Took elderly relatives for the Christmas menu. Service was quick and friendly but in no way rushed. Some lovely free Granary bread and butter while waiting for starters which were tasty and plentiful. Between us we had the Roast Turkey, Pan fried Cod Supreme and Beef Bourguignon Steamed Suet Pudding all were excellent. Coffee and Lemon Tart to finish. We have been before and it’s only reinforced our view that it’s the best food and value in the area. Highly recommended!
Easily became one of our favourite pubs in the area. Top marks for food, service, and atmosphere
Two stars for desserts only. Delicious and homemade, albeit expensive, especially for the area. There was also a nice wine menu, which I appreciate in a pub. However upon sitting down we discovered the chairs to be very dirty and had to brush them off and pick off a congealed oat. We were expecting live music but there wasn’t any. The ambiance was more giant chain pub than cozy village local. The hummus was tasty though disappointing with only the smallest little flatbread cut into four tiny pieces. The roasts were good, however overpriced and nothing to especially write home about. The kicker was being asked if we wanted desserts because they “needed the table” and then being asked to leave. Sure, fair, it’s Sunday and they state 90 minutes in the booking. But the table of the same size that was behind us and had already been sat down eating when we arrived was NOT asked to leave. The first server said “it’s just the way the tables are laid out.” The second serving staff posited they had been asked to leave as well, when I inquired. However we stood outside chatting for quite a while after being kicked out and that table had neither moved nor been disturbed. I have to wonder if we’d been chosen to be asked to leave because we are not British. We are, however, locals- living less than 10 minutes away in a neighboring village and only a few miles. And I can assure you we won’t be back. I recommend you to go down to the Crown Inn instead if in Elton. Or drive over to Yarwell for the Angel inn, which is not food focused but very welcoming to everyone.
We like to call in on the way through now and then as it's a lovely country pub with delicious food. The staff are friendly and always happy to accommodate. They do a selection of Bar snacks which are really nice and quite filling, if you fancy something to warm the soul I recommend the suet pudding!
We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Black Horse (12.15pm). A few niggles which stopped me from giving 5 stars but would give 4.5 if I could. Nothing major and they were dealt with well but it wasn't fault free. The biggest issue we had was the beef. Whilst 2 of our party had pork and lamb which were both very good, the other 2 had beef and it was not up to the same standard unfortunately and not as good as other places we have visited for a similar price. The rest of the meal was very good though as were the desserts and drinks. Would definitely come back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend though. Very nice Sunday afternoon atmosphere and nice place with a nice buzz.
Love the food and pub in general. Sunday roast was amazing, will be back!
I attended 3 events at Black Horse. All outdoor BBQ events. My comments are based on these functions and services. The location itself is situated in a quiet village. Good selection of foods for meat eaters and vegans. The sausages and vegan options were delicious. Love the mushroom with vegan cheese and roasted vegetables.
We went with for friends for Sunday Lunch and it was excellent. Thoroughly recommended. This is a friendly busy pub with good atmosphere and good food. We all had roast dinners - beef, pork and lamb were available. They were large portions and delicious. Some of us also had desserts, also excellent. But the most stand-out feature was the serving team. They were excellent. Friendly, attentive and efficient. We were well looked after and didn’t have to wait at any time despite it being a busy lunchtime service.
My Bestfriend and Myself was invited to Firms Family and Friends get together and Party with lots of Food and Drink. It was held on Saturday 7th July 2024. There were lots of people there, Great Atmosphere. Excellent Food. The Food and Beverage Servers were Superb. Very Warm Welcome and made You feel really Good and very Happy all day. The Black Horse pub/Hotel is a Must go and visit and try out. I Highly Recommend if You want that Special old English Pub, buy with a modern twist and Beautiful surroundings. Very Well Done to the Black Horse for making our day Great. A very Delighted Chris and Jonathan.
Great food and good service. Booking essential at Xmas.
Excellent service lovely atmosphere had a great time deffently go again!
Fantastic food, great pub, highly recommended!! Book if youre going on Sunday though!
We held a 40th birthday meal in the upstairs room. Staff were excellent, reacted to all requests with a smile. Food was served hot, all very tasty. All staff were very friendly and helpful, would highly recommend A*
Bloody good food but expensive...
