After 23 incredible years, I am making the difficult announcement that January 1st will be Nonies' last day of operation. This decision has not been made lightly. Due to ongoing challenges with staffing, family health concerns, and the rising costs of doing business, we have concluded that it is time to close this chapter. For those interested in continuing the Nonies legacy, we are open to discussing the sale of our equipment and brand rights. If you are potential buyer, please contact Gregory Smith directly at 603-801-3694. We are deeply grateful to our community, customers, and employees who have been part of our journey over these past two decades. Thank you for your support and understanding during this transition. - The Smith Family
I had breakfast at Nonie’s and was exactly what I was looking for. Home made food, super friendly people, good service, good price.
My first time ever going in was this morning. The girl working at the cash register completely ignored me for several minutes. Not even a "Hello". She finally looked up at me after several awkward minutes and said "What do you want to order?" I had no idea what was on their menu - it was my first time there and I was just waiting for someone to acknowledge me. She laughed when I told her I didn't know what they offered. I sat myself at the diner counter, she gave me a menu, and then didn't even so much as glance at me again. Someone else offered me water, and that was that. I waited several minutes to be acknowledged, and wasn't. The woman who brought me water was then lecturing one of the people in the kitchen that the waffle she just made wasn't cooked through and it was very late. That was enough for me. I walked out and I will not be returning.
Stopped for breakfast on Labor day. Very nice quaint place' Food was good and the waitress staff was great.
I was terribly disappointed when going to this local restaurant after the town trot, this morning. The food was okay but the service was absolutely atrocious. My group and I were very polite and said "thank you" for everything that we were served and not once did either of the two young girls say, "you're welcome." They were the least friendly servers I think I have ever experienced. Not once were we asked how the food was or if I wanted more coffee. I read a previous review response that said they were more focused on spending money on their staff rather than updates on the restaurant itself...I really hope more effort is put forth in training this staff on proper etiquette. I would've left a much bigger tip if the two server showed more care or effort.
Delicious for Sunday brunch. The Irish Benedict was very tasty. Decent prices too.
This is a quintessential greasy spoon restaurant. The booth pads and rugs have not been replaced or cared for in decades...it's past charming at this point. What we got: omelet, pancakes, home fries, hash browns, sausage links, toast. The great: omelet and toast! Had spinach in mine and it was fresh. The toast was crispy but not burned. The texture of the pancakes was also excellent, but there was a strange aftertaste that reminds me of McDonald's. Service was quick and reasonable. The BAD: home fries were tough and tasteless. The hash browns and sausage were crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. Coffee was also decent. Baked goods in the window looked tasty...but not interested in returning. Have family who would come here often long time ago and said it was a great spot. Sad to see it slipping.
Man, where do I even start? How does this place have 4.3 Stars? Our town highly recommended this place so thought I’d try it today with my daughter. What a disaster! I felt like I was on an episode of Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Firstly, the place needs an update URGENTLY! The booth seats are all ripped, the table cloths are full of holes, the blue carpet is dirty and pulling up. Nothing is clean. My fork was full of egg. They brought us juices in the ugliest, oldest plastic cups I’ve ever seen. We had to ask for straws. The ketchup bottle was dirty. I paid $2 for literally 4 thin slices of avocado and my English muffin’s edges and our breakfast potatoes were burnt and too salty! My Canadian bacon had a thick piece of sinew running through it. I’ve never had sinew on any Canadian bacon I’ve ever eaten in 14 years. Must have been terrible quality. My daughter’s pancake had spinach underneath it. Our waitress was polite but did not come to ask us at any point if the food was even ok. I’ll never come back here or recommend this place. I don’t expect a small town breakfast place to be like the Ritz hotel, however I do expect cleanliness and they genuinely need to fix up the place. It feels uninviting.
I grew up in Peterborough and visit Nonie's every time I am back in town for breakfast. The service is always fantastic, the hometown feel is great and it's an overall wonderful experience every time I go. And the jumble. The jumble is awesome.
A delicious breakfast. Tasted like art! By Alex P Food : 5/5
The most disrespectful and sleepy staff Ive ever met. Totally rude and sub par food at best.
