Prévost @ the Haycock in Peterborough

This is a very good restaurant and certainly worth visiting. However it seems to have lost something since it moved out of its previous home in Peterborough. The current menu is good but lacks the creativity and exciting flavours of the previous one, they do seem to be playing it safe which is a bit of a shame. Still worth a special journey to eat there though.

Excellent food, fine tastes, masterclass level.

Unfortunately had to cancel (with well over a weeks notice) due to unforeseen circumstances. Had to pay a £20 deposit at the time so called up multiple times and was told it would be sent back (to which I am still waiting). Have never had this before for any restaurant reservation ever made. Would of course have understood if it was 24-48 hours notice but to take customers money with this much notice is unreasonable and unfair. Would not recommend booking as felt extremely scammed.

Disappointed service was really slow

The food, service, staff, ambience - all fantastic! This restaurant offers great value for money considering the fabulous & creative food offerings. The amuse bouche selections between course are a lovely addition and makes the meal more of an occasion. Just fabulous!

Food and service were both very good however this was let down somewhat by 2 tables of 6 guests pushed together to form a party of 12. Unfortunately it was then difficult to have a conversation due to the noise level.

Wow wow wow, what a fantastic find. This place is fabulous! I took my husband here for a three course lunch and it was incredible. We were warmly greeted, the staff were so welcoming. We were lucky enough to have the whole restaurant to ourselves as it was a weekday lunch and it just made it extra special ( I tried to claim I booked it out for just us). The service was top notch, we were looked after right from the start. The food was incredible, it was imaginative and creative. I love that each chef would come and explain the dish. We had fabulous treats in between each course too which was so unexpected. The courses flowed perfectly, they couldn t have been timed better. Staff were attentive. We had a couple of allergies to be aware of and they tailored the menu just for us. The decor is stunning, the view is fabulous and the music was just right. It was so reasonably priced for such a special experience. If you love to try new foods and flavours then this is the place to go. Thank you for making everything so wonderful.

Absolutely amazing the best meal I have ever had. Loads of choice and everything made to perfection, Varied menu with a modern twist beutifully presented. I need to visit again!

Booked a birdcage for a 50th anniversary got to restaurant made to wait 20 minutes ask should we go through, then had to wait again finally told our cage had been given to someone else tried to usher us out. Gave discount and complimentary drinks but killed our night.

This was an exceptional experience especially for my sister Suraia who has never been to a fine-dining establishment. We thoroughly enjoyed it and for the Peterborough area, we are very lucky to have a place like this.!

Nice food, obviously a well trained chef in the kitchen. Front of house staff just ok. Nice looking hotel but the bar had little or no staff ?

There is something very special about Prevost. This is our third visit in as many months. Excellent service, great wine selection and exquisite food. Highly recommend to all!

We visited Prévost for lunch. Quite simply it was all stunning. The care and attention to detail in each of the dishes was incredible. From first snack to petit four every bite was delicious. Stand out dishes for me being the Venison loin with pastrami spices (beautifully paired with Bogle Vineyards Petite Sirah) and the Truffle crumpet with Norfolk Mardler, chorizo & pear Service was warm, friendly and knowledgeable, and there was beautiful view of the gardens from the restaurant itself with a great bar lounge for Pre/Post drinks. Couldnt recommend this place more. Great job from all involved

This was our second time at Prevost and this time we came with friends. The food is exceptional and the wine pairing was perfect too. We can t recommend this restaurant highly enough. It really is a hidden gem.

A truly incredible 8 course tasting menu and wine flight. Flavours and textures wonderful. The three snacks before the meal started were a lovely touch. The sommelier was knowledgeable yet not pretentious. Waiting staff delightful, striking a good balance between professionalism and warmth. The pastry chef needs a medal for her desserts - absolutely delicious creations.

Nine courses of heaven!! We didn t want it to be over. We have followed Lee Clarke and Prévost for a while and now they re at the newly renovated Haycock it s a flawless experience. The dining space is stunning and feels like it should be in a high end London restaurant. It s been beautifully decorated and designed. A particular thing we like is that tables aren t close together as you sometimes get, so it feels intimate. Staff are warm and welcoming, and we love the way that often the chef who created that dish will serve the table and explain what it is and how it was made. Blows my mind every time. They are such a talented team. The food itself is just stunning. We are big foodies and there are dishes that we will remember forever. Just remarkable! If you enjoy fine dining and want to go somewhere special this by far is the best place for miles. There is nowhere else like this locally. It s a real gem. We will definitely be visiting again for our next celebration and will always recommend it to people who appreciate fine food.

We ate at Prevost last night and my first reaction would be WOW! Had the 5 course taster menu with wine flight. Certainly wasn t expecting the snacks that first arrived on our table! Beautiful cracker with mackerel pate, savoury macaroon and a little jug of what I can only describe as nectar. Each course that arrived in front of me was an absolute delight! Taste and texture combinations, inspired. I chose the fish dish as my main; meltingly flaky roasted cod with buttery brown shrimps contrasted with little rounds of sharp cucumber, delicious! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable which made for a nice relaxed experience. We and our friends will definitely be back. PS the Glenmorangie fudge which was a little extra, very moreish!

