1198 1st Ave E, Owen Sound, ON N4K 2E2, Canada
We are a Brewery and Restaurant located on the harbour in Owen Sound. We focus on local ingredients and making everything in house
8 choices of locally brewed beers. We ordered all 8 for tasting and really liked 5 of them. Nice ambiance. It was mid October so decor theme obviously was Halloween. Friendly staff providing great service. Place is not too big but feels cozy. Food is good for sure.
Enjoyed the Moroccan wheat beer and imperial stout- both delicious. Was treated with great service at the bar, and enjoyed the beautiful harbourfront location. Definitely recommend!
Great service and the beer and food was solid. They order local fresh ingredients and smoke their meats. I had the smoked chicken sandwich and it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. Their salads are hardy too. Coffee stout was great and so was the rhubarb sour. Our server was friendly and clearly cared about the quality of their food and beer, and that we enjoyed our time there. The lawn games they have set up off the patio were fun to play too. The inside of the bar had a cool ambience too as they kept many features of the old train station.
We had the Ceasars, the Smoked chicken sandwich, Summer Cobb salad and Grilled Korean Ribs which was all delicious and I’m looking forward to when we go back!! Mmmmmmm.
It was a last minute decision to make a trip to this brewery as we were staying in Owen Sound. The beer and food did not disappoint. Food- the pasta and wings were good. Especially the buffalo sauce- we took it on the side. Service - Our server was really nice and warm. My throat was a little scratchy and was quick to offer a couple a warm drinks. Decor - was also very characteristic to town history. Brownie point - buffalo sauce and waterfront location
Came here on a recent trip and was able to sit outside on the lovely patio. Our server was friendly and right away informed us there would be a bit of a delay for food as the kitchen was backed up. We didn't mind waiting while relaxing outside and sampling a few beers from the tasting flight, which were all good. The menu is small, but everything looked tempting, and I was super happy with my smoked pork sandwich. My partner wished the chicken and waffles had a bit less sauce, but the flavor was good, and he enjoyed it. Next time we are in town, we'll be sure to come back.
This is an amazing Brewery and Restaurant experience, a must do! We discovered this fun spot in August 2022 with friends for lunch along the beautiful River in Owen Sound. VERY friendly and knowledgeable staff that knew their lunch menu and beer selections well. Their beer was simply excellent on a hot day! We enjoyed the sour rhubarb beer (middle beer in the picture below). Their smoked chicken sandwich and their homemade fries were just so tasty! The best pub fries we can say we have ever had, large wedge cuts and with a crispy coating! They smoke their meats on location and the brisket was so tender. The corn bread is a great appetizer too. They offer vegan friendly lunch options too. Excellent lunch from start to finish, so great that we made another repeat lunch the next day together! Thanks again everyone for our outstanding brewery restaurant experience, we left stuffed! Look forward to seeing you again the next time we are in Owen Sound!
Dined here while staying overnight en route to Tobermory. The service was great, thanks, Emily. The burger was juicy. I had a salad with it. The fried chicken was delicious. Yes, my little dog had a few small bites too (we were out in the patio). And the beer was fresh. Too bad we can only sample two. Next time when I come back...
Midtown burger was delicious
Were there this past sunday prior to going to the festival of lights. Both the meal and festival of lights were disappointing. The service was good the beer was good the grazing board was ok and my wifes meal was ok. My schnitzel was so salty it was unedible. They did try again and i was warned that it may be the breading. The second one was just as bad. I removed the breading and one could eat the meat. They did offer to make something else but i declined. They did reduce the cost of the schnitzel by 50%. We drove 2 hours each way to have a poor meal and view a disappointing light display. Would i try it again? Maybe if in the area. Would i recommend it? No
Nice craft brews! Nice location near the waters edge! Cheers!
Great atmosphere and beer... lovely patio.
Great quality of food! Best Caesar Salad ever!!!! Mmm and that cornbread!
8 visits, 5 stars every time. An elevated experience from linen to the craft beer to the rail station setting. Vegetarian options are great but my meatetarian friends and family love the chefs skills. A wonderful spot by the water, with smaller (and quieter) rooms, plus a patio if you (like us) prefer quieter spaces.
Best food and drink I have had in owensound been here since 2018
It was my first time at Mudtown Station, but it is definitely not my last. Wait staff are friendly, curteous, and efficient. The food is amazing. I had the lamb burger, which was very flavourful and presented beautifully. A nice larger cometed this wonderful meal.
Went for lunch with friends and ordered the charcuterie board(Although on the menu it Is called a grazing board). $25 for a half board $39 for a full board which we had and it was truly awful. Everything was swimming in water I assume from the pickled vegetables or something that had been frozen. It was cheap salami, a small amount of prosciutto, pickled vegetables, including beets. And then some regular bread toasted. I ve had the same board at Mudtown in the past and enjoyed it as it included a pate and a variety of. some really nice Salami. If what I had yesterday is the best they can do. It should come off of the menu.
Amazing food and people. They know what customers service means and they care about people. It s a place to spend lovely and peaceful time.
Awesome food for my first time eating at Mudtown
Really incredible food, super kind staff and they were very accommodating of my allergy. The carrot & ginger ale was fantastic! We will be back!
An excellent pub in Owen Sound. Great service and tasty food. Plus, the beer is alway cold. There is on-site parking and a nice view of the waterfront from the patio. Recommended.
Very nice dog-friendly patio (with a very good, enclosed dog run next door). Great food, and cheerful, efficient staff.
