Its such a beautiful restaurant. Ive been there a few times. There, Seared Saku Tuna is unbelievable, so good. The shrimp cocktail is always good. Had brunch on a sunday. Their menu is very appealing. I highly recommend going here.

I have gone to this locations several times, atleast 6 times a year, with or with out reservation over the years, dealing with Niel and other staff is great. I enjoy there Wagyu steak and Wagyu platters. Best Spot in ottawa for Wagyu steaks and platters hands down. Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I recently held our wedding reception at Luxe, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Laila and her team were a joy to work with before, during and after the event, and our guests were raving about the food and service. We couldn t recommend Luxe Bistro enough for weddings or events.

My partner and I hosted our wedding reception at Luxe Bistro in September 2024. The venue was absolutely perfect for the occasion and Id highly recommend Luxe for anyone looking to host an event. We had about 65 people total. The space itself is excellent. Wed booked out the entire building (upstairs for cocktail hour & dancing, downstairs for dinner and speeches) and it was a good amount of space. Part of what drew us to Luxe was the decor and vibe of the place, its already beautiful and we didnt need to worry much about decorating. We mostly just leant on the decor that was already there. The staff were also a joy to work with. We worked with Laila throughout the planning process and she took quite a lot off our plate. It was nice having her being our event coordinator for the reception, letting us focus more on the ceremony. She helped us sort out dinner menus, wine selection, room layout, and more. The waitstaff on the day of were also lovely, they were really really sweet and did everything they could to make our day special. And the food is so far above usual wedding fare. Several people came up to us later and told us the steaks were the best theyve ever had. The entire meal was delicious and was priced reasonably. Wed highly recommend Luxe for any sort of event, we had an amazing experience and cant wait to be back!

All the staff were impeccable and super nice. The food was all delicious. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, and the veggies were flavourful. My mom got the veggie burger and she said it was great. The crime brûlée and the flourless chocolate cake are amazing. We went to Luxe for dinner Saturday, October 12th for dinner and I cant remember our servers name but he was excellent! We had been wanting to try this place for awhile and we were not disappointed. The beef tartare was THE BEST we ever had, the steaks were cooked perfectly, and we ended up trying all their desserts - 10/10. I highly recommend Luxe Bistro and we will be returning.

We had oysters and two were questionable and we sent them back. The crab cakes were mostly potato and excessively oily.

I hosted my friend s 40th birthday at Luxe Bistro, and it was amazing. The sophisticated yet inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for the celebration. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the wine selection was excellent. A big thank you to Laila, who was incredibly helpful and ensured everything went smoothly. Luxe Bistro is the ideal spot for a special occasion or a great night out in the ByWard Market. Highly recommend!

One of the best steak houses in Ottawa. Always incredibly delicious. I especially recommend the filet mignon. Very attentive staff and reasonable prices. Cozy.

Very good place youre looking for a nice dinner on the fancier side in the Byward Market. The tuna main dish was excellent & the roast chicken my dining partner wasnt bad. The homemade butter that was served with the bread before the meal was impressive. Service wasnt bad but could be better.

The wine list was good with several Canadian wines available. The Caesar salad was okay but light on dressing. The burger was not great. It wasn t warm at all. I would have sent it back but I knew they d just nuke it.

We went to this restaurant to drink a couple of cocktails and eat some oysters. There were very few people. We were immediately seated at the table and we hoped that we would be served soon. It wasnt there. We waited and waited. In the end, we got bored and left disappointed.

Food was delicious. That chicken was cooked so perfectly and juicy that I dont remember the last time I had chicken like that at a restaurant. There was always servers stopping by if we needed anything. Sat outside and except the annoying cars it is nice.

