The most reliable Thai restaurant you can ever go to! I have been coming here with my wife for years!! Always amazing !
Our go to for Thai food in Ottawa. This place is quite farther from us but we donโt mind making the trek for some outstanding Thai dishes. They have been in business for over 25 years because quality and quantity is always spot on. Spicy, fragrant and fresh dishes. Donโt miss out.
Used to go here to enjoy the panang. Went today and to my disappointment, the chicken tasted old, was very dry and over cooked. It use to be phenomenal. I'm assuming they are now using precooked chicken. Very unfortunate that I won't be able to recommend your restaurant anymore.
I ordered the pad Thai from DoorDash, the flavour is good but Iโm not seeing or tasting any bean sprouts or chives in my dish. These are very typical ingredients to include so that the dish has a fresh, crunchy component included. There was also no lime wedge with my order. Iโm disappointed because the dish has no depth! Itโs just okay.
I love the Pad thai that I ordered! The staffs were nice and friendly!
Ordered the Satay, in one word outstanding! My main course was Penang Curry. I could taste each ingredient and then the burn (heat) which is the way it should be. For dessert I chose the Coconut ice cream and you can't go wrong with this. I'll be back. Don't believe the bad reviews because the food is good!
Very nice Thai restaurant, well decorated, comfortable atmosphere. A bit hard to find but itโs there. Staff is very friendly and polite. Place is clean. Great choice of food. My fried rice was a little greasy, next time Iโll try the curry dishes. Big can of Sapporo beer was $8, reasonable.
The sun will rise every morning, I will run over a pothole on my commute, and I will order Pad Thai at a Thai restaurant; these things I know to be true. This was no exception as I selected the Nikolai classic of a ginger ale and one of my favourite dishes. We ate at this round table and it was a meeting of the minds if not a meeting of Pad Thai because we were all craving the peanuty dish. And? It ruled. The atmosphere was excellent and the staff lovely, a great dinner indeed
Food was great and friendly staff!
My first meal at Sala Thai was a sit-down meal with family at the restaurant. The food was good but sadly, getting take out about a year later was a disaster. The food was of such poor quality that it was hard to believe it came from the same restaurant. It was so bad that I will never eat there again. The food was bland, overcooked and the beef was as tough as leather. For the first meal I give Sala Thai 4 stars and for the second 2 , which comes to an average of 3 stars.
Very nice restaurant. The staff very friendly and the restaurant very neat. The food was absolutely delicious, I drove from kanata just to have dinner , and didn t disappoint. Highly recommend this restaurant
Solid authentic Thai cuisine. Simple place, great service, varied menu and reasonably priced.
Wonderfully fresh ingredients! Their chicken satay and the sauce is fantastic. Their pad siew is my favorite!
Tasty
Everytime I am in Ottawa, I always make sure that Sala Thai food is coming home with me. It is THE BEST THAI FOOD IVE WVER EATEN !!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT ! HAPPINESS IS SALA THAI IN MY TUMMY ! When I was a patient at the Ottasa Heart Institute, I was able to get 2 orders of the Chicken Panang - my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE DISH !!!- delivered to me. It absolutely made my day!!! Since it was my 50th Birthday and I had to spend it in hospital, the Sala Thai Food made it one of my BEST BIRTHDAYS EVER !!!! , , Sala Thai is so worth a trip to Ottawa from Kingston ! Parking: Shared parking with other stores
It may still be the Thai standard in Ottawa, however they may be at risk of losing that title if they stay status-quo. I love their Pad Thai. The servicevwas lacking and the wait time bordered on annoying. Same menu as 10 years ago. They do what they do well.
Great Thai food - my favourite in Ottawa! Nice place to have a meal and catch up with friends.