Very nice food
We had a wonderful lunch at the Black Horse. The food was perfect, the service was excellent. The staff couldnt do enough for us knowing one person in our party was a wheelchair user. We ate overlooking the old jail. Google Harry Kirk for more. Fascinating history. Throughly recommend a visit. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair friendly
Superb service, lovely surroundings and great food
Didnt eat so cannot rate the food but if its as good as it used to be probably 4 or 5.
Fantastic place for food and drink, food was served hot as we sat in the child safe garden. Would recommend the steak as it is cooked to perfection. Parking: On opposite side on road is car park for free Kid-friendliness: Large grass area for kids to run around. Wheelchair accessibility: Two levels with Ramp and steps
What a great place for Sunday lunch, the service was excellent. There was plenty of food on the plate it was well cooked and very tasty the only thing I didnt like was the cauliflower cheese and this was served in a separate dish which was lucky for me. I would certainly recommend eating here, but you will need to book especially on a Sunday.
Sunday lunch fail. Veg either undercooked or overcooked. Lukewarm. Roast potatoes soggy, yorkie chewie. How do you get cauliflower cheese wrong? Very underwhelming food. We joked about Toby carvery on the way but Toby wins easily versus this cold, chewy, soggy roast. Its a roast dinner should not be complicated.
Super
Nice ambiance. Great food and service at a reasonable cost. I enjoyed a great Sunday dinner with a friend.
Great food pleasant staff lots of vegan options
not cheap, but quality pub with gourmet food, defo not the fried wetherspoon stuff
Great on a Sunday afternoon with music and the bbq.
Excellent venue. Lovely beer garden
So, I popped over to this spot on Sunday with a few mates, as it came highly recommended. There was quite a queue to get one of their so-called burger deals, which cost over £11 and included chips and a rather uninspiring salad. My expectations werent particularly high after spotting the fairly average-sized burger for that price. However, what really put me off was when the chap preparing it handled the bun rather roughly (without any gloves, mind you), slapped it onto a paper plate, and tossed on a few lacklustre chips. The burger itself was mediocre at best and far too pricey for what it was. That said, the setting was nice, and the live band was actually rather impressive.
Excellent beer garden! We missed the band on Sunday but will be back for more soon!
Great food, expensive but worth it.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere, staff friendly ,food is delicious. This is a wonderful place to visit. Great garden for the children to play in. We were lucky enough to go when there was music on the patio in the afternoon. Check out their venue list online. I attended my granddaughter birthday party here. Parking: Parking opposite the pub and street parking. Also an event parking in a field just a 2 minutes walk away. Kid-friendliness: Large garden for children to play in. Kick a football around and have fun.
We spent a beautiful afternoon here for a wedding reception. Staff very friendly and a lovely atmosphere, great space for the kids to play outdoors. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian and vegan options, chef can alter menu if required.
Great food, Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Were not from the area, but were lucky enough to time this place from a quick Google search. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel comfortable, the staff were happy and very polite. The waiting staff were knowledgeable on the menu and able to offer an opinion when asked, as well as very friendly and happy to engage in a bit of conversation and even a little banter. The menu had a great variety and not just pub grub. I had the lamb curry and my friend had the steak, both were perfectly cooked and presented and could not be considered ordinary. My son is quite difficult when it comes to food, but the staff were so helpful in assisting in managing this and ensuring he had what he needed. Thank you for a great dining experance. When Im back in the area I will definitely go back.
Lovely atmosphere, really good food. Highly recommended the squid starter and especially the prawn main course absobloominutely yummy.
The Black Horse is our reliable go-to whenever we have guests. The food is always fantastic, the staff are lovely, and the place is always bright and clean. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly and have high chairs available.
Loved the food, staff very pleasant and very helpful. 10 out of 10. However, the inside of the restaurant really needs a revamp! A good interior designer could work a miracle as it is bland and uninteresting. Shame, as its a lovely building and staff are lovely.
What a find. We are a family of 9 from various parts of the country meeting up for a few days. We enjoyed our evening meal so much that we went back the next day for lunch. The staff were super friendly and helpful. All except Jake the assistant manager who was rude and obnoxious. PLEASE KEEP READING. I am only joking so he remembers who this post is from. He is a credit to his profession and exactly the right person for this quality of establishment. I would highly recommend the Black Horse if you want high quality food and service at sensible prices! Well done to you all. John & Suzie Grantham Solihull Dietary restrictions: Staff take great care in checking for any food allergies or intolerance
Great dining experience, incredible service and food. Would highly recommend Jenny and Jake were phenomenal
I tend to wander up here every so often for a relaxing drink outside main serving times. It can get busy especially at the weekends if there is a function on or one of the summer bbq and music events. I regularly eat here and can recommend both the menu and the service. Parking can be a bit of a pain at busy times although there is an overflow car park in a field just a short walk away. Overall an excellent village pub and restaurant and well worth a visit.
