This is the first time I’ve dined here since the new ownership and I was not disappointed! Any changes made have been for the better! Food was excellent, portions huge and price very fair. Service was great as usual. Will definitely be back more frequently! The best, crispiest onion rings I’ve ever had! My daughter had the sweet potato fries and also said they were the best she’s ever had!
Made a quick stop at this place for a breakfast. And i must say, it was amazing. Quantities were generous and taste was on point. Ambiance and interior is amazing Staff is attentive and polite. Overall an amazing find and we loved every bit of it. Keep up the good work!
Walking through the door was like entering a time portal. The interior decor is completely retro from the vinyl seats to the vinyl on the walls. The food was amazing. Pancakes and sausage, veggie omelette or the Duke's breakfast: you won't be disappointed. Shelly and Jo are fantastic, if we're up near Hwy 6 again we'll be sure to stop in again to say hi.
The 50s are alive and well here at this packed diner! Memorabilia is tastefully displayed, even down to a jukebox. You'll be expecting Elvis or "The Fonz" to pop in at any moment. Servers expertly glide through the packed diner ensuring that the endless cup of coffee doesn't go extinct. Delicious food is served faster than you can say "Cowabunga!" I would have loved to have experienced the turtle cheesecake or one of those huge, old fashioned crafted shakes that I saw piled high with whipped cream. However, breakfast generously covered my plate, ensuring that sweets would need another visit.
Great themed 50's spot. Food was great. The atmosphere was unique. Service was a little slow though (since it was very busy). Eat a Cheese Burger Royale and a poutine.
Wow, what a fantastic dining experience! Our family of 15 stopped by Elsie's Dinner on our way back from the cottage in Tobermory, and it was the perfect ending to our summer getaway. From the moment we walked in, we were transported back to the fabulous 50's - the decor, the music, and the friendly service all combined to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, with something for everyone on the menu. From classic burgers and sandwiches to old-fashioned comfort food like meatloaf and macaroni & cheese, every dish was made with fresh, local ingredients and served with a smile. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable - we loved that they offer a great meal at a price that allows families to dine out together without breaking the bank. We were impressed by the variety of options, including a great Seniors Menu and plenty of gluten-free choices. And the kids loved the Little Darlin's Menu, which came with a drink and ice cream sundae - what a treat! Our server was friendly and efficient, handling our large group with ease. We can't wait to come back to Elsie's Dinner again next year - it's become a highlight of our annual cottage trip. If you're looking for a tasty meal in a fun and nostalgic setting, look no further than Elsie's, without a doubt!
It's a great 50's themed restaurant just wish the jute box was working. Servers need to smile more. The portion size is excellent. Loved the fresh food.
While visiting Owen Sound we had to check out Elsie's. The milkshakes and 50's theme is what drew me here. Both of us got the retro breakfast which was incredibly filling. Big portions, tasty food. Waitress was nice enough to sub the meat for fruit for me. Staff were very friendly. Was not too busy which was nice. Old skool diner vibe with 50's music playing. My only issue was the dirtiness of the establishment. My coffee mug was dirty when it was first brought to me and the light above our table had specks of dirt that i was afraid was going to fall onto my plate. I also noticed the floor looked like it is never mopped. I feel the tables are only cleaned and the rest of the place is neglected. Other than that I enjoyed my breakfast and the milkshake was good.
My sons and I stood for at least 5-10 minutes waiting to be seated without being acknowledged in any way. We finally saw a table for 4 and seated ourselves. We waited another 5-10 minutes for menus. My son has allergies so I asked about the meal he wanted. I had to ask twice and the answer was probably which tells me no one bothered to check the ingredients for his allergens. We finished our drinks long before our meals arrived which was about 30 minutes after ordering. The decor is diner-ish but the space is like sitting in a warehouse and very noisy. We would have enjoyed the music while waiting but could not hear it. The food is really bland. We had to salt everything to give it some flavour. The boys enjoyed the fries and fish nibblers but my hot turkey sandwich had a weird taste--obviously the roast turkey is roasted then frozen and reheated so its dry and has a weird taste. We had to ask for cutlery. If we return it will only be for desserts. The sundaes were good and well priced.
