Enjoy a scrumptious variety of asian cuisine with family and friends!
I’m going to say it straight - the food isn’t great. Everything was pretty meh. I should note that the buffet had a whole turkey sitting in some liquid and you just carved off some white meat. It also cost $140 for 4 of us. Not worth it at all. That said the service was great. Our server was fantastic.
We went around 7 pm for dinner. Everything was stale and tough. For the price, it was the worst food I ever had. I could not eat it. I do not recommend this place at all. So I have to pick a food that I recommend to post this. I don't recommend any. But I did to post this.
We went last weekend & it was not too bad. I feel like the tables could have been turned up as the food was luke warmish & is better hot. There is decent selection of food & tons of dessert which is nice to have finally! There isn't many buffets left anymore so if your looking for a buffet dinner this location will do the trick ☺️
What a pleasant surprise! We were in Penticton for the weekend and had a craving for Chinese food. We decided on The Asian Garden. The exterior was clean and inviting. The facility was bright and welcoming. The buffet was extensive and well stocked. At first blush it gave a great impression. We were seated by professional and friendly staff. The food was excellent. It was hot, fresh and tasty. Everyone in our group of 5 were more than happy with our meals. The owner even checked that we were satisfied. We’ll definitely return on upcoming visits.
So I have a few issues. 1- there are two seperate sites for the same restaurant “Asian garden” and “china palace”. Both have the same menu but different prices. If you call China palace and ask to verify the name they say “the new china palace” instead of correcting it to Asian garden. This causes major confusion. 2- we ordered 2 dinner for one’s, both with the same choices and I didn’t find my food satisfactory so I decided to order from somewhere else, only to realize I ordered from the same place under a different name. This cost me an extra near $20 for food I’m not very appetized by. 3- the chicken chow mein isn’t even proper chicken chow mein, they cook up a chicken breast without any seasonings and cut it up before putting it on top of some noodles that aren’t even the proper chow mein thickness with minimal sauce and hair thin beans. Suggestions: 1- take down the extra site to avoid confusion. 2- if you notice an order going to the same place as a previous one, maybe check with the customer to ensure they still want it. 3- research how chicken chow mein is made, it’s a classic and a favorite for many.
New owners and newly renovated. Very clean place with a nice variety of freshly made food. The deep fried items were nice and crisp and they kept replenishing things as they were eaten. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Worth checking out.
If you’re in Penticton, you have to check out the Asian Garden Restaurant and Buffet on Shaka Lake Rd. The food is delicious, and the service is top-notch. Dana, originally from Vietnam, really made our lunch and dinner special with her positive vibes and attentive service. She truly made our dining experience outstanding. And let me tell you, the shrimp are so good, they might just make you consider moving closer to the ocean! Highly recommend this place for a great meal and wonderful service.
Went in for the lunch buffet, place was clean and had a nice look/feel to it. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was good, just some items like the rice and noodles were quite bland with nothing in them, the rice had some old tasting hard chicken cubes in there but not too edible. The rest was pretty good my fav being the breaded calamari sticks and fried prawns, nicely done. It’s quantity over quality here so don’t expect anything 3 stars plus. I left feeling very full but not satisfied if that makes sense. Eat here if you don’t care about quality cuisine or gourmet but just want to eat alot!
Great Chinese buffet. Friendly staff.
Ordered take out for my mom and I and we were pleasantly surprised. Portions are large and we had two days worth of great food. Would certainly recommend.
Nice restaurant good food highly recommend eating here they have a all u can eat was well
The place is so nice and clean. The food taste great. The manager and the staff are amazing espevcally Dana she is so kind and attentive to us. We will definitely come back. If you are looking for a buffet/asian restaurant around penticton this is the best place to go.
Dissapointing meal. Food is not that great. Small selection for the insane price of $32.50 each adult! Wont be returning. Head to Jade Buffet in WestK for the best bang for your buck.
Huge selection on luncheon buffet. Food was delicious. Place was nice and clean.
