Vietnamese foods
Ordered from skip the dishes. The beef pho noodle soup was amazing. All the add ins for the soup were a great touch. I enjoyed the chicken dumplings too they were really nice and juicy. The order was ready and delivered very quick.
I rarely write negative reviews, but my recent visit to this restaurant was such a letdown that I felt it necessary to share. From the moment we sat down, the service was shockingly poor. The server completely forgot to take our order. After waiting 30 minutes with no acknowledgment, we had to walk up to him to remind him—only to find him scrolling on his phone the entire time. Adding insult to injury, we weren’t even given water while we waited. When our food finally arrived, it didn’t get much better. I ordered the pho, but the broth was bland and completely lacked any flavor—nothing like the rich, aromatic broth you’d expect. To top it off, we were charged an unexpected $3 fee for extra lime, which the server never mentioned when we asked for it. And when it came time to pay, there was an additional 50-cent charge for using a card. Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing. Between the inattentive service, lackluster food, and surprise charges, I can’t say I’d recommend this place to anyone. Save your time and money and go elsewhere!
I ordered a fried rice today and it was soggy and very watery. Meat tasted really old and overall the experience was really bad. I ordered this because I ordered the same dish few weeks ago and it was really nice. But this order disappointed me. Felt like it was heated up after keeping in the freezer for sometime. Very unpleasant presentation and not to standards.
Great Vietnamese restaurant! The food was delicious. But I think they need more staff to speed up the service. As the service was a bit slow. Cheers,
The food was great and filling and it was presented in a fancy way. The washrooms were clean and there was calm music playing. We ordered the 30B.
UberEats delivery order: satisfied with the food and delivery time was as expected. Ordered banh mi sandwiches (grilled pork and deli versions), chicken fried rice and fried shrimp wontons. Minus one star for the banh mi sandwiches since the bread and deli meat were just ok and there were no chillies. Pricing was a bit high too. Good portion for the fried rice. Highlight was the shrimp wontons! Super yummy. Would like to try other menu items in person such as their pho.
I don’t usually leave reviews about food but when I do it’s because I don’t want others wasting their money or getting stomach symptoms from sketchy food. The rice with beef and chicken was by far the worse I had. The meat were cold and thin. Chicken was slightly warmer but this made me suspicious to even accept the heating up offer. Probably we’re pre packaged meat just microwaved. The coconut drink was small portion as well as you can see the fill line. Price for food was 18$ and drink was 5.95. The second pic of the food is what I threw away after I told them it wasn’t good. They did not offer any options aside to heat it up. But hey I rather eat safely than take a chance and get sick. Atmosphere is nice though!
It’s generally open late night so it’s a good to place in nighttime; so it’s very busy all the time. As they cater a lot of customers it’s hard to maintain quality to be honest. I think I had below average Tom yum soap after long time; the shrimp wonton was alright; and price wise it’s expensive. Best part was customer service, they are very friendly and humble.
Great service and great staff, always happy to see us even when we havent been in a while!
Nice Vietnamese restaurant, lots of choices and many plates to try. If you love Pho soups this is the place to visit. Just make sure you ask for the spots sprouts and basil when there are more than one bowl of pho soup, they will gladly give you more .
I really loved the food in this restaurant. Tasteful and delicious. Highly in
Best bahn mis in the city!!
Be here twice now and Ive tried a lot of the locations on somerset and this is my favorite since my original location closed down.
But 5 get 6 Vietnamese sandwiches and good bubble tea!!
Wonderful customer service. Make us feel like home. We had our favourite Bun Bo which is the best so far in town.
This is literally the only Pho place when you order delivery that will not provide all the other items that you would assume would be in a Pho (the herbs, lime, adequate sriacha, and hoisin). Just be prepared to not have all the essentials if you are ordering online from this restaurant.
The food is not quite yummy there is something you need to inprove, The service must improve,
I have bought my Vietnamese food here for over 7 years. I am never disappointed! Keep up the great food and client service.
