I love Saint Peter. I visited them at the new location in the Grand National Hotel for my friend's birthday. I love the new environment. The food and drinks were amazing, as always. And they always try to improve their dish like the lemon tart, love the new changes.
We dined at the bar of Saint Peter this evening, and wowza, what an experience!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a warm friendly presence. The food was outstanding and the customer service continued to impress us as the night went on. Each dish was presented with such care and expertise, I can understand why everyone is talking about this place! I will highly recommend this dining experience to every one of my friends and I will definitely book into the restaurant for my next visit!
My first dining experience at Saint Peter’s new location left me thoroughly impressed by their unwavering commitment to excellence. The restaurant maintains its impeccable standards, with each dish crafted to perfection, leaving a memorable impression. The appetizers and main courses showcase the chef’s creativity, not only in presentation but also in the meticulous choice of ingredients. Each seafood dish highlights the freshness of the ingredients, delivering an experience that delights the senses. The desserts were a particular highlight, from refreshing fruity sorbet and a beautifully crafted lemon tart to delicate chocolates and French pastries, each bite layered with richness and artistry. This dining experience was a true feast for both the taste buds and the eyes. Saint Peter is a restaurant that pays attention to every detail—a destination truly worth visiting, promising to captivate every guest and leave them craving more.
Wow! My dinner Saint Peter was exceptional. And an unforgettable experience. From the food, to the staff, and everything in between, it was an amazing meal. At Saint Peter, they aim to use about 90% of the fish, as opposed to the 45-55% that is normally done. From noodles made from ground up fish bones, to sliced 'meat' using only parts of a fish, to fish eye macaron and chocolate using fish bones and fat. I was hoping it would be good, but I was blown away by every course. The salt and vinegar garfish, even with the head and tail on the plate, was my favourite of the night, though it was hard to pick just one. So clever, but backed up by being so amazingly tasty, too.
Just finished an amazing experience at the new Saint Peter. Can’t remember going somewhere where each mouthful could justify the expression mmm yum. So many amazing creative flavours, so effortlessly presented and just damn delicious. In Sydney if your looking for a great Sydney dining experience, whether your local or from overseas, I couldn’t recommend saint peter more highly. Tasty. Great service. Creative. Effortless. My only negatives are for a restaurant that’s expensive for Sydney the wine list could be a little more extensive (although wines were reasonably priced) and, as a Paddington local, the room could have reflected the area more appropriately. But when you’re saying the room doesn’t quite match the food you’re not in a bad place!! We certainly could not relate in any way to some of the bad reviews I’ve read. Highly highly recommend. Globally excellent.
The food was amazing - I've never eaten fish being used so creatively to provide a memorable meal. Each course delighted while challenging your perception of what fish can taste like. Amazing. Being able to see and hear the chefs at work just a few feet away was also a delight. The non-alcoholic pairing was perfectly matched with the food dishes and complemented each other so, so well. The only downside was the ambience - the loud supermarket style music really distracted from the pleasure of the evening. Not only did it mean that it was hard to have conversation with my fellow diner, but it was also difficult to hear the staff who presented the dishes and the drinks in so much, beneficial detail. The music noise was so great that on five or six occasions I had to ask the staff to repeat themselves, something that has never happened to me in a good class restaurant before. In summary, food and drink, close to the very best I've ever had. Music sound close to the worse low budget motel or cheap supermarket. Thankfully, we visited for the former not the latter, so we would return, but it was a great pity.
We loved the food and the pairing suggestions were perfect. It was amazing to sit close to the kitchen so that we could see the beautiful creations being plated. We want to go back again soon to taste what we didn’t have this time. Overall a delightful lunch 😋
Special is the only word to start describing the experience here. It's hard to find a place that truly stands out from others in how they prepare their food and Saint Peter surprised the hell out of me with their take on seafood. The service is second to none and the place is cozy and inviting. I loved their decor choice with subtle hints to all things aquatic like the lighting decor that to me looks like the spine of a fish. The food is delicious, inspiring, and I think I found my new favourite fish ever here, and that's saying something given all the other reviews I've made to date. From the way the doors are opened to the time you leave the team make you feel special. We were recommended to order two entrees and two mains each. That hit the spot perfectly as I thought I'd leave the place hungry but was pleasently surprised at how filling the dishes were in a nice, contented kind of way. The coral trout was my favourite even though it's really hard to pick a fave from amongst the rest. Cannot recommend Saint Peter highly enough and looking forward to coming back!
Amazing, inventive food in a beautifully renovated location. Couldnt recommend Saint Peter highly enough.
I will start by saying the service and atmosphere was exceptional! Could not fault. The food for me and my table was over engineered and rich. This could be controversial, but seafood does not need to be over engineered. The last visit we have to St Peter had a menu that understood this. But this menu was so overly fishy and too rich. The whole menu was strong oily fish, it didn t take you on a journey of seafood (besides calamari), the sorbet was a refreshing end. . We LOVE seafood, but it was very disappointing The charcuterie fish board at the start is inedible and I didn t see any table finishing it.. it feels like it is the chef flexing and not focussing on the end consumers wants. The fact that most positive reviews talk about the lemon tart is a concern. Everything was beautifully presented however.
Sam is a gun
We could not fault any of the meal, every dish was well thought out and absolutely delicious, The staff totally made the evening for us as all were both extremely professional, knowledgable and approachable making it not only an amazing dining experience but also a fun night for our Birthday celebration. Thankyou Josh and all the team at St Peter
Banana vacherin.
One of the worst restaurant experiences I ve had, and not at all what I d expect from a three-hat, restaurant of the year establishment. Our 2:00 PM reservation started late, service was painfully slow (it took nearly an hour just to get oysters), and then, right after 4 PM, we were told we were out of time and couldn t order dessert or more wine unless we moved to the bar. Meanwhile, other tables were still being served. Being rushed out like that, especially after delays caused by the restaurant, was incredibly disappointing and unworthy of St Peter s reputation. Guests should be given enough time to enjoy the full dining experience, including dessert, and if time constraints are strictly enforced, the restaurant should pace service accordingly or remind diners upfront. It s a shame because the food was lovely, but the service completely overshadowed what could have been a great lunch. I hope others have a better experience.
Incredible meal with so many innovative approaches to incorporating seafood. Delightful staff service, with fantastic wine selection, cocktail (and mocktail) options. Really lovely ambiance and furnishings too.
This place was easily my fav dinning experience in Sydney
Spectacular from every perspective.
Please remove the forced tip
This was an amazing restaurant experience. We can see why it has all the accolades. We need to give a special shout out to Hayden. He was exemplary and made all the difference in making a great experience, extraordinary. He was the magic in the place and we loved his authentic enthusiasm. He s a good egg. Make sure you let him know how special he made our visit. Many thx. Tina and Christina
Saint Peter is an exceptional fine dining restaurant specializing in fish. An absolute highlight! They use everything from the fish, which gives us an even closer look at the different flavor options. We had the tasting menu, which was extremely excellent! For us it was a taste experience to the power of ten! Dietary restrictions: They also make all the faces gluten free
This experience was above many (or all) 1-2 star Michelin restaurants I have been to in North America and Europe. Would highly recommend. The calamari pasta and the fish charcuterie were excellent and very original.
