The food never disappoints. Visited several times. Tried different dishes everytime.

Not really sure how it got over a 4-star rating. We were the only two customers in there. The service person was just sitting there the whole time. Never brought us drinks. And the icing on the cake? We had a window seat so we could people watch out on the sidewalk. The window sill was absolutely disgusting. Full of dead insects, flies etc

What an awesome little shop. Food is fantastic and weve never had to wait for our food. I dont have a single complaint.

My sister and brother in law enjoyed their food but something in mine, the enchiladas, made me have an allergic reaction.

It was alright the tortilla soup was not very good though

Penticton happened to be the place where myself and my daughter planned to get food after traveling all day. After checking what places were open we decided on Tequila Vallarta and Im glad we did. I loved the chill atmosphere and the enthusiastic server. I ordered the stuffed peppers which was extremely tasty. My kid loved her dish as well. When Im back in the area I will make a point of visiting this restaurant again...

Small portion, food was not within my expectations. Place is dirty. Wouldnt go there again for sure.

The food alone is worth the trip but the whole experience is really a treat. We came for lunch, my friends allergy restrictions were handled well and the ambiance was casual and comfortable. Absolutely my favourite Mexican restaurant.

The restaurant was decent, me being Hispanic I m critical about Mexican restaurants. I would say just due to the fact that this one is in penticton and I m from Vancouver. The selection of ingredients to make the food are harder to get out there then it would be like say a place like Vancouver so I understand the fact that the food may not taste as super authentic as it would usually. With that being said, they did what they could and the food was good for what it was. I ll eat here again and try other dishes to compare. I had the chille relleno plate. One thing I ll say tho is their floors are super slippery so be careful in going to the washroom to not fall. Worst floors to install in a restaurant but it looks like other restaurants in the area have done the same.

Stumbled upon this place as we were driving through Penticton. Legit, one of the best and most authentic Mexican places Ive been to outside of Mexico/ southern Cali. Great margaritas too.

Amazing food and dining experience, reasonable prices and never had a mediocre dish. Love the Mexican Parrillada! Ignore the negative reviews about take-out, it takes a certain kind of person to order nachos or enchiladas for takeout and then be upset that its soggy and room temperature when you get home.

I will be back to try some more dishes at this Cool Authentic Mexican Food Restaurant! It is owned by a Family from Mexico City and our waiter was Fantastic! It made us feel like we were in Mexico We had the Enchiladas with Mole Sauce, a plateful of Goodness!

We had delicious shrimp burritos with pico de gallo, chipotle sauce, rice, chips and beans, sour cream etc Service was very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is Mexico! Definitely come try this place. Nothing like fresh homemade simple food with great flavours that is healthy for you.

This is an excellent restaurant. The best nachos I ve ever eaten. I have never been disappointed. Penticton is lucky to have such a great authentic Mexican restaurant.

Last week I went with great enthusiasm to eat Mexican food, it was very delicious, the service was a little slow but ok, there were a lot of mosquitoes on the windows, maybe they could improve that. After dinner I went to my hotel and in the middle of the night I woke up with nausea and stomach pain, I was sick all night and part of the next day, Im not one to get sick to my stomach and the only thing different I ate was the flautas here, no I can say 100% if that was the reason I was sick but its the only thing different or that made me feel bad during the day.

A delightful discovery. Authentic Mexican food, in a simple setting that transports you to a roadside eatery in Mexico. Staff/owners are very friendly and service is offered with a smile. The simplicity and authenticity is what sells this place. For such a small town, Penticton continues to amaze me with the calibre of its gastronomic offerings. Prices are also very reasonable.

The queso chorizo is PEAK flavour and deliciousness. For $15, it s such a steal. They also gave us complimentary chips and salsa. The decor is so festive. I just love this spot!!

Its very good food . But the place could use a good cleaning the pepper shakers were very dirty. The waitress could not understand much . But all in all the food was delicious.

I live on Main Street and got locked out of my apartment one night (while it was raining of course) and the staff here let me sit inside with my dog until my landlord could bring me extra keys. they served me chips n dip and water on the house. 10/10 amazing and very kind staff !!