Long wait and rude staff. Horrible
Good service, good food.
Really nice spot to eat with friends especially late at night Parking: Parking on the side of the street where spots are available. Free on Sundays Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair accessibility
One of my two favourite places in Ottawa. Recommend the Bun Bo Hue.
My go-to Bahn mi spot. Affordable and delicious.
Awesome place for some tasty Pho Soup and amazing iced vietnamese coffee. Have been going there quite often and would definitely go back.
Bad service, they made a mistake on my order and didnt even apologize.
Very lovely lady at the front counter, nice atmosphere. When you have such a friendly person working there its bound to be great. Love their chow mein will go again.
The food is a mixed bag. Some ok. Many quite bad. Ordered a chicken skewer and it was so dry I could barely swallow it. The banh mi is mostly good but oh man the pork they use is so grisly.
Ordered by Uber. The food was warm, but it didnt have any taste. There was no flavor to any of the food I had. The fried chicken dumplings were dry and tasted old. It was not fried . The chicken pho had big chunky meat, and there was no condiment that came with it. It was the worst Pho I ever had in my life.
The food is amazing. Weve been going there for years at least twice a week.
Dumplings were hard, pad thai tasted sour, and the shrimp was extremely fishy tasting (so obviously old shrimp)
Decent food !! Comfort food !
Real professionals serving consumers!!!!!
Loved this place when I was a student and introduced many friends to it. Now, its very pricey for what you get and the customer service is not good. Will not return.
I love their bubble tea so0o0o g00d!!!! Service
Bad manager. Ok food. Choose another pho place!
Bought some takeout Pho, the broth is incredible Vegetarian options: Vegetarian specialty soup was amazing Food : 5/5 Recommended dishes
Went there for a Bahn Mi to go today ($8+taxes). Price was fair, quantity was filling. Food was good. Not spicy at all. Service was great. Place decor is unassuming and a bit dated, the menu is easy to navigate with photos of the items under glass top on each tables.
When there are so many great Pho places around, this one shouldnt be the one chosen. The meat was not to the standard in the soup, and the broth could be better as well. Ended up there because the best Pho on booth st was closed, maybe the sandwiches are a better deal?
Shockingly overpriced.
The worst pho restaurant! Stay away from here! Not worth the price. They charge $17/pho depends what you order. Worse food worse server. I don t recommend anyone to come here. Food was horrible - the soup was not hot, came out not warm nor hot, less meat, lots of pho. Taste like water. Server - unprofessional. Like a beginner.
The food here is delicious whether dining in or ordering for delivery.
Usually I order delivery but Ive been in person and the food is always delicious. Best pho restaurant in Ottawa hands down
Pho bo ga 2 is better in taste.
Takeout review : 50$ for 2 soups and 2 spring rolls. Really not worth it. Small portions, no vegetables at all in the soups, no limes, no sticks, no coriander Very cheap for the price.
Awesome spot for pho in Ottawa
Their veggie fried rice - ultimate comfort food, recommend. Vegetarian options: Veggie fried rice is very tasty. Same for their salad rolls. The veggie Bun is mediocre. Food : 5/5 |
We ordered 2 rice wraps.. There was only vermicelli and lettuce, no mint, no carrots, nothing. The peanut sauce was only half the container it was packed in. The pho I ordered lost half of the broth in the bag, there was no basil or lime and we were given Louisiana Style hot sauce instead of Siracha. Also chopsticks were not included... I guess they though we dont know what Vietnamese food is all about... Will DEFINITELY not be ordering from them again. Cheap ingredients and half are missing. Disappointing, especially at those prices.
I like this pho place the best out of the many options in this area. The reason? They give you a decent amount of meat. If you want fine dining, this isnt the place (is there such a thing as fine dining pho?)... but this is a great option for regular fare with good serving sizes.
