and the drinks were great, my smoke old fashion was fantastic. Our server was one of the friendliest we ever had and loved what she does. Even asked what would be a unique experience around as we were visiting and she went around and asked her staff for different opinion. Very helpfull and beyond great service. Sadly i forgot her name but awsome at her job.

Went there with family. Food was good although our daughter s steak was not good, very poor cut. Unfortunately she only told us after we left. The most surprising and annoying thing was that our waitress was wearing too much perfume to the point it was nauseating. I say surprising because we thought everyone knows you don t wear perfume in a public place. She also wore heavy makeup and extra long fingernails first impressions were not good. We realize they want to wear makeup but what she was wearing was not appropriate for the position she holds.

Amazing food and prices

This has been the best steak I have had in Canada. The grill was perfect and the steak was juicy and tender. Blue cheese was a little to salty but that was my fault. Onion rings were amazing and the onion soup was excellent.

Hands down the BEST steakhouse experience we ve had in Ottawa. Our server Donovan was incredibly attentive from start to finish and didn t miss a single detail. His extensive knowledge of the menu and passion for excellent customer service made our anniversary meal extra special. To top it off the food was mouth watering and paired well with our wine choices!

I am very impressed by the manager s customer service. We went with a group of 10 people. I ordered a medium rare filet mignon steak but the steak was so well-done. After I told the issue to the waitress, the manager came to me to apologize, offered the replacement which was perfectly cooked. At the end of the meal, she even offered a gift certificate that I can use in my next visit. This is what all customer service should be. I will be back!

We normally have a wonderful time here, however, I believe that they are discouraging children from attending. They complained about my childs Ipad in a rude and condescending tone, however the other patrons were allowed to be loud and disruptive. We have normally spent quite a bit of money at this establishment, though in the future, I will take my business where my children are welcomed.

We ve visited this place last Friday. It was awful and disrespectful evening. I ve ordered truffle steak medium rare, it was overcooked like a boot and over-salted. My husband s steak was over-salted and overcooked as well. And when we said about it to waitress, no reaction from her! 45 dollars for one oversalted and overcooked steak! This restaurant deletes bad reviews! Be aware of this place

My fiancé took me here for my birthday supper. The food was excellent and our waitress, Larysa, provided excellent service. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, the specials, and was very attentive.

Wow what a terrible experience! Can t recall the servers name (think it started with an M) we sat in the lounge. She was uptight and standoffish. Strange as we were so nice and chill. Food was ok, atmosphere was nice, bartender looked like she was working her hardest but this lounge server truly killed the vibe for us. Not a pleasant experience.

Prime rib small and extremely fatty , French onion soup very plain and not very flavorful.

My wife and I decided to use our $40 gift card from our first time visiting Chop. That time, our dinner was luke warm and we usually dont complain, but decided to. The manager offered us the $40. This was last year sometime. Anyway, this time round, we werent impressed again. First off, we had to use our cellphones to read the menu as the lighting is poor at the tables. We noticed others doing the same. Our steaks were done to perfection and wine was great. I wanted to add the sautéed mushrooms but couldnt justify the extra $8. If they were $5, I definitely would have. Service was pretty good, although it got busy while we were there and no more service until we asked for the cheque. I think the restaurant is pretty good, just needs some tweaking in areas. Ex; lighting. Overall, it wasnt the worst restaurant weve been to, but when you spend good money dining out, you expect the experience to be awesome. My two cents. John Denomme

They are the best! I m a steak chef/enthusiast. Lunch menu: I tried the steak appetizer, amber in house lager, cold smoked rib eye and regular rib eye (both were amazing regular was my preference/ smoked was my colleagues preference), trio dessert. 12/10. Bringing back excellence in the restaurant business. Keeping up with the times. It s hard to find a restaurant that s better than what you could cook at home.

my family and I went to this stakehouse, everything was amazing including service and our surroundings were so nice, we went there for my moms birthday and they provided us with a nice choclate ice cream cake, I had the rib eye steak, it tasted so good

Good place for family events, just wish they had more vegan options

Made a reservation tonight for 6pm and then needed to bump it up to 5:20 and no issues, it was our first time and they brought out some goat cheese dip thing with bread which the wife said was good. Larissa was great and so was all the staff and service. However thats where it stops, had the 10oz sirloin and was not seasoned and extremely underwhelming. The cheesecake was ok but not great. I feel our $130+ bill was for the service as I would never expect to pay that for the lackluster food experience. We were hyped to try this place out but very disappointed.

