Elma in Penticton

We had our staff holiday dinner at Elma and it was phenomenal! The ladies behind the bar and serving the food were the sweetest and remembered all our names. My baby has a dairy allergy so I needed my food substituted to be allergy friendly. The chef was amazing at still including me in all of the dishes that were served. The staff assured me with every course that it had been modified to keep my little one safe! Will recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to dine. Gorgeous place, food, and staff. I hope to be back very soon!

Great culinary experience if you want amazing Turkish inspired food. If you want an dining experience that youd expect from a highly rated restaurant in Vancouver in a small city come here. Ive been here for dinner 7 or 8 times and the service is always top notch from the front of house staff. The servers know the menu really well, explain the flavors and guide you along, a bit of a lost art these days. Highly recommend Elmas!

Every time we have been to Elma, we have had exceptional food and service. The servers are usually very knowledgeable about the menu, have recommendations, and are genuinely friendly. The food is deliberately prepared, unique, and flavourful. The cocktails are also great and you can never go wrong with some Turkish tea. Its our favorite special outing spot in Penticton.

What a beautiful atmosphere for a special occasion. This was a top notch experience in dining. Our server Vanessa explained how the dishes are served as they are prepared, so there seems to be food arriving at a pretty decent pace. Every plate was prepared artistically, we ordered 10 different dishes and every one was absolutely delicious. Such an array of flavors! Vanessa is fantastic, she checked in on us often, and was just so genuinely kind. All 8 of us were raving about the experience later in the evening. I would 100 percent recommend Elma if you are looking for a great experience.

We had an early dinner reservation tonight for a birthday dinner. We arrived early and were seated right away. Being a Tuesday it was quieter. The service we received was 5 stars. Vanessa was fantastic, every need was met before we even knew we needed it! Cocktails and mocktails were very tasty. Highly recommend a mezcal ceaser! We shared many many plates and enjoyed the quiet restaurant we basically had to ourselves. Some favourite were the hummus, Elma pide and the lamb. Top notch all around!

Not a big fan of food but this place has got it!

Absolutely a joke of a restaurant. We waited for an hour+ for the food. The food was mediocre at best. There are better food options in Kelowna. Avoid this horrible restaurant at all times.

A wonderful place - warm, friendly service, exceptional cocktail list, and the food is beyond delicious. We loved every minute of our time at Elma.

Fantastic!!! So enjoyable! Everything is on point, and the food is excellent, in particular the grilled calamari was one of the standout dishes ive had in a long time! Kudos team.

We tried the labneh mezzeh, pide and Adana kabap. Loved the kebap 10/10. Everything was amazing.

I have never been more confused and frustrated by a dinner out in my life. We went as a group of 7 for a birthday. We did not get to eat together. All the food came out at such drastically different times. My main came out 15 minutes before anyone elses appies even came. Then my appie came out last as other peoples mains were coming out. She took half the tables dinner order but not the other half. When I asked what was happening she said the food comes out sporadically and not all at once. I asked how my main came out before anyones appies and she said she thought i was having 2 appetizers. She offered to take it back and bring it out when other mains come out but at that point I was so confused, frustrated and disappointed. The restaurant was SO loud and insanely hot and smokey to the point the bartender was wearing a fan in her cleavage. I asked for my food and the bill so I could leave. Will never go back Will never recommend. Was a huge disappointment for what was an amazing day.

Went to Elma for a friends birthday. Reservations were made but unfortunately two of the party couldnt make it last minute. The person seating was quite annoyed when we said there could be two less stating they could have booked that table for someone else. The server could have explained the service process to the entire table. She only took complete orders from half the table so starters were served before the whole table had finished ordering. We ended up with half the table finished while the other half was still waiting for their mains. The server wouldnt take my husbands order for another drink until I returned from the washroom and had to tell her hed like another drink because she completely ignored him. She was also very sidetracked by the fact that she knew one of our party, notnpaying attention to anyone else. The food was tasty but portions were small. I found that the menu was very lamb heavy and as someone who doesnt like lamb that left few options that I was interested in.