Really disappointed, used to be a great place to eat but now it seems they are trying to do too much. Theres a loss of flavor to the soup and the price is not reflective of the quality. Clearly with places closing earlier now and people will inevitably go here because of lack of options.
Love the Banh Mi here and the pho is amazing, highly recommend.
Great food
The food was delicious and a fair price.
Everything is so good there
The seafood pad thai is a joke !! 3 shrimps, 1 pièce of calamari and 3 small pièces of surimi and you call it seafood ?!! The first and the last time for me !
I love this place. Solid food, real quick, and theyre open very late.
The banh mi is the best in town. The phos okay. other dishes like 3/5 4/5 But Banh Mi 5/5
Its a good place for Pho.
Love this place. Very nice server.
Very nice server, and their boba is top tier!
Kid-friendliness: Excellent kid qualities...its a family business with kid friendly products and they take great care to make sure all at the table are happy Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is at sidewalk level, but unfortunately the bathrooms are on the second floor, and there are stairs no elevator
Good food but the driver was extremely rude. I ordered directly from them instead of Uber Eats to support the business but never again. Uber Eats next time.
The food so AMAZING! The soup was so good! The service was outstanding! The popping bubble tea was my favourite! Will definitely recommend the restaurant, a 100 present! You should go to the restaurant! I will come back, restaurant was Amazing ! Vegetarian options: So much veg options! Kid-friendliness: The owner is super friendly and accommodating
The Bun Bo Hué is good
Always great food and fast.
Pho Bo Ga King is my go-to destination when Im in the mood for an authentic and satisfying bowl of Pho. This hidden gem has consistently delivered high-quality, delicious Vietnamese cuisine, and has won a special place in my heart. The Pho here is exemplary. The broth is flavorful and rich, a testament to the hours spent simmering it to extract the full depth of flavors. The noodles are cooked just right, maintaining that essential bounce and bite, while the meat, whether you opt for beef or chicken, is tender and well-seasoned. The star of the show is undoubtedly the Pho, but their menu offers a range of other mouth-watering Vietnamese dishes too. The spring rolls are crispy and flavorful, and the Bun Cha is another favorite, offering a great balance of textures and flavors. Portions at Pho Bo Ga King are generous, making it great value for money. Additionally, they offer a variety of sauces and fresh herbs on the side, allowing you to customize your dish to your taste. The staff here is always friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The environment is warm and cozy, making it a great place to enjoy a comforting meal on any day.
Good food, ok prices, friendly service, space a bit cramp.
Everything was very good, only improvement would be a stronger broth.
I love this place. It was amazing. I got the beef vermicelli, and the chicken spring rolls. ABSOLUTELY my favourite meal ive ever had. Will be coming back. I think it was the time of day I came, but it was super quiet and peaceful and the environment was beautiful. I got to relax while eating my new favourite foods! Customer service was very nice and the people were very nice. Very clean restaurant. Props to the chef in the back. She did a great job with the meals. (I think it was a lady):) thank you Pho Bo Ga King!
Good service, is open late which is great, but food is meh.
Pho was fantastic!
I ve never had worse Asian food in my life jeez
The most weird Pho I have ever had, it literally not a Pho at all, the soup tastes like chicken soup but a pho soup. Spring roll is just ok, don t recommend this one if you have other choices.
Great soup!
A favorite. Casual. Delicious. Lots of locals.
Excellent food, great service and fair pricing
Great selection. Serving sizes are huge. Flavor is amazing!
EW I just ordered from here and my soup arrived half spilled. Then when I opened up the broth container, there was a piece of plastic in it. And then as I was eating the soup, I found a bug. Worst experience Ive ever had ordering food.
Always good ! Open late which is convenient
Excellent food. I have enjoyed a good variety of choices. My daughter orders the same Pho everytime and i choose something different every visit. Great afterhours place too.
