2-3 Rivergate, Peterborough PE1 1EL, United Kingdom
Relaxed Italian eatery with checkered tablecloths & hanging wine bottles, plus a deli counter.
4 of us popped in for a late lunch of pizza and risotto. Both the food and service were excellent, and as we took advantage of the 1/2 price pizza,I even enjoyed paying the bill. Lovely atmosphere . As we were driving asked if there was an " Peroni zero beer", but unfortunately no zero beer is available. Perhaps this could be looked at as nobody wants to drink and drive. Really lovely place to go to. We shall be back for sure.
Called in on the off chance. Place was fully booked but luckily the staff made space for my wife and I. A lovely warm sanctuary on a cold wet day. Food was good wine was good and all friendly and speedy.
We enjoyed a leisurely 3 course meal in a very relaxing atmosphere. The food was amazing, as was the service. The decor is very authentic. One wall is completely covered with a painted, colourful map of Sicily. Blue and white checked table cloths and the usual shelved and hanging wine bottles add to the decor An adjoining shop sells a wide variety of Italian foods. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area 😀
We visited Peterborough for the first time and found this Sicilian café which was totally out of our expectation ! We ordered a pizza and a pasta, both of them were really authentic and delicious ! Highly recommended !
Friendly Italian restaurant. I just popped in for breakfast & loved the welcome, the food & the good value (£5.50 for a “small” breakfast…that wasn’t small😊see pics). I’ll definitely be back with the family. Grazie mille!🇮🇹
Fratelli is a fantastic little Italian deli restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The seafood risotto was delicious, featuring fresh, perfectly cooked seafood and creamy, flavorful rice. Service was quick and efficient, and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!
Stunning little gem hidden away. I ordered a pizza with salad and a side of fries. Beautiful food and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend. It's by far the best pizza I've had. Eat between 3-5 Mon - Fri they have a half price offer on pizza.
What a little gem. Beautifully decorated feels like you are in a restaurant in Italy! Pizza was delicious and portions generous. They were happy to change some of the toppings on the pizza to something else we wanted. The waitress was lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back
The food is always excellent in this restaurant and their half price deals between 3-5 in the week day afternoons are exceptional value.
Nice pizza horrible expresso.
Wonderful place for eats and or coffee Friendly atmosphere Food
Good Italian homemade food. Breakfasts are great.
Very nice breakfast here, decent selection from Small to large English and eggs and Salmon. Parking: Park for free in supermarket for 90 mins
Excellent lunchtime meal
I have visited many times, very tasty coffee, and amazing food. Family business and Italian shop. Great prizes for all the food. Highly recommended
So a friend and I meet up once a month. For breakfast. And we randomly ended up here. Unaware until passing that a hearty English breakfast would be on the menu at an intalian restaurant. Not being from peterborough, only having lived here a couple of years. Not really sure on where to go for this. Tried a couple of naff places. But was pleasantly surprised with out fry up. We were greeted on arrival. Which is nice. Decent tea bags so enjoyed my cuppa. Only downside was only full fat milk available, but tea bag flavour made up for that. Buttered toast. Two bacon (flavour and crispy) Sausages were really nice.not crappy cheap ones. And chef you made one of the best poached eggs that I have had for a while. Food didnt take long to come. Arrived hot. Perfect amount served. Not bombarded by service. So we could actually catch up. Team members appeared pretty chilled, not stressed out working, which is fantastic to be around. Hopefully means manager is fair and pretty cool in his/hers approach. Place appeared pretty clean. Didnt use restroom. Spotted a chocolate tort. Which you dont see many places. Will be pack. If Asda parking gave more time, we would of had a little browse in the store. Maybe next time. Would like to come back to try out the itailian food. Only down side was alot of back and forth foot traffic, quite close, which overwhelms me,so didnt like that. Would like to return at somepoint.
Really looking forward to visiting a family run restaurant for my husband s birthday. Food ok. Staff offered minimum communication, they were only interested in getting home . Packing up chairs around us and ultra quick service . Will not be returning. Many more other friendly resturant in Peterborough to be bothered with this unfriendly place. Disappointingly My husband did not enjoy his birthday sadly. But they had £80 from us.
