2985 Skaha Lake Rd, Penticton, BC V2A 6G3, Canada
Quaint Thai eatery with a low-key vibe offering traditional curries, soups, noodles & rice dishes.
Ordered take out - technically edible but definitely disappointing. Almost no protein in any of the dishes (a few little fragments of chicken/beef), boiled egg in the fresh roll is really odd, ketchup-esque pad Thai, and the pad kee mao is made with pancit noodles (also odd). Everything was overwhelmingly bland. Curry was very fishy which is fine but almost no veggies except soggy green beans and small amount of protein- watery, very little actual curry sauce. Thai salad was technically a salad from a Thai place but nothing else about it was Thai (cold fried tofu on iceberg lettuce with a boiled sliced egg, tomato, and cucumber). The person who took our order was very kind and polite. The service was lovely. (Pad Thai, pad kee mao, fresh roll, swimming Rama - cold watery peanut sauce, “Thai salad”, and panang curry. $115 before tip.)
Went for lunch before the Flames/Canucks young stars game. The server who sat us was so sweet and friendly. Obviously we were about to experience authentic Thai food! The first food that came out was a spring roll, which was included with the red curry. They were crunchy and delicious. The panang red curry was exceptional! Oh my word, so good! So good that I ordered another one! My daughter ordered the pad Thai. She loved it. I tried it, and it was an unusual tasting pad Thai, but very good as well. Though the servings seem smaller than usual, the taste is out of this world
I ordered Beef Pad Normai and Pad khing was a small portion. The beef was dryer than the desert. It was sooo spicy I asked for level 1. The sauce was runny and overall it was just a terrible meal. I’m very disappointed for the quality. This isn’t good Thai at all. It’s a shame to even call this Thai food. Let’s reheat and microwave from bucket.
It was such a meal and our server Dao (I probably spelled that wrong, sorry) was great fun! Not pushy but she made sure we had a pitcher of water as the restaurant got busy so we wouldn't be waiting for her. She helped me find something new to try and it was delicious! There was music in the background but not loud at all so we could still hear each other while we visited. Very affordable and yummy! We will be back often!
I’ve had take out from Iyara many times but this was my first time dining in. I loved the atmosphere; very private and quiet which was ideal for conversation. The service was perfect with a very warm attitude but no hovering or unnecessary disruption and all of our dishes were quality checked. I loved the attention to detail of presentation in the matching dish-ware and the Thai music was an appreciated touch that added to the ambiance without distracting from conversation. I had the Thai iced tea which I believe is made with sweetened condensed milk and I loved it. No, this is not the food you get in Thailand but I personally appreciated the option to have more mild spice level and will definitely be back!
Great Restaurant. Lovely food ! Very kind waitress, helpful! I loved the spring rolls & the mussels very much. The price is very fair. I will definitely come back.
Was great as always had the chicken curry fried rice mmmmm but will say their Green Curry is awesome !
Ordered through Skip. Food total was $50 + $15 for fees. Half order of TomYum chicken soup, prawn cashew and chicken yellow curry with large coconut rice. Taste good. Looks ok.
This was a wonderful surprise, quiet, serene, very fresh ingredients, plenty of flavour, and the sweetest staff. Thank you very much.
Worse fried rice!!!
The pad thai is unreal and big portion
Wonderful Thai Restaurant!! HAS A LOT OF GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS THAT WERE EXCELLENT. FANTASTIC SERVICE!!! Food : 5/5
Not the best Thai food but we loved the atmosphere and service.
The food is amazing
Terrible terrible food. I had the drunken noodles . The chicken was tough and dry Their was no flavour I had read the bad reviews they were having but remembered going there 15 years ago and loving loving their drunken noodles so I wanted to take the risk Sure enough it was horrible! Even the smell! I told the server about it but she did nothing about it and offered no discount or fixing it. A friend of mine had told me the same information how they went downhill but I didn t listen and really wanted to try Today I went for a drunken noodles at the new Thai place in town called happiness Thai And it was like a completely different dish!! Delicious!
So terrible ! Not sure why my picture won t upload No flavour in these noodles. And chicken was tough. Super disappointed in the server not at least making it better for me ( either by discount or bringing me a different dish or fixing it !) Food
Always delicious!!! Never fails!!!
Excellent. Friendly, attentive waitress, fast service with appetizers and meal. Delicious. Right off the grill, perfectly prepared. Just visiting but we will be back before we leave.
Wors customer service, i ordered soup as it helps me heal when i am sick. No bean sprouts were added which is the part of ingredients list(not even close to the proportion the put), they put 10piece of chicken-only had 3 in my bowl, i asked for chicken no pork, but there pieces of pork in it. I called the restaurant she said she will give me 10% discount next time, i denied as i will not go to the place again, i told her i can t come again and she said we need the bowl back and u can take the refund. She just didn t agree and accepted the mistake. I have ordered this soup before, i know the taste and everything in it, was not upto the mark- will rate 1/10
Portions could be a little bigger but Relatively good food for the price.