My wife and I came in for dinner a couple weeks ago and haven t stopped talking about it since. Great location and view. The food was fantastic and our server Mike provided excellent recommendations for food, cocktails and wine. From start to finish it was an outstanding experience and we have a new favourite restaurant in Penticton, we will definitely be back.

The food is definitely not Turkish. A chief may have an idea from the Turkish Cusine, but dont expect anything traditional Turkish food. Also, I believe that if you advertise as Ali Nazik and prepare something modern interpretation, that is not fair for me. Basically, it is not Ali Nazik, but it was a food influenced by Ali Nazik. So, if you tried pide, Adana or Ali Nazik before, dont expect that you will eat it something like you ate in Türkiye. Its definitely a misadvertising. Raki was good, which is no need for an additional ingredient. The lady who was serving us was very good. This was only a positive thing from our experience. Also, it is not pet friendly.

Truly an amazing experience with Ebony! (Hopefully spelling is correct!). As a group of people who really appreciate great services, she was 10/10. Like being served by a friend when you ve just met her. Food was amazing, very thankful that our server explained the different dishes and sizes, helped us pick the right stuff for our party. We had a fantastic experience at Elma. The food was incredible- such creative and delicious dishes- and the service was truly wonderful as well. The staff members were all very welcoming and friendly, and truly knowledgeable about the food, the history and the aims of the restaurant. The four of us shared a number of small plates and we thoroughly enjoyed each one. We were up visiting from the coast and can say that this gem of a restaurant can easily rival any that weve been to in Vancouver. If youre in the area, be sure to go to Elma and youre certain to be very glad you did!

Elma is ok. Several dishes were very good and some were ok. Service too. The prices are slightly higher than ok. If I end up back at Elma in the next few months, thatll be ok. A few friends have gone on about this place lately, and now that I have been and enjoyed a few drinks and several of their dishes, I can truthfully say.......its ok.

Delicious food and very friendly service by everyone we met. Best octopus since Greece. Appreciate the extras for our toddler, high chair plus their own unbreakable cup, plate and small size cutlery It made dining so much more enjoyable. Will definitely return. Elma provided us an outstanding experience on every level. The Turkish inspired food is delicious, creative, and varied. It is gorgeous to look at, wonderful to eat, and every dish demonstrates skill and dedication in the kitchen. The featured wines we ordered were excellent and very well suited to the food. The service was outstanding and very personal. We ordered 4 dishes from the meze and small plates menu, plus a dessert. (This was plenty for even two people who had spent most of the day cycling pretty hard.) At the end of the meal we asked our server to give our compliments to the kitchen. Shortly after, the owner came over to chat with us with genuine warmth and interest. The meal was so good and there were so many other wonderful looking untried things on the menu that we returned the next night. High praise in our book. Again we had a fabulous real , truly excellent service, and a lovely conversation with the owner, plus a quick visit to the kitchen to express our appreciation in person. These people care deeply about food and about their clients happiness.

Elma is setting the bar. Both dining rooms are beautiful. The service was excellent and I would never tire of a menu like that. Can t wait to go back.

Absolutely delicious and great service. Our waiter had terrific recommendations and the food portions were great based on said recommendations. Would recommend whole heartily. About $120 for a starter, two mains and two cocktails. The staff were also accommodating with dairy allergies.

This place was absolutely delicious all the dishes we ordered were top drawer, way better experience then other close by restaurants. Our waiter was super cool and informative. Would definitely recommend makes me want to try to make this food myself!

Everything we had was delish!! So flavourful and well presented. The pistachio dip was amazing and so were the scallops and the lamb kebabs.

This is one of the best restaurants in all BC in my opinion! Quality of food, professional customer service and unique decoration, cleanliness of the store, spectacular lake view, all amazing! We visited this place in May, family of 3,originally from Turkiye and ordered pide,lamb and several small plates with drinks. It was a busy day but service was on time and genuine attention we receive from friendly servers and hosts made our experience even better. They have different menu every month so each time you visit this place, you can have something new to try. Chef is very creative with food, i dont usually like artichokes but the way he prepared the meal made it so delicious and i enjoyed eating artichokes ! I really wish they had more locations in Lower Mainland. Penticton community is very lucky to have this successful, professionally managed and well-designed business and should support it during this economic tough times. Cant wait to visit again at the end of August!