Excellent service, nice beer selection, good food!
We stumbled upon this place shortly after we arrived in town. Delicious food and great service from Elsie. A great find!
Food is aweful
Fantastic beer and food, love having a place like this nearby. The staff are fun and provide excellent service. Easy to recommend stopping by.
Love going to Mudtown every time Im in Owen Sound! Had the rib and wing combo last time, the gochujang sauce on Korean short ribs was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The beer menu is always on point, and I particularly enjoy all of the local history in the old train station: the old temperance movement posters on the walls are a funny touch.
Took our order, made us wait 20 minutes, and denied service to one of four people (brought the drinks to the other 3 though). If youre not going to serve someone, please let the group know.
Been to the station a few times and love it. Great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff and wide variety of unique beer and alcohol selections. The station is vegan friendly and staff is able to recommend options to make standard menu items vegan if needed. Cannot recommend Mudtown Station enough! Great for hosting events too!
Awesome food, great atmosphere and exceptional service. Michael was our server and made sure we were well taken care of. Love that it is a dog friendly spot
It took 50 minutes for appetizers and 1:20 for mains to come out. The server was quite young and didn t know how to handle the delayed food so avoided us. Burger came out and it was quite uncooked. All in all a disappointing experience. It was a 2 rating and not 1 because the manager sorted things out on our bill.
Lovely service and really solid food. The menu was interesting, very tasty, and affordable. Definitely worth a stop if you re in town!
Great food, great drinks cant go wrong!
Fabulous beverages, scrumptious food and great patio with a view. Service was attentive. Lovely shade. Patio is pup friendly.
Delicious beer and food! My buddy Nate was quite impressed how Emily handled our table!
Food was good quality. Beer choices limited and no options if you like lagers. Waitress ok but tried to limit our beer consumption in spite of our assurances we were also eating and were not driving. Manager couldn t deal with issue when we complained. Follow up call with owner unsatisfactory.
Great environment and food, good beer, appalling service. After our meal and sampling a few different beers (its a brew pub, after all) server kept asking us if we were finished. We were not. We werent driving, it was Saturday night, and we were in town on an annual golf weekend. Ultimately, she cut us off with no explanation. Manager failed to address the situation. Phone call with the owner the next day fell on deaf ears. We were left feeling insulted and offended. Owen Sound needs business and tourism. Not wise to treat repeat visitors this way. I would not recommend Mudtown Station.
Really great food and interesting beers. We were particularly impressed with the lamb burger and the excellent fries. Staff was also very friendly. This brewery is also in a very cool location--it is great to sit on the patio and look at the sound.
Stopped by on our way through from Tobermory. We were a group of 8 including 4 kids. Everything was delicious, especially the Korean BBQ ribs. Super cute setting and great beer.
Did not have a good experience. We waited almost an hour for our food and ended up walking out. It was not busy at all. We ordered the caeser salad and poutine. No one came over to apologize for the delay or anything
I had heard alot of positive things about the restaurant for the last couple years but just went for the first time last night. We got a flight of beers to do some tasting. My favourite was the Carrot Ginger my husbands was the Coffee Stout. I got the Korean short ribs which came with coleslaw with a side of fries (extra cost). The fries were a literal bucket of fries so a huge portion. The ribs and fries were delicious. My husband got the burger which came with fries and he very much enjoyed it. The service was friendly and fast. The best thing about this place is the unique space. An old train station thats been divided into different spaces, each space has its own vibe. We sat in the bar area and absolutely loved it. I regret not taking any photos but I highly recommend checking it out. They also have cool merch for sale.
Drove from Toronto area to Owen Sound to visit a high-school friend and wanted an interesting place to eat. My friends suggestion was the Mudtown Station. We had a flight of 4 beers - Blond, Brown, Ginger, and Seabuckthorn - and they were all good and interesting. Between us we had the burgers - one with a Gluten free bun, and one of us had the grilled chicken sandwich. All the food was good and tasty and overall a good experience. Mike was our server. He had a very down to earth and real personality and was attentive to our needs. Overall great experience and definitely would go there again on our next visit to Owen Sound.
Wonderful potato, nice server, great salads and amazing fries.
They were out of wings. So my wife got the rib platter, both corn ribs and Korean short ribs. The corn ribs were odd, kind of a toned down Mexican street corn. The Korean short ribs were way underdone (medium rare) which made them difficult to cut with a knife and even harder to chew. Her side salad was way overdressed; first bite was all vinegar. I had the Southern smoked poutine. It was passable, had a hint of smoke and totally lacked any seasoning. But the brown ale was good.
Great burger! They also have a selection of local brews which I love to taste test and the Piston Pale ale did not disappoint!
Lovely find in the heart of Owen Sound harbor area. Great food and beer AND a wonderful patio where our dog was permitted. Very enjoyable!
It was very busy, but the girls kept hustling. Food is decent and a good beer selection.
Disappointed, limited menu ,party of 6 .Not good menu options they were out of a few items from the menu . Just an all around not great experience, wont rush back !
Great lunch, service was excellent. I had a bowl of tomato soup and my wife had a grilled chicken sandwich. It was all very good.