Delicious Italian cuisine.
Been coming here for a couple of months on a Friday for breakfast and its a lovely atmosphere the staff are friendly and the breakfast is excellent Cheers Bob Food
Mmmmehhh. How can they call this Italian food ? Had better from a Lidl ready meal. Food : 2/5
Our waitress was lovely and welcoming. However, as someone that doesn t eat dairy the menu had no choice. I asked if the pasta was dairy free? (I had planned on having the arrabiata)She asked the girl who was cooking and she said no. The pasta they sell in the shop is dairy free, so I thought it might be egg free as a lot of Italian pasta is. So I asked if the risotto with veg waa dairy free, the waitress went back to ask the cook and she said she just won t put any dairy in. When it came out it was rice literally swimming in oil, not what I d expect of a risotto, it also tasted buttery so I feel some dairy was used. It really tasted awful . My son had a pizza which looked good. But they do not cater for any dietary requirements kindly at all. My glass was also very smelly.
Was good
Excellent food at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant too. Highly recommended!
Having arrived at 11:50 a.m we were split between breakfast and lunch so within our group had both. Our host was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble but be sure to get your breakfast order in before 12:00 The portions are generous and good value. The coffee machine wasnt working at the time of our visit. Parking: We parked at Wansford Station and caught the train on the NVR then walked the 10 minutes or so from the station. A great way to arrive.
Great place to eat and take in the Italian Café vibe. Tasty food, I had the scrambled egg and smoked salmon, yummy Italian deli and shop on site too, packed full of authentic pasta and goodies. Reasonably priced. Service friendly and quick. Would definitely recommend. Food
Sometimes they get your order wrong but most of the time its ok Wheelchair accessibility: Yes Food : 4/5 |
Lovely old school eatery. Great food and atmosphere.
Friendly staff a good breakfast and coffee at a reasonable price .
Service was ok. Food came quickly and was tasty
Lovely food, but they do not have a childrens menu. They will serve smaller portions for children, but not at a reduced cost.
Proper Italian food at reasonable prices, one of the best pizzas with fresh pizza dough, definitely recommend
Love it like being on holiday xx
One of the best pizzas I ever tried! Hot chocolate and ice tea were delicious too. Coffee with ice cream a little disappointing as was cold (I guess because of wrong ratio of ingredients )and a scoop of ice cream was old, with sticky bits.
Take away sandwiches are great, a good selection.
Very good lasagne, one of best I have had!
Consistently serves a good full English breakfast Pretty interior, attentive professional waitresses. Very hard to fault Food
Had breakfast. Just amazing quality and taste. The most well presented deli I have seen in the UK. I felt I was on holiday. Make time to visit and enjoy this amazing experience!!
Im giving 1* review because this wont allow us to give zero!!! HORRIBLEEEE COSTUMER SERVICE TERRIBLE FOOD, terrible prices, environment made us feel like we were shopping in a supermarket or a large carboot, theres stuff packed all over the place, looks awful, but from the outside kinda looked good so thats why we went in and gave it a try. We wished we never did!!! From the beggining as soon as we sat down for a peaceful romantic meal it went wrong!! We ordered a mango juice, arrived a orange mango juice, 99% orange 1% mango, my mrs hated it and wished if they dont have mango juice alone shouldn t be on the menu or the server should have told us, so she could decide, she hates orange so she would go for something else, instead she didnt drink anything, the servers took the juice back and still tried to charge us on the bill!!! Then we chose couple starters and arrived garlic bread that we didnt even order!!! Next meal: food was bland, rice looked microwaved and no taste at all. Mrs barely ate anything and when we tried to call a server, the young male server was busy eating pizza on the back and still coming to the front serving costumers chewing food and from the table we were seating we could see the whole window where food comes out from and where the waiter was munching on food with his hands. Then the waitresses were too busy cleaning tables and chatting didnt come to our table, the lady on bar that serves drinks was busy putting lipstick and looking herself in mirror in front of costumers like us on tables that were looking Then we saw the owner ( super rude old man) We told him everything was going wromg and if he had wifi, and he said no people should talk to each other so we dont have wifi made me stand up to go look to a sign on the bar that said that!!! And asked me: is costumer service bad here because we dont have wifi??? And i said nooo!!! Everything been going wrong since we arrived!!! Told him everything that went wrong and he said ohh its young waiters they need to learn well thats not really my problem if they don t have experience Super rude not smiling nothing to give us 1% of better moment that we were having WE WILL NEVER GO BACK and wont recommend to anyone!!! Bill on the end was wrong we asked to take juice off and just paid and left!!! No need for desserts or anything we just wanted to get away Absolutely horrible what a disappointment
