Great food, service was good, busy place but worth the trip

Their kitchen is completely disorganized! Waited for our order for an hour and 20 min, and was still not available. Unfortunately the owner was not apologetic when asked about the wait time. Very disappointing! Not a good customer service!

Advertises at the Bayshore as Come before or after the game. Should read Come before the game, get your food sometime after. Couldnt say how the food was as it never made it out before we had to go. The waitress did warn us after we had been there for some time that the kitchen was backed up but then avoided us (not even a drink refill) until we flagged down what turned out to be the new owner and asked to pay for our drinks and go. We watched the owner say a few words to a waitress (not ours) and then sit down with another table at the back. After another extended wait I sent the rest of the party to get the vehicle and went to find the flustered waitress at the bar, seemingly unsure how to handle the situation, telling us it was her first day there and would need to get the owner. Our waitress did finally swoop in then to tell us we wouldnt need to pay for our drinks (three pops) and apologized for the wait. Overall a very disappointing experience. If you cant get the pre-game clientele out the door in time then maybe rethink advertising at the game. And if you are looking to attract a different kind of customer, perhaps you should actually come up with a new name rather than keep all the same branding?

Had a wonderful dinner out before the Attack game on Saturday. Our waitress was Shirley Anne and she was fantastic!

Food was Great!! Bartender and server Jenne was very helpful and makes Great drinks .she also has the friendliest and nicest personality ever!!

This review is for the new renovated restaurant called Shortys Bar & Grill with Friends In Owen Sound Ontario. First of all this is definitely a new place inside. The freshly done new carpet and paint looks Fabulous. The owners Anne & Steve are totally amazing after meeting them. The fantastic waitresss here are right at your table smiling. If you need anything they are there quickly. All of them are so friendly with a big smile. Which to me makes this place top notch with a lovely atmosphere. In other words so far my review about the restaurant & service here is 100% top notch. Last review the food. I had to try The John Wayne 12oz tenderloin even though it was the most expensive on the menu and I had it done medium rare. There where so many good options on the menu it was so hard to pick something, it all looks good lol. But OMG! the steak was Soooooo perfect with the baked potato & veggies to go with it mmmm so good. Also I had some breaded shrimp extra because I love food lol. Dam it was so good. Lastly even though stuffed with a full belly, I just had to try one of their hear say famous deserts. Oh Yum, yum yummy yum. Holy crap I am in love with this place now!!!! Totally recommend anyone wanting some fantastic food, drink, service and you can not forget the deserts! Seriously you have to try the new Shortys Bar & Grill with Friends, you will not be disappointed. I will be back 100% soon with my FRIENDS lol. A few of us guys from went in for dinner. We sat at the bar. Our food and service was great. We stayed for a few drinks afterwards and the service was very good. We really like coming here

Last night had dinner reservations for 6pm. Good thing the restaurant was full. We were seated right away. Waitress was prompt and polite. Food was excellent and served in reasonable time and hot. At no time did we feel rushed. Second time being at Shortys and second time very please, we will beback.

Food was top notch as usual. The service was atrocious! after decades of being a patron I will never return to this establishment. Amazing food but the experience is ruined but rude and snotty staff. Save your money and patience go to KFC. Way better customer service Kid-friendliness: None!!!! worst service in town by far

The ambiance and vibes are immaculate at this establishment. Kelly makes even sitting down at the bar alone fun. As for the servers, they are all running a tight ship to provide great service every night. You will never see Allison without a smile. Definitely check this place out

We went for dinner with some friends. Allison was our server. She was awesome! The food was fantastic. The Philly cheesesteak was so good, as was the burger, souvlaki on a pita, potato skins and chicken club. Great night!

Best steak Ive had in a while (steak Gatsby). This is essentially a sports bar that does food so bear in mind that it will be a bit noisy. Laid back, cheerful and no frills. Generally a good night out.

Had dinner for 4 last night. Great decor and a friendly, efficient waitress. One entree was cooked overdone. The other 3 meals were prime rib and were at least half gristle. Hoping they ramp things back up to their previous quality.

