One thing I love about this place is how the music is audible from the street, brings me in every time. Lovely sushi, great prices.

So I came in with a friend for dinner, The price really does not reflect food quality, the portions were so small as if trying to resemble itself as a fine dining restaurant. The service was subpar, inexperienced (didn t know the menu), unable to answer questions and above all with being the only people in the restaurant it still took a pretty long time for the order to come to the table. I normally do not write reviews but had to after the conversation i had with them over the phone that showed me that they really do not care. Super surprised consider it s a 4 star restaurant, i m sure a lot of them must be bots cause ive seen other reviews say this exact thing. Save yourself some time and go to literally any other sushi restaurant, cause this is the worst one i ve had in a long time.

The chef was very polite. Good price for the Sushi and they were pretty good. Plenty of wasabi and ginger.

Worst meal yet and the service was no better. Edamame was tasteless even the salt did not help. The miso soup was horrible and all you could taste with fish, we did not eat that either. The chef special they would not tell us what it was because they want their clients to experiment. I can understand why, there was no rhyme or reason for what they pair together except it was all bad. I ate the salmon (tasted a bit off) and one of, what I can only say was cucumber wrapped in rice and that was enough. I was not well for the rest of the day feeling very sick. If I could give this a zero out of 5 I would. I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant even if the food was free. If you want excellent sushi go to Hanabi on 434 Bank Street and it is always packed until this spot.

Fresh and delicious sushi. Fast service.

Shrimp tempura was awesome and comes with sliced mango wrapped in smoked salmon. Dynamite Futomaki (5 pcs) and Rainbow Futomaki (5 pcs) were both excellent. Totally recommend foodwise! Was VERY hot and humid inside though. Service could be faster but was very pleasant.

We tried many in the Gatineau/Ottawa area and we now always order our sushis from them. Alway fresh and delicious. The diner chef combos offer a nice variety.

Must shout out Orchid Sushi (on laurie w.). Used to go there a lot when I worked downtown. Missed it and went back tonight. Honestly the BEST sushi ever. Anywhere. Simply amazing! They were swamped and the order took a longer than Id hoped but it was worth the wait. As far as sushi goes its within the price point youd expect. But the ingredients are outstanding and unique and its all so fresh and delicious. Again best sushi. Give them a go - you wont regret it.

I would never recommend this restaurant. The portions are quite small compared to the price. As a big fan of sashimi, I found the quality here subpar, whether due to the ingredients or the chef s skill it simply does not compare to what I ve enjoyed at other sushi restaurants. Additionally, the service was very poor; the staff seemed unsure of how to properly attend to customers. Overall, a disappointing experience.

The sushi was good. Dynamite roll, Sake nigiri and avocado maki was very nice. Miso was different but tasty. They were missing some of our favourites including any grilled chicken or steak options. No tuna tataki. Price is moderate.

Service was quick and courteous although its kind of tough to give an honest rating because it was a quick transaction. Food arrived quickly and it was absolutely delicious. Nice little sushi restaurant it was well worth the money.

Had a disappointing time here my first time eating takeout, 11$ for a single signature spring roll cut into 4 that wasn t very good. Went in person a few times and had a pleasant experience. Bit on the expensive side for the quality you get. Food

The best sushi I have eaten we took 30 pieces chefs choice, very good, But the dragon eyes, altlantis and red orchid rolls were sublime!!! Washed down with a wow green tea.

Maybe I got the wrong items but my first impression was bad. Everything was extremely bland. The tempura was not made with the usual panko with light crispy texture, but with a hard breadcrumb that was unseasoned and hurt my mouth cus it was so hard. I got a dragon roll which I get all the time everywhere and this was legit the worst one Ive ever had. The owners were Vietnamese and I was eager to support them because Im also Viet, but the food was terrible and expensive. Dont see how they have high reviews.

The food here is quite good, especially the tempura. The tempura is very crispy and not too greasy. The prices are quite reasonable, the service is quick, and the place is clean. Ill be returning for sure Vegetarian options: There are clearly labeled vegetarian options: vegetarian miso soup, vegetable tempura, vegetarian salad roll, veg futomaki, and the tofu roll are all very tasty.

The tuna poke was amazing and filling, so many different yummy things in there. Tataki salad was good and flavourful. Miso soup was nice, had a lot of tofu and little mushrooms. We had the spider and spicy salmon rolls they were good. Overall I would say the food is pretty good here but giving 3 stars for the value for money and service. Only bad thing was the menus were filthy.