BEST FOOD in BC! The food is impeccable, scrumptious and fresh flavours! This is literally Michelin quality food! I have no idea why they are in Penticton, they deserve to be downtown Vancouver or Montreal! Absolutely world class food. Vegetarian options: Many Dietary restrictions: The menu is well documented and coded for Nut / Dairy / Gluten. Wheelchair accessibility: main floor, roll on in!

Go once a year or so, twice the last few months and it never disappoints. The flavours are always amazing! Tonight had the scallops, prawns, pide (any kind is great), lamb and beef brisket. Can t pick a favourite! The sauces and flavours are so unique. Lots of great cocktails to choose from, great service and ambiance is wonderful. Penticton is beyond lucky to have a place like this in town!

Elma is a must-go whenever we are in Penticton. I also recommend it to my friends and colleagues when I know they will be anywhere near Penticton. It is stunning - both the view and the decor. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We came during a heat wave and the staff went out of their way to keep our baby cool with an ice bucket and towels. The food and cocktails never fail to impress. Im hungry for Elma from writing this review.

Honestly, this has to be the best restaurant in Penticton. I ve spent time in Turkey and the food is as good or better than high end Turkish restaurants. I met the chef at the end of the night to thank him for the wonderful meal and he was gracious and very authentic. You won t be disappointed

My wife and I booked a window side table two weeks in advance and were really excited to try out this restaurant as it had very good reviews. When we arrived the staff at the front checked in with upstairs to see if our table was ready and I over heard that our table was given away to the blond ladies. The front staff then told us to wait as they are still getting our table ready. My wife and I then had to wait 10 minutes until they said our table was ready, which is a little annoying but things happen. When we went upstairs we were greeted by a tall slim waitress who asked us if we have been to the restaurant before, to which I said no. The waitress then rolled her eyes at me, and gave of the demeanor of a teenaged girl being lectured by her parents, before vaguely gesturing for us to follow her with out saying anything. She then sat us at a table not at the window facing another table sitting two blond women who are sitting at the window. I wanted to bring up that we requested a table at the window when we made this reservation but by the waitresses demeanor, and that it was quite obvious that everyone by the window was not close to being done, we would be waiting a lot longer (for our reserved table!). So I left it alone as we didnt want to wait. Once the waitress with the bad demeanor left another waiter, named Mike, came. From here I have to say that Mike is the only reason that this review score is at a 3, because he was wonderful, nice, friendly. He asked us if we been here before as well and when we said no he fully explained the menu and gave great suggestions! Now for the food. The food was quite good but a little over priced for what it was. I know that they say that the food is Turkish inspired, but as a person who has had Turkish food made in authentic Turkish ways, I would have to say that the food is not very Turkish. It feels like the chief whispered the word Turkish at the food before it leaves the kitchen and calls it Turkish food. Again the food is great but not Turkish. For atmosphere I do have to say that it was a little spoiled for my wifes and I. This was due to us not getting the table that was asked for, but the salt in the wound was that the view that was given to us was looking at the two blond ladies enjoying the view that we reserved two weeks ago. So it was very disappointing. Personally, I would not go back. Not because of my personal experience but because of there are far better restaurants in Penticton. For the same price as Elma I would go to Hillside bistro instead. All in all I would give the staff 1/5 (it would be a 0 if it was not for Mike, please get all over your staff to learn from him). Food 3.5/5 (good food, but over priced for what it is). Atmosphere 1.5/5 (no fun staring at the people who were given your reserved table, but looking passed them you can get an okay view of the lake).

Food is good very Special

We shared an awesome dinner at the end of June and sat in a seat overlooking the lake on the second floor. The bar staff were great and made us some custom drinks and the food was exceptional. This is a great spot to check out for some funky, Turkish food that you wont find many other places!