Food was great
Excellent food at a fair price. Which was delightful.
Best breakfast in town.
Best breakfast in Peterborough...
The foods great. Place seems vary sweet.
Their sprite was flat the Fanta orange soda was not orange and had not croutons for my ceasar salad and wanted to toast white bread for croutons. But we has a good laugh about it.
Currently my go-to for breakfast! I get the Irish benedict when it s available. The new cook is top notch and turns orders around quickly and with good quality. Very worn and old fashioned interior shouldn t turn you off, and outdoor seating is great in the warmer months.
The beast breaks food I have ever eaten, they just need a little renovation!
Edit/Update: can no longer give this place higher than 1 star. A few months ago we came in for breakfast and I stayed true to my menu favorite- biscuits and gravy. I cut into the first biscuit and put some gravy onto my fork and underneath the gravy was a long, black HAIR. I have short blonde hair and while my fiancé does have black hair, this was nearing a foot in length. I was in tears as I had eaten a few bites in the surrounding area. The waitress was incredibly inattentive, so despite trying to get her attention and putting the full plate of food at the end of the table, she didn t come over for quite some time. When I finally was able to tell her about the problem, she asked what I wanted her to do about this. I asked kindly for a new one. As a side note, customers can see into the kitchen, and I noticed a cook with long, black hair in a ponytail that went halfway down her back with no hairnet. When I received my new plate of food, there was a SECOND BLACK HAIR in the food under the biscuits and gravy. The waitress also attempted to put both (uneaten) meals onto the bill. My boyfriend and I LOVE coming here! It s one of our brunch staples. The biscuits and sausage gravy are heavenly easily the best I ve had from a restaurant. They have a great selection of muffins and pastries up front. I ve ordered a muffin with breakfast and they lightly toast it for you! Who doesn t love that?! Each time we re there, the staff are so kind and attentive. You can just tell they work hard, especially amidst the shortages going around. Still, my coffee and water always remain full and all concerns are addressed (not that we usually have any!). The restaurant is also in a wonderful portion of Peterborough filled with little shops it s such bliss to grab a bite to eat and then go shopping. Highly recommend this area and this place!
Great place for family-friendly meals! Quality food, friendly and patient people, plus gluten-free options. Terrific. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options.
Great breakfast, local cuisine
I just wish it was cleaner better it s such a prime location and yikes
One of the best breakfast places in Peterborough. Really good food and friendly staff!
Everything was fine. Quick service. Great pumpkin bread toast!
This is the best home town spot for everything breakfast! The food is mouth watering and scrumptious! French Crepes done right with fresh berries and real Maple syrup, bottomless coffee with your orders, and chefs who makes french toast look like art and taste heaven! Most of all... ITS AFFORDABLE! Vegetarian options: They offer alot of different options, salads, a veggie wrap, of course pancakes crepes, french toast, cinnamon rolls, muffins, croissants, and the availability to request an order as vegetarian and sub the meat for additional veggies or eggs. Kid-friendliness: Perfect setting for children, let the chef know its your childs birthday and they will dress up your childs pancakes or waffles, an abundance of sweet treats and juices, and so close to depot sqaure , the toadstool childrens book store, and putnam park
Great little place...food was good and their baked goods were just fabulous glad we tried it and we would definitely go again
Love the turkey wrap, its so good!
The food is very good, the portions large, and the service was first rate.
Always my favorite breakfast place!
Cute diner with good food and very attentive staff.
Excellent Service Great Food
Dirty bathroom, booth seating all taped together. Shabby at best. Food ok. Not great
Nice place, attentive staff, and great food.
Im told Noonies has rich history with the community. My. Girls family goes there for special occations and they love it. Everytime they bring me, I hate it. Cold toast or over an hour to get food, short staffed, getting my order wrong. Unique ingredients for basic dishes without stating so, like adding peppers to hash. Its just not my thing.
Always excellent food and great service, no matter how busy.
Great omelets. And great service
Not a welcoming staff. Waited two hours for food with no apology whatsoever, while a table next to us received free food and were fawned over. Worth mentioning that I believe there were reasons why we were not attended do that were discriminatory in nature. Enough said.
