Need more trained chefs . Their food is compared to other Indian restaurants not good. Now they are making start better then before. I hope in future ashoka work on that issues and improve their food quality.

The food here was amazing! We had the veggie pakora, veggie korma and Shahi paneer, and all were delicious. The pakora in particular was some of the best pakora Ive ever had. Definitely will be back! Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian options! Whole section of the menu.

Local, authentic, delicious; reminds me of the wonderful Indian cuisine I used to get in Brampton. We will certainly be back! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian selection.

Vegetarian options: We got the vegetarian korma, ashir paneer, and vegetarian pakora, which were all beyond delicious and aromatic. Came with a big bowl of rice.. we also ordered yummy warm garlic naan. Will be coming back again. We requested to sit on the patio, which was nice. Food

Food was a little oily , and the samosas were really dry . All and all fairly good

Unfortunately there quality has gone downhill from when I used to live in Penticton. I felt like everything was old, reheated food. The veggie pakora was inedible, it was clearly re-fried until it was as hard as a rock. The butter chicken sauce was delicious, but there were still chunks of feather attached to the chicken. The naan was delicious as always, and the samosas albeit tasty, confirmed my suspicions on everything being re-fried leftovers.

The online price is different from the menu and the final price is different from both, which was higher. Its very dishonest though they honoured the price after complaining. The quantity was very small for the price. Parking: Only free after 6 on weekdays.

Got a take out order, waited 20 minutes. Asked about order and she suddenly remembered. Apparently forgot about me and nobody in there. Food was good.

Ordered online. Combo A. Very small portions for the price. Forgot to include the naan. Called to be refunded for that as we had already finished the meal. They insisted on still delivering it. Would not order again from here.

We ve been ordering here for about a year now. It s the best Indian we ve ever had! It s never too salty which I find most other Indian places use too much salt. We always order extra so we can have left overs the next day. Soooooo good! Highly recommend the paneer dishes, Chana masala, daal makhni, garlic naan. Vegetarian options: We are vegetarian and they have a lot of different curries available. We love their paneer!!

Took the family to dinner and tried the buffet. The food was good, but when we asked for something to drink like pop for the kids, we werent allowed to cause it wasnt in the price. When ordering the buffet, ur not allowed to have anything other than water.

We visited here today and the food was oky but the service we received was very poor we ordered for dinner few items and they forgot to give us all the item and did not come back to take a look is everything fine or not. when we were about to finish then they realized and asked if they can bring those items now what was the point of that now. Very poor serving.

Ask them to don t put raw onions in chholle bathure but they add it and I tell them I said I don t want onions and girl said she can bring me another plate so I can take them out . I ask her for another plate but she brings me same one because she took out onions from same plate but there was onion in achaar too and she didn t notice that.

Cant say anything about the service or atmosphere because I ordered online. I usually go to Penticton Indian food which I love but door dash had a 60% off deal but you cant get Penticton Indian food through door dash so I took a chance on a new place. I really do regret that. The portions were huge but the food was not good at all. The pakora were so salty you can taste the msg and literally soaking in red food dye. I thought thy were on a bed of red peppers but turns out they were onions died bright red also. Disgusting. I didnt want to give it to my child at all. I ordered the mango chicken which was lacking flavor but I will give them credit for putting lots of chicken in the curry. The naan was huge and actually pretty good and they gave lots of rice. The flavor just wasnt there for me though and made me feel nauseous. Too bad.

I have had a lot of Northern Indian food over the years, and this is place is in the top 20% for sure. Be that what it is, add to that the fact that the owners are beyond lovely and it outs the place into the top 10%. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Typical Indian/Punjabi proclivity for veg options. Kid-friendliness: Walked in to pick up; if your kids are okay with trying new things, then this place is totally fine for families.

I went to pick my food from here, there were 3 girls at front but non of them great or ask what i need. no customer service at all, they all were having gossips after 5 minutes they got time to ask me what i need. Food was pretty good, Restaurant was pretty nice and clean

As a family we eat here often, curried meals tailored to your taste, from mild to eye watering hot. Friendly, discrete, knowledgeable staff explain a rich and varied menu. The atmosphere is relaxed, background ground music is quiet, you can have a good conversation without having to shout. What is not often mentioned in reviews, is cleanliness of the washrooms, in this, the Ashoka does not disappoint. Highly recommended.

Very good food, best tandoori chicken and aloo gobi

By far the best place Ive eaten at in penticton. One of the few places nowadays that has reasonably priced food and drink, especially the drinks. I actually felt good about leaving a tip because the service was exceptional and my pockets didnt get sucked dry by overpriced drinks or food like the 5 dollars I had to pay for 5 tater tots at neighborhood brewing. Would highly recommend this place.