Probably the best sushi I ve had so far! I was a bit skeptical dining in, as there was only one other couple - but I was craving sushi. I took my chance and I am so grateful for it! The sushi is so fresh, and every roll has its own distinct flavour. I would pick this place over all-you-can-eat any day!!

I am always impressed with the quality of the food at Orchid Sushi but the chefs combo dinners are amazing. My 4 year old loves sushi and they make it just perfect for us to have a dinner sushi date. We really love this place!

Second time we dine in here. First time was the best sushi ever. Second time was ever better. Everything was soooo fresh. We had the tastiest and crispiest shrimp tempura ever. I seriously recommend dining in. We tried take out once and it wasnt even comparable.

Great place to either take-out or dine in for students or just people on a budget to get their moneys worth on some really good sushi and sashimi! The owner and staff are very respectful and down to earth.

Wouldnt even know about the food, went to go have dinner, and discovered its apparently a dog friendly restaurant... Not interested in eating somewhere that allows dogs to run around the restaurant, wow, seriously mind blown.

I can onky speak to the poke bowls they are fresh and full of veggies. I definitely want to try the sushi here !

Horrible experience with delivery. Sushi was dry/stale and tempura was totally cold by the time our order finally came more than TWO HOURS after the specified delivery time. But even more atrocious was the customer service. Called three times to ask what was happening with my order and they refused to give me any concrete information, just kept saying it s coming without even asking for my name or any identifying info, even straight up hung up on me when I asked if they could call the driver to see how much longer it would be. Completely reasonable request if your order is 2 hrs behind. If you have to order from them make sure you do it through Uber and not their website as there is no way to see the progress of the order. The driver is legit the only person with any customer service skills. Word of advice to the owner: the way you treat your customers affects how they perceive your food. If you re behind, that s fine, just apologize and be honest. If you can t guarantee delivery times don t even have that as an option, it s not fair to the customer. I would ve understood and offered to pick up myself if that was the hold up. It felt bad to be dismissed when I was only asking for an update, and in turn everything tasted awful to me.

My go to sushi place

This is a filthy place. We left after getting our waters as we noticed more and more how dirty everything is in the restaurant. There were multiple uncleared tables. The floor was sticky and just filthy, so was the large mirror. The fan has a huge amount of dust on it. No AC. The menus are sticky and dirty. When we came in, we waited for 2-3 minutes with multiple employees looking at us without giving us clear directions. Made us feel uneasy already. People come into this place just to use the washroom. Very weird that this is tolerated. Granted, we didn t actually eat here, but I wouldn t risk it given how filthy the front of house looked.

Overall good food, fresh fish, neat display, and good quality sushi. However horrendous customer service, and miserable accountability. Ordered three things didn t get two of them. Took 30 minutes to get the rest of my meal (which were the appetizers). Would recommend if you re going with a friend.

Cannot comment on food because we walked out before risking it, thus, 2 stars. Honestly, this place is outspokenly filthy: the fan was dusty, the floor was sticky, the menu and the table were greasy and the air super stuffy, there was no AC. It seemed like the place was overstaffed, however, we had to wait 3 awkward minutes to be noticed and eventually seated. Prices were fairly high Happy that we left, given the fact that this place severs raw fish.

So disappointed considering all the positive reviews. I ordered the dinner plate, meaning i had no choice which rolls i was served but half of my plate was just cucumber roll o4 Avocado roll- both of almost no value. The maki roll i was served had cream cheese and tomato and was terrible- having no choice i at least expected a traditional roll. The nigiri didnt even taste fresh, niether did the rolls. There werent a lot of people in the restaurant but it took over 20 min for me to get my small order. Would not recommend.

We re originally from Vancouver and have been unhappy with sushi ever since we arrived in 2016. This place is Awesome!!

We loved the sushi here. It was absolutely delicious and really cool combinations. The restaurant itself is not super smart or beautiful but the food is awesome and the staff were very nice! Would love to eat here again and would recommend it to any friends visiting Ottawa. Dietary restrictions: I have a shellfish allergy which wont kill me but isnt pleasant and they were very careful to serve me only sushi without prawns etc. They took it very seriously!

Server was wonderful. Beautiful food. Really enjoyed the Paradise roll.

