While visiting Pembroke I found this gem! Nick's has been at this same location since 1969, I had their fried chicken for dinner one night and I went back the next day to try their pizza. The 3 piece chicken meal was incredible and the gravy put a smile on my face. I could tell the recipe for the gravy was from an old school Greek diner chef, made from scratch with the right ingredients. You can't find gravy like that anymore, not even in some of the old school Greek/Italian diners. The chicken was tender and juicy, the flavor was amazing and the crisp was just right. Look, put it this way, there are two other fried chicken franchises in Pembroke both very close to Nick's, one is actually across the street and Nick's is still standing strong. That should tell you something about how good the chicken is at Nick's. After that experience I just knew I had to go back for the pizza. First thing is first, old school stone oven! Not garbage conveyor oven, so I knew their pizza was going to be much better then the average. Second everything they make is from scratch from the dough to the sauce and the dips. They gave me two of their home made dips to try, one tasted like a buffalo BBQ sauce and the other was like a tzatziki or garlic dip, they were both great. I preferred the tzatziki but that's just personal preference. The pizza didn't disappoint, it was far from the franchise garbage. Next time I go back to Pembroke, I will check out the chicken wings and their old school submarine sandwiches. If you're in Pembroke please check this place out, you won't be disappointed. It's a great little store, mainly take out, it is very clean, has easy parking, the food is incredible and the staff is polite, helpful and friendly.
just enjoyed Nicks fish and chips for the first time. Top Shelf meal in our opinion. The fish was huge and very tasty. My kids absolutely love how it comes in a pizza box. The portion size was very generous and quite filling. Would Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a superb dinner for themselves or a entire family. Thanks to everyone at Nicks chicken and pizza for a terrific Sunday Dinner!
Tried nicks for the first time labor day weekend and was very impressed. We went in as we wanted steak subs and while waiting we were chatting with the staff. They were real friendly telling us about how they use only fresh chicken they cut, brine, and coat themselves. They also make their own sauces. It was enough to convince us to grab the chicken also with the sauces on the side. We were not disappointed. We will be back again next time we are in the area. I don't know why anyone would go to the kfc across the road with nicks right there.
Great pizza, each slice was 4 inches, well cooked. The chicken wings were good but the knockout was in there house made sauces, so much great flavour I had to dip my pizza in. Thank you guys so much, keep killin it!!
I had the fried chicken take out and it smell sooooo good and it was very tasty! Will definitely recommend!!!
Not sure why are they super expensive for a small town!! I come from Toronto, so this place is nothing compare to the places we have in the big city.. someone recommended and was disappointed. Normal pizza tasting and the fried chicken had a weird taste to them. Fries were stale and really not good. From all the food we got we only finished the pizza the rest were unfortunately thrown in the garbage. 2 stars for the service and the polite lady that took the order.. other than that never again!
So we were really looking forward to this based on different reviews we had seen. Pizza was on point… fresh, tasty, lots of cheese and cooked to perfection. Chicken was proper size and quality chicken was used, however the flavor just didn’t hit the mark. Four of us all shared it and came to the same conclusion, not the world’s best chicken(not even Pembroke's best). Not likely to return unfortunately, not that it was terrible… just terribly expensive for what you get.
Absolutely awesome pizza. Made a trip to Pembroke just for it. Same as when i was a kid! Awesome. He gave us chicken to try while we were there. Omg, it is pressure fried, so it is so crispy on the outside, and so juicy and tasty on the inside. It's the type of chicken, that when you take a bite, you close your eyes for a second and just enjoy every chew. Then you let out, that OMG "Sigh" The pizza is almost the same, high quality ingredients, and the best pizza cheese that can be purchased! You do not have to order extra cheese..because the cheese is piled high and melted to perfection.

Food was ok, coleslaw is bland and prices are way too high. We now only go here about once a year! A pizza and chicken should not cost over $100 for 3 people. Ridiculous!

Nicks has changed the flavor of the chicken. I noticed something was up when the color was lighter than I remembered. The flavor was not the same, so I was very disappointed. I never had an issue with the pricy chicken, but once the flavor changed I said never again.

Hands down the best subs, pizza and spaghetti around. I travelled from Windsor area and automatically order from here. Never disappoints. Ever.
Just had the fish n chips special at Nicks and it was the best I have ever had. We stayed down east for a while and ate a lot of fish n chips and this beats it. Homemade tartar sauce was 10/10. Fish was fresh and crispy and we hope they keep it on the menu! Customer service is always 10/10 at Nicks and you can expect the best food in town.