Such a cute spot for amazing sandwiches and friendly service. Perfect location and very well priced. The bread is off the charts yummy!
Great place, all staff awesome especially kaylie ,nick,Ellen
Great food.
Was very excited to see homemade corned beef on the menu. Was canned Hormel, just peppers and onions added to make it homemade. Price suggests it was a real brisket made in house which does take time. Other than that, an okay place
Place has been there forever! Definitely not what it use to be.
My wife and I took my mother to Nonies for lunch on a recent Saturday and we were pleased with the quality food and service. I havent been to this bakery since I was 12 years old in 1966, and there have been a lot of changes since I accompanied my grandfather to buy coffee buns, Danish and donuts back then! Still, a neat, quaint place to have an affordable meal. Wheelchair accessibility: There was no wheelchair access that I could see, and that would have made it easier for my elderly mother, who depends on a walker to get around.
I will never eat here again my food was cold the wait staff and the owners were rude telling me no one else ever had any problems i know they were busy but thats no way to treat your customers never again
Really happy we stopped here for breakfast. The staff was very pleasant and the food was anything but generic - yet reasonably priced. Very homey atmosphere and a great place for families. Definitely my new place for breakfast though may come for more after seeing the cinnamon rolls on display.
Great food
Nonnies is always an A + in all categories!
Tried the Mexican omelet with Nonies gingerbread. A good choice! With fast and friendly service.
Comfortable breakfast spot with a good standard breakfast menu. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere.
felt bad for staff when two customers decided to hold a lengthy no mask conversation
Love to come here for a quick bite to eat with my friends
Delicious large and fluffy omelet with fresh spinach.
Food is really good!
A real small town, place to eat. A warm family place place to eat.
Really cute atmosphere. Everything is short in there, so short people like me fit perfectly in seats. Tall people may struggle. Haha
Total train wreck. Can hear the cook blabbing from the dining room. The order was wrong, no rye bread for a sandwich on the menu, no lemon for a water. We didn t want French fries, but got them anyway. Ordered coleslaw. Ever have a Reuben with Cole slaw? Not coming back. The wait staff was nice.
Very friendly staff and good food
Great waitresses and service, but mediocre (at best) food.
Was in there for breakfast, loved the food and the hometown feel
It was exactly what it presented itself to be.
Loved the biscuits and gravy!!
We have been coming here for years on our trips back to visit family. It is an excellent and reliable place to get breakfast or lunch.
We walked out
Really nice place for a delicious breakfast.
classic hometown staple. try the grilled croissant
Great breakfast at a great price!
Nonies is very Peterborough. Its a small place and welcoming.
best breakfast sandwiches on English muffins Ive ever had. my daily breakfast place!
Nonies muffins are to. die. for!!!
Has the only place open in Peterborough for breakfast You can imagine these guys were busy beyond belief food is good service is awesome
Waited an hour for a table, got forgotten, then waited 45 minutes to be greeted, 20 more minutes for beverages. The best part was ordering food and the waitress came back with the check before the food even came and said I can take this when your ready. When the food did come it was messed up. Happy Labor Day weekend.
Friendly, cozy place with lovely diner fare.
Really loved the food and service, incredibly quick and tasty! The home frys are honestly some of the best Ive had and my eggs were perfect. Price point wise it was a lot cheaper than expected, and comparing price to food I wouldnt even be mad if it cost more.
This has been a staple little mom and pop diner style restaurant that I have attended since childhood! I will always love this place!
Cozy diner atmosphere, great breakfast spot. Menu has both common dinery items, as well as unique dishes and specials. Staff is attentive and kind. Downtown location is great for locals and visitors alike. Bakery case is fresh and tasty too.
Delicious food, great portions, and good coffee. Booths have dividers for COVID.
Truly a fabulous bakery, especially the cinnamon rolls.
Quick and reliably good breakfast. I have had several omelette. My wife has had pancakes sausage eggs. I take my family to nonies when they are in in town. Ask for their homemade bread of the day. I had their pumpkin bread it was great.