Service was great. Good diner-style food. Large quantities. One of us had the breakfast and the eggs were overdone. Overall good experience.
I went there Thursday evening with a friend. Ordered the smoked meat. I dont know what we were eating, but both of us couldnt figure it out. It was terrible. The cole slaw and fries were good. The whole time between my friend and I, we were batting fruit flies away. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said she would mention it, as other people complained as well. This is the second time Ive been back since it has been under new management and both times were disgusting. I will never go back!
the employees are amazing; the vibe and decorations are awesome Sadly the only reason to go back. The food was cold stale and not good quality.. I ordered a BLT, it came on smart food/white cheap wonder bread; tasted stale, the bacon was dry and crunchy and the lettuce was clearly iceberg lettuce and soggy I tried to be optimistic but sadly the food is home cooked meals by people who simply have no cooking training over salted, cheap, stale ingredients, cold and overpriced my entire table was disappointed and hungry, 70$ later and we never came back. Despite the fact that it s one of the only diners in our area. this is all based on the personal opinion; I wrote this review with the help of my table. The goal of posting this review is to help other people make their road trip dinning decisions, and hopefully to give the restaurant a chance to maybe get some better quality ingredients?
Great experience. The food was fantastic and there was a lot of it.
Well decorated for store inside when entering restaurant there was about 6 customers we got seated ordered our food about 4 groups of people came got seated got there food ordered and received there food with us still waiting for ours asked waitress after over 1/2 hours for our food she said our order got lost so she had to resend order so when received our food they gave wrong things. We were very disappointed in our visit of first time customer
The food is exceptional. Takeout takes a loooooooong time - 30+ minutes both times. The food is so good that it makes the wait worthwhile, but it is one area that could really be improved on. The hot diggity dog is one of the best things Ive ever put in my mouth. We will definitely be going back! Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level. Completely accessible
Whenever I visit the area, I always stop in at Elsies. Food and service have always been top-notch. Highly recommend stopping by for brunch.
Food is good and you get plenty of it Prices are very reasonable. I gave 3 stars because every meal (other than breakfast) has come to the table cold. Every single time Update (2 years later) Food still comes out cold
We were visiting from out of town. After seeing about this restaurant online I was super excited to try Elsie s. It just didn t meet our expectations and the food was OK. The decor was cute. The waitress seemed like she didn t want to be there. Also, the bathrooms were gross when I went in! They need a thorough cleaning.
Love this place for their nice and happy ambiance. The servers are very nice and the food is great. We stop here for breakfast each time we go on vacation. Music is amazing and it feels like the 60s in every aspect.
The good: Interior is nice and retro. It s a large diner with a steady flow of customers. Good location with ample parking. The Bad: The younger lady serving us was quite rude, didn t come to check on us. Never smiled once . Quite frankly, I feel she s likely we even tipped at all. You can read about her in other reviews as well. In addition, one of our dishes was missing both sausages. To be fair , when we brought this up, they offered to remedy the issue but we declined. One suggestion is to bring a few milks/ sugars/ creams with the coffee so it s not necessary to keep asking. Ultimately, needs some work on the service aspect but good potential.
Sat in the booth for 10 plus min 2 other came in recd menus asap 2 more people came in they to got menus, and the 1st pr. recd their beverages, tables were being cleaned. WE STILL hadnt seen a menu. We finally got up and left. Great way to treat 2 grandmothers and granddaughter stopping to celebrate achievement. Totally disappointed. No comment on the food we didnt have any, like service we didnt have any. Wont be referring them to anyone.
Great
The lady at the front is so nice. I tried the rum runners raisins flavour for the ice cream and it was so yum !!
Took 15 mins to get a menu. Forgot to order my bacon on my burger. Served my drink in a dirty glass.
Wow great decor. Really authentic 50 s feel other than the computer tills. Fun menu. Lots of free parking. Nice staff. The toilet in the men s room is a bit rocky lol.
What a cool place for a meal just outside of Owen Sound. Go back in time with 50/60s decor with great friendly service. The food was fantastic enjoyed on very comfortable chairs and classic chrome tables.