Got a Philly cheese steak. Hardly any beef on it. 2 inches at either end literally has no meat, no sauce, no nothing. And where there is meat, there s not much .Cost 20$ for half a cheesesteak

We walked out on a whim, fairly late, for dinner, and discovered Shortys. Glad we ended up here because wow, our meals were spectacular. My husband had a ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection, the way he asked for which was med rare, more on the rare end. I had the coconut shrimp which were amazing and a small greek salad with added grilled cut chicken breast. The chicken was amazing too. Definitely one of the best meals out, ever! The staff was also extremely nice!

Unexpectedly found ourselves looking for dinner in Owen Sound. Googled best burger in Owen Sound and came up with Shortys.....they did not disappoint. This was probably one of the best, if not the best, burger I have ever had. A huge thanks to the owner who happened to be in the kitchen that night, and a huge thanks to every staff member we met. I will recommend Shortys to anyone traveling to that area.

Food was delicious!

This used to be my favorite place to go for work dinners/wings with friends. Theyre living entirely on their reputation now. The prime rib special - we asked for well done - came out red and squishy. The wings on the outside of my plate were blessed with the tiny smear of sauce, while the rest were less fortunate, dry and flavorless. The service was very slooooooooow, the food took over an hour to arrive, and we were then rushed to fit into their booking timetable. This restaurant was one of the perks I was looking forward to moving back to the area. Very disappointed.

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. Ordered our dinner at 07:15pm, server kept promising us 5 more minutes, 5 more minutes. We ended up walking out with no food at 08:30pm. The restaurant was not busy, there should be no reason for the slow service. DO NOT RECOMMEND

My friends and I were on a recent motorcycle trip in the Owen Sound area and stopped in at Shortys Grill. Our experience there was great. We were greeted with a friendly smile and seated promptly. Our waitress was amazing. Excellent knowledge of the menu and a great sense of humor that matched our own. The prices were good and the quality of food was excellent. Definitely would go back and recommend Shortys Gill to everyone.

Very dissappointing experience. The first time we went here we were very satisfied and enjoyed everything. Today was not so good - greasy, overcooked meat and raw vegetables! Apparently a new Chef and staff shortage. Hope it improves soon. Would be extremely hesitant to return.

Kirby was very friendly and attentive. She brought out drinks extremely quick and food as well. All the food was excellent. Fish tacos were great.

Unfortunately we had our Chow in the Truck, so we got take out burgers... oh my monstrous..homemade deliciousness, will definitely be back next time Im through Owen Sound. THANK You!

Everyone was so kind here, I appreciate the friendly service. We had 2 Cesars, which arent really my thing but tasted pretty good actually! Had the ribeye steak and double baked potato & some steak sandwich with onion rings. The food was great, decent value, huge portions. I couldnt even finish and I was legitimately hungry. Could have been seasoned more, both the steak and veggies, but I find that with a lot of steak places, gotta cater to the masses. Potatoes were phenomenal though, you have to get it double backed though, there is no other way! Onion rings were nice and crisp. Mushrooms tasted great and again normally not a fan. Straightforward place, house made taziki was next level, you should try it. Good experience, really nice people and I would come back to try other things on the menu because the food was good!

This place was good. Staff were very friendly. Food was decent. Would have given 4 stars if rice was cooked properly. I would eat here again.

Quite honestly, and I am not exaggerating, the best steak I have had in years. Servers awesome and attentive. Great selection of drinks. Try the Greek Fries.

Dinner was great and so was our server. We had our own room for the 12 of us.

Service was not good waited over an hour to order and the quality of food was terrible had fish and chips not worth the money. We got there at 7pm and were last leave. Just waiting and waiting for some service

Incredible menu, great menu, and fantastic atmosphere. My only complaint is that I was charged twice for my meal and never refunded, even after management was made aware. I definitely recommend Shorty s but if there is a glitch when paying with card, check your online accounting before paying again. It s a great meal, but not quite good enough to pay for twice!