Huge disappointment. One course had bad/off fish. Best was the tart. Will never go back. Food : 2/5 |
Every dish of the degustation menu was a creative masterpiece, meticulously prepared, beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. The staff were professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The venue is elegant with tables thankfully spaced well apart so you dont feel youre sitting together with the people on the next table! In summary: a delightful culinary experience. With the menu currently priced at $275 plus 10% which they add onto your bill, the $300 plus drinks makes it a perfect for special occasions, But the adjoining bar with its more casual menu and setting could definitely become your neighbourhood restaurant for more frequent, relaxed and more economical visits!
The most incredible degustation - Josh Niland and his team have nailed it again on an even higher level with their new location/restaurant up the road from the previous venue! We had the best seat in the house and made mums birthday incredibly special thank you to all who worked on the evening of the 27th Nov serving us at the chefs table! It was truly memorable and mum was the happiest!
one hour to receive 5 dishes
The FRESHEST, TASTIEST oysters I have ever had in my life. Not an exaggeration.
Exceptional skill and execution. The coral trout was a standout for me and the lemon meringue tart was so delicate - must try!
We had a wonderful long lingering lunch here made all the better by their wonderful staff, particularly Ebony. Dish of the day was the snapper.
The best food I have ever had. The time and effort that has gone into these beautiful dishes is amazing and the staff were so helpful and knowledgeable.
Anything this place does is good, even wonderful Vegetarian options: Even though this place is pre-eminently dedicated to fish, there are non meat options, and anything here is great Parking: These people do the right things for the right reasons and without airs or pretension. Wishing the team every success
Absolutely brilliant.
Visited in Nov 2024 An absolutely fantastic dinner at what truly is one of the best restaurants in the world. I personally feel that Saint Peter s 98th rank in the World 100 best is a bit low as I have had meals at some of the other places in the top 100 which were not as good as my dinner at Saint Peter. The dinner was a 9 course meal incl the starter courses and the petit fours. This was such a low carb meal and yet quite filling by the end of it. I hadn t been to a fine dining establishment which just focussed on seafood before and I thought this was a very unique thing about Saint Peter. Loved quite a few courses: - Starters: The fish butchery charcuterie was brilliant. - Mid course: The salt & vinegar mackerel and the Calamari Nduja courses are both fantastic - Main course: The dry aged yellowfin tuna just hit the spot Couldn t find a single complaint about the whole dinner experience. Service was equally good with the restaurant folks constantly checking in on us if everything was going fine. For drinks, we went with a few cocktails. Loved the Spider Flower Negroni and the Coconut & Snap Pea cocktails. Would definitely recommend cocktail lovers to try these two drinks. Overall, this dinner was among my top 5 dining experiences of 2024 and I would 100% recommend folks to make a reservation here if you re in Sydney.
Best Sydney restaurant experience in years
An exceptional night out with such attentive and knowledgeable staff and incredible and interesting food that results in a unique and memorable meal. Equal parts fine dining and theatre.
We had a lovely meal when visiting Sydney. The food was creative and beautifully presented. Thank you.
Wow wow wow this place is next level, room temp oysters blew our minds you can actually taste them, everything was a 15/10 A must do in every way, food, service incredible well done to the entire team - killed it Food
My recent visit to Saint Peter Paddo was a memorable culinary experience that truly reflects Chef Josh Niland s unique personality and approach to seafood. Each dish on the tasting menu showcased his dedication to innovative flavors and techniques, transforming fresh, sustainable ingredients into a series of beautifully presented plates. The food was not only delicious but also carried an authenticity and thoughtfulness that resonates with Chef Niland s passion for his craft. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience without being intrusive, which created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. However, I did feel that the restaurant s layout, with tables arranged quite closely together, detracted slightly from the experience. While the intimate setting has its charm, a bit more space between tables would enhance the comfort, allowing diners to enjoy their meal with a touch more privacy. Overall, Saint Peter Paddo is a remarkable destination for seafood lovers and those who appreciate culinary artistry. Chef and his team have created something truly special, and I look forward to seeing how this exceptional dining experience evolves.
St Peter Bar is a great alternative when you cant get into the restaurant. The tables are well spaced out, the space is stylish, the food is great and the service is polished. Probably the only place where you are told how old the oysters are.
Gorgeous Food with some of the best service I ve encountered! I will be back!
Amazing!
We had an outstanding experience - venue, food and service were all genuinely first class. Our only negative was that the wine pours by the glass were noticeably inconsistent (different waiters) but 2/4 pours were clearly unders !
I loved the old space and vibe, but the new location is definitely a few notches better. What a great meal. Best was the mackerel with olive brine and sourdough and the fruit sorbet.
I have eaten here three times and enjoyed myself every time. If youre feeling adventurous, order the fish ham. Josh can always be seen in the kitchen overlooking every dish being served. The sebago potato scallop is a must -- super crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. *Updated since moving to the The Grand National -- still exceptional!!!!
Excellent ways of showcasing fish. Thoroughly enjoyed all the plates. Would say that the soup/broth was good but the noodles were not.
We had a wonderful experience at Saint Peter s Restaurant. The staff were exceptionally accommodating, knowledgeable, and very friendly, providing outstanding service throughout our visit. The food was excellent, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Thank you for making it such a memorable dining experience! Dietary restrictions: Cater to all dietary requirements
horrible experience. gotta run ASAP.
I was very disappointed with this restaurant both for food and service, and the food safety has a big hidden danger that made me loose bowels. We witnessed a chef making food with his licked fingers and inserting another food with a thermometer that touched his lips. When we reported it to the manager, the feedback we got was: I didnt see it, what do you want? It has been reported to the relevant department for investigation.
My first visit at the new location. The food is as good as ever - service and ambience much improved.
On the evening of November 15, 2024, at 6:30 PM, I was dining at Saint Peter at the Grand Hotel, seated in a position with a direct view of the kitchen while enjoying the AUD 350 per person chef s menu. While observing the bustling activity of the chefs, which was initially pleasant, I noticed a concerning practice. One of the chefs tore off a piece of food with his hand, tasted it, and then continued to handle tools and other food with the same hand. This raised significant hygiene concerns. After repeatedly noticing the chef engage in this habitual behavior, I recorded a video to document the evidence. Additionally, the chef improperly used a thermometer, placing it near his mouth to test the temperature and then reinserting it into the food without proper sanitisation. I raised these concerns with the restaurant manager, but the response was dismissive. The manager initially stated, I didn t see this happening, so it doesn t indicate a problem. When I informed them that I had video evidence, the manager remained unapologetic and indifferent, claiming that recording the kitchen without permission was illegal. I immediately expressed that I would no longer continue my meal, as the situation made me feel nauseous. Despite this, I still paid the bill. I do not believe this level of hygiene and service is acceptable for a restaurant ranked in the Top 50. The entire experience was deeply disappointing. To make matters worse, one of my dining companions experienced diarrhoea and vomiting after the meal as he had everything.
Unfriendly staff and unprofessional service. Questionable food sanitation. Strongly not recommended.
