We cook fine quality Indian food without the endless list of Madras and Vindaloo sauce dishes. Our food is based on what you would find in good quality restaurants in India. We serve traditional North Indian cuisine with a sprinkling of South Indian and smattering of great street food not found on the "curry house" menu. Our chefs have extensive experience of working at busy restaurants in major Indian cities. We use traditional cooking techniques, whole spices and we never use artificial colour. Located in a stunning period building within the heart of Peterborough we are spread over two dining floors with space for private functions. Our bar is stocked with artisan spirits, exclusive wines & premium draught beers. Free WiFi
Fantastic Indian restaurant. Food absolutely delicious and the staff are amazing! We go several times a year for birthdays, anniversaries etc. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Very impressed with the food here, everything was very flavourful, portion sizes was just perfect for 2 of us and a great reliable place for Indian cuisine!
Beautiful food as always!! This is my favourite restaurant to dine in, the atmosphere and decor is so beautiful and relaxing, perfect for date nights or group meals. Vipul and the rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had the vegetarian options which were all delicious.Would recommend this restaurant to everyone!! Thank you for a lovely evening.
Came in for lunch today with 2 other people. It was empty and were the only people there during lunch. Great atmosphere for us! We come here regularly with family so food was lovely as usual. We would definitely recommend their biryani! We had lamb and chicken and they were cooked so well, the lamb was soft and chicken tikka packed a punch of flavours. I had Massala Dosa and it was great. We ate everything and we we’re definitely full afterwards as the portion sizes are big enough. Price is not too bad, considering the portion sizes it’s great.
This is my go-to restaurant for Peterborough whenever I’m in the area for dinner. The food, customer service, and atmosphere have been great each time I’ve been. Great prices for the quantity of food. Overall recommend
first time trying the banyan tree due to a recommendation. i love to try new dishes everywhere i go. i asked the waiter, who was also the owner, what he would recommend. i can’t remember the name of the dish but it was lamb with caramelised onions, and it did not disappoint! the tastiest lamb curry i have ever tasted - and i have tasted a fair few! the service was incredible too - so polite and friendly. will definitely be back.
Nice quiet place on a weekday. We had ordered mixed plater sizzler which was decent onion pakora was Okish could have been more cooked. Chicken and lamb was fine. Butter naans were really good. Chicken Kura was spicy but good. It had green and red chili and was very nice. Unless you don't eat Indian level spicy wouldn't recommend kura.
A lovely place to grab Sunday lunch! Food seemed like small portions but was very filling and delicious 🔥 The service was very fast and the staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend the chettinand chicken (extra spice can be requested for the spice lovers) with rice or butter naan. Thaalis have been discontinued 🥺 But still, definitely will come again❤️
Came here for a birthday meal, table of 10. The food was delicious, we ordered table starters and our own mains and everything was polished off. A bit pricey but worth it for the quality, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated with a lovely atmosphere. Only negative was the speed of the service - it took a long time for things to come out. We were delivered nice hot plates for our meals but they were stone cold by the time the food arrived. This would have been five stars with faster service.
Friendly quick service, great choice of dishes, delicious food, good value - what more could you ask for? Kid-friendliness: Big families there when we visited.
Have been to banyan tree multiple times before but this time was absolutely disappointed with the degradation of services and quality. Not only did the food take forever to come but the taste was also really not up to the mark. The naan bread was tough and chewy and the aloo kulcha had no aloo. When I complained and sent back the aloo kulcha, it took an absurd amount of time to come back, by the time all of the sides were cold. Coming to the sides, the anda keema, being one of the star dishes before, now was just a mushy concoction that had way tooo much salt. Absolutely horrendous experience. Never coming back !!
We were visiting Peterborough for the day and stumbled upon this place by accident when looking for somewhere to have dinner. Lovely, friendly professional staff and the food was out of this world. The lamb in our curries was melt in the mouth and beautifully cooked. The rich, delicious curry sauce was among the best Ive ever had We were able to choose a medium strength curry then spice it up to vindaloo heat . It was so flavourful and tasty. The peshwari naan was probably the best Ive ever had. Cant fault the staff and the service. Thank you so much for a great meal and lovely evening.
