Hokuto Sushi & K-Kimbap in Penticton

Good little spot in Penticton. We were the only ones there, so cant comment on service when busy, but friendly staff and good quality sushi rolls. Fair prices and good clean filtered water is always a plus. Would recommend!

Yet another incredibly disappointing. Asian food experience here in Penticton. Maybe I should have ordered sushi, looking at other reviews, but I ordered chicken bibimbap. It was some shredded veg, a portion of an egg, some rice and a little bit of (I think?) chicken. I cook, so I know the total retail cost of the dish, minus prep, was no more than $2. Commercial cost would be less. Now I know that, coming from Vancouver, my bar is set rather high. But I dont understand why people come here and see that there is a niche market and think they can lowest common denominator their way to making a living. Ive been through this before. People come to a village thinking theyre going to be the only game in town and therefore they can cheap out and kill it. Instead: everybody is dissatisfied, word gets around and eventually nobody buys their food because its bland and the portions are disappointing and they end up closing and going out of business. Weve all seen it happen. This isnt rocket science. Good food, good price, good service.Thats the secret to a successful restaurant. And, DONT BE GREEDY!

Loved the yu-bo, and the kimbap. Has self service tea and water.

The best Sushi outside of the lower mainland.. Cali Rolls.. umm, teriyaki.. umm.. Will visit again.. for sure.

This is hands down one of my favourite sushi places in town. They always remember me when I head in and have a smile on their face! Their sushi is delicious and yet very reasonably priced. My wife and I eat here all the time!

I absolutely loved my experience here. I went with a couple of coworkers and we stopped there completely by chance. It s run by a husband and wife and they are obviously very hard-working and talented. The awesome roll was exactly that Awesome! The broth in the udon soup was amazing. I highly recommend!

Please note that you have to go place your order at the desk before sitting down. This seemed to confuse many of the customers. Service is quick and staff is polite. Food was good and serving sizes were good for the prices. Will definitely be back.

Came in at 6:30 on a Sunday night to an empty restaurant. Was told they were too busy with takeout orders to seat us and it would be a 2 hour wait. Find a place that actually wants your business. What a joke.

This sushi restaurant has to be hands down the best and friendliest restaurant in Penticton. I dreamed of the food here while I was away for 3 years. Still amazing!!

Great service, Dietary restrictions: Kids are celiac, and the food was tasty and staff was knowledgeable about gluten content, GF soy sauce etc! Kid-friendliness: Our kids love avocado and cucumber rolls, and they were tasty and good value!

Walked all the way over there to be told there is a 2 hour wait for dining in due to take out orders. Not a single person sitting inside. Not even nice about it.

This is the best sushi Ive ever had in my life. Highly recommend the house roll its so bomb!! The house salad has a extremely tasty dressing. The tea is lovely and the servers are so kind. Im excited to come back

This place may not be the most ambient dining area, but their sushi is delicious and super good value for money. I love the specialty rolls. Only thing I wish is that they d use wild salmon instead of farmed, or even offer it as an additional $$.

Great food, excellent service. Wait times can be a bit high if you order too late. But understandable. I m told it s a ma and pop shop. So not a lot of staff. The quality of food makes up for that.

Was recommended by 2 different coworkers to try the crazy girl roll from here and its by far the best sushi Ive had in penticton since I moved here. Fast friendly service. So good. Highly recommend.

Awesome find in Penticton! We were supposed to go to Cleopatra Cafe but noticed it changed its name. Didnt look appealing so we decided to go to Hokuto instead!!! And boy! What a great Japanese restaurant. We had Seafood Udon, Chicken Bibimbap and Prawns Tempura! All very tasty and fresh! Folks who run it are very nice! Ordered their poke bowl to go lol

This is a little hidden gem! I highly recommend this place! This is a must try Sushi restaurant in Penticton. The spicy tuna roll and BC roll were some of the best Ive ever had. The flavors were delicious. Their Avocado Sunomono Salad was yummy also! Parking: Free parking behind building.

It was practically a take out join. We dined in but due to still operating as if covid was still an issue, it wasnt a great dine in experience.