Idk man... Not great: we went in the evening and it was so gloomy inside, half of the room kept in the dark, the service was okay but the food was very mediocre, mine came in a completely busted and chipped dish and my partner seems to have food poisoning from a cashew dish. I didnt take picture but it wasnt very appealing. From their other reviews it seems like takeout is very risky here, but I feel like eating there in person during the evening was just off too. Might seem silly but I think the owners should take a good look at how it feels to eat in there, replace the broken dish, the dirty tablecloth, and get some proper warm lighting.
This is our familys go-to Thai restaurant. The Gaeng Khua Sapparot is our absolute favorite, we love the pineapple and the red curry has just the right amount of spice!
Pad Thai here is the best in the city. So delicious!
Sala thai Another great spot in Alta Vista area, I Love thai food and this has to be one of my favorites. Check it out, the curry is incredible!
Great prices, decent food. Overall it s worth it for the price but the flavour was lacking. Overall food seemed fresh
I could not eat my dinner. Tasteless, meat was tough and chewy. Noodles overcooked and soggy. Spring rolls dripping in oil. Extremely disappointed!! There are much better Thai restaurants in Ottawa. Food
Great Thai place. Very reasonable prices!
Takeout food is horrible! Both taste and quality. They deliver 4 meals and I couldnt eat any. All went to garbage. Dont waste your money
Food we received by Uber delivery was impossible to eat! Never again
Just discovered this great Thai place, amazing food and service. Try the Best Ever Tom Kha Thai Coconut Soup!
So good! It was served very hot. Wish I got to try more because the dish i ordered was well made but not my favourite
Quality food
Delicious herb soup, coconut milk and shrimp. Served hot! Appetizers: tender, fried, light and delicious tofu! Im a fan of tofu and this one was worth choosing! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian dishes on the menu: delicious tofu. Vegetables. Parking: Small shopping center. There is always room. Wheelchair accessibility: Small step at the entrance...right on the parking lot.
Unique flavor and a nice welcoming person
Amazing food and friendly staff. The ambiance is very calm. I love it!
Much much better than I expected. Food was really good. Service was top notch and honestly, a really pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Very disappointed with the food I ordered. Curry didn t come with rice as advertised and the curry itself had zero taste. Tom yum goong soup was a little better but overall no flavour.
I wish the takeout food was at the same quality level as when I went in person (although that was a year ago). The tom yum goong was awful and bland. It just had a few mushrooms and 3 overcooked shrimp. The tod gratian prik Thai was somehow worse. The dish was Luke warm by the time we sat down to eat, the sauce was basically bad broth and the chicken had no flavour. Not getting food here again and I recommend you don t either.
Very reasonable price in this inflation economy. Taste pretty good.
We went on a saturday at lunch and the place was deserted. We were skeptical for the quality if food but it was OK. It was a little bit more expensive than other places. Overall it was OK. Food
Went in for their $10 lunch special which I found online to getting there and having to pay $17. They had a sign saying sorry for raising our prices. I understand a small increase but this was almost twice the price. It is expected these days to update your online prices. Disappointed.
pad se iew was bland, dry and was a piece of egg shell in it. broccoli was canadian broccoli and not chinese broccoli so it s not authentic disappointing food and the noodles were all stuck together and weren t even the large egg noodles. they put pad thai noodles
Good price for quick lunch. Food was ready within 5min. Good portion and tasty. This dish is about $14.5 which is fine given inflation
Food was delicious and the tea was refreshing. The Panang and the Pad Thai was flavorful and an exquisite venture. Between lemon Grass tea, the pad Thai and the Panang, the flavors were mouth watering and scrumptious. The sweet spicy flavor with the soft spoonful entangling texture of white rice and the Pad Thai Thailands salty flavor was a fusing journey to Sala Thai Cuisine. I highly recommend it
This was the first time I have been to this restaurant. It is a really nice spot that checked all the boxes. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and the dining area was nicely decorated and quiet (we went on a Monday).