Great pub, lovely menu and food.
Stopped here on way through last week for a quick drink.. Good service and pleasant atmosphere. Will be back again soon.
First time at the black horse and we had a really nice time in fantastic surroundings good service great food and a friendly atmosphere we will be back
First time have been there and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely go there again.
I spent lovely time with my wife at some evening when went out for a date night Lovely place, food, service and personnel! Will definitely return again and again.. Food : 5/5
My daughter had her wedding here was absolutely amazing Mark and his team were brilliant from start to finish . Food was amazing a beautiful venue for photos . Thank you
Went on Saturday for food, it was amazing. Every course was just delicious and great service. 5 Stars
Fantastic food, fantastic service.
What an amazing place. Lovely Fathers Day meal inside but they have a great set up outside too which was also full of families eating. Good value
Food was nice but my fish and chips had only a few chips. When I asked for a few more I was told by a supervisor this was a standard portion and would I like another portion. Considering it was £19 odd for the meal I feel it was the wrong attitude to attempt to charge me for more chips. As soon as we stopped eating they came to clear the table and it felt like stay and have desert or go. The service was perfunctory. There was no warmth or friendliness. I wont go there again. Not recommended.
4 of us went for a meal here, 3 out of the 4 meals were really nice, I enjoyed mine. My wife had the scampi, her chips were hard, to the extent she couldnt eat them and her peas were like bullets. Shame really, as everything else was excellent. Food
Lovely restaurant, outdoor area is wonderful.
Excellent food and service. Clean and inviting establishment highly recommended
Very pleasant country pub... menu is in part quite adventurous and in part pub classic food. Adequate wine list. Cask ales well kept. Good youthful service Highly dog friendly. Wheelchair access good. Food
THE FOOD IS GREAT, THE STAFF VERY FRIENDLY, AND ATTENTIVE, NOTHING IS TO MUCH TROUBLE FOR THEM. BIG WALL IN LAWN AREA FOR KIDS TO PLAY IN. A VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY PUB/RESTAURANT. HAVE UESD A FEW TIMES NOW, AND WILL CONTINUE TO USE. VERY EASY TO BOOK YOUR TABLE ON LINE, YOU RECIEVE A EMAIL WITH CONFIRMATION
Very friendly welcome. Great local pint & amazing food - best in the Peterborough area.
Has a group dinner in the hunters room upstairs. Good pub food. Nice staff. Parking: The parking is on the opposite side of the road. Plenty of space
Lovely food as always. Service was excellent
Highly Recommended: We booked a table for 6pm using the web page. Very simple and I got a confirmation message to know it was all done right. Arrived a little early and chatted to the the people at the bar, all very friendly. Our friend arrived and we were taken through to our table. We were asked for drinks, and given the menus. A short time later the orders were taken and the meals took 15-20 minutes. We ordered Hake, chicken supreme, battered king prawns and beef suet pudding. All of the food was lovely, very tasty and fresh. For desert it was apple & plumb crumble and Jam sponge, again very nice. The plus was the food, staff and atmosphere were great. The prices arent cheap, but it is great value. The only negative was that the hake was small but fortunately, the jam sponge filled up the gap. We will definitely return for special occasions, or if we are flush. ££ Keep up the great work. Dietary restrictions: The waitress asked several times if there were any allergies as one of our party doesnt eat meat with a hoof . The waitress overheard us saying there was a good selection for our guest, and checked to ensure the menu was ok. A nice touch.
Always nice
It was a very cold chilly day we stopped for lunch service was excellent food very acceptable. Great views would be superb in the summer.
Reminded the table needs to be vacated in 2 hours as booked out again before we had a chance to sit down. We asked for bread but not received. Missed off the order. Roast meals okay. Room was cold.
Sunday lunch; worst cauliflower and broccoli cheese I have ever eaten. One floret of each between two. Not in a sauce, but very likely frozen florets with cheese on top and microwaved, so a watery residue at the bottom of the dish with a little melted cheese. Rest of the meal was OK, but not brilliant. Even though we went early, not all the deserts were available. Very disappointing.
