KAZUO NOGUCHI Sushi Genki Owner/Chef : Profile He was born in Kumamoto city, JAPAN. After he graduated Housei University in Tokyo, he started working at Japanese Kaiseki fine dining "Genkai" and Sushi restaurant in Tokyo, JAPAN. He moved to Canada in 2001 and started working at The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel as a Demi Chef De Partie Sushi. Then he’s been working as a Sushi chef in CANADA and also he’s been working as a Canadian food cook at Qails’ Gate estate Winery. He moved to Penticton on May, 2012 and opened Sushi Genki on June, 2012.

Great ramen place good price. Cozy little spot. I wish it had more room so more people could sit in and enjoy the amazing food. Highly recommend!
My brother researched for the best ramen and Sushi Genki was found. We had to try it out and what a find. The place is small so I would definitely recommend take out. However, best ramen we have had outside of Japan so far. If you can get a table, it is a cute place to sit in and eat. The black garlic ramen was delicious. Wait for food was well worth it. Will be back
My absolute favourite place to go to get ramen!! The owner is so sweet and friendly. I always get the black garlic ramen and Gyoza combo which comes with 4 deep fried gyozas. It is always amazing. The ramen is SO flavourful. First time trying their yaki gyozas and they were delicious as well. Very small restaurant but insane quality of food. I’d recommend this place to anyone and everyone!
The ramen was rich and had really good depth of flavour (black garlic was mmmm!). Also had a delicious daily special sashimi platter. Sushi rice was perfectly seasoned for the omakaze nigiri special also. I also ordered the negi hamachi hand roll (not pictured) and it was delicious. It’s a very small restaurant with only 4 small tables.
Very ambient!!! I liked everything from the first site. The place is small, and might be not easey to spot from the street, but extremely cozy. Excellent taste of music, the food is outstanding!! Serving is also at high level. The host was nice and kind, looked like she was if not the only person working there, than maybe one of the few. Service is fast and clean!!! Much recommended!!
This was the best ramen I’ve had. I’m not stretching my truth. The best!! Served with 3 pork dumplings. The ramen was the main. The pork dumplings were done perfectly and they were delicious. The black garlic ramen was unbelievably good. I would have liked a few more noodles but that’s my hunger speaking, not my taste buds. I’m here for 3 more weeks so I’ll definitely be back. Only 4 tables inside with an additional 3 stools at an eating bar. So if you don’t have to don’t go at noon. It’s really nice inside. It’s clean and it’s organized. The woman who looked after me is one of the owners and she’s a sweet person. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but do yourself a favour and go in to see for yourself. The menu is not short of options. There are many to choose from. I finished with the mango ice cream which they don’t make in house, but was absolutely delicious
Found another new favorite little gem in town. The food was outstanding. Didn't realize how busy it would be and will be ordering ahead next time or not waiting until I'm starving to go lol had to wait 45 minutes for food but I understand why. I'm not the only person in town that knows how good it is lol food was delicious and presentation was beautiful. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. <3
Great little place on a busy street and it can be easy to drive right by. Good tasted great. Our host was very friendly and pleasant and expressed much gratitude. I felt welcome. It is a tiny place so you get your own water and go up to roll to order and pay. Tables are cleared for you which is nice. There are no public washrooms.

First time there the Atmosphere was amazing the Workers was very nice. The food was amazing. I got the Beef Teriyaki and rice and it was excellent. The Beef was perfect. My two friends got the Ramen and they also said it was amazing Definitely going again.

Residents of Penticton are incredibly fortunate to have this restaurant in their backyard! For Japanese expats, this place is a rare gem that serves authentic Japanese cuisine. Finding great Japanese food in the US can be a challenge, but this restaurant is well worth a road trip. The food is exceptional, and the warm hospitality of the female staff, with their bright smiles, makes it a truly special experience. :)

Absolutely fantastic sushi and ramen. The tonkatsu was incredible, as were the noodles, great taste and texture, super fresh. The sushi and sashimi were also extremely fresh, probably the best dynamite roll Ive had. Soft fresh rice, soft fresh fish, and very good. It is extremely small in there, and seating space is limited, so it may be best to plan in advance if youre looking to sit down. I will be coming back for sure.