I recently dined at Banyan Tree in Peterborough, and while the food was quite good, the service left much to be desired. We had to wait over 20 mins just to receive the menu, and it took another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. After that, it was another long wait about 60 minutes before the food finally arrived at our table. The taste of the food was enjoyable, but the overall experience was disappointing due to the extremely slow and inefficient service. If you re planning to visit, make sure you have plenty of time to spare because the waiting time is significant. Overall, great food but extremely poor service.
Best taste of Peterborough
Suppose to open at 12, stood outside at half past and had to ring to be let in. Was walked to a table then told the kitchen wouldn t be open till 1. So no service for an hour after opening. Came back at 1 asked for the lunch menu which they advertise on their website for weekend lunch times. Waitress didn t know what the menu was left to ask came back and said they don t do one. Left without eating anything. Clean place, smelled good, terrible service didn t eat.
Nearly 2 hours and the foods not here. Go somewhere else. These clowns dont know what they are doing.
Update: the place has gone downhill unfortunately. Been here over 10 times now and never had a bad experience. Service is second to none, cocktails are 10/10 and the food is spot on. Great value and a pleasant atmosphere. Outstanding
Love this place, whos absolutely amazing!
Great food and service as usual and I loved the new vegetable dishes on the menu.
Very good table with a wide variety of dishes. Very kind and attentive service
Loved it
This place is really superb. Great quality and portions.
Excellent food and super friendly staff - we had a good time and highly recommend going there.
Outstanding lamb curry........My brother used one of those food delivery apps that I dont use. However, he ordered food to go. So, my review is takeaway only. But I can say that whichever lamb curry he ordered was one of the best that Ive ever had. Utterly succulent soft lamb. Extremely well cooked. These peeps know their subject. Good work guys. Pride shows.
Amazing food and service. I had missed my purse and they kept it safe till I got back. Shoutout to Vipul and Rana for being the most amazing and warm hosts. We will definitely be going again and recommending to our friends!
I tell you what this was quite possibly the best curry I ve had, especially with the particular craving I was having at the time! I wanted a creamy yet spicy sauce to be accompanied by lamb. Oscar was extremely helpful in helping me with this! Chefs, fantastic! Service exceptional and food unbelievable! I m a foodie and if you love curries, ask this place for the out of town special because trust me, it s special
Ok
Beautiful food, great service
An amazing restaurant! The food is so good, quality ingredients!! The service was excellent! My favourite restaurant!
We had the taster menu which was possibly the best Indian meal I have had, the food was lovely and just kept coming (I am soooo full now). Really recommended.
Just competed a party for 8 and very impressed. Oscar looked after us very well, even whilst training the keen to impress Patel. The tapas starter was a great hit, very well presented, spiced and delicious. I tried a new dish for my main, a lamb Bhuna of some sort. Really good, the meat and sauce full of flavour and the whole table cleaned up! Thanks for a great meal and we look forward to coming back.
It was my first time to explore Peterborough. I found an Indian restaurant for lunch. The owner and staff were very kind and welcoming. They patiently recommended the restaurant s dishes. I ordered a chicken and a shrimp. The quality of the food was of a very high standard and the interior decoration was beautiful. It s so comfortable and worth recommending to friends to eat there
good responsibility and good food for chicken Tikka biryani
Visited today and honestly I m annoyed that I hadn t visited sooner: I had their lamb rogan Josh, the spice was just right. Enough of a kick to bring on a small sweat. My partner had their seasoned tikka masala, we shared some pilau rice, we shared a nan which was lovely with the sauce. I do wish there were a lil more veggies and potato s on the menu, maybe balti potato s, I hear there s a new menu coming too, I m excited and hoping for a good vindaloo or Japfrezi! The staff were lovely, and am excited to give the restaurant another go before we move away!
