The staff were great ... very friendly and had super positive attitudes which probably raised the atmosphere a bit higher than it should be. The food was OK but didnt have an impact either way. Im happy to go back but nothing is pulling me there.

I have never had a bad experience eating here. Their portions are fitting and the staff have always been pleasent to deal with. Their high noon beer and any of their pizzas cant be beat. Such a gem to have downtown.

A reasonable walk from the Peterborough Marina. Tried a beer flight as did my wife. This gave us 8 beers to taste and all were great, which isnt always the case. Maybe the nitro is the one you have to try if only one beer. Also had a Cuban roll, this was really good. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Food, Beer and Service were all great. I had the fish and chips with poutine and it was awesome. Did find it a bit quiet for a Saturday night.

I just had a chicken Caesar salad that was served with chicken thighs. This is certainly abnormal and very un tasty. Chicken Caesar salad is one of my go to meals and I ve never seen it Served with thighs before. The lettuce had turned as well. I ve never in my life left food on my plate but walked away from a full plate.

Great service, nice deck to sit out on, tasty food. Only thing add to the menu is a vegan friendly burger. Excellent variety of beer, and nice little store at the side restaurant to buy take out craft beer

The food is amazing here. Best mojito Ive ever had. To top it off, Sarah might be the best server in the industry. Worth a Michelin star, if not 3.

If you are visiting Peterborough, make sure to come here at least once. This is a place i like to always come, I totally recommend it. Their beer is good, their food is good. Only pet peeve i have, there was no ambiance music playing, which would help create a more inviting space.

Had a lunch here food was really good. Had the calamari, wings and OG chicken sandwich. They were very corteous and accommodating of my dog. Definitely the best restaurant ive eaten that accommodates dogs.

I had reserved a large party table for 20+ people three weeks in advance, the day before my sister s wedding as a welcome dinner for her bridal party. I was informed of the 18% gratuity that is required for a party of that size. I understand that it is a large party and extra work is required for the servers and kitchen, this was not an issue. When we arrived at the restaurant, there was only one server for our entire table. I am giving this restaurant a 1 star review because of their extremely poor customer service. Our server did not introduce herself to the table, she was unfriendly and she did not go over the menu with us. She then took over 30 minutes to start taking dinner orders and I even had to ask her to start taking everyone s orders. She came back once to check on our food but was inattentive and cold. When it is expected to provide an 18% tip for a bill of almost $1000, I would have expected much better customer service. When I provided her with the mandatory tip, she simply looked at the cash, did not bother to say thank you and then walked off. Additionally, when I had booked this dinner I was not informed of a live musician playing directly at the head of our table. When we asked to have the music turned down or moved, we were told that by the server this is where the musician always plays. Their food was okay but like most other reviews indicated - it is overpriced. Management needs to work with their servers on their professionalism and should have at least 2 servers for larger parties. The customer service, lack of communication, live music at the head of the table and overall experience is why I would not recommend this restaurant to family and friends in the future.

Great food and so dog friendly!! We will always stop here with our dogs when passing through! They got a bowl of water and some bacon!

Youre going for the atmosphere. Great live music, fabulous patio and engaging interior. Service, food quality, and price always leave me wanting but its still a great place to go with a good beer menu.

Very pleasant patio. Service was great. Menu is somewhat limited - lots of appetizers, few mains. Good selection of beers. Well suited to anyone wanting beer and snacks on a patio - we would return for this purpose.

Good atmosphere, service was terrible. This girl didnt want to be there and she wanted everyone to know. Our entire table (10 people) was served our dinner and she never came back! Not to see Id we had everything we needed for our meal not even for drinks. We all had empty glasses the entire meal. I had the smash burger. A McDonalds cheeseburger is bigger. For 22$ the price was ridiculous. The food wasnt worth the price at all. 204$ for 4 people to have dinner insane. Definitely not going back. Maybe find another way to make up the profits instead of gouging customers.

Weve been here many times and love the staff. Always friendly. The cooks are great. Great that they have the wine on tap back. Would highly recommend going here. For either a quick drink on the way home or out for dinner with their wood oven pizza or a gathering of friends. If you like craft beer, Im told that its really great.