The experience I had at Luxe Bistro was very professional. The staff and owner were attentive and hospitable. Niel Gowe, the owner of this establishment, was very accommodating in providing his time and resources to make sure myself and others were enjoying our visit this fine Thursday evening. I decided to taste the authentic Japanese Wagyu offered on the menu here with my friends, and the taste of this specialized steak was indeed far greater than five stars if Im able to put a higher food grade. Love the location of this place very close to everything, it is not cheap but they have great choices of wines, we had in the past the squid, delicious.... Just beware of some hostesses that dont like it if you change tables, I guess it is their tables and they are not happy if you move, what can I do, we got more people and needed the bigger table

Nice place, good vibes, and so great and friendly staff ( love the staff ) Regarding the food; i did order steak frites and L burger and it was an average taste to be honest, so nothing special about the food. This is a good place with great staff, but more care is needed for your food guys.

I have lived in Ottawa for over 25 years and have walked past Luxe countless times. Today we ended up here for lunch - for my Mummas birthday. Hospitality today is not what is was sadly. I am often left dissapointed - not having had an actual dining experience. The Luxe exceded expectations! Isabelle, the lovely hostess and the engagement of the hands on owner ... is like walking into how restaurants used to be. Incredible food (wow - the prawns!), lovely atmosphere, attentive service ... and excellent wine. Very grateful for making a wonderful birthday memory for us... We will be back!

Im a little late to write a review as i dined here back in March, but just wanted to shout out the attentive staff here. We came for an early in the day birthday dinner without any reservations and we were helped by two waiters - one being trained by the other. They asked if we were celebrating anything, and when we told them it was for a birthday, they comped us a dessert with birthday wishes written neatly on the plate. Food was awesome and the service matched!

The cheese plate was very unimaginative. 25$ to be served grocery store cheddar and brie seems a little steep. The constant interruptions by the staff were also unnecessary.

Sometimes, you catch a business on a bad day or at a bad time. Hopefully, Ill return to the Luxe again so they can make a better first impression on me and my party. Parking: Lots of garages around. If youre going to the neighborhood after regular hours,...about 6 pm, the garages are reduced price and the street parking is free.

We had an amazing experience last night! I was a little nervous to go out with my 3 month old baby but the owner accommodated us to make us comfortable which was extremely appreciated. The food was amazing as well. Couldn t have asked for a better experience!

I have driven past this place since I was a kid, and finally went in. I can see why it has been around for so long food, service and atmosphere were great. If I go again, I would go more dressed up. You could definitely dress up when you go here! We had a nice time. The Aperol Spritz was on special for $9, which drew me in. I also ordered the chicken burger with salad. The table bread (baguette?) and the sandwich bread (ciabatta) were both excellent! I almost asked if it was freshly made in-house. The salad dressing was added generously, I would recommend ordering on the side. I mentioned this to the man who cleared our plates and he was very nice about it. Very well run! They also had water on the table, with a lady topping it up, which you don t normally see anymore. It was a nice touch.

The oyster was nice, I had salmon for main course with mashed potato but got fries instead, I mentioned but told them it is okay, no need to change, but after 2 minutes they brought me mashed potato separately. I was impressed with the service and customer service.

Came here for dinner and drinks with the office. I had the steak frittes. Really good fries with the garlic and Parmesan sprinkled on top. Steak was cooked as ordered. I removed 1 star for service as the server was really slow with drinks. Not sure if that was the server or the bar. Great place though.

So delicious! hostess not nice but the person who attends our table was so sweet and attentive Dietary restrictions: They had gluten feee options on bread and buns

On the receipt, the server covertly charged me 4.00$ extra for the coffee that I initially believed came with the brunch. Needless to say she was dishonest in doing so. It is customary for most restaurants not to charge for coffee on top of the meals price or to at least to tell the customer in advance that they will be charged for it.

Can t even begin to describe how great the meal was. The grilled chicken burger was out of this world and the waiter was extremely conscious of my gluten-free dietary restrictions. Fantastic service and spectacular food.

