24 Park Rd, Peterborough PE1 2TD, United Kingdom
Sophisticated mainstay serving elevated, Afro Carribean /African-influenced dishes.
I have been looking for somewhere that I can find authentic west African cuisine for years and I have finally found it. The food was amazing, the service exemplary and the hostess was a joy to talk with. THANK YOU. I will definately be back
I never write reviews but on this occasion I had to. This is the worst place I have eaten. Total con. Cost me £14 for a bowl of rice and three bones that hardly had any meat on it. The reason I did not complain at the time as I would never do, for the simple fact that, the food might be spat in. I know this happens as I used to work in takeaways The good reviews YOU see are probably from the staff themselves or friends. AVOID
The food here is absolutely fantastic, the pepper soup is out of this world and oh God!! Moi Moi is all the way to the stratosphere ... Good people/good place to dine/good food. Love it
30.10.24 Order for Catering - I had to edit this review as i couldnt find how to post a new one or upload photos. We had a family function that was 3 hrs away from Peterborough and needed Nigerian food and the food to get to the location. Now when i say this is the Lady for the job/catering..guys this is the Lady for the job💯👌. Food was cooked and packed so well..customer service immaculate👌💯. She will communicate, give a quote, update you and agree everything so well. Whether its a very small function or a big one you are in the best hands. Mum's Sensetion has been the best caterer for Nigerian food we have had. I would absolutely recommend this lady. She is so lovely, she does her best. Everyone loved the food, we were so happy. Thank you😊❤️ A month ago - Eat in: Food is always amazing , service is great, they were so lovely ...i keep coming here ..i would definitely recommend , thank you mum's sensation always.
Had some seafood okro and pounded yam…It was really tasty and amazing. The atmosphere was great and the owners are lovely people.
Mum’s Sensation is a great find in Peterborough. We wanted a taste of Naija and we got it. A very friendly and homely environment with authentic yet affordable Nigerian cuisine. Love our visits and would highly recommend when you’re in the area.
Food is incredibly cheap. My wife had pounded yam and they were so big with the soup enough to eat the two wraps she had. I had ofada and it was a little bit undercooked buh the chicken more than made up for it. Owner is nice though. I would definitely go here frequently and tell people about it too
Desk service was lovely and place was busy enough. Took the food home and opened up the curry goat to my surprise it was watery like a stew rather than a curry and there was hardly any goat meat with the exception of a few chunks. First impression was terrible and won’t be going back ever again.
Food is good but delivery takes longer time.. Would try dining in soon
Different Nigerian dishes to try out here. I got spicy kuli-kuli as well, which I loved.
I bought pounded yam and Egusi. Soup was small and only 2 pieces of beef for £14. What a reap off.
Ordered afang soup as take out, hoping to get that authentic naija taste but alas it had a horrible taste and it was too salty. This is not the first time am having to eat a salty soup from ur menu. Please do better we need the authentic naija flavors in your meals.
The best African restaurant I ve tried so far. The jollof was very much giving Nigerian jollof! The moi moi was very tasty as well.
The best restaurant in Peterborough where you can enjoy African cuisine at its finest. The service is amazing and the food is delicious.
I always look forward to having the grilled fish with fried yam and sauce! So sumptuous!!! Highly recommended.
It s a lovely place with amazing food
Disappointing experience on this occasion, as I have been there before. Placed an order for delivery and specified a certain time scale for payment. Things from there went downhill. The waiter refused to take accountability and she was in the wrong, she argued and tried to justify the delay and slow communication, tried to pressure me to still accept the order after I have cancelled the order, she was more concerned about her paying the delivery driver as opposed to having inconvenienced me, zero customer service as there was no remorse, understanding and no resolution.
A great place to visit
Went in there this evening with my family. Absolutely lovely food and lovely hosts. Great atmosphere, was like being at someone s house. There was a previous comment left by someone about the attitude of the staff- from what I experienced today I don t believe it. Really important to support local businesses and really glad we did. The jollof was excellent, fufu was excellent, loved the meat pies, beef was on point . Couldn t fault it. Go and try something new if you have never tried Nigerian food
The food was delicious.... I ordered okra soup with fufu.. It was a small serving for 13pounds but soo good!!!! Visiting from Houston TX and had tast for this... will be back next time Im in town.. Food : 5/5
The food was great Attitude and service were appalling! Staff spoke rudely to me on two occasions. Never buying from them again. Terrible service twice! Food : 3/5
10/10 food, the environment was great and lovely accommodating staff. Thank you Mums sensations, my family and I enjoyed our time. We will be returning very soon !