Sorry but $85 for a 3oz burger with processed cheese, a small greasy dry souvlaki wrap with no tahini or tzatziki and 2 flat beers? My bad, I saw it coming but thats not good and cant support the gouging of prices. I just got a double patty juicy burger yesterday for $6. Im not saying it should cost $6, but I dont see the justification of $22, especially when the 5oz patty shrinks to 3oz once the grease comes out. Patio wasnt even open on a gorgeous day like today. Restaurants need to find better ways to make bank. If you cant afford to stay open figure out other ways to get people in the door than price gouging. How about bigger portions if you charge ridiculous amounts or lower the price. Kind regards, Im still hungry

Smash burger was great, had it with a flight of Paddlers, Pilsner, Irish Ale and the Porter. All nice beers.

The food is mediocre. The prices are high and when it came time to pay the bill that there was a mandatory 18% gratuity. There is no such thing as a mandatory gratuity . I wont be going back.

Had dinner here with my partner and their parents, super enjoyable night! We were there pretty early on a Sunday evening so it wasnt crowded but the dining area was lovely! I liked the paintings by local artist as well as the fact they had an open kitchen. Our server, Amanda, was literally the BEST!! She was super friendly and knowledgeable on the food, just a great personality! The food came surprising fast, we probably spent more time debating then waiting lol. The table really enjoyed the two burgers and the falafel but found the wings a touch overcooked/tough. The wings were apparently greatly improved by the sauce which was by all account phenomenal! Overall a great place and 11/10 will come again!

The Cuban Sandwich was so MASSIVE & extra tasty with the Honey Sauce. The bartender is very cool, attentive, & a great energy. He makes the four sauces & I love the Honey & the Mango sauce. Great flavourmto add to the Cuban Sandwich, really a massive improvement.

After reading the reviews of this place we had a high expectations but end up disappointed.We share brie cheese appetizer wich consisted of luke warm, quarter round of brie with tablespoon of arugula salad on a side and cranberry sauce $15, and pepperoni pizza for $22 wich was small, and barely has any cheese on it.We decided to skip desert and save money. On top of that there is only limited parking on the street and you have to pay for it, and this place is not worth it.This restaurant is overpriced and overrated. We wanted to like it but will take our business some place else.

First off our waiter, Mark, was an absolute rockstar- amazing service! The lamb burger and fish and chips are my personal fav. The lamb burger is soooo good, your eyes roll back into your head when you take your first bite. Also I would say - hands down the best place in town for fish and chips.

If your buddy tells you your gunna have the best burger in Peterborough and then takes you anywhere other than here, you re in the wrong spot. Perfectly toasted warm brioche bun, the juiciest burger but somehow not wet and messy, bacon was also perfectly done.

Nice venu, extremely extremely overpriced, a smash burger and fries for $25. Draft beer for $8-$10. Nope. I asked for I taster nope I had to buy a flight. Im not into the gouging of food prices. I wont reccomend.

The food was amazing but the service was terrible. We had one of the pizzas and the shrimp appetizer which was delicious. We were in a group of seven and the service started alright but quickly went downhill. Our server forgot our drinks, water and our food came out later than the rest of the groups. We ended up being the only ones not to tip because we never ended up getting our drinks or water. The waiter looked and the machine after each person paid and just through our receipt on the table. Everyone elses receipt was handed to them and he told them to have a good night. Since we didnt tip we were ignored, he was visibly upset and through our receipt. Could have been a great meal but very unprofessional service.

The food is delicious and patio atmosphere is awesome. The problem which I feel warrants 3 stars is that we waited 90 minutes to receive our food after ordering: Ordered at 7:15, received at 8:45. We arrived hungry. There was a wedding party upstairs that was higher priority and we were forced to accept the long wait. Others had to wait just as long too. I m trying not to sound entitled here but I feel the long wait should have been acknowledged to us with some form of discount. The staff could have communicated the scenario better, it feels like we were avoided for most of the wait. The feeling of having to order and pay for extra appetizers because your food isn t showing up is not a good one.