This place is absolutely incredible! We came for a late lunch and got the corn bread with chili infused honey, pulled pork sandwich and southern chicken poutine.. everything was mind blowing! I m not a fan of pulled pork sandwiches, most of the time they have too much sauce or they re too bbq or just too squishy this pulled pork sandwich.. oh my word! Best sandwich you ll ever eat! It was by far the best we ve ever tried! So beautifully balanced! Aside from the food this place is so rich with history and is set in the old train station! 1000% recommend
Party of 7 had a disappointing experience for Mothers Day at our first time coming here. To start the menu is only offered on QR codes which is not liked but do-able. After perusing the menu for 20min and deciding what to order, we were only informed at the time of ordering they were all out of muscles which two of us were going to order. I ordered the Southern Smoked Chicken Poutine which had gravy that tasted liked Dish Soap/Perfume! I thought it was the fork at first and after switching forks realized it was the gravy! Two others also ordered a side of gravy and confirmed that was the issue. The poutine and gravy were not edible. They replaced my poutine with a burger, which came out after everyone else was done their food and the compensation was to charge me the poutine price for the burger, saving me $4. The server was very kind and accommodating though! Extremely disappointing first (and likely only) experience, especially after hearing the good reputation it had.
Really tasty food and a good beer selection, the juniper RIPA is really good!
Dont go here we made reservations and they never wrote it down... went to Montanas instead Glad we did...staff just a bunch of children not mature..kinda coincides with the place thats why we Left.
Needs a few tweaks. Called to make a reservation and they had no idea when we showed up. Thankfully we got in. It wasn t busy. Food looked fantastic however, their charcuterie board needs a make over. Quite a few inedible items on it and the crisps are so hard you make quite a mess eating them. Bread or softer items would be better. More sweet than all spicy. Atmosphere is good. Server was great.
Did takeout, they forgot to give me the sides! So all I got was the meat and nothing else. Now I m hungry.
Had dinner and drinks with friends from outta province. What a great experience. We had such fun, the atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious, and the choice of beers to try was fantastic! Our server was really nice and knowledgeable about everything. Will definitely be back.
Lamb burger and sour on tap was delicious for lunch. Our server was new but he went above and beyond to answer all questions we had and had everything we needed. Great atmosphere and service. Strongly recommend!
I am severely allergic to eggs. Other than one vegan option of hummus & falafels, there was nothing on the menu I could order. Even their buns have eggs in them. They really should have a much more diverse, allergy friendly menu. The cleanliness of our table was also not what one would expect in any restaurant. We left the restaurant without eating.
Service was really good. The food was not good. Raw pork and under cooked fries. The price was ridiculous for what we got. Very small portions. We wont be back.
One of the best restaurants in Owen Sound
Absolutely love this place! Kudos to the chefs for the outstanding cuisine. Ordered the Garden Greens & Mudtown burger - the flavours and presentation was next level. Highly recommend trying the Lemongrass Saison, smooth & delicious! Shoutout to the staff for their friendly hospitality.
Great food and beer. They changed chefs a while back and now seem to have found their groove again. Dishes have changed nearly every time, but for the better recently. Nice atmosphere and historical decorations and location. A wonderful place to bring visitors to Owen Sound to discover the history of the town over a good mealm
Gross food and terrible service. Avoid
Mudtown is one of those great brewpubs that Ill go out of my way to visit. Wish I lived closer, but the rotating drink menu and the regularly updated and refreshed food menu are always worth a stop.
Cool building, great food, good beer, and pleasant staff!
I have been here a few times before and the food and atmosphere was excellent. Feels like something has changed ! ? Strange assortment of food options . Not loving this menu :( Beer selection remains good .
Mudtown was recommended by our hosts at the B and B where we stayed and we werent disappointed. Reservations were recommended as well and its a good thing because the restaurant was packed. We started off with the cornbread which was delicious and ordered the Duck Confit and Trout. Both meals were excellent and the portions were big. Great place to eat.
First time here after moving to the area. We finished every bite of our meals (two kids included)! The handmade pasta was amazing, and even the burger was one of the best we ve tried (and my husband orders a burger EVERYwhere). Highly recommend!
What a fun experience, one of the best Hamburg I have had. That on top of a bowl of the potato leek soup. My wifes lunch was also great.
Food was decent. The salad was very basic and I wasnt fond of the vinaigrette. The chicken sandwich I ordered was quite good albeit a very small portion for a rather high price. I asked for a pairing of beer with my meal and obviously its a bit of personal preference but my beer did not go well with my meal at all. The server was elvery polite and seemed to do her best, she did however have to apologize after forgetting to send our order in. Staff: 4/5 Food 3/5 Price / Value 2/5 Would try again, but would not recommend it as of right now.
Great beer, super friendly staff. Overall a great time
We went to Mudtown for Valentines Day this year and were able to enjoy the special menu that included 4 courses for $75.00 which in our opinion was a fair price. This was our second year celebrating valentines day here and the food is just absolutely spectacular. I believe this style of menu is where Mudtown shines, as I have been here for regular meals, and although good, this was on another level. There were multiple choices for each course (including a vegetarian option) and everything we tried was so delicious and well thought out. You can tell that there is so much thought put into each plate, the flavour combinations are unique, its clear the ingredients are quality, and many of the options were experimental in the best way. Especially enjoyed the Short Ribs and Pork Belly Lollipops. We were able to try a few of the beers while there and the Sumac Saison was a stand out. This place is truly on another level in comparison to other dining options in the area. Would highly recommend.
Awesome burger, ton of flavor! Russian sauce was great! Great sour beer as well!
Food was excellent,
Great atmosphere, delicious variety of beers from their brewery and live music after 9pm on Friday.