I ordered the green enchiladas, didnt love them. The guacamole, salsa and nachos were really good though.

Nice fresh salsa with home made corn tortilla chips as table starter. I had GF beef enchiladas with a GF mole. Sauce was a bit sweeter than other places Ive eaten, but still delicious. Topping salad made with fresh spinach instead of lettuce. Way tastier that way but likely cheaper and more available than lettuce right now. Hubby had beef burritos, also tasty and lots to eat. We appreciate they were open on Christmas Eve day, closed at 2. Mexican beer and a lime margarita too. Dietary restrictions: They had good corn tortillas and a decent mole that did NOT have gluten .

Server completely forgot my order, by the time mine came my husband was done :( Threw some watery tomato sauce on my Pablano Peppers & slapped it down in front of me, not what I was expecting. Double margaritas were NOT doubles! No apologies from staff. Disappointed and will not recommend or return! Worst service ever

This is bland, tasteless Mexican Food made for white people. If I showed you what I got for 37 dollars you would be amazed. The tacos consisted of bland, ground beef without any spice at all, shredded cheese and iceberg lettuce. Pretty much what you would get at Taco Bell but for 4 times the price. This is what my parents thought of as Mexican Food back in 1982. No spice. Not even cilantro. But it was, of course, complete with the obligatory side helping of bland rice and bland refried beans to help justify the hefty price tag for what would otherwise be a generic trailer park taco Tuesday. I also got the Jalapeno poppers. When I opened up the Styrofoam clamshell I didnt even know what I was looking at. For twelve dollars, it was two jalapeno peppers, a piece of back bacon for some reason, and a glob of sour cream. The website literally just says jalapeno poppers. I would love to include a photo of what I just paid 40 dollars for, but I feel like that would be unfair. At the very least, this restaurant should not be delivering. Mexican cuisine is some of the best in the world... this is not Mexican. This is bland generic American ground beef and cheese Taco Bell nonsense. And its actually less spicy than taco bell!

The quesadillas I ordered were wet and sloppy. The chips I ordered with salsa just came with diced tomatoes. Not a good meal

Good flavor in the food...it has a touch of Mexico, that is, if it is made by Mexican hands...what really bothered me is that they only gave us 5 tortillas for two people...the place was clean but a little cats hand on the furniture or chairs wouldnt hurt.

First time here. Not palatial but decent. Clean though. Perfect. The server was a pleasant young lady who answered or questions. The entrees, all four of them, were warm at best. But we enjoyed them immensely, none the less. Prices were extremely reasonable in this day and age. Well definitely be back and ask for the entrees to be hot. Highly recommend.

I liked the flavor, I would like them to have a variety of sauce, the chile de arbol sauce in oil can last months, it is dried chile. I ate barbecue and I liked it

We had lunch as a family of four, two of us had the quesadillas and two had burritos. Great food, good value and very friendly service. One of the waiters singing along to the radio could use a couple of singing lessons but he belted it out passionately, and otherwise we had a lovely team and great food!

Staff was great, as was the food. Service was fast, drinks were also great and very affordable. Would definitely come again and highly recommend.

I liked the authentic Mexican vibes of the restaurant, however most of our chairs at the table were falling apart a bit. The service was a bit slow but we were able to get their attention when needed. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and when it arrived it was less than acceptable, but the staff were really amazing and replaced my meal with the Flautas which were sooo tasty.

4 of us Daughter, Son in law, Husband, & myself had dinner here. It was excellent. We had chicken chimichangos with refried beans, guacamoli, rice, etc. It was like eating in Mexico. If you love authentic Mexican food as we do, youll like this place. The owner/chef had his server walk out on him during the lunch hour. Once we understood this, we decided to chill out and wait. The interior is tired and in need of a good clean. All this said, well go back.

I was craving some hot spicy authentic Mexican food. Placed my order and waited with anticipation.....which was filled beyond expectations. I tried their sauces and none to hot then my server went in back came out with a bowl and yes hotter but not enough...always difficult to judge a customer who says hotter. They came with a new bowl and this time we got into the ZONE, great flavour some heat and off I went enjoying my beef rice beans picacdagio on tortias with some cold Pacific beers. Best Mexican food I have had in years and i couldnt eat it all had to get take out container. Great atmosphere great service and top notch food. Thanks.