If you are gluten sensitive or celiac this is not the place, very little gluten free options available. I opted for the beet and goat cheese salad with chicken. I expected a chicken breast but got dark meat, looked like shredded chicken thigh it was greasy and the dressing on the salad was heavy. I think chicken breast and dressing on the side would have served a better rating for the food on this visit. I would love to see a gluten free pizza crust option because I hear the pizza is really good here. Otherwise The atmosphere is nice, it s clean with a decent drink menu.

Today was the opening of the Publican House. Katie, one of the co-owners, was there this evening to welcome guests as well as Laura (you can reserve or walk up). They have carefully established washable menus as well as online menus. A spare table to reduce contact. Our waitress Taylor was a delight as well. I believe they can seat about 43 people? I have delighted in this corner for decades since it was Peterborough Arms where food, drink and great music would spill out onto the streets. I know that the music cant return until we are at least beyond Covid. Tonight was our first meal, sitting in a restaurants patio. Thanks to everyone who was involved with making the meal of hope possible! My beloved had the Mac n Cheese and has enough for another meal! I pigged out on their double patty and awesome fries with half sitting in the fridge for a midnight snack or tomorrows lunch! Come and hang out, chat with your neighbours, meet new friends and share lifelong memories! Way to go PH staff. (Sept 2022) The four of us tonight for a late dinner. Lovely evening on the balcony. Quite enjoyed the service of Geoff, both pleasant and helpful. Great place, great time. (May 2023) Michaela was our waitress, what an amazing young woman! Great service. We so enjoy coming here. Maybe Im just not part of this new trendy thing, but I wasnt overly impressed with anything there. It looked awesome from outside. The menu looked sure to impress. Was a small menu, which should mean they do a great job on the food. I had the special chicken Sammy, and it was ok. The beer was not overly cold, more sort of warmish. Im not saying it was bad, but for what we paid for our meals, it could have been better. The server was great. Food came out in great time. A small menu usually means they do awesome dishes. However we were not impressed with the food. Overall we will most likely not be back but dont let that stop you from checking it out.

Just ordered a spinach dip for pickup. The taste is fantastic, the portion size is awful for how much it costs. Theres a spicy kick to it which I personally love but if you dont like anything spicy, maybe stay away. Super disappointed with the portion size. The takeout container maybe has 1/2 or 2/3 an inch. Definitely not worth $20 for how much you get, almost seems like a rip off. Another redeeming factor though, the buttered pita on the side was super yummy and well made.

Publican house is underrated!! The food is awesome. Huge portion sizes. I got the shrimp tacos and they were the best I ve ever had. Beer is delicious- I loved all four kinds in my flight. Gorgeous patio and the service was spot on. My family will be back for sure!

Worth the drive just for the french fries!!! I love those old fashion fries where it has the skin, plus they re thin and crispy. Most times I only eat a handful of fries when I go to any restaurant. These ones I ate all of them and had to bring my wrap home with me. The wrap was great too but next time I m in Peterborough, I m going back to get the fries!

Great beers and the Cuban egg rolls are 100% amazing

We were there yesterday and got two corn beef sandwich . It was terrible . When you take a bite of the sandwich all the meat(if you want to call it meat) would come out because it was all FAT. The sourdough bread had so much butter/ margarine it was awful. Tried the restaurant twice. Never again. NOT recommend.

I want to love this place. It s a former student bar when I was in university. We ve been 4 times since it opened and have yet to have a meal that was good. We were there a week ago and had dinner - our wings were the smallest I ve seen in a long time and were clearly cooked much earlier in the day and reheated - my jaw hurt from trying to chew them (no exaggeration) The fries were in the same condition- old and reheated. The beer is great and I often buy from their shop. We are super local to this place and want to love it. But that s the last time. Lots of other good restaurants downtown to choose from. The manager looked after the meals - but still super disappointed. Sorry guys but get your act together. Stop serving old food.

Great vibes inside and on the patio. We had the Ceasar, Margherita Pizza, and Shrimp Tacos. The in-house beer was also really good. Food took a while and it wasnt that busy. Would definitely recommend and were eager to try more of their menu.

Recommend their ale beer if you enjoy a lite beer. I had the Mac n Cheese as my entree which comes with a Cesar salad and cheese bread. At first, it didn t look like a lot but it sure does fill you up quick!!

Id rate it 50 stars if I could. Its our neighbourhood go-to for a reason - people, atmosphere, drinks and food are always top-notch.