Price posted on their menu in the restaurant does not reflect the price charged in the receipt. Food isn t worth the price. Lachi makes more authentic dishes and at an affordable price.

Hands down the best Indian food and best value for your $$. The food is simply delicious, your order (butter chicken for example) comes with rice whereas other restaurants you have to buy it separately, the service is great (they have helped me bring food to my vehicle numerous times), and its reasonably priced. This is my #1 go to, and huge bonus is my kids love it too! Portion sizes are usually big enough to get lunch/dinner the next day out of it as well. Definitely recommend!!

Zero recommendation!!!! The restaurant team was pretty much rude and they didn t stand up to their customer service. Online it was showing that they were open till 10pm but they closed the dine in restaurant an hour ago and they refuse to serve the food but somehow they allowed the takeout but they made the dishes inedible .. The overall experience was pretty much bad and harassing.

Tried Ashoka restaurant but food was not that good as we expected. Ordered Chicken biryani but Chicken was not cooked properly and it taste like raw chicken.

If I have to go to penticton I try to make sure Ill be there around lunch time to come in for the butter chicken special with beef samosas with their mint dip. If you ask for spicy , youll definitely get spicy.

Always delicious, fast and fresh. Its worth adventuring past your usual favourites to try new dishes here, theres quite a range and theyre all great.

Best food in my opinion

I had a delicious meal this afternoon at Ashoka. The hostess/waitress was extremely nice and talkative and helped me throughout my stay. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Indian cuisine.

I recently visited this place there food was good but there was one tall dark brown girl she was super rude with her service. We were waiting for the water to be refilled first she came after a long time literally just for the water and after that when she came with the water she just throw the water on the table and said anything else i have never seen that much rudeness in the customer service. It was a hilarious service I would never visit this place and I won t even recommend anyone to go there. Everyone is going for the dine-in to get a good service and spending there money to be well served.

The food was very good, the staff were prompt in serving you and very friendly. This was our first visit and well definitely be going back.

Today we are going in restaurant for eating food is very good but servers very slow thay are don t care for table just take order after food is coming to late in table after food coming then servers not come back to take care about table just seating on back counter . Please improve your restaurant service .

They give good portions, good prices and the food was tasty.

Horrible, I took my son out for his birthday, he ordered lamb ,they brought chicken, that was just the tip of the issues.they proceeded to say it was our fault we never ordered that and refused to correct their errors...my son has multiple barriers, it was horrible for him..they constantly starred ..glaring at us, and absolute bare minimum service. My poor daughter was so upset,she refuses to go back. I will not return there. So if u have a person with disabilities in your party, be aware and prepared to be shunned and treated like u are not really welcome/ wanted in their establishment.

The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable, our server helped us with our choices as I cant tolerate overly Spicy/hot food and she got it just right.There was only 2 servers working and it did start filling up quickly but we were looked after extremely well . Its well worth a visit.

We ordered take out from Ashoka. This was our first (and last) time ordering from them. For the price, the food was mediocre at best. The food was packed up very carelessly, so they should look at training their staff properly. The aluminum lid of the container was scraped and a piece was missing so we were worried about a piece of foil being in our food. They didnt pack the chilli cheese very well so it spilled all over in the plastic bag. The chili cheese was too chewey and the sauce was too sweet. We ordered an extra green chutney which was in the order but it was watery and not very good. They didnt include the original chutney that was supposed to come with the pakoras which was very annoying because the pakoras were dry and chewey and could have used some regular chutney. The papadam was packed in a plastic bag with the curry so the moisture made them soggy without that nice crunch you expect from a papadam, whereas some pieces were too hard and hurt the teeth. A couple of the pieces of Naan were a bit burned. The only dish that was decent was the dal yellow lentil which actually had a nice flavour. Thats the only reason Im giving 2 stars instead of 1, but either way we wont be going back there.

Update: Its been 4 years since I was here, and nothing has changed in the quality & flavour of the food!! Cant wait to visit again next summer! (Were from central Ontario) ---------------------------------------------- First time at a restaurant that serves Indian cuisine, really enjoyed it! There were six of us, we all shared, got to try a lot of new flavours. I will definitely be back when I visit BC next summer! Our waitress was awesome, attentive without being annoying, patient with our indecision, & our orders were accurate. Vegetarian options: A large selection of vegetarian options, and, according to my niece, many vegan options Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating, as one of my sisters-in-law is allergic to cilantro, and the were very gracious about it

I dont have option for zero star otherwise I would have given it the owner dont know how to talk I think restaurent have to get closed. we get to know new thing that chicken jalfreji dont have chicken but more veggies . and the quantity is so huge that it would take like 100 people to finish one bowl

Even though the food tasted great, and was fresh, the pricing and portion was pretty off. Why would you serve so much rice and so less curry? It felt like you were trying to give less for more and as a responsible customer I would not enjoy wasting all that rice/food. Good food but not a fulfilling deal.