We had a reservation for 7:30 pm last night and arrived at 7:22 pm. After speaking with the host, she asked us to wait. Despite booking nearly a month in advance, we were seated around 7:50 pm. Unfortunately, our dining experience continued to disappoint. We placed our food order right after we sat, but we were still waiting for some dishes as late as 9:15 pm. It appeared they prioritized serving bloggers, causing delays in our meal service. Starters arrived 45 minutes after some mains, and we were already full as we have been waiting since forever, and to add to our frustration, one of the main dishes, the steak, was served completely raw. Weve been loyal customers for four years, traveling all the way from Vancouver, but last nights experience was incredibly disappointing.

My worst restaurant experience began with a reservation for 7:30 pm, but we werent seated until 7:50 pm after waiting outside for about 20 minutes. Once seated, it took 25 minutes for our mezes to arrive. After finishing those, we waited another 15 minutes for our pides. The calamari took another 20 minutes to come out, and finally, after that, we waited an additional 10 minutes for the Black Sea siron. By the end of it, we had spent nearly two hours waiting for our food. Even if they served the best food in the BC, I would never choose to dine there again.

This restaurant was such a disappointment. My friends and I wasted two hours there. The service was incredibly slow, and the portions were tiny. I left feeling hungry and frustrated. I definitely wont be returning, and I wont recommend it to anyone.

Food was very, server was amazing, the location couldnt be better. Just make sure they pace your food correctly. Our mains came about 45~50 minutes later which kind of ruined the dinner experience

Had the most amazing dinner at Elma in Penticton! The flavors were absolutely incredible. We savored every bite of Girit, Seared Scallops, Kusbasi Pide, and Ali Nazik. Each dish was a masterpiece on its own. Cant wait to go back for more!

Delicious food and delightful staff. Must visit the gem when in Penticton.

Tried the yam fries. Ordered them to go. Waitresses were quite young. There was no napkin included in the order. They may still be under winter hours; they were closed on Tuesday a couple days ago when I checked (11/24/24) so it would appear they are. Perhaps theyll be open for other hours in the summer around the 20th of June.

Delicious restaurant on the shores of Penticton. We were served by Mike who was super attentive and knowledgeable. We went for the halloumi, the green hummus, and the brisket dumplings, all of which were delicious. We do wish we would ve had a fourth dish but we made up for it with a great chocolate ganache desert. The price per dish is also great, so I would highly recommend Elma for anyone visiting the area!

My brother-in-law and his wife were visiting and wanted to try something different. We had heard good things about Elma but had never been there. Honestly, it was one of the best food experiences Ive had in my life! Our server, Ebony, was super friendly and we let her choose the food for us, which was a unique experience. We loved everything, especially the octopus! Cant go there and not have it! Thank you, Ebony, for being so helpful and big thanks to the chef for having brought such nice food to Penticton.

What an amazing restaurant! Who knew such fine dining could be found in the seaside shop type strip of shops by the lake. A friend recommended this restaurant to me and I am so glad that he did! The Green Hummus, filled and topped with fresh herbs, was truly the best hummus I have ever had in my life. And the Lentil Kofte was delicious too! If you havent been, go! Excellent from start to finish. Waitress was so sweet and very helpful from helping choose the wine through to which dessert to eat first. There were 4 of us so we shared 5 plates and everything was delicious. Very fresh and little or no salt. Cant even pick which item we liked the best. All the dishes were so tasty and unique. All the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. To top it off the owner came to the table to ask if we enjoyed it. We are use to owner/chefs doing that in Europe, nice touch. Think we have a new favourite restaurant. Already looking forward to going back.

We loved the food and the server. The food was innovative and delicious. The server was able to explain all the dishes and she suggested how much to order. We had three meze and two small plates which shared among four of us. It was perfect. When Im back in Penticton I will definitely go to Elma for another meal.

Best restaurant in Penticton hands down. Ive eaten there over 10 times. The food is incredible - I love their seasonally changing menu - often theres something new to try which keeps it fresh and interesting. Im vegetarian and am usually going with meat eaters, and everyone is always happy. Love the sharing / tapas style. Desserts arent listed on their online menu but they always have them, and they are divine. Big kudos to the Chef for such an interesting, unique, and delicious menu that caters to so many different tastes. The cocktails are fantastic too :) Service is above and beyond. Ebony and Mike are especially fantastic servers. The owner has made the effort to say hello several times. They are all very welcoming and warm; really cant rave about the service enough. They keep me coming back - its lovely to be remembered as a local. Gorgeous interior with nice lighting and art. Lake views from the windows if youre lucky enough to get a seat there.