The food was great but the service was above and beyond. Our waitress was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. My virgin drink had too much ice so she suggested a flavoured soda to top it and didn t charge us. What a lovely gesture. It made my day. Will return whenever we re around.

Waitress with long brown curly hair wasnt the happiest or kindest you hope to meet while paying these prices, we arrived on our motorcycle and werent treated the same as others. Will be going to the Keg the next time hands down. As thats where we were headed until we realized they werent open yet. Food was mediocre at best, Chicken Ceaser had almost no dressing for $21.00 along with Mac n cheese having no taste.

This pub offers a great atmosphere with delicious pizza and an impressive beer selection. However, the childrens menu is a letdown due to its high prices, including an extra fee for a small glass of milk. The live music adds a cool vibe, and the cozy interior and shaded patio are inviting. Their pilsner beer is a personal favorite.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception here recently and the staff at Publican House were amazing. They were super helpful the entire time while planning and made our day super special. They helped us figure out the logistics of the evening seamlessly and were quick to answer any questions we had. The food was amazing as always as well as the drinks. Highly recommend public house for planning any sort of event!

Had a lovely impromptu dinner at Publican House yesterday. The pub was recommended to us by local area shop owners. It was -50000C and we came in chilled to the bone but happy to see there was a daily soup special - a vegan coconut curry with sweet potato soup. My partner and I each ordered the soup and split the Nashville Hot Backdoor - spicy fried chicken sandwich. Staff were super friendly and split the sandwich and fries for us onto two plates in the kitchen, which was unexpected and very kind of them. The coconut sweet potato soup was perfect and delicious and really hit the spot on such a cold evening. It was well seasoned and not overly sweet - well balanced. The fried chicken sandwich was fantastic. The batter was so light and airy. The fries were similarly crispy and relatively light. We also tried their Our Pet Pilsner and part of the proceeds go toward the Peterborough Humane Societys building fund. A tasty, not overwhelming pilsner - went great with our meal. Overall a lovely dinner at a local spot. We were happy to support a local business.

I love this place! My boyfriend and I have been here a few times since moving to peterbourgh last summer. Every time we come, we have great service, great food, and even better beers! DEFINITELY will be back!

Excellent food and service

Stopped here on the way up to a cottage and was so happy with the experience we had. There is a parking lot across the street so you don t have to worry about street parking. The food was so amazing (we had the bbq pizza and the smoked meat sandwich). The beer we got was delicious and the staff were so friendly. I have recommended this place to so many people already. Keep up the fantastic work!

We shared a Mushroom Pizza, along with a Smoked Meat Sandwich, which was a brisket, OUTSTANDING! Citrus cream sauce with the pizza was amazing and the spicy mustard aioli was a bonus on the brisket! Throw in a pint of KLB NEIPA and the service from Jeff, the experience couldnt be better! Will definitely come back!

Late Sunday dinner at this restaurant was a very smart decision. Beers were unique, dishes were pleasing, and atmosphere was enjoyable. I will have to go back at least many times to try all beers available!

This was a big surprise for us. We were looking for a patio that allow dogs. Not only does their lower patio allow dogs, but the server brought out a water bowl for our pup as well as water for us. The food was fantastic. Our son got the kids cheese pizza, which was a very generous size. My husband and daughter got the burger, and they said it was one of the best burgers they ve had in a while. I got the shrimp tacos and a side beet garden salad. This was delicious! Because it is also a brewery, their beer selection was wide and varied. We got their beer that gives back to a local animal shelter. I would highly recommend this place!

The Fattoush salad is so delicious! Enjoyed the patio as the sun set, great service as usual! Watermelon mojito beer is definitely worth trying!