Mudtown never fails to deliver an amazing dining experience, with a menu based on seasonal, local ingredients, thoughtfully made, and rotated regularly. It s truly a shining gem in Owen Sound.
Great atmosphere. The serving staff attentive. The brew and food delicious.
If I could give this place more stars I would. My girlfriend and I were rambling around owen sound looking for a place for a date night. We decided on mudtown station as we hadnt tried it. Our server was more than accommodating, super friendly and knew the menu like the back of his hand. We ordered the cornbread to start. Let me tell you baby birds. Unreal. Probably the best cornbread Ive ever had. Afterwards I ordered the catch of the day, and my girlfriend ordered the soup of the day and a salad. They were all incredible. The trout was perfect, the vegetables were amazing with carrots and Swiss chard and potatoes with a nice glaze on it. Im being completely honest when I say Ive never in my life had a meal that fantastic at a restaurant before. The chef definitely knows what shes doing! We cant wait to come back!! Thank you so much for a wonderful dinner!
Great spot on the water which offers unique beers and decent pub food.
Has become my new favourite restaurant! Exceptional staff service, food was amazing. If I could take a block of their seasonal butter home, I would. On top of it all, what a unique historic building. We enjoyed looking at all the posters, blueprints and the original phone booth.
Id rather eat at McDonalds.
Top notch food and staff
Very very very very slow service. Restaurant would not survive in Toronto.
Good food and nice place to check out by the water in Owen Sound. We enjoyed our meals and liked looking around the restaurant. I had the smoked pork belly sandwich which was delicious and my sister had the black bean and halloumi wrap which she said was amazing! The only shared complaint we had at our table were the cottage fries. Some were large and seemed not throughly cooked while others were kind of dry and over-crispy. I also upgraded to the Cottage Fry Supreme, which was trying to be a fancy version of a poutine in my opinion - I would have preferred a poutine from a fry truck to be honest. Still good but not the best. Service was good and the server was good at helping us decide what to order.
The food was banging!! A group of 9 girls went for a bachelorette getaway (and we noticed that there were a few other bachelorette groups there too). We all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our food! I had the daily soup (seafood soup with shrimp and lobster) and order of fries. The fries were closer to wedges though hahaha
Always excellent. New wheat beer is wonderful. Light, fruity great hint of hibiscus and pepper
Stopped by the brewery on a bit of a road trip. The building and theme is really neat and they did a great job to preserve much of the train station. The beers were great, with a few out there choices which were great. The food was also excellent. I d highly recommend stopping by for a flight and a meal!
What a gem of a brewery! The beers were all great, and the food was exceptional!! we appreciated that they had excellent beers that were very unique (without just being really hoppy like many breweries). The atmosphere is really neat as it is in an old train station! This is a must visit place for a meal and beer while in town!
Excellent food and pretty good beer! The scallops are to die for with heavenly Chimichuri, chorizo and tasty purée. The attention to detail is % there, we loved the food so much that we came back on the road back from our road trip! The pork belly sandwich is delicious and the hummus and falafel are delectable! We tasted a few beers and the one that stood out was the Sumac Saison, nice and refreshing. Sunny patio at noon with water nearby was also lovely!
I recently visited Mudtown Station Brewery and Restaurant, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The brewery has a great selection of craft beers, each one bursting with flavor. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with delicious options to satisfy every palate. The ambiance of the place is cozy and inviting, with a rustic charm that adds to the overall experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring that our visit was enjoyable from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed their signature dishes, which were prepared with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The flavors were exceptional and left me wanting to come back for more. Mudtown Station is not just a brewery and restaurant; its a gathering place where friends can come together, enjoy good food and great beer. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Excellent experience on the patio today. Burger was great as always. Girlfriend got the Chicken Cacio pasta, which she loved. Ceasar was delicious. Staff was great.
The food was very tasty and nicely arranged; staff was extremely friendly and responsive; there was a good atmosphere at the terrace next to the Owen Sound in early June 2023
Mind-blowingly bad service, but food is good if you can hack it. Wait staff seem to enjoy insulting and bringing discomfort to patrons. An odd business strategy it would seem.
I would give this place a 4.5. The service is excellent. The Mudtown Burger was absolutely delicious! From start to finish, even the bun was tasty. The on site brewery is also amazing. I had the Lily Dipper Ale, which is the perfect beer for a sunny day. Very refreshing and clean finish. The brew master definitely knows what she is doing. If it was for sale in local stores, it would be my go to beer. The only fault that I would give them would be the patio. It was a little less than immaculate. I would also invest in nicer chairs and tables. They have an excellent space and it is a shame they are not utilizing the space as best as they could. Do not get me wrong, it wasnt terrible, it could have just been a little better kept. Maybe, wiping down the chairs and tables a bit more often. However, anyone who is travelling to Owen Sound, should definitely do themselves a favor and eat here. I will definitely be going again.
Excellent beer, excellent food (pork butt burger is good for 2 people) and excellent service!
Great food and atmosphere. Beautiful building - the owners kept a lot of the original features
Great food, service and ambiance. The pork sandwich was so good
Thank you so much for the great dinner. Very friendly place. Maybe not too fancy, however with delightful food and great choice of beer
Food was delicious. Service was amazing, we were served by Avery and his service was great, he was very pleasant and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Highly recommended. We ordered appetiser and mains , everything was really great.
Bright, fun, brew pub with tasty (and healthy!) food options. Great service from Phoebe, a nice range of beers - something for everyone. Wish I could remember the name of today s feature desert - something baked with a bit of banana & ice cream - smashing.