I just loved their thai food soooo much. Their spice levels are the best. We opted for 4 and it was bang on. I tried their green thai curry with prawns and its my ultimate favourite. Kudos.
The restaurant gives Uthentic Thai cousine and the services are vety very nice. Ill definitely come back again. Parking: Easy to park. Kid-friendliness: My kids enjoy Thai food and mild food that the chef cooks for them.
In a relatively small town like Pen, it s not easy to find good authentic Thai food cooked and served by Thais. I give my two thumbs up if not more for Iyara. This is coming from a southeast Asian who have spent time in Thailand and can tell you you can t get anything more authentic than what you find in Vancouver. I ve been to lots of Thai places in Van and only one at Nanaimo and Hastings can satisfy my taste. Some of the dishes in Iyara have been adjusted accordingly due to its locality for example Tom Yum Guung as opposed to those served on the streets of Thailand - way less spicy. Not trying to give away their recipe - they have what it takes if you re into cultural food. And also due to the availability of fresh ingredients in Canada to make Thai street food, I can say Iyara is doing pretty darn good.
Food smelled rotten Couldnt eat it Cant recommend for any reason Food : 1/5
Only place I get Thai food in Penticton. Love their Pad Thai. Their other menu items that we have tried are also very good. Great take out service and their lunches are very reasonably priced and good portions. Thumbs up!
Very disappointing food. Blunt, no finesse. I didnt find the perfumes and the subtleties of the Thai cuisine. Just stomach filling. On top of this, they charge me for the extra satay sauce I requested.
Amazing food and wonderful service
I don t understand restaurants that are closed on weekends.
Best Thai food around!
The food was okay. Service was also okay only
I ve always loved this place. It s small, simple and won t be disappointed by the food. Try the green curry
I will go back. One day.
Was very good food and tasted very fresh.
Fantastic food, left such a nice taste in your mouth Will definitely come again Reasonable prices Food : 5/5
One of the best places for Tyi food.
Such great tasting food, our favourite Thai food in the city
Would have been 5star if the restaurant was warmer. Food is excellent, service was great
Always so good, thank you
Good food but not open as advertised.
Always enjoy their food. Reminds of my time in Thailand. Service is great and the food is authentic. I also feel like eating out has become outrageously expensive. At Iyara you can enjoy a great meal for a very reasonable price.
First time eating here: 1. Fried Chicken was overcooked and dry. 2. Pad see ew was made using thin vermicelli noodles, this is not the right noodle used for this dish like...anywhere in the world...I assume it was probably to save money as those noodles are cheaper. Chicken was dry in the noodles as well, go figure. Service was ok, food took about 30 mins to come out with only one other table in the entire restaurant. Probably will skip next time, wasnt as flavourful or well cooked as most Thai restaurants Ive been to....
If you like Thai it is the perfect place for it. Reasonable prices, friendly staff.
Very tasty food. Good size portions. Nice and friendly staff.
Decided on dinner platters thinking there would be a bigger portion (like the menu pictures) however it was not. Should be called a small plate, definitely not platter sized. Comes with rice or rice noodles and springs rolls or salad. We opted for spring rolls to start. Hot and crispy but bland and generic with a small portion of what seemed to be a basic plum sauce. Ordered chicken pra ram long song. It came cold. The peanut sauce was tasty however little chicken and veggie. Ordered beef pad kee mau, it was supposed to come with carrots and it did not. A mild light sauce that did taste good but again little beef and veggie. 2 dinner platters did not fill 2 of us up however it was a a decent price at $35 with a 15% tip. We do want to come back and try 3 dishes to fill us up. Lots of potential just lacking follow through!
Came from Vancouver and doing work in Penticton and had lunch here. Surprised with the pricing, it was inexpensive (20% less than what I am used to) and decent size portion. Highly recommend!
Not authentic Thai, we had lemon grass soup and it had gluten in it. My friend cannot eat gluten and got sick within an hour of eating.
Zero stars!! Our food we ordered on skip the dishes, sure smelled ROTTEN! never again! Got a few bites in and thought something smelled off. Fairly certain it was the chicken. Too bad, we used to like this place. It had been years since eating at Iyara, after our favorite chef left, the quality wasnt really there anymore. Thought we would try again. BAD MISTAKE!
Excellent food
great food!
Very disappointed with the food
Not our first time there... Always delicious and prices are very good.
Always have a great meal from here
Doesnt look like much but the food is amazing!
Always excellent service and food.
Great Chicken Pad Thai! Good service, reasonable prices!
Its a cozy little restaurant with friendly staff. The food good but not what I was hoping for, still great little spot for others to enjoy.