Cannot recommend this gorgeous little place enough. Amazing smells and tastes. Beautiful food and lovely cakes. Can do a little shop there too for sauces, pastas, biscuits and there is also a deli for fresh produce Parking: Asda car park is 2 hours for free. 1 minute walk from Fratelli Kid-friendliness: Lovely portion sizes for kids
I have been today at the Fratelli tavola Calsa, to buy some italian food products. I have been served by young lady, who did even border to say: Yes please or Hello....!!! Very unprofessional. I politely said to her hello, and she didnt even reply she just was just looking at me in not very pleasant way. Who ever owns this pkace, your employees should greet the customers, not customers them. And even if customers greet them, they dont bother to greet back at all very rude. My colleagues from the council, theyre quite shock by that of kind rude service, and reaction. Who ever own this busines, shame on you....!!! that you employing that kid rude employees in your own business. If I knew that I will be treated like in that kind manner, I would never even bother to waste my time there, or even spending money in that kind rude place.
Poor service, Im a vegan and was spoken to very rude and aggressive manner about not having any vegan cheese, with current times how can you not offer a vegan cheese option?! Absolutely ridiculous
Absolutely delicious and value for money we will definitely be returning
We had breakfast here, which is fairly priced and was very good quality and tasty food. Well worth eating in this restaurant a hidden gem. Family run and great service.
Overall Id give this one a pass. The place was very noisy when we visited and the young blond guy who greeted us made me feel rather unwelcome. The place was almost empty when we visited yet we were not allowed to choose a good table. The table given to us was right next to the bar where the staff were making a lot of noise slamming the dishes and cutlery. Why does a restaurant need to be as noisy as a pub?
What a lovely little place we will definitely be going back
Food was wonderful
friendly atmosphere between staff and diners, and even between diners on different tables.
Lovely little place. The food was very nice. What a nice place for a spot of lunch. Or early dinner
Disappointed, used to be my favourite restaurant in Peterborough. Service very poor . Did you changed chef ? Food was dispointed . Bisteca is not value the money Food
Very quaint, delicious food.
Wow (in the most disappointing tone one could possibly imagine). Never have I had a worse experience at a restaurant. There was a rusty, sharp piece of metal in the Melanzane, which we showed the waiter. He took the plate in but we did not even receive a mere apology. Instead, once we had asked for the bill, the man in charge comes out and gets pissed off at us?!?? He storms off after hesitantly giving it to us free of charge. The bill arrives at the table (which is a piece of paper with a written number on it no break down). In short, if u need a quick easy way for your Mother s Day celebrations to be ruined, THIS IS THE PLACE
Very very nice food. Make sure not to have cream with the carbonara. Its not suppose to have cream in it.
If possible , would award 6 stars. Friendly service. Amazing little find to be honest. Only disappointment was I couldnt manage the whole menu so will have to come back time and time again. Highly recommend for families couples etc
Our go-to place while in Peterborough. Authentic Italian fayre and very good value. Great stock of essentials for home cooking.
Excellent, very friendly staff.
Fabulous lunch, beautiful food amazing service. The owner was so welcoming and could not do enough for us. We will definitely be back. Don t be put of because of where it is
I havent been here in years, always had lovely pasta dishes etc previously, however saw it was open for breakfast so we gave it a go. Not alot of different options, nothing vegan... maybe vegan sausages or tofu scramble etc? However what we did have was lovely... mushrooms especially were delish. Coffee was top notch. Price was comparable to the rubbish you get in supermarket cafes... and way, way nicer. Lovely deli too for olives, meats etc and dried goods like panettone, pasta, coffee etc...
