My family loves this place! Food is always fresh, tasty and hot when delivered to the table. They aim to please their customers! We have always dined in.

Don t be fooled. This is not gas station food. It s a restaurant worthy of 5-stars. It was so delicious, and the service was great. Everyone enjoyed their unique order. The servings were very generous. They have a wide variety of dishes from around the globe. My family and I would definitely return. I highly recommend it. It s even great for date night or a family get together.

One day after work decided to have a quick lunch here. Although, the oven was broken, ordered a Mediterranean salad and It was really yummy! Finished with a piece of chocolate banana cake. Totally recommend this place to anyone, for quantity and quality. And Sandy my waitress was very friendly.

Have only had breakfast here so far: Home fries? Nailed it. Eggs, bacon, and other meat? Perfect. Toast? .... asked for rye and got white. I guess we cant alllll be perfect. Menu didnt mention the home fries, fried red and green peppers, and fried onions that came with the meal. Menu has many other things I want to try. Sweet (psycho) Sue ftw!

First visit for lunch. Ordered 1 breakfast 2 lunch items. All meals were prepared perfectly and the portions were ample. I had the butter chicken routine and the flavour of the dish,well it was delicious.

First time trying this little spot. And what a great breakfast spot. Coffe was great, food was bang on and the price was right! If you re looking for an all around great place to eat definitely this is a place to check out ! Parking: Tons of parking!

Fabulous little spot. Stopped in for lunch and had the chicken tandoori wrap. Absolutely delicious and a very generous portion.

Service was slow, the cook didn t have a hair net on and when I got my eggs there was a black hair cooked right into the yoke. They still made me pay full price for a meal I didn t eat because of the black hair. What a horrible first experience we will never go back again

Had breakfast. Sunny-side up eggs werent cooked enough (whites were still runny), bacon looked like it was cooked the day before but the potatoes were OK. Waitress never returned to ask about the meal or pour another coffee. TV on the wall with news on kept buffering. Will not return.

Delicious pasta good price

Went to Chef Basel for breakfast yesterday, the coffee tasted like dirty water not even close to coffee. Our food took 30 minutes to come out and when it did the eggs were cold, the potatoes tasted burnt, the toast wasn t even toasted on both sides or buttered. The server came over we ordered a different drink and told her the coffee tasted bad she smiled and walked away. We got our food with all the above issues and only one person ate the food told the waiter about the issue. Sat there nobody came over, no apology. Go to cash out and saw the lady telling manager behind counter she came over and gave bill for $91 and said hope you enjoyed your meals, come again

We went in around lunch, 2/3rds of the restaurant where sat and most had food. We ordered standard brunch sandwiches which take 10-15 mins to make, but waited for 45 minutes before asking to get our food to go because there was no good excuse for such a long wait time - food still didnt come out for another ten minutes. Service was nice but the kitchen seems poorly managed.

Stopped while travelling for breakfast and the food was fantastic as were the prices!! The service was also great! We will be back for sure!

Update: forgot to actually write words lol, 5* all around and have gone back for multiple days of the early bird special breakfast and my parents have gone even more than I have and done lunch and theyre always soo happy with the service and food here! HUGE portions, they usually split something because its too much if they dont. GO HUNGRY, YOULL ENJOY IT!

Ordered from skip the dishes. The red curry leaked all inside the bags. The chicken souvlaki box was smashed and hardly any chicken. At least it tasted ok but probably wont order here again based on portions and prices.

Ordered a medium rare steak, mashed, chefs medley of vegetables and a beautiful brandy based sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection, vegetables freshly cut and cooked exactly the way I like them. Paired with a nice red wine. Delicious.

Saw the owner do a very good deed. Chef Basal seems like a wonderful man.

This place (which I used to adore) constantly tells me they are out of whatever I order. In calling; I expressed this and the lady told me I always change my order. She is right- I do modify my order. It was then expressed that because I ask for extra sauce this order could not be completed. I mention I am happy to pay for a second order of what (just to pay for extra sauce) I got. I thought that was fair- actually more than fair by twenty dollars. She went on to say I gave them a one star rating previously- which I did as I got a hair in my food- So apparently she could not even listen to my issue this time and they should not care, and hung up. What I got out of the conversation is I m being judged or treated rudely for a mistake they made. She seemed prejudice and ignorant. I love the pasta from this place- truly I love this place. In terms of how people are treated- I m disappointed. I can respect good food. I will not tolerate rude service.