Me and my husband came in for a Saturday lunch/brunch, having heard very good things about the bistro from some of his co-workers. Unfortunately we will not be back. When we sat I received a dirty fork, which normally I wouldnt mind too much, mistakes happen, I asked for a new one and the waitress was very apologetic about it. We ordered the beef tartare to start, and it was excellent, would highly recommend if you do decide to stop by. It came out quickly and was very good. However, we ordered our mains at the same time as our beef tartare, which took forever to come out. Around 35 minutes. Which normally, would understand if the place was busy, but there were maybe 10 people sat, including us, at the time. We watched a table be sat, order, eat, pay, and leave, before we got our mains. My husband got the mushroom toast, which he said was spectacular. However his side salad had rotten lettuce. We informed the server and she took the salad, and told us she would bring out a new one. The second one arrived and it also had rotten lettuce. At that point we just paid and left. The server informed the manager(?) of the problem as we were leaving. I ordered the brunch burger and it was pretty good. I wouldnt order it again if I were to return, but it wasnt bad. I just wasnt a fan of the tomato jam on it, but thats a personal taste issue and not on the restaurant. Our server (unfortunately I didnt catch her name), was very nice, but the who I assume was the manager was very present in the dining room, and never stopped at our table despite the several issues, including rotten food being served to a guest. Sadly we wont be going back due to the poor first experiance.

Third meal at Lux as I try to give multiple visits before I review. Atmosphere is amazing which is why I keep giving them a second /third chance. Waitress brought milk instead of cream (after asking me which I prefer). Didn t ask how I wanted my eggs. They were very over done but the most disturbing of the meal was sticky salt and pepper shakers . Yuk. Also brought the wrong side order of egg and was under done after first bringing the wrong egg prep. Disaster meal but is what it is. Cheers!

Was told by locals this was an excellent restaurant, comparable to much on the West Coast. it wasnt. The steak was ok, had better at a Keg. However the beavertails being sold near the market were delish.

Mid. Brought my family for brunch as my Mum had shown interest in visiting and was overall disappointed. The name Luxe suggests an above average experience and I can say that it was average, at best. The decor and ambiance are great but the menu, portions and quality left something to be desired. My partner s sausage had grill marks but was cold, my Mum s fruit salad was 3 pieces of the thinnest cut pineapple and melon (Like probably 3cm thick). When I think Luxe I don t imagine mandolin-thin sliced fruit and cold meat. Members of the family can t eat pork and this was unable to be accommodated without significant up charge . Curious, as brunch at most places can accommodate with turkey bacon, chicken or vegetarian options. Got the vibe that everything was sitting in the fridge/freezer prepped and there was no room for deviations, which is common/fine, but I think the name Luxe hampers their ability to operate like any other restaurant. It was decent enough to eat, but at this price point there are many better options. Dietary restrictions: Brunch, no non-pork protein options without significant upcharge

Vegetarian options: I noticed several vegetarian options on the menu Kid-friendliness: Not a place I would recommend for younger guests, a bit upscale for large families Wheelchair accessibility: Steps at the front entrance restrict wheelchair accessibility.

We went for late lunch on Victoria day. Took few minutes at the door before the greeter showed up. Was really hot so we chose the indoor Dining area which is nicely setup. The bbq chicken sandwiches were good portion and tasty. The frites were very good. Burgers are good too. Kid slides are reasonable portion for hungry 4 year-5year old but not for older. Little on the dry side but served with good portion frites. We probably come again when we return to Ottawa for a visit.

Great location, but lacking on food. I had the brunch burger and my bun was so soggy and it was like a fast food restaurant bun, so I really didn t enjoy that. My burger came with a HUGE serving of hash browns. My order was lost or forgotten, although I wasn t in a rush so I didn t really care. The server realized I had been waiting a long time and fixed it.

Beats the Keg hands down. Delicious filet minon. Wedge salad was great as well. Service is on point. Its what you would expect from a high-end steak house. The Pinot Grigio was also of good quality.