The food is wonderful. Prepared with great care and concern. This is some of the best Japanese food I have ever had. Completely unexpected in Penticton. The ambiance and service are excellent just very small. We had the gyoza ( which I thought were homemade), spicy Tuna, and a crispy chicken Teriyaki bowl. All were among best I have had anywhere. One of, if not the best beef teriyaki rice bowl Ive ever had. Every bite was brimming with flavour. Not overly sweet like some teriyaki sauces can be, but just sweet enough to offset and compliment the slightly tangy and fresh vegetables/ginger. I didnt eat in the restaurant but it had a good atmosphere even though the dining area was a bit on the smaller side. Lots of good smells from the kitchen and they had some classical/jazzy music playing as well.
Excellent Aburi Salmon roll! Excellent gyoza, pan fried, light and crispy! Excellent albacore sashimi, melts in your mouth! Would come back again in a heart beat if we were local.

Sushi Genki+ Ramen exceeded my expectations. New to the area, but cant believe I havent been here sooner as a lover of ramen and Japanese food. We ordered the kotteri rich ramen, classic hakata ramen, and gyoza. The crispy pork gyoza were incredible and had a crispiness that is hard to describe, and came with two dipping flavours which was a nice touch. The ramen was everything I had hoped for. It had a deep complex flavour with quality ingredients, even down to the ceramic bowls and spoons. As most people have mentioned, the service was genuine and the space was cozy and cute. Cant wait to go back.
If I could give it 100 stars I would great food great price Ramen was the best I have had since I went to China the dum som was fantastic and the way the food came out and was plated was so beautiful and the spice that they give you with the Ramen was so spicy and delicious I now want to get some for home. They are a little hole in the wall but if you are a highschooler you know them well. So if you are in the area check them out
My go to place for Ramen whenever I m in Penticton. The owners are very nice people and the Ramen is some of the best I ve ever had.
I ve yet to find ramen as good as their tonkotsu anywhere in Canada. Crazy delicious.

Ive always loved sushi Genki sense I was in highschool right across the street and I just wanted to say thank you to the absolutely wonderful owners for keeping the quality and the stellar service going I hope to continue eating in this amazing restaurant for years to come.
The soup is the best among all the ramen (Japanese) restaurants in Penticton. Even if you add noodles, the soup will not become watery. If you want to eat authentic ramen in Okanagan, this is the place.

The good amazing , the atmosphere amazing , the service amazing Only giving 3 stars of atmosphere because of some belligerent guy with his young child who was talking about cocaine and both being really loud while there was clearly 2 people on separate relaxing dates prior to him showing up. So the atmosphere isnt really their fault The food was absolutely amazing and crispy gyoza . The lady was sweet and gave me extra hot powder Incase I wanted to buff it up more. Im coming back none the less. Ill personally tell the guy to shut up myself if he comes back in there.

Absolutely lovely people. Wonderful little shop. However this was my first experience and I went during what seemed to be a very busy time. We ordered a $66 platter that was mediocre quite honestly and disappointing for the price. The gyoza are amazing but perhaps they were rushed on the sushi, it was sloppily rolled.

I stumbled upon this cozy spot and let me tell you, their ramen is the best ramen Ive had here in Penticton! The broth is rich, noodles perfectly chewy, and the toppings are flavorful. A hidden gem for sure!

My favorite place for sushi in Penticton! The food here is made by a Japanese chef and you can taste the difference! The quality is notable and the ingredients are perfection. Everything on the menu is delightful- the ramen is filling and flavorful and even the rice in the sushi rolls is superior. Consistent, fresh and delicious food. The space is small, but very clean, and attention to detail is appreciated. The couple that own this place are so hard working, friendly and skilled at making delicious food. Thank you Sushi Genki :)

Hit and miss. Last order had to wait 30 min past time given after ordering ahead. The sushi was soggy falling apart when trying to pick-up.
This place stands out for good flavour ramen and dimsum in Penticton. Small corner restaurant by the school, next time will go before or after school lunch break, got a bit busy with kids getting lunch.