One of my favourite places for food. Jake is outstanding as front of house, granted hes my son but dine there and see for yourself.
Loved the food and service. Friends took us out to celebrate my hubbys upcoming milestone Birthday and the food was amazing. Loved it cant wait to go back. Parking: Parking is free but very limited. Best get someone to drop you off.
Sunday lunch for 6 of us, very nice.
Went for a Sunday roast was really disappointing food. Bland and a very watery cauliflower cheese. Friendly staff
Great food friendly people
3rd visit in short space of time, think that says it all !
Had a posh fish fingers ciabatta for lunch catching up with a friend. Was tasty & served with salad & coleslaw
Visited Christmas Eve. Fantastic food and exceptional service throughout. Jake was brilliant. A real credit to the business. Thank you!
Called in as was in the area and despite the restaurant being full, a table was set for us straight away. Every member of staff we spoke to was friendly, helpful and attentive. Food was exceptionally good.
Some dishes were not served with correct accompaniments, nice pickled cucumber,no raspberry ripple ice cream. Triple cheesecake was very disappointing.
Always exemplary service at The Black Horse. Only eaten here once in the summer for a bowl of soup which was served with lovely fresh bread. The soup was really good too. Popped in a few times for a coffee or a swift pint and have been accommodated faultlessly. Im hoping to visit again one evening soon and try out their main menu.
Food was good but a little pricey so this is definitely a pub for a special gathering etc.. For 2 burgers 2 drinks 1 dessert and a kids meal it came to around £55. Staff were excellent super friendly and welcoming. The food was served quickly but a nice added touch whilst you were waiting for food to come out was a bread board to keep hunger at bay! All in all we would visit again but probably only for family birthdays etc. I will also mention that booking ahead is a must as it was very busy and popular amongst local residents and people coming futher afield.
Good food, lovely service, my husbands 75th birthday and everyone was happy
We always stop in Elton whenever we go to London as its half way for us and much more attractive and interesting than a service station. Its a beautiful village with nice surrounding countryside. The Black Horse is a characterful pub with good range of food cooked to a high quality. I had the steak with peppercorn sauce and it was delicious.
Sunday lunch was great, friendly atmosphere and helpful staff, very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a try.
What a lovely pub the staff are friendly great service and great food will definitely be going back, highly recommended.
So good we went back 2 days later. Atmosphere, food and staff were fantastic.
Wow what a place, the staff were friendly fast and efficient. We were in and out in an hour which really suited us. Only downside is its slightly expensive, but what isnt currently.
had a sunday lunch here ...the food was really nice , good portion sizes ..well worth the £17 ...would definitely eat here again thankyou
Excellent meal with good service
Super Sunday Roast
From start to finish it was a great experience. The atmosphere and appearance was good. Service from both Bar and Table was great, polite helpful waitresses. Good selection of drinks. Food (mushroom pasta) delicious good portion size that left just enough room for a pudding (sticky toffee) again a good portion size with a prefect amount of sauce
Lovely place with very friendly staff and the food was so tasty, good size portions too.
A fantastic Sunday lunch, everything was fresh, beautifully cooked meat and good crispy Yorkshire puddings. Would definitely recommend.
We went there for a friends farewell party. Although it was a cold evening it was held in the marquee in the garden, the marquee was very nicely decorated and not cold at all. Bucks fizz and canopies to start the evening and these were delicious. Later in the evening was a buffet which was Thai green curry with rice and Chilli with rice or potato wedges which were really nice and very plentiful and you could have extras as there was more than enough
Lovely rural pub for a hearty lunch. The vegetarian and vegan options were bountiful and the staff were attentive. A good spot to stop off from the A1(M)
We booked here for the first time for a family birthday meal. We had heard great reviews, and we were not disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly, and our table was ready, even though we had arrived early. All of the staff were fantastic & very professional. The atmosphere was great, the food & drink was delicious and brought out without a long wait. Everyone enjoyed their meal with no complaints. The menu caters for everyone, and the childrens menu had vegetarian options too, which suited the youngest member of our party. I had the leek, brie & wild mushroom tagliatelle for main, and it was beautiful. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend paying a visit here. Thank you to all of the staff involved in making our visit so enjoyable.
Delicious food, friendly staff, and well worth a visit! The Sunday roast was delicious
The food is very over priced for the quality, very disappointing as i didnt enjoy it at all and my friends had similar reviews, i would expect much better for the cost!