I love chicken - could eat it everyday so, I m always on the lookout for a good quality chicken restaurant. My husband and I went to Nick s shortly after we moved to the area and I can say - this is the absolute best chicken out of the countless restaurants that I have gone to specifically for chicken. The chicken is beautifully cooked, moist, tender, full of flavour and - most importantly - I eat it all. I am a super fussy eater so to say I eat it all is a huge compliment. On another note - Nick s has an excellent poutine. I upgrade my fries to poutine - most excellent combo with the chicken. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I would love to see them expand to have more eat-in space. Other than this, I strongly recommend Nick s to anyone that enjoys exceptional, flavourful, moist chicken - cooked perfectly every time. If you re a chicken fan - look no further than Nick s. My husband is a pizza fan and usually gets the Hawaiian pizza - it is another excellent menu choice. If you like dip with your pizza - Nick s has a number of made in house options. Like all of Nick s food - excellent taste.
So good everything from the subs to pizza the poutine and chicken
We usually order, small lasagna for the Mrs and the 5 piece chicken dinner , 10yrs now , once or twice a month , our recent order the lasagna was perfect, the Chicken again not 3 pieces of wings a greasy drumstick and another piece of chicken , not a chicken breast that must have been sitting for a while that the skin had separated from the chicken , I did stop going to Nicks for a bit but thought Id give it a go again , same thing , like Forest Gump said about a box of Chocolate , Ill say this about Nicks Chicken, You never know what your going to get!! .not going to waste my $49.00 + again .
Ils was recommended by a friend as the best chicken in petawawa and pembrook and it was not a lie. The chicken was amazing the fries and the incredible everything was just great. We even got a little bit of service in French by the staff. Everything was very very good

Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Unbelievably good chicken. There s a KFC across the street and I guarantee it loses money. Haven t tried the pizza but next time I m through I m making it a priority. Fantastic work y all.

WAY OVER PRICED!! I wasnt paying attention at the time of payment, if I had theres no way I would have agreed to this. $45 for 2 - chicken finger dinner. The fries are dried out The bun is dried out Coslaw is mediocre The chicken tasted fine, but the pieces were small, No butter was given for the bun The condiments given are 1 of each. - 1 ketchup - 1 vinegar - 1 salt - 1 paper They said dinner would be ready in 10-15 minutes. This was correct. Honestly, if I had to choose between waiting 2 hours at KFC for this same meal or 10-15 minutes at Nicks Chicken House. I would choose KFC. It may take 1 hr. 45 minutes longer than it should, but at least I would be getting a decent meal. Thats not all dried out!!!!

Chicken from here is amazing. Not sure what they mean by flavour crisp but Im fairly certain its broasted. Very crispy and juicy. The pizza is meh, not sure why people love it. Lots of cheese and lunch meat for pepperoni. The food here is on the pricier side but its a small business, not something corporate, support local.

We always order Chicken for him and I get the Nicks Special Sub, the last time it wasnt great, tonight it was worse - the sub-bun was hard and the sub was very salty. It is a 25 minute drive otherwise I would have gone back. I wont go there again.

Badly-managed small town interpretation of cheap eyetalian, with no resemblance to anything Italian or even fresh. East Side Marios is better quality than this hole in the wall, and several levels cleaner.

New York city may have pizza for this price, . So we decided on the chicken. I offered to pay more for white meat cut in a meal deal. Answer was NO.. But for 5 bucks you can buy an extra. I guess they have the market cornered. Well maybe not there are many other choices in town. Food was ok though, coleslaw
The last thing I want to do is to hurt a local business, but I had to write a review. We ordered food from Nicks Chicken House & Pizzeria on December 29th for my mom s birthday dinner. I had never had their pizza so why not try it, first I couldn t believe the price for a medium three topic, over $40 so I expected it to be out of this world good. It wasn t and I got a few extras in my pizza (not one but two hairs) not hard to believe since they weren t wearing hair nets and no masks were being worn (I thought everyone had to wear a mask, especially during this pandemic). I called right away to complain, spoke to the manager, and he told me he was sorry, and they would give us a pizza for free which I appreciated it. Reluctant to eat it again we went today (Jan 14) to get our pizza and their response was next time we want to see the hair. I was shocked, I guess I should have taken a picture of the hairs, but I was so disgusted I just threw out the pizza. I personally won t be going back.
My first impression when I walked in was Why would I pay gourmet prices at a fast food place and almost walked out. But I was there and I was cold so I said heck with it pay and eat. I do not regret it at all. The Onion Rings were crips and tasty,, The Nicks Special pizza was amazing, word of advice small pizza is almost dinner for 3 as its loaded, and the chicken was juicy and flavourful. Its not a place I can afford all the time but will stop in when ever I am passing though Pembroke again.

Still the absolute best pizza and chicken to be found anywhere in the Ottawa Valley. This place is becoming historic. Their menu features subs, honestly lasagne and spaghetti. Excellent value, excellent quality. Do yourself a favor and enjoy some amazing take out from Nicks.