Excellent as always. The food is always delicious and the portions are huge! Wait staff is very friendly and professional.
Food was good service was good
The current owners really revived nonies, creating a whole new menu including the beyond burger, which made me very happy considering I am vegetarian. Also the best pumpkin bread I have ever had.
The initial welcome was inviting, especially with the immediate seating and outdoor ambiance; however, from that point onward our young female servers flat affect approach left us feeling regret that we didnt wait the 35 minutes at Beepa & Lulus...where we experienced AMAZING service the prior morning. In hindsight [our] camping attire may not have measured up to this young ladies standards, yet instead of taking her obvious discomfort and poor customer service personally (Note: didnt know bread choices, had no pen to take our order after serving our drinks, our food was extremely slow to come out, our creamer had a piece of hair, and still to our surprise she never once returned back to our table to ask how we were enjoying our food, which was delicious) instead I will offer a teaching lesson for the Nonies owners to pass onward to their unhappy employee. Considered sentiments: A testament to honor oneself is to lead a life that will bring about fulfillment. When one deviates from mentioned path...hardships surface, which often times affects others, such as customers. So my encouragement is to consider some soul-searching to seek for a job that will bring peace, happiness and acceptance. Thank you for breakfast Nonies...I wish you much success!
Great breakfast
Cozy place with friendly staff. The food was average, home fries are too big so they dont really cook all the way through at times. Fast friendly service.
Food was terrific
The service was very slow.. However, the Eggs Benedict was flawless! And... The special Pumpkin Bread was exceptional...
Great selection but feel like I spent a little too much for what was bought
Should say one of the best breakfast food in the area, including Keene. Just perfect food, and their pancakes are right at the IHOP pancakes level.
I recommend this place to anyone who s enjoys delicious food at a good price! Staff will always welcome you with a bright smile and plenty of care and attention
Love breakfast here!
Best home fries and breakfast in a quaint little spot. Didnt feel rushed out the door but staff was attentive.
3 dollars for hamsteak when its actually a 1/8 inch slice of ham nope sorry
We loved this place! Great atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food.
Simply put: Western Omelet, get one!
Great food, great staff... the heartbeat of the town.
The food was great, the pancakes were huge! Staff was very friendly and the service was quite quick even though it was rather busy.
The food isn t very good but the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Parking can be a challenge during peak times.
Great stuff
A+++ best food ever
A nice little spot! Weve been going as a family for over a decade. The food is good and very well priced. The wait staff is great too!
Excellent as always. Great service and amazing food
Friendly and touches of fun. Lovely menu from light options to heavier carb-filled yummies!
This is a great diner and bakery. The atmosphere is family friendly, relaxed and homey.
Food was adequate. Service was extremely poor. Dont bother.
Diner atmosphere, baked goods
Good basic food for breakfast and lunch. Friendly, attentive service. A fixture in Peterborough.
Great staff, large portions, and great prices
great food nice place to eat
Loved the food!
Great food!
Good food. Bad service but it didnt appear to be the servers fault. She had way too may customers for one person. Really hot and uncomfortable booth and nasty sticky stable cloth.
Kind staff, good food. They didnt get our order exactly right but we got lots of coffee and tea refills.
Great service, friendly people.
Good breakfast. Quick service, no complaints. They make a yummy banana & chocolate chip pancake! Their homefries are good too.
Great location and atmosphere. The food was so so. Pancakes had no flavor, add a touch of vanilla or some cinnamon to your batter. Homefries were nothing more than potato cubes dunked in a fryolator. You can do much better. Coffee was great, hot and plentiful and Bacon was perfectly crisp.
Excellent food!
Good, always a favorite spot to stop by
Staff is nice and food has always been good. The first time I was there, my friend and I were overlooked for service for about 15 minutes (it was very busy that morning). When we finally went up and asked, the waitress apologized profusely and we were taken care of promptly. The second time I went, they were out of two consecutive items I ordered so I had to settle for something else. But whatever we do eat there is delicious and the specials are wonderful.
Great food. Excellent place to stop in for breakfast.
Great food...delicious specials...wonderful service.
Yes, go there, down home food ...mingle with the locals, soak in the character of the place!