Was with a group of 30 last night, and the best part of the night was our waitresses. Allison handled the room like a seasoned pro!! Her attentiveness was above and beyond. Hope shes part of the management team, if not she deserves to be with a huge pay raise...hopefully be back to Owen Sound next year

Good wings. Good burgers. The Philly Steak? That is the best thing on the menu. Probably the Best execution of a sandwich, full stop. Great selection of Draught Beer. Fast service. Really hits the spot. Thanks guys!

Easy to safely social distance while enjoying the atmosphere. Excellent prime rib served with all the fixings. The waitress stood out for her service and outgoing enthusiastic energy. I would go back just for her service, thank you for a fantastic evening.

One of my favs in Owen Sound, always great staff, and the food is amazing, lots of choices for any taste buds, so far only half my way thru trying everything and so far not one dissapointment, they are great Thanks guys and gals.

Felt like a long time between ordering and getting food. Two of the people at the table got fries that were room temperature. Pulled pork poutine was good though.

Food was great and service was amazing! I was a little taken aback by the prices though. I had the black and blue burger(which wasnt large by any means), and I subbed sweet potato fries for regular and only drank water and my bill was over $30 after tip.

Was able to enjoy the atmosphere and food at this establishment this past weekend. They are following all COVID procedures. My advice to anyone visiting on WEEKENDS, make RESERVATIONS. The place is large, spacious and comfortable, but it fills up fast. Food was good, we ordered pub grub, but there are lots of different options on the menu. Service was also good.

Great food...a bit loud for talking. Best to hang with the boys for wings. Date night might be better somewhere quieter? Love shortys and highly recommend!

Visited Shortys with family and will return any time Im in the Owen Sound area. We all loved the food - Ribs, Chicken Stir Fry, Fish & Chips, Village Salad, Pulled Pork Poutine - theyre all recommended. The fries! Order a side of Fries! They are magical. Shout out to Carrie, she kept us very well cared for.

Great restaurant in Owensound, atmosphere is friendly and lively, service is good and food taste good too. The bar is a good place to have a drink and watch sports and there are couple of big tables for families o groups of friends. Free parking, patio, accessible. Make a reservation if possible specially in the weekends. Shortys is following the health guidelines and really make you feel safer knowing everyone else in the restaurant is also following the same guidelines and there is not shortage of clients. Well done, giod place.

Degusting cocktails we were sick all night long, dont go there !

Food was ok. Salad arrived without dressing. Stir fry had a suspicious hard stem in it.......glass of wine delicious ! Server really nice !

The food was excellent. Piping hot and lots of it. They didn t have decaf tea and I was surprised to pay $2 for hot water so I could use my own tea bag. (Of course I would have purchased the tea from them, if they had it)

Went to Shortys for my Birthday with my family. 2 of us ordered the prime rib dinner. It is the special for Friday Saturday night. My daughter had French onion soup as she was not feeling well.I ordered steak and .frittes.The 2 stars is for the server. She was efficient and friendly. As far as the meal not one of us was happy. The 2 prime rib orders were tough and grizzly and tasteless. .My steak was was cooked med rare as I asked however it was tasteless tough and grizzly. My frittes were not frittes at all. Tbey were soggy shoesring fries with absolutely no taste.. We all left with doggie bags and we didnt have a dog so it all went in the garbage. Very disappointing. A 300.00 dollar bill and the best were the martinis i and the calamari I will never go back and I am local. Very disappointing for a 70th Birthday dinner.

Best steaks in town

Updat : so I enjoyed my dining so much there I ended getting a job. Have been there now for almost 3 years and still love the place, people and the service. I hope everyone who dines there now gets as good of service as I did. Thanks Stan and Shortys. Fst: First time at Shortys. Ended up with a server I worked with for years when we were younger and had an amazing dining experience. Even if I didnt know the server the dinner and atmosphere were perfect. Recommend to anyone who hasnt been to Shortys or to any who may have been here over 10 years ago. Great food, flavor, cooked perfectly and Im very picky about my restaurants being a cook for 15 years myself.