Amazing food!! Highly recommend.
Nice food, terrible atmosphere. Eeeily silent and actually felt uncomfortable having a conversation at times. The food was nice but we were the only diners in the restaurant for our entire visit which did not make for a very comfortable dining experience. I was also given a dirty side plate.
Food was good service good a bit pricey though
Food was really amazing... Highly Recommend
Lovely service, everything made fresh including the drinks, waiter said they could do substitutions for us if we wanted.
Went the other week with a friend for some food, we were the only people there which can t be helped but the staff were attentive and the food was lovely would go again definitely Dietary restrictions: Good Labelling on the menus and options for gluten free, vegetarian etc
What a truly lovely eatery! Staff go above and beyond to cater for their diners. The food is flavour some and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend The Banyan Tree, especially the Lunch menu which I think is 12 pound a head now. Great find for a tasty Curry and awesome decor. A1+ Service with a smile!
Bombay potatoes were tinned new potatoes in sauce..... pilau rice was more like brown instead and the korma was unbelievably low quality wouldnt waste my time or taste buds
We have been to this restaurant recently and it is fantastic. The staffs are welcoming and explain any questions. If you ever want to try the authentic taste of Indian dishes I would recommend this restaurant. There are a lot of restaurants who name the restaurants as Indian restaurant who indeed are either pakistani or bangladeshi restaurants, but The Banyan Tree is authentic not just by ambiance, but also with the taste of food. We tries a Prawn dish, chicken starters and naan bread, they were finger licking good. My wife tries the vegie dishes and they were mouth watering.
We had an outstanding experience dining here! The staff were incredibly personable and made our experience so easy. It was my partners birthday meal, which I mentioned when booking, and we were welcomed to our table filled with roses and hearts. The food was incredible and reasonably priced (big portions too!). We highly recommend and will be back!
service was quick and attentive. enjoyed the food
Food really tasty and high quality , service amazing highly recommended
Wonderful restaurant, wonderful staff and most importantly wonderful food. Well done Oscar youre a star!
Went for the lunch menu on Saturday afternoon. Restaurant was very quiet at that time so service was very good. Food was very tasty if obviously a cheap lunch offering, would like to have seen a bit more meat in the dishes. Drinks were expensive also, Overall a good experience will try again for an evening meal.
First time at the restaurant the service and food was excellent.
Good place to have Indian food in Peterborough. Service is good. Food is delicious as well.
What an amazing Valentine evening Banyan tree gave us. The team looked after all our needs and the food was top notch. A valentines taster menu that gave us all we had hoped and the front of house team were considerate of a health condition I have. Lovely to speak with the owners at the end of our evening and the glass of Port was very appreciated. It s been a long time since our previous visit, it certainly won t be so long till our next. Thank you
Absolutely love this place come here all the time with my son and grandmother. Food is fresh the portion sizes are spot on. Members off staff are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended
Everything is perfect
Very warm pleasant atmosphere with excellent hosting skills. Really enjoyed our vegetarian lunch - each dish had a unique taste of its own. Stand alone presentation of each dish was exceptional and would highly recommend. Definitely dining here again and again. Well done to The Banyan Tree for providing such a wonderful dining experience
Having heard good things about this place, we were underwhelmed. Food was rather greasy.
We celebrated my grandson birthday party in Banyan tree. Chicken tikka and Sheekh kebab tasted great. Lamb was well cooked. Biriyani would have been made better. But overall it was a great experience. I recommend Banyan tree for good Indian food.
Had no idea such an amazing restaurant existed in Peterborough. New menu, friendly staff and exquisite cuisine. Such an exhilaration experience and friendly to the pocket too. Excellent food - great for that special occasion or just a treat. Vegetarian options: Amazing choice of vegetarian options. Very flexible to provide what you want just the way you want it Dietary restrictions: I am a strict vegetarian. Lots of options. Kid-friendliness: Special room upstairs if you wanted to host a party
Excellent restaurant and fantastic customer service. They went above and beyond when hosting a family birthday party, ensuring that everyone was comfortable and attended to everyones dietary requirements. Would definitely return.