Very bad experience eating in this restaurant. The chef licked his fingers while cooking. The manager was racist and couldnt understand the English we spoke.
Well, its taken a while for us to get here and nothing disappointed. Wonderful food prepared with attention and thought, delivered by attentive, intelligent and respectful staff. Relaxed but undoubtedly acknowledged as a special occasion. All in all a gastronomic highlight. Thank you Food
My friend made a reservation at this restaurant, and from the photos, it looked pretty good, so I went there with high expectations. However, I was really disappointed. The food was not only bad, but it was also unhygienic. We were sitting at the chef s table, so we could see the chef licking his fingers and then touching the food. He even used the same thermometer, which he had licked, to check the temperature of the burger . When we raised our concerns with the manager, he made racist comments and displayed a completely inappropriate attitude. It s hard to believe this happened in a city like Sydney. I will definitely never return to this place.
Food is good, but They automatically add 10% tip, (Its actually written on their website they charge 10% service fee). When I came earlier this year they didnt do this though( ;)).
Great venue, great food, great service, simply outstanding!
Foods r very disappointing. Staff r rude and racist. Lack of hygiene. Worst experience. If u r not white, RUN!!! Food : 1/5 |
I had a disappointing experience at Saint Peter recently. We were seated at the Chef s table when we noticed a chef eating food while preparing dishes. He was even using his fingers to continue cooking without any concern for hygiene. Shockingly, he inserted a thermometer into another dish right after tasting it with his fingers, which seemed highly unsanitary. When we raised this issue with the manager, the response was dismissive. Instead of addressing the problem, he questioned our concerns and mentioned that recording videos without permission is illegal. It felt like our feedback was ignored simply because we were not locals. We have since reported this incident to the NSW Food Authority. I expected much better from a restaurant of this caliber, especially considering its reputation. This behavior was unacceptable, and I wouldn t recommend dining here unless they make significant changes to their food safety practices.
Sincerely some of the most creative food and finest service Ive had. Cannot recommend highly enough.
A long anticipated visit to this restaurant which has recently been awarded the SMH Good Food Restaurant of the year lived up to every expectation, a truly memorable dining experience - I highly recommend.
Amazing food and great service
Well deserved hat in the front bar of Saint Peter! Engaging and knowledgeable service with beautifully presented dishes (delicious too), cant wait to dine in the main dining room! Bravo!!
Fantastic tasting menu. Before I reserved I already know that this restaurant will try to utilize every part of fish. And the dishes I taste still blow my mind that know how lots different method to use fish. Amazing dinner, thanks to you
What an amazing, unique, world class & memorable dining experience. Kudos to Josh Niland & his exceptional team. And what a beautiful transformation of the old pub space.
Exquisite
Honest, unpretentious, unfussy cuisine, just sheer quality seafood perfectly executed. knowledgable staff, beautiful space, brilliant cocktails and a great wine list. Saint Peter is simply the best.
An extraordinary meal experience on a Tuesday night at St Peters at the Grand National. The food, ambience and service were all top level. Staff went out of their way to provide detailed information on the fare, and proved very knowledgeable. Wine list is as extensive as youd need. Will definitely be back. If Michelin covered Australia this restaurant would have some stars.
Walked into this beautifully decorated Resturant greeted by Josh. The food showcased fish in the most imaginative and delicious ways possible. Leaves you craving for more. The service was undeniably attentive. Smiles all round! The wine and drinks options were perfect. Can t wait to go back and try more dishes. Love love love . Highly recommend. Thank you to the Chef, kitchen staff and wait staff. Our long lunch was perfect.
Loved the new venue, service was great, wine a little exey but good. Food at the bar was super disappointing. Only one option not either deep fried or served in oil, couldn t eat much but still felt greasy and yuk after it, and I personally didn t think the flavours were well balanced. The scotch egg was so rich and deep fried, actually unpleasant, the calamari was disgustingly oily, the deep fried empanadas so rich again and obviously oily. I was told about the sausage (not oily too?) or the fish pie with buttery pastry on the top, hmmm. There was certainly no grilled fish option on the menu. To be fair my partner enjoyed it at the time but then spent all afternoon and night feeling unwell from all the excessive oil. Shame.
Really great service and loved the Patrick Sullivan Chardonnay on offer. As a lunch the food was great, if not spectacularly distinguishable but will return to try dinner at some point hopefully
Everything exceeded our expectations, which were high! The food was incredible, wine matched perfectly, personable but not overly familiar service, and the interiors are sublime. We loved it!
Not only was the food incredible - fish like youve never had it before in a perfectly curated degustation , the staff were just as good. They honestly make this place. They have a love and deep knowledge of the food they are serving, they clearly enjoy their jobs and they are all very good at what they do. Bravo Saint Peter!! We loved it.
One of the best meals Ive ever had, and Ive had a few. I dont know how but theyve elevated yet again in this new space. Staff were amazing, food was exceptional.
Loved it! I d last been to Saint Peter many many years ago when they had the tables (pre bar seating) in the Oxford St location. This new venue and the food has really accelerated and elevated the excellence. Just amazing.
Just tried the bar area for the first time and was slightly disappointed. The bar menu is very limited and we choose a couple of dishes that weren t great The service was also average with large gaps between getting service and items forgotten to be served The fit out is beautiful and we will dry again but I suggest you leave it a few months to iron out the teething problems. This review is for the Bar area only as we haven t tried the restaurant yet
Loved these guys when they were still on Oxford St, super happy to see that the move to the new venue has not impacted quality of food or service. Highly recommend coming here for a fresh take on seafood, my favourites on this visit were the pipis in bergamot oil, yummo. Great wines by the glass, restaurant superb obviously but again, love that you can still just pop in for a bite and a glass of wine at the bar.
Simply outstanding food. Prepared with care and respect for great ingredients. Best seafood in Sydney. FT recommended highly. Only Australian wine. My review from 3 months ago and 5*. Sadly SP is moving towards the chips style market. We ate here last night, although the entrees were outstanding, the main courses were a little disappointing and the sides appalling. Crumbed deep fried parsnip chips were typical American fast food chain style and poor for any restaurant let alone a professional place like this. Potato scallops prepared the same way. The waiter said they were the most popular thing on the menu so downmarket it goes. Shame. Lunch today in the new venue at the Grand National in Paddo was a revelation. There is a main restaurant with 9 courses degustation $275 ph. We ate in the old front bar, converted into a more casual experience, more casual than the main dining area but definitely not front bar . Simply excellent entrees of sashimi nanygai, mussels in oil and marinated fish. Photo. Main of boned garfish, side salad and chips. A pie of cod with fresh curry leaves. Excellent wines by the glass with a big choice. Great bread too! Lovely service from a delightful Scottish lassie. Do yourself a fav and go
Incredible fish centric menu.
Incredible.
The new Saint Peter is as good as you would expect. The new space is sleek and modern, but that is certainly not the highlight of the evening. Its all about the food and Saint Peter does not disappoint. The service is also excellent, knowledgeable and accommodating. Yes, it is expensive, but it is one of the best if not the best restaurants in the country. Highly recommended.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The waitstaff were knowledgable and explained each dish as it arrived. They were attentive, but not intrusive.I liked the neutral colours in the restaurant and the open kitchen off to the side, but the food is the hero here - clearly prepared with care and precision.