Not only the best ramen in Penticton, but the best ramen in the Okanagan. The tonkotsu and BBQ pork ramen are phenomenal. The broth only gets better, and more flavourful, as you eat and the noodles have a great consistency. Dont miss out on this place.

Such a cute place, ramen was delicious with amazing broth, sushi & sashimi tasted fresh. I bought take out back to hotel for the kids. Price is good, food arrived quickly. Would love to go back again before heading back home especially the RAMEN!

I visit this shop every time Im in Penticton. Authentic ramen and udon, so flavourful. Highly recommended!
We went there at 2 pm and it reached its capacity so we sat at the patio. And that s the reason why I didn t give 5 stars as we were sweating while we were eating due to the hot weather. With that being said, we ordered a combo, 2 rolls of sushi and 1 Tonkotsu, sushi rolls are average but the ramen is amazingly good!!! If I come back again, will definitely try other items as well.

This place is so great! Its very quaint and unassuming. Beautiful atmosphere with dim lighting and soft music. The service is outstanding. We had the black garlic ramen, dim sum and sushi combo, and the BBQ eel roll. Everything was so fresh and flavourful. Probably one of the best ramen Ive ever had. I highly recommend coming here for dinner.

My favorite sushi place, the food is absolutely delicious, they have a good selection of sushi and other dishes, really kind owners, if you order from here be patient with them since its only 2 people running the place (as far as I know) and its usually busy, but its worth waiting :)

Best ramen.
I have been a fairly regular customer over the last few years and loved their food. Recently, they keep increasing their prices and taking things off the menu. for example, I used to be able to get a dim sum sushi combo for like 12.50 reasonable. then they add a salad and soup and stuff and increased to 15.00 yen they take salad away and stay at 15. food quality is still good but most things I enjoyed they have taken off the menu or raised prices too high.
This small cozy shop on Eckhardt is known for making some of the best sushi and ramen noodles in the city. Its well worth the trip to try their great food.

Amazing authentic japanese food
I usually never order ramen for takeout because I always found the containers awkward and messy, and the noodles get soggy. However, Sushi Genki is so caring and thoughtful that they have these 2 in 1 containers that hold the soup on the bottom and the noodles and toppings on the top! You just pour the soup in and everything stacks on top of each other. The container is wide, so it s really just as convenient and tidy as eating out of a real bowl. Their Tonkatsu broth is very creamy and flavourful, but not heavy. Service was friendly and kind too. This place truly is a gem!

Great Ramen
Their ramen is to die for. Ive had both the tonkatsu and black garlic ramen and they are both fantastic. I am not a ramen expert, but they both have such complex, savory flavors that are worth the five-star rating.
Always have amazing service, and Ive never had a complaint since theyve opened. The food is always amazing, I will always recommend

Great little sushi joint. Its hidden away and hard to find (no banner!?) with little seating available (due to covid) but order in advance and get it to go and you wont be disappointed.
The best sushi places are authentic tiny hole in the wall places and this place does not disappoint. Lunch was amazing and the food was so fresh - always a good choice to have the spicy pork ramen, try the toro or the scallop if youre looking for great flavors and textures.

The Ramen was legit. Tasted the same as the streets of Tokyo. Made with care at a reasonable price and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend. Small dining area so come early or order take out.

A little on the salty side, but thats just me being sensitive to salt, not that their recipe isnt spot on!! This place is awesome. The ramen was so good i finished it before i could take a picture. The presentation of the food is beautiful. Heres whats left of the spicy dragon roll. It is a tiny place with only 2 tables inside. Be prepared to wait if you come at rush hour. We came in at 11:20am for lunch and there was already a line up to dine in and take out. Id recommend call ahead for take out.