Amazing food friendly staff
Very friendly and welcoming place with a 50s vibe, filled with interesting items. Service was good. I ordered the omelette with cheese and mushrooms in a wrap. It was served with home fries and it was very tasty. Ordered some fries and onion rings to go. My daughter had a blueberry milkshake. What a treat!
I loved having dinner at this restaurant! The atmosphere is great and the music is good. The staff is super nice and the food is very good (not too expensive either) If you are in the area I highly recommend!
Loved everything about this diner!!
Great staff. Fun place to eat in. Especially with kids. Or seniors.
We decided to stop here for lunch on our way home from Manitoulin as it was conveniently located on hwy 6. The bathrooms were filthy and when we sat down at our table we realized the dining room was also filthy and no evidence of regular cleaning. We decided to leave at this point and drive into Owen Sound to eat somewhere safer. This place shouldnt be allowed to serve food!!!
This is definitely not your go to place. We waited 10 mins at the front for someone to come and assist after that we helped ourself getting seated. Waitstaff were so unprofessional and felt like they are forced to work they didn t greet or even smile they just walked past us. We waited over 10-15 mins at the table for someone to come and give us the menu finally we were able to get a server and he asked us if he can get us a cheque? When Our table is clean and empty. We asked him for menu and were able to get 2 menu for 4 people. We ordered fruit bowl instead of fries that never arrived. Egg Benedict was dry and bland. Old lady just kept the food on table and left without telling what she dropped. When we asked the server for fruit bowl he forgot about it and once it arrived it was dipped in sugar syrup and was extra sweet. NOT FRESH FRUIT. Please check for more options if you really want to have a good breakfast definitely not recommend.
Cute diner with lots of 50 s decor. We had breakfast there and the only part that was good was the buttered toast and potatoes! Ordered the eggs Benny - eggs were not runny and almost hard boiled drowning in hollandais- normally would be ok but the hollandais was bland. My son s order was wrong and they brought him a plate of french toast - worst french toast ever. It was dry and there was no taste. It looked like they put a yellow spread on it and called it French toast. Service was slow or I would have sent back my order/. After bringing the food the waitress only came around once to see if we were finished. Waited 15 mins for them to bring my son s correct order. We had such high hopes for this place after reading the reviews.
Good food and service was great. Very nice atmosphere
Horrific food. If it was possible to give negative stars this would be it. We ordered 2 different sandwiches and they were dry and unseasoned. The meat was bald into the middle, an inch and a half thick with a slice of tomato and wet lettuce. Despite the wet lettuce, it was the dryest sandwich I ve ever eaten. They forgot to put the mayo on the sandwich so we had to ask for it on the side. DO NOT ORDER any of the sandwiches. The fries were some of the best I ve ever had. Decided to give the ice cream a shot after leaving. It had a gummy like consistency so it got tossed after one lick.
Stopped this morning for a delicious breakfast. Great friendly service. Loved the tunes and the decor. This is a great example for other diners. Highly rate and recommend. Would love to return again
Best diner experience in 30 days cycling 4000km across Canada. Great service. Good food. Great decor and music. A stop here is essential.
Fun place! Old fashioned food, big portions. I just luv the Elvis and Marilyn prints. Great place for a quick homemade meal, anytime!
Amazing food! Great service! Pulled pork poutine was amazing
Great atmosphere and food. Its like a blast from the past in the best way possible. It feels like I should be going there in a 57 Belair.
This place is really cool. When we walked in I loved the decor, it does feel like youve jump back in time to the 50s. I took a chance on the Elvis Sandwich I really liked it, and our group over all enjoyed the food. Its a really busy place so I wouldnt expect fast service like a lot of the entitled reviewers are complaining about. The placed was rammed so we gave the benefit of the doubt which people forget is the human thing to do under the circumstances. That being said my only criticism was there was some cleanness issues we noticed a fridge near the ice cream counter looked a little neglected, to a concern. Odd, because it looks like they specialize in ice cream/shakes after breakfast. Also my wife & sister in-law said the womans washroom was unclean and the stall had rust on the metal door parts. I used the mens it was more than fine. To be honest the places Ive worked the womans washroom always turned into a disaster at some point of the day. So I cant really comment on the issue. But this is why I cant give 5 stars.