Delicious food and a wholesome atmosphere!
Definitely not family-friendly! The staff were rude to us. We brought my mother there for her 80th birthday. When she was finally able to pull up the menu with her phone, the breakfast menu automatically appeared and the server admonished her for looking at the breakfast menu at dinner time. When my husband inquired if he could order from the lunch menu, she sternly said, No! We had our teenage children with us who arent in the habit of carrying phones with them (thank goodness!), so they werent able to look at the menu until someone was able to lend them their phone (they had no physical copies of the menu). On top of that, there were no teen-friendly options on the menu. In general, we were made to feel very unwelcome so we accommodated them by leaving before we ordered anything.
If you are in to local craft beer and good food, then you NEED to try Mudtown Station Brewery and Restaurant. You absolutely MUST try the cornbread. It is the best cornbread my partner and I have ever tried. Partner and I also had the black bean and halloumi wrap, and the pork butt sandwich. Both fantastic! Definitely recommend trying a flight and the white IPA. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Owen Sound.
Great food and service. Beautiful patio!
90% convinced the gravy is canned dog food
This is a pretty great little brewpub in Owen Sound. The food is the highlight, with a great selection of Canadian items that have a twist (such as poutine with oxtail gravy). I had the halloumi and black bean wrap with Caesar on the side, and it was really good. 2 lunches and 2 pints came to around $60, so not necessarily a regular outing as it s on the higher side, but a lot of effort goes into this menu and the beer s not bad either.
Passing through heading back to Edmonton, ab and discovered this little local treasure....delicious, great spirits and good service.
Had the mudtown burger, it was excellent
This is one of the nastiest places Ive ever eaten at in my entire life. I appreciate the history of the building but if you are going to turn it into a restaurant, you have to maintain certain things. There is a very funky smell throughout the place. And now the food. How this place is getting five stars boggles the mind. Maybe what I chose was the only bad thing on the menu or maybe some people have zero clue about good food. I got jerk chicken and waffles. No jerk seasoning. Just some disgusting beige gravy slathered all over soggy waffles. The gravy was DISGUSTING. Not fit for human consumption.
Went here while visiting the area. Pretty neat place. The hibiscus margarita was delicious, as well as the oxtail pouting. Took a while to get our mains. When they did come, they were delicious. Lots of flies flying around the table which were quite bothersome.
Great beer! Good food!
We had a really nice dinner here a couple days ago. Cool atmosphere, obscure location, interesting selection of food and beer. I love seeing classic buildings restored into a new businesses. Had the mussels and poutine.. good times!! I asked to take home the jus made pasta out of it! One thing. Asked to angle the umbrella and the poor server said they re not allowed? I understand if there is a high wind you don t want to create a sail but we just wanted some cover from the sun. Other than that, excellent experience, go for a pinte or a bite. Highly recommended if passing through Owen Sound!
The location is beautiful, the staff and service was great. The only complaint was the meals we ordered were WAY TO salty.
Great atmosphere and excellent food.
Very spacious patio, dog friendly which is a huge plus. Service was a bit slow (food took almost 45 minutes to come out), but the server was very friendly and professional. Food was pretty good, good quality beers as well. Price was on par with other restaurants and on the average side. Would go back for sure.
Excellent experience and great variety of foods. Just need to handle the bugs! Got eaten alive by mosquitoes at night and got bombarded by flies in the afternoon. A few strategically placed fly catchers and repellent flames could absolutely increase the dining experience.
Awesome food, beer and patio. Got the jerk chicken and waffles with a Lilly dipper beer and an oatmeal stout. Everything was great. Definitely recommend, if in Owen Sound.
Dog friendly patio. The tables are well spaced apart and there is a lovely view. I can recommend the scallops (although perhaps a small serving for the price) and especially the house made fettuccine. It is a hearty meal and very yummy.
Great food, Ezra took good care of us.
food was wonderful. my server reilly was very helpful and friendly.
Everything is so tasty ! Loved the food , the ambiance of the place and delicious beers as well.
This was by far our best dinner since our short trip through the USA & Canada. We had the duck and the homemade fettucine. Both very tasty.
Small town specialties, special beer recommendations
Wonderful old converted CP Railway station with original art deco fittings. They brew their own beer and the food is great. Beautiful setting on the river - the outdoor patio is delightful. Flights of beer recommended as is the cornbread app.
We were in town on a road trip and found this place. Very nice patio with sunset view, great vibe, good beer and a very tasty menu!
Really enjoyed the patio and the beer was excellent. Try a flight and see whats on offer. Nice having some different options in the area. *Updated* the burger is really, really good!! **Update #2** Continue to recommend Mudtown, food and beer and service are great!
A great find! The quality really shows in the food, a delicious meal and excellent service!
One of the nicest patios in Owen sound as it s quiet with a view of the water :) Yummy beer and lots to choose from ! Menu is selective but a bit pricey :( Ordered soup for the second and last time but way too salty both times and I LOVE salt ! No crackers or tiny piece of bread on the side for 9.00 plus serving is really small so again over priced ... Hubs loves the chicken waffle it s his go to . Fries are good as well as service ! Will always return :)
Food was fresh, of good quality. Building is old CP railway station. Sat on nice outdoor patio.