We want to get to know and taste the traditional foods of different countries. So the choice fell on India. The restaurant has a family atmosphere, clean and tidy. The service is perfect, friendly and exemplary. You almost feel in India through the food. The food is very delicious and home-made. Plenty, the price-value ratio is perfect. We will definitely be returning guests.
Incredibly nice, polite and helpful staff. The tasting is very delicious, the appetizer is filling and a large portion. The staff helped us choose the main course and we took it with pleasure. The place is cozy, clean and friendly. They were happy to answer any questions we had and help us. I recommend everyone to give it a try, you wont be disappointed. We are sure to come again. Vegetarian options: Im not a vegetarian, but I saw an ample (2 pages) vegetarian offer on the menu. Parking: The restaurant is on the ground floor of a large shopping center. It can be approached from the street, it is worth parking in the shopping center. Kid-friendliness: Family, child and pet friendly place.
Friendly staff, great food, nice price
Just had the most magnificent starter and main. Wonderful. People are great.
Lovely evening with friends.... Food was great, service from waiter was exceptional... We cancelled our booking with Shah Jenan to come here as they serve alcohol. Really nice evening... See you again soon
The food is very nice. The owner and the waiter Oscar are both very friendly . Nothing was too much trouble for them Vegetarian options: We attended a Birthday party and Vegetarian food was excellent.
Not the same as your usual expectation of an Indian reatraunt, I.e. like for like. This is well balanced, although the menu is not as extensive as some, the dishes are varied and a welcome tweak on some of the classics. Good quality, reasonable price.
All Food is testy
Great restaurant. Great food. Great service.
Good food served with a smile. The owner was friendly too, came over and had a chat with us. I run a business as well and can appreciate these little friendly gestures.
Ive been eating at The Banyan Tree since 2018 both as a dine-in and takeaway customer. This place has some of the best Indian food youd ever find. Some dishes like Mysore Chilli Chicken, Lacha Paratha and Paneer Reshmi cannot be found at most other restaurants and these guys execute the recipes beautifully. Their Mixed Grill is also one of the best I have had. Highly recommended place to go to surprise someone or even to eat by yourself. They consistently improve their recipes and maintain excellent customer service. Love it.
Vegetarian options: Brilliant choice of vegetarian dishes - service was excellent not too long to wait for food - certainly recommend for a curry in Peterborough - parking across the road £2.50 for evening Food
Good indian food.
Had kari dosa at the restaurant and I was melted by the taste and presentation. Hats off to the chef. Awesome feel too
Good experience in this restaurant. Very nice service and good kitchen, try it with confidence !
My recent visit to The Banyan Tree left me with mixed feelings. While there were a few positives, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the food was tasty, but I couldnt help but feel that it was slightly overpriced for what was offered. The menu had promise, but the cost didnt quite match the quality. The decor and ambiance were rather average, lacking that special something to set it apart from other dining establishments. Service was just okay nothing particularly outstanding, but not terrible either. The staff did their job, but there was a lack of that extra effort to make the experience memorable. However, the most concerning aspect of our visit was that three out of four of us fell ill the next day. This was extremely disappointing and raised serious questions about the restaurants food safety and hygiene practices. Food poisoning is something no one should experience when dining out. Unfortunately, due to this negative experience, we wont be returning to this restaurant. We expected more for the price we paid and cannot overlook the health issues we encountered. Its essential for the restaurant to prioritize the well-being of its patrons and revisit its pricing and overall dining experience. In conclusion, our visit to The Banyan Tree was marred by a combination of factors, making it impossible to recommend. We hope that they take our feedback seriously and work towards improving their overall offering.