Lovely food nice atmosphere
Was shut at 2pm
Lovely welcome, gorgeous pub, fabulous food. Thank you
Visited with our friends for lunch, sat outside as we had two dogs with us, ordered whitebait and fried chicken for starters and bangers & mash and king prawns for the main and we both enjoyed it. Only thing I would say is frozen cocktails would be good in the sunnier weather!
The best Sunday lunch I ve ever had! Great service and a lovely pub - highly recommended!
My family and I had Sunday lunch at The Black Horse yesterday. The welcome was warm, the pub is very clean and bright and the surroundings are very pleasant. The food was excellent 10/10 cooked to perfection with quick service. We drove nearly 100 miles to have lunch at this pub! I would happily drive it again for the same experience! Keep doing what you do!
We called in whilst visiting the area and what a gem it is. Warm and friendly staff backed up by scrumptious, well cooked food and best if all theyre friendly. We are visiting the area in the summer so we will definitely be booking a table.
Fantastic place to eat, always good food when I go here. Very welcoming staff too. Very recommended.
Myself and a group of 4 friends booked the black horse on the day for an evening meal. The staff were so accommodating and friendly and managed to fit us in at short notice. We were seated in the function room upstairs along with the snug for drinks after our meal. Everything exceeded our expectations. Everyone loved their meal. Cant wait to visit again when were in the area. Thank you all.
Meal. Staff. Service was amazing. Staff were amazing from the moment I called to book to the moment we left. 100% recommend party of 5 that booked in last minute and they managed to squeeze us in. Although it felt like we received top service and special treatment xxx
Very tasty food, great menu, 4 of us few drinks top notch food great service at a good price, all staff friendly and great service
Beautiful food. Friendly staff. Would definitely go back again.
Staff didnt understand what vegan and gluten free is or the importance
Went for birthday meal very good food
Excellent service, lovely staff who are very attentive, good menu and food impressive but had to knock a star off as my wifes duck wasnt perfect, skin should be crispy and there was sinew running through it so inedible, told the waiter who said hed feed it back the chef, maybe should have knocked something of the bill but it wasnt mentioned, it hasnt put us off going again but maybe avoid the duck.
Good service and friendly staff. The open area at the back is fantastic
Great countryside location, excellent staff and the food really really good! Will be back very soon. How did I miss this for years! Compliments to the Chef, staff and owners
Yummy Sunday toast, really tasty. The staff is very friendly and professional.
Absolutely a brilliant place amazing staff fantastic food great atmosphere never had anything of menu thats wasnt brilliant Parking: Lots of parking car park across the road and some on street
What a lovely find, great pub, good atmosphere, good food, really helpful and friendly, very dog friendly too
Only had drinks but pub was very busy and staff were very helpful
Stopped here on a bike ride. Sat outside in the beer garden and have a beer and a chicken ciabatta with chips. Service was friendly and quick. Food tasted good. Will stop here again.
Was there with a larger group but food was excellent
First visit and definitely wont be our last. Food was delicious, staff were so friendly and it was so lovely to not feel rushed, and to be able to enjoy our meal at our leisure.
Amazing pub amazing food and the staff are even better, must see pub
We went to this pub today , after visiting Elton hall . ( which was amazing ) It was around 4pm so was not too busy . The staff were exemplary , so warm and friendly . The food we had was amazing . Obviously freshly cooked , and a great vegetarian selection , so we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals . When the puddings arrived , the main waitress , went out of her way to put a candle and a happy birthday tag in mine , which was a really lovely touch . It just ended a perfect Birthday ., the pudding was by far the best treacle sponge and custard I had ever tasted !! I would highly recommend this establishment , and would like to thank the lovely waitress who made my visit so very special
Lovely venue, amazing garden, helpful staff and the food is ace too! Theyve booked our live music services several times for events throughout the summer and the vibe in the garden has been amazing and very well attended. Weve also played a wedding here last year with our band. The team were great to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly!
Welcoming, and helpful staff in a busy pub/restaurant. Food was delicious and loved the little extras that made a difference, like the pineapple chutney with the gammon. Attention given by the staff was just right after we were seated and throughout our meal. We will return! Parking: Parking area across the road from the pub.