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Penticton. I think they reset their menu at least once a year, and I ve never been disappointed. The flavours are so imaginative, and I imagine true to Turkish cuisine - (one of the servers told us their chef is of Turkish origin). Our server last night was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and I am embarrassed I ve forgotten his name. Though our group tried many things last night, the star dish of this menu s rotation was the whipped feta and beetroot. So good I had to order another one to go! The prawns, hanger steak and duck were top tier as well. Thanks, Elma! Vegetarian options: They have quite a few vegetarian options. The ones I ve tried are delicious.

The most amazing food, service and atmosphere! Our food was delicious!!!! I would say hands down the best restaurant in Penticton. The flavours in the dishes are perfection. Will recommend to others!

The ambience is nice (though not upscale) and service is friendly if extremely slow. The food is hit and miss, some dishes are delicious (e.g., Pide 4 cheeses), others genuinely not good. Though mains are more or less fairly priced, the rest of the menu, particularly cocktails and desserts are wildly overpriced for Penticton. $17 for a small cocktail and $15 for a small dessert are out of place for the type of establishment and city. Check your bill as twice they ve made a mistake with mine. Our Valentine s dinner was shy of $150 for not that much food and one alcoholic drink (my fiancée s as I don t drink). It took 2 hours to receive one shared appetizer, main, and dessert.

As a local who has gone here over 10+ times since theyve opened I can say Ive really enjoyed Elma, the atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are always very kind, but the portions have become increasingly smaller each time I go. This is disappointing as it is meant to be a sharing experience, and there is barely enough for one person it seems. Even the bread has gotten smaller! I dined there just recently with their new winter menu and can say the portions were certainly underwhelming. For two dining we had a starter dip with bread, a salad and a main meat dish, and we both agreed we were not near full by the end.. It is quite expensive, and you would hope at least leave feeling content. I think that this should be addressed. I would still recommend trying Elma, as it is unique, but to leave an establishment without a full belly and having spent a pretty penny makes it difficult to want to go back soon..

This was a great food experience. We booked in advance as we were a large group. We did not have to wait and we were seated in the upper floor lounge. The server was generally helpful but seemed a little rushed at the end. There was no dessert menu and the server just quickly spelled the options out. We chose to skip. The food was mostly tasty. We started with quite a few dips but the bread was not enough. Each additional loaf was for $6. I highly recommend the pide. It was filling and decent in size. The meat dishes tasted okay but the portion was small. The interior looked amazing and I loved the ambience. I did smell a little bit of the kitchen fumes. Not sure if the exhaust system was working properly. Overall, good experience with minor comments for improvement. Worth the try! Incredible food, incredible service, an essential Penticton restaurant experience. Not to be missed!

The restaurant changed the menu and it is superb. Our server, Mike, was just the best. Lots of vegetarian options!! We arrived near closing and they were very generous and kind. We had the swordfish which was super tender and full of flavour, our favourite. The bread is homemade and so soft. They also gave us wine tasters so that we were happy with the wine!! And the apple dessert was unbelievable !!! Vegetarian options: Lots !!

What a unique experience with a taste of the middle east here in the Okanagan! Having said that, I would have loved this restaurant to be open earlier as we drove from Kelowna! Our server, Ebony, was great, patiently explained everything and made us feel comfortable. One thing that I like to inform others about is that although they suggest that foods over $22 are bigger portions, they are not! We got the Adana Kebab ($27) which was small even for one person, let alone two. Also, to pay, I could not tap, which I did not like! Other than these, things were fantastic!

My partners and I s favorite restaurant in the Okanagan. We eat here once every two months or more when we have visitors or it s a special occasion or just want an amazing meal. Their menu changes with the seasons but the Meze flight with labneh and humus is a staple and a must! Other stand out dishes that you must try when available are their chicken shish, beef tongue donair, lamb kebab, grilled octopus, and morel mushroom pide. Their cocktails are also great, and highly recommend a shot of Turkish coffee to end the meal! Staff are super friendly and attentive!