Restaurant was not full and yet the service was slow. 2 of the four meals had the wrong sides. Liver was tough and overcooked. Nothing had flavour . Waste of money and time.
The vibe and the food is very good. But the service was the worst. Most of the clientele appeared to be retired so they have the time to sit and wait all day, but if you value your time in any way, this is not the place for you. One person finished their meal before the other three got theirs, and they tried to serve two plates that we hadnt ordered. They also made multiple mistakes on our orders when they eventually showed up. Our waitress most likely quit after taking our order as no one could track her down so it was difficult to pay the bills as they didnt know who ordered what and got a salty attitude about splitting the check. Not a good experience!
Very fun atmosphere, and definitely worth checking out if youve never been. Milkshakes were great and food was also good.
Went with my sister and grandparents to grab some food. Ended up waiting 10 minutes just to get menus. After getting our orders taken, we waited over an hour with no food. We watched multiple people come and get food then leave. We talked to the manager and he blamed it on the printer not working (not sure how this relates to food). We watched as another table got their food and we left. Very upset about this since my family loves coming to this place after a long morning. Won t be recommending till service is fixed
Good food, friendly staff and a very cool athmosphere and design!
So good! Our server Marley was awesome, food was delicious, super cute atmosphere. Would go out of my way to visit again.
Extra fun retro diner
We have eaten here for years but, probably no longer. Things missing from our take out, soggy uneatable sweet potato fries. A wrap with no chicken yet, charged $23 for lettuce? Come on. Nope. To expensive for getting home with a food order like that. This has happened multiple times the last few orders. Time for a new joint!
A family fav. Great breakfast. Friendly (but sometimes slow) service
Fantastic 50s diner experience! Authentic look and feel, good food and excellent service. Would absolutely go back again. Recommended
Great friendly, fast service- old fashioned casual place
Very busy and popular diner on Highway 6! We stopped off on the way back down from Tobermory and it is clear that this is both a popular spot to stop at while travelling up highway 6 as well as a popular local spot. The lunch rush was just ending and it was certainly busy, though we did manage to get a table right away. Going in with the old diner atmosphere there were old diner decorations as well as music from that time period being played (if a little loudly). The menu had plenty of options without being overwhelming and the portions were a good size, large without being too much. We split a dessert (too full otherwise) which was well worth it! A great meal from start to finish!
Staff is friendly , good attitude.
Small portions Sandwich very small Plain presentation I Food : 4/5
Simply put, always consistent and great! Great food, service, staff! Food : 5/5
Great 50s style diner! Greeted with a smile, breakfast served all day and portions as well as prices are terrific. Come with an appetite!
Very very friendly place
We went to Elsie s for some delicious ice cream and we re not disappointed. The friendly staff were happy to serve us up some delicious scoops.
Great place!
Most delicious burger I have ever tasted in Canada, also most delicious Ice cream
This has always been my favourite restaurant I love everything about Elsie s the decor the oldies playing in the back ground the friendly staff and not to for get the delicious food I love the hanks hot roast beef my favourite as well as the burgers I m happy now that is under new management nothing has changed everything is still the same thank you Elsie s I will be back for sure and I will spread the word out there how good this place is
Liver over cooked and blah flavour ,fries cold, side coleslaw terrible. Service was fair. Ate there before was great. Not sure I would recommend to anyone.
They let me customize my own meat lovers breakfast burrito and it was delicious! I just wish they already had it on the menu because they made me pay a nice penny for it. Would have been 5 stars but thats the only knock against them was the price I had to pay for it. Otherwise good food and the staff is GREAT!!
Amazing diner, absolutely love coming here. Always fantastic food and service.
used to be a nice spot, but new owner (ayush) is stealing tips from staff, not following health & safety rules, and docking half hour breaks but not providing them to staff. standards are very low, as new owner is cutting corners to save money. since taking over two months ago, new owner has fired two staff members & one has quit. would not recommend anyone support this business as they are exploiting vulnerable workers, and violating health & safety regulations (currently under investigation by the ministry.)
Had a lovely breakfast with a family member. Prompt coffee refills and perfect service. Food portions were big and very satisfying!