Lots of veggies in the poke bowl. Tastes good but the fried chicken is over cooked, very dry and hard to bite. Won t recommend it for people who are wearing Invisalign like me.

Overcharged me by $10 for two mediocre rolls and wouldn t even give me an itemized receipt when I asked. Won t be returning.

Been ordering takeout from this place for years and YUM. You can t go wrong with the Blueberry and Orchid rolls. My favourite spot for sushi in Ottawa. We almost always order for takeout so I can t speak too much about the atmosphere - we were there recently for dinner and it is not licensed to sell alcohol, so I think we ll stick to takeout! It keeps SUPER well for sushi (usually hard to keep fresh).

Best tasting in area!!!

Everything was great about this place for the four of us that went on a Tuesday evening. The service was nice and the food came in a decent amount of time. The price was okay considering the quality of our food and we overall had a great experience dining outside at this restaurant. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi!

Extremely slow to serve. Terrible attitude.

We ordered $220 worth of takeout and it wasn t enough to feed 5 people. The tempura was over cooked in obviously old oil judging from the dark colour of it. The spring roll order was two small rolls cut into four pieces. The rolls were not made as described in the menu. We ordered online for a 5:15 pickup. The order was not ready. They forgot to put wasabi and ginger in the bag. The most disappointing sushi experience I have ever had. I have never done a negative review but feel others should be warned.

I ordered take out so I can only speak to the food, and omg, what good food!! It was so tasty and filling, and I m very happy with how fresh everything was. The staff was nice when I picked it up too, and it looked like a charming place, so it s probably worth sitting down too.

We ve been ordering from this place for a couple times now and we can t even order anywhere else now. The sushis are just so fresh and delicious, and beautiful. The attention to details is insane. Love the service too ! Best place in the region by far.

Honestly, probably one of the best take put spots in downtown, the quality and amount of fish is fantastic. So fresh but you get what you pay for. Expect to pay 200$ for a nice dinner for 4 people. Highly recommended

I have ordered takeout from the sushi restaurant several times and yesterday was the first opportunity I had to dine in. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the decor was shabby at best. The server was very kind and the sushi platters themselves were quite tasty. There was a lot of the artificial crab Chris mayonnaise which are not ones I prefer however I understand they are cost-effective Additionally the prices had all gone up a few dollars since the last time I was there which is understandable after covid and the trucker convoy that did a lot of damage to the Ottawa downtown businesses.

Got the Bikini roll and veg miso soup for pick-up, didn t have to wait too long and they were friendly just busy. Soup was still hot after walking home and didn t spill, the roll was perfect and made to order as requested w/o the radish. Tasted very fresh and came with a delicious ginger sauce instead of just soya. Will come back sometime

First time traveling to Ottawa and chose to try out this place and it was terrible. We ordered sashimi and sushi platter and the sushi was terrible. The sushi rice was just cold plain rice and huge for the size of the fish on top, we lessened some of the rice. Never had the rice on nigiri that was not mixed with vinegar. We were not happy with the quality for the price that we paid. One of the sashimi had a thorn inside and my husband had to spit out the whole piece. The server wasnt available (saw her leaving the store while we were eating). We were the only customer at the time and no one checked with us. No customer service at all. We had two sashimi and sushi platters, one roll, and prawn tempura and the cost was $80. Overall, had terrible experience here. Highly recommend to avoid this place. Save your money and spend somewhere else where its more valuable.

The best sushi Ive ever eaten !!!

I liked the varieties of the sushi rolls and their design for the cucumber cups was really cute! They could use a good cleaning of the window sills and floors though. And the service was a bit slow. But otherwise it was a pretty decent stop for sushi. Get the Ottawa roll and the red dragon! Skip the tataki salad.

The restaurant serves very nice sushi and the price and quantity is also great. One thing to note is that they dont serve any alcohol beverages.

I ve been going to that restaurant for very long time Food extraordinary but staff incompetence is above and beyond!! third time they DID THE same error by same employee that shouldn t be there anymore but somehow is.. tells me the food would be ready for pick up in 30 minutes i always give them extra Time to finish cause i m aware how slow they are i come from tenth line orleans my order was NOT EVEN STARTED !! That was LAST TIME I LL EVER DEAL WITH THEM!! unnaceptable wasting people valuable tome!