Absolutely a fantastic place to eat and drink with wonderful wait staff, Ill definitely be back. Great craft beer brewed in house, Id highly recommend the dry hopped Saison. Came back from my visit to Tobermory just for this beer. The ribeye steak was absolutely steller with the pommes Anna, ragout and fresh veg complementing it perfectly. You need to have this if you appreciate a fancy steak meal.
The food was awesome, the light beer was very enjoyable and the service was the best we have had!!! Well done Mudtown!!!
Ive been here twice and both times its been a great experience. The beer and food is fantastic. The service was very polite, prompt and respectful. I will be going back.
Overhearing the cooks making fun of customers in the kitchen isnt exactly professional behaviour. Then the waitress covered for them and offered no apology. Its a shame, I came here weekly in the summer and hosted parties here for work and family. Will not be returning and will be mentioning it to friends.
Decent food but disastrous service.... 1 hour wait for a burger!
Whoever makes the burger has figured out the burger algorithm. Best burger I ve ever had Update 02Nov/23 - Had the burger again and only reason I remember it is because of how boring and plain it was. Definitely wasn t made by same person as last time. It was bad second time around. Wife had the poutine and it was just swimming in gravy and just small sprinkle of curds. Being a trained culinary chef, I can almost guarantee it was made by someone who smokes cigarettes. That or they just don t understand seasoning proportions. Heavily doused in black pepper and salt. A burger, poutine and 1 small beer and a Caesar cost $85 with 15% tip. Insanely expensive. Probably won t go back anymore at those price points and menu inconsistency. Updated star rating accordingly.
Servers are absolutely wonderful, friendly as well as helpful. The food is cooked to perfection, certainly worth the price. And to top it all off, the view is spectacular when dining outside.
Great beer, great food, great service. Very good Halloween decorations when we were there. Would recommend.
Unique menu and cool ambiance. Loved the history behind the building! Our server was kind and provided great recommendations on the lunch menu. This is a place that is worth checking out if you re in the area.
Very enjoyable lunch! Trout bruschetta with pickled veggies.... Delicious! Followed by a burger with large Patty and sauteed Onions..... Delicious! . The best potatoes wedges Ive ever had. I will definitely be back many times!
Variety of craft beers and best burgers!!!
Great space, great service, great food and great company to enjoy it all with.
Gorgeous, unique space, friendly vibe, and some of the best food in town. Great beer too, classic styles.
Not only is it a picturesque (they revamped a defunct train station)-- the food is unbelievably good and creative. Cudos to the chef! And the staff were welcoming and served up A+ service.
A phenomenal assortment of craft beer accompanied a very inventive meal. Nice!
Always the perfect char..
Went late by closing time .Suggested to have a burger had the mudtown burger .Super juicy and tasty burger . All the staff had smile and such a great experience .Will definitely go back .
Food was fantastic. Service was attentive but not hovery. Overall a great lunch.
Such a lovely place to eat! Food was fresh and delicious as ever. Wait times weren t long at all and totally worth it! Loved every minute of our dinner here. Thanks again Mudtown ! Will be back again and again!
Great patio! I had a rhubarb sour beer when I visited last, and I havent stopped thinking about it. Lol it was really good, and I really hope I could figure out who brewed it, and where I could buy it. Im not from the area but please let me know if you know the name of the brewery. It was back in 2019.
Cool restaurant. Great service and food.
Amazing selection of craft beers. You can even take some home if you don t have time to try them all! Their charcuterie board is definitely a must. Best porc chop I ve ever had.
Brisket was great!
Nice place. Great beer! Food very good! Excellent patio, dogs welcome.
Good sized charcuterie board with excellent cheeses and meats as well a wide range of pickles. Had the porter, did not disappoint. The beet beer is different for sure, give it a try.
Great brews and delicious food The beet brew was tasty and such a vibrant color Perfect location
Great place! Tons of lovely historical details inside. Beer was good and loved the presentation of the flight. The falafel was truly incredible. We also had the caesar salad and corn bread. Both delicious.
Food was amazing! The chicken club -- wow!! Skip the sangria but the rum punch was VERY good! Highly recommend!
Probably THE best comfort food I have had this side of the border. The Chefs didnt miss a beat. Every component of the chicken and brisket meals was exquisitely prepared. Apps were made with care and the corn bread cruton in my Caesar was a great touch. The place was rammed and we waited a bit but the wait was worth it. Bigtime. Staff was very friendly. Bar has a great selection of craft beers and ciders. We will be back 100%
Very cute bar area, beer is fresh and tasty. Try the spicy beet ale! Portions are generous so suggest you show up hungry.
Reasonably priced brews but the menu star for me was the platter of brisket, baked beans, cornbread and kale. Best brisket Ive had...moist, tender and very tasty. Also had their poutine...... excellent!
Awesome food and drinks great service and great prices you cant go wrong
A friend is as a regular who urged that I and a another friend come up for lunch. The building is great the old telephone both is something to see. If you love great beer and outstanding food also great service you have to try this place.
Great patio dining. Bring your dog. Must try the local gin.
Gose and the beet ale. Both delicious.
Awesome beer, food and staff! Our family is completely in love with the hummus, brisket and burger! Good stuff Mudtown!
Good food, beer and well priced. Staff was great as well.
Super creative Menu, best restaurant in a 200km radius!!!
Went to Mudtown Station for my Birthday supper. Falafel plate and Cottage Fries..and Gose sour beer...hit the spot! Food looked pleasing and tasted so yummy. Plated nicely and service was attentive! Watched a small schooner type vessel launch into the bay just outside our window! Always good services and wonderful surroundings..of authentic CPR memorabilia .