The staff were very warm and welcoming, food was okay, I had the buffet, I know inflation is real but $34 for one person is a bit extreme in my opinion for one person, $25-$27 for sure. Not sure I ll do the buffet again at that price.
Renovated....supposedly new owners....same food....same people...still no good
Me and my wife both found that some of the food was refried and was hard , but it had so much msg in it that it made my throat numb and kind of burnt . It was not at all pleasant. I will not order from there again .
I live close..tried it three times. Food was yuk! All 3 times. Never again!! Food : 1/5
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Ordered wor wonton and all the meat in it was bad.
I ordered 2 dinner for 1 with different items in each as well as a war wanton soup for my mother, sister and myself to be delivered at dinner time. It came promptly at the time requested. I thought to myself good start , but when we tried to eat the food, very disappointing!!!! The wanton soup had huge hunks of tough pork, rubbery chicken and shrimp that had no flavor and felt like an eraser in our mouths. The dinners were to be shared between the three of us but the deep fried shrimp had to be pealed from the batter and then the shrimp was unbeatable. The rest of the food was so dry it needed to be washed down with glasses of water in order to be swallowed. My mother described the chicken as looking like white plastic and very grisly. We were not impressed.
Dont waste your money. Pricey and the food was horrid. Buffet had lots of lovely food to look at, but the meat was like rubber, the seafood was so old it made you afraid to eat any after the first bite, and came home not feeling great. Chow mein, both off the menu and from the buffet, was like chewing elastics and no taste. Sorry we gave it a try. Never again.
I work with people with disabilities on low income and the delivery driver was very rude to us when we couldnt give him a big tip ... Absolutely shameful and disgusting. My family will never give this restaurant business after what I went through today with that driver.
We have not been there for awhile but our take out was awesome and delivery was prompt and our delivery guy was pleasant.
I would not recommend this restaurant. Shanghai noodles were not spicy as requested. Cashew chicken was extremely dry and had no flavor. Beef and broccoli was mostly celery and onions and had very little beef. All dishes were lacking spices.
Ate there today! Never again!!!!!
Good clean restaurant. Good service and atmosphere. Buffet has good selection.
Way too expensive for what you get and average food at best ... no sign anywhere telling you what the buffet costs (my bad I didnt ask) but should be posted somewhere ... two of us ate and it was $69.20 BEFORE tip ... so 80 bux for a couple of plates of buffet quality food? Outrageous in my mind, many other options in Penticton ...
Food was not good rice tasted like was made with dish water prawns werent cleaned lemon chicken tasted like eating sugar cubes with no lemon flavor sweet and sour pork tasted like perfume and for all that cost near 80 bucks for two people
Excellent meal and service. Couldnt ask for more.
Ordered take out on Sunday. The food was... meh. We ordered 3 dishes. The chowmein had no flavor & the chicken in it was so dry we almost couldnt eat it. We order almond gui ding. Yuk. It was 95% celery & onions. A few carrots thrown in for colour. We also ordered sesame chicken & I will say it was ok. Dont think well be back
The renovation is lovely, the staff are five star and the food was good. Huge portions. Would definitely return.
Great service always good food
I always ordered takeout from here and I m afraid last Friday will be my last. I ordered dinner for one and chow mien. The chicken was so hard and been given two pieces. No flavour whatsoever and the rice was like tiny little bits. Chow mien tastes like it was old or burnt. Very disappointed. We as a community deserve more authentic Chinese food.
Just over $30. each including tax & tip. Compared to food quality, not worth it. My grandkids (older teens) barely ate. Food
Close at 9pm , would not answer phone for take out at 836pm . Close at 830 or answer your phone !!! Very disappointing!!!
I ordered food from them via skip two different times. The restaurant canceled on me both times. Not impressed at all.