Great place to visit even just for coffee but the food and staff are amazing
After spending time looking for a nonchain place to have some lunch with my wife we remembered this place. Lunch was nice, the service was efficient and at least the food tasted authentically Italian
Good vibe and authentic Italian food
A real Sicilian experience
£18 for a small piece of inedible veal. It was changed without question for chicken which was cheaper but not reflected on the bill. Service good. But expensive for what it is.
Such a rude service long time waiting just for one plate the lady who works there is very rude they made us wait over 45 minutes and the food was cold I dont recommend going there . The room temperature is very cold I freezing while waiting for food
Great italian deli . The food in the restaurant was fresh, well seasoned and hot when served. The staff are friendly, a lovely family restaurant. Food
Love the authentic food (lasagne is my favourite) great serice and great atmosphere. My go to when eating in the city
Amazing place, beautiful food
Great breakfast at a great price
While getting the double large breakfast I was short a couple of items. Maybe caught the waitress on a bad day as she didnt look happy and didnt feel the need to add to her day Didnt effect the meal. The quality of food was amazing, would highly recommend.
Lovely pasta & good coffee, authentic little Italian restaurant with a fab deli too. Please review service, more friendly & welcoming wld be great!
Amazing food. Love the calamari. Will be back! Food
Delicious food, reasonable prices
This Italian is a hidden gem, absolutely fabulous food . Staff are amazing you could be sitting in Italy . Buy some olives to take home I can guarantee they won t last long .
We received our pizza after 40mins, and the pizza was smaller than the plate, where the plate wasnt too big either. It was quite good as always, but the size wasnt as good as its always been.
Pizza was best Id ever had. Lovely restaurant and shop.
fantastic food, Rocco thank you it was a pleasure meeting you and cant wait to return. It just felt like home
Always delicious. Had a fabulous full English breakfast. Pizza and other dishes all great too. Very friendly staff.
Best Italian place I have been outside Italy. Amazing food and service. Warm family business restaurant
Fantastic little gem in the heart of the city, fantastic food, and I highly recommend different foods sold from the deli counter really is a fantastic little shop/ restaurant
The best
The most aggressive rude owner prowls around the restaurant like a predator looking for prey. A polite young lady came in and asked him if she could use WiFi and was given a very rude reply. As I was on call I had a takeaway paper cup so that even if I had to leave promptly then I could leave with the cappuccino. He grumbled to the poor young waitress, questioning why I never had a proper cup. The owner is a portly grey haired Italian man aged about seventy plus with a handlebar moustache and a red complexion.. Anyway.....let me explain how I was left fuming mad and was going to confront him right in front of other diners but having manners that he lacks decided to leave an honest review. Now the waitress was fine. I had a regular breakfast at a reasonable price. The only complaint was cold damp toast already buttered which is a no no as it should gave been left for me to spread my own. I like to know what butter it is and the amount I want to spread. Obviously he was using a large cheap margerine/butter container which will no be to most fine diners liking. Anyway I hope you read this Mr Frattelli.
Pizza was delicious, service was excellent!
10/10 lovely owner, with a Sad but heartwarming life story
Beautiful, authentic dining. Great service and the owner was chatting with my Grandparents about his time in Sicily.
Lovely
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fratelli Tavola Calda, an authentic Italian restaurant in Peterborough, UK. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the warmth and hospitality of the family-owned establishment that has been in business for 40 years. The atmosphere is charming and inviting, making you feel right at home. The menu is filled with delicious Italian dishes that are prepared from scratch, using only the freshest ingredients. They sell wonder pasta and pesto (and much more) both of which were a true taste of Italy. In addition to the main menu, Fratelli Tavola Calda also offers a selection of pastries and desserts that will leave your taste buds wanting more. And lets not forget about the coffee - it truly is amazing! Overall, I highly recommend Fratelli Tavola Calda to anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience. The food is exceptional, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Dont hesitate to check it out and support this family-owned gem.
Excellent food and service
Discrimination against people with service dogs. Rude communication.
