Mouthful of pure GREASE ! First and last time ordering from here. Not even real chicken. FAKE chicken and no taste only grease! Dripping in grease! Soo guy chicken, lemon chicken and chicken chow mein and fried noodles. All GREASY and NO TASTE RUN for your health away from here! Another $30 wasted! On garbage take out
The food was pretty good however the service was lacking. The young waiter didn’t serve us frequently enough. We wanted more water and napkins but waited more than 30 minutes before another and final table visit. Also the dining room isn’t the nicest. Dirty windowsills, Christmas decorations in July. I probably wouldn’t come back.
The service was excellent and didn't take long for the food to come and when it did come, it was awesome. It's authentic dim sum and exactly what we were looking for. Five stars
Return here to enjoy my favourite asian foods. We got delicious Dim Sum, Lamb stick and Spicy Sichuan beef so very satisfied.
When you have a craving for dim sum, go to this place. It's a short drive on the outskirts of the city. I'm quite sure it's the only one in the St. John's area with dim sum till 3 pm daily. When I went, not every item i wanted was available. Washrooms surprisingly clean. Service - typical. I can tell they're Northern Chinese (tastes) but not bad for what it is, where it is, e.g. shrimp dumpling shell is thicker and not crystal/ translucent. Beef rice noodle has cabbage and carrots and greasier than preferred. (Although, I do like cabbage.) BBQ pork buns and siu mai - my wife liked. Pricing - more compared to GTA for what you get but everything on the Rock is gonna be more expensive. Overall, at least 3.5. I hope this place lasts as most available is N.A. Chinese. Would likely return when in the area again.
This was my first time visiting the Jin Dragon. The food is decent and the portions are large. The gentleman who served us was polite, but he just laid forks and knives together on the table and we had to lay them out ourselves. No big deal, many restaurants in the city are struggling right now for servers. But a when a sharable dish arrived we had to ask for plates? Eeek The meal looked incredible on the plate but it lacked flavor. It was Ok but compared to some of the other chinese options in St. John's it was Meh. The Cantonese Chow Mein was the best dish.
I really loved the place, it looked very traditional and the waiters were very kind. The food was really delicious and spectacular. My friends and I ordered 10 dishes. We both thought we were not going to finish it but we did! I really liked the idea of you have to finish the dishes you order or need to pay of the food you left. There was a wide variety of dishes offered at a reasonable price for the quantity given too!You leave fully satisfied without breaking the bank. This place is a treasure.
If you're a fan of dim sum, then you absolutely have to check out this restaurant just opened recently. It's hands down the best dim sum spot in town, and I'd even go as far as saying it's some of the best I've ever had. The dim sum here is simply outstanding. Everything is freshly made to order, and you can really taste the difference. The har gow and siu mai are both must-tries - the shrimp in the har gow is plump and juicy, while the siu mai is bursting with flavor. The char siu bao is also a standout - the bun is pillowy soft, and the barbecued pork inside is tender and savory. But it's not just the classics that shine here - the restaurant also offers some really creative and delicious options in their traditional Chinese menu. All in all, I can't recommend this restaurant enough. The dim sum is absolutely fantastic, and the overall experience is just delightful. So if you're in the mood for some seriously delicious food, head on over and give it a try!
Delicious food and very reasonable price
Love it.
Great dim sum. Attentive service.
The environment is good, the venue is spacious, the food is served quickly, and the food is delicious and authentic, not inferior to the Chinese food in Toronto! Parking: Parking is very convenient
The food was very delicious. We are from Montreal and this is the best Asian restaurant in St. John s in our opinion. Strongly recommend.
Would go back again for dim sum. Food was delicious; our group had a variety of dishes.
food was amazing; tried a few authentic traditional dishes and it was very good. waiter that served us didn t seem enthused to serve us. on phone and wasn t really informative when asked questions about gluten free options. generalized that all the dishes weren t glutten free but the singapore noodles on the menu seemed like it was gluten free. and it was. so i m not sure if he was just cranky and disinterested. other than that, food was great. left a tip to him anyway. i recommend others to try. Vegetarian options: lots of stir fry. but it would be nice to have the indications in the menu what s vegetarian or other dietary needs like gluten free.
The food is delicious and they are so sweet and polite when talking to us! Tks for preparing no spicy noodles for my kids! They love your food!
Excellent food. Portion size for each dish adequate. Value OK. Two for dinner
My first visit. Service was fast and friendly. Food was awesome and the price was fair. I m pretty sure I ll visit every week. Great place
My wife and I had a brunch here. As a dim sum lover, it is a surprise to me to have such an authentic dim sum restaurant in Newfoundland. We ordered a feast of dim sum and had to pack some. For most of the dishes, we were very satisfied. However, the steaming tripe was not well-seasoned and even a bit cold due to the lack of steaming time. Here is the -1 star on food, and I hope the kitchen management will be more careful in the future. Overall, the food was delicious, the price was fair, the service was great, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the parking lot was big. I feel like the restaurant is better than most dim sum restaurants in Shenzhen, China, where I spent several months last year. It is a sad side story of the degeneration of the restaurant industry in many cities in mainland China, but anyway, I am happy to have a nice dim sum restaurant here, and will 10/10 try it again.