Elma is by far our favourite restaurant in Penticton. They have truly done everything so well in this place - the decor is perfect in every room and they always have the friendliest, knowledgeable and fun staff (both back and front of house). We have ordered many different items from the food menu and we are always impressed with everything. They have a great wine selection and the cocktails are unique and delicious. We have been here with large and small groups and they always do an impeccable job with the whole experience. I truly cannot say enough about how good the place is and I highly recommend a visit!

OMG! What a celebration of Turkish culture! I know it s fusion, but it makes it even better! I love fusion! The atmosphere is amazing! The food quality is amazing! I will take a 5 hour long drive just to dine in here again!

This place was fantastic! The flavors of the food were incredible and our server was knowledgeable, providing realistic recommendations! The restaurant staff worked so well together and it was clear that they were all a team running food, filling water, and clearing plates for each other. I can t wait to go back!

I would describe the mood at Elma in penticton as chill and relaxed. The Turkish inspired menu is a nice, refreshing and unique vibe for the long beach section of penticton. Our waiter Mike was friendly , accommodating and not overbearing; however he was quick with the service being there almost intuitively. Just as I was thinking about a refill or desert he appeared.Great service. General summary, im very surprised that elma was almost empty as Saltys had a wait list, based on our experience I would have expected more people to be there. Im glad Salty being busy pushed us into this

Beautiful restaurant, great view, friendly staff! Only came here for a drink before we went to another reservation we had, we would have stayed but they couldn t accommodate all of our friends we were joining. Will be back for sure!

Interior has nice ambience and you can see the open kitchen. Hummus was a delight to the mouth and eaaily one of the best Ive ever had. Squid dish was also flavoured well. Beef tongue pide was good, but felt a bit too oily.

What a great dining experience! Our server Mike was really great, his intro to food was very clear and he gave great recommendations. Food wise, the main dish - sea bream is soooo delicious, the skin is crispy and the meat is tender and flavourful. Everything else were quite tasty too. Also, highly recommend their cocktails, we got the Elma 75 and Papillon, they were well balanced and yummy.

Absolutely fantastic! Went with some friends during our visit to Penticton and we ordered a wide array of plates to share. Every single thing was DELICIOUS. On the cocktail front, I really liked the Elma Sour, and the Chili Margarita was also great. Ill definitely come back next time Im in town.

I am deleting my previous review which reflected one of our early experiences with Elma. This new review is proof that trying something again is worth it. We have been back to Elma again and again. The atmosphere is great and the food is even better. One of our favourite places in Penticton.

Fancy , some good some not, its a good experience

Went here for dinner with family, the food was fantastic. I enjoy cooking and have had many different cuisines traveling. The turkish inspired dishes here are bar none amazing. Seasoning is on point, food is hot and delivered right after cooking. Service was knowledgeable and friendly from all staff. Anytime Im in Penticton again Ill be stopping by. 5 + P.s (dont let any bad reviews change your consideration of choosing to dine here, its worth it to try)

The portion was very small. We had to order lots of bread to be full. The quality was average too. I dont recommend it overall.

The portions are quite small compare to a regular Turkish restuarant! We went there on busy hour and they took quite a while to bring the bread and the shish kebab got very cold! food is delicious though

Gorgeous food and great service!

The food is good but almost everything has honey on or in it and some items would be better without. The menu needs to be revamped as even after ordering 3 appetizers and 4 entrees between 4 people, all of us left hungry and had already spent about $300. Overrated and not worth it overall.

I absolutely adored the atmosphere of this place! From the charming design to the delightful music, everything was just perfect. And lets talk about the food it was an incredible experience for Turkish cuisine lovers like me. Although its a fine dining establishment, so dont expect huge portions, the mezze and platters we ordered with our group of six were all outstanding. But you know what truly stole the show for me? The fact that they also serve Raki! It was the highlight of my night and transported me straight to the vibrant streets of Istanbul. I cant express how much I enjoyed that feeling. This place is a gem, and I cant wait to go back for more!