Really enjoyed my visit, very welcoming and friendly with a good balance of service and just leaving you to enjoy your meal. (Which I liked) the staff were helpful when asking about the menu and especially when asking about the levels of spice and heat. The meal was extremely good and I can only recommend and compliment the restaurant on their food and the quality of ingredients We had a great time and nothing was too much trouble, we found it was reasonably priced for the quality and standard of service and the food presented Will most definitely be back again and recommend the Banyan Tree to anyone , thank you again and see you soon
Best place for Indian foods
Lovely curry, great price and service was top notch
My Partner took me for my Birthday. We had the tasting menu. It was delicious and we left the restaurant full. Nice relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous food, and lovely people. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends x
The staff was really helpful. Thank you very much.
First time visitor to city , and been a Bradford boy originally was looking for a good Indian meal and really wasnt disappointed, whole experience was excellent. Well done to all staff and I highly recommend anyone visiting to try
absolutely yummy food.. haven t had lovely food like this in ages.. I would highly recommend this restaurant their food is so good and service is amazing very friendly staff great customer service. Vegetarian options: Good selection Kid-friendliness: I had my 2 years old daughter with me who was being difficult and a staff member gave her a pen and paper which kept her busy and happy. Thank you guys.
Great place for a curry Food was very good, but the service was a little off and chaotic. Food : 4/5
Building seems not maintained well and food is run of the mill just other curry house with notched up price tag. Its not Starbucks rather Bucksstar.
Great food and beer as usual. The shared Christmas menu was spot on.
Great food, have enjoyed several meals now and will keep coming back
Amazing food
Being clear to avoid tomatoes but the waitress still recommended meals with tomatoes base. It taste good but not great.
This is our absolute fav Indian place!! The chilly mogo is beyond delicious, I cannot find it anywhere else! The lunch specials are such an excellent price, it seriously cannot be beat. Definitely go during lunch and try the three course specials.
Really nice food, thoroughly enjoyed eating here.
We stopped off at The Banyan Tree restaurant in Westgate on a long drive home to London and I must say the food and experience was divine! Absolutely delicious meal, we initially thought we had ordered too much, had our young boys with us too but we finished it all. We had some lamb, mysore chilli chicken, chicken makhani and some chilli prawns, with some garlic and butter naans - all the spices and flavours were spot on, service was amazing. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant, must visit if you re in the area.
honestly so disappointing and massively overpriced. seekh kebabs are the size of childs fingers in both length and narrowness, biryani (veg) is £8.90 for some very large and hard cooked broccoli in stiff yellow rice. in london i can buy a larger + much better prepared portion for £3.20. i would mind the price and food quality less if the service was at all reasonable - but after ordering in person for takeaway and specifying ONLY that i would like mint sauce provided - when i came home i found instead: a large tub of raita (which i did not order), a large tub of ? (curry sauce? which i cannot identify and did not order) taking up half the space in the bag - and then, when opening the container of 4 seekh kebabs (which all put together would not even make up one regular seekh kebab), a comically tiny pot of mint sauce, which was finished before even 2 kebabs had been dipped into it. only giving 2* instead of 1* because the food was not actively harmful, just insulting. absolutely do not recommend.
They serve tasty and good quality food with Indian touch. Little bit expensive but value for money.
Absolutely fantastic, delicious fresh food. Will definitely visit again when I am back down again with work.
As usual, the food is spot on.
Superb food. Friendly service. Spot on.
Great food, consistently good. Recycled takeaway containers too.
I have passed Banyan Tree millions of times but never been inside. I was invited by a friend to join on yesterday (Saturday). However, I was a little worried since I have many food allergies and wasn`t sure but I decided to give it a go. For a starter we had veg samosas - fresh, crunchy from outside and tasty. Main a main course - chicken in tomatoe sauce (sorry cannot remember the name) which was succulent, very tasty, meat was tender. For side dish - rice and naan bread with finely chopped garlic. I loved the taste of fresh naan bread with garlic so much I even asked for another one ! I have ordered cucumber and melon drink - what a refreshing and pleasant drink. The place interior decor is combined between European and Far East (India) and works well. It`s clean, nicely decorated, relaxing, welcoming. Also, the service was really nice, helpful and friendly. The waiter was was very nice and explained which food contain ingredients that I am allergic to and should not eat. I definitely enjoyed my time there and will be coming back :)
Great ambience and friendly service. The quality and taste of the food were excellent. Highly recommend to everyone!