Honestly, I wasnt sure if I should write this.. but the food was so bad, that Id feel bad not to. I got the egg foo yong(chicken), szechuan spicy beef, Pork chow Mein, and ginger crispy prawns. Egg Foo Yong - NO flavour, Im serious none. The texture was rubber and mushy and the same time. Szechuan spicy beef - Not spicy AT all, the vegtables were raw, and there was about 5 TINY pieces of beef. Pork chow Mein - Noodles werent cooked properly and tasted like nothing. Ginger crispy prawns - Was almost all batter but at least the sauce was good. Please do not go here, it was not worth it at all. Youd be better off buying frozen meals! I really hope this review helps them up their quality. That was so unacceptable.
The korean bbq pork was good, although not much selection. Some of the dishes didnt have a lot of taste and the bill is kinda pricey for food thats not that great bit the atmosphere was awesome and very clean.
It is a typical buffet restaurant. The flavors were very muted and underwhelming. I dont think I would return, $32.95 per adult seems quite pricey for mediocre food.
Turns out the workers are Vietnamese. Perfect.
Amazing service.
Food is bland.
We stopped for supper and asked for something off the menu instead of smorg...the staff were wonderful and food was delicious!!!
We were in on first day open, restaurant was beautiful people were very friendly, we got take out and were very disappointed, food not good, thought we would give it another chance and eat in but havent yet ( a little leary)
Place has changed names & costs. Whats was good & fair is no longer! There are several places to order & has better deals + staff.
Food is ok but $35 per person for dinner buffet. Ouch.
Poisoned food
Don t eat here, rude staff, terrible food
Worst chinese food ever. My parents have been making canadian style chinese food for 20+ years and they told me I was wrong and that it s the style , my parents have been cooking thise style of chinese food for decades. The ginger beef tasted chemically, I nearly fed this to my toddler. Terrible service & terrible food.
Low quality food, low quality service, over priced
We were visiting Penticton from Vancouver and along the way to our hotel we decided to stop by to this buffet restaurant for lunch.Place is nice and clean, friendly staff with good customer service.Food is good, fresh and so many selections. For $27 per person is all worth it.It was a good experience and will definitely come back here whenever we are in the area. Parking: Free and easy to park with plenty of spots.
Will never order take out from there again chicken fried rice unedible very bland and starchy very few vegetables beef and broccoli fair but broccoli not steamed enough will not order again !!!
Weird policy we were advised of upon sitting at a table .must order the buffet at $32.95 per person regardless if we did not want that. No other menu items were available to order. Food
Pricey for seniors...$32
Overall two star restaurant. Just passed by on my road trip. New and nice restaurant by the looks of it, staff is nice and facilities are impressive one of the nicer Chinese restaurants i have been in. That being said, the food was not good. Wonton soup was good , the battered shrimp was good, spring rolls were good, Beef with broccoli was old and stale Rice was old and hard even with soy sauce on it Chow mein old and stale And usually my favourite Chinese dish is sweet-and-sour chicken balls, however, these ones were so old that it was like trying to cut into a fortune cookie. Even with the sauce marinating on them for a few minutes while I ate the rest of my dish. I think this place would be better if the food was fresh. There s definitely potential here to be one of the nicest restaurants in town, but for the price of one plate of terrible food and only drink a glass of water then have to pay $34 it is only a 2 star restaurant currently.
Weve not visited the new location but weve order many times over the years. Last year, food went from okay to excellent. Last nights order was delivered, hot and fresh. Not through Skip but through the restaurant. Owen, the driver, was cheerful as usual. Is this the best in Penticton? Subjective question. We like it. Is like the Asian restaurants in Vancouver? Close, but Im not driving there.
Always great food, competitive prices, large portions, and friendly staff.