The new location is fantastic, lovely warm fit out. Amazing food. Nice of Josh to swing by our table to pass on his birthday wishes and help plate up the amazing Tuna Ribeye
My #1 fine dining experience. So many « WOW » moments. The team is also amazing.
really impressed, some original ideas. very reasonable priced wines
We had the best dining experience. The food was incredible, the staff was so friendly and fun and we really loved the new space. Such an amazing ambiance. I can highly recommend Saint Peter to anyone who enjoys seafood.
Of course its amazing. The flavours and Joshs approach to using everything from the seafood is quite something. Our waiters and sommelier were lovely. No shouty fitout which will date at the end of next month. I loved the last location and the long bar, but this is something else. Go!
Excellent food. Graleat atmosphere.
Josh and the team at Saint Peter delivered an unmatched dining experience at the new Saint Peter location in the GNH. The food was immaculate, with every dish exceeding our expectations. The service was also second to none, leading us to stay longer and enjoy the ambience in the front bar after our meal. It was also amazing to watch Josh s genius in action after everyone left, with us in awe watching him skilfully break down a coral trout. There was nothing to fault at Saint Peter and we will be dining again.
What a great new addition to the dinner scene in Sydney. Food is excellent. Decor beautiful. Sit in bar with great wine and plate of Oysters is too good.
Fantastic food in an awesome purpose-built space with attentive service from knowledgeable and friendly staff. Each iteration of Saint Peter builds upon and improves upon the last; Josh and the team are breaking ground with seafood like nowhere else on earth. A must-do dining experience!
The best restaurant ever. If you like fish, you have to taste food here. Food
Amazing experience. Food, staff, atmosphere, service absolutely superb. Congratulations!!
Had a booking for 8.45 pm but it wasnt until 9.30 that we were seated and had our first course. Added to the frustration we were early and it took 20 minutes to get a drink while we waited. I also had to request a wine menu. All this meant that we were one of the last tables left and it was midnight when we got home. Considering the cost everything needs to be perfect which it wasnt. The lemon curd tart was outstanding. I would not go back again.
This place is just amazing. The food, ambiance and service can not be faulted we love this place and can not recommend it enough. The thought and detail behind each of our dishes was just incredible. It deserves all three hats!!!
Not so Grand St Peter A degustation experience not to be repeated. Wed 8:45pm, 2 p, 7 courses, no choice of dish $ 750, bill attached as proof of attendance. Many good reviews, an experienced chef, trained by one of the best seafood chef Steven Hodges, what could go wrong? No doubt, a lot of work goes in the preparation with an overall disappointing experience in term of flavour and taste. Although emulating original dishes by substituting the original proteins with fish parts is an interesting concept, it fails to deliver any true culinary discovery as such. Overall, we can t say the food from the set seven courses is not good, but it is disappointing, many dishes have too many mix of savours which is overwhelming for the palate. Probably the small portion used to make each dish, ends up unbalancing the flavours, when you have a tiny bit of fish surrounded by different sauce and ingredients it become lost, failing to provide a good result. The deserts were interesting and probably the most innovative part considering some of the components are sourced in tiny qty from fish parts. This modern set up is run by a large team of staff where no one seems stressed, no doubt this would be very expensive to maintain, it seems overstaffed. As guests, we felt manipulated rather than welcome, we came 4 minutes earlier to our 8:45pm booking, greeted by the front desk hostess, who forced us to sit at the bar pushing the drinks menu, while we said we were not interested. She made us wait 2-3 minutes extra waiting for 8:45 sharp to drive us at a table, while the room was not full at the time. We saw the chef dodging a hi from a distance, and immediately disappeared for ever. It was 9 pm time to go home ! The staff delivers food like in any other restaurant reciting unwarranted explanations, we don t go to a restaurant to hear the fish has been caught one by one or other irrelevant unproven details. A lot of gimmick with little substance or solid evidence. A drinks menu on the table pushing wine by the glass and cocktails, you have to request a full wine list to be able to order by the bottle, the list comes on an iPad. The overall experience is not terrible, simply no special discovery or any tremendous, tasty product that would drive us back, considering the prices, it can only be justified by the number of staff and the restaurant setting, unfortunately less by the food itself which is a serious concern for a restaurant. Based on our experience we can t understand how SMH Good Food would rate this restaurant at 18/20. An additional discretionary 10% tip on the final bill, is absolutely unwelcome, it makes us feel uncomfortable and mandatory very bad practice. Will we go back ? Definitely NOT for the degustation formula. As nothing impressed us to warrant another visit not even if it was offered for free. May be later on we could consider returning to try a la carte as full size serving would probably offer a tastier experience. We did not like the Fish Butchery Charcuterie, as reproducing meat product using fish part with an excessive use of spices fails to deliver a valid substitute for the original product. The John Dory Liver Pâté was terrible, the worse component of the night, with a strong overwhelming bitter taste like a bad quality chicken liver pâté, please take it out. The Salt & Vinegar Blue Mackerel Gordal Olive Brine was OK although, the fish was definitely overcooked in the brine to our taste, the Cultured Butter was very ordinary. Charcoal Calamari interesting although the tasty yellow fin Tuna Nduja covered the savour of the Calamari. A minuscule piece of Coral Trout, too many flavour mixed up in the same plate Aged Yellowfin Tuna, too many ingredients and sauces spoiling the product, nothing bad but nothing spectacular. Native Fruits sorbet, interesting flavour. Sweets of the Sea, best interesting concept and good taste. I would not recommend anyone to go there for the degustation, it seems that full size dish a la carte could be a better experience.
The food was great, the service was great. Definitely worth a visit. Personally I think the restaurant has about four covers too many - you are very up close and personal with your fellow dinners. The ambiance by very slightly dropping the volume of the music. But I would not let those minor criticisms put me off.
Best dining experience in a long time; will certainly be back. Fine dining with a casual (in a very good way vibe). Spectacular dining room. Friendly and helpful staff. And food that easily exceeded my high expectations.
Loved everything here. The uni brioche was stole the show
An absolutely amazing experience! The service was impeccable, and food was out of this world.
Throughly enjoyed our dining experience at Saint Peter. Highly recommend if you are a seafood fan and after something new and different. Stunning restaurant and amazing staff.
Exactly what the hype was all about, great food, great butchering of fish
Amazing food, great wine list and wonderful service. Best meal in Sydney so far.
What a lovely lunch! The food was absolutely beautiful and the service attentive and welcoming.
A truly exceptional lunch, especially if you ve been lucky to follow the Nilands culinary journey. My girlfriend (now wife) and I first dined at Saint Peter on Oxford Street back when they were serving superior Fish & Chips. Today, it was nothing short of impressive seeing the new Saint Peter at The Grand National, with a dining room resembling Michelin-star restaurants in Europe. The menu offers a stunning selection of Australian seafood from oysters to pippies to crumbed King George Whiting (which I strongly recommend). Beyond the seafood, their bread and butter is utterly divine and their pastry program is near perfection. I also recommend trying one of their unique cocktails. Service was warm, albeit a few hiccups - and quickly rectified. I can t wait to visit again to try their tasting menu. I think Saint Peter will reach the World s 50 Best any day, so start booking now!