I have been to Luxe Bistro about 7-9 times now. I have yet to have anything but excellent food and service. I am consistently overwhelmed with how much I love coming here. The servers clearly love working there and the food is top notch. The oysters are among my favourite - always fresh with delicious garnishes. Their steaks are also top tier. Highly recommend- I live just around the corner and love making a habit of coming here and enjoying my dine.

steve is the greatest server ever. he was so charismatic and knowledgeable about the menu and even suggested the dumpling place a few doors down. he was lovely. their L burger is so yum. and their fries. and their ceasar salad.

Mehhhh, not great. Didnt feel like their food was very fresh, mostly tasted frozen. Its just an ok place, you can get way better food for your buck elsewhere... The service was good though. But the food is cheap quality and average, not a chefs menu.

I think this place has some decent food, but definitely not worth the price it was, and maybe my expectations were elevated by how expensive it was on the menu. The lamb was 41 dollars, but pretty dry and tasteless, with minimal seasoning and some saucy mashed potatoes underneath. The desserts werent too bad, but flavoring and texture couldve been more well balanced. Our server was very nice

The tune crudo is incredible. The happy hour menu unfortunately the food not impressed just because i dont eat anything from that menu. The Ceasar salad could be there.

I came here for a business lunch and dinner. The atmosphere and service were great. The appetizers were delicious, though not convinced the carrot twist on hummus is really necessary. Asparagus side was one of the best Ive ordered anywhere. The Filet Mignon tasted a lot better than it looks, as it was cooked to perfection. The tuna is really great too. Overall, a great experience.

Wow. Just wow. From the moment we walked in I was super impressed with the atmosphere and when the hostess greeted and seated us it was with professionalism and we immediately knew we were in a fine dining restaurant. There was a surprise though, read on. We were quickly seated in a perfect wide 2 person booth which is super comfy and more than wide enough to cut into a steak and not worry about elbowing someone walking by. Calming lights of all types, great art and literally one of the best ambiances Ive experienced in a restaurant let alone one with such a great price point. the food was delicious and fresh.

As you can see with the many positive reviews the food and service is excellent. I am leaving this 5 star review for another reason. During our last visit an unfortunate accident happened and a piece of my wife s clothing was damaged (no they did NOT spill anything on her). Management stepped up to plate and replaced the garment no questions asked. I highly recommend this restaurant not only because of the great food, service and friendly staff but also because honesty and professionalism are hard to come by these days and these kinds of businesses need to be supported. Thanks again Neil and we will be back.

Visited this place for a regular dinner with no expectations and enjoyed it a lot: Steak was soft, tender and juicy, perfectly grilled, accompanied with baked potato and veggies 8/10 Beef bourguignon - first time I see it served with papardelle - interesting mix of French and Italian cuisines I expected more sauce however 8/10 For dessert we were suggested cheese cake - and it was remarkable in-house freshly made,with crunchy bottom layer, moderately sweet tender main level, topped with crunchy graham crackers - delicious! Not mentioning it was beautifully served Must say it was a bit heavy for me, but for two persons we enjoyed it! 8/10 Service is friendly and professional. Recommended

Food and service wasnt the problem. The problem was that we spotted cockroaches. We saw two baby cockroaches running across our table and when we took our phone flashlight to look underneath our table, we spotted more :/ We immediately let the staff know and showed it to them. They handled it very well and professionally. We hope Luxe takes the time and proper care to solve the problem and not ignore it and continue to serve people food in that environment. Overall, the food was good and the service was stellar but unfortunately they were having a pest infestation at the time that needs to be taken care of immediately.

Really enjoyed the patio and the food was tasty and plenty. A busker was very entertaining across the patio to add to our experience.

First visited in 2018 and it was great. Visited again in 2023 and menu has changed quite a bit and service was on the slow side. Feels overpriced now tbh.

Had a business lunch and was very impressed! Excellent service, ambiance and the best burger Ive ever had in Ottawa- the Black and Blue burger. The ingredients were fresh and it was bursting with flavor. Highly recommend the restaurant.