I used to live beside a different Thai restaurant in south keys (plus from Toronto so have had plenty of amazing Thai food) and while this place has good food, it still doesn t compare unfortunately. I got chicken pad thai and green curry with chicken. Like I said, they re good, but not quite the quality I m used to. The pad thai was good but a little dry? The curry was spicy which I like but lacked a little flavour. I ordered delivery though so it s possible that played a factor! Satisfied my craving but will probably make the trek to my old Thai place in the future
Food was delicious
I am not sure they meet standard food criteria s , tofu in all our dishes were smelled bad . I had a bad experience and staff were least bothered about customer experience. Pad Thai was a big disaster turning out to be a desert that smelled eggish I wish I had 0 star to give these people .
Pad Thai was not delicious. I dont know why people recommend it. I wasted my money believing the reviews on pad Thai. I have tried soup before. Thought I should try peoples recommendations this time and I disappointed again. Their food was never delicious.
We loved this restaurant for delicious authentic Thai and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We will certainly recommend this to friends and will come back whenever we are in the area again.
Recommended by a friend and will recommend it to other friends
Good restaurant, nice atmosphere, courteous and fast service, excellent food.
I ve ordered the green curry with tofu. It was said to be mild, almost not spicy. I almost couldn t eat it, so hot it was. There wasn t even a hot pepper symbol beside the dish in the menu. Place is nice and the staff was very friendly though.
I have tried many Thai restaurants in the Ottawa area. This is by far my favoate Thai restaurant. I woukd drive a cross the city for their amazing dishes.
Everything was good. The music could be better. The drunken noodles and the curry were delicious. The bowl of soup is unique because it provides an alternative than Tom Yum/Coconut soup. We had a great meal.
Some of the best thai food in ottawa.
So many choices, too little room in my stomach. Will definitely revisit.
Great food, fast service. Love having great Thai food in South Ottawa/ Alta Vista - Bank Street.
The food was hot i ll give it that, but it was absolutely horrible. I ordered the khao pad (35A) and couldn t believe my eyes when i saw how off putting it looked. I m not thai but i ve eaten at two thai restaurants and they had pretty good fried rice (my current hyper fixation at the moment). I decided not to judge a book by its cover and give it taste, it was not good. i know now to avoid this place. I ordered through uber eats so you know it was really pricey to get the meal. i m sad but that s my fault.
Best Thai food in Ottawa!
Tasty desserts, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and great prices!
Hands down the best Thai food I have ever had in my life! Could literally eat this every day. We had the Gai Pad Med Mamuang, Pad Kee Mao and Pad Siew. my favourite was the Pad Kee Mao - very similar to the Cashew Chicken I usually get at other (less-authentic) Thai restaurants. So.full.of.flavour!!! Was so impressed by the customer service as well. I phoned my order in, and the lady called me by my first name as though she knew me when I picked it up. Really just went above and beyond can t wait to visit again.
Amazing authentic food and customer service. I love the coconut ice cream!!!
I went there for lunch before the lockdown and it was delicious! Very satisfying experience and the staff was so friendly. Cant wait to go back soon
Ordered 3 different curries, pad thai and the tom yum soup. The curries were amazing, especially the green curry. Keow warn and sapparot were a bit spicy. Tom yum soup is a clear broth, instead of red, as others have said so it was confusing, but the taste is similar. The pad thai was okay for us. They do offer halal options for all the chickens in the menu, which is really great so thank you for having that.
Excellent dining experience. Only 4 other fully occupied tables in the restaurant, well spaced for privacy and COVID. Food was quickly delivered and properly cooked and spiced. When we are down this way again we will definitely eat here.
Great Thai food (especially the pad Thai and green curry) and friendly staff.
Went on Monday and timed it right as the crowd arrived just after we did. Had the shrimp spring roll, no change there. Had Pad Thai and some beef ginger dish. The beef dish was delish!! The Pad Thai so so. Good service though. Went for the 5-10 pm hours. Ordered Spring roll (shrimp), all it was was a simple tail on shrimp and wonton wrapper), Thom Yum gai (sweet and sour soup w/mushrooms and shrimp), tail on, minimal amount of mushrooms. Restaurant was very very hot inside and the bathroom was ridiculously small if you werent built like a twig!!! I would not recommend this restaurant. Sorry Sala Thai.... maybe youll do better in the future
Amazing! Service was great, ambiance was lovely. The food was delicious. The person working at the front, possibly the owner? Was very friendly, and attentive. I would most definitely go again.