Cant recommend this restaurant enough. We had the 8 course tasting menu and it was all absolutely sublime. Each dish was beautifully crafted and tasted exquisite. Ive always been a savoury person, but the desserts were so delicious that I may have been converted! My partner is allergic to gluten and this was catered for brilliantly. We had the 8 course with flight of wine. Absolutely the best meal ( experience!) I have ever had. It was an expensive but absolutely worthwhile birthday treat for my wife. The staff were brilliant, put us at our ease, explained everything. I am still smiling now :) the photos dont do it justice.

If I could give more stars I would. An amazing dining experience - the food was exquisite, the wine pairing was inspired, the service was faultless, and all in a friendly and relaxed environment. A special thank you to the lovely lady at front-of-house who went over and above to hunt down our taxi when the driver couldnt find the entrance - customer service at its very best. We will definitely be going back soon and cannot recommend highly enough.

Every meal I have had at Prevost has been sublime and their move to The Haycock now places them in a beautiful setting. As the only vegan in my party, I was highly impressed at the thought and care that had gone into my meal, a set course menu full of surprises. Quite often with dietary requirements its a case of missing out whilst all others in the group get little extras. Not so here, there was a vegan option tailored to every component, even down to special petit fours! The servers were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful too. Thanks once again Lee Clarke and team, from a very happy repeat customer!

Wasnt impressed with meal..we had sandwich my egg and cress was ok but my friends was cheese and something and was very mean filling and one sandwich sent back because bread dry and they also put tip on bill which we didnt like so wont be going back. Service was slow but pleasant barman.

Being a treat from the boss, I wasn t sure what to expect from the Prevost, being a fan of a home-cooked meal, more than anything. However, it wasn t just a meal but rather an experience, with many courses featuring a pleasant surprise in terms of texture and flavour. I can t say that every single course was to my test but given there are eight courses, I wouldn t expect it to be.

Lovely atmosphere, very attentive staff and a great environment, a bit expensive but Id prefer to pay a bit more for a great night out!

Wow just wow. My husband as a surprise booked for us to visit here , away from the children for a night and we were so highly impressed. They are very sympathetic to your needs of food and their offerings are stunning. We had a lovely time and thank you to everyone for making the experience and whole evening one to remember .

This was a wonderful meal. The snacks were wonderful, each course matched with excellent wine, and the food very very good. What lifted the experience even more, each course was deliver by different chefs who cooked the courses. Very high recommendation

Wonderful food on a par with any Michelin restaurant weve visited. A separate vegetarian menu was a pleasant surprise for my wife. Well be back next time were in the area!

Excellent food and service. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times now and never been disappointed. The food is superb. Carefully used ingredients, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The 3 course lunch time taster menu is very good value

I had lunch here. It was very nice.

Definitely on their way to top awards with great tasting, well presented food. Particular favourites included the Lamb, Ox tongue and desert. The chefs bring the dishes to you and give a brief explanation of the dish which adds to the experience. The waiting staff need more experience to match the kitchen, unfortunately an empty bottle and glass remained on our table for the entire sitting. Half way through dinner, the waiting staff gave our table a clean but brushed the crumbs into my lap! However, these are minor faults that could easily be worked on. Overall, the staff were pleasant. My wife and I had 14 courses between us, beer and wine, the bill came to £150, which we felt was very good the food we recieved. Overall, I would say Lee and his team are definitely one to watch and try for yourself.

By far and away the best restaurant experience weve ever had. Unbelievable how good the food and service was, felt like lottery winners on a luxury yacht... Like masterchef with taste o vision... Definately going again

An incredible restaurant at prices only a tiny bit more than a chain. We splashed out on the 10 course taster menu for £75 (but prices start at £35). The balance of tastes, the perfection of the cooking, the presentation and the incredible service all make this something really special. Go now before it becomes like El Bulli and you have to wait 3 years to get a table.

Absolutely brilliant! Having been to my fair share of Michelin star rated restaurants I would be completely astonished if this restaurant and it s team did not receive a star very soon. Obviously the best restaurant in Peterborough and much much more than just a great local restaurant.

Good food and really patient and attentive staff who coped really well with a group of 30 people and some young kids. They kept the restaurant open for us and it was a very nice evening. Thoroughly recommend to anyone in the Peterborough area.

Delicious food beautifully presented. Attentive staff, great with dietary requirements (I ordered vegan food and this was no problem) and all for an excellent price. I will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend others do too.

Eaten here twice over the Christmas period and shall be going again shortly. I found the staff to be superb and provide a level of customer service that is hard to find in the UK. However the star was the food, superb quality, explosions of flavour and a feast for the eyes and belly. Nice to have a high quality independent restaurant in Peterborough. I recommend this place to all, I just hope people use the restaurant to ensure its success.