Struggling to understand how they stay afloat. While service is prompt and friendly, the orders came out 7 minutes apart and totally messed up. Both chicken and beef tacos were dry and rather bland. One plate was missing several promised sides but also 1/3 of the main. Another dish was served with a gibbled taco shell holding barely any filling. Its run more like a lemonade stand than a restaurant.

Probably the best fajitas Ive ever had. True authentic Mexican food and tasted amazing. My 2 kids and wife all had different dinners and we all loved it.

I asked for the sauces to be in containers so that my burrito wouldnt get soggy. That request was ignored. My burrito broke and completely fell apart because of how soggy it is. Previously when my request was not ignored my dinner was delicious. Not this time though. Disappointing. Additionally, some of the rice was undercooked to the point of still being crunchy, and the refried beans were cold. I wont be ordering take out from here again because my burrito is largely inedible.

We where happy to see they where still in town as they moved from their previous very unique and amazing location. But still great food and service!!

Food was good. Fresh salsa. The portions were small, could have gone for more refried beans on the plate. Service was slow, took a while to get a water on a hot day. Parking: Pay street parking available.

We requested a take out order for 12 with very short notice. Owner Nero and his team were up to the task. We let them decide the menu and we were more than impressed with the food and the service. Way to go Tequila Vallarta, we will definitely eat there again.

Good food but servers didnt speak the best English

This place is amazing, came here for a bachelor party and the food and drink just kept coming. We were all so stuffed and happy, it was an awesome start to a great night out with the boys. Food is so good, pretty sure we tried everything on the menu and it was all amazing. The margaritas were pouring nicely, they had no problem serving our large party, I highly recommend five stars hands down.

We had a late dinner here last night after a movie. The food was amazing. Great authentic Mexican flavours and large portions. We had the Mexican Platter and Chicken Molé. Chili Relleno and beef with onion and peppers on the platter were delicious as was the accompanying rice. Chips and pico de gallo fresh and just like in Mexico. The Molé was perfectly spiced. Unfortunately the service was lacking and the staff seemed bored. And then the drinks... TERRIBLE!! Would otherwise have been 5 stars. I dont understand all the reviews raving about the margaritas? Did something change? Do people not know what a real margarita is made of and how it should taste?? First of all we have ordered doubles which the menu said had two ounces of tequila and two of triple sec. We arrived with empty stomachs but after drinking them we didnt even feel a slight buzz!? And they were obviously made with a mix. Tasted like they didnt contain a drop of actual lime juice. Overly sweet, watery, artifically flavoured, and not the slightest bit authentically Mexican. Such a shame at an otherwise great little place. Next time well order bottled beer.

Hey visited tequila Vallarta in their old location and loved it. Not as in love with the food this time, Chile rellenos we re a bit thin and the guacamole tasted and looked not so fresh. But also I am not in Mexico where the avacadoes are prolific! Good service and nice casual atmosphere.

Portions were big, flavour and quality outstanding, price affordable. Family owned, very nice people, outstanding service.

Ive never been here and decided to finally give it a try today. Got the chicken quesadillas. Chicken had no seasoning and there was a paltry amount of cheese. Nothing else on the quesadillas (no green onions, tomatoes, onion, bell peppers, corn, spices, jalapenos, etc...). The refried beans were cold and there were hard chunks of it, as though I got scrapings from the bottom of the pan. The rice was alright at least, I guess? It was also all cold (to be fair, I got take out, but ate it within 10 minutes of receipt). The portion size was good - but I would have been happy with half the portion and some added spices, cheese and veggies.