Absolutely amazing food and lovely staff.
Just got home from the most amazing Indian dining experience Ive ever had! Wow! Greeted by warm welcoming friendly staff. My other half and I opted for the tast of India experience, where were treated to the chefs special selection of the most tasty starters from deconstructed samosa to beautifully maintained mutton chops. Then followed by six of the most exquisite dishes from different regions of India! Each specially crafted by the most skilled chef who personally came to see if we were enjoying our meal at witch point if he had proposed I would of said yes! I cant wait to go back to try the dosa! Thank you for such an incredible meal!
Authentic taste of indian veg food, sizeable portions of dishes, service is good, overall value for money. the only strange thing was Vada Pav was served without Pav i.e. bread though it was mentioned in menu this was slightly disappointing but tasty food made up the mood
Super good food - really filling and flavourful!
It used to be a nice place when it opened. We went there for birthday dinner and were really disappointed. Food quality was barely ok, the taste was not great, just like any cheap takeaway but with doubled prices. Customer service was just OK. Would not recommend
Came across this little gem of a restaurant, they ve just added Masala Dosa to their menu and all I can say is WOW! Incredible, I m quite fortunate with my job that I get to travel all over the world and I always seek out for Dosa restaurants. Very impressed, I also tried the gunpowder Cauliflower starter that was 1 of the best I ve ever tasted. While I m in the area, I will 100% be back.
Excellent meal with good service
Visited this place last night with my wife and sister as we all love indian food. Ordered few classic starters as well as the main lamb and chicken dishes but the nicest thing was to get chana masala that was not in the main menu. The food was served quickly, was delicious and the service was great! All at very reasonable price. Will come again and highly recommend this place. Thanks!
Very nice food, excellent hospitality. Good Indian food with nice background Indian music. Highly recommended.
Fantastic food, lamb biryani in particular is gorgeous
Whats not to like... The cocktail menus are a thing of beauty all on their own, let alone the scrummy booze they promise. We went for all the starters, neither of us being massively hungry. We were utterly defeated, and delighted. The Indian dim sum were a turnup for the books, and SUPER HOT - caveat emptor
Food is fantastic, staff are friendly and a great service. Thoroughly recommend this gem of a find.
Food , decor and ambience is all so good..
Budget friendly Indian restaurant, love the variety of dishes they have. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is lovely. Along with 90s Bollywood music in the background it gets the feeling of being in India.
Rubbish food, rubbish prices, tiny portions. Can get better food for less money in London even! Do better, Peterborough.
Excellent service, delicious food!
Fab! Great food. Good beer. Still as good as ever!
Excellent meal and ambience as usual
This place is amazing for Indian food lovers....specially this restaurant has a delicious veg menu. Worth a try ....
Nice tasty Sunday lunch time meal.
Delicious dishes are available.Ambience is pleasant along with beautiful music all the time.
Where to start Me and my friend went to this restaurant They came to our table half an hour after we sat Then took order which wasn t deliver even on time We was there for over an hour yet they couldn t deliver the food. Such a waste of night Reply for the owner: Check your booking info we booked that night before we came in and they confirmed in the reception. I don t know if you even know the whole situations and talking nonsense.we ordered the food and your staff said it will be here 10min after that it took 45 min . We were there while 1:30 hour after order the food. If you re the owner the guy with the tablet then you really do not have any idea what s going on in your restaurant giving the impression of it Me and my friends never said anything to your staff you re making up about being rude to your staff. Ask your staff the lady she even apologised that it taking too long but we were hungry and didn t even know when food coming. None of us were rude to your staff and for your kind info other people ordered after us got their food before us. Please sort your priority. This happened to us when we booked the table. If we didn t book the table we wouldn t have been even come in
My Indian food plug. Food is amazing and customer service is top notch. I have tried other Indian restaurants, but Banyan Tree has my heart
I dined at the Banyan Tree yesterday with my friends it was eqsquite food . You eat with your eyes originally as we say in catering and this did not fail to impress. It was both beautiful aesthetically , flavour and in its presentation. The waiters and management gave us a south Indian culnery tour in sommelier style , presenting each course and explaining its ingredients in fine detail. Compliments to your chef and staff Banyan Tree you are a credit to our industry and we are lucky to have establishments like yours. You made us feel welcome and special throughout. Kind regards Max Thomas
Incredible food, lots of vegan options and capabilities of making vegan dishes when requested. Staff were extremely friendly, lovely decor too.