My third visit to Prévost and it continues to impress. How wonderful to have a restaurant of this calibre in Peterborough! Staff are attentive but unpretentious; the food is exquisite. Without a doubt the best meal we ve had! Excellent food, excellent service. We went to Pevost this lunchtime to celebrate my wife s 30th birthday. Needless to say we were not disappointed. Each course was delicious and spread out so you weren t rushing or waiting ages. We would highly recommend to anyone.

Booked dinner for my mums birthday. Party of 5 and between us we had selected the 3, 5 and 9 course menu. Food was a mix bag, some courses were quite nice some very average, expected more from a michelin starred restaurant. The courses took far too long to be served, for those that ordered the 3 course ended up having to wait 2hrs before they got their main course which is completely unacceptable. Either they tell customers beforehand how long theyre going to have to wait because someone had ordered the 9 course menu, or really expected a much faster service. Staff werent very tentative in keeping our water topped up for the table since they were placed elsewhere, so kept having to ask them to do so. But for some strange reason they were very ontop of folding the napkins everytime someone got up from the table.. Would not recommend and quite disappointed with the food.

Great food and the lunch time menu is great value. Just a shame we were given an extra bottle of expensive water we didnt want.

Great food, fantastic service and awesome wine however wish there was a little bit more food for the 5 course meal. I still felt a bit hungry at the end! The place is decorated perfectly and Id recommend anyone willing to spend splash out a bit to go!

Great food and great service. Its hard to fault Prevost for what it has brought to the city. The menus are interesting and varied, generally well balanced between flavors and, sometimes, textures. For me, the simpler dishes (if thats not unfair) are the most impressive, but thats not intended to take anything away from the full range on offer. Oh, and they make amazing breads.

To be able to view the food being prepared shows confidence in the chefs ability to produce the most beautiful presented and delicious food. Stunning cocktails, awesome service... easily the most exclusive place in town. Update May 13th 2017... We have just eaten here for the first time (we have even been many times for cocktails) and I am BLOWN AWAY. Lee and his staff have produced the most exquisite food Ive ever tasted. Every single course was out of this world. The duck was absolutely sublime. First class service, first class food. Book with total confidence that you wont find better in Cambridgeshire!

When a Michelin starred chef brings your dinner to the table himself you are in for a treat. The restaurant is small, intimate and beautiful. The music is chilled and the pottage garden provides a stunning view. The food is spectacular and the added bonus of the chefs presenting the food themselves really elevates this dining experience. It is intimate, it is relaxed, it is unique. The food is epic. Go there, if you can get a table.

Head chef/ owner, Lee Clarke, has been seasoning the Peterborough restaurant scene with his flair and creativity for a number of years but its Prevost where Lee has finally been able to create a menu and ambience exactly to his liking. The most striking thing about Prevost is the relaxed atmosphere- very different to the standard fine dining experience. Lee actively encourages noise- laughter, chatter and excitement, partnered with some of the most exquisite food make Prevost Peterboroughs most exciting dining experience.

Went for lunch and had the set lunch for less menu. The food was some of the best Ive ever had and at an excellent price (better value for 3 courses than at many chain restaurants/pubs and the quality is in a different league!). The restaurant is nicely appointed and Lee and his staff couldnt have been friendlier. I look forward to returning soon!

The atmosphere was relaxed, the service perfect and we loved that we could see the chefs cook and that they brought our food to the table with an explanation of what they had created-inspired idea. The whole experience here is exquisite. Lee and his team manage the rare feat of food of the highest quality served as a delight to the eye and wonderful to eat without being poncy or pretentious in any way. A few things you need to know before you go. This is probably the best food you will ever eat so it is not cheap. Although the lunches are much cheaper than dinners and extremely good value. You will also pay more in London for food not nearly as good. If you have any dietary requirements at all, let them know when you book. They are very helpful but cant miraculously conjure special whatever free stuff out of thin air with no notice. The 9pm time is not when you have to leave, it is the latest they will take new orders. We left last night at 11:30. You dont get a wide choice because the foods cooked from fresh ingredients that day not as many places; in a thousand frozen packets in the freezer. If you are a picky eater, check out the menu online beforehand. There is a great wine choice but Id recommend the flight of wine option. It is a glass of wine for each course specially chosen for that course. The matching is astonishingly good. The service is fantastic but not intrusive. The decor is stylish without being in your face. All in all, an experience that you will never forget. Google: wheres that sixth star?

Gorgeous space with relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and sublime food. Every course was packed with great flavours and textures. The restaurant is not vegetarian but we really felt that they provided exciting vegetarian food. And apparently the menu changes every 2 weeks so we dont have to feel like weve done the veggie options. My new favourite place to eat in Peterborough! Lovely garden and super classy interior, adorned with some of the best art in the city.

Well designed dishes with excellent wine. The dessert was my favourite - specifically the strawberry, cream, basil oil and jelly dish.

A relaxed comfortable restaurant that has served us outstanding food and drinks on a couple of occasions. The attention of Lee is excellent and a welcome part of the dining experience. The cocktails are excellent, and definitely worth getting there a bit early for. With the food both times we have been here we opted for the full experience and the menu does change every couple of weeks apparently. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience that we will certainly be repeating.