Went after the move. Was amazing. The lemon tart is perfectly balanced. And the salt and vinegar fish is always amazing
Genuinely amazing. Food, team and room were all so good.
Food, service and wine list incredible , one of the best places I ve been this year so far .
Saint Peter s new reopening is more than just a cosmetic one. It has made Australia s best seafood restaurant even better. The food has stepped up in quality and pushes the boundaries of seafood even more. But more importantly, it s now more than just a meal it s a performative cooking experience.
I was so excited as a local Paddington resident to keep this restaurant in the neighbourhood. Congratulations , the detail and love in this extraordinary restaurant in the Grand National was breathtaking. Cant wait to eat in the bar.
We all know chef Josh Niland is a superstar but it turns out his whole team are on his level. The front of house staff are amazing! Absolutely could not recommend this more. The new venue is amazing!
Absolutely loved the concept of using the whole fish its both innovative and delicious! The dish was expertly prepared and full of flavor. The service was outstanding as well, with a special shout-out to Hayden for his warm and generous hospitality. Ive already recommended this place to all my friends and family who appreciate great food and a fantastic atmosphere.
What a privilege to be at the first Saturday dinner in the splendid new digs. It was a triumph from beginning to end. Immense thanks to Josh and the rest of the team. We ll be back.
Absolutely delicious food - definitely recommend the fish empanadas. The service was fantastic and love the ambience.
UPDATE: I recently dined at the NEW Saint Peter at the Grand National Hotel, and it was a fantastic experience. The dining room is stunning and beautifully styled, elevating the ambiance to a whole new level compared to the old location. The food remains exceptional, with the same high quality and creativity, and the service was impeccable. This refreshed Saint Peter truly sets a new standard and is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining. Saint Peter is a seafood haven where Josh Niland and the team showcase an unparalleled mastery of fish. From the moment you enter, the minimalist yet inviting ambiance lets the focus fall entirely on the star of the show the seafood. Each dish is a testament to precision and innovation, transforming the bounty of the ocean into culinary works of art. Whether its the pristine freshness of the oysters or the inventive preparation of the daily catch, every bite is a celebration of flavors. The passion for seafood excellence is palpable, and Saint Peter stands as a testament to the teams commitment to elevating the art of fish preparation to new heights.
Absolutely amazing. The concept, the food, the service and venue was first class. Best dinning experience I have had in years. Cannot wait to try the front casual dining bar!!!
As a self-confessed food geek/cook I enjoy memorable experiences - I have been lucky this year with incredible experiences in Melbourne and Hobart....then I visited Saint Peter which is on a different level The new premises are comfortable, intimate and yet personable The Grand National setting suits Josh and his teams style of dining Being a solo diner I was placed next to the kitchen/pass with a birds eye view to all the service fun...and Josh welcomed me and made me feel included in the experience It was perfect in so many ways - Henry welcomed me from the moment I walked in all through the meal service with a lovely personality and attention to detail and Julie was there at the end to ensure my experience ended with another smile The food was everything I expected and more with Joshs passion visible on every plate It will be a lunch and experience that I will remember for years to come - thank you team
It was my first night in Sydney, Saint Peter definitely set the standard extremely high. Both the service and the food were amazing! I love the salt and vinegar king george whiting and the sourdough so much. I still dream about it now! Kudos to the chefs and staffs
One of the great dining experience of the Sydney the food the staff all 10 out of 10 , Parking: Best to take a taxi
WOW, on so many levels. Maybe we got lucky with our seats, front row to the best show in town. Not knowing what to expect from an atmosphere perspective, however knowing that service and food were going to be up there based on the following Saint Peter has, we kept getting floored dish after dish, wine after wine. How do they pull off such an incredible event in 3 hours. The word PASSION springs to mind, when you love what you do you make it look easy, (we know its not). All 7 members of the team work in harmony, wining and dining their guests with some of the best food youll be lucky to taste in this lifetime. What makes a night memorable, food , wine and company . We had the pleasure of spending our 11 year anniversary in good company, the wait staff who welcomed us with open arms (and a thoughtful card) and the kitchen who made our night by showing us that theatre isnt all about swear words and bashing the sous chef over the head (sit down gordon) rather a trio of incredibly talented chefs, working closely together, producing dishes that move you time and time again. Joe, KB and Jerry, take a bow!! Until next time. Take care. Derry & Renee xoxo
Saint Peter was such a food adventure! We had a 7-course feast where every dish came with its own story like our dinner had a travel diary. The cozy little dining spaces made it feel like a private food tour. The seafood was super fresh. Will be recommending to all those visiting to head to Saint Peter.
Warm, friendly service, delightful flavours and textures. A wonderful dining experience and truly interesting education about the food and accompanying drinks. Pure delight and innovation! Food
Saint Peter is always an amazing food experience. It is my second visit and I have learned so much about fish and seafood. It is so amazing to experience how the whole of a fish can be used in creative ways to make amazing dishes. It is an experience that one should not miss, as there arent many similar experiences around. The service was a tad disappointing. It was a very cold, windy, wet winter night. We arrived five minutes early for our 5:30 pm booking. I understand that the restaurant may not be ready to welcome guest yet, but I would very much like to be at least acknowledged and possibly offered to wait indoors if seating isnt ready. The front of the restaurant is a huge glass wall and door. Wait staff walking pass us, trying to avoid eye contact, not wanting to acknowledge that I have arrived and waiting outside in terrible weather. It was not a good first impression for my guest when I have spoken highly about this restaurant before.
A top five meal experience of all time. Every diner sits facing the kitchen (close and personal) and each staff member interacts with each diner. I got to talk to the servers, the food prep people and the cooks. They explain every detail of the foods preparation, where it comes from, what to expect from the food and they are hell-bent on making sure you enjoy it, I m actually not a fish person but I am adventurous and this was one experience I hope to be able to repeat. My explanation and the pictures will not do it justice. They could sell a video of the process and it would make money for them. I really hope to be able to go back here again in the near future, I understand in a few weeks they are moving to a new hotel location.
This restaurant is super good. Their attention to detail to each dish is amazing, plated well and extremely interesting flavour combinations. I wanted to get one time before they moved to their new restaurant. Every dish was unique and had extremely nice flavour combinations. My favourite one was the bonito with pumkin coffee and Vanilla. The coral trout was my favourite cut of fish but the aged tuna was so good too. Loved my experience here and hope they do well at their next endeavour.
AMAZING! We absolutely loved our experience here. We aren t big seafood fans but holy moly, I could eat that food everyday. The calamari spaghetti bolognese was incredible as was literally everything else. We were fortunate enough to try the urchin as well which so good! The whole team are really special people who do everything possible to ensure you are comfortable and happy. Hayden recommended some really great wines as well which topped it all off. Can t wait to visit again and hopefully you can keep the current feel In the new location.
Best fish-eye icecream Ive ever had
Great fish dishes that worth a special shoutout. Particularly for the two cold dishes that I had. These are not easy to replicate at home. The fishes all taste well marinated well with the freshness and flavours kept on point. The main dish - flathead - is huge! I went alone and I could not finish. Watch out. I will wish to return but so sad they are only in Australia. I would image the same level of cuisine to cost double in London.