The butter chicken was very good. While Im not Indian I eat butter chicken quite often at different restaurants. This restaurant made it very well - tasty but not too spicy. The garlic Naan was very wood as well. *** Ammendment *** My kids both had pizzas - 1 Amore (meat lovers) and 1 BBQ Chicken -- and they were quite large, both had left overs, which I ate this evening. Both pizza flavours were delicious, even as left overs and Id highly recommend them as well.

Great little hidden gem. Very friendly staff with a large variety to choose from including breakfast all day. Food was delicious and our server was fantastic. Had a little birthday lunch here with my mom and aunt and son - HIGHLY recommend!! The menu selection is amazing - the food was delicious, hot, and big servings! We had chicken tenders with fries and slaw, bacon burger with salad, fish and chips, Caesar wrap and fries - everything was just great! The prices are very fair - great value. Our server was FANTASTIC - we had to bug her a lot, and she was sooooo sweet and kind!! Will be returning to Chef Basels soon!! Parking: Lots of parking

We really enjoy our time there. I have had many different dishes there, and have loved them all. Not sure what he puts in his breakfast potatoes but the are delicious!

Very underwhelming. Worst service ever (wasnt Susan). Didnt offer drinks, had to flag her down and ask. No drink menu either. Also had to ask for glasses. Very slow service as well (there were only 2 tables). Three at our table and all three meals were over cooked. The restaurant is freezing. Im pretty sure my feet were numb by the time we left. Oh, and you can smell the washroom while you are eating.

This place is truly unassuming. It was the best food ever! Our party got chicken parmesan, butter chicken, pad ti, a kids pizza (massive!) And kids chicken fingers. We were all extremely impressed with the service, prompt food and below average prices. The portions were also very large. We had a chef eating with us and they were through the roof happy with their butter chicken. I would recommend Chef Basel to anyone. Will be returning here on the regular.

Amazing food with great portions at a very reasonable price. Its one of the few places my house of 5 has been able to leave for under $100. Parking: Its a very big lot, meant for tractor trailers to pull in and out with ease, so keep that in mind when parking, but also means theres loads of space along the edges of the lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair parking is directly next to the door, and there arent any stairs to get in either.

I had read about this restaurant in A Taste of the Kawarthas. Tried it and had a great breakfast! The waitress was a pleasure also.

18 of us are in town for a basketball game. The restaurant was recommended to us by a local. We like to support small, local businesses when and where possible. And we couldn t be happier. The restaurant is ran by a family, I believe it was the father (Chef Basel), the mother and their 2 daughters. Food was great, portions were great, prices even greater. The menu covered a wide variety of cuisines. All 18 meals came out pretty much at the same time, all of them still hot and fresh. Honestly, we didn t know what to expect, but not 1 person was disappointed. We have decided this will be our restaurant when we are in town. We are back in 2 weeks and we have already decided where we are eating. Thank you Chef and family. See you again soon.

Little diamond in the rough. Found them just a few months ago and was blown away. Have had several meals since then and all are unbelievable. Notable favorites are the fish tacos (way bigger portion than an app, can be a whole meal) Philly steak sandwich, fish and chips and the pulled pork. Fries are great and the salad is wonderful with their homemade dressing. Breakfast is good too

Chef Basel Cuisine had very reasonable prices, large portions, a large menu and very attentive, friendly staff. Chef Basel is a very personable, proficient chef. We came as a group of 25. We could order from the full menu and when served, the meals were served out to the entire group in about 10 mins. I definitely recommend them.

The portions were large and the quality of food is VERY good. Our take-out order was ready quickly, we didn t have to wait long. Would come again if we stop in the area!

In my opinion, best food in Peterborough. Huge portions, great food, friendly service. We had Amore pizza, pad Thai, and Greek salad. All were awesome, could ve fed a small army and price was good. Will definitely be back.