No complaints except for the Philly Cheese steak sandwich was the worst Ive ever had. No flavour at all. Just precooked meat that u would find at a Subway or something similar inside a gigantic bun that does not go with this type of sandwich. Just felt like I was eating a loaf of bread for 19$. other than that no complaints.

Very friendly staffs and great foods and drinks. Ordered salad and salmon and loved it and cocktails were amazing. They are very pet friendly... our dog is in love with the staffs :)

If you are anywhere near this place and are looking for some fantastic food, stop here!! Had the peppercorn burger.... cooked to a perfect medium rare. Top ten burger in Ontario!!!! It is a little pricey but Ill buy it again next time I am anywhere near this place!!!!! 10/10 My wife had the chicken ceaser wrap with a side of coleslaw. Beautifully cooked, crispy chicken and fresh ceaser salad! 9/10!! The coleslaw was so creamy and delicious! 5 stars!

Ordered take-out last week while a friend was in town. We both got Rocky burgers and OH MY GOODNESS they were wonderful. Burgers were perfect. Pulled pork had just the right amount of sauce. Would absolutely order again.

Great place for a nice meal, we used the patio outside and the social distancing was followed very well by the staff. Food was amazing, staff was one of the best staffing experiences I have had, always attentive and proactive with requests we had and came back to check on our meals at appropriate times. You can park right across the street where the big P is located (municipal parking)

We had a really nice dinner at Shorty s Grill after a long day of hiking. The staff are really friendly. We appreciated the food and drink options. The wings are really yummy! And so was the guac.

The menu is very rich and the food is tasty. Looks small from outside but it actually has a lot of.tables. I like the shield idea between the tables, this means that they can accommodate more people and still be compliant with this covid-19 thing. We loved it and we definitely can go again when we are there

The Philly steak was awesome, the bruchetta was bend and way too much onion ratio to tomato.

Ok. This is no ordinary restaurant. I got a burger, the California, it came with fries and coleslaw... I took a bite of the burger... I stopped and stared at it, chewing and then raved about it to my wife. She took a bite of her chicken and followed suit with a similar ritual. After listening to her rave about her chicken, I took a bite of the fries and burst into another episode of raving to her and she consequently reached over and tried the same fries, my fries, the ones I raved about already, then raved about my fries back to me. We followed all this by tasting everything else and raving about everything else in its turn. Everything was good. Everything. Were going back as often as were make a trip up to Bruce Peninsula. Go. Just do it. Its good. Its real food. Not junk. Its really good. I know, I know, Im raving. But its really good. Go try it, and see if you dont rave. You dont want pho, you dont want Thai. This.

Good food excellent service from the staff strongly recommend. Oh one more thing please avoid that god awful ten street diner across The street they are absolutely horrible extremely bad food and they incredibly rude To new customers. Shorty s is a great restaurant compared to ten street diner.

A little more expensive, but good pub food

FANTASTIC BEEFS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. I drove through Owen Sound this weekend and we decided to stop by for lunch, I ve never been before and I was absolutely blown away. I was served the best burger I ve had in years. Shorty s should be called Hogwarts, there s a wizard in the kitchen.

Liver and onions was very good but the coconut cream pie was amazing.

Wonderful Food and Service We were here on a Tuesday, very busy. Staff were excellent, friendly and always came back multiple times to check on us and how everything was going. Best service I have had in a long time. I ordered the Delmonico steak, it was perfectly done, and super tender. Taste was excellent, best restaurant steak I have literally had in years! THANK YOU!!

Shortys was our dinner location for our young girls hockey team and the staff looked after them so well and the food was great.

I had steak here, medium rare, and it was perfect. So were the fries and coleslaw that came with. It was definitely one of the better steaks I had. The other thing that really stands out for me was having one of the best waitresses Ive ever experienced. The service was excellent.