Exceptional - the whiting is a must try!
Food is great - very balanced and thoughtful. Interesting flavours. Everyone there had a really great attitude. There were two standout situations over and beyond their standard good service where they explain each food they bring. 1. My martini glass was refreshed to a cold one mid drink so I don t have a cold martini. 2. When asked to pick sake the staff picked their favourite versus the most expensive or the highest margin product. There is a little bit of an upselling upfront with additions. TBH I think you should have everything included and just price accordingly. I would have dined there if it were $250 per person and didn t have to make a decision on additions. Upselling should be limited to very premium products that a small fraction of people may want to buy which significantly increase price of food for others - eg: high grade caviar. It doesn t need to be explained. Should just be in the menu for patrons to decide.
This might be my favorite restaurant in Sydney. We were lucky to find a last minute lunch appointment and ordered the tasting menu, which was all based around seafood. There are some unique and interesting dishes like the chorizo and empanadas which had fish as the protein (sorry, I forgot what they were), but you could have been convinced the protein was meat. The tasting menu changes frequently, but the chefs favorite, Salt and Vinegar Mackerel, seems to always be there. The uni brioche add-on was great and highly recommended. Also, the custard tart was amazingly light, fluffy and delicious. We would have liked to order the 20 day aged tuna steak but its pretty big and wouldnt have allowed us to try a lot of other dishes.
5 star dining experience at Saint Peter. A long counter seats you directly before the serving staff and chefs - we were right by the kitchen, and could see the plates being assembled in front of us. It s quite a unique and intimate atmosphere, with the exposed brick giving a certain Paddington heritage charm. They are doing some great stuff here with fish - including some experimental and creative uses of parts which might otherwise be discarded. That said, our menu also featured very high quality produce and a pleasant variety of preparation methods and flavours throughout. Service staff and chefs were warm, highly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We had a lovely time and would return for another special occasion; however we know that they are moving location soon so may expect a slightly different experience then. We came for dinner on a Sunday at 5:30pm and spent about 2 and a half hours here.
Exceptional restaurant which I hope is still this good when they move. Exquisite seafood offering with imaginative menu, incredible wine list and brilliant, attentive, chatty staff who know their stuff.
As close to perfection as a restaurant experience can be. Interesting and creative dishes beautifully prepared and presented. Food
This was an unforgettable experience. The skill and creativity of Josh and his team was most impressive. To watch the dishes prepared in front of us made every bite that much more delicious. Staff were only too willing to describe the details of each item on the menu. Every mouthful sent my taste buds to a whole new level of food appreciation.
One of the most magnificent restaurant experiences I ve ever had. I was so humbled by the food, the passion is absolutely palpable. Thanks for having me.
Seamless service the attention to detail by all the staff is incredible. Only one downside was I had no room for desert . Oysters to start with were magnificent, tuna terrine and sea urchin next were sensational and hibachi grilled coral trout to finish was perfect .
The food was spectacular and like nothing Ive tried before. Id definitely recommend the paired drinks option as well. The matching of red, white, dessert, beer and sake throughout the meal was amazing and drinks I would have never thought to match. The counter-style seating across the kitchen really added to the experience and our waiter not only provided exceptional service and knowledge on the food and wine, also gave us some amazing recommendations for other restaurants outside of Sydney to try.
Unbelievable experience, so well hosted. Attention to detail on all aspects was second to none. We really valued the lengths the team has gone to deliver sustainable food practice with such a high level of execution. A seafood experience beyond imagination.Thank you
Our second time dining with you. Impeccable service. Delicious food. But it is your passion and attention to detail, and willingness to engage with your diners that makes you guys special. Whenever in Sydney, we will be coming to dine with you. Thank you for a lovely evening.
The best.
Clearly a master piece, very good and unique use of fish. Complex favor yet with finishes. For the price, I think is very good. Given they will only be in this location for 2 more months before expansion, it will be interesting to see if they can maintain the level of cooking. I think service needs improve, should paid more attention to customers.
Such an intimate setting with great kitchen views, wonderful & attentive staff, & food that truly is inspirational. Highlight of our Sydney trip!
Nina was an absolute gem, and our whole experience was amazing. We were blown away with what Josh has created and everything he is doing with fish.
Excellent produce and smart dishes with a clear philosophy behind. We enjoyed our dinner and our interactions with the staff.
It s amazing what they do with seafood here. It s prepped in a way that is similar to meat in some dishes and there are very creative combos
Our 20th wedding anniversary and we were made to feel so welcome. Incredible food, so much attention to detail and flavours that would be impossible to recreate. We would highly recommend St Peter.
Second visit. Lives up to the hype. Would have Michelin Stars if possible in Australia
A three-hour impeccable dining experience that is worth every moment. My favorites are for sure the king whitening and garfish. The desserts brought another climax of the show. The service is also very welcoming.
Fantastic seafood restaurant. Elegant setting, friendly staff and beautiful food. Would love to come again
It s all been said before. A great unique dining experience. 5/5 for food , staff & experience.
Had a wonderful experience at Saint Peter. Excellent food and drinks. definitely recommend the calamari, swordfish empanadas, tiramisu, etc.
We enjoyed the personal service and attention to detail, watching the chefs and conversing with them made our experience so much more. Thank you for our anniversary card - that was very thoughtful. x
A wonderful dinner !! Amazing product freshly made .. the attention from the staff was also exquisite. The detail and effort they put in everything is mind blowing. Best place for seafood in Sidney
Very over rated. The food wasn t nearly as tasty as we d hoped. I appreciate the concept of not wasting food but this just takes the idea too literally. Not all parts of the fish are meant to be edible nor are they tasty. We didn t finish most of our food and as a pescatarian that is unusual at a seafood establishment.
Had such an amazing lunch at Saint Peter - incredibly inventive menu and a fantastic wine list!
Excellent tasting menu; really top quality seafood inventively prepared and presented. Great service too!! We really, really enjoyed our visit.
My partner and I had an exceptional dining experience at Saint Peter. The food was nothing short of amazing each dish bursting with unique flavors and beautifully crafted. The staff s knowledge and service were top-notch, making our evening truly special. We ll definitely be back and highly recommend everyone to savor this seafood gem!
I had a delightful experience at Saint Peter. The service was excellent. Each dish was beautifully presented, with the fish cooked to perfection. I appreciated their creative approach to the menu, which changes daily based on ingredient availability. The standout dishes for me were the salt and vinegar mackerel and charcoal rock flathead. However, some dishes, like the dry-aged yellowfin tuna, felt overly complex, detracting from the main ingredient. Overall I highly recommend Saint Peter to anyone seeking a seafood-filled culinary adventure.
Exceptional dining experience. Food was outstanding, staff were excellent.
One of the best food experiences I have ever had. The food was delicious and at times mind blowing. Service was incredible too - staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Had an amazing dining experience. Was blown away by the creativity and taste of food. The team looked after our dietary requirement with ease. The ambience is wonderful and service is top notch. Everyone behind the counter is highly passionate and knowledgeable about food and we had a great time chatting with them being foodies ourselves. The menu keeps changing up, so would definitely try to visit again.