Great service but my chicken was raw. Raw. Disgusting. I had to spit it out into my napkin. Horrid. I can t believe they can even serve that?
Great selection of beer with a really nice patio area to enjoy it. Staff is also very friendly.
A different house made beer for whatever the taste and many other drink options including some very interesting cocktails. Great service and food!
I can say only good things about this place and our waiter Sam. We got seated in patio and atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing. I ordered beer tasting flight and their home brewed beer is worth trying. I got seared rainbow trout, and my wife tried burger with fries. Both were super delicious. At the end I even got some bottled in house brewed beer for my friends. Overall, don t miss having great time in Mudtown Station Brewery.
The place is really cute. Love that old train station. The drinks might be one of the best ceasar i have had. But! The food.. No thank you! It s like a pretend chef who thinks they know how to blend flavours but nope! Had rainbow trout it came with spicey steamed kale and on top of the kale cooked cut up bland tomatoes and black beans on top. Black beans have no business with rainbow trout! And why cooked cut up tomatoes with no flavour? The flavours didn t blend or go together.
Excellent food and nice selection of seasonal beers.
Waited a short while to be seated. All good. But then no paper menu and were sitting outside and cant read due to sun glaring on our table. So we asked for regular menu and nonchalantly, the server said nope, we dont do that and she walked away. So we got up and left. I was kinda hoping for a good experience as we have people from overseas visiting. Too bad.
What an awesome place! Good location, excellent service and delicious food. My friends and I dine-in here twice, both on our way to Tobermory and back Toronto. Lots of choices of house brewing beers, if you cant make up your mind, samplers is good choice. We ordered charcuterie(half, huge portion), house smoked brisket (we LOVED the cornbread), trout fish, cauliflower, Mudtown Burger. Only bummer we had no room for dessert.
Best food hands down
Went for lunch with my daughter. Food was wonderful. Nicely prepared and delicious. Service, however, was very lacking. The servers spent a lot of time over by the bar chatting. We were never asked how our meal was or if we wanted another beverage, and then had to stare down our server to get our bill. Our server should probably choose something else to wear to work as her spotted yoga pants were totally inappropriate and she seemed rather bored to be there. Would come back for the food but hopefully the service improves.
Delicious discovery. Impeccable food, service and beer tasting.
We had a really nice time. Food was great and our server Bronwyn was AMAZING
Our visit with the mudtown was ok. we waited an incredible amount of time due to staffing issues. Waitresses did come around occasionally to see how we are doing but it would have been nice to see the restaurant manager come as well. We were patient and didn t put any pressure on them because we don t know what s going on in the back. No one came to see how our food was. The burger patty was a bit on the smaller size with a bit bun. The BLT is good. The croutons were a bit soggy and the Cesar salads lacked dressing. This could be become of the rush job due to staffing and they had an off night.
Our first time wasnt anything spectacular, but it had just opened. We went last night, and it definitely wasnt anything we will be going back for. Our table and another table were both left wondering if we would be waited on. We got chicken clubs and my goodness.... how could it be so dry...??? It would have been a stretch to say the potato fries were even warm. Way over priced for bad service and very below par cooking. Worst part is it wasnt even busy and thats the service. Can safely say we wont be back.
Great Food, amazing craft beer, and fantastic patio. Date of Visit: Monday August 1st Finding a quality place to eat with a patio isnt always easy. We prefer outdoor dining - and we are not convinced covid is done yet. We asked our followers on Instagram to recommend great restaurants in Owen sound, and Mudtown Station came up a few times, so we had to give it a try. The restaurant is located in an revamped CPR Rail Station. The length of the station building provides them with the opportunity to have plenty of outdoor seating - spaced well apart. Located right near the water - this is also a great spot for views as you eat. The servers are very efficient and friendly. I am a bit of a goldilocks when it comes to beer - I like what I like and i hate what i hate for many different reasons. So, I asked for tastings of various beers that they have on tap. the waitress was happy to oblige. I tried 3 different beer - a Beet, Morrocan spice and a sour. All were exceptional - My husband ordered the Beet - so i decided on the morrocan spice. Such an excellent option. The food - is gorgeous, beautifully presented with quality ingredients. No corners cut. I was having GI issues so i didnt want to upset the applecart - so i selected what I viewed as a safe choice. The Club sandwich and salad. Thick cut bacon, delicious meat, gourmet bread. - it was amazing. My husband had the fish dinner -beautiful and full of flavour. Ample Parking on site and near by. Walkable from all of downtown Owen Sound. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and beer. A very popular place for locals and tourists alike - it seemed fairly busy every time we were near. although not too busy to not get a table. The food was exceptional. The beer exceeded all of my expectations. The restaurant is in a train station. The patio view of the waterfront walk was perfect. Whats not to love about this place? When you are in Owen Sound - the Mudtown Station needs to be on your list of places to eat, or enjoy a beer on a patio.
Took an hour and a half to get 2 burgers and a salad, which ended up costing over $100 with tip. Really not impressed.