Great food and friendly staff, great thai place.
Amazing food and friendly service. Best Thai food in Ottawa.
Quick and tasty
Ive used Sala Thai to feed a small office staff twice; both times the food was hot and fresh, the orders were perfectly accurate and the take-out service was fast, friendly and accommodating. An excellent Thai food choice in Ottawa.
Tastiest Thai food in Ottawa
Worse Pad Thai I have ever had. It was a pile of mush on a plate. Tasted like a tomato sauce with ketchup. Never again
I ordered the Pad Thai and the Thai Basil Chicken. Both were excellent. This was my first visit but Ill be back.
It was okay. A bit on the pricier side for what you get but will give it another shot. The chicken in the Gaeng Garee Gai didnt seem to be properly de-boned. The panang was good.
Parking: Convenient
I cannot recommend this place enough! The pad Thai and yellow curry are my all time favourites. If you want delicious Thai food go here!!!
We called ahead to understand if we could come at 8pm. She mentioned last order before 8:30pm, but didn t mention that half of the menu is not available
I had the Pad Kee Mao based on the recommendation of the hostess. I like things on the spicy side and this was perfect. Definitely worth a repeat visit next time I am in the Ottawa area. Many other items on the menu that look inviting.
Great food and service. One of my go to places to eat.
The food is so bad the waiting is long the service is very bad I am not going back again never
Food was good place is cleaned and presentable Pricing is fair service could be better
I popped in on a Saturday early afternoon, 12:15 and was worried because no one was there but the service was excellent and the Pad Thai was very good. I also tried the lemongrass tea which was amazing. It also started to fill up after I had eaten.
Excellent food and amazing service!!!
Great place to satisfy cravings for Thai food in Ottawa. Excellent service.
Not vegetarian friendly. Vegetarian pad Thai was OK. It was very much blend taste.
Delicious green curry.
Overcooked pad thai, drowned in sauce. Not good! Worst thai food ever eaten !
By far the best Thai my partner and I have had in the city. Will be returning and going out of our way. Thanks for making amazing food!
Ive literally been ordering the same thing from this place for 8 years: #42 (yellow chicken curry with coconut milk and potatoes) with a side of rice. The lunch-time special equivalent is D on the menu. It is so good it has the power to console me on the worst of days. Anyone Ive introduced it to has also agreed its delicious. Im sure there are other great things on the menu, but I wouldnt know because I struck gold the first time I ordered and Ive never looked back. I hope covid has not impacted them too harshly because I would be devastated if I couldnt get my yellow curry anymore.
Sala Thai is our go to spot for Thai food. Always served with a smile.
The food was ok, but the pad thai tasted like ketchup, and the pad sew wasnt made with flat noodles and didnt taste like pad sew is supposed to taste.
Delicious food, good selection of menu items, always made fresh from quality ingredients. Good COVID protocols, friendly service, take-out is carefully wrapped so it wont leak in your car. Some in-house dining, not crowded at all.
Back in the days when Thai food restaurants are almost non-existent in Ottawa, lo and behold... Sala Thai came to be. The mark of a true and tested dish is the consistency of taste and texture of the food and Sala Thai remained consistent with every dish that comes out of the kitchen. Time and time again, Sala Thai delivers dishes that is authentic as it can get. The perennial favourite that is Pad Thai, is always cooked just right. The best way to sample a particular dish, is just try them all, bec. its that good. Going to Sala Thai is an epic adventure for you palette, so dont wait any further. Go now.
Excellent food and friendly service.