I was on March/19/24 with my daughter, the restaurant is very cool, all is another 50th years, the decoration is amazing! We ordered Big Daddy Burgers delicious, perfect Cooked and enormous OMG I can said all the ingredients was fresh, I did not feel any process food in my plate. I highly recommend the place, is different and very good.
Amazing burger, super friendly staff. Malted milkshake was very well done
A must go to when you re in the Owen Sound area. Great food, lovely staff and a 50 s diner atmosphere perfect!
The malted milkshake! Sooo good
Just moved here Nov 2023 and love this place! Great bottomless coffee, food, service and prices!
Food was good, fairly fast service.
Awesome place for breakfast as well, it turns out! Good prices for great food. Took my family here after a night of drinking to soothe some hangovers, and it more than did the trick.
Good food
Fun place, great eats & great service!! We stop here every time were in Owe Sound. Live the burgers & the fish & chips. You wont go away hungry! Parking: Just lots of parking! Easy access off Hwy 6 Wheelchair accessibility: Again, storefront parking and accessible washrooms
No fuss 50s style diner - reminiscent of Porkys and various other movies. Food is fuss free and decent value, so you get what it says on the menu. Service was reasonably attentive, food arrived quite quickly.
This is a fun place that takes you back to the 1950 s when you step foot inside. The service was great and the food is amazing and fresh! Our server Fisher went above and beyond to help us pick exactly what we wanted. Portions are massive, which is the best. They get very busy so be prepared to wait if they busy. I highly recommend this place hands down. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free items Wheelchair accessibility: All one level
A great place to eat. Great service and great food.
Excellent service, food excellent as well
Two of the waitresses were very rude
Stopped in on the way home feom camping. Always very accommodating for larger families. Love the decor. Food was great, definitely would return.
Passed by on our way back from a trip and thought Id be blowned away based on the reviews but was disappointed. While the portions are very generous the quality was lacking. We were a group of 7 and 5 of the burgers were overcooked and dry. The chicken burger tasted very bland. Pulled pork was delicious. The staff was extremely helpful and very attentive. Theyre 5 stars.
We went for breakfast. Good food and atmosphere.
We were over from the UK visiting friends and came here for breakfast. This is an excellent diner with great food and atmosphere . Highly recommended!
I ordered a rueben and the bread was so soggy
Great dinner!
Attempted to dine at Elsie s on a Sunday night when they advertise they close at 8pm. We arrived at 735 to a dining room with 3 tables still seated eating. The hostess said they only do takeout 20 mins before closing. I replied that we wouldn t want to do takeout but were hoping for a table. She said she d check and went to the kitchen. Not sure who came out, but a lady walked out of the kitchen and aggressively yelled across the dining room we re only doing takeout. It s your only option . I m sure there was probably a more professional way of explaining this to us, but no sorry and couldn t even bother to walk over and speak with us. I responded that we were disappointed as our hotel had recommended them and we thought we were still early. If open until a certain time, most restaurants seat you until closing, so maybe they need to adjust their hours? We then left and as we were getting ready to drive away, the same woman came outside to take down an umbrella on the patio. I said to her that for being in the hospitality business, that was not very hospitable . She responded, in front of our kids, you read our hours, don t be a d*ck . We then drove away pretty disappointed with our experience. Sorry for trying to give you our business. So much for supporting local. We re now sitting at Boston Pizza who is happily serving us so late.
What a refreshing place!! Great delicious food and eye-catching nostalgic decor and memorabilia on the walls from the happy decade of the 50s! I love that they were playing 50s music even outside the building close to the parking lot. Service was a bit slow, to bring our food, but other than that everything was really good! Friendly people too. Thank you for this welcome diversion on our road trip to Tobermory. Vegetarian options: Decent amount of veggie options though not a lot if you don t like even egg.
Ice cream was great
Awesome atmosphere, taught my kids about records, lol. A fun place with great food, kids have Mac and cheese, and kids burger was huge, yummy pickles too. We had the Montreal meat grill cheese, a little small but delicious
Fish and chips.
Eggs Benny way great
So awesome in all ways!
Love it.
Fun stop. Staff and service were great. Good diner food. Fun 60s decor and music.