Im not taken aback by it. Price is a little high. Lots of toppings on the pie, for me too much cheese ( I know ) Chicken is fine, fries a little bleh.

Gonna be in the Valley for a day or 2 or more. Want some pizza. Well you better be hungry and ready for a treat. The Nicks Special is my personal Fav, but all there food from pizza, to chicken, to subs is beyond amazing and total mouth watering pleasing. Highly recommend you check this place out, even if its the only place that you get to grab takeout from. You will not be disappointed, and you will not be left with an empty belly. You will have leftovers and they are just as good if not better. Yes it comes with a price tag, but every good meal does. Its worth the extra coin to get a meal like this, and this is a treat remember, so dont worry about it and enjoy! Food is very expensive, so we dont take out very often, but it is made with high quality ingredients. The pizzas, subs, and fried chicken are always amazing! Too bad that an order of a large 3 topping pizza and 9 piece chicken package comes out to close to a hundred bucks. But boy, the taste Fiesta!!
I ordered wings and fries. The 2 dozen wings were very small and really overcooked. At a cost of 40 for 24 wings it should of been better. 75 dollars for wings, fries and onion rings. My money will be better spent elsewhere. Food : 2/5
Only the best chicken in the house
Had the pepperoni pizza yesterday , was very basic not much pepperoni, plain crust fairly dense , the sauce was flavourless, definitely not worth $44.80 ! Frozen pizza is better.
The most expensive pizza I have ever seen. They have raised their prices considerably in the past while by over 25 percent. Wonder if the lack of dine in has something to do with it. See attached menu.

Best food period ! Owner and family lovely people. Great cooks and staff. Know him for over 40 years ! My wife Deborah worked for him when he first opened . She still loves the food and says John still makes it original and slacks on nothing ! And I m picky about my chicken

The food is really good here from there subs to there pizza and chicken they even have pretty decent poutine here and personally its one of the best places in town to get chicken only complaint I have is the food is very pricey have spent over 100$ for meals for a family

Was a little pricey. But. WORTH EVERY PENNY. By far. The best pizza and wings i have ever eaten. Pizza was great. Very little grease. The toppings even stayed on. No burnt crust. Was amazing in every way. They even randomly threw in some chicken on the house. Which was also unreal. My fav pizza place for sure. The girl working was really nice and friendly.

Best Pizza I have ever had and I have travelled and ate pizza all over North America. Their chicken is great to. I grew up in Pembroke but live elsewhere now and it is he first stop I make when I am in town. Only problem is... when you eat Nicks Pizza you can never find another that is half as good so you pretty much stop eating pizza until you get up to the Valley

Had both the pizza and the chicken this past weekend. The pizza is good, but the crust is too thick. And the chicken is great for sure, but I can only give 3 stars due to the cost. When one pays $75 for a medium pizza and 12 pieces of chicken they both had better knock your socks off. So close, but just cant justify 4 stars.
Chicken was fantastic as always! I just cant do 5 starts cause like everyone I wish it was a little cheaper lol I would order more often.

We really enjoyed our experience here. My partner loved his chicken snack combo and the pizza that we shared was very delicious. The pizza is also loaded with cheese. The price is high but for a treat it was definitely worth it.

After sitting in a car for 3 hours, these old bones were having a difficult time going up the stairs....the young male cashier at 1pm today came out and opened the door for me. This was the first time here for me, and I could not get over how big and Beatty the pieces were. AWESOME!

I grew up as a teen in Pembroke and Nicks Chicken was a weekly must have on a Friday or Saturday night! Nick is very dedicated to the specific and labor intensive process to ensure that every carefully prepared food item he sells is just right! His friend chicken and pizza are utterly fantastic. We have lived in Ottawa for almost 40 years and no one can touch Nicks for quality, quantity or taste! We travel from Kanata over 100 kms for a feast from Nicks!!! He has been in business for 48 or 49 years!!!
Best fried chicken, bar none. They are not cheap, however you definitely get what you pay for. Nicks has been around for a long time, and people who have moved away years ago, cannot stop in Pembroke without going to Nicks. True story.

La pizza est bonne si vous désirez une pizza a laméricaine. Pas vraiment de croûte, pâte très épaisse dessous la garniture. Une seule épaisseur de peperonni, quelques morceaux de bacon et des oignons. Une pizza 9 po avec 3 ingrédients ma coûté 25$. Par chance il y avait beaucoup de fromage. Allez-y si vous ne regardez pas les dépenses. Cest quand même bon!

Nicks pizza may be the best I have ever eaten, every inch of the pizza is covered in toppings. It may cost a little more than other places, but one piece is a meal. I no longer live in Pembroke but I try to stop by whenever I pass through. The chicken is also delicious, definitely worth a try.