Best Pad Thai in all of Ottawa, great service and amazing panang. Highly recommend
First time ordering today off Uber eats. Delicious!!! I will definitely be ordering again. Thank you :) Kels
This is the second time I do a 5 star review to this restaurant. Absolutely wonderful Wow
I was completely blown away by how delicious everything tasted. Ive never really cared for Thai food but this place converted me. I wish I found it sooner! The service was also excellent and the restaurant was very clean and covid friendly. Im going to be a regular here from now on.
My go-to Thai place! I love their red and green curries. Generous portion sizes, always makes two meals for me (except when my taste buds get the best of me and I can t stop myself from eating it all!)
Very disappointed, the first time I ordered soup it was nothing but broth. I gave them another chance and this time I picked up their lunch special and I specifically asked her what the seafood included. I was advised that its a mixture of squid shrimp and scallops with baby corn and mushroom. When I got home there was squid and shrimp with pepper and onion no scalloped no baby corn. Maybe not a huge deal but when youre looking forward to something specific and get home and find something else its a bit of a damper on the mood.
Poor quality food. Not tasty nor authentic. Beef was so tough could not eat it. Chicken and potatoes was better but was supposed to be spicy and really wasnt. Do not recommend.
Delicious food and the friendliest staff. Love this place!
They prepared a meal for 7 people/take out and it was outstanding.
This gem of a restaurant has been open for 30 years for a reason. The food is great, the selection is enormous and the service is friendly. The decor is dated, but you cant eat that anyways .
Love this place!!! The food is always delicious!!!
No complaints. The waitress was nice and the food was good.
My wife and I went for dinner on October 2nd. Absolutely fantastic quality food. I ordered two 17 star spicy dishes (this was an overexaggeration to indicate how spicy I wanted my dishes ) and they delivered. My wife really enjoyed her soup and red curry. Waitress was very courteous - will return!
Was decent food but tofu was dry. The staff felt in a rush
I ve been looking for a GOOD thai restaurant for a long time. Tried so many thai food in Ottawa. This is literally THE BEST thai restaurant in town. Not too sweet ; not too oily. Perfect. I will never order from other thai places. This will be my go-to place from now on.
The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! If you are craving Thai food this place is a must to try, you will be hooked.
Just perfect
Authentic Thai palette. Deliciously prepared and served in a timely manner. The dishes are well prepared and presented. Flavors and aromas await you. Fresh products, Thai Menu offering several choices including Labp Moa (hot pork salad), Som Tan (green papaya salad), mango salad, pad Thai. Without hesitation, a place to include in your list of favorite restaurants and with authentic flavor.
Very good food
Food had a nice aroma to it, tasted quite authentic. Be it the fried rice or curry dishes we ordered, the meat and shrimp were cooked just right! And the vegetables were crispy rather than soggy which makes a huge difference to the texture of the dish. Highly recommended as we felt the cooks put a lot of effort into making gather food rather than just slapping it on the plate.
Chicken satay was rubbery, peanut sauce was not good at all. Seafood sizzler has only 3, just 3 shrimps and lots of watery sauce, onion and carrot. I didnt get what I ordered. The tapioca dessert was even more disappointing. There was neither mango nor black beans at all. Totally disappointed again. :-{
Went here for a Sunday lunch. Ordered two items from the lunch special and one item from the main menu. Pad Thai was salty instead of sweet and had a lot of peanuts. The order of yellow rice with pineapple was amazing I could eat that every day ! The red chicken curry was flavorful as well. Unfortunately all of these portions were really small for two people. Considering the price point the chicken curry didn t even come with a ball of rice. Definitely will go to try more items again I had expectations set high based on all the reviews.
It s alright.
Friendly service, good food, decent prices. I really enjoyed the red curry and fried rice. Overall had a lovely lunch with my family and we would go again.
Amazing!!
Absolutely excellent Thai food. Really enjoyed it - fresh and good spicing level.
My go-to Thai restaurant. Good food and service.