Got a table for sunset on the patio after a short wait around 8:30pm. Dips were fantastic, although I didnt like one of them. The Flatbread is really good. The Turkish coffee is too small a portion for the price of $5. Usually its about double the cup size when I lived abroad, so these 3 sip cups were a little disappointing. Ill be back for dessert though!

This restaurant has everything you could ask for. Amazing food, outstanding service, and a million dollar view on Lake Okanagan. Their Turkish inspired cuisine is so tasty. Served family style, we got to try a little of everything, which was great, because everything was delicious! Their signature cocktails were excellent and there is a large selection of both domestic and imported wines. Ask for a table upstairs on their second floor enclosed patio for the best views of the lake at sunset or, if it s too hot, try the air conditioned first floor eating space. Our only complaint is that we live four hours away. But we will be back for sure the next time we re in the area. Vegetarian options: My wife, a vegetarian, was stuffed when she left. There was ample choices for her, all very satisfying. Dietary restrictions: We had several dietary restrictions including gluten, dairy and eggs. The chef was masterful in finding work around so that everything we ordered was safe to eat and still delicious.

First time trying Turkish cuisine, amazing experience! This place had some of the best food Ive ever had and it was reasonably priced. Highly recommend, we will be back next year.

Very mixed experience. Pros - interesting design, delicious bread, dips and pide. Cons - waited an hour food and it came out later than the the food for the tables around us who ordered after us. Steak in shish kebob was way to raw in places and it was cold when served.

Great food but acoustics are terrible. A good atmosphere is one thing but when it s too loud to hear person sitting across from you it becomes ridiculous. A common failing in many restaurants and frankly unforgivable given modem acoustic building techniques

Overall, a very positive experience for dinner. Sat at the bar and was served by the bartender. She was quite busy making drinks but was always quick to respond when we got her attention. Had the meze flight (girit, eggplant, haydari) to start, and later added a lavash to finish it off. Added grilled squid and chicken shish kebab. All were perfectly cooked and seasoned - juicy, tender, and flavourful. Two tasty cocktails (Elma 75 and Papillon) and we were full. Definitely worth a visit, even if you dont have a reservation and have to wait, like we did.

Went last night with a girlfriend and sat at the bar because it was a Saturday night and we didnt have a reservation and didnt want to wait. It wasn t very busy and the bartender never acknowledged us, we had to learn over and tell her our drink order as she was loading the dishwasher. Maybe 10 minutes later we leaned over again to tell her our food order and she went on to tell us she wasn t ready for our order because she was busy washing the shakers to make our drink. She never asked us how our food was or if we needed anything, we had to ask another server for our bill and to go box. The special margarita cocktail I couldn t finish (and thats a severe rarity). The atmosphere was nice, the pide was great, but the yogurt dip was pretty bland but we weren t going to say anything cause no one cared to ask. We just needed to get out immediately - and never come back!

Amazing food and amazing drinks. Portion sizes are a little small for the price hence the 4 star. But it is for sure worth the visit!

I was really excited for this dinner due to the high rating but unfortunately was really disappointed with this restaurant. Our server wasn t friendly and made it feel very snooty and uncomfortable. The servers weren t very accommodating of dietary restrictions. I m celiac and they were unable to provide safe GF options for any of the carbs (potato, bulgar, pita) so I left quite hungry. They also never came back with an answer on if the feta was pasteurized which is necessary during pregnancy. Our server told us this was elevated dining , but this really missed the mark, certainly wouldn t return.

A phenomenal culinary experience in the BC interior. One of my favourite dining experiences in Canada. Strongly recommend both the drinks and food. We got the Elma 75 and Papillion, fantastic flavour profiles. We arrived for their new seasonal menu and my gosh what a delight. The ingredients truly reflect the regions freshness and diversity. The Prawns were a must but the scallops took home the championship. We barely had time for a picture of the dessert it was so glorious! The textures and unique flavours of the restaurant will truly make this a top 5 experience in the interior!