Got take out...dinner for one....the deep fried prawns had SO much batter. and grease...when I took the batter off the shrimp was about 1/2 inch if that. I ordered an egg roll Ive have never seen a egg roll like it...so much batter, it was unbelievable...yuck I threw it out. The almond chicken too lots of batter and the chicken was hard. The fried rice was mediocre. The beef and broccoli was good. So disappointed. I was craving Chinese food...so let down. Yall can do way better. Ill know better for next time. Ive lived in the Lower Mainland and had some great Asian food. This comes no where near what I consider to be tasty food. Sad state of affairs
Buffett is ok but expensive
I ordered take out the food was good not the best I have had but much better than most places in town the price was surprisingly cheaper than anywhere if your looking for Chinese at a great price this is it
My sister and I went for lunch. I am 55 and my sister is older than I am. The waitress who seated us charged us the senior price for the buffet (without asking our age). I didnt say anything because That was the senior age. Her service and everything was fine until we pay. A different woman collects payment and was so rude to me. Telling me that I dont look old enough to be a senior. Saying that 60 is a senior .I didnt know I dont live there. Saying next time I should be Idd. She got really angry. Basically accusing me of being a scammer. It was my first time there and that ruined my visit with my sister.
All very good
The food was bland and lacked flovour. We ordered 5 items ans the same thing can be said for all of them. We ordered take out and the service was quick and friendly and the order was hot and ready when we arrived. I will try them again in the future to see if they improve but for now I can not recommend this restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Not the best but I could get in and out and find parking. I did not use the washroom so I am not sure if its wheelchair friendly.
I unfortunately wish i didnt order from them again. I just spent $120 only to recieve cold soaked in grease undercooked disgusting food. Totally inedible. Called to complain and they said theyd give us 20% off on next visit . Said theyd call back but now have ghosted us and nobody answers our calls. No different than the china palace resteraunt they were apart of. Arrogant rude overpriced . Dont waste your money!!! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN.
We took our 2 boys here tonight and the service was amazing! The food was great. Everything they had was fresh. Thank you for having us tonight!
I ordered the wonton soup and Singapore fried rice noodles. Both were very good, hot, fresh, great flavour.
The restaurant and staff themselves were lovely and the positive. The negative was the food. We ordered dinner for 3. Just overall mediocre. The chicken with chow mein tasted basically inedible. Dry and tasted boiled. Sweet and sour was just ok. Deep fried prawns and beef mixed veg were good! But the spring rolls were small and mushy.
Great Reno ..Ive been about five times since reopening and Im impressed .Thanks for the awesome smorgasbord
Ordered from here for the first time. But never again.I had the dinner for one.It was cold the prawns had so much batter and a small prawn inside. The Rice was bland.Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. As its terrible.
Today was my first time at an all you can eat buffet since the pandemic. This restaurant has been totally renovated and is super clean and fresh looking. The food was also excellent...this is now my go to place for Chinese food! Keep up the good food! Food : 5/5
Upon entering and realizing the buffet was 33$ and none of our party felt we were that hungry we considered our options. They offered a lower rate for us and the kids to have us stay though it was with the caviate that we only have 4 items .. ok when we go up they then inform us we are only allowed 1 plate and no revisiting. .. ok a little annoying they didn t make either of these clear before seating us. Ok well , only 1 plate then and only 4 items. My first item was the roast beef. I put the scraps of what s already cut onto my plate and cut 1 more and load it and the lady comes to tell me I m taking too much meat (to be clear I had 3 medium size pieces) ..at this point I m over the whole experience and want to leave but the rest already have their food so I begrudgingly get the 3 more items ( ensuring I don t take to much for fear of being reprimanded again). All in all an unsatisfying, underwhelming and somewhat unpleasant experience.
Friday and Saturday night buffet has a big beef roast, perfectly cooked and also a turkey you can slice yourself! Prawns as big as baseballs. Great value!
A really good variety and reasonably good value
Good food great service nice atmosphere.
Amazing. Wonderful and kind staff, the food is also great. We haven t been able to find any good Asian food since moving up here back in July. Now we found our new place! Would definitely recommend, will be back! Food
Friendly attentive staff, clean and the food was good! The buffet could have more selection, but we will definitely come back and recommend!
The relaunch and revamp of this Penticton hallmark is extremely well executed. The food is now well worth the trip and while the restaurant still has a buffet seating the facility was absolutely spotless. Staff are attentive and checked on the food quality and quantity often while I discreetly watched.