Went in today to get takeout and their rolls are delicious! They were made quickly and packaged nicely for me to take home. The cafe itself has a cozy little eat-in place and an outside area you can sit at on nice days. My total came to $14 something for 2 rolls (a large and a medium). It kinda seemed a bit pricey but it could be because this is the first non-ayce sushi place Ive been to. The quality makes up for it though and Ill be back :)

Great experience. The waitress made sure we always had water, refilling it before we ran out. The sushi was good! We did the chef combo where they select your rolls (you dont get to pick) and we loved them all. I would go again!

We ordered the chef s special sushi platter (20 pieces) so we didn t know from before what we we ll get and the salmon & tuna poke bowl. The sushi platter was average. I didn t think the rolls were that fresh. The poke bowl, however, was great. Super filling, flavourful & had a good dressing & it also came with a miso soup.

Unreliable staff , irresponsible for failing to prepare the food on time for pick up sometimes they even forget and prices are high make me come all way from orleans and they forgot about my order and thats not once several Times or always have to wait on top of the 30 minutes they claim it should be ready in i come 45 minutes and order still not ready

Great food, fresh tasting, tasty and quick. Servers werent overly friendly, but not unpleasant either. Vegetarian options: Lots of options, tofu, or veggie Kid-friendliness: Highchairs!

I got the dynamite roll. It was supposed to be a large roll but the pieces were no larger than any other roll from anywhere else. I was still very hungry. The total was $13.50 for these 5 pieces

I noticed how filthy this place is as soon as I walked in. I hadnt eaten all day so I gave it a shot. Service was terrible! Server was rude and non existent after initial interaction. Tuna poke bowl was good but like I said , I hadnt eaten anything all day. Nothing good or special about this place. Be sure to stop by the ER for a tetanus shot after eating here.....

The food quality is amazing here, ingredients are clearly fresh, and the service is always very client oriented. Highly recommend as an order ahead and pick up option, depending on the time of day a 2 person order is usually ready for pick up in 15-20 minutes.

Good Sushi place. Ordered appetizer: volcano. Highly recommend, I would rate it 9/10, loss 1 point because the portion is a little bit small, but taste fantastic! Ordered appetizer: prawn tempura. Also highly recommended! 9/10 taste awesome, except for the onion one. Sushi: I would highly recommended Alaska, which is their special Maki roll. Love it! The only thing is the waiting time. We ordered pick up and it took 1 hour to prepare the food. But I would say the food worth the waiting:) Will order again but definitely plan the time ahead!

Amazing place for sushi. Not super pricey and very cozy when dine in is allowed. This is my wife s and mine favourite sushi place in town. We lost count of how many sushis we ve had there and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. It s always fresh and personnel is always very polite and nice.

I moved from Vancouver and couldn t get myself to eat the sushi here, but after craving it too much, decided to try this place close to home and they really wowed me!!! Its the worst sushi restaurant i ever tried. Its so slow and not fresh as it should be. Only few tables. Small but not exquisite. Their floor is slippery with oil. That means not very clean..

A cute little restaurant, it was perfect for a date night. It looks like they have geared themselves more towards takeout due to Covid-19 restrictions and have done so very successfully. Several people came in for pickup while we were there and the food was ready for them either right away or within a couple minutes. We ordered a few different appetizers and rolls, and they all came out looking beautiful and vibrant. The fish looked and tasted super fresh and the rice was well seasoned. The chef had great plating/presentation skills. We really enjoyed the appetizers, the seaweed salad was perfect. My fiancée has a mild avocado allergy and even though most of the items on the menu contain avocado, they made everything without and put some on the side for myself. We were very impressed. I think this will be a regular date spot for us now.

I ordered one of the chefs combo and it came with a miso soup and several rolls. I would recommend ordering it to try the different rolls. The quality of sushi is decent for its value, but the quality of the sushi can definitely be improved. Its a good place for a quick lunch or a simple dinner.

When you crave Sushi on a MONDAY you go here!!! We had the 42 piece Sashimi, the Atlantis Rolls and the Green salad. Generous sized fish, fresh, delicious!! The owner even made us a special dessert to help us celebrate our 29th anniversary We will definitely be going back again & again!!!

Sushi here is very good (: the service is very nice but a little slow, so don t come here if you re in a rush ! I recommend the paradise maki and the dynamite futomaki. The deep fried mango iced cream is a must-try !