Due 2120 arrived 2206 no communication tried to call 40 times and no answer. No calls, nothing. Not impressed at all. Wont even bother if the food is good to change this review.
Just fantastic
Lovely choice of food for all tastes and the staff were very attentive, definitely go again Vegetarian options: Lovely choice for vegetarians &vegan Wheelchair accessibility: Just a shame no wheelchair access
Very good place for food. Nice options.
Vegetarian options: Many and varied
The food was DELICIOUS!! The staff were really lovely and provided great conversation and they try their beat to seat everyone in an area to still have the privacy of communicating with those you come with. All in all it was a amazing place to be
Excellent Indian food in the heart of Peterborough city center. Good ambience. They also serve good cocktails. Loved the Pani Puris and veg food.
Loved the food ambience and affordable price ... smart combo was attractive n apt portion size
Lovely food, had a variety of options to choose from
Ordered Take away from The Banyan Tree tonight. The times said 60 minutes within 20 minutes arrived at the door. Our 1st time of ordering will definitely order again. We ordered Aloo Gobhi, Saag Aloo, Bombay Aloo, Naan, Murg Tikka Massala, Pilau Rice, Egg Fried Rice and Poppadoms. I couldnt say a negative word about anything. Thank you Banyan Tree you made my week.
If this is Indian food then Im Pope. Everything tastes the same. The food has nothing to do with India. Seems they do 2-3 base curry and mix & match to do 20 dishes. Hideous is the best to describe it..
Ordered online and collected. This was the best Ive eaten in a long time. This will be my new regular and cant wait to go for a sit down meal. The menu is varied with some authentic dishes. All food was hot and flavoursome. Cant recommend this enough. Excellent
Bland.. Plain. More substance from a supermarket microwavable meal. Different dishes were ordered yet the sauces were exactly the same. Wouldnt recommend.
First time using The Banyan Tree, issue with original delivery but dealt with brilliantly and efficiently by staff and after a little longer wait, food was delivered and was definitely worth the wait. Each dish was bursting with individual flavour. The complimentey bhajis were amazing, lamb and chicken literally melts in your mouth and the portion sizes were very generous. Nothing to fault was all perfect. Thank you, will definitely be using again
I am a regular customer, absolutely adore your food (have given you 5 stars before) but recently there are occasions (tonight) when it just doesnt taste the same. Whats happening??? The Tikka is so so so salty tonight, I cant eat it!!! Its a real shame coz you normally serve an amazing food. Somethings not right! Fix this for us, your loyal customers!
Best food in Peterborough
Lovely food hot and fresh
This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants Ive ever been too! Not your typical Indian - amazing dishes and probably one of the best lamb chops Ive had as starters. Everytime I go to Peterborough I always visit and never disappointed. I cant wait to go back!
I have just one word.......FANTASTIC
The best Indian food I ever had! I strongly recommend it!
Lovely food, great service. Would definitely recommend. Amazing mojito!
My dish was like eating tomato soup with bits of chicken in it. My partners taste more like black pepper. Their dish menu has not got a lot to offer and nothing spicy or traditional. Brought wrong drinks to us. It was a waste of money never again will we get going here the food was so disappointing
Atmosphere was more modern than the Bombay Brasserie, and had a more authentic food feel. Felt like less oil was used which is always a bonus for an Indian restaurant. Staff were very friendly and flexible, e.g. in making good mild for the kids. All waiters and waitresses were attentive. The suki bhindi was good as was the chilli paneer.