Chicken balls was the best part of this meal. Nice big pieces of chicken. Honey garlic chicken ribs had no flavor on them. Egg rolls were not tasty at all no taste to the chicken chow mein. . Looks and presentation of the plates were awesome.
Dim Sum is absolutely amazing! If you want a unique experience, l highly recommend. They also have an authentic Chinese menu, l will be trying that next time around!!
Amazing dim sum, great service. Will be back
Ordered the dinner for 2 tonight with 2 egg rolls. The egg rolls were not good at all, different from any other time we have eaten from there, and the rest of the food had next to no taste at all, extremely disappointed. we had enjoyed thier food many times before but tonight was the worse ever. When we got there to pick it up, it wasnt ready, ok no big deal, but when we got it home (less Than .3 klms) it was cold.So very disappointed with it all tonight. I might give it just one more try in the future but only one, and if it happens again its back to yes wok
I like the dim sum there. Really good! Will try other dishes.
Best dim sim in the city
Love this place, nice food nice service
The decor is beautiful and the food is delicious. I like Yangzhou fried rice, fried crispy milk, Shanghai steamed buns, and Niuhe.
Always fresh and delicious, every, single time!
Great selection of dim sum.
AMAZING! We re lucky to have such good dim sum and more traditional menu items here in Newfoundland. Definitely recommend.
Dim sum was fresh and homemade. A bit pricey with medium sized portions but the quality and freshness is there. Service was very polite as well
It didnot taste good at all ..worst Chinese food I have ever tasted
Loved it. Definitely back again.
Absolutely delicious. Ill be back.
Great Dim Sum and traditional Chinese dishes!
Came to try the featured dim sum experience, to find out it s for lunchtime only. The food we got instead was terrible. Chicken ball and beef broccoli combo. General tao chicken. Shanghai noodles. It s soaked in oil, sugary sauces, bland, and the chicken tasted day-old. Nothing was fresh or tasty. I have a stomach ache almost immediately. And somehow the general tao chicken tasted like breakfast cereal soaked in sugar. Price was too high as well, 51,00$ before tip. Won t be returning.
Please change the time that you close. Ive attempted to order at this restaurant numerous times after 9pm and cannot get an answer.
Have visited twice and seems the restaurant is closed. Please update the status so that it doesnt cause confusion.
Fresh. Either standard chinese food or authentic is available. Clean. Friendly.
Amazing dim sum, comparable to dim sum in Toronto
The traditional Chinese food is pretty good!
Great food!!
I really enjoyed the food, a little bit of a language barrier but Im happy with my meal! Clean interior too!
I loved there Food very tasty and full of MSG LOVES ITTTTTT!!!!!!!
Good food
So good. Fast service. Reasonable prices. One of the best in st. Johns!
Excellent dim sum. First time Ive had the chance to have dim some in St. Johns. Will certainly be returning.
Delicious as always
Jin Dragon is the best! Their dim sum on the weekends is a dream. Highly recommend going with friends/family on a Saturday or Sunday!
Good food
Best dumplings Ive had! Cant wait to go back, loved every dish and the prices cant be beat! Always get the BBQ pork buns and fried dumplings, you wont be disappointed!
Its the best Chinese food that I ever had anywhere that will be going back there again its sad that theyll be leaving my area the 31st of December but I will be visiting the place before it shuts down there at that location and moves out to Paradise I loved it
Excellent taste. Tried some beef, chicken and lamb dishes. Didnt actually remember the names of the dishes but It was really good food. It is not expensive but have one of the best dishes on town. Their brunch is also very good with lot of options
Great food & good quantities, lots of options too! Very cool to see more emphasis on traditional food over canadian-chinese. I will certainly be back
Always an excellent meal, with great portions and reasonable prices. Would especially recommend their Dim Sum menu available on Saturday and Sunday.
Best food in St.Johns. try the dumplings, guy ding and the chicken soo guy for sure.
Everything was superb
I love the food, customer service is average, but the ambiance and cleanliness needs more attention.
Was very pleased with the speed the food was ready(estimated 20, ready in 10). Ordered lemon chicken, hot and sour soup and an egg roll. The lemon chicken was great, after having sub par lemon chicken around town(bland, tasteless yellow sugar sauce in a container) it was refreshing to finally find somewhere that had a very flavorful and zesty sauce. Chicken quality was decent, compared to other places around it was great, not a small sliver of chicken in a 4inch thick greasy batter. Hot and sour soup was excellent, super rich and savory with a nice combo of spicy flavor. The perfect hangover cure. Egg roll was your standard eggroll, crispy, and tasty. Its hard to screw this up but Ive certainly seen it done. Overall I will definitely be back, I look forward to trying their dimsum menu as well as some of their authenic dishes as they sound/look delicious.
Great food
Lemon chicken two small pieces
Our favourite Chinese food in Town.
Lovely food, fresh & so good!
Good food and prices
Great Chinese food. Try there duck is the best in city.
Great price for the quality.