Great food and exceptional service. Mother in law immensely enjoyed her filet. Shared a ribeye that was cooked to perfection. Cassandra, the Manager stopped by our table and showed her hospitality ensuring that our meal was 100% to our liking. Our server Cameron could not have provided any better service. The GM also stopped by with a warm smile and impeccable manners. The only thing missing was bread in our minds but given that we really didnt need it was fine.

We SO appreciated our anniversary dinner at Chop Steakhouse &Bar in Ottawa this past week. To celebrate our 50th anniversary, we are doing 50 fun things. Dining at chop was fun thing #24! We were treated like royalty right from the moment we stepped through the door. The front end staff were genuine with their warm welcome. Our servers brought a level of excellence that we will never forget. We were treated like royalty! I will never forget the presentation of our dessert..with the personal words of 24 of 50 to highlight our occasion. The food was excellent and the service was beyond our expectations. We will be back the next time we are in Ottawa!

They ve changed the menu since I was there 3 weeks ago. The filet is now cooked sous vide. Steak was cooked med rare and was tender but was dry. I get this decision comes from head office. Atmosphere and service was great.

I went for lunch, had the hot chicken sandwich, and almost ordered a second; it was so good.

Our first time at Chop. The food was delicious! The service however was poor to mediocre. Our waiter suggested to take my husband s order first (to which my husband insisted he take mine first). Simple etiquette and waitering 101. Attention to my husband (when our waiter actually showed up at our table) and ignoring me continued throughout our dinner. Kudos to the kitchen staff for a delicious meal. A waiter can make or break a dinner experience and, unfortunately, we experienced the latter this evening. We had heard some good things about Chop so we thought we would give it a try. Based on our experience tonight we would not go back, nor would we suggest Chop to others.

Big shout out to Taylor for serving us and making the night super special as we were celebrating a special day! She went above and beyond for our evening and I wanted to take this minute and say that CHOPS has an overall great experience thanks to staff like Taylor!

Experienced Chop for the first time last night. Honestly I was very impressed. Walked in and was able to be seated at the bar side right away. We ordered the steak, salmon and a few appetizers which all arrived warm and prompt. Thank you to Mac for the excellent customer service and knowledgable menu options. Would definitely recommend for those looking for a high end dining experience or date.

Premium food with a premium price. Everything was fabulous. Impressed my wife by bringing her here for our 30th anniversary. Definitely have been telling all my friends about it.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of having my first meal at Chop. I had the smoked rib steak. It was absolutely amazing, one of, if not the best steak I have ever had, and I was there for my 61 birthday. I was served by Nigel, he was fantastic, very friendly, good sense of humour and very knowledgeable. I received a complimentary dessert, also fantastic, and then as I was leaving Nigel presented me with a Birthday card, signed by himself and other staff members. The card also contained a voucher for a free menu item on my next visit. They really know how to make a person feel special. Highly recommend this steakhouse.

Wanted to love this place but it disappointed, sadly. Asked for medium rare steak and it came almost well done (both mine and my husbands). The smoked ribeye was less flavourful than the regular ribeye. Mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. Crab cakes were the best part as well as the pineapple cake. Crème brûlée could use some work but it was edible. Will definitely not return here. If you want a great steak, go somewhere else. This ain t the place.

Had supper with a colleague at Chop last week. Food was good with generous portions and the restaurant looked nice and clean. Our waiter was awesome and made a good experience great!