Heavenly lunch at Saint Peter. The atmosphere is stylish, low-key, and clean. We really enjoyed the gorgeous under-sea paintings that put us right in the mood for some seafood. We d heard Chef Josh does fish unlike anyone else, so we had some level of high expectation and by the end of the meal, our expectations were met. We started with the charcuterie which was very unique fish prepared in such ways as mortadella, sausage and more. Next we had rich, briney mackerel doused in EVOO served with crackly sourdough and velvety butter. We were instructed to make little sandos. Feeling empowered to have some fun at such a high end joint was a cool feeling. We then had a dill-filled fresh salad and buttery bonito served atop a pine nut relish. This relish could ve been a tad less sweet, as the grapes in it overpowered the subtlety of the bonito. Perhaps the culinary highlight though was the dessert, a pitch-perfect lemon tart of ideal consistency, sourness, and sweetness. Truly an epic way to close things out. But our biggest and best shout out is reserved for our server Hayden, who might literally be the nicest, happiest Australian. He was a joy to have serving us, and wrote out a list of recs for the rest of our trip. Give that fella a raise!
Absolutely amazing. One of the best overall restaurant experiences Ive had in a long time. Innovative with substance and not just flair. The entire team worked seamlessly. I started with oysters and champs, and then the 7-course dinner and wine pairings started. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, I knew Id made the right decision in choosing Saint Peter for my last night in Sydney. This is one of those experiences you cant wait to share with your family and friends. Ill most definitely be back.
Good gosh, Saint Peter delivers on every front, doesn t it? Not certain what I enjoyed more, the service, the food or the ambiance My favourite part of the experience was sitting at the bar watching the incredible Chefs deliver dish after dish with passion, precision and love . Thank you for an incredible experience. I will certainly be back!
Overpriced for location and what it is, you could go to a Restaurant with Harbour views and same quality of food. I went with 2 other people(3 of us in total) I had 2 alcoholic drinks one of my friends had 1 the other none. Total cost including food was a close to a $1000 dollars. I m not a cheap skate I just felt it was expensive for what it was. You could go to Cafe Sydney or O bar and Dinning for less or similar amounts.
Exceeded very high expectations. Nolan s is a national treasure. Never had anything like it before. Complement ed beautifully with impeccable service. Can t wait to go back!
Arguably one of the most sophisticated and creative seafood restaurants in Sydney. Impeccable service, preparation and presentation. Very pricey but worth it if you re looking for something exceptional.
If Australia did Michelin (or Michelin did Australia) this would be 1-2 imho (have ate at many 1 to 3 stars in uk) engaging and interesting service, not pretentious but solid fine fish-based dining ( we did 7 course sampling plus pairing)
Service was impeccable! Food was yum and the staff took time to explain each dish to me. Very attentive staffs. I am tempted to go back and try other dishes. Unique concept by the Chef with seafood.
Had the best fish and restaurant experience ever. Cannot wait to go there again!
This was a fantastic meal with innovative cooking using unique ingredients. The service was exceptional as was the staffs knowledge. This was an out standing dinner.
Decent food, but overpriced, needs improvement What s good: every dish is delicious, very friendly staff What can be improved: 1) Can be more generous about the food portion (potentially more courses). For $214+pp(195+10% tips), we only get 3 starter and 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. You will still feel quite hungry after the entire meal, given the price you paid. 2) Seating was not roomy at all. No storage room for handbags, only couple of hangers under the bar table. 3) For this price level, we don t get any hand towels to fresh up during the meal, they can definitely do better. 4) There was a discretionary 10% tip on the final bill (as explained on the menu). But you have to explicitly tell them to take it off, otherwise they will charge you without asking. It makes us feel uncomfortable and mandatory.
I cannot express our gratitude to your incredible team. The service was on an international scale of 10. The food incredibly sexy and had us wanting more. We will be back!!! Your team created a memory that will last forever.
An incredible amazing dining experience. The Chief & The Staff delivered at a high level. Every plate was carefully prepared and so much effort goes into each dish. The beverages are also special. I would highly recommend if you up for different , unique dining surprise. . It was certainly a surprise and pleasure to be part of . Thank You !
Everything from start to finish was flawless! We had the new menu that was outstanding! So delighted we have this world-class restaurant in Sydney.
We had the most wonderful lunch experience at Saint Peter and first and foremost I want to thank the staff for making me feel the love and care they have for this place and making me feel extra special on my birthday. The lunch tasting menu was the perfect way to enjoy all the signature dishes and understand their passion for anything the ocean has to offer. The charcuterie was mind-blowing and now I want flathead mortadella everyday of my life!! The oysters were all so good, Sydney Rock from different areas, we tried them all! The mackerel was delicious, and the meal ended with a Valrhona chocolate tart topped with caviar, amazing! Definitely coming back for dinner one day! Or better yet, can you open one in Melbourne? Amazing place!!
A brilliant service from start to end - all team members played their roles to perfection. Not only was the menu inventive but absolutely delicious. Hubby declared Saint Peter his new favourite restaurant. Keep up the awesome work!
Fantastic experience. Exceptional food quality and dishes on par with noma (seafood season) or some even better. 100% recommended.
One to the best meals we have ever had. Excellent service, staff had extensive knowledge of food and wine. Food and pairing was spot on. Would love to go back next time in Sydney
Amazing food and outstanding service. Best fish in Australia! Food
What an incredible meal! Every dish was mindblowingly delicious. I am still thinking about that fish charcuterie..
Absolutely loved this place - the service, the food, ambience. Amazing knowledge from the staff and so engaging!
Had a lovely time at St Peters. The amount of creativity + thought that is put into each dish is top notch. Ive found a newfound appreciation for how fish could be manipulated head-to-tail to become out of the norm dishes. Will be back to see what the team comes up with next. Keep up the great work!
The best place for seafood lovers, great service & cocktails as well. Have been here a few times now & it never disappoints.
This was one of the most sensational foodie experiences Ive had in a while. The food was amazing...hard to believe some of those dishes were fish and not red meat! I loved the creativity, freshness and flavours of the food. Very filling! The staff were so friendly and really took care of us. The drinks menu is beautifully created to accompany the food. Saint Peter has been on the list for a long time, and was so worth the wait!
We went the other night for the seven course dinner. The service was amazing. The ambience was lovely, and the setting was excellent. The food for us was unfortunately underwhelming. Our expectation based off the sample menu and the price PP to be charged was that the quality of the fish would be of the highest grade, fish such as King George Whiting, blue fin tuna, Orange roughy, coral trout, John Dory, Toothfish, etc. some of which were in the sample menu. We were also expecting different species of fish across each course with so many species currently in season. However, we were served 2 courses of mackerel (blue and spotted) which are both of similar taste. The species has very high oil content which gives it a very strong fishy smell and taste. Unfortunately after tasting it, we were unable to stomach the rest. We appreciate that some people might like the species, but for us it s just way too fishy to eat especially when very lightly cooked and / or served raw. We were also served yellow fin tuna which to our palate was quite average in taste as well. Also, be prepared if you order oysters that they are served at room temperature. Whilst they were fresh and very tasty our personal preference is for them to be served chilled. We appreciate the concept and the technique. We understand that it is a changing menu. Perhaps our personal experience would have been better with different fish choices.