How to describe perfection? The food is extraordinary delicious and the service is impeccable! The only way to get mideastern food this good would be to fly to Turkey and then try to find the best restaurant in town. The wonderful breads are made fresh daily by the owner Ayse. The ingredients are all fresh with every dish made from scratch when ordered. The large ceramic oven in the center of the kitchen, which can be viewed by all guests, turns out spectacularly flavorful dishes. Don t miss the pistachio dip with freshly baked bread as an appetizer. The filo wrapped cheese baked to perfection and topped with sliced truffles is a show stopper. The lamb shoulder is served in a fancy bread bowl, and is different and better than any I ve ever had! Elma s is the best restaurant in Penticton, and anywhere else for that matter!

An absolute must when in Penticton. Food was incredible. The Halloumi wrapped in phyllo was our favourite. Nicholas the bartender was so great and made our experience memorable.

If you love Turkish food (we do!) or are just in the mood for some culinary adventure, Elmas will not disappoint. Terrific food, service and ambiance. Fabulous lake view from their partially enclosed second floor. The menu is mostly comprised of a broad selection of of mezes, which are smaller appetizer-sized dishes comparable to Spanish tapas. It was my second time visiting Elma and everything about it was incredible. The food was delicious, bread was fresh and crispy yet soft, we ordered family style which is what is recommended. Everything was so fresh and flavourful. We ordered a few bottles of wine that our server topped up as we drank, our server Mike was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is beautiful right on Okanagan beach, the interior design was trendy yet welcoming. This is a must try for anyone visiting Penticton.

Ladies and gentlemen, are you looking for judgemental waiters and meat thats filled with cumin? How about beautiful metal plates that pull the heat out of the food? A place you have to book 2 weeks in advance? Do I have the place for you! Enjoy lukewarm water and the waiter giving off the general feeling that youre a burden! Youll never pay more to feel poor! Enjoy getting interrupted as you try to enjoy overpriced cocktails and they wipe down your table like youre a nuisance! Worried youre missing out? Dont! Here at Elma youre paying to much to feel like your just in the way of the next guests

We loved our dining experience in Elma, if you are Turkish and missing some Turkish food this is the place or if you want to try Turkish food I would say this is the right place to try since not every place makes them in a right way :) ( Elma has a Turkish chef and it shows!) We started with small meze called girit and continued with squid and cheese pide. What I liked most about the dishes how the flavors were all right amount. Can not stop myself from complementing to owner Ayse, as we watched the kitchen she was on top of everything, it shows that how much this place is taken care of! Service was amazing and kind too! Get the mezza trio, bust honestly everything was unreal!

Must visit in Penticton for a nice dinner out. The dip Muhammara was 11/10. Plus the Turkish Emla bread was perfection (slightly doughy with a sourdough ferment taste). Seafood Pide was also fabulous, fair amount of seafood, crust had a beautiful bounce and made a good vessel for left over Muhammara dip. Elma Cocktails had a distinct Turkish flavour with pomegranate and hibiscus. Took a chance and was able to get a walk in table on a smoky Sunday evening. On a non-smoky afternoon we would have had a nice view. Server was also lovely and gave us some local recommendations.

By far the one of the highlights of our culinary tour of BC so far. This little hidden gem in Penticton will not disappoint. Ive never eaten Turkish food before and was delighted to try something new. I could have eaten the whole menu but the wife said no. There was some commotion with some other patrons during our visit and the staff all maintained a very professional manner. Understated street presence but wonderful food. We had the Girit (bread with a cheese, basil, mint spread), Sujik Pide (like a flatbread pizza), Pan fried scallops and the Hanger Steak Kabob. Great flavors, carefully prepared, fresh and very accessible (something for everyone). I wish we could have tried more. Definitely worth coming back to.

The perfect balance of modern and tradition, Elma brings fresh Turkish inspired food to Penticton. There was careful attention put into every detail of this restaurant. The large wooden door to the tiling inside that the owners actually had flown in from Turkey make it so special. We loved the design of everything and found it a little familar and asked the owners if they worked with Glasfurd & Walker. They did and what a beautiful outcome. This is not only one of the best restaurants in the Okanagan - it is probably one of the best restaurants in BC.