I ordered Paneer tikka which wasn t worth $17. It is supposed to be served with an authentic mint chutney, but instead we were given a curd with colour and some salt in it. Paneer was in big brick blocks. Veggies not roasted either in tandoor. Disappointed seeing what is being sold in the name of authentic indian cuisine!!

Hands down the best cuisine in Penticton, so many items on the menu each visit is a new experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean and welcoming. Their samosas are home made each day and let me tell you you should take some home with you, Devine!!!!!

Korma and battered prawns were both perfectly cooked and seasoned. I definitely recommend going here hungry! Amazing meal and our waitess was very helpful, too. When youre there, check out the sweets section, I got some jalebi to take home and snack on later (it didnt last very long!)

Pretty delicious food. Had the garlic naan, chicken pakora and butter chicken. Garlic naan is fantastic. Super buttery, soft and chewy with the crispy edges. Chicken pakora was very tasty, well marinated and a very generous portion. Butter chicken curry was very good, the sweet and creamy sauce was fantastic. The spice level can be adjusted and the heat was real.

Food of Ashoka Indian cuisine is worst not good service not good packaging either. I ordered chole bature from Ashoka. And the bhature was soggy and black and for the pickle they just give us a oil of pickle and thier raita was so salty I threw it worst experience I would never order something from Ashoka again. I don t even wanna give them a single star but this google algorithm says to give them a star . Worst experience!!! Ashoka needs to work on it. Disappointed!!!!

Ive really enjoyed lots of the different curries available, as well as vegetable samosas and vegetable pakora. Everything is excellent. I always carry out but the staff are very pleasant. Chicken Madras is my favourite.

I ordered food from here (butter chicken, naans and rice) and was not given any spoons or napkins. How am I supposed to eat my food with utensils? Especially when I m on the go for my job. Also the food was not great.. just a waste of money.

Best indian food in town

Not a great experience and it had been a long time since I did not tip. It felt ok and no guilt of this as I have been tipping 18-20% this year. From the start the no-tip was well deserved. SO this is how it went... We walked in and were told to wait - which is actually not bad. It was nice and cool and waiting meant the restaurant is busy and is most likely good. But this was the highlight from where it went downhill pretty fast. We were served iced water and we requested no ice. The girl basically took some of the ice out from some of the glasses and came back with ice still in some. I wont be surprised if the ice was just taken by hand. All 7 glasses was a table of 7 was dumped on the edge to be distributed by us. That was all. We had to ask twice to get the water refills to get a pitcher. No one seemed to care. Once the pitcher and the glasses were empty, no refills.... We didnt bother to ask. Now comes the china. 7 plates were just stacked with 7 large table spoons on the plate and given to us to distribute. No napkins. We had to ask twice to get 4 napkins for 7 people om the table. We had also had to ask tea spoons for the kids since the table spoons were too big. No forks or knives were given. The food was mediocre. We asked for mild butter chicken for the kids, butter chicken being their staple in Indian restaurants. They just had a bite each and did not touch it. It was too spicy. We had to ask for plain yogurt for them to eat something. The other dishes were medium in spicy but we could not tell the difference. The kids basically just reluctantly ate some rice and nibbled on some naan breads. The adults wanted to get out fast as it became muggy and the food wasnt good. I think the AC turned off towards the end. We just needed to get out fast. Note for the owner: Do something else. Clearly you dont enjoy this and you cannot serve. And hire some staff. Maybe hire someone to train them. It takes a lot of effort for me to do a negative review. Our experience was pretty bad.

Stop! If you are travelling or not from Penticton, stop your search for Indian food. I tried 3 other Indian restaurants before hitting this one and it blew my mind! This is the closest it gets in Penticton for real Indian flavours, real Indian portion sizes, real indian service standards. 5 stars all the way!

Who ever gave this place one star is either nuts or just even more nuts. This is best butter chicken and fish curry we ve ever had in our lives. Everyone is so friendly and the food is out of this world.

We didn t like unfriendly staff taking order and serving food. The food Chhole which they call chana masala was not tasty and not well cooked. When I pointed out that to the girl she was adamant saying we cook like this only and people are habitual of this kind. Their quantity is too less than any other restaurant. Paneer was very hard but gravy good. Their menu was not uptodate. Staff has lots of attitude while talking to customers.

Server lady doesn t have manners to talk to customers. She has too much attitude. Just because of server I don t like to visit again. We wasted our quality time visiting there. Also I think they themselves put good reviews and criticize the critics

Good people good service

Sub par service. Naan was taken away after we started eating as there was an apparent difference in the flavour (there was not, the same flavour came out again). They then proceeded to give our used basket of naan to another customer. After which we were charged for both baskets. Overall the food is decent but service does suck. Would not recommend.