Saint Peter restaurant is an epitome of culinary excellence, where every dish tells a story of innovation and passion. A pop-in in the heart of the Paddington, its not just a dining experience; its a journey through flavors that redefine the boundaries of aquatic gastronomy. The cuisine at Saint Peter is nothing short of revolutionary. Each dish is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, blending traditional techniques with avant-garde concepts to create a symphony of flavors that dance on your palate. Delicate seafood creations to hearty you would think it is meat dishes, every bite is a revelation, leaving you craving for more. And lets talk about their divine oysters. Freshly sourced from the finest waters, these gems of the sea are served with utmost reverence, including the fresh shuck, accentuating their natural brininess and delicate texture. Each oyster is a testament to the restaurants commitment to sourcing the best ingredients and treating them with the respect they deserve. But what truly sets Saint Peter apart is the incredible heartfelt connection from the staff. From the moment you step through the door, youre greeted with warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like you are part of the experience. The kitchen pours their soul into every dish, while the servers guide you through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and knowledge. Its not just about serving food; its about creating memorable experiences that linger in your heart long after the meal is over. In short, Saint Peter is more than just a restaurant; its a culinary sanctuary where innovation meets tradition, and every moment is infused with passion and joy. Its no wonder that its hailed as a beacon of excellence in the dining scene, where food is not just a necessity but a celebration of life itself. Lawrence
This was the best meal I had for my time in Sydney. I cannot recommend the restaurant enough. Great work everyone. The food, the service, it was all really well executed and presented with care. Thank You again.
Absolutely loved the experience. Staff was fantastic, food superb and vibe was perfect. If you like fine dining, you must try to book a seat at this wonderful jewel.
We started with a plate with the full selection of oysters. They were exceptionally delicious. We then had the Tasting Menu. I love their food philosophy, their creativity, the helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff and the service they provided. However, the best thing was the flavour of the dishes we got to eat! Its not cheap but its well worth it for a dining experience of this calibre.
Quite simply, our favourite restaurant in Sydney. A long boozy wonderful Sunday lunch:1. The team cooking and serving are really good. Nice mix of efficiency and time to explain the food. Nice chef with tattoo sleeve came along and described each dish in a good way. The serving team very good at suggestions and a bit of friendly banter. 2. Cocktails excellent and good wine list (although we would like to see more Aussie Rieslings). 3. The main event of course is the food. This is absolutely exceptional. So much so that we ordered two rounds of the starter Empanada & the Mortadella (with a Hungarian Langos base - last time I had one of these back in 1981 on Lake Balaton). I also loved the fish live pate and the tuna charcuterie. The presentation is exceptional and the tastes out of this world. Sitting writing this on Monday morning still smiling at the thought of the food and experience. Adam
Amazing experience all around. Food was incredibly well prepared and pushed the limits of what I ve seen done with fish. Service was immaculate, and the seating is comfortable bar chairs where you can watch the chefs plate your dishes. Overall, 5/5 experience and best seafood restaurant in Australia. Definitely plan on coming back next time we re in Sydney! Menu changes every day, but generally small dishes are in the 15-30 AUD range and mains are 50-60. We did mostly starters to get a wide variety and enjoyed that for lunch.
Ive been here 2 times, and everything was perfect. High quality of food and service. But wine prices are overpriced. Food : 5/5
Overall great experience though I do still miss the old a la carte restaurant. Most of the dishes were good but probably only one stand out. Would have been a 4 but took one away for the mandatory tipping. This isn t America, pay your own staff. Increase the price of the food if you have too.
December was my month to try new Sydney restaurants and I ve saved the best for last @saintpeterpaddo They call it an Australian fish eatery but it s so much more than that. A whole fish approach that results in dishes you just won t find anywhere else. There s charcuterie, dry aging and funky things with impeccable ingredients - Murray Cod Chorizo was scrumptious and apparently the Fish Eye Ice Cream is impressive but I didn t get that far. I did manage to squeeze in some Chips & Seaweed Salt and they re a serious contender for the best ever list. Best of all, it was fun! I love the long marble counter where every seat has a view of the dishes being plated but we secured the coveted window counter with a view of Oxford Street and what better way to enjoy lunch than watching the Paddo locals go about their very serious business! Service is exceptional and Josh Niland s relationship with seafood is exciting. It s easy to see why he was named Chef of The Year
Amazing night! Incredible food and service! My partner and I loved it! I have wanted to go for so long and am so happy we got to try it! Great wine list too! Food : 5/5 |
Food was amazing!! The oysters were best Ive had. Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Amazing experience at Saint Peter. The wine pairing was exceptional, the dishes were absolutely delicious. The flavours were amazing. The wait staff were wonderful, particularly the Italian lady. It was delightful. 10/10 especially for our last minute booking. Dietary restrictions: My partner couldn t have ginger and the adapted a dish for her.
I was gifted this experience for Christmas and was so delightfully impressed by the whole experience last night. I love to be educated on what I eat and loved how the staff knew exactly where the food was sourced for the menu that day. 1000% recommend Saint Peter.
Delicious and original food, great philosophy of not wasting anything. Great wine selection too!
Very nice experience in this restaurant with an original concept. A real delight with impeccable service, very professional staff. Menu that changes every day with fresh products!
One of the best seafood experiences I loved that seafood was really the heart of the plate and was prepared with fire. The delicacy was to taste, see and feel. The only reason for at Saint Peter doesnot have a Michelin Star is that Michelin doesnot operate in Australia yet.The service was sublime and I really love the calm and authenticity which is in the kitchen. As guest you er invited inside the ocean.Thank you for introducing me to the Sea Urchin SincerelyFarideh from Copenhagen Dietary restrictions: Can adjust to gluten-free
The Emperor has no clothes. There I said it. If you didnt watch them painstakingly make it and explain what you were eating you wouldnt rate it so highly. The taste was not there. A lot of it didnt taste of nice fish but rather aimed to be faux meat esp the charcutery. I felt there was a lot of pretence in the menu but the dishes themselves really lacked flavour. The fact that the fish dishes are dry aged 5-14 days means it is not the taste of fresh fish. At $220 pp (mandatory 10% tip), definitely a skip for me. Service was excellent + 1 star. But it aint for the food
Beautiful food, one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney
Small and intimate, which allows for an exceptionally personalised service. Staff always just seem to know when to approach without being intrusive. There is nothing worse than having a mouth full of food and being interrupted by staff asking questions. It is an open kitchen so patrons can see how the food is being prepared and can also interact with the chefs. We had a wonderful chat with a young, very talented chef. The food was exceptional, 6 different region oysters, freshly shucked, amazing. Blue eye travella with smoked eggplant is to die for. The Lemon meringue pie was the best I have ever tasted. As a former chef myself I know what I am talking about. I have never been to a place like this before and it doesnt disappoint. Pricey but highly recommended, we will definitely be going again.
If I could give 10 stars I would always love the food and the atmosphere here must visit