Friendly staff. Great baked goods. Great breakfast.
Great food!
Best diner breakfast in town.
Quaint little breakfast/lunch spot. Good food, good service.
Great food awesome staff
Great breakfast place and friendly atmosphere
Best cinnamon roll Ive ever tasted!!!
Cozy and friendly. Great breakfast spot within walking distance of all the sights and shops in Peterborough.
Ok food cute place
Friendly staff, great food, and a good atmosphere.
Nonies is a an above average diner. Nice breakfasts and sandwiches and burgers for lunch.
Good food. Lackluster service.
Excellent
Great spot to have a Sunday (or any) morning brunch! Excellent food, service and pricing!
Slow service. Food was just ok.
Food was pretty good. Waitress was friendly, only disappointment was they did not have any hash available they were in process of making it at 8am on a sunday...heard a few people around the restaurant try to order it as well.
Super disappointed in my recent visit. I grew up going to Nonies and had fond memories. Looked forward to taking my daughter but the experience left much to be desired. The wait staff was friendly and helpful enough and the food... okay but that was where the redeeming aspects ended. Though I saw a number of family and kids we were not offered crayons and paper (I have gone to a wide array of restaurants with my daughter and never have I not been offered A THING to keep her entertained). There was nothing in the bathroom to change her on. Finally for the food that was ordered (one meal to split between my daughter and myself) I found it rather expensive. I would rate the meal as average at best though I paid the same as what I have at high end hotels for breakfast. I never write reviews but this experience left enough of an impression. I wont be returning or recommending.
My favorite diner ..the best cinnamon buns around
Great breakfast!!
Old style breakfast & lunch diner..... Great atmosphere
Great place for lunch. We split a club sandwich and we had leftovers .
Wow great food an people are really nice
Great service great muffins friendly food awesome
Good food but the service is horrendous. Two waitresses for a Sunday morning breakfast shift does not cut it, especially when they also have to man the register.
Quaint, old fashioned bakery with boothes and counter stools, or eat outside. Excellent breakfast and friendly service!
Nonies is a friendly place to have breakfast or lunch. They are flexible, willing to combine items on the menu that I requested.
Not what it was when Larry bishop owned it,food wasnt as expected.
Great classic breakfast favorites and amazing cinnamon rolls!
Food is too greasy!!
Visiting the area we ate here every morning for breakfast. Staff is very friendly. Clean restaurant and delicious food. French toast is delicious! A must if your looking for a casual, comfortable, and cozy breakfast place.
Corn beef hash was badly burnt. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she still tried to bill me for it!
Marginal service but excellent food, small place
Food & prices good. Place can be small and crowded.
Great place to get a bite to eat and I like photographs hanging on their walls.
Good food, but no the best customer service.
A nice little cafe. We enjoyed our meal.
Great food great service great prices
Excellent staff and food!
The food was burned and the service was horrible.
Bought 2 take out breakfasts fri the 19th, what a disapointment! The hash omelet had more homefries in it and very little (homemade) burnt hash. The side of homefries were totally burnt. My opinion, for the $23.00 i paid for the meals, which were totally garbage, i would recommend to stay away and spend your hard earned money at Mcdonalds instead. Very unhappy and will think twice about eating there again. Quality of food sucked an i can only hope the muffins i bought will not be as lousy as that garbage breakfast i was well over charged for! Unhappy, disappointed, with a negative star!
It was my first time here. No complaints.
The blueberry walnut pancakes were incredible.
Good place for breakfast.
Best place for hot breakfast in Peterborough. Good home made corn beef hash!
Always good for breakfast, alone or in company. Wide selection available.
Food is always great, word scramble is fun & challenging, waitstaff is friendly. Epitome of small hometown diner. Our favorite breakfast spot when we visit home.
Great food at a good price have been eating her for a long time
Everything I have had to eat has been out of this world. I have yet to order off the set menu because every time I go in they have a different special that catches my eye. Also, the waiter is cute as all get out...
Very good diner food, and excellent baked goods. Solve the word jumble on the blackboard to win a free muffin!
Fantastic breakfast!