First time ordering from here and honestly not impressed. I asked for extra teriyaki sauce on both my dishes and they came with barely any, especially the roll so it was very dry and lacked taste. Service was friendly but not sure if I will be coming back

Hokuto has super kind staff, excellent prices and delicious food. We order there regularly and the food is always top notch. The crazy girl roll, crazy boy roll, deep fried California roll, and the awesome rolls are some of our favorites! Great portions too. Highly recommended if youre ever visiting Penticton or if you live in Penticton.

Best sushi in Penticton, and better than any place Ive had sushi in Kelowna. The crazy boy and crazy girl rolls are perennial special rolls and I highly recommend ordering one of them if you visit or order take out. Ive eaten at some of the rival sushi places - one rhymes with MOJO - and honestly they put more effort on the presentation and less into the rolls. Hokuto is the opposite, sure the inside is minimal and the outdoor dining near a busy corner intersection, but the food is more than worth it. Go grab some rolls from here, add in some gyoza, and you wont be disappointed!

Great food, excellent service. I have no idea where any negative reviews come from. Ive eaten at plenty of restaurants across the globe, and for a small town restaurant Hokuto serves consistently excellent food. Highly recommend.

I wanted to be able to rate the food, service, and ambience, but the hours of operation as posted on Google were inaccurate. So all I know is that they cant post their hours accurately, and that was really annoying for our party of 6.

Really good sushi! They even do the rice on some of of the rolls in a long boat shape instead of round sushi... Never seen that before. Loved it and so much easier to pick up and eat. Very tasty, reasonably priced.

Best sushi in town. Period. Ive been to every place in town and at Hokuto the price and quality cannot be beat. Husband and Wife staff are kind and remember me, even though I only visit one or two weeks out of the year, they recognize me when I enter and even remember my order! Whenever I am in Penticton, I make sure to stop in and you should too!

Food is always consistently good. I also bring my own containers for takeout and theyre great about it. Only downfall is the decor and and that they close pretty early... Not uncommon for Penticton though.

Really disappointed with this buisness. I ordered 5 types of sushi rolls and was told my order would be ready in 45min for a pick up order. I get the food, go home and immediately notice that my salmon rolls are room tempature and are extremely mushy as though they were left out on a counter until needed. My yam tampura roll was cold and the only good thing that tasted like it should is the Miso soup. I will not be ordering again as food consistancy is apparently lacking especialy when they are busy with suposed take out orders and an empty restaurant.

We come here all the time, and we have never been disappointed. The food is always perfectly made and the place has a certain authenticity about it. The place is owned by a family who live upstairs and they are always happy and friendly. The sushi chef has a little stand right at the front of the restaurant, where you can see what hes doing! I highly recommend this place not only for the sushi, but for its other Japanese food as well!

My girlfriend and I eat at Hokuto often, usually to get our sushi fix. It is often busy with take-out orders, but if you can get in to sit; you are in for a treat! The couple who own it, and their staff are awesome and the food is delicious. Definitely my favorite sushi place in town and I would recommend it to anyone.

Love this little resturant. On my first night in Penticton I stopped here and was warmly welcomed and the food was tasty and well made. I have tried some of the other sushi places in Penticton on my trip and this remains my favourite.

Both times in the past year I have gone in the wait times were over an hour. Tried again yesterday October 16/17 and same thing so went next door instead. No complaints about the food but they just dont have the capacity to deal with a full restaurant.

The food is so good, all the sushi options are delicious, and I love their gyoza! The service can be a bit slow sometimes but if youre not in a rush then it doesnt really matter. Ive been here many times and will continue to visit!

Solid sushi place. The service was good, the food was okay and the place is a mid-range sushi restaurant in Penticton. If you want better youll have to go elsewhere and pay more but if your looking for a decent cheeper meal this is fine.

I love this place, the sushi is some of the best Ive had and the sushi chefs artistry is beautiful. Small place so dont go a peak times and you will be happy you did.

Rolls are well prepared and their specialty rolls are different from other options available in town and super tasty.