Food was very tasty, but one of our dishes was not at all as described on the menu. We ordered the seafood bowl, which as stated on the menu comes with: prawns, clams, octopus, scallops, and topped with cucumber, avocado, tomato and onion. Instead the dish came with: prawns, mussels, and whitefish, topped with onion. There were no clams, no octopus, no scallops, no avocado, no cucumber, no tomato. When I asked the server about it, all he said was yes sorry, yes sorry. My guess is the kitchen was out of the needed ingredients and instead chose to substitute the clams with mussles, substitute the octopus and scallops with (much cheaper) whitefish, and then leave off the other ingredients. I can understand this happening, but the kitchen should have told the server, who then should have told us so we could have made a choice to change dishes. Instead they said nothing, and brought the dish with the missing items hoping we wouldnt notice. They did not offer to take the dish back, or to offer us something else. Instead they just took 50% off the dish, but only after we had to sadly complain again. I will go back and eat here again as the food WAS tasty, but they really need to communicate better.

Unfortunately we had a horrible dinning experience that led to both getting very sick. started with unknown food bits in the tortilla chips with a strange taste, a dirty table and area, soy sauce at the base for the carne asada dish which is not mexican. and over 10 fruit flies in both drinks. We both got sick from the food for 2 days. seems like a dirty restaurant and bar. I ts very unfortunate as its a sweet family restaurant. Cannot recommend this restaurant.

The food here is downright amazing, authentic Mexican cuisine and just the most amazing flavors. They also make a killer margaritas. Dietary restrictions: They were very willing to accommodate my picky no onion eating self.

This restaurant has very authentic Mexican food!! Very delicious and yummy!! Highly recommend eating here! Prices are great too. You might be lucky to have live music to listen too while you eat! This is one of my favorite places to go!

the first time we went it was good; we really enjoyed the food, the service was fine, the atmosphere was unremarkable... the second time we went (last weekend) it was kinda late so maybe thats why but the service was pretty disappointing (8pm on a Saturday though? not that late?). the waitress seemed very disinterested, but what actually bothered all of us the most was how she picked up all of our water glasses around the rim from her tray to set them on the table that is awful serving etiquette! we dont know where her hands have been. so, no water for us, obviously. anyway, the food was good, like last time, so Im sure well go again, and I guess just hope theres a different server. oh, and well probably choose a different table too, cos our chairs were rickety as hell. I thought it was going to disintegrate when I sat on it.

Food was off, spent my kids hockey tournament on the toilet, guess it was pretty authentic then lol

The service was barely that. Our waiter didnt speak English and seemed to not want to speak Spanish either. He brought out water with a film on it, but we pressed on...and glad we did because the food came out quickly, smelled great and tasted delicious.

Fantastic meal. Super quick service and very friendly staff. Drinks were wonderful. We left feeling full yet ready to go back again for more!! Beautiful and unique patio. You have to eat here!

I have had authentic Mexican food in both Mexico and in the lower mainland. The food had taste. I was not happy with the quality of the food especially the rice and chicken. I would not recommend take out. Maybe dine in is a different experience.

I am blown away by the positive reviews this place has received after the experience I had when I came here with my husband on our date night. I m not someone who would usually leave a bad review but this was so bad I felt it was my duty to the community to give you a heads up! When we arrived no one else was here which was already a huge sign how the night would go! First we received complimentary salsa and chips which was exciting until we noticed all of our chips were burnt and when we received our waters the waiter let us know the water was drinkable but the ice cubes where questionable?? After letting in the super friendly cat inside that insisted we d pet him throughout our meal, which is not something you usually see in a restaurant, I ordered the carne asada which Our Waiter then explained he didn t speak Spanish so I let him know it was the beef brisket and my husband ordered the Mexican platter! so he basically didn t know what was on his menu! We received our meals 3 minutes later and where excited to eat! I first noticed that I received chicken instead of beef but since I was hungry I thought it s all good Im okay with it! Firstly I tried the beans, which where the worst cold beans I ve ever had and then tried the rice which was cold, soggy and smelt like it was made two days ago! The chicken tasted like subway precooked chicken that had been warmed up on the grill; it was the worst chicken I ve had in my life! I ended up eating two tortillas with their Guacamole that was mainly tomatoes! My husband didn t enjoy his meal either and made me taste his Chile Relleno, battered peppers, which tasted soggy and like it was made ahead of time. Usually Chile relleno is my favourite but this night I almost puked eating it! I ended up taking everything home because I m not much to cause a scene. I know I should have asked for my $20 bucks in return! Afterwards my husband took me to Burger King to get some food inside me! Worst food I ve ever had!!