We only stayed in the area for the night and this pub was recommended...wish I lived near cause would be coming back on a regular basis staff are a credit to this establishment so helpful and friendly...the menu had a great choice the starter was like a main meal huge portions for starter, mains and desserts excellent well worth a visit.
Very pretty garden
A delightful pub with lovely staff, a sensibly priced and varied menu, and plenty of space. What a gem of a place!
Great pub with a cracking outside space and bar. Good for hosting events in the Marquee
We had wine with starters/tapas which was amazing and delicious highly recommend and fantastic chips too.
Wow. We got luck. Driving past we stopped for lunch. Truly delicious. I had the chicken and bacon sald with Satsy sauce which was amazing.
First class all round highly recommend Kid-friendliness: Large outdoor area with plenty of room to run about Food : 5/5 |
Was there for a private function, staff where friendly and attentive, food was good and a Rearlly nice pub hope to go back when theres better weather to enjoy the outside space.
Steak was tough.
Literally a flying visit but excellent welcome by the Team on duty .definitely going back for a proper try out ..
First visit to The Black Horse in Elton. Staff wonderfully patient after moving table twice after being hounded by a wasp. Food was beautiful. Portions were large and I couldnt eat it all. Prices very reasonable. Pub was situated in a lovely, quiet little village. Will definitely go back and would highly recommend. Oh, and had a very good choice for gluten free options.
Went to a wedding here today. The staff are so good, and attending to the guests. Excellent service
No a bad place. Wish we could of sat in restaurant and not bar but the food was OK. I think more of a drinking establishment more than food. Been but maybe not return.
The Black Horse Pub by Elton Hall FANTASTIC! SO DELICIOUS! My husband had the lamb sunday roast. I stole several tastes from his plate because he was constantly moaning about how scrumptious it was. Hes not wrong! The lamb sunday roast was like butter! Loved the savory red cabbage. I had the roasted aubergine coconut curry. I managed to get a photo of my lunch but my husband was practically inhaling his meal so no photo. Sorry. We were too full to try any desserts so weve made a pact to come back JUST for dessert. It was that yummy that well make a special trip to come back. We stopped because we were visiting Elton Hall. More on that later.
Lovely venue for lunch with friends.9 Parking: Opposite Food : 4/5 |
Perfect family stop,
A real pub. Pool table, Jukebox, TV to show football. Simply a local boozer.
Lovely weekday lunch for two. Great quality food, with marvellous gluten free options. Got a table for 2 without reservation. Only downside is that parking can be tricky when busy - we had to park roadside, a few hundred metres away. Good choice if transiting the A1, as only a couple of miles from Peterborough Services. Dietary restrictions: Excellent place to eat if you require gluten free options; menus clearly marked; good choice; high quality; knowledgeable staff.
Good food served quickly,a good range of ales
An incredible find. Fantastic pub, awesome food, lovely staff.
Lovely Sunday roast dinner, Huge Yorkshire puddings, lots of tasty vegetables and the meat was amazing (we had sirloin beef, there was lamb and pork too) Staff were great, friendly and very helpful with the food allergies. Looking forward to returning to try the rest of the menu. Dietary restrictions: Menu clearly states where there are Gluten Free dishes and Gluten Free Options Parking: Free parking on the street outside and a small fee lot opposite. Can get busy but you can normally find a spot very close by.
This is the second time I ve been here for a works event and can t fault it. Good service and excellent food use of the outside bar and marquee.
Lovely meal - both the fish and chips and the fish ciabatta absolutely delicious.
Very polite staff went above and beyond with excellent service food was amazing and even when my husband knocked his beer over the table. They moved us to another free table replaced the beer for him and made the transition relaxed for us with two small children. The food was delicious and the children had half portion roast each they both done really well. My son was amazed at the size of the Yorkshires
Great food and in the majority of cases you will get what you paid for. However I ordered the Sirloin steak but was given a Rump. Despite the kitchen being adamant it was a Sirloin I was given a free dessert. But cosy atmosphere, lots of food and drinks choices from the menu. Car park opposite and overspill just a little further. Overall I would visit again
Very good...would recommend fully
This place was awesome with the food, drinks, and very nice atmosphere. However, we went back on a Sunday and was literally yelled at that they were taking no more walk-ins and that they dont do takeaway. We were there an hour and a half before closing on a Sunday and understood the reason, but felt that we didnt need to be yelled at that they could not accommodate us at that particular time and that they dont do take away. We left very sad and somewhat upset. More than likely, I will not recommend going here, especially on a Sunday with a booking in advance.