Loved the food, atmosphere and service! Yummy home cooked food! Highly recommend
Amazing service, food and setting. Good can take a bit to come out but just come with good company and you re fine
If youre up for a 50s diner experience, minus the mini skirts and roller skates, this is it. Lol
I left a 5 star because I dined here several times. I usually get a breakfast and its always good food. Tried lunch a few times it was also good. The waiters are friendly and its a basic restaurant nothing fancy but I like it. Wheelchair accessibility: It is accessible to people in wheelchairs
Food is good. The service is outta this world! I really appreciate that the servers always call us friends. I highly recommend this place!
Incredible food. Best quality. Great service and the atmosphere is like stepping into the past! I definitely am going again, many times.
You come for the atmosphere and pretty much nothing else. I went for breakfast with my family and it was mediocre all the way. It took 10 minutes for someone to take our order. You could see the manager at the bar gesturing to his staff to make sure people got served. It took over 40 minutes to get our food, without being offered refills or checking in. The bacon tasted like it was microwaved, eggs were undercooked and toast looked like it had been partially burnt and then scrapped. Wont be coming back and I dont recommend others take the risk.
Great dinning experience. You are back in the 50s in this amazing place. The food is fantastic. Must visit place. Food : 5/5 |
50s rock and roll atmosphere. Young staff very respectful and prompt. Made good recommendations. Parking: Within 40 feet of the door Kid-friendliness: Great music for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access if someone needed help
LOVED this diner! Highly recommend to all the visitors great food, friendly environment, good service. The cinnamon bun pancakes were delicious! <3 Food
What a great idea! Lovely food. Nice staff. Fresh ingredients. Incredible atmosphere. Did I mention lovely food? Shout out to Fisher for making our visit really fun. Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids of all ages were having a blast. We saw a lot of grandparents treating their kids and grandkids to lunch. Wheelchair accessibility: A gentleman came in using a wheelchair while we were visiting. He had no trouble getting into the building and easily fit his chair under the table.
Great 50s style diner. Enjoyed the food and the service. My family and I will probably be back.
Such a unique diner; love the 50s vibe (and radio). Also, our waiter was super cool!
Our food came out quickly. The plate was stacked and the food tasted delicious. Our server (Fisher) was really friendly as well.
Diner is a throwback to the 50s with a soda bar and ice cream station. A great selection of food from burgers to full meals as well as a childrens menu makes this a family destination. Booths and tables available to serve small or large groups. Food is delicious (try the Everthing Grill Cheese. Ample parking available and on the route to the Bruce Peninsula.
Unfortunately two people in our group got salmonella poisoning, it happened to me the only two who ate runny eggs. Nice atmosphere but I wouldnt recommend.
Excellent food and ice cream
Great 1950s style diner with a family friendly atmosphere!
Nice atmosphere, good service, hearty and good lunch. No more, no less. Delicious eggs, good bacon, regular sausages, good potatoes but better with onions on them. Delicious milkshakes. Kid-friendliness: Childrens meals, drawings and pencils.
Kids had a texas toast green apple grilled cheese and the chubby checker chicken was delicious!
Food was amazing . Everyone super nice!
Great service, great place to take the family or go for a date.
This place is GORGEOUS and perfectly recreated to match T for T a 1950s diner. My family and I enjoyed our meal but I didnt really like the coleslaw that came with my hot turkey sandwich. You could heavily taste the Cabbage but no other flavor or seasonings. Other than that, the food was wonderful. Great staff and a great vibe.
We went to this place for brunch referencing 1k+ rating and the place was packed. Food - average brunch level but the Fish & Chips were good. Service- also not that great. It took some time for the host to take notice of people standing in line. Atmosphere- pretty cute for a Diner. They tried to use smaller spaces and got creative with Elvis theme and town vibe.
Loved the chocolate milkshake. Kids hamburger & fries, mac & cheese, and Elsies breakfast good. However, the French toast needs improvement. The first batch served barely absorbed any of the egg mix. It tasted like plain bread. They remade the French toast, but this time, the egg mixture pooled on the outside of the bread, making it like fried egg and bread. I think that they need to choose a different bread and really soak it prior to cooking. Good service overall and great ambiance and music.
1.5 hours then left, food never delivered.