Food looked bland on arrival, but was pleasantly surprised with a very tasty meal. Wheelchair accessibility: Though wheel chairs can move in and out of restaurant easily, access to disabled toilet is up a long flight of stairs!!!!!!!
Lovely shop with good breakfast
Great place to buy genuine Italian foods. Also had a delicious breakfast . Food
Loved the atmosphere ,staff were great Food was great..large portions too Food
Nice little Italian restaurant. Good food cooked to perfection. The only fault I found was that the waitress took her time coming to us and seemed rather grumpy when she took our order. Took the edge of a bit. Food : 5/5
Friendly service, nice cosy atmosphere & good food.
Amazing Italian restaurant, i absolutely love their pizzas, always fresh and tasty. Great customer service highly recommended if youve never been.
Lovely pasta & good coffee, authentic little Italian restaurant with a fab deli too.
Lovely deli sandwiches!!!
The service was a little slow, but the chips were great. That is all I had. My friend had a pizza which she said was very nice. Parking: You can stay up to two hours for free in the Asda carpark. Do not exceed the time limit as you will get a ticket.
Been twice one for breakfast and this was lovely, I had the fry up and the sausages were more like chipolatas which were nice, the second time I went I had the lasagna I wasnt overly impressed with it as the sheets were sloppy but I guess thats because it was pre-made and reheated which can turn you pasta sheets sloppy, it wasnt horrible but it didnt compare to a proper home cooked Italian lasagna. Little bit pricey but it is a nice place.
Lovely restaurant, friendly, good service and gorgeous freshly made food.
Just had coffees, nice though.
I personally think it is a nice place to eat
Always like to come here when visiting family in Peterborough. The pizzas are great and the atmosphere welcoming! The 2 for 1 offer is also an added bonus!
Very good coffee
Cant comment on food but looked amazing. Had a coffee that was very good and not expensive
Not as good as years ago Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, milk free Food : 3/5 |
Ive been going here for years and would and have recommended it to everyone, with brilliant service a friendly atmosphere and most importantly great food it really is a great place to be.
Just stopped for a hot drink. Food looks great.
Really enjoyed the breakfast from here, good sausages and bacon, friendly staff members too, and reasonable priced.
Cosy lively eatery cafe deli worth a visit, food n atmosphere is top notch never let down.
Five of us Posh fans had lunch at Fratellis today before the game .I had todays special , Italian sausages with pasta in a piquant tomato sauce with a side salad . It was awesome , beautifully cooked . My friends enjoyed their dishes, all in all a very special lunch . Thanks Fratellis.
good food :) and friendly personnel
Fab pizza and great team.
Its a good place , but ot the best, its worth it to try . Pizza is very nice
Rude owners 4 adults hitting 1 child on video
Authentic Italian in terms of atmosphere and the food. All ingredients are imported which makes the taste so great!
Delicious food
Brilliant meal, friendly Staff, Great Owner very Welcoming and Funny
First time there so didnt know the protocol. There were plenty of empty tables so went to sit down and was told rudely that we couldnt sit where we had chosen. We had to sit at a much smaller table. The food was good and well presented. We were not asked if everything was OK or check if we wanted anything else like another coffee. Overall a pleasant place to eat with the bonus of the deli.
Great little place. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Love it! Vegetarian options: Vegan friendly Food : 5/5 |
Had a lovely full English breakfast.
Decided to pay a visit for lunch today with my 4 year old daughter. Nice atmosphere inside and I like that it is a proper authentic Italian with the Deli attached it added character. The food was very nice, huge portion for lunch but they offer to box up what you don t eat to take away which I did. You could tell the ingredients used were of high quality and it was definitely worth it. Sometimes my daughter doesn t eat much of her meals but she demolished the pizza which was a good sign, far to many chips for her but no complaints as it better to have to much then not enough. Will be returning without a doubt!
Delicious pasta.
Staff are attentive and helpful. Food is always amazing and I always try to have the special of the day as the dishes are delicious. Food
Just walked out of there now shocking service and attitude. Me and my wife went for breakfast there was only two tables occupied it was very quiet first hostess told us to sit were we like so we did I m a larger disabled chap so we sat at a 4 person table because of room before we were served we were abruptly asked to move to a small table by another member of staff I could understand if they were busy but it was empty so we left and we were told to sit were we liked when we went in so bad service and attitude
Service second to none
Great lunch spot for an antipasti and a glass of wine
Cant beat this amazing cafe its a must to try breakfast is excellent service amazing it always has plenty of people in
Fantastic pizzas
Super ok! I like!
