I used to love this place for dine in and takeout. I ordered my usual dishes recently and was totally ripped off. I think the place is under new ownership. The nice owner was not there, the cook was a different person who had no idea how to do his job. They jacked the prices by 30% which now makes it one of the most expensive restaurants in the area. My crispy ginger beef was soggy and the portion was laughably small. It was so bad we didn t finish it. It s disgusting now, sorry. $80 for bad food for two people no thanks don t go here.

The food was okay. Not the best Ive had. The restaurant is small. Be prepared to play musical chairs.

What an amazing restaurant! We came in with our two year old and sat down for some Pho. The Pho was AMAZING! perfect and delicious! The food is definitely worth coming in for. The service is incredible, the very nice lady that works here made us feel at home and was an absolute Angle towards our youngster. We will definitely be coming back. Leaving very full and with a new bar for customer service. Kid-friendliness: Extremely nice staff!

A warm cozy little family restaurant where owners little sons played around and owner-couple did all the cooking n serving, but somehow managed to deliver amazingly tasty, authentic dishes and service with a smile... Not one dish - and we ordered many for our group of seven, came too late or came with any faults - from salads to rolls to curry to fried rice, all dishes were just yum! We didnt really expect much from the small homey-feel restaurant except more sincere if average tasting dishes but we were sooooo pleasantly surprised by the taste- they totally managed to satisfy our spice-n-flavor-loving Indian palates.. The servings were totally worth the price, neatly and stylishly served and the lady was so kind and nice.. We are definitely visiting again if we are in the region!

Came in starving at almost closing time, thank goodness they still accommodated us. Hunger satisfied!

I order the Tom Yum soup because I had a COLD. Soup was Devine and helped me clear up. So good. Eaten there before good food and good value and they always thank you.

TRASH FOOD. Seriously, the worst place ever. Pad Thai tasted like ketchup. I CAN T BELIEVE I PAID ALMOST $20 FOR KETCHUP RICE NOODLE. SRSLY I HATE THIS PLACE. I m usually not the one who leaves a bad review (cuz everyone has different tastes n all) but this is absolutely the terrible place I ve ever been. It s disgusting, the table was sticky, the food tasted cheap and msg. It was an open kitchen n I could clearly see the kitchen was nasty as hell. Even my brother cooks better than that. I still don t understand how much high rated this place is. It should ve been shutdown by now. All of the reviews are scam or just people who don t know what actual food taste like.

Ive been here twice now, once to sit in and once for take out. The service is amazing. Staff is so happy and so kind. I was offered tea while i waited for my takeout. The portions are big and vary fairly priced. Everything is incredibly fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

The location is small but it feels homy and cozy. There is no parking right in front of restaurant. But its worth the effort for the excellent food. We were pleasantly surprised how tasty and fresh everything was. The pho was hot and delicious. The salt and pepper squid had a spice kick to it, you couldnt stop eating. And the deep fried cheese wonton were so tasty! Will definitely stop by again!

Best dishes, highly recommend general Taos chicken, deep fried cheese wontons! We also had the veggie noodle soup, chicken wonton soup and the vietnamese spring roll. Everything we had was amazing!

All in all, the food was very authentic, making use of authentic ingredients that is very apparent in their cuisine. The owners were very kind people who treated us nicely. I would definitely come back :)

I had a good experience at this Thai restaurant. Ive been looking for a good Thai place and this one hit the spot. However, the washroom is located downstairs and it smells and looks a bit strange. One thing to note is that they dont have a regular menu, only flyers for takeout. Also, the restaurant is quite small with only a few tables inside, so it can only accommodate around 10 people at a time.

Went in for the first time, had a small beef pho for 13.99 around lunch time. Big plate of sprouts, fresh lime, basil was OK. Broth was great, noodles were overdone. Meatballs were standard, but some of the beef was exceptionally tough. Overall it wasn t bad, but it wasn t really good. I will definitely be going back sometime to give a second chance.

Super friendly and accommodating owners. Most of the menu is very authentic. Pho is excellent. Need a bit more meat and less noodle. Padthai needs improvement. Mushy and not enough veggies like bean sprouts and onions. Sauces used for padthai and padsew dont taste right. More like a sweet and sour. Mango salad is amazing. Same with the sticky rice dessert. Overall i find their Viet selection more tasty

When I was traveling, I passed by this store. The owner was warm and hospitable, the food was substantial, and the ingredients were fresh. It s a rare small-town Chinese store! (The amount of powder is so large that one person may not be able to finish it), recommended!

We had the Red Curry Chicken and it was hands down one of the best (if not the best) red curry I have ever had. Everyone there was really friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we had a good lunch. We for sure be going back to try out other meals there!

We stumbled upon this place when everything else was closed on a long weekend. At first the place looked pretty tight, and we even thought of getting out. But the lady (owner) won our hearts with her love and kindness. She treated us like her children, and cared so much about making us comfortable. She even put a container of rice (that I loved) in our take out bag. Thank you for your kindness. We will definitely be paying it forward!