The restaurant is good. But the beer is awful. Its way too expensive for what it is... Doesnt taste good... But pay the premium for it if you like getting the runs and a hangiver after 2 or 3 cans

Its a dog eat dog world, and it gets darn well catty out there too. Our four footed family members come upon hard times, especially these days with economic strife. Imagine, if you will, finacial problems beset you and your family... The Peterborough Humane Society sees the heart ache and heart break that becomes pet homelessness. Publican House, purveyors of fine brews, and the PHS teamed up with the Our Pet Project. Now YOU can enjoy a crisp and clean authentic German style Pilsner all the while supporting the campaign to build the NEW Peterborough Animal Care Center, and help pets and people within the Peterborough community Well worth the price, this amazing brew begs your taste buds. And you will be helping your fur buds!! I am hooked on this brew, and hope it makes its way down these parts. Next time you are giving Fido some pets, or your cat some top of the head scritches, remember, they count on YOU for love, affection and attention. Some pets dont have that luxury. And, if something happens yo your pet, the PHS needs the equipment to save your pet, or be able to help abandoned and strays. Youll be giving to an amazing cause, and getting an equally amazing brew. Need I say more? Our Pet Pilsner... a beer that keeps on giving. Cheers!

You gotta eat here. We did! We drive up to Peterborough on a regular basis to enjoy this great brew pub. What delicious food and tasty beer and friendly service! And reasonable prices. One time we had the weekend special: a lamb and chickpea vindaloo in a medium spicy Indian curry sauce. Delicious! This time we had pizzas. Tasty! This pub has a large selection of very good ales; enough to please every palate. My favourite is the Square Nail Pale Ale. And yes, after dinner I bought some from their store next door to take home and enjoy. It was indeed worth the drive!

As a resident of Peterborough, this is my go-to restaurant. The beer and service are great, and the food is consistently delicious. The only problem is that I cant make up my mind about what to eat because my top favourites are all so good! The fish and chips are the best in town, the smash burger is dripping with flavour, and the steak and Brussels sprouts are amazing. Last night I had the beet and goat salad, which was also delicious.

Their take on a chicken club was awesome. The server was perfect and the beers great.

Great food, great service. Was unfortunately sold out of flights when we arrived but every beer was a great choice! Looking forward to making this a stop again the next time Im passing through!

Disappointing Sunday brunch, but a lovely patio! Once seated we learned there was a very limited brunch menu (two breakfast options, pizza and poutine!?!), despite their being open for brunch. For all the great reviews and ratings we were all set for hospitable service and food cooked by someone who cared. Instead we got a somewhat standoffish waitress, a teeny tiny chicken piece inside the Back Door Club sandwich (my 88 yr old Oma thought it was small), and don t even bother with the ice cream cookie sandwich it s totally rock-hard frozen, cookies and all. To their credit the mushroom wood-fired pizza was excellent and the service from the lady who brought our drinks was far more friendly.

First time visit to the restaurant last night and wasn t disappointed. Plenty of great beer and drink options. Recommend the raspberry wheat, which has an awesome subtle flavour. The grilled calamari is fantastic. Entrees portions were large and food was superb. Fish and chips, P-Hac and MBS burgers all well presented and tasty. Apparently some menu changes coming October 1, so will be going back for more beer and food tasting. Suggest calling or making reservations online.

Disappointed in the changed Mac and Cheese recipe! It used to be a very homey recipe but now its more like a college style meal. Too bad cause it was my and my familys favorite, we dont go much anymore now.

We had a wonderful lunch with friends. The hostess Bailey was a friendly greeter and very accommodating with our request for a specific table type. Our waiter Josh was knowledgeable, personable and the service was fast and efficient. All four of us loved our meals - delicious!

So glad we went here! Beer was delicious-flavours match their descriptions very well! Enjoyed the beer so much we went to the brewery store next door to buy some. Staff was excellent! I felt welcome from from when I opened the door to when I left! Had a red coconut Thai curry with homemade flatbread and a flight of beer. You won t be disappointed!

Top notch service, food and beers! We sat on the patio in the sun. Our lunch was quick and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the back door chicken sandwich with Fatoosh salad. Server was upbeat, responsive and lovely! Cant wait to go back.

Great pub, great food and even better service! I was visiting from out of town, and stopped for a bite along with my service dog . Staff were extremely welcoming and treated Sierra as though she was a legit customer. She enjoyed her bucket of ice water while I sampled some craft beer and excellent pub fare. Looking forward to coming back to the area in 3 weeks and will certainly stop by for a frosty pint!! Cheers

Wow! Spectacular service, delicious food and outstanding drinks! This place is now on high rotation for our family. Thanks for a great evening celebrating my sons 24th birthday. Highly recommend this gem!