Came here for happy hour and we got some cocktails and sirloin sliders. The martinis and cosmos were perfect after a busy week of work and the sirloin sliders hit the snacky spot! Would definitely come back again.

Lunch was fabulous. After visiting the Agricultural Museum of Canada we were so desperate for seafood. We ordered Oysters, Grilled Salmon, Mussels, Fried Squid. Everything tasted wonderful. The restaurant was fully packed with people!!! Our order came little bit late but understandable given so many customers walking in. You can guess why they were so many people at lunch although Dishes were not on the cheap side. Great place to dine in.

Came here on a Saturday for some brunch, we sat in the patio which was nice because the weather was nice. We ordered drinks to start, unfortunately the waitress spilled one of the drinks on the table all over my phone and shoes. Wasnt too happy about it, because it seemed like she didnt know how to properly hold the drink tray, maybe for next time it would be nice if she put the tray on the table before handling our drinks. Other then that the food was good, Ive been here before for lunch and Ive loved the lunch menu. Its a nice restaurant, the staff is nice and its location is perfect right at the middle of the byward market, definitely a must try during summer time

Service is excellent! Thanks to Porsa (I dont know if I heard and spelled his name right), but he managed to get us a table outside in a corner despite the influx of people during Canada day. Food is great. U must try the crispy duck.

Ill be honest, I only came here because I wanted a quiet dinner. I did indeed get that. What I didnt expect was bland food and snobby waiting staff. The steak I ordered was severely overcooked, and my spouses meal was tastless, to say the least. My group of foodies have been talking about how this place has fallen off since covid, but I havent seen it for myself until now. Also this place needs a reality check on its prices.

Very nice establishment, we were very well received even though we did not have a reservation The service was fast and professional for the young man who served us. The burgers L Burger at 23 dollars are excellent and well presented with fries and garlic mayo. As drinks, spritzes and two ice teas which according to my boys were very good. In short, well placed in Ottawa, I recommend.

This is a wonderful restaurant. We were walk-ins and had no reservation, but the gal at the door was wonderful and seated us. The food was amazing. I had the steak frites and the steak was amazing. My hubby had the ribeye and twice baked potato and loved it. For dessert we split a creme brulee and some raspberry gelato, and both were delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and inviting. Our waitress was wonderful and it was a great night. We will visit again when we are in Ottawa again.

Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly and good service. Menu with good variety. We ordered a cosmopolitan for CA$10, which was very well prepared. The tuna crudo was great, well seasoned. The steak frites are very good, very tender meat and very thinly cut fries. The extra serving of asparagus is worth it.

Me and my girlfriend went here tonight I had the lamb shank it was outstanding the lamb was cooked perfectly and fell off the bone the creamy mash was seasoned well and paired perfectly with the lamb.The pickled carrots brought the whole dish together. The presentation was a 10/10 and the taste was outstanding. If you like lamb I could not recommend the meal any higher. But what really made the experience so outstanding was the service. The service was so outstanding I had to ask the waiter for his name specifically so I could write a review for the first time. James if you see this thanks for the above and beyond service. To finish the meal off I had the crème brûlée and it was exactly what you d want from the dish a thick sweet crust and perfect consistency with the crème fresh

Visiting Ottawa for the first time and found this nice place to have brunch. I ordered its salmon egg benedicts, tasted so good. The atmosphere is nice if you pick a table in the patio. The waiter is helpful too. The price is not cheap but value for money. Would be nicer if the coffee comes with a cookie though.

Burger is delicious as were the fries. Ate at their beautiful patio in Byward Market.

One of the best filet mignon I have had

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our experience at Luxe. The steak was top notch quality and taste. However, the sides left something to be desired the mashed potatoes were not silky, they tasted like they were from a tv dinner. The drinks were fabulous and trendy. Caesar salad did not have croutons but was tasty and different. The bread was great but you have to ask for it several times, we found that was not great. The cheesecake was OK. We would go back just for the filet mignon!