Had an excellent meal here. It s all about the food and the owners, they go the extra mile to ensure you leave full and happy. Feels just like you re a guest in their home. My pregnant wife ordered the green curry and it proved to be too spicy so the owner lady brought her pho soup, extra shrimp, extra mango salad and a mango juice. Thanks for treating us like family.

I have been to many Asian restaurants in GTA, I can t be believe I had the best customer service in this restaurant in Owen Sound. The food was also authentic.

I ordered their combo so I could try a little bit of everything and it s absolutely delicious. I highly advise others to eat here. Super enthusiastic and welcoming owner. We had the General Tao Chicken and Crispy Ginger Beef. Super delicious and with the portions more than generous, we left with a takeaway dish. I recommend this no-frills place to anyone who wants a good, reasonably priced meal in downtown Owen Sound.

Took a stop at this place on our way back to Toronto from Tobermory, since this was one of the only ones open beyond 8pm. Great food - all the Thai, Cantonese and Viet dishes were delicious, and service - the owners are very warm and welcoming, and literally make you feel at home. The owner (lady) made sure we were well-fed and took care of us like we were house-guests. After the meal, she offered us Asian sesame sweet treats, and even when we were packing up our left over food, she was kind enough to give us extra rice to eat with our remaining curry - havent seen this happen at any restaurant. She told us how she lost her business in Toronto during Covid and had to setup the restaurant in Owen Sound. Definitely a must visit place if you are in the area and need something warm and comforting - food and service.

WOW, WOW, WOW, OMG, WOW!!! Forget about the brick and mortar, this place has charm and amazing food!!! We were taken to another country!! The owners are sweet and attentive and the food was fabulous! Not pricey at all, couldnt eat it all. Had to take home what we couldnt eat. If you dont need fluff and feathers but like GOOD food, highly recommended!

I have never had such a positive restaurant experience like this in my life. The owner treated us like family! She is so sweet. The food was fresh, vegetables were fresh, cut to perfection. Ma and pa style restaurant, very authentic, reasonablely priced. The food is amazing fresh tasty, made on spot at the time of order. Only one complaint, wasnt spicy enough. Ill be sure to ask for it next time. I feel the food was lacking some hotness (spicy) gave them 4 out of 5. Will be going again, Im going to tell anyone that will listen about this place for a while. Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options. Parking: Park on the one way street on the corner by the bridge. Loads of free parking there. Kid-friendliness: No reason kids wouldnt eat there, one thing my kids arent adventurist eaters and might not be familiar with some menu item. Appears to be a family run restaurant, prices are nothing special 20_30$ for a nice big meal. they are very friendly and very caring, its a small restaurant only seating about 15 total i hope they are doing well financially as it would be ashame to lose this great restaurant

I don t know which version of Pad Thai in the world uses breaded sweet and sour shrimp. It s not Pad Thai. Clearly the dish was correct at one point based on last year s review. I have no idea what happened but I hope as a restaurant with the word Thai in it it knows how to make a basic dish correctly.

Had the green curry chicken, the chicken wonton noodle soup and the fried rice. It was all amazing. Hand made wontons, the broth was very good. Green curry packed a good punch, big flavours. Fried rice was obviously cooked in a high heat wok, had that Smokey taste fried rice should have with a little crispy browning and wasn t clumpy . Highly recommend avoiding this place if you have food intolerances or allergies. As Im writing this I just found a 3 inch in piece of plastic in my food, picture attached, so dropped the star rating to 1. I was very specific about wanting chicken noodle soup, even when they asked me if I wanted wonton soup. I refused it at least 3 times. They brought me wonton soup insisting I would be charged like the regular soup, much to my horror. Explained I could not eat it, and no, they could not just fish the wontons out. I think they were trying to be nice, but considering I had expressly stated I just wanted my chicken soup, nothing else, and no, expressedly stated that I did NOT WANT wontons, I was quite upset. Asked for my actual order to go due to time. They then tried to charge me as though as I had ordered the wonton soup. The total was wrong repeatedly - though to be fair they did just open and are still learning their system. They did give me a bottle of water for the inconvenience. And the bill was correct in the end. As for the food quality, its reasonably ok. Service is fast, but expect some communication difficulties - as such, if you have food problems, better to save Pho for the city.

Very good food. Fresh and flavourful. The owners are nice, and there seemed to be a sense of fun and that came through in the food. Had Chicken Pad Thai, delicious Spring rolls, Pineapple rice and of course Mango Salad.

The food was good and we regularly went out for pho/thai when we lived in the city, however the ordering process was difficult as they didnt have several of the items on the menu (shrimp rolls and papaya or any other salad) and after an extensive wait the order ended up incorrect which we just ended up taking. We had the beef pho (was suppose to be rare beef), general tao, and beef pad Thai (was suppose to be chicken). We are hopeful they will improve their front of house as the back of house provided tasty food, but the service left much to be desired unfortunately.