Good food, very clean place, friendly staff.
We went for lunch with the kids. The food was fresh and as expected. The service was excellent and the kids love the buffet. Always a great choice for the family.
My sister and I were just in to have the wonton soup and it was delicious and the service was good. Staff was friendly. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. I will definitely go back the next time I m in town.
Df prawns and egg rolls - waaaaay too much breading. Otherwise pretty good.
Buffets are slowly reopening, and this newly revamped location is giving it a whirl. The selection is extensive, though fairly unimaginative. Highlight was the carving station, with a huge turkey and a massive beef roast. The asian dishes were bland by comparison. Salad bar was rather soggy, and the desserts were uniformly stale. If you want to really stuff out, this is probably a good choice, but with a $33 floor price, there is not much value here.
Come hungry! I was unsure about the price until I had the food. You get a full roast beef and turkey and tons of meat options. At a steak house you would be paying the same price and that s not including the other fried rice and soup and dessert options that s included in the price. I recommend the clam chowder soup and roast beef. Salad bar had tons of dessert options as well. Left feeling satisfied. On top of that the staff is very friendly and the place is very clean. It is a good deal, especially if you are hungry!
A lot of the buffet items were overcooked, undercooked veggies, cold gravy, good service though.
Was not offered a menu, so assumed buffet was the only choice. However, was ok with that this time, as we wanted to try a variety. Loved the Wonton soup. Would go back for that. Everything else was good, but not outstanding. Service was excellent, resturant was very clean, and has comfortable seating for us larger people.
Food was better than I expected. Nicely upgraded and staff friendly and they keep everything clean and topped up at buffet table. People shouldn t complain about the price as even eating at an average Chinese takeout counter at a mall food court costs about $18 per person these days.
The lunch buffet was good but it was $30. To expensive unless you are a big person that can eat a lot. Left full but my wallet was shaking it s head.
Had to do some work in the area and stopped in for lunch. Found the food to be very good, there was a great variety of proteins and vegetables. Everything was fresh and very tasty. As a diabetic it s always hard to find a place that isn t carb heavy. Would recommend it in a heartbeat. Dietary restrictions: Type 2 diabetes
The food was alright, nothing special though, and the rice tasted old. The staff were friendly, however nothing special. Theres likely better options out there, and for a lower price.
Good food and great service
One star is too much. We ordered 2 diners for one combos. It was ready in 15 minute, I was there on time. Brought the food 3 minute drive away. We sat down right away to eat. The food was cold. Almond chicken is so hard you cant eat it. The chicken in the chow mein is so over cooked you can not eat it. The sweet and sour pork was not hard but was cold. When I called to complain, I was offered one meal free on our next order. Thanks but no thanks.
Have had take out three different times now. My daughters think the food is great. Even gave us free dry garlic. Enjoyed the Pineapple and BBq pork fried rice, sesame chicken, ginger beef, chicken balls, and the prawn chop suey was amazing.
So Im all about giving fair chances. I have retracted my last review. Went today for lunch buffet with my daughter. Food was hot juicy meats a decent taste for a buffet. Still not my favorite. But 100 times better then my last visit. Thank you Asian Garden. Good recovery
Fist off they just rebranded to try and trick everyone into thinking its a new restaurant, its still the same poorly run place, I went there only to find they dont Devane the shrimp. For people who dont know, it is safe to et a shrimp that hasnt been Devane but its not the most Pleasurable experience when you find out that its the digestive track of the shrimp which is full of poop!! Its technically safe to eat but who wants to eat poop in there shrimp. Either they are to lazy to Properly processed them or they just doing it to save money. In conclusion, it has been the worst experience ever and I will tell every single person to never go there because of the poop I ate there. I hope they take the extra 15 minutes it would take and probably do it next time. But I will make sure everyone knows about the poop they serve there.