My favourite restaurant. The sauces are the best Ive ever had for an Indian.
Great food
Great food!
Had a hearty vegetarian meal. Kachumber salad was differently unique on my taste buds and dal makhani was out of the world (damn good). The waiting staff and as very accommodating and friendly.
My favourite Indian restaurant! The slow cooked lamb Bhuna Gosht is delicious and the pickle tray is amazing I love it!
Lovely food , friendly staff , good atmosphere .
Great food as always and lovely food
At £30 the tasting menu remains excellent value for money and the food is superb
Absolutely Amazing!!! Great in every way! From food, to service, to drink selection (we stuck to the Cobra - but so many other fab beers to choose from! N non-beers too, obviously!) The quality of experience was just second to none n we live 40+miles away, but Ill def be back soon. Thank you!
Very good meal. Staff were very attentive and food was cooked perfectly.
Lovely service from staff. Easily accessible. Food is Devine. Reasonably priced with table service. Would recommend it.
First class Indian food
Ordered takeaway, the food arrived when it was supposed to and was the best curry we have had in Peterborough. Would definitely recommend trying their gunpowder gobi.
Always good food.. was here after a long time. Still fresh good authentic Indian food
Absolutely great
Delicious! We ve tried so many Indian takeaways in Peterborough and this is by far the best! Just ordered for the first time & it was all delicious & speedy delivery! thank you
Had a lovely Indian delivered. Very tasty and the staff were very helpful.
Our first meal out after lockdown and decided to go to Banyan Tree. Great choice as the food was delicious and the staff was polite and friendly keeping all the safety measures in place. Definitely will be back and recommend to friends and family!
Great service, great friendly calming atmosphere along with prompt food service
Best curry Ive had in a long time; great flavours, and top quality ingredients.
Ordered a curry quite hungry and the portions are tiny. About half what Id want. I will have to have a sandwich after, thats never good with the cost. The dim sum is next to pathetic. The flavour is good though. If you are a 5 foot, 80 year old female it would be perfect.
Absolutely beautiful food. Great service too. Thoroughly recommended.
Omg what a Diamond restaurant very highly recommended food quality is outstanding...wish portions were a bit bigger but everything tastes so perfectttttt....i love it went for lunch and dinner...will deffo make it my regular
Tasty food, nice service
Visited this place for a meal with my wife and was disappointed with the quality of the food. My order was as listed on the menu Kadai Prawns Large firm Black Tiger Prawns tossed in our speciality spicy sauce with Peppers and Onions. If you like your prawns on the prickly side of medium, then this is the dish for you as it can be spiced up according to taste. The prawns where cheap frozen from a supermarket in a spicy sauce withe a few peppers and onions thrown in The Bombay aloo was tinned potato s in some kind of sauce The service was good and the staff where polite but I could have cooked this better at home myself I also suspect the mushroom rice was from a packet How they can advertise this food on the menu and try to make you think that s what you are getting is a complete rip off I have visited many Indian restaurants in my time and this food has to be in the bottom 3 that I ve been to for food quality Visit at your peril I won t be returning again
Really enjoyed our food here. The atmosphere was great andthe staff were helpful. I would happily come back of Im in the area
Simply the finest Indian food in Peterborough. Thankyou
Great food. Did lunch time on a Saturday and place was very quiet, felt like we had the place to ourselves. The food is amazing and we took adavantage of the lunch special. Would recommend here to anyone
Very good service. The food is absolutely delicious. Ive always played safe with take aways and either go for Dansak or Biriani but decided to go for the Goan fish curry this time and so pleased I did. Three other diners had differing meals and all were very complimentary. Well done, we will definitely be going back.
I ve never had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant itself but I get it delivered. It is the best, most delicious curry I have ever had. I will never order curry from anywhere else! Definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!
I go here with friends. Lovely food and great service