Three of us came out for a meal last night and every one of us had fantastic food. Highly recommend the Beef Bourginion Suet Pudding, it was amazing. Great food and lots of it.
The food was superb. Would recommend the Suet pudding. Everything was brilliant Kid-friendliness: Very good childrens menu. The cookie and ice cream is massive. 2 kids could probably share! Food : 5/5 |
Very disappointed. Visited for lunch with kids during half term. Service and staff was friendly but food was not up to previously experienced standard. Kids food very poor quality despite increased prices and battered. Food felt like it came from kitchen that couldn t be bothered. This was supposed to be a half term treat for family but turned out to be expensive disappointment. One kids starter was taken off bill. Will be cancelling future group booking in December and would not return.
Im sure it a very good restaurant but not a pub anymore. Dont think Ive ever been to a pub where they dont have any snacks, crisps or nuts or anything, shame.
Enjoyed our meals last night. Tasty food.
Excellent experience and superb hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed our night here. Dietary restrictions: Provided Gluten free with no fuss or bother. Lovely to be so well looked after Food : 5/5 |
Our 3rd year running for the team Christmas lunch. Absolutely spot on as always See you next year Food : 5/5
Good vegetarian choices. Lovely bar and waiting staff.
Wow honestly one of the best roasts I ve had in ages, really worth the visit, highly recommend! The lamb and beef were very tender and well worth the price. Potato crust was slightly harder than expected but I enjoyed the corguettes and cauliflower cheese There is free parking just opposite the restaurant and definitely a recommend if you re near the area
Really tasty food. I had the hake on an olive potato Ragu..and sticky toffee pudding was . A really helpful bunch of young staff. And although busy you could hear yourself speak
A vibrant pub that looked popular with locals for a drink and visitors from further afield for a meal. Food was all great: well presented, well cooked, served hot and well proportioned (very well proportioned puds...the jam sponge pudding was HUGE!). Staff were great. Quite a young bunch but all attentive and enthusiastic; no disinterested teens just there for the payslip. Would happily return. Parking: We missed the car park in the dark; its on the opposite side of the road from the main front door.
Excellent meal and personal service. Well done...!!
Visiting friends in the area and went for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and the service top notch. Highly recommended.
Lovely food and great customer service! Thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you
Great place to sit outside. They do a great BBQ option on a Sunday. Dogs welcome.
Great service and spacious garden.
Only popped in for a drink to see if its improved since our last visit a couple of years ago and we were not disappointed, The bar and dining room are nicely furnished, bright and comfortable. The outside space is fantastic. We checked out the menu, saw some of the meals being brought out and decided we will return for a meal in the near future.
Nice location, good food
Amazing food at a great price
Fantastic Sunday Roast. No pork so went for the leg of lamb and it was huge and delicious.
Great place for Sunday lunch. We sat in the garden and enjoyed live music as well.
Sunday Lunch ok very average, just a suggestion gravy flooded the plate, would be good to have a gravy boat or less on plate and customer can ask for more. Big issues with wasps inside and out. Pub needs a really good deep clean, carpets are filthy and cobwebs everywhere with dead wasps in. A carpet cleaner could do wonders as it s gorgeous pub. Also no one asking to replenish drinks so your losing a fortune there!
The whole experience was welcoming and the service was very good. The roast dinner was excellent and the overall atmosphere was pleasant staff were all helpful, polite and provided a very good service. I like the fact this place is dog friendly, while we didn t bring our dog on this occasion it looks great if you want to just have a drink or even sit outside with your pooch All fantastic! Thank you
We had a late lunch here. The staff were really helpful, friendly and welcoming. The pub had a warm autumnal atmosphere and had a constant flow of customers. The food was excellent and along with the drinks great value for money.
Always a pleasure to eat and drink here. The staff are brilliant and a cannot do enough to help you. Gorgeous food in a wonderful location. Worth a visit or ten!!
Always reliable, friendly staff, good food and beer, and dog friendly
Five star is being given due too the girl behind the bar .!:she was amazing! The meal its self was average but it wad the staff that made it great!!! We had a brie starter amazing but the main was not great! ( brie and mushroom tagliatelle ) i would avoid if possible! But the staff the young 18 year old that served us was utterly fantastic what a credit too your team! I will be back as i have had previous good meals but tonight was a let down!