Great atmosphere and food is delicious

Luxe Bistro is our go-to restaurant in Ottawa. It is licated in the heart of the Byward Market. The ambiance is high-end. There is a great patio in the summertime, if the wasps dont spoil it. The food is consistently excellent.

It s one of my favourite spots in the city and have been coming here for many years. We had the French cocktail, Caesar salad, and seafood appetizers. I found the $27 for seafood appetizer overpriced for what we got. Small. The display of it was not fabulous. It tasted okay. Cocktails and fresh warm baguette and whipped butter were delish. Salad very fresh. Just the seafood was not what I m used to having at Luxe. Server was wonderful. I ll return for sure but I will order something else.

We were only there for one or two drinks. In fact, we also found a Kölsch variant that actually tasted good. But local wines were also offered there and were excellent.

Everything was great and food was amazing, the service was somehow slow though I guess for our table coz it was more faster for others, we were told the delay because we ordered appetizers! Which I didnt find convincing but overall I had great time.

We have been to Luxe many times over the last several years and it never disappoints! Great food and atmosphere! We are usually here for brunch on the weekends and highly recommend!

We had the Le Burger on Saturday afternoon and the meat was so salty and not cooked evenly. I have also never had pre salted fries before - SO MUCH SALT. Really disappointed. We chose Luxe from a wide range of choices in the byward market and were expecting a much better experience.This place used to be better.

Came here with a Bachelor party and they gave us a nice private area upstairs. Awesome food and great service, would highly recommend.

Very good restaurant. Had Humus appetizer excellent. Ceasa Salad very good. Filet Mignon and NY Strip cooked perfectly served with mash potatoes and roasted vegetables. Everything was very good. Washed down with craft beers ahead of the meals and an excellent Cabernet with the entrees. Finished with Gelato and coffees. Highly recommend Luxe.

Visiting Ottawa with my daughter and popped in for spontaneous dinner. Ambience is lovely. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Ordered the goat cheese appy to share and it did not disappoint. Generous serving. Followed by duck leg and beef tartar. Duck leg with excellent fixings was incredible. Beef tartar was sadly lacking - bland, no egg yolk, and came with chips! What no French fries??!! Would never happen at a French bistro in France! Luxe can do better there. Would definitely recommend, just don t have the steak tartar!

A friend of mine had visitors from Kitchener in town over the weekend, after exploring the Byward Market I suggested dinner at Luxe. Our server was very attentive, the ambiance was perfect and everyone was very happy with the choice. Flavours in every dish were delicious and the Wine menu has a pairing for every food item in the restaurant! Highly recommend dining here

Greats oysters

Balanced menu, correct pricing, precision execution, truly remarkable demi glace. Even the bread is exceptional. If you are only looking for food you can not go wrong but the staff makes it that much more. We had a special event and everything was clockwork plus the staff went beyond anything that could be expected in assisting some guests with special needs. All quickly, quietly and respectfully. This is not just the kind of restaurant where you want to eat, it is the kind of people you want to eat with.

I gave les stars for atmosphere only because I would like to see the private washrooms updated. They were not horrible or unclean by any stretch, just need a refresh and could be warmer.

The service was immaculate. The steak was one of the best in the country. The dipping sauces, especially the chimichurri, were delicious. We loved the ambiance. The servers were polite and adequately interactive. The whole experience made it worth traveling to Ottawa. Well done, Luxe Bistro!

Was wondering the market looking for something to eat and luxe did not miss! Steak was honestly one of the best I ve ever had and our server sauce recommendation was on point will definitely be back

Dinner from Spring 2023

Luxe Bistro offers excellent steak options with their Bone-in Ribeye being a standout. The steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, a real treat for meat lovers. However, the service here needs improvement. Our meal felt rushed and the wait staff seemed more focused on speed than quality service. The atmosphere was also a downside, with harsh lighting and too-close seating. The noise level was higher than ideal, making conversation difficult. Despite the incredible food, the service and environment definitely need some attention.