Great food and service - as usual
Excellent food, my favorite Thai restaurant in the city.
The food is exellent the service is on point I would recommend going there
Sala Thai is a fantastic experience everytime I go there. No excuse to go to Thai Express with this around. Their drunken noodles + the choose of many different spice levels are awesome. Ill keep returning here for my Thai food needs!
Awesome food. The food is really good
Great Thai restaurant. Serves Halal chicken as well. Great presentation and tasty food.
Great food, friendly service. Some say best in Ottawa.
Jasmine rice is mushy, fried fish was mushy, pad Thai was overcooked. Tom yum soup was clear?!? Sorry to be blunt I wouldn t eat here if you know what Thai food should taste like....
Went there for my first time recently. I find it slightly expensive but the food is great.
Food is delicious. friendly staff and I wish I could take home the soup in a bucket.....wait, can I?
Excellent place. The food is well prepared The environment is nice and cozy The owner is friendly and kind I love the food and I think is the best thai restaurant in Ottawa
Really bland. Very basic. Average at best.
Amazing pad Thai! Great service! A hidden gem!
FYI: I AM SO ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT!!! Back story: I ve been teleworking for 10 weeks (work politics before the office shut down mid-March). I ve been trying to save my pennies but decided to try a new Thai restaurant before Foodora totally shut down. Unfortunately, I should have anticipated that Foodora would not be the most reliable of delivery companies. However, Maria at Sala Thai was amazing communicating with me last evening. After I had been waiting for 60+ minutes for a Foodora pick-up confirmation, I contacted Foodora s help line. They informed me that my order couldn t be picked up until 11 when Sala Thai closed at 8. I called Maria back to explain the situation after Foodora refunded my order and she was so wonderful and SHE PERSONALLY DELIVERED my food to outside her normal delivery area where I paid with cash. The food was hot and steaming when it arrived (after 2 hours from initial Foodora order). The customer service was above and beyond. Most importantly, it was a) the best Thai I ve had in Ottawa, and b) OMFG IT S SO GOOD even as leftovers. I truly can t wait until the CoVid-19 cases become more because I m so excited to drive to this restaurantb and eat in their dining room. You won t be disappointed. Edit: Om nom nom nom nom nom (x1000000)
Love this place. Have been going for years, and it never disappoints. The Gang Garee Gai (Yellow curry with chicken and potatoes) is life changing. Very nice people who run the restaurant. Highly recommended.
Our favorite Thai in Ottawa! Love the panang curry
We love the food and the owners - both are fantastic. I am greeted by name when I call in an order, and the food never disappoints. They are amazing at veganizing any dish, and their Tom Kha Gai is the best in the city.
Got delivery for the first time. Delicious food. Friendly service.
I always liked this restaurant for its great food and friendly service. But how is it during the pandemic. So instead of going out for my birthday I asked my family to order and pick up some of my favourite dishes. The dishes were generous portions and well packaged. The green curry was excellent as were the spring rolls. We ordered Yum Woonsen as I never tried a Yum ( salad) main course. It was tasty but to my surprise it was warm! A shrimp and pork and glass noodle salad . We also tried a Pad Sieu which was a wonderful rice noodle dish plus we ordered a yellow curry. Overall we were all very happy with the food and the service at the door.
the food is really good for sure and the services is fantastic. I came here because a friend of mine recommended eating here. The restaurant is now closing at 9PM INSTEAD OF 10PM. I came here from 1hr bus ride but the owner is kind enough to let me dine in. This restaurant already has higher rating than any average thai cuisine restaurant in Ottawa.
Delicious, fresh and authentic. Highly recommend the beef panang curry. Generous portions with a lot of meat! Just like I had in Thailand!
Best Thai food! Always fresh and delicious. Cozy atmosphere. Maria always makes you feel at home. Highly recommended!
Delicious and friendly service
One of the best Thai restaurants in Ottawa. Fair prices and good service.
25+ year of top notch service and quality food. Still serving amazing take meal options!