Before vacationing in Owen Sound I was elated to reserve a patio table for 4 at this restaurant. Much to my dismay, I was perplexed when on the day of our dinner that the hostess stated OH, you do not have a reservation, but I will seat you in the patio area. My reaction was very confused as I called twice to reserve in advance before arriving in Owen Sound. The hostess reaction to this was to blame other staff members for not keeping track of reservations. I excused the hostess for this mistake & we continued to our patio table. The waitress was very kind & helpful when asked about certain meals. However, most of these entrées were no longer available & were not similar to the one posted online. The meals were mediocre. Luckily, the ambience of Owen Sound made our meal manageable although lacking in flavour. We would appreciate in the future & advise all tourists going to this establishment to please call several times beforehand & confirm the menu options. Kind regards, ~Anonymous
Being from out of province, this was only my second time at Mudtown, and it continued to be excellent. My first visit was in 2021. They have a tasty and interesting selection of beers and some cider, and the food menu has several good vegetarian options. If I had not been driving, I would have definitely tried the barley wine Fall Wheatwine. Anyway, there is ample seating inside or out, and the staff are great.
Stopped in during a short visit to town. Enjoyed a great locally brewed beer. We will definately stop and visit again.
Kaja is an excellent host. The restaurant owner apparently chooses not to have candles for birthday cakes or celebrations. I even asked them if they can write a note saying happy birthday, but they can t do that as well. The food is alright, the drinks are good but the experience of dining here is TERRIBLE. At the end of the day, we go out to dine to enjoy the experience. Choose another place to have a better experience!
Excellent location with fun and historic character. The beer here is excellent, staff is friendly and food is delicious. Always great to see homemade chunky fries/wedges. Will definitely be back, highly recommend!!
Looking for something different and found it! Absolutely stunning restoration of a beautiful mid century train stain and delicious food and beer!
The brew master is doing excellent beers here. Great customer service.
Nice little brewery in an old historic train station. Delicious mix of beers and nice decor inside. Outdoor patio as well
I was very impressed with this upscale brewpub. Firstly the dark mild beer I tasted was to my mind near perfect. Toasty, malty aromas, mild but nicely flavoured. No faults. The brewmaster knows his stuff. Secondly, the mussels I had were excellent. Cooked to perfection, plump, and seasoned nicely with good quality sourdough toast. Service is good too.
great atmosphere. loved all the train themed decor. beers were good, especially the haskap sour. food was good. turkey sandwich was enormous and very yummy. trout was good as well, though i wish it came with some carbs. the soup we got was unfortunately very salty. maybe it was the bottom of the pot? we got there relatively late.
We booked a group of 15 for a birthday celebration and the group could not have been happier with the food, beers and service. I think our server was Elsa and she was amazing! Food came out at the right time, she was never flustered and we were able to pay by couple/seat with no misunderstandings or mistakes. We were in Owen Sound for our uncles 90th birthday and he was delighted with the evening. Thank you to Elsa and to Sarah who took the booking and well be back!
Food& service was excellent
Dropped in last night as we enjoy visiting craft breweries. Love the history behind the brewery and why it s called Mudtown that makes the experience even better not to mention it s an railway station. Thanks Sara for taking the time to explain awesome job. Next time we plan to experience the food. Beer was excellent wish it was available in cans.
Fantastic menu, great staff
Was told to seat ourselves on the patio by one server, so we did, and then waited over 10 minutes with no acknowledgement whatsoever. Then a couple comes in after wed been waiting and is greeted immediately. We told a server we were ready to order, and her reaction was indifferent, so unfortunately we left. Been there before and the food is great, service is generally lacking, but this was real bad..
We loved our first, and hopefully not last visit, to Mudtown. We both ordered flights and liked everything we tried - the saisons were particularly flavourful and interesting. For food we had the falafel, cauliflower, and turkey club. Everything was delicious! Our server Kate was great.
Fantastic food and beer with great staff. The cornbread is a great treat. The brussel sprouts are delicious and the shaved beef and burger are worth the trip. Will be visiting again.
Oh my goodness I don t leave reviews very often but I had to for Mudtown! Everything we ordered was outstanding, the cornbread, falafel, Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad! This is a must go!
Went this evening and had a fantastic dinner! Have been a customer since they opened and food is always creative, so fresh and so delicious. Sarah, manager, took superb care of us butternut squash soup was mouthwatering, my trout was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the smoked salmon was awesome!! Thank you Sarah! Highly recommend Mudtown!
Amazing food, great place for drinks! The staff was incredible. Couldnt find a better place to visit.
Great Burgers and beef sandwich. Beer was also flavourful.
Shaved beef sandwich was out of this world. Great dish!
Nice place. Good food. Great staff. Certainly worth a try for their interesting selection of beverages.
Love this place located in an old train station. Great food (they smoke their own meat - yum!) and great beers. Good choice of wines too. They have a nice patio in the summer and in the winter they have board games for long cold evenings. A must try if you are in Owen Sound.
Fabulous dinner. Outstanding service. Sarah really knew the menu and the dishes and what went into them and was delightful. Both her draught and menu knowledge were exceptional. Had the shaved beef with the Russian dressing on sourdough - flavour profile excellent. And the crispy Brussel sprouts wow. Innovative and wonderful dishes. Highly recommend.
Amazing Brewery and Restaurant experience
Great spot for dinner and always friendly staff!
One of our favorite spots whenever we re in Owen Sound. I ve never had a bad meal/beer from here and their menu rotates seasonally so there are always amazing new options to try (it s often hard to pick between so many great choices). Reasonably priced for the quality of the food.
Fantastic food and cocktails. Lovely service and atmosphere.
Stopped in for lunch in November to try out some different beer on the way through. Everyone loved the food and the beer selection was great! The burger and chips were fantastic and the flight of beer was top notch! Highly recommended!