We stumbled upon this place while coming back from a full day of exploring South Bruce Peninsula and areas of Grey County/Georgian Bay. It was getting late (approaching 9:30), and most of the other restaurants in Owen Sound were closed or closing, but the owner welcomed us in and went out of her way to accommodate us. The place is small, and wont win any awards for ambience or decor but more than made up for that in overall friendliness of the proprietress and quality of food! We were a party of four, so we were able to sample a variety of menu offerings. Two of us had the Vietnamese Beef Noodle soup (Pho), while the other had Vietnamese Beef Ball soup (Bò Viên). One of us was vegetarian and had the fresh mango salad with vegetable spring rolls on the side. The soups were exceptionally good, and VERY filling with generous portions of beef, noodles, & fresh vegetables. The mango salad was refreshing and absolutely delicious! Everything was prepared fresh, and portions were generous. The food was oh-so-so good, and the proprietor so friendly, we came back the very next evening! We ordered the mango salad (x2) again because it was *so* good the first time(!), and also tried the deep fried won tons (Hoành thánh ?) which were *incredibly* light & delectable. So yummy!! We also had General Tao Chicken, tempura shrimp, and pad thai w chicken. Again, as like the first time, portions were very generous, prepared fresh; and service was friendly throughout. Oh; and while not on the menu the owner made us a delicious drink (upon request) from coconut, fresh cream, crushed ice, and some other ingredients Im not sure of. I have no idea what this drink is called, but it was absolutely delicious! We will be sure to drop in and visit again on our next trip through Owen Sound. Highly recommend!

The receptionist was very friendly, but did not serve dishes according to Thai recipes. After 2 ordering errors, we finally ate dishes that were not very fresh...

I really wanted to love this place, but the Pad Thai was awful. It was just sweet and sour red sauce on mushy noodles. No lime, no tamarind, no veg, no love. The Pad See Ew was also disapointing, bland and super salty.

Hubby and I are on vacation and we stop by one more night in Owen Sound hotel before we go home. I felt like want some PHO soup and we found this place HONG THAI RESTAURANT. The owner was super friendly and very encouraging. I told her I just only want soup and she even took me to the kitchen and choose what I want. She s so nice and very welcoming! The soup was so delicious and she even add more meat for my satisfaction but she didn t have to do that. Highly recommended when you re in this area.

The bosss service attitude is very good, he is hospitable, and the food tastes good. It is very comfortable to eat a bowl of signature rice noodles on a day trip. As for the dining environment, um... the place inside the restaurant is not big and the hygiene is average.

Finally a Vietnamese/Thai serving tasting closest to authentic food. Being Asian myself and coming from the big city, I approve the Pad Thai and Pad Seew. My husband loved his bowl of Pho. Had to finished off my meal with yummy Vietnamese coffee. A must try if you like sweet cold creamy coffee.

This is definitely not a place to go to for the ambiance & we are ok with that. But, unfortunately the food doesn t make up for the dismal atmosphere. The rare? Beef pho was anemic & bland with pools of grease floating on top. My husband said that Campbell s pho tastes better. When asked if I wanted my pad Thai to be spicy, I said just a little bit would be okay & it came back so spicy that I could barely eat any. We ended up throwing it out as my husband, who enjoys spice, didn t want it either. The mango coconut cake was some lovely sliced mango served with inedible hunks of coconut in a hard, unsweetened gelatin. Took one bite & spat it out. No sweetness to it at all & off putting texture.

I m a real big pho Connoisseur and I know a good pho bowl when I try one I m always extremely disappointed when I go to a place and it isn t to my liking but this place is extremely authentic and tasteful the lady here greeted us very kindly and even shared her story of how she came to Canada made me appreciate this restaurant even more the portions are huge I ordered a large and was unable to finish although I desperately wanted to keep eating the fresh rolls are different they have mango salad in them I can t say I Enjoyed it that much but everything else was amazing definatly a great place to stop on the way into tobermory or heading home! Will definatly consider coming back if I ever come out this way again!

This is one of the best restaurant experiences Ive had in a long time! The restaurant is modest in size, the menu has both vegetarian and meat options and the food is delicious. But the most unexpected part is how the owners welcome you with immense warmth and happiness. If youre having a hard day .. just go to this restaurant for the soul food and positive vibes. Will definitely visit each time in the Grey/Bruce area.

We had an amazing dining experience at Hong Thai. You won t find any finer hosts than Joan and Steven! They use the freshest of ingredients and the flavours are incredible. You have to try the mango salad! So delicious!! Hong Thai is a great addition to our community! I ll definitely be back.

Really bothers me to have to rate this place a one star, given how harsh it is. However, when I support small local restaurants, I do so with the expectation that the food I eat is prepared in a sanitary environment. Not the case here - got home to find hair in my $17 meal (see attached picture). There were a couple of other indicators that this is not a hygienic place. The first thing I noticed upon entering is a mottled piece of tissue on a shelf. Who knows what it was used for, but definitely not something you want to see in a restaurant. Then there was those two pairs of nail clippers by the takeout window. So disappointing and gross.

The food is awful, price is too high. Don t go there.

We visited Hong Thai while passing through Owen Sound and really enjoyed the food and hospitality. The red chicken curry was super tasty and we really loved the fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. We felt like we were eating at a friends kitchen. Would highly recommend.