Very efficient waitress. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Will be back real soon
I guess its good if you like Thai food. I was brought here to try it, but its just not the kind of meal I like. Tasty though.
Amazing pad thai.
Lovely place great food!
Amazing food! Loved this place prior to COVID and glad they are still here
This is my lunch spot! The food is consistently fresh, flavourful and fast. I would highly recommend. Staff are great!
Good pad thai
Excellent food great staff clean and tidy inside
Authentic food and friendly staff
Best Thai food Ive ever had in Canada! Very authentic, hearty portions, DELICIOUS
The food is great and the prices are very reasonable. Lots of gluten free options which is critical for us. Wine selection is small but appropriate for the food and well priced. Staff super.
I was so excited to see Iyara on skip the dishes. I love the food. Went to place my order, and it said it was now closed - at 6pm? Online they are open until 9. After waiting 10 minutes to get through via phone I tried to place an order for delivery. Was told they have no delivery driver and to try skip the dishes.... I told her I did and they said they have now closed. Her response- they turned it off because they are busy and to try back later. *eyeroll* Whats the point of being on skip the dishes if you dont utilize it?
Food was very bland. I love Thai food. I will not order from here again.
Ordered multiple dishes from the menue tonight from Skip The Dishes. Food was delivered hot and fresh and was exceptionally good! We definitely have a new go to place!!
Food is excellent here and the staff is always super nice!!
The pad thai, green/red/yellow curry as well as the panang are all hits!
Great local Thai food. We had the green curry, garlic prawns, coconut rice, pad thai, and beef noodle soup, all had great flavours, would definitely go back next time we are in town.
Ordered this for dinner last night and it was by far the most disgusting Thai food that I ve ever eaten. Not only could I not eat the Red Curry due to how bad it smelled but the Pad Thai looked and tasted like it was made with spaghetti noodles. A complete waste of $70; I will never eat here again and would suggest caution due to what I suspect are poor food handling methods.
Best food in the Okanagan
Good and fresh. Not overpowering for people not used to thai food.
So good. My favorite restaurant in Penticton
Great stir fried rice..
The food is always delicious.
Finally open. Great meal as usual.
Never miss stopping by for a meal (or several) when visiting Penticton. Best Pad Thai I have ever tried...keeps me going back for more !
Good food and great service always enjoy eating here
Great food. Good service. Food always very fresh.
Thank goodness they reopened...just delicious and extremely friendly staff!!!
Very good food
Not bad
I have no words for just how terrible the gang massaman is here... they butchered it cheaply. They do a great coconut rice though.... I added a pic
Great restaurant with very flavorful food! Lunch menu is a bargain with most dishes priced at $10 or less. Service is usually pretty quick, but on rare occasion can be slow (such as when they receive a big takeout order).
Simply the best Pad Thai Gai!
Good food
Weve had lots of Thai food, and we werent impressed at all with this restaurant. The spring rolls were tasteless, and way too much pastry. The yellow curry was aweful, and they put on old potatoes that didnt even taste like potatoes. Panang curry ... They put so many green beans in it,t try make the plate look full of food.... Good thing I like green beans, but def overkill. My husband got the pad prig king. Not that great either. Just lacked in taste and freshness. Prices were ok, but Ive been to way better restaurants with similar pricing, and the food way better. Service was very slow, and and werent on top of waters or asking how everything was going. My husband had to go to he front to get the waitress a couple times. Id rate it 4/10. And would never go back.
Amazing food, drinks and excellent service!
Really delicious food and friendly staff. Has an authentic Thailand atmosphere.
Amazing and delicious. Really really good. You really need to try this place if youre in Penticton. Its sooooo good.
All the Thai staples here, but also some excellent less-well-known dishes. Try the Tom Kha Gai soup! Kid friendly and great cozy atmosphere. I love a quiet restaurant where you can easily hear all the conversation at the table, and this is it! Service is prompt and courteous too.
Amazing Thai food and great service.
Delicious
Love this restaurant. Almost as good as dining in Chiang Mai or Bangkok.
Mild and a bit bland flavour-wise although as authentic as one can get in the Ok. Skip the creamy hot and sour soup as primarily coconut milk with little heat or interesting items. Pad thai is ok but again bland.
Delicious Thai food. Fast and friendly service
The food was delicious. Anyone looking to eat out should go here
Went here for mothers day Food was amazing but service was a tiny bit slow. I didnt mind. It was liesurely and I enjoyed it.
Was horrible food and couldnt communicate with the staff in English!! Doesnt even deserve one star in my opinion!
Amazing food and friendly service. Everything is great, but the green curry chicken and the chicken satay are so good you want to order extra to take home.
Great food and even better service
I came in not expecting much being in a small town. I was really pleasantly surprised! The green curry is delicious, and the fried bananas are amazing!