Splendid
I love PHo, its Pho-tastic
The server was very unprofessional. After we finally ordered, our food had hair on it, then soon flies were coming non-stop and one fly in the sauce, then the person I was eating with saw a mouse running around underneath the tables. It just kept getting worse and unfortunately by this point we already ate most of our food. Hope we won t get sick.
Excellent food, excellent service, very nice place. I recommend anytime.
I ordered a large pho special #30. The portion was large. Lots of noodles. There wasnt a lot of meat. The herbs was lacking and so was the flavour. On the bright note they opened early on a Sunday morning.
The best service in terms of being open late, until 5 a.m. I believe that most other restaurants are closed. Ive been here a few times for that reason. Driving from one end to the city is worth it. Service is good. They come to check a couple of times throughout. Your write your own order. The atmosphere is cozy and small, which makes it feel more like a lounge. It can be considered relaxing if by yourself.
I hardly write reviews, but Im sitting here in my apartment feeling powerless from this situation, so this review is the only thing I can do. I ordered food from this place almost 2 hours ago. I chose this restaurant because they had their own delivery, and Id rather support the business than Uber Eats or Skip. Big mistake It made me pay for delivery and a tip up front, and now my order has not arrived for almost 2 hours. I called the store, and they said the driver should come pick it up in 10 minutes. Its already way past the delivery time they gave, and it hasnt even been picked up for delivery. Theres nothing I can do. They have my money and are not offering any sort of refund for this situation. Even if this ends up being the best food Ive ever had, its not worth this. At this point, Im not even convinced this order will show up.
Passable pho and a half-decent atmosphere is about the only praise I can give this place. They have a major issue with cleanliness. The few times Ive been (when preferable places closed earlier) the utensils have been dirty, there was a fly in my pho, a sizable spider lowered itself in front of our faces from a gnarly web on the ceiling, and the bathrooms were among the filthiest Ive used. To make matters worse, the service is brutal. The servers are inattentive and actually kind of snarky if you ask for literally anything beyond your order. Learn from my mistakes - if youre craving pho and every other Vietnamese place in the area is closed, avoid it anyways.
Im addicted to the Banh Mi. If you dont know what that is, please go there and youll know all about it. Not expensive as well is a huge bonus. Service is top notch. Food is so tasty and variety on the menu is great. Theres a reason that King is in the title.
Very well in terms of the order being taken over the phone. It was very convenient for me to do a pickup order and it was still pretty good overall given the dynamics of the industry
Great little pho restaurant. My wife and I found this place in the summer and had amazing Banh MI sandwich and noticed they did soups. We returned in December (we live over 1hr away from Ottawa so only go on certain occasions). Well our soups were amazing. Lots of meat and noodles. Great flavours and friendly staff. This is our go to restaurant for great Pho,Tom yum or other Vietnamese specialty dishes. We cannot wait to return.
Great food! Great services! Nice waiter!
Don t just come here because if it s higher than average rating. The pho is very mediocre and overpriced.
All right but nothing special.
Worst customer service I ve ever experienced, 4 sets of customers waiting , Asian customers come in and was served before the waiting customers. Table was not clean, I don t recommend this restaurant to anyone. Appetite ruined!!!!!!!!!!
Always get awesome customer service. Taste very good and prices are very reasonable. Thank you Pho Bo Ga King team!
Ordered some food, got it super late because they were so understaffed. Finally get my food after 30+ mins. As I m eating I noticed a mouse running underneath the table across from me and behind the counter. I will never come back here again. Horrible experience.
This has been my go-to pho joint in Ottawa for years. Massive variety of southeast asian food and everything is made delicious. Service is quick even with one server and our group of 8. Buy 5 get 1 free banh mi still ongoing. Open quite late (2am), soon to serve alcohol! Bathrooms upstairs.
Experienced the worst service. Restaurant workers are rude and stressed. I have never experienced such terrible service.
Best pho place in Ottawa! Good bubble teas as well. I love that it s open late
The atmosphere was very dumpy and the washrooms were disgusting. When our food came we were shocked at how bad it looked... this was by far the worst viet food I have ever eaten in my life. Save your time and money and eat somewhere else, you have been warned!!