Love this place! The decor is spectacular Definitely a must see place. Great food too. Ive been hear a handful of times and tried different menu items that were always well prepared and delicious.
I love the decor inside and atmosphere. Food portions were large and proportional to the higher prices. I enjoyed my breakfast but wifes eggs Benny was overdone. Malt and onion rings are excellent. Want to try their club.
WOW ! What an amazing discovery. We discovered this place while on vacation in Sauble Beach. We stopped with the RV. The parking is big enough for big rigs, the service was amazing, the food was good and the portion enormous. ...and we helped a family business instead of supporting a large corporation. We will go again next time we are in the area.
Good food. A little pricey.
Fish n chips were almost cool, my 1 piece of liver 1/4 thick 3x6 overcooked in oil. (Liver is cheap )folks!! Liver should be dipped in flour and cooked in butter or don t bother. Bacon was good. Parking: Ok
Beautiful place with amazing staff, ice creams are huge and delicious, a must when travel north
Very fresh-tasting burgers!
Elsie s Diner is by far my favourite place to eat. The atmosphere is amazing and the prices are more than fair! Our server was extremely kind and quick with service. I can t wait to go back and share another milkshake with my favourite person!
Went with some friends on our motorcycles. It was definitely worth the ride. Had the Chubby Chicken sandwich, fries, and the gravy was really tasty. Next time Im in Owen Sound, I will stop in for a bite, for sure. Food : 5/5
The food was good. But the service was terrible. Had to ask for a coffee refill several times. Gave up in the end.
The best, fluffiest, most delicious pancakes I have ever had. The milkshake was great, and the whole feel of the place is awesome. I cant wait to go back!
Just all good place, great food and so much stuff to look at. A must go see spot
Great Breakfast
Excellent service food great
This place brings you back to the 50s, everything on point from the music they play to the decor. And the breakfast... yummmmm. Recommend the cinnamon bun pancakes, they are both deliciously fluffy and crispy. Will be back next time Im up in this area.
I always go for fish and chips and compared to other places I visited this is one of the many that served a tasty battered fish with their secret dough. Two pieces and costs 20 bucks, didnt charge me for changing the potato chips with sweet potato fries. My friend had a turkey sandwich and said it was great as well. Would definitely go back.
10 OUTTA 10! Huge portions, amazing prices and everything is home made. Yuuuuuuum Food
We came across this classic-vibed diner thanks to last-minute questing about the interwebs. A truly serendipitous discovery! Service was exceptional; the Retro Breakfast was nearly-perfect. The 50s atmosphere is excellently-executed. Aye, its well worth the journey to Elises Diner!
Fun 50 s vibe with very DINER food, milkshakes and all! If you re craving a Beef Dip with mashed potatoes served by an ice cream scoop, this place is your place.
A charming little diner embracing the 60s that we come to whenever we are at the cottage. Food is good, prices are reasonable, portions are decent. All the staff are friendly and service is efficient. I d recommend it.
A nostalgic diner with good food and service.
We have stopped here before, The food was not as good this time, very salty. Staff all appeared to be new, but they were trying.
Fun diner to enjoy with friends.
Not really an old timey kinda guy, but the food was good prices good, served faster than expected and the staff were kind and attentive. Had the Elsies breakfast with ham, eggs over med, was very happy.
A place that feels like a bona fide wormhole between the present and 50s; Elsies Diner provides a menu with delicious meals and drinks, lovely service and an overall aesthetically pleasing layout. Whether youre looking for a nostalgic immersion into a past era or interested in the satisfying topical nature of the restaurants layout: as suggested by the name.
We got roast beef sandwich, foot long hot dog, and pasta.
Support your local business! Ive eaten here 5 times and soon it will be 6! Always the best. Will be back soon!
food and service is good lots of parking no wifi i find some of the meals a bit over priced
Just delicious! Thank you!
Awesome diner, great breakfasts, and lunches. Service is fantastic. Restaurant is very clean. Food : 5/5
Quick and Polite Service.
A very unique dining experience with the 50 and 60s decor and music. Service and food was excellent. Friendly and pleasant staff. Highly recommended, a must for a great dining experience. Parking: Easy parking