Terrible quality food. Taste like they gave us buffet food that was a week old and microwaved. Can t even believe they sell food like that. Was chewy. Like the sweet and sour pork was so stale that I couldn t stab it with a fork.
Was trying to call for take out, and their phone kept cutting out. After about the 15th call, I finally got thru to someone, and told they can t give me beef fried rice. Really?!? Ended up just saying forget it. Guess they don t want business
We did take-out for a family Christmas eve dinner. We ordered 9 different dishes and everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The order was ready when they said it would be and staff were friendly.
Went for the buffet. Soup was lukewarm, rest of the food was cold and tasted like it had been reheated. My father and I each took 1 plate of food each, only attempted half of what was on our plates, then had the plate cleared and let the waitress know. We then left, when I let the person at the till now when they asked if it was good, I informed them it was cold, and that we didnt each the plate we took he was oh ok sorry. Definitely not worth the $65 they charged us for 2 people.
Came here for xmas eve and did not disappoint. Also thank you to the staff for making a separate dish for my gf who is celiac even though they were only doing the buffet that night.
Nice food
33$ for an adult and 18$ for a 6 year old is outrageous pricing for mediocre smorg. I understand a buffer for wastage and that the cost of everything has skyrocketed, but 150$ for 2 kids and 3 adults is way too much. Id rather order pickup from summerland and I will most certainly not return unless they reduce the cost. I was really excited to have a smorg back but its definitely not worth the expense.
Good quality food, friendly staff, excellent service, reasonable price.
We ordered take out there for New Years Eve. It was awful to say the least. All the veggies were hard - even the celery was uncooked in the beef and black bean dish - also very little beef in the order. The honey pork was also as hard as rocks and it was very hard to chew. I made my own rice to go with the dishes and it was way better! I would not advise anyone to order from there - we wont be going back.
We had the dinner buffet and it was delicious! Lots of options for you to choose from. Buffet is a little pricey but is well worth it and what isnt pricey these days. If you enjoy a good buffet I highly recommend.
FOOD WAS GOOD , GREAT DESSERT BAR. WILL VISIT AGAIN SOON
Picked up dinner this evening and it was great!! A variety of dishes, all of which were hot and tasty. They surprised us with the meatiest (ever) dry garlic ribs - what treat, thank you!
When spending almost $30 a person for lunch buffet, the food quality did not equal the price sadly. I doubt ill go back.
The place looks very good and welcoming, we went on their soft opening and it was good.
Lots of food with each dish. Chow mein noodles have a funny texture but taste okay. Vegetable chop suey is very fishy. Ginger beef is different than other places but I guess it is always different depending on the cook. Its good enough, not great.
Kid-friendliness: Very inviting friendly staff Food
Was clean & bright , were seated promptly and given plastic cups of water but never offered any other drinks, not even tea. Lots on the smorg but very mediocre, nothing was hot, lukewarm at best, given our bill before done our meal & no questions about how our food and/or experience was. Definitely not worth $18 never mind the $31.95 EACH it actually cost. 2 out of 10
We tried the buffet for first time. The food was very basic and not enough Chinese food variety. The senior price for 2 people was $67 which is just too expensive!! Will not be going there again.
Worst food, multi day old food and very bland (chewy seafood and beef). Extremely overpriced for the cost. Seemed like everything sat under a light for days.
People are very nice and helpful. We went for Singapore noodles but just their buffet is open for dine in right now. Not a fan of buffets but we stayed. My mind has not changed especially for $26. Minimal selection of noodle type dishes in buffet.
Went there to check after reopening in Penticton Buffet place as loved their hot n sour soup, but was disappointed as that soup was exactly as from China Palace Restaurant totally the same recipe, unreasonably to spicy and not sour at all, with a bunch of green peas, no shrimps and no pork at all, Unfortunately had to just toss it.
Food was not that great. Very disappointed. The workers kept on watching us nonstop. I was not allowed to take pictures of the food at the buffet, a lady came up to me to stop. Do not recommend.