Best Pho place in Ottawa!
Best place in town for a big bowl of pho!! Liked the fact that they close at 1 AM, not like other restaurant near by... Definitely recommend!!
The best ever
Dirty place. Food is mediocre at best.
One of the worst places I have ever been to. The owner asked me to pay before getting my food and when my food arrived it looked disgusting. I could not believe what I ordered. It smelt nasty and to top it off I did not get a refund for my order. Horrible customer service I will not be returning
Worst costumer service and we believe they spat on our food.
Ok use to be a lot better, way overprided by 3-4 dollars over other pho places.. Lower price.
I love to come here. Food is always good and they are open really late. Price is a little bit high but normal for downtown. For take out better call or online to preorder because you gonna wait. I recommend this place that I call home now . Loll
Ordered on Uber .. waste of my money ..the food was genuinely bad. Paid $20 for 3 pieces of shrimp and probably bag worth of boiled noodles. The dish had no flavour .not even salt .tasted super plain.
Worst experience ever , we ordered a plate of chicken spring roles. The waiter came to us and asked if we want any other thing than spring roles and we said no. She asked us to leave the restaurant as people are waiting and they want soup as well, so just because we only ordered one item they threw us out of the restaurant. Never ever go to this restaurant.
Too expensive for M size beef noodle soup .$19.15 for one blow of noddle . terrible
Really good food. So so service. Also an odd pre-pay rule after 10pm. After waiting a bit we ended up bussing and dragging over the other table to fit our group. Our server never took drink orders. Was a little inattentive and the other guy did as much as ours. Would have tipped him instead had we not had to pre-pay. Cups werent washed very well... TV was playing a documentary on mute instead of literally anything else haha... Its nbd, but not 5 star service.
I tried the mango bubble tea and it was not good.
We came here twice this weekend because they open late - food was okay but prices were super high and no service whatsoever
The food isnt bad but the service could better. We only went there cause it stays open late
The waiters were very rude and there was no supervision at all. We used Vietnamese when ordering since we know they SPEAK Vietnamese and they just ignored it and walked away rudely. When we were paying, the server just put the machine HARDLY on the table which was very disrespectful. I will not return here since the customer service quality was poor as well as the food was not very authentic.
Very good Bahn mi and great service iced coffee was great thanks
Very good Vietnamese food. The pork ban mi was delicious- well seasoned meat, the bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I really enjoyed the rice dish with grilled pork, pork strips with skin and roasted rice powder and a fried egg. This is the best Vietnamese food I ve had since I left Minnesota. I wished I had a quart of their iced coffee.
Hits the spot every time
The soup base tastes good and is served quickly. Parking: There is a paid parking space at the door, 3$ per hour
Never again. I ordered the Bún. I knew that $19.50 was a little too expensive but I had a craving and my other go-to viet place was closed. Worst mistake. The pork and chicken tasted exactly the same. It was super rubbery and bland. Barely any veggies and the spring rolls were mostly carrot with a breath of shrimp. I basically paid $25 for a plate of vermicelli. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Horrible quality of food, I dont see the passion.
Used to be go to place for pho but portions have downsized enough where it is way to small for the price :(
Sandwiches came fast and were delicious! The marinated ingredients make quite the difference.
The broth is always good and the menu is varied. The open hours are really good too.
We were a regular customer of pho bo go King but today was our last visit. First there was a hair in our tea, and it was again another hair in my vermicelli. Very disappointed.
With all the choice we have for Vietnamese food in Ottawa, I do not recommend this place. The food was cold, the chicken super dry, the pho has little meat and the bol was dirty. But the worst thing is not the food it was the services, the waiter seems to be angry and not willing to serve/work, when you ask a question he just look at you and make you feel that you are bothering his life even though the restaurent was empty. The others pho bo ga are much better.