Very Good Food....clean washrooms
Always enjoy the curry dishes here, good service, and awesome prices! Especially the lunch special. Get the L31!!
Tried this place out one time, the service was pretty bad and the food was definitely not that I expected.. I have been to Thailand and also used to live in Keremeos where to Thai restaurant is exceptional so my hopes were perhaps too high. I was pretty disappointed though. I feel like I couldve made more authentic tasting food..
Food is always excellent!!
I love Thai food. Ive been to some great places in BC and Alberta. This place was a huge disappointment in comparison. Service was poor, though we were one of only 3 tables. Food was meager and bland and we left still hungry and disappointed! Skip this one!
Great food
Great food, friendly service for a reasonable price.
Good food and quick service lunch prices are really good
Good food and service, I wouldnt say anything was a wow factor but Id visit again.
Good food
Best Thai food in the Okanagan !
A pleasant Thai eatery. My family has enjoyed many satisfying meals here over the years.
Delicious and authentic food. Very reasonably priced. Excellent service.
Excellent Thai food at great prices
Ive always loved Iyara, great food, great cost, and friendly staff.
First time here food okay. Service needs work on a Friday its busy they should have more than 2 people serving. Atleast have a buser who can serve water etc Also 2nd person started at 530 should have been earlier.
Very authentic Thai menu. Facilities are getting old, but we found them quite acceptable and authentic. Staff is excellent in helping with menu. Spice levels are set with your order 1-5. 3 is pretty hot, so take it easy.
Great food and friendly staff. Would definitely dine here again!
Best Thai in Penticton and authentic atmosphere. Good service, tasty food, and good timely service.
Run by Thais this is as best as you can get in Penticton!
Very good. Always excellent food and service
Never fails to serve delicious Thai.
In a word. Disappointing. Very tired restaurant with an exhausted theme and a menu of very mature bamboo carrots floating in a curry fish sauce goo. Cold or old rice is extra...this site insisted on a star...not me..zero minus star
Delicious!
Superlative menu & wonderful staff ... I have a great meal everytime I indulge in Iyara
We picked up dinner here based on good reviews. The food here is insult to the Thai kitchen. For instance Pad-Thai was made with ketchup instead of Thai sauce, thats just pure disgusting ... you shouldnt be serving food to people.
Friendly service, delicious food and large portions. We really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Great choice for date night, we will definitely try it again next time we are in Penticton.
Good food, friendly service and pleasent smiles! Very accommodating. The Thai Fried Rice is one of our regular orders.
Its pretty good, their Thai iced tea is something real special. Quite nice portions and you can ask for as spicy as you like.
Delicious authentic cuisine and great service
Go here all the time nice people good lunch.
Our favourite Thai lunch/dinner place outside of Vancouver.
Will definitely be back
This is the best Thai food in Penticton for sure. Can you get better in Vancouver or Calgary? Of course, but for small town you cant beat this place. Decor is nice and the service has always been very friendly.
The tom ka kai is excellent. I have frequently stopped in to place my order and havent had to wait long for them to make it. You can also have a drink at the bar while you wait. This place is better at the less popular dishes than green curry ect.
Awsome food awsome service
This is the first time I ever write review of Thai food because its really really that bad!! Yes Im Thai & just moved here and I order everything in my Thai language and thought I order simply Thai food its going to be good but nope!! Food not taste much of anything. Dont have any care of cooking its really Bad! Very disappointed and I dont think Ill ever go back there again.
Food is OK but in my opinion both the restaurants in Keremeos and Osoyoos are better. Service definitely needs to improve. When I arrived, I was the 4th table. The waitress walked past me at least 4 times without acknowledging my existence and I was just about to get up and leave when a menu was brought over. Whatever happened to Hi, Ill be with you in a minute.
Excellent, quick and friendly service. We had the Pad Thai - it was quite tasty! Will be back.
The food was good on my last visit. Its a bit out dated on the inside.
What an amazing place to grab grub after crushing the crags. Affordable food, wonderful service and outstanding food. Our party of 8 loved every dish. Will definitely go again and highly recommend it.
Pad Thai to die for.
Good was excellent. Flavours were strong and traditional. The spring rolls were made here, not frozen from the food service company. Curry was great, prices are very reasonable. Weve eaten Thai food in a lot of places and this restaurant cares about making good food.
Casual style, you walk in and seat yourself. They seem popular for take-out orders, but we dined in. Would recommend their curries!
Small and cozy with a basic Thai menu. The food is very good and very reasonably priced. The staff are great and the location is very convenient.
I absolutely love their Pad Thai!
Stopped for lunch with the family and everyone loved it. Great Pad Thai and spring rolls.
Excellent food. They even accommodated some traditional requests that were not on the menu.
Never eaten much Thai before it was quite good and willbe comeing back to try more dishes
Great food for a good price. Big servings.