Very tasty food. Can t stop talking about it.
I usually dont like to leave a review, but I had to leave one here, the best fried rice I ever had, and meat pie. Not only is the food good, but the customer service is 5 star! Go check them out!
The cow foot, goat and jerk is delicious here the staff are absolutely lovely and will return. Also very happy to finally find somewhere that seasons plantain. Food
We visited early Friday evening any bits on the menu when the food arrived it was everything we expected really nice thank you we will revisit
Called up to make an order this evening. The woman who took my order seemed friendly enough, but seemed to add a little extra to the price as it varied from the menu price, but even worse was that as I was asking my partner to confirm his choices, she mumbled something and hung up on me. Needless to say, that ends my quest for Nigerian food in Peterborough. Would ve been nice to try it out, but I d rather give my money to people who put customers first.
If you value freshly cooked food, eat here!
We really enjoyed our experience. Egusi soup was deliciously. My kids really enjoyed the rice and stew, puff puff and meat pies. Also, get a waffle for dessert. Thank you to the owner and servers. Really made the experience great. We will be coming back for sure.
It felt like home away from home. I enjoyed the dishes
I booked some catering for a small birthday get together! The response time and professionalism was top rate! The caterer was really friendly and very accommodating of my needs. I ve been to the store a few times as well, the music is always lovely and it has a very welcoming vibe! The food was fabulous! Full of flavour and very easy pick up! I highly recommend for anyone looking to get some quality African and Caribbean food!
I totally agree the chef s food quality is second to none. Always using fresh ingredients and provides an excellent customer service.

I have eaten here twice now and love the atmosphere and the fantastic tasty food. It will definitely be one of my regular places to eat. Kid-friendliness: Very informal and child friendly.
Found this place, cosy, clean, welcoming eatery. Variety of west african foods at a reasonably price. Staff were welcoming and food was quick.
Stumbled upon this family run restaurant while shopping near Queensgate. The staff were both friendly and welcoming, helpfully guiding us through the menu. Our take away order of Jollof rice with chicken, Moi Moi, Souya chicken and Puff Puff was not only reasonably priced but also cooked to perfection. Particularly the Moi Moi, which was the best Ive ever had. We will definitely be returning soon.
Nancy the owner is the best I ever came across, so friendly, helpful, the food was great even though we are vegans, she prepared vegan meals for us which was fantastic. We will always eat there when we are in town. Vegetarian options: Vegan is available upon request.
Food was 10/10. The hospitality was great and they looked after us. Definitely coming back again and would recommend.
First time eating in this cozy African restaurant in the heart of Birmingham. I m impressed with the lovely ambiance, welcoming staff and delicious efo riro and fufu. I m definitely coming back Food
Kind owners, very good food, and good prices
Went here today with my dad and had a variety of food, from the food to the service, to the price, everything was good. The atmosphere was amazing and cant wait to go again.
Really great food and lovely people. We asked what they would recommend and we werent disappointed. Authentic afro-carribean cuisine. Would highly recommend a visit to support this up and coming eatery in Peterborough
Anticipated to check the place out, wasn t disappointed Pounded yam and Efo riro was really nice and surprisingly affordable Food
Good quality, home-cooked food in a welcoming environment. Will definitely return. Thanks :)
This is a nice eating in place. I will not call it a restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The place is clean. The atmosphere is nice. The food is good except the jerk chicken (hard to eat). We recommend it anyway. Better than other places.
We had a great time here with our family! Food was delicious, service was exceptional (the young boys in the till were so well mannered and kind). We had so much fun and Nancy was so sweet and lovely. They couldnt do enough for us. I wish they would do delivery because Im not well and craving the hot pepper soup now. Also it would be great to get the link in the instagram bio working as it doesnt lead anywhere. But these are just technical issues. Cant wait to dine there again!
Newbie to Nigerian cuisine and everything I order was fantastic. Especially the Egusi soup. and I thoroughly enjoyed it all. Will be back soon. Thank you.
Have known Nancy and Alfred for sometime. This was our first Afro restaurant and it was brilliant. They are still building it up. All the best