Vietnamese sandwich (banhmi) not good .....really blend and price its pretty high. I tried all 4 flavors and was quite disappointed (bread was fresh)
Very good restaurant
Ordered the chicken beef pad Thai last week. Received a huge container filled with noodles and a few strips of beef. Absolutely no veggies or other garnishes, just a container of noodles pretty much. Will never order there again, very disappointing.
I love this restaurant. There is such a big selection to choose from. Its affordable and my favorite is how they do their menus with photos, making it easy to understand and choose. The food is delicious and the service is fast.
Best pho in Ottawa based on my wifes, daughters and my own opinions. Weve visited a lot of pho places in Ottawa and Pho Bo Ga King has the best pho, especially the broth! Also if you order the rare beef, it is actually served rare and cook until tender in the soup. I really like that and this is not easy to find (most serve the beef completely overcooked). The Restaurant is a quiet place with a nice relaxed atmosphere, another big plus in my opinion. I have eaten there often with my wife and daughter, and we all enjoyed our food each time. All of us will definitely keep coming back. My daughter loves the bubble tea and my favorite is the #07 rare beef and tendon pho.
Pho was only ok. Small portions compared to other places. They didnt include lime, basil, or sriracha sauce.
Absolutely delicious! Everything we had was amazing and reasonably priced Vegetarian options: I would have to admit that the vegetarian options arent really well advertised in the menu and you kind of have to do a bit of digging, but there is some vegetable fried rice, some great desserts and a tofu roll that is amazing
Good nothing fancy but delicioso
I ordered the Bun 3, combo ham Bahn mi and iced coffee. The food lacked flavour, pretty bland but good sized portions. The iced coffee was really good. The lady serving me was nice and attentive. Wish I couldve rated this place a little higher.
Service was nice. But the food was almost dangerous to eat. Things didn t smell fresh the meat had a strong smell to it the Spring rolls smelled so strong from stale oil. Spiderwebs on top of our table and on top of the table beside us unacceptable. You cannot leave spiderwebs in the dining room of the restaurant. Clean the your restaurant!! Or stop serving people food just go find another thing you can do.
Pad thai is very different with other pho bo ga ,i prefer other pho bo at the corner near bangkok store.
Love this place, but when did yall start cutting your shrimps in half? Shrimp rice wraps now half cut shrimps.. Not slick fam, not slick.
This place is my favourite in Ottawa, the service is amazing and the food is so delicious. Shoutout to Amigo. Cam on .
Big yikes
Bf and I had Shanghai noodles and chow mein noodles with beef, they were both not very tasty and very oily.
Great Service, food came within 10-15 mins of ordering (around 530-6pm) and was very Delicious. Server was punctual and quick. will go again and recommend if anyone wants to try this place
Ordered on Uber Eats today, and the pho with dumplings arrived completely uncooked don t know how this happened, but definitely won t order from that place.
Very nice family owned restaurant
Best place I ve ate at in Chinatown by far! Highly recommend!
Came here at night. The food is excellent. Bun Bo Hue is perfect. You guys should come here for their Bun and Pho. 10/10 Service is 11/10
Best pho in town!
Not professional, the guy in tge cach is so bad , he talk with customers with bad way , don t go there
Do not recommend. They gave us vegetables that shouldnt be served to anyone. We ordered a couple vermicelli plates, and shrimp rice paper rolls with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce hardly tasted like peanuts and was super runny (this is really a personal preference issue). The shrimp in the rolls tasted a bit fishy, had old lettuce instead of Thai basil, and were mostly vermicelli noodles. Vermicelli had a good sauce. Oddly all the noodles were cut up, making it difficult to eat with chopsticks. Chicken was dry, pork was okay, shrimp was better than the wraps but also just okay. The spring rolls only had carrots inside. Some of the lettuce was brown, and none of the cucumber looked or tasted any good. I will not be returning. 2 stars because most of it (noodles & meat) was at least edible.