We needed to stop for lunch and the massive menu was daunting but we were pleasantly surprised by the massive platefuls and low prices. The steak wrap was so delicious I almost cried. I will definitely be recommending this little slice of heaven, and I will be back.

Went for brunch on a whim. Prices seemed very reasonable until we saw the portions... reasonable is an understatement! They had Crab Benedict on special, and its the first time I had trouble finishing breakfast. Crab cakes were delicious, and the service was some of the best Ive experienced. Hidden gem!

This was a surprising hole in the wall restaurant! I had an amazing experience there, the food was made fresh and was packed with flavour. The menu had a great variety of options, definitely something for everyone! Our server was also lovely. Also, the chicken and beef is halal, which was awesome to learn!

Chef Basel is an amazing chef! He and his wife own/operate the restaurant. Menu meets all needs, D and I did a late breakfast, D had Mac n cheese, I did what I thought was a regular breakfast. The chef knows how to cook!! Exceptional poached eggs, truly perfect, the crispy potatoes actually melt in your mouth (is that possible?) 4 slices of ham and fresh fruit. Of course I did manage to eat the toast with the 3rd cup of coffee. Chef B we will be back! D loved her mac n cheese. Thanks so much youre amazing. (March 2022) In on the weekend, breakfast still great!! Had a board meeting at Greenwood United Church and popped in for an early supper ... D loved her pasta and I had Yorkshire Pudding with beef and veggies ... truly amazing Chef B! Great food and terrific service as well as reasonable prices!! (May 2022) We keep bringing friends, Sunday after church is a perfect place and a lovely time! (Sept 2022) Great place to meet old friends and new at Chef Basels. A lovely breakfast after Sunday church service. (Dec 2022) D and I just had a simple breakfast sandwich ... it was delightful and sufficient. Sue provided lovely service as well. This place is a hidden gem. A wide menu with generous portions. Food quality is excellent. A favourite for locals.

Sue, (our waitress) was great at navigating us through their large menu. Chef Basel is amassing, a true culinary genius. My bother ordered the yorkshire,beef and gravy meal after seeing it at the table across from us. When Sue brought my Bacon-Bacon Burger, tables around us said Wow. My eggs were over med not over easy .l ask for home fries to be over cooked and hard and also meat was on my plate ask not to have any meat on my plate as l dont eat meat so she took the meat off my plate and give me the same eggs and plate .l didnt eat any of it was still charge the full price

Friendly service, tasty fresh well layed out food, reasonably priced. If you arrive b4 10am for dine in the continental breakfast is offered at a reduced price $7.99. The owner Basel his wife and one waitress are courteous, helpful easy to approach and talk with regarding any of the dishes offered or anything in general. For me its a pleasant quiet place to get a healthy nutritious start to the day. Consider trying it. Stop in and enjoy!

Chef Basil and his wife Shandi are the most gracious hosts any one could ask for. The new book like menu is most impressive. There is something for all here. The quantity, and quality at REASONABLE PRICES defy expectations. The hot hamburger sandwich I ordered had to be 2 inches thick. The outside had a thin crust, the inside perfectly cooked. HEAVEN ON EARTH!!!!!!!! PS The fries were both wonderful and most plentiful.

Ordered chicken parm takeout. Got home and opened the container to the wafting smell of rotten food it was obviously spoiled. Had to throw it out.

Not having ever written a review I hesitate to share this but what I ve experienced of the offerings at chef Basel I had to make sure everyone who can will notice and keep growing this incredible service-the steak with vegetables dinner would rival and defeat any and all it is BBQ grilled and the potatoes and fresh vegetables I have sincerely never had a finer meal and that was take out! Omg/another time I had the butter chicken and it was, again the finest I have ever had the pleasure to eat, complete with true home/hand made naan !!! For a while the cheese and Mac. Dinner was complimentary and I can still taste it when I m hungry haha. I hope this will suffice to say I have a desire to encourage everyone to try and support this talented chef and his beautifully humble setting so it may grow to the level to which chef Basel can deliver his masterpiece plates for a fifty table crowd in the manner he should be provided for the dedication he embodies! Yay! I m Going back now for the steak haha

Best Samosa Ive had in my life! We also ordered the Bacon and Bacon Burger, and Pulled Pork Sandwhich, both were delicious and really unique, good sized portions too! Look forward to trying everything else on the menu too.