Ordered for the first time and boy was I impressed. Fantastic service. I can smell the thai herbs and spices in all the food. My wife wanted to try the soup and she was impressed. Most importantly they have halal meat options. Shout out to the management team. Keep it up!
I absolutely loved my experience at Salai Thai! The service was great, the food presentation was lovely and mostly the food was delicious!! I took the Pad Siew (I took it without eggs or meat) and it was delicious! The price is good considering the portion size, and its great how they have many vegetarian and vegan options. Great place!
Top notch food from these guys! Never disappointed
Excellent place! Chicken satay skewers and green curry are great. Really well priced lunch specials.
Cant miss especially at lunch.
So disappointing got take out last night and felt like i wasted my fifty dollars the shrimp spring rolls were stinky the pad thai was dry and tasteless and thr shrimp.dish was mostly vegetables and only had four shrimp such a waste we will not be back
We came here for dinner last night and had a nice time. Food was good and hostess was very friendly. Prices are reasonable and they give you a lot of food. Good place to eat in this area!
Very good menu selection. The Drunken Noodle were HOT! Just the way they should be. Loved it
The yellow curry chicken is amazing! Check out their specials on the weekend
Good food
Needs a little more service.
Was disappointed with the VEG lunch option. there was only one, and it was a pretty flavorless garlic sauce, not even a curry option. They claimed all of their curries have fish sauce, so then why is there a green curry in the Vegetarian dinner menu? Does that mean I had fish sauce when i came in for dinner a few months back and i wasnt told? On top of all of this, the soup that comes with the curry (which is only vegetables, no tofu, i had to pay extra for that) has a chicken broth and they refuse to substitute with something else! Terrible! Oh. And I am still hungry.
Amazing food, super flavourful, fresh, and I love how the fried rice comes in a pineapple.
A hidden gem recommended by a friend. I had the green curry, delicious! Try this place if you can find it.
Fresh great quality food and friendly welcoming service
Best Thai food in the city
Love this place!
I read some good reviews about this place and being such a huge lover of Authentic Thai food I wanted to try this place out for myself. So this evening my fiancee and I went. We started with the Tom Kha Goong soup and Satay Chicken Skewers. Both were absolutely delicious.. The Chicken was slightly rubbery but the flavours and peanut sauce made up for it. For our main entrees we decided on Gaeng Garee Gai (light curry chicken with coconut milk and potatoes) And Chicken Pad Thai.. The curry was amazing.. It was actually so good that I would come back to this place for this dish alone.. However the pad thai was not so great.. In Fact it was quite disappointing. This place claims to be an authentic Thai restaurant however their Pad Thai tastes like something I would purchase at a cheap fast food restaurant in a food court. Im pretty sure the sauce was made from mostly ketchup and molasses.. Which are ingredients you would normally find in an americanized version of Pad Thai but not an authentic version.. Real Pad Thai sauce should have Tamarind, fish sauce, siratcha, lime, palm sugar and vinegar and should be more of a dry sauce on the noodles.. ( I couldnt taste any of these ingredients) And the flavour is supposed to be hot, sweet and sour all rolled into one.. this was just sweet and saucy.. Honestly.. I have been disappointed with most Pad Thai in Ottawa so much that I started making my own. Which by the way is based on an actual Thailand recipe and ACTUALLY tastes authentic. I am still waiting to find a place in this city with real Pad Thai.. Someone please point me in the direction of a place that actually has it..
A favorite spot for delicious thai food that leaves you wanting more! The shrimp rolls were tasty, the soups were flavored to perfection and our main courses were beautifully presented. Highly reccomend!
Excellent food and service.
Amazing food!! Love this place so much, it is out of the way from our house but we make the trip for the great food
So so good
Sala Thai is one of my go-to restaurants for good thai food, good service and nice presentation. Ive been going there for a few years now and it never disappoints.
Always a treat.
Excellent food!
Cozy, great food and friendly staff.