Our go-to place for Canadian Chinese food in St Johns. He General Chicken is a personal favorite.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in the city, but unfortunately some of their recipes have changed in the past while
Always fresh food!!!!!! Very friendly staff!!!!!
Very friendly service..food was good.
Went to Jin dragon in search of good dim sum and it did not disappoint! Comparable to dim sum in Toronto and they make all dishes from scratch! The chef actually changed - used to work for a really popular Chinese Halifax restaurant. Food is super authentic, so satisfying!!
AMAZING Dimsum! From Toronto originally and the quality is definitely on par. The service was friendly and the food was made fresh. Definitely will return!
Plenty of good food and nice people (I only did 4 stars instead of 5 because I may have ordered to much).
Just good hot food and fresh
Quick service. Portion sizes arent excessive but you do get more than enough. Vegetable ingredients seemed fairly fresh. Pricing was good, about fifty buck tax in for dinner for 4 take away. Staff was friendly and eating area, though basic, was bright and clean.
Great dim sum!
Been back and forth to this resto for the last few months. They serve the most authentic Chinese good in St Johns. They also have dim sum on weekends which is the best/only one in town. They have a Chinese and English menu. If you are adventurous, you can order off the Chinese menu as they have pictures of all the food on the wall.
Perfect, the food is made withbpssion and love
Great authentic Chinese food so flavourful
Awesome tasty
tasty
Slow service and needs a good cleaning
Hit or miss. Sometimes delicious, sometimes not so much. Noodles are much better than the fried rice.
Ordered food from this restaurant the other night, absolutely delicious, new favourite Chinese place!
The food is great
I really enjoyed the food here and I like thier chicken balls
I love the food, I love the family. The food is fresh, accommodating, delicious, and most take out is fast! Thank you for your nourishment for the last few years <3
Best place for Chinese takeout near downtown.
Very good food. First time getting take away and it was very tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was huge. Great flavors, will be back again.
Little awkward to sit down and eat but great food !
Awesome food, great hot and sour soup
Excellent Food and Service
Great service
Food freshly made while you wait. No buffet.
Great food and service. Cant recommend enough
Love their food.delicious
Excellent quality and consistency of food! Good variety too!
The only place in St. Johns for authentic dim sum (Sat and Sun). Just as they would serve it on the mainland Chinatowns of Montreal, Toronto, etc :)
Great service..very nice people..great food..cant wait to go back to the old B&B Snack Bar.. now Jin Dragon..my new spot around town for Asian feast..dim sum on the weekend too!!
Come on the weekend for the dim sum. The egg tarts are amazing
A bit old and disheveled but the service was great as were the food and prices. I will be back.
Great
Was bland and gave me a pain in the guts, misses b&b
Great food at reasonable prices
Good food and nice place to eat in.
Rather delicious food, with a large variety of options, all of which are reasonably priced. They also deliver.
Ive been here a bunch of times, and enjoy the variety of different dishes they serve with combos that other Chinese places dont have or offer. However, last time I had it i got food poison. I was sick for about 3 days. I havent had it sense. To bad I miss the lemon chicken. But the beef and broccoli is a disastrous! I think they use gravy for the sauce. PASS on that.
Ok grub. Nothing to get excited about
Great food. Very flavorful and lots of good for the price.
Super flavorful. Steaming hot. Also very fresh, not reheated. And they actually use real chicken for their chicken balls! Will definitely be returning in near future
Chicken balls are okay, beef and broccoli was terrible, rice was terrible and a bad smell across my nose from somewhere in the restaurant, the tables were dirty and sticky, felt like walking back out after I ordered but I mistakingly never, would never eat here again
the staff are extremely kind. you get a lot of food for the price and its delicious. I highly recommend their lemon chicken
Good food at a reasonable price. Try the Singapore noodles!
Excellent food every time, Generous portions and Fair Pricing.
Best spot in the area for Chinese food. Good portions, great quality. I wasnt fussy the first time, but its now my go to spot. Highly recommended
Good food. I go there regularly :) :)
Fresh hot food with generous portions at fair pricing.
Frequent guests. Oversize portions, super quick and always delicous.
I have tried Jin Dragon twice. Both times I have been pleasantly surprised by how good 1 part of the meal is, but generally disappointed with the rest. As they are so hit and miss I will only comment on the dishes I tried. Wonton soup: Really great broth, good wontons. Unfortunately the greens in it are overpowering (texture wise and there are a lot of them), and the pork is very bland. Lemon chicken: Wonderfully sweet and lemony, Chinese-Canadian food. Deep friend chicken in a sweet lemony sauce, if you like the sound of that you will love this. Cantonese Chow Mein: Very very very different from what Im used to. The noodles are good. The sauce is overbearingly sweet, and the goodies in the sauce werent good quality. The veggies werent bad, but the meat tasted bad. BBQ Pork Slices: Good flavour, but a very small amount of flavour. As well every piece of the pork was very dry. Ginger Beef: Had a good taste, with excellent large amounts of ginger and beef, with an authentic taste. Unfortunately it looked like sludge. Egg foo young: This was one of the wonderful surprises. I cant say anything negative about it. It had a great taste, smell, texture, and it was exactly what I ordered.