You will like it if you like authentic Italian meats, pasta and pizza I mean the panchetta they actually sell is so mature and authentic that it blew me away as a none Italian person who only ever eats panchetta from the supermarkets nice food! Some girls that work there come across a bit ignorant and short however the owner is lovely and accommodating!
Had half price pizzas with lovely friends. All delicious. Staff friendly & helpful
Went with friend and enjoyed service was brilliant.
Fab food and a real taste of Italy. Staff are professional and friendly.
Fabulous food, service a real Sicilian feel
Came here for breakfast when picking up a passport. Really nice place. We had continental breakfast. Nice. Good coffees as well. We did a bit of shoppas well, for cheese and panatone. Some great Italian produce. Recommended. Food
Absolutely delightful every visit. A real Gem
Love the food always top quality and pleasant staff
Lucky the pizzas are nice because the guy in the kitchen had a terrible attitude, the 2 star service is boosted by the other staff
Cute looking place with a deli counter attached to the cafe. We came here for breakfast - the menu was quite basic, i.e. eggs, sausages and toast plus variations of this, which wasnt what I expected from an Italian restaurant. But anyways, the food was nice enough and the coffee was good which was the most important thing. The service seemed a little rushed - there was only one waitress working and she had no time for pleasantries. It wasnt a problem, just something I noticed.
Excellent and friendly service. Quality food as always. Well stocked Deli and shop. Love this place
Got the excellent half price offer, as a takeaway, food was plentiful and delicious really enjoyed and the staff are lovely
Finally some good Italian products. Parking: 2h max parking under asda. Food : 5/5 |
Lovely food and friendly staff.
Food is great here.
Such a nice guy met Rocco today in his restaurant what a lovely man me and my partner came from Norwich and had some dinner felt like I was in Italy best I ve had
Love this place
Fantastic the food was amazing. I will be back
Excellent pizza lovely service
Amazing
My go to Bacon buttie haunt when visiting Peterborough...great deli too
The food was good. Prices are also fair. It was very busy when I went so it took some time to get the waitresses attention. I
Visited this nice italian restaurant on Friday afternoon and gave the pizza (priced at 12 GBP) a try. The pizza was super delicious, huge in portion size and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Always love this place but remember to book as you might not just get a table on a Saturday afternoon.
Lovely little Italian bistro. Pizza was yum.
Great breakfast and staff
good
Quite disappointed. We went there for breakfast, and we asked for continental breakfast with preserves, croissants, cheese and cured meats(7 pound each) I also got poached eggs on toast (6 pound). Two other guys got English breakfasts (which were good). The ones who ordered the continental ones were disappointed, me included. Our plates looked quite sad. Continental breakfast has been served with the smallest jam, very low quality croissant. It was the only Italian item on the menu for breakfast, and we are all from Italy, so going to a Italian restaurant we re aspecting a lot more than that. Poached eggs were poor. I had definitely more gnammy ones somewhere else in town for 1 pound more. The cured meat was good quality. The products are from Italy, but I don t think the owners or any member of the staff is Italian. We still want to try their pizza, hopefully my review will improve
Had a lovely meal there last sat with my son delish
What a fantastic find. Went in for a break during a busy shopping trip, in time for breakfast. Great choices and quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. Great waitress service too, friendly and helpful . Looking forward to going back to sample the lunch menu Food
I really enjoyed my meal and even when I asked for something to be cooked a little more this was not a problem and was done with a smile Parking: There are multiple places to park but free parking is a little further of a walk Wheelchair accessibility: All on one floor and appeared to be plenty of room between tables
Disgusting attitude from the owner of the place
Love this place
Will visit again. Highly reckoned.
This place makes the best pizza in Peterborough! The staff are super friendly, the vibes are great and they have a nice pantry attached to the restaurant with really nice products. 100% recommend this for a great meal!