Large portions with huge flavour! There was so much Pad Thai I ate it the next day- plus there was a large amount of chicken, shrimp, and tofu inside . Fish tacos (listed as appetizers) is huge & delicious; the club sandwich was made with real chicken breast, not processed chicken slices. Fries were hot & crispy, gravy was a bit too salty. Nice little diner a few Km s away from Trent University. Food and service are both fantastic. I visited with my family the other day and we had a variety of sandwiches and pizza. All were really enjoyable. Will definitely visit again when I m in the area.

We stopped and had dinner here. My sister had the haddock and chips. Looked delicious and she said it was. I had the butter chicken with homemade Naan bread. It was delicious. Well worth the stop!

Wow, you gotta try this place out. Very unassuming so you might miss it, but trust me the food is all awesome. Great menu, with tons of choices we went twice while staying in the area. The Chicken parmesan is amazing, so is the blackened salmon and the burger. My hubby said probably the best burger he ever had, was nicely charbroiled. We moved to the area this year and Chef Basel has quickly become our favourite local takeout spot. The pizzas are some of the best in the city, the portions are generous, and the prices can t be beat.

Definitely a hidden gem!! Just had breakfast and it was delicious and prices are great!! The home fries are out of this world!!! We will definitely be going back to try other menu items!!! I am a foodie for sure and I 100% recommend this place!

Absolutely amazing food! Great price, generous portions and the owner is such a nice person to deal with. My wife and I just had the Swiss Burger and the Curry Chicken and loved them!

Had the beet and pear salad with grilled chicken. I was hesitant as beets arent my favourite, however the meal was fantastic! I will be returning for more of the unique cooking. I cant wait to try his vindaloo!!

Excellent food, great service and a Chef owner that really gets it. Classic Breakfast on the temporary patio good ratio of bacon to over easy eggs, real home fries from scratch, perfectly seasoned matchstick green peppers and onion strips that beautifully enhance the dish. Well worth making this spot a regular stop. Well done Chef!

Have tried many of the menu items and am never disappointed. Portions are plentiful and very fair price. Amazing owners/staff and very friendly. Highly suggest trying here if you have not.

Excellent eggs Benedict with the the best potatoes in town plus fruit. Easily in the top 5 eggs benedict in Peterborough. The english muffin could have been toasted a little more and the cold plate leads to cold eggs.

Wow, so many items to try on this menu. So far, everything weve had has been delicious. My husband ordered calamari 2 days in a row because he liked it so much. The beet and pear salad is perfectly dressed, the bruschetta is sooo good too. Sandwiches are great and its totally worth the 30 min drive to pick up. I can only imagine how good the food is when youre eating in, but Im not ready for crowds, so well continue to pick up

Excellent food and very family friendly atmosphere in the most unsuspecting places in Keen. There is seating inside and outside and the portions are excellent and very tasty. I recommend the Butter Chicken, it was perfect.

Stopped in here for lunch recently on a trip to Peterborough. Food was great and so were the prices! Place was clean and friendly staff. Id definitely be back there lots if I didnt live hours away!

I was looking for a place to park ( truck driver) found this place with the Petro canada. The food is amazing! I had a Caesar salad and a burger with fresh mushrooms and cheese. Couldn t finish it all but home made burger and top notch fresh ingredients. Reasonable prices, not bad hrs and really friendly staff! Definitely book marking this place if I m through here again! Awesome!

Cute restaurant, but unfortunately I wasnt impressed by the food. Eggs Benny sauce tasted great, but the home fries were way over done. And the meat was very dry. One of of the ladies at our table took hers back because of how overcooked everything was and her new plate looked amazing.

Chef Basils Restaurant at the corner of Television and Parkhill Roads is a lovely little spot with tasty food, great prices and friendly service. I can highly recommend the butter chicken pizza with roasted chickpeas and the Picante Pizza. My dining partner enjoyed the tandoori cchicke-veggie-mango-raita wrap. We will be going back again soon!!!
